God i had to tell a customer the reason the company i work for sends discounts six months before the last inspection date for cars (genuinely no clue why im lying all the time) and i bullshit it and they told me they felt it was very misleading and wrong, like yah, i agree but I can't fkn say that now can I these calls are recorded hahdhfjfbgng go somewhere else this company is so so expensive for no reason pls do u rlly think even the ceo is aware of that? That was someone's "genius" idea to steal customers from other companies and lie to customers BUT I CAN'T SAY THAT PLEASE WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO TELL YOU??? LIKE YEAH I agree lets move one i gotta explain to another person why there are two different dates on their last inspection protocol

Okay, so to find their momentum after they collide, we use the principle of the conservation of momentum. This means the total momentum before the collision is equal to the total momentum after the collision.
m1 = mass of hockey puck = 0,115 kg
v1 = initial velocity of the hockey puck= 35 m/s
m2 = mass of octopus = 0,265 kg (idk if it's 265 or 255 😅 but the important thing is the formula)
v2 = initial velocity of the octopus = 0 m/s since it's initially at rest
vf = final velocity of the puck and octopus together = ?
The total initial momentum is
p(initial) = m1•v1 + m2 • v2
Octopus is at rest so v2=0
p (initial) = m1• v1+ m2 • 0
p (initial) = m1 • v1 + 0
p (initial) = 0,115 • 35
p (initial) = 4.025 kg • m/s
Then we have the total final momentum ie when the octopus and puck slide off together p (final), formula:
p (final) = (m1+m2) • vf
Following the conservation of momentum
p (initial) = p (final)
4.025 = (0.115 + 0.265) • vf
4.025 = 0.38 vf
For vf
vf= 4.025/0.38
vf = 10.5921 m/s
So the puck and the velocity of the puck and the octopus taking a ride on it is 10.5921 m/s.
Usually professors may ask you to "circle it" (idk the English expression) onto 2 decimals:
vf ≈ 10.59 m/s
Of course, just check the numbers in case while typing this I wrote a decimal wrong but the formulas remain.
I miss fun physics tasks 😭 this was so cute. I loved it. Thank you! ❤️ And hope I helped!
Also, by weight, this is a baby octopus they threw at the ice. How cruel. Adult octopuses weigh 3-10 kg!
I hope the baby octopus is okay!
Thank you for the ask, and totally send me more of these if you need help with some, these are fun!

The Slovak thrift shops are literally on a different level. Please allow me to boast a lil.
So in the past 2 weeks I've seen the statues of Persephone, Hebe, Aphrodite, Venus and a few others I couldn't identify, starting from 2 to 10€ (~2.12-10.59$) each. I've also seen (and obv immediately bought) statues of Apollo and Asklepius for 6 € (~6.35$) each. There's also a huge alabaster statue of Zeus for 63€ (66,69$) that I'm literally drooling over every time I see it on their website lol.
And when I thought it could not become better, this drops:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like... 40 cents...
I don't need this particular one, but damn what a find
Beside all the statues I've found a bunch of Greek and Greek like vases, and more obvious things like cool animal statues, tableware etc.
Moral of the story? Don't underestimate the power of thrift shops.
Thank you for listening to my happy rant :)

7, 13, and 15 for the historical asks
Thank you for the ask!
7. Historical dressing, uniform or costume?
When I was 13, I sewed my own tunica and paenula and wore them to school so I think they deserve the spotlight!
Tunica

Paenula

I actually got into the school yearbook so here's that.

13. Something random about some random historical person in a random era.
For some reason whenever someone asks me a question like that, I freeze up and literally can't think of anything!
I'll just say what I usually say when someone asks me for a random fun fact. Apparently Nero and Britannicus had some birds that were taught to say a few things in Greek and Latin.
"At the moment that I am writing this, the young Caesars (Nero and Britannicus) have a starling and some nightingales that are being taught to talk in Greek and Latin; besides which, they are studying their task the whole day, continually repeating the new words that they have learnt, and giving utterance to phrases even of considerable length." Pliny the Elder, The Natural History, 10.59
Tumblr media
Omg omg omg. That's so cute! So cute! My heart can't take it. Especially with what happened in the end. . .
Anyway, @the-little-fox-in-the-box I know you will love that quote.
15. Were the history classes teached in an interesting way in your school/ college/ university? What would you do to improve them if you were the teacher / lecturer?
Uhhhh it really depends on what was being taught! I think generally, the history of other places was taught in a much more engaging and interesting way than how the history of Canada was taught. And guess what 99% of the history classes were about :(
Canadian history.
I think that the history of Canada should be taught more similarly to how the history of other places is taught. It's like they want us to forget Canadian history!
Generally when we were taught Canadian history, we never got any creative assignments. We only got extremely boring quizzes and tests. And the assignments that are literally just tests you get to bring home.
But when we were taught Renaissance history, all our assignments were super creative. I got to compare art styles and have interviews with Dante and Petrarch and stuff like that. And I still know a lot about this part of history and I would happily study about it, which I cannot say about Canadian history.
For non-Canadian history, I think it was taught well and it was engaging and interesting. My only critiques are of the content itself. I think very often they kind of zoom into one perspective and refuse to look anywhere else. But that's not how it was taught, but what was taught, which isn't really what this question is asking.
Why can't we have creative ways to apply our knowledge in Canadian history? The way I was taught it, we were pretty much just encouraged to memorize the summaries of a bunch of dull events to regurgitate during a test and never care about ever again.
So yeah, if I was the teacher, I'd just teach all the history as if it were non-Canadian history.

Donations
The local charity shop has sold some of my donations and made £42.36 and claimed £10.59 gift aid from the government for last tax year. Which means they've raised £52.95 from stuff I didn't want, and likely someone else has got something they like at a cheaper price. Pretty decent for stuff that had literally no value just sitting on my shelves taking up valuable space.

10.59 TO A READER DIFFICULT TO PLEASE:
If one subject occupies a whole page, you pass over it; short epigrams, rather than good ones, seem to please you. A rich repast, consisting of every species of dish, is set before you, but only dainty bits gratify your taste. I do not covet a reader with such an over-nice palate; I want one that is not content to make a meal without bread.
