It’s heartbreaking how many times in season 3 Jon casually mentions how he is looking for ways to prove that Gerard Keay faked his death in 2014. It’s so clear that he’s become attached to this chaotic good hot goth vigilante who burns Leitners and helps people touched by the Fears because it’s the right thing to do.
It almost looks like Jon addresses the reality of Gerry’s death less and less (not quite denial, but close) the more he learns about Gerard, and all the good he’s done. It hurts him to face the fact that this ally is gone forever. And when he finally meets him via the Catalogue of the Trapped Dead, he agrees to burn Gerry’s page, despite it being the one, real loophole to Keay’s death that he’s been looking for all along. He’s finally found proof that Gerry’s death wasn’t permanent, but because he chooses to do right by him, he respects Gerry’s decision to finalize his passing.

OH!!
Mag 117 - Testament
Listening to all their statements is like music to my ears. I can’t tell you why except it’s more insight into them, into their characters.
Melanie became infected by the Slaughter when the bullet hit her. Hospital couldn’t find a bullet, but that’s because it wasn’t physical, right? So now she’s infected by a ghost bullet.
Martin… Oh I dearly want to write him as a Web avatar in my fic. Just the way he talks about his fear and his frustration and then “It felt good, weaving my own little web.” And then his little defense about spiders directly afterwards. :)
I love him so much and he deserves the world. They all do. But Martin and Tim and Sasha—I need them to be safe. I long for it, honestly. Lol

readings of the podcast which try to frame jon as having been tragically manipulated and forced through every decision by elias are of no interest to me. because it's not true, is it. when elias tells him in mag 92 "you always chose to see," he's being cruel, yes. victim blaming him, even. but to completely disregard it as an attempt at manipulation would be a mistake. much of the podcast is about exploiting people's trauma. as i've said before, jon's role as head archivist, back when it was still presented as a mundane office job to the audiences, and he hadn't developed any beholding powers yet, involved filing away statement givers' trauma without offering help of any kind. the institute subsists on this form of exploitation, in a literal sense obviously, because it's a temple to the eye. but even if you take that reveal away, it's also true in simply an administrative sense in season one. and jon used to ruthlessly dismiss every single statement giver with as much apathy as he could muster (while knowing that if a statement doesn't record digitally, then it's the truth), and note that faking skepticism was a form of coping mechanism for him, it was the choice between making statement givers feel small or making himself feel vulnerable—and is this not simply the bureaucratic version of what he does later as a supernatural avatar of the beholding, vampirically feeding on people's terror to stay alive or risk being consumed by the eye?
(Season 3) MAG 117 - "Testament" // (Season 4) MAG 142 - "Scrutiny"
of course, i'm not saying he bought it on himself, that he deserved to be put in an impossible situation later for being an arse in season one. jon too, has had his trauma exploited in the form of a guest for mr spider, an experience which eventually led him to the magnus institute where he would help fulfill the web's designs. so, in the grand scheme of things everyone was puppeteered by forces beyond their control, but would you excuse jonah for eveything he's ever done because of it? then why must jon be rendered completely non-agentic? yes, elias manipulated him, but he has never had to straight up coerce jon into anything. jon's just always done what's been expected of him. because they're alike. their shared desire for knowledge originates from fear. jon always chose to see because something had hurt him once and he needed answers, and we can assume jonah chose the beholding because it was the only entity which would expose him to information on all the other fears. knowledge is a means of survival for both of them, an inclination which later manifests literally as they become avatars who must subsist on terror. it all really comes down to letting yourself be exploited or exploiting someone else to escape that fate (you don't escape, not really, nobody does in the podcast), and jon did choose (with as much agency he could've possibly had in a story like this). the difference between them being that elias feels no remorse for his choice, but jon's character is defined by the enormous guilt he feels about the things he has done and what he must do to continue living, until he doesn't.
#surely he's the same#a man's eating habits#jonathan sims#elias bouchard#jonelias#<- as i've said before all my posts about jon & elias are jonelias (implied). so.#tma text#*

The cozy living room was filled with warm sunlight filtering through the curtains, casting a gentle glow across the couch where Changbin lay sprawled out, utterly relaxed yet buzzing with nervous energy.
He was stretched comfortably, but the way he fidgeted in his seat, his feet resting in Chan’s lap, suggested a mix of contentment and anxiety.
Chan, always the gentle caretaker, was giving Changbin a soothing foot massage, his fingers skillfully working into the arches and heels, bringing a blissful warmth to Binnie’s body.
Jisung sat comfortably under Changbin’s knees, propped up against the couch, his attention divided between scrolling through his phone and sneaking glances at two others.
“Do you like that…?” Chan asked, pressing harder into his feet, smiling as Changbin sighed. “It’s…nice—yeah, I like it.” He stammered, feeling his face grow warmer at the attention.
Despite the pleasantness of the foot rub, Binnie’s mind couldn’t help but wander to the delightful chaos that could ensue if his hyung decided to turn this moment into something…playful.
The thought of Chan's fingers dancing on his feet, Jisung letting go of his goddamn phone for one second to move to his sides, sent a wave of shyness crashing over him, and he bit his lip, wishing he could voice his desire.
As he lay stretched across the couch, the soft fabric enveloping him, he could feel the warmth radiating from Channie's hands as they gently massaged his feet. Every press of Chan's fingers sent delightful shivers up his spine, but it was the thought of what could come next that really made his heart race.
The mere idea of being tickled mercilessly had him squirming in his seat, a soft flush creeping across his cheeks. He wanted to laugh, to surrender to the sensations, yet the very thought made him feel vulnerable.
Changbin was caught in a whirlwind of emotions, longing for the freedom to embrace his silliness while desperately wishing for the reassurance of his friends.
The thought of being tickled made him feel giddy and shy, yet every giggle that would escaped his lips was a testament to how much he secretly craved the experience, leaving him in a state of blissful desperation.
He squirmed in his place, staring pleadingly at Jisung, who had glanced up and was now grinning at him. Sungie knows. Sungie would understand.
Jisung smirked. “Something wrong, hyung?”
Fuck.
Changbin let out a barely audible whine, his legs trembling in their laps. It wasn’t a want anymore, it was a need.
“Sungie…please…” He pleaded silently, giving Jisung the biggest puppy eyes he could. It worked on Felix every time, so maybe they would crack too?
Sung sighed. “Channie hyung?”
Chan smiled. He had clearly been waiting for this and was now prepared to totally wreck Changbin to absolute bits. “Keep your arms away, okay, Binnie?”
“Okay…” Changbin felt like his face was on fire, he didn’t think he’d ever felt this shy before. And it clearly wasn’t helping.
Fingers began to skitter up and down his feet, and he burst into cackles, straining to keep his arms folded on his shoulders as he squealed adorably, another pair of hands joining in at his belly, slipping under his shirt.
“AHAHA—Chahahahannie hyuhuhuhung!!” Changbin almost arched his back off of their laps, his body desperately trying to squirm away. A few taps on his hips from Jisung was enough to make him slump right back down.
“SUHUHUHUNGIE!!” Changbin shrieked as Jisung’s fingers went to squish at the pudge of his tummy, playing with the sliver of skin and smiling down at the sweet boy.
Changbin’s nose scrunched involuntarily and he was left a giggling, squealing mess in their laps as their fingers wandered, the two lers’ giddy smiles only serving to make him more shy.
“Aish…you’re so cute, bunny~” Chan cooed, a wide smile creeping up as he moved to the inside of his feet and watching Changbin lose it, cackling and twisting as he desperately fought to keep his arms from disturbing them.
He was giddy, a happiness that would only last for the duration of the tickling, and he was ready to offer himself up for their waiting, wiggling fingers until he was satisfied.
Changbin felt his mind melt, his eyes pooling with tears as he slipped to the edge of his mind, his inner child glowing at the childish sensation, the want, the need for him to be treated like he was younger, to be treated like there was no responsibilities rather than laughing himself silly.
Soon enough, Chan and Jisung, concerned with the lack of coherent words other than the childish, adorable giggles they hold true and dear, slowed down, fingers still gently trailing as Changbin, hair disheveled, eyes adorably shining with tears of joy, cheeks flushed and wet, panted for air.
“Hyung?” Jisung called, but there’s no response.
“Oh, Binnie~” Chan sighed, his hand gently back to massaging as the two lers waited for their Changbin to return to them.

The Bible is not a historical (compilation of) book(s), it's a theological book. There are some things that cannot be taken literally. They should be read theologically, spiritually.
While reading it, you can see that there are parts that have historical inaccuracies in the Old Testament, I mean, they don't match with other historical events, small details like the names of emeprors. There are things that don't exactly agree within the different books of the Old Testament.
Don't get me wrong. I know and believe God created everything that exists, but there's a reason why the Catholic priest Georges Lamaître made the Big Bang theory, and why the Catholic friar Gregor Mendel made the laws of genetics. Is there something I'm not getting?
Yes, there is a lot you are not getting. Especially based on the follow up ask you sent me while I was getting ready to respond to this.
The Bible is not a historical (compilation of) book(s), it's a theological book.
The Sacred Scriptures are a compilation of book of various genres. The Old Testament consists of forty-six books. Twenty-one historical books, containing the account of the creation of the universe and the history of the patriarchs and the Jewish nation. Seven didactic books, containing collections of psalms, wise sayings, and rules of life. Eighteen prophetical books, containing prophecies as well as instructions or admonitions.
The Historical texts are: the five books of Moses, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, the four books of Kings, the two Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Tobit, Judith, Esther, the two books of the Maccabees.
The didactic texts are: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Wisdom, Sirach.
The prophetic texts are: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Baruch, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Johan, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
We get these groupings from the collective writings of the Church Fathers and the Tradition (capital T). (x)
here are some things that cannot be taken literally. They should be read theologically, spiritually.
This is a fundamental misunderstanding of what the literal sense of Scripture is. The Catechism summarizes the Church's teaching on the different senses of Scripture in paragraphs 115-119:
115 According to an ancient tradition, one can distinguish between two senses of Scripture: the literal and the spiritual, the latter being subdivided into the allegorical, moral and anagogical senses. The profound concordance of the four senses guarantees all its richness to the living reading of Scripture in the Church.
116 The literal sense is the meaning conveyed by the words of Scripture and discovered by exegesis, following the rules of sound interpretation: "All other senses of Sacred Scripture are based on the literal." (x)
117 The spiritual sense. Thanks to the unity of God's plan, not only the text of Scripture but also the realities and events about which it speaks can be signs.
The allegorical sense. We can acquire a more profound understanding of events by recognizing their significance in Christ; thus the crossing of the Red Sea is a sign or type of Christ's victory and also of Christian Baptism.
The moral sense. The events reported in Scripture ought to lead us to act justly. As St. Paul says, they were written "for our instruction".
The anagogical sense (Greek: anagoge, "leading"). We can view realities and events in terms of their eternal significance, leading us toward our true homeland: thus the Church on earth is a sign of the heavenly Jerusalem.
118 A medieval couplet summarizes the significance of the four senses: The Letter speaks of deeds; Allegory to faith; The Moral how to act; Anagogy our destiny.
119 It is the task of exegetes to work, according to these rules, towards a better understanding and explanation of the meaning of Sacred Scripture in order that their research may help the Church to form a firmer judgement. For, of course, all that has been said about the manner of interpreting Scripture is ultimately subject to the judgement of the Church which exercises the divinely conferred commission and ministry of watching over and interpreting the Word of God.
The entirety of Holy Writ is to be taken literally. Not all of the books are meant to be taken as historical. This I have shown, and it does not contradict.
While reading it, you can see that there are parts that have historical inaccuracies in the Old Testament, I mean, they don't match with other historical events, small details like the names of emeprors. There are things that don't exactly agree within the different books of the Old Testament.
I do not have the time to go through and scrounge up all of the answers to any supposed contradictions contained within the Old Testament, at least not right now (typing this at 1 am). I think it is sufficient to point out that, as a Catholic, you are bound under pain of mortal sin to believe in Scriptural inerrancy with divine and catholic faith.
From Pope Leo XIII:
"So far is it from being possible that any error can co-exist with inspiration, that inspiration not only is essentially incompatible with error, but excludes and rejects it as absolutely and necessarily as it is impossible that God Himself, the supreme Truth, can utter that which is not true. This is the ancient and unchanging faith of the Church."
Providentissimus Deus
Reiterated by Pope Pius XII:
“For as the substantial Word of God became like to men in all things, ‘except sin,’ so the words of God, expressed in human language, are made like to human speech in every respect, except error”
Divino Afflante Spiritu
From the Second Vatican Council:
"Since, therefore, all that the inspired authors, or sacred writers, affirm should be regarded as affirmed by the Holy Spirit, we must acknowledge that the books of Scripture firmly, faithfully and without error, teach that truth which God, for the sake of our salvation, wished to see confided to the sacred Scriptures."
Dei Verbum
There is much much more but I believe I've made my point on this matter. Next...
Don't get me wrong. I know and believe God created everything that exists
Nice, we agree!
but there's a reason why the Catholic priest Georges Lamaître made the Big Bang theory
I don't really understand the point here. I have known of Father Lamaitre and him being the "inventor" of the big bang theory for a while but I have never read it. Regardless, he is held to the same scrutiny and standard as everyone else is by both what I have already here laid out and what Pope Pius XII lays out in Humani Generis. I cannot say if he does or not, I have not read it, but a singular priest is not really an authority. This is especially true in the realm of the physical sciences.
and why the Catholic friar Gregor Mendel made the laws of genetics
Same principle as before regarding the authority of an individual priest that is not Your (royal you) pastor. I am also not familiar with this particular work, but I don't see a contradiction with the Faith at all on its face. I believe in genetics. I don't think you understand what macroevolution is as a concept.

THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES IMPRESSIONS: EP 115 - 120
EP 115: Taking Stock
SALESA?? Omg Salesa backstory? I feel like I've heard about the meat grinder in a previous story, no? Noooo Helen. Like I get why Jon was a jerk but like idk me personally I'd listen. It's better to have a weird ally than a weird enemy.
EP 116: The Show Must Go On
This episode was sooooo well written. HELP JON IMMEDIATELY SAYING MARTIN CAN'T GO??? Omg the gang is back together and scheming I'm so happy. "If you die I'm afraid you won't be able to claim your expenses." Tim is in desperate need of therapy it's not even funny, like someone has got to book him an appointment.
EP 117: Testament
I love these little bits where we get to see the characters thought process. JON BRINGING UP THE OFFICE GOSSIP IS CRAZY???? HES STUTTERING??? BRO YOU'RE ABOUT TO DIE YOU CANNOT BE STUTTERING OVER THIS LMAOOO. Awww Basira and Daisy are actually so cute, I love their friendship so much omg. Melanie's voice actor is so talented omg this is so well acted. I feel so bad for Melanie :( MELANIE'S TRIP???? :( Man I love Melanie. "I need him to be okay. sorry." WHAT DOES THAT MEAN MARTIN??? DID HE JUST TELL JON TO CHILL OUT LMAO? Oh my god Martin has a legitimate crush stop I love him. World could possibly end and he's here yapping about his crush. Daisy is so real for just turning on the recorder and only breathing and saying okay. Noooooo Tim :(
Current predictions: Tim dies, Someone is irreversibly injured, Basira dies? They succeed but not properly so there's extreme damages to our world and reality
EP 118: The Masquerade
Jon was really okay with Martin burning cases?? Losing that knowledge??? Tim I love you for making bad jokes. Oh?? Weird Tape appearing out of nowhere?? ELIAS CLOCKED MARTIN'S FEELINGS SO FAST LMAOOO This is horrifying then. HE ADMITTED THE FEELINGS???????? YALLLLLL. Elias really said "your mom" and then went on to attack Martin's mommy issues. GUYS IM ACTUALLY THE NUMBER ONE ELIAS HATER. THEY BETTER SUCCEED AND KILL HIM I NEED HIM GONE AFTER WHAT HE DID TO MELANIE AND MARTIN. DID DAISY JUST SHOOT JON???????
EP 119: Stranger And Stranger
The music goes so hard for this intro omg. THIS EPISODE IS SO COOL??? Tim saw Jon and then went to kill him, didn't even need an illusion goddamn. The Watcher??? Rip to Tim since he's pressing the detonator. After reading the description I missed Daisy dying and Basira leaving because I got confused :')
EP 120: Eye Contact
Elias you cannot be making a statement about a guys dreams that's just not right. So Jon is in the hospital?? Y'all this was a very cool statement but confused me so bad. WAIT SO DAISY DIED??? Elias is under arrest?? So there is that weird Lukas guy. OH new guy in charge then.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This finale was so weird on so many levels. So much not processed??? Like we haven't see the aftermath of it all which is a bit weird. Man I wish I was apart of the fandom at the time so I could see people dissect this and explain bits I missed and make silly theories.
