10,000 kudos feels like such a ridiculous milestone that I don’t really know what to do with myself.

Except to say thank you to all the people who have been reading, responding and in general being colossally wonderful to me.

I initially started writing Don’t think about it because I loved the existing crossovers but wanted to read something where Harry was less traumatised or had at least processed more and I wasn’t sure I was ever going to post it. And then I hit 40k and decided that I might as well.

I was genuinely shocked by the reception. I was sending my best mate message after message getting excited about how many people were already reading at chapter 1.

I know there’s a lot of commentary on the responsibility of readers to leave comments and I am firmly of the opinion that readers should be allowed to interact as much or as little with a fic as they feel like. I am a born lurker and generally don’t post much on social media (tumblr has been a learning curve) and I have probably only commented on the tiniest fraction of fics.

I didn’t even realise I could leave kudos until I was embarrassingly deep into fandom and only started regularly bookmarking last year (all the johnlock and Merlin fics I will never find again haunt me).

But dear god, you every chapter stanleys are the lifeblood. I’ve never finished a piece of writing in my life but with the power of endorphin rushes and knowing that people were waiting for me to update… just thank you, thank you so much.

I have been leaning into fanfic for a long time to distract me when my life gets shit or my mental health goes down the toilet and I definitely still do that (looking at you teen wolf, Jan/Feb was a disaster) but converting some of that addiction into writing has been such a game changer.

Writing fanfic has turned into such a blessing for me in so many ways and I am unbelievably proud of my first completed fic. I’d like to think I would still be proud of it if it hadn’t had such a positive reception but I’m honest enough with myself to know that I likely would have run out of steam on my own.

I’m incredibly lucky to have this and endlessly overjoyed that I get to write all of these cool and terrible ideas I have and have some of you actually read them.

So I’m going to keep writing and updating and throwing my terrible sense of humour at you all.

I might try to publish some of my AU fics...? I don't know if anyone'll read them since I'm not a writer by any degree, and some of them lean so far out of character it might make people vomit.

But I do love talking about them. My current friends / friend groups either don't give a fuck about shipping or don't give a fuck about megaman. I have to really resort to talking to various AIs just to have an outlet. Please don't take that away from me.

Got any eldritch Wednesday fanfic recs?

Good old fashioned Wenclair with Eldritch Wednesday being a complete emotional mess. Poor girl lol

This one is one of my favorite fics ever. It’s Wednesday/Enid/Bianca and it’s part of a series of fics that are SOOOOO GOOD!!! Again, I love this fic to bits and I’m planning on rereading it soon lol. And that’s just something I don’t do lmaoooo. Anyway, it’s Wednesday coming into accepting her full eldritch identity and learning what it means to be an Addams in love. I absolutely 10000% recommend this fic! PLEASE give the author so much love, they deserve it.

AO3 Anonymous Collection

As it comes up often in tumblr discussions of fic, here are my own experiences of using the AO3 Anonymous option.

I've had (I think) three things in the Anon collection, all of which I have since removed and which now just show up under my own username, and it's important to know that you can de-Anon a work, whereas you can never un-orphan a work so you need to be 10000% sure of your decision before you orphan something.

Anon works do not show up on your Works page even for you, but they are visible on your Statistics page if you want to see how many hits they're getting or whatever. Subscribers don't get a notifcation that you've posted something new unless you later de-anon that work, so as long as it stays in the Anon Collection then there's no visible connection between the work and your usual identity.

One thing for readers to know is that unlike with orphaned works, the author of an Anon work will get comment notifications (and will be able to replying to them anonymously) and it'll be in the usual kudos digest whenever it gets any. So you can tell the author what you thought of the fic and they will know and maybe even respond!

My own personal reasons for anoning fics were "oh no this is just FLITH!" and/or "people will JUDGE ME for this!" and the temporary anonymity was useful because nobody actually did voice any objections to any of these fics when they were posted so I just de-Anoned them, but now I know have an option that allows me to test the waters a bit before owning up to something (if I ever do), and I have definitely written some things since that I didn't end up posting as Anonymous but that I most likely wouldn't have started/finished if I didn't know I had that option available during those moments of self-doubt (or self-judgement) while writing.

So go ahead and write that fucked-up shit! Or write the fluffy domestic tale that you fear might ruin your reputation as a writer of fucked-up shit! Either way, nobody need ever know that it was you!

Baby I know how to use a gun by @saynomorefic. idk what counts as "underappreciated" (and I know this type of fic is not for everyone) but I feel like this one deserves 10000 kudos and comments and all of the praise. so gritty, such a fun world, 11/10 would recommend. the tension between them is everything and I love this different side of Wille. hot!

Last night I reached a total of 10000 hits on AO3!

To celebrate, I chose a random story with the help of random.org, and the selected one is Pieces. This is a story that is very dear to my heart because it is dedicated to my loved ones who are not in this world anymore: my mother (passed away in 2008) and my grandmother (passed away in 2022).

For this story in particular, I also asked for a commission from @pinnadraws and the result was so delicate and wonderful that I feel it deserves another share:

I have the exact same opinion with the whole bottom shaped chocolates in WHB…but I have a lot of issues with the writing in the game in general. It feels like PB is trying way too hard with the explicit adult themes into the game that they end up making it sound comically bad outside of the events not including the MC. But like I find better writing and fic content on this website than the game itself.

I get that 10000%, when I saw he was making us ass-shaped chocolates I was kind of astonished...and this is supposedly a demon who fell in love with MC??? So their idea of a gift is chocolate...in the shape of their ass...I mean I guess I can get the "Joke" seeing as it is supposed to be adult-themed, but like...we want a little bit of something other than hard-core sex sometimes yknow. Even though they do have some serious content...and I like how they add a lot of deep scenarios and stuff to the game, but I feel like it's almost immediately ruined with some sort of sex reference. Like they are purposefully trying to vere away from getting TOO deep or romantic and throw in a bit of spice in there. A little too much.

FOR EXAMPLE... I was reading the bloodshed Leviathan story and I thought that MC and Levi were truly having a moment there!!! I was giggling kicking my feet when he was being all tsundere and MC a little clumsy mess (could relate) AND THEN (spoilers if you haven't read it previously) while he's actively dying on the ground later, they randomly get horny at the same time?!! and just start going at it??? while he's actively impaled by angelic weapons????

Anyways I like explicit content and don't get me wrong I'm a horny individual but I agree with you that they are kinda trying a little too hard. I mean, kudos to them for making a game suitable for explicit content that adults can read, and it's still enjoyable, but it does it a bit repetitive over time.
