My 9-5 is helping people get their GED in NY.

NY is a rare state where taking the HSE GED exam is free to the examinee, it's provided by the state. And as such it has firmer rules that must be met in order to take the HSE GED.

NY requires examinees to provide proof of NY residency for at least 30 days prior to the exam date cause they aren't going to allow anyone who doesn't live in NY to take it on their dime.

But they also require proof of age eligibility for any examinee who is younger than 19 to even schedule themselves for exam dates. The GED website doesn't allow them to until the state has processed the paperwork that proves they are age eligible. There are a few ways for 16-18 year olds to be eligible.

One of the ways is to have at least reached maximum compulsory school attendance (age 16 by July 1) and be homeschooled, with a written sign off from the school district that the child resides in that they have met the NY homeschooling requirements.

And the amount of times I've had to handle cases where a minor who is under 19 moved to NY with their family at some point after they started homeschooling elsewhere and then can't meet the homeschooling requirements is staggering.

Most often what has happened is that the parents/guardians never registered or alerted the new school district about their homeschooling plans, which means the school district doesn't even know the child exists. If they moved from a previous state where the regulations were less strict and the child just kept being homeschooled as they had been before the move, often the parents/guardians don't know that NY homeschooling procedure is so different and strict.

It's only when the child gets to be 16-18 and wants to take the GED does this mistake get discovered. Which means that in order to meet requirements the child now has to get years worth of assessments done to meet the expectations of the NY homeschooling curriculum or they don't bother and they are forced to wait till they turn 19 to take the GED.

This is a problem.

If a parent or guardian is going to homeschool a child they should be aware of the policies involved in the process where they reside, especially because the system is so different from state to state. That isn't the responsibility of anyone else and it certainly shouldn't be the responsibility of the child. And if the district doesn't know the child exists they can't get involved at all.

homeschooling in the US needs to be regulated but this is one of those conversations that immediately gets crushed by extremist conservatives and even well-meaning liberals will pipe up to be like "well some homeschooling is good!" when that's absolutely not relevant. regulation will not change anything for the homeschooling families who are serious about their children's education. the people who need to be regulated are the fringe extremists

Just received valid source info that voting machines in Albany, GA precincts had their clocks off by 12 hrs, but votes cast after 7pm won’t be counted.

My source voted at 10:23AM, but noticed their receipt said 10:23PM. Sup of Elections acknowledged and corrected the issue, but because the voter already cast their vote they won’t be able to redo.

This is only one precinct in one county.

How widespread is this?

Melusine – mythical humanoid serpent transformed into a dragon

Melusine is a water spirit from French folklore and an example of human–animal marriage as well as princess Toyotama (See) in the East. She is a humanoid hybrid whose upper body is that of a beautiful woman in medieval costume, but whose lower body is that of a snake, and is also said to be a dragon nymph, as she has dragon wings on her back. She is also sometimes thought to be associated with mermaid lore. The Starbucks logo is also inspired by her.

Mélusine was the daughter of Pressine, the Fountain Fay, and Elinas, King of Albany, Scotland. Her mother placed a curse on Mélusine and her sisters that for one day a week they would assume the form of a snake from the waist down. Furthermore, if anyone saw them in their true form, they would be permanently remain forever the lower body of a snake and with wings.

Raymondin, Count of Poitou, who had left his family after accidentally killing his uncle, while hunting in the forest, met Melusine one day, fell in love and married her after making a covenant that he would never look at her on Saturdays. She brought her husband wealth and they had ten children. 

However, when her husband heard a malicious rumour, he broke his promise and saw Melusine's true identity while she was bathing. Locked alone in her room, her upper body was human, but her lower body was that of a giant snake (or fish). She then assumes the form of a dragon, provides him with two magic rings, and flies off, never to be seen again. She returns only at night to nurse her two youngest children, who are still infants. Although many of Melusine's children had the nature of monsters, it is said that the future French monarch stood from the lineage of two children born normal.

Zachary Adam Heckler was born on May 1rst 1981 to parents Mark and Veronica Heckler in Albany, New York.

He has a sister named Jocelyn Heckler which was a student at Columbine at the time of the shooting as well.

➛ Zach drove a blue Nissan from 1987 that he presumably shared with his dad.

➛ Zach’s parking spot was #259.

➛ Zach offered rides home to other students frequently.

➛ Zach was really talented with everything that had to do with computers.

➛ Zach worked at Black Jacks Pizza for a few months.

Relationship with Eric & Dylan

Zach stated that him, Eric & Dylan all had been good friends since 8th grade although Eric held a grudge against Zach in summer of 98 for unknown reasons.

The 3 of them made the “jo mamma jokes” on eric’s website.

Zach and Dylan initially went on the “Rebel Missions” together and had Eric join them later. (rebel missions: egging and toilet papering houses and shooting BB guns at the windows of people they didn’t like and lighting firecrackers in their neighbourhoods; basically vandalism).

In Eric’s diary entries about these “missions” he often writes about “Vodka” and “Kibbz” being together while he did something else.

Zach, Eric, and Dylan got suspended for hacking into the schools computer system to obtain locker codes of people they didn’t like, specifically a student that had been close to Zach’s girlfriend Devon, to leave threatening messages.

Zach, Eric and Dylan had an online threesome clan named Reb-VoDkA-Kibbz from which Zach was kicked out by Eric. They later named it Rebel Clan.

Eric

Zach stated that him and Eric last had a "real" conversation at a Party in Robyn Anderson's house.

After the suspension for hacking into the school system, his parents forbid him to have contact with Eric.

Eric had a crush on Zach’s girlfriend Devon.

Zach knew about the fact that Eric built pipe bombs.

Eric asked Zach if he knew how to make napalm.

Dylan

Dylan refers to Zach as his "best friend" whereas Eric is just a "good friend" to Dylan. Dylan and Zach called every night after school, talking or playing games like Quake or Doom together.

On the night before the shooting, Zach tried to call Dylan but he was already on line with someone else. As Dylan called back later at around 10:30pm he told Zach that he wasn't in the mood for talking and wanted to go to sleep which Zach found strange since Dylan usually stayed up until 12:30 - 1 am

When Zach got with his girlfriend Devon, Dylan described this as Devon “stealing” Zach from him. Dylan and Zach used to confide in each other about their suicidal thoughts but when Zach got his girlfriend, he talked with her about his problems and Dylan felt left alone.

Zach stated that he saw Dylan and Robyn Anderson at prom but they barely/didnt interact with each other.

Zach stated that Dylan was “too stupid” for computer science and wanted him replaced with another student.

Zach told Dylan that he was bad at sound boarding (in theatre) and wanted him replaced with Yoshi Carroll.

A few months before the shooting, Zach seemed to distance himself from Dylan which can be seen in following clip:

Zach complains about something and Dylan approaches him, asking what’s wrong. Zach just walks past him, blatantly ignoring Dylan.

Shooting & Aftermath

Zach was in geometry class when the shooting began. He and his sister escaped unharmed.

When Zach heard about the shooting and the perpetrators “being memebers of the trench coat mafia” he immediately thought of Eric and Dylan.

Zach provided consent to the investigators to seize 2 computer systems and a laptop from his home.

Zach gave the FBI the usernames and passwords to Chris Morris and Devon Addams AOL / ICQ accounts.

Zach agreed to do a polygraph test considering his knowledge about Eric and Dylan’s plans of the shooting. His results came out as inconclusive and therefore no diagnostic opinion could be rendered.

Zach often came to his friend Yoshi Carroll’s house after the shooting.

We don't directly have a song about a vampire and a werewolf together (yet), but we do have some new songs in the works: One about a vampire, one about a werewolf, and some others. (But if we did write that song, they'd definitely be in a polycule together.)

Realistically speaking we probably won't have any new recorded music until sometime next year. But we may play some of the new songs at our upcoming live shows if you happen to be in the Bay Area! Our next show is a Halloween show on Thursday, 10/24 at the Ivy Room in Albany, CA.

This weekend on Sunday, October 20th, we’ll be joining A Big Gay Market again in Albany! From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., vendors will be set up in the Washington Park Lake House and in tents around it – Duck Prints Press will be inside, and I’ll be masked the entire time, not solely during the mask-only hour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Spread among 13 occupied and historic royal residences in the United Kingdom, the collection is owned by King Charles III and overseen by the Royal Collection Trust. The British monarch owns some of the collection in right of the Crown and some as a private individual. It is made up of over one million objects, including 7,000 paintings, over 150,000 works on paper, this including 30,000 watercolours and drawings, and about 450,000 photographs, as well as around 700,000 works of art, including tapestries, furniture, ceramics, textiles, carriages, weapons, armour, jewellery, clocks, musical instruments, tableware, plants, manuscripts, books, and sculptures.

Some of the buildings which house the collection, such as Hampton Court Palace, are open to the public and not lived in by the Royal Family, whilst others, such as Windsor Castle, Kensington Palace and the most remarkable of them, Buckingham Palace are both residences and open to the public.

About 3,000 objects are on loan to museums throughout the world, and many others are lent on a temporary basis to exhibitions.
