very loosely interpreting the prompt for today but i've had this idea for a while and... secret identities, Superheroes, that works. anyone who knows me well probably could have seen something like this coming LMAO

also trying to draw Robin & Superboy costumes that look thrown together and home-made when i have spent so much time drawing their actual designs was a challenge

10/2/24 WIP Wednesday (Closed) | TBD AU

“You want me to stay here?” he asks wanting to be sure that he understands and that this isn’t the result of some sort of hallucination brought upon by his head injury that everyone seems to be so concerned about.

“You have a head injury. I… don’t want you to be alone.” Neil explains, “We’ll just hang out on the TV. We can watch something mindless.” Neil offers and Andrew does enjoy mindless television.

But this is new.

Neil and Andrew have always had something that they were doing when they were hanging out before. Whether that be throwing axes, eating dinner, or any of the other myriad of activities that the two of them had gotten up to…there was always a purpose to what they were doing.

This, even if Neil was framing it as being worried for Andrew’s health, was just hanging out with one another.

you might be fooled, from statistics, that most trains in britain acually run on time. it's something like 98%! that's amazing! maybe even worth paying 5x as much as everyone else for

it is also a straight up lie because "on time" actually means "within 10 minutes of the scheduled time"

Kevin’s hands shoot out towards her and she tells herself that she has on protective gear and she knows that all of it is on perfectly because Kevin put it-

Aw fuck he knows where all the weak points are too. Oh man this is going to hurt isn’t-

Kevin’s hands land on her shoulders and he has on a smile so big that it almost breaks his face as he looks at her.

“Dimples.” Janie can’t help but comment

“You have the reflexes and athleticism of a Division 1 athlete but I don’t have to have you unlearn all the wrong things.” Kevin says, choosing to ignore her comment on his, frankly, astonishingly charming dimples.

God no wonder Neil fell for this guy.

Random question but what do you think has been the best arc of tbhk? Is it the one you enjoy the most?

The best arc was picture perfect, we got Hanako at his best (he was built for an antagonistic role and I say this with the utmost pride), good characterization for EVERYONE, and Mei! Mei's story is so good, the conclusion made me go 'oh' out loud.

My favorite/the one I enjoy the most is the Grim Reaper arc, or the clock keepers! (The one of chap 23-27, the current one is my least favorite)

Children of a Lesser God (1986). A new speech teacher at a school for the deaf falls in love with the janitor, a deaf woman speechless by choice.

In many ways it's a challenge to write about this movie knowing the abuse Marlee Matlin suffered and survived in her personal relationship with William Hurt. It adds new shades to the power dynamic between the characters, and ultimately becomes hard to divorce from the story itself. Still, the cinematography's beautiful, and Marlee Matlin's performance is staggering, and while the script sings in parts, it feels fetishistic in others. I don't know. It's definitely one I'm still thinking about it. 6/10.
