Summary: Gabriel decides to pull a spooky stunt on Sam

Pairing: Sabriel

A/N: This isn’t as good as I would’ve liked it to be, but I was short on time and had to get it out before 12:00. I’m probably gonna write another fic similar to this because I’m in love with the concept but I had a hard time putting it into words in the amount of time that I had. :’)

It was a crisp October evening, and the bunker was adorned with pumpkins, cobwebs, and skeletons.

Gabriel, ever the trickster, was planning a little Halloween surprise for his beloved boyfriend.

Seeing the youngest Winchester cozied up on the couch reading a book, completely submerged in the writing and unaware of his surroundings.

“It’s show time…” He muttered to himself, starting to creep up behind his unsuspecting boyfriend.

When he was just close enough, he leaped over the back of the couch and pounced on Sam with a loud “BOO!”

Sam yelped, his book flying from his hands and landing on the floor.

“AH! Gabe?!”

Gabriel let out a low growl, burying his face in Sam’s neck.

He theatrically sniffed the sensitive skin, sending shivers up Sam’s spine.

“Hmm.. I’m starving, Sammy.. and you smell just scrumptious!”

With no further explanation, he began to nibble Sam’s neck, making exaggerated eating noises.

��OmNomNom! Just the treat this hungry werewolf was after!” He teased.

Sam squealed, thrown into a fit of laughter.

“EEK!! GAHAHABE, T-THAT TICKLES!!”

Gabriel chuckled lowly, growling against the skin, only seeming to make Sam laugh louder.

“Why, that’s the point, my dear~”

Taking in a deep breath, he blew a loud messy raspberry against the crook of his boyfriends neck, earning a cute snort from the youngest Winchester.

“NOO!! GAHAHABE, QUIT IHIHIT!”

Gabriel pulled away, looking Sam in the eye, his own eyes sparkling with mischief.

“As tasty as your neck is, I’m craving something a little more… delicate~”

He slowly started to roll Sam’s shirt up, exposing the his ultimate tickle spot.

Sam’s eyes widened as he caught on to his boyfriends plans, cheeks flushing a bright red.

“D-Don’t you dahahare…” He giggled nervously.

The archangel merely smirked.

“Sorry, Sammy. Werewolf’s gotta eat!”

With that, he dove down and began nibbling at the soft flesh of Sam’s tummy, eliciting a shrill shriek from the ticklish victim.

“EEK! GAHAHABE, YOU ARE RIDICULOHOHOUS!”

Sam was lost in fits of ticklish laughter, tickly sparks shooting through his stomach as his eyes began to water.

Gabriel’s teeth continued to scrape and nip at the delicate skin, delighting in every squeak and snort, even noticing the way Sam’s belly seemed to turn rosy.

“Mm, scrumptious! I think it’s about time for dessert, don’t you?”

Sam tried to catch his breath, giggles still falling from his lips.

“What are you plahahanning, Gabe?” He gave his boyfriend a nervous look, almost not wanting to know the answer.

“Hmm, how about… Raspberries!”

Taking a quick and deep breath, he blew a loud sloppy raspberry on Sam’s belly, earning an honest scream from the Winchester.

“GAHAHABE! I-I CAHAHAHANT!”

Sam’s laughter echoed throughout the bunker, creating a sense of joy.

His sides started to ache from laughing and his cheeks were warm.

When Sam started wheezing, Gabriel gave a couple wet kisses to his tummy and pulled away, admiring the blushing mess that was his lover.

“Thanks for satisfying my hunger, Sam-a-lam!”

He let out a chuckle of his own and leaned in to give the hunter a loving kiss, which Sam returned, giggling through the kiss.

“You’re an idiot…” He muttered, looking at the archangel with warmth and love.

“An idiot who knows how to celebrate Halloween the right way!”

Sam rolled his eyes.

Sam wasn’t fond of Halloween, that’s for sure. But he would be lying if he said that Gabriel didn’t make it a million times better.

Ten Books to Know Me:

@chubsthehamster put out a "participate if you want to" call, and I fucking love books, so why not! 1. Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, by Susanna Clarke - Read this first in high school and it rewired my brain. Dense, intricate, a November day of a book, it is about the inequities of class, race, gender, and also about the dry stone wall down the lane and its intimacy with the ivy that's grown over it for the last century. There are magicians and academic confrontations.

2. Food in England, by Dorothy Hartley - Read this a year out of undergrad. This is the book that convinced me that I could actually do something worthwhile with my interest in history. It was also fundamental in kicking a few chunks out of my ivory tower, but that's probably a personal take-away rather than anything essential to the book. Learn a few hundred small practicalities that may or may not be applicable to modern life; you decide.

3. Sabriel, by Garth Nix - The first book that spoke to baby's latent goth tendencies. The worldbuilding still lives in the back of my head. Made me interested in WWI history. Read it in middle school, I think? It was such a breath of fresh air, and I admired the protagonist and her self-discipline and self-reliance so much. Probably the first book that made me really worry whether the characters would survive until the end, and boy howdy was that formative. Zombies, quests to save fathers, learning that the legacy you thought was a burden is actually your calling.

4. Ombria in Shadow, by Patricia A. McKillip - Read in undergrad, I think? I reread it a couple times a year. It's a go-to story for when I need something comforting and decadent. I love the gauzy quality of the worldbuilding, the understated approach to very real-world dangers. A royal bastard, a former royal mistress, and a sorceress' apprentice race to protect a child king and save the and the living soul of a city.

5. The Sandman, by Neil Gaiman, et al. - This story got me through my late teens and early twenties. Exactly the right flavor of tragedy to grab my brain and shake it like a maraca; fundamentally changed how I look at stories and narratives. Person-shaped cosmic mechanism denies personhood, falls face first into the hole he's been digging for himself for a billion years, hitting every consequence on the way down, and finds a morsel of peace at the end.

6. Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio (聊齋誌異), by Pu Songling (蒲松齡) - I read this first while doing research for a fanfic and came away hungry for every bit of "classic" Chinese literature in English translation I could find. I've always had a fondness for supernatural anecdotes (The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries, by WB Yeats, etc), but this is on the list because it was the initial experience in an ongoing foray into classic and modern East and Southeast Asian literature.

7. Underland, by Robert Macfarlane - Read this a couple years ago. Everything you ever and never wanted to know about caves and being under the earth. The texture of Macfarlane's prose is unlike anything else, and he spends 500 pages leading you in and out of the dark.

8. Night Watch, by Terry Pratchett - This is my compromise instead of just listing every Terry Pratchett book. I read this when I was 12, and I mean it in earnest when I say it shaped how I think to this day. Pratchett's work is a load-bearing beam in my brain. Another grey book, but also lilac.

9. A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn - Okay look, LOOK, I know what you're thinking, but I read this when I was a teenager living in an extremely conservative pocket of a very liberal state. It made me think, which I was good at avoiding because school came easy to me and I usually didn't have to engage my brain at all to have the right answers. I wish with all my heart that I could write to the teacher who assigned it, because it was the very first time anyone had ever made me read history outside a history textbook. I resented that man so much at the time, but I owe him my current career.

10. Stiff, by Mary Roach - Read this as a teen and finally got answers about death I hadn't gotten in a lifetime of religious education. I think I actually snuck it into Mass, because I have a distinct memory of cramming it between the cushion and arm of a pew. Sparked an interest in death and human remains that lead me closer to where I am today.

All of my old ships, like Destiel, Sabriel, Johnlock, Mystrade...I used to be super into Supernatural and Sherlock but I've like completely moved on from them. Though I do like to dive back into Johnlock fics every now and then

2. Which ship would you consider your first one?

USUK from Hetalia or either KakaVege from Dragonball Z. It's between those two, I think

Definitely USUK. You have no idea how many fics I read over on Deviantart about them. So many

USUK or Russia x China from Hetalia...it was one of them. Can't remember, honestly

No. I don't get into discourse. I'm not very confrontational and I never liked fighting with anyone over their ships

FRUK or whatever the fuck France x UK was called. Can't remember. They were never a favorite of mine. Also Wincest. Like why?

Um...honestly, I can't remember.

No, not really. If I dislike a ship, I just tend not to interact with it. So I won't go looking for content about it or check it out, even if a mutual or someone is talking about it

Sebaciel, Eren x Levi, anything hetalia related...these were all like the normal ships in middle school for me and like...now people (especially on instagram but who the fuck listens to people on instagram) just do not like them. But I still like them.

I never did crack ships, honestly. Which might seem weird to some people but it was just never my thing

Now, if we're talking about my own fanfics, it's Yuezhi. I read so much of my own fics about them. But if we're not then...McDanno is the one who has the most bookmarks in my ao3 bookmarks

14. What most of your ships usually have in common?

Enemies to lovers, doctor x cop, black and white couple (means one wears black/dark clothes majority of the time and the other wears light/white clothes majority of the time), grumpy x sunshine...i'm sure there are other things but i can't remember

15. What you absolutely hate in a ship?

Miscommunication. Like, you're supposed to be in love with each other, right? Which means you communicate with each other for fucks sake. I know miscommunication is a big romance trope but it's just so stupid. It causes so much drama and unnecessary anxiety and just...just fucking talk to each other you assholes (I will give a pass to this trope if it's done well...like you think it's a misunderstanding but actually the characters have talked about this and they're faking the misunderstanding/miscommunication. Killer and Healer has some miscommunication but it actually makes sense why there's miscommunication...doesn't mean I have to like it, but it makes sense, so it gets a pass)

FFXIV Write 2024 - Day 12

Quarry

It was small but she wasn't expecting a mansion by any means. A bedroom, wash room and a kitchen with a small seating area.  The actual smithy was in another small building at the back of the property. Perfectly fine for one man. 

“I regret there is not much extra space but-”

She shook her head. “I have slept in a quarry to protect a claim with just Sabriel to lay my head on. I asked for a dry place to sleep and this fits the bill just fine.” 

Hey look, this prompt comes with a gpose. I've been kicking around the idea of an NPC AU for a hot minute and this was the perfect chance to get it out of my head. I actually did some other gposes for it a while back but when I went to find them for this, I realized I made them both blacksmiths and that's now how the story shook out. So this was done in a mad dash but here it is. Also I get over involved in my AUs. My fake marriage AU definitely got out of hand. This is another one that might get cleaned up an expanded into something that actually makes it to AO3. I could have easily kept going with this one. I really might. I love making AUs and trying to fit as much of Eorzea as I can into a slightly different world

Uh... I get people complaining about my grammar and spelling, (not as much anymore thankfully) and I did have some write me angry about how I'd written Scott in a Teen Wolf fic,

Now I do. It took a while for me to get comfortable with it, but now…definitely. Though it is usually in the confines of a fluffy/angst fic

10-Craziest crossover?

I struggled to think of one at first, because my crossover aren’t that crazy, but then I remembered I wrote a fic while on holiday with my family that is…yeah, definitely the craziest one I’ve written. (and probably the worst too)

I don't really have a single favourite ship, because each ship means something different to me. I mean, there's Garashir, who I was shipping before I even knew what shipping was. There's Destiel who introduced me to fandom and fanfiction. Johnlock had me exploring my sexuality and questioning what I thought I knew about myself. while simultaneously leaving me with show-runner trust issue. And Sterek is my comfort ship.

15-What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

God, I have so many WIPs that will likely never get finished. But one that frustrates me is a Marvey fic I have been writing and rewriting since season 3 that I know deep down will never see the light of day.

16-What are your writing strengths?

Honestly, I have no idea. You'd have to ask my readers. Uh....people have complimented my characterisation, so I guess that's a strength, and I think my dialogue is alright.

17-What are your writing weaknesses?

That one is easy, grammar and spelling. I shave always struggled since school where I had to have special help, but I guess either I wasn't paying attention or it just didn't take, because a lot of the grammar rules just aren't in my head. So I tend to get comments complaining about my grammar. Which can be annoying because all they say is its bad but don't tell me how. If I got it wrong the first time, what makes you think I can fix it.

18-Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Uh, I mean personally I'm fine with it - Unless its a whole paragraph of text. I just copy/paste it into google translate if need be. If its a fantasy language, then I'm screwed.

19-First fandom you wrote in?

Angel but it was on a floppy disk so is unlikely to ever see the light of day.

tbh i don't think there's a special answer for this. syrge will respond to their nickname before their actual name though. like if you yell "SYRGIUS" into a crowd he's going to assume you're mad at him and start moving very quickly away from you. you GOTTA call him by the name Syrge or else he will assume you are mad at him.

11. If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?

tbh the best way to tell you're dealing with Genuine Syrge is to bring up some hyperspecific memory involving his and salyako's rivalry in a slightly incorrect fashion that favors salyako. he will Aggressively Correct you every single time.

25. What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

fashion. 100%. he is weirdly knowledgeable about fashion you'd find specifically in duvloden where the majority of lucimae live. he specifically styles himself with lucim-typical fashion because he likes it and thinks it fits him.

salyako will call people their friend if they want that person to like them. they don't really conceptualize people as being their friend, they just use the word for others to engender feelings of fondness in the other person.

yes 100% can absolutely cry on command. tbh i don't think they "think of" anything when doing so. i think it's just a biological response they can kinda turn on at will.

16. What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?

100% syrge. always syrge. constantly envisioning trying to dunk on him in some fashion basically at all hours of the day.

29. How do they respond when someone doesn’t believe them?

regardless of the severity of the disbelief, salyako will react by basically gaslighting you and acting like you're ridiculous for not believing whatever they're saying, trying to get you to question your own perception or otherwise using their good reputation as a "why would i possibly lie to you about this?" shield.

6. What’s their favorite [insert anything] that they’ve never recommended to anyone before?

i feel like there are a few sappy emotional dramatic movies that sabryel likes that it's never recommended to anyone due to embarrassment. like the ledaveth equivalent of hallmark movies. watched a few as a kid and grew attached to a handful of them and then never tells anyone he likes them. will definitely watch them occasionally when feeling the need for a little emotional catharsis, but never ever brings it up to anyone.

9. Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive?

sabryel can give both tough and gentle love depending on what they think is called for in that moment. it's highly situational. sabryel prefers kind of a midpoint between "tough" and "gentle" where they don't exactly want to be coddled, but also don't want to be treated super roughly either. Moderate Amount Of Force love.

45. What’s something unimportant / frivolous that they hate passionately?

the most frivolous thing that inspires genuine anger in him is just. any kind of romantic/sexual partner who doesn't play along with its particular brand of enjoying a little bit of contention in the bedroom. like if you are the pillow prince(ss) type who just lays there sabryel will be so bored and miserable the entire fucking time. he cannot stand that shit.

17. What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?

cyprus usually tends to notice how short it is in the mirror. which doesn't bother her, but she definitely feels short when looking at herself. most people who look at her notice her huge fucking eyes that she uses to great effect most of the time. it does get occasionally asked if she has some eilara in its genetics from how big her eyes are.

24. Did they take a cookie from the cookie jar? What kind of cookie was it?

cyprus does not steal cookies from the cookie jar. she will ask if she can have one and maybe get sad if the answer is no, but she will not steal. her fave kind of cookie is snickerdoodle though.

29. How do they respond when someone doesn’t believe them?

she gets really visibly upset and maybe cries if the disbelief is forceful enough. like she just makes her eyes get all huge and teary and gives the disbeliever the saddest puppy eyes imaginable while being like "you don't believe me??" and this usually makes people reconsider.

she's generally pleasant to people even if she doesn't like them. she might give off an air of Sadness or Discomfort but she will still try to be more or less kind

she VERY commonly mistakes a certain level of friendliness from others as romantic overtures. this is at least partially because she develops crushes on people at the drop of a fucking hat and wishful-thinking projects onto any kind of friendly behavior. if she realizes she was wrong she'll apologize and then get all sad and mopey and go draw vent art in her sketchbooks about feeling unlovable.

54. What’s their instinct in a fight / flight / freeze / fawn situation?

100% her instinct is to fawn. or freeze. but mostly fawn.

10. What fact do they excitedly tell everyone about at every opportunity?

tbh it would take hours to unroll the laundry list of shit he'd excitedly tell people at any opportunity. his interests are broad and he likes mentally collecting useless knowledge.

21. What common etiquette do they disagree with? Do they still follow it?

ceylox fucking HATES casual small talk. he's not good at engaging with it and finds it boring. he will 100% be vibrating at you thinking about telling you 2000 facts about his various special interests and hating that he is not able to do so every second. he will TRY to go along with small talk but you can always tell he's not enjoying it every time.

24. Did they take a cookie from the cookie jar? What kind of cookie was it?

like cyprus, he is not the kind of person to just take a cookie without asking. he will approach parental figure with a genuine request and a list of reasons why he should be allowed to Have Cookie. his favorite kind of cookie is any kind of nut butter cookie. peanut butter is a favorite but he will also take any other kind of nut butter cookie and enjoy it. preferably fresh out of the oven.

34. How do they greet someone they like / love?

he will say the person's name excitedly and then hug them with the same level of enthusiasm. if you're a romantic partner he will immediately kiss you, potentially multiple times if he was really looking forward to seeing you.

45. What’s something unimportant / frivolous that they hate passionately?

people confidently saying something blatantly wrong about one of his interests. he will be staring at you with the most blatantly constipated look on his face mentally chewing your hand off trying to suppress the urge to correct you in the snottiest way possible if you do this.

his first instinct would be Flight. getting the FUCK out of dodge. but if you corner him he will 100% swing to fight if necessary. he just won't enjoy it.

silvayn:

1. What’s the lie your character says most often?

silvayn's most common lie is just. complimenting people when he doesn't mean it. if he compliments you he is almost ALWAYS being backhanded about it and trying to imply that he thinks you're a nincompoop of some variety.

4. What’s a hobby they used to have that they miss?

urban exploration and graffiti. he kinda lived in a not quite as nice neighborhood when younger so sometimes he'd entertain himself by finding abandoned buildings, breaking in, and spraypanting some kind of tag on an open wall. he was quite a prolific graffiti artist as a young teen.

12. What’s something that makes them laugh every single time? Be specific!

generally speaking silvayn just likes watching people get humiliated. doesn't even need to be specific. he finds it funny regardless of specifics.

16. What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?

tbh i feel like the only people he envisions having arguments with in his head are people in law enforcement who are not very bright and act belligerent and demanding w him. otherwise he genuinely does not give enough of a shit to get into mental arguments w people.

sevylle:

20. Who do they like as a person but hate their work? Vice versa, whose work do they like but don’t like the person?

sevylle has a long list of bands and musicians who fill both categories. it listens to a fuckload of different music and has very strong opinions about both the music and the people making it.

26. How would they respond to being fired by a good boss?

if it was a hiring that they felt was not justified, sevylle would immediately go home and essentially just write a diss track about said boss. if it was a firing they understood as reasonable, it would go home and angst in bed for a couple days and write some self-recriminating poetry before getting over it and starting a hunt for a new job.

28. What do they tell people they want? What do they actually want?

sevylle is the kind of person who says it wants to be Strong and Independent while actually kind of wanting to be taken care of. They will never admit this out loud, however.

34. How do they greet someone they like / love?

sevylle will probably give you a nice smile and a clap on the shoulder if you're a friend. if you're a romantic partner she will give you the Sparkly Eyes until you hug and/or kiss them.

3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?

tbh celyn is kind of a mix? she generally tends to hide her negative emotions more than her positive ones. they can be comfortably honest about the things they like, but generally tries to hide anger and hatred and bitterness.

13. When do they fake a smile? How often?

any time she's mad or upset or put off or anything like that, she will fake a smile. they're very good at it too.

42. If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be?

100% that presentation would be about the history and construction of magic objects. and it would be meticulous as fuck. i haven't watched enough ted talks to really definitively say what the title of her presentation would be though.
