She smiled. They had had dinner late in the evening and the waiter had been sorry to inform them that they were out of desserts and the kitchen had just closed. Finishing a meal without a sweet note was inconceivable to her. “I did not hear you complaining over that floating island.”
“No, you are right, it was worth the adventure,” he replied with a fond smile.
She knew she had entertained him. She had gone through all the restaurants on that street, and every time she'd pushed open the door and asked, “Hi, do you have any desserts left?” she'd heard him struggle to contain his laughter.
They had been a little drunk.
Margo settled deeper into the cushions, chewing on her Tootsies.
“Would you allow me to be curious, Margo?” he asked softly.
She took a sip of her wine. “Hm-mh.”
