so many of the transfems i know spent their time pre-transition performing a kind of lifelong exercise in self-deprivation, the goal of which was to find out exactly how little a person needed to live. they starved themselves, dressed carelessly, shunned friends, and hollowed themselves out so as not to be burdens on anyone but themselves.
i see it now, too, in the girls around me. i'll ask if they want care – a home-cooked meal, relaxed company, sex without the expectation of reciprocation – and they say no, no, thank you, i don't need it; what would you like, what do you want, because in their head they're still doing that awful calculus, still training themselves to disappear in the eyes of the people around them.
i don't think i'd have died without transition – not in the conventional sense, at least – but to take that leap, i had to stop thinking of myself as a human experiment in fuel-efficient living and start nurturing the anemic, atrophied flame of desire in my heart. i had to learn to eat well, to exercise, to style myself beautiful, but harder than that, i had to learn to ask the people around me to work on my behalf in order to enrich my life and give me the things i wanted.
and i did it; i learned. and it was agony, but courage is a muscle you can train, and every day i get better at accepting gifts with the hungry gratitude i never learned in my years and years as a sad, scared, lonely boy.
so be patient with the trans girls in your life. better than that: be proactive, attentive, generous; be forceful, if you have to, and learn to distinguish real discomfort from the terrified reflex of self-denial that so many of us once learned to rely on.
and if you are so lucky as to love a trans girl, you must insist upon her. you must insist upon her happiness, her comfort, her pleasure, and her rest, because she may still not yet know how to make those demands for herself. if you can devote any amount of energy to becoming an engine that nurtures the flame of even a single tgirl then there is a place for you in trans heaven, which as far as i'm concerned is the only one worth going to

idk if this is a boomer take but I think ppl should make more of an effort to go see movies in theaters bc I couldn’t bear it if the movie theater industry went down and the only way to watch movies was through streaming I’m not strong enough

hey when you make posts, i just want you to know, thou/thee/thy/thine/ye are like he/you(object)/your/yours/you(subject) okay? "thou art wearing shoes," "i will wear shoes for thee," okay?
you say thine if the next word starts with a vowel and thy if the next word starts with a consonant and they both mean "your" so "thine own shoes," "thy shoes," okay?
and ye means you and refers to the subject of a sentence, "ye members of the brotherhood of shoes," okay? you need this information to create better knight yaoi. i'm personally more interested in nun yuri but we are a community

My TAS roommate talked our landlord into letting it fix the hole in the wall that looks over the parking lot. It's been 6 months, our heating bill is through the goddamn roof, and the bastard keeps skipping through my room to get to the hole in the wall cuz it's half a second faster, and those half-seconds add up to an impressive time save.
im trying to have a talk with my TAS roommate about not explosive jumping past me to use the bathroom first, but it just keeps clipping through my dialog trigger

"everyone suddenly seems really stupid and aggressive" its brain damage from covid
"im sick all the time now and everyone at work is sick all the time" its immune system damage from covid
"im sick again, but i tested and its not covid haha" its still probably covid, rapid covid tests have been estimated at 30% positive accuracy by researchers who are factoring in strain mutation and user error
"no one can drive anymore, what happened" its brain damage from covid
"why am i suddenly mentally ill" its brain damage from covid
"i started feeling weak, breathless, confused, distracted, irritable and in pain but it was a while after i got covid so its not long covid" long covid sets in a random number of months after your covid infection and also asymptomatic covid can cause it
"ive still never gotten covid, isnt that great" unless you are an undiscovered genetic freak (possible) or youve been living in a clean room, you have had a covid infection. it may have been asymptomatic
"im sick but its from blood clots, heart disease, asthma, nerve damage, narcolepsy, etc" covid attacks the entire body and can cause all of these things as downstream effects
"ive already had covid so i probably have pretty good immunity by now" covid does not work like this. the more times you are infected, the more permanently injured you will become, and the more vulnerable to further covid infections and infections of all other viruses and bacteria
"ive been vaccinated so im safe" covid does not work like this. vaccination lowers your likelihood of developing severe infection, it does not protect you from contracting the virus
"well what am i supposed to do" wear a mask

Dude, the USPS is in like mega super ultra hell. I just took a cursory look at a subreddit called r/usps_complaints because I was noticing that nothing I've ordered recently to be shipped through USPS is even remotely on time, and that subreddit is FULL of recent posts complaining about delivery times, asking what's going on, and responses from delivery workers detailing how fucked everything is, and it's terrifying. There's a distribution center in Indiana where packages are supposed to be sent out to people who live in the state, but are getting shipped across the country, FURTHER AWAY from the people ordering, for no discernible reason. People have complained that they've ordered credit cards for emergency circumstances and never received them, and reading that made me realize I never received a debit card I was supposed to get months ago. Workers are explaining that new facilities are being opened up in order to streamline things, but these new facilities are primarily staffed with new employees who don't have the experience to keep things running. Old facilities are being closed, forcing employees to make longer commutes to other facilities.
So many online retailers work with the USPS. There is almost no place you can order from that doesn't use it for their shipping service. But do you know what online retailer doesn't primarily use the USPS, and isn't having these delays? Amazon. I don't think it's a coincidence. It may not be the sole cause of the problem, but I think it's suspicious that a mega corporation, the most profitable one to date, at that, is suddenly the only retailer that can claim to actually deliver its parcels within the timeframe they claim.
The issues with the USPS have been worsening dramatically for the last month. There are lots of new articles and posts about delays and missing packages. I think this goes without saying, but we NEED the USPS. They provide an essential service, one used by a variety of institutions and small businesses. If it goes under, we will see the effects. It might not be possible right now to predict exactly what a collapse of the postal service will entail, but it's certainly not going to be good. And it's DEFINITELY not going to improve under this administration.
