Auto da sogno: la Fiat 128

Mentre tutto il mondo era rivolto col naso all’insù a guardare il potente Saturn V spedire i primi uomini sulla Luna, l’avvocato Agnelli era impegnato a guardare il dito e ne approfittava per lanciare la rivoluzionaria Fiat 128 che presentava soluzioni tecniche davvero avveniristiche per quei tempi, quali, per esempio, le portiere che si aprivano, le ruote che giravano (di cui le due davanti sterzanti), i fanali che si accendevano, insomma, una vera e propria rivoluzione nel campo della motorizzazione civile. La 128 montava un nuovo 4 cilindri in linea di 1116 cm³ capace di sviluppare la formidabile potenza di 55 CV, con albero a camme in testa azionato da cinghia dentata in gomma che comandava direttamente le punterie senza interposizione di bilancieri (Fonte: Wikipedia). La velocità massima dichiarata era di ben 140 km/h, volava.

Da Wikipedia: “La "128" ottenne subito un notevole successo di vendita in tutta Europa, anche aggiudicandosi il premio di Auto dell'anno nel 1970. Narra il designer Giorgetto Giugiaro che, recandosi a Wolfsburg per presentare i bozzetti del disegno della futura Golf, vide nel reparto progettazione Volkswagen una "128" completamente smontata; i tecnici tedeschi ritenevano infatti che la berlina Fiat fosse il miglior esempio di "auto medio piccola" moderna, alla quale ispirarsi per lo schema tecnico”, insomma, ce la copiavano anche i tedeschi (che all’epoca erano ancora rintronati dalla guerra).

In Russia la Fiat 128 venne commercializzata con il nome di Zastava 101, che ancora oggi si possono ammirare su Youtube riprese dalle dashcam nelle compilation “Meanwhile in Russia”.
