Why JJ calls you ‘Bambi’
Tumblr media
Summary: the reason jj calls you that aggravating nickname
Warnings: none
A/N: this takes place approximately three years before the main series
Hate Myself for Loving You Masterlist
・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚.
“I don’t know, JB,” You said hesitantly, “This might not be a good idea.”
Your brother threw his head back with a groan, “Come on, you’re twelve now. It’s about time you learned.”
“What if I’m not good at it, though?” You had begun nervously playing with your hands.
“That’s why I’m here,” He said reassuringly, gently tapping his surfboard against yours, “Now, let’s go. The waves are great today.”
With that, John B began wading into the ocean water, but you stayed back a moment, still hesitating.
“I’m pretty sure you’re the only person on this island that didn’t learn how to surf when you were seven.” The aggravating voice of none other than JJ Maybank sounded in your ear like a chirping bird that wouldn’t shut up in the morning.
A scowl immediately formed on your lips, and instead of answering the boy, you surged forward, hopefully leaving him behind.
Your prayers didn’t seem to be answered though, because you heard some splashing behind you that told you he had followed with his own surfboard.
“Out here!” John B waved you over from where he sat on his board a few yards out.
Slowly, you swam and pushed your surfboard to where he was.
JJ laughed, “You have to get on it,” He called, paddling up beside you.
You stifled a groan, closing your eyes and tilting your head to face the heavens, “Did he really have to be here?” You asked your brother with a slight whine in your voice.
He just shrugged, “I didn’t invite him, he just tagged along.”
A glare was thrown in the blond boy's direction by you, “Hear that? You weren’t invited. So get out of here.”
His mouth opened, no doubt to let out a smart ass comment, but John B interrupted with an exhausted sigh, “Guys, stop it.” He was long since used to your bickering.
He sent a warning look in his best friend's direction, “We’re here to teach her how to surf. If you’re not going to either help or stay quiet, then leave.”
He chose to stay quiet.
For the next half hour, your brother went through the motions with you, teaching you how to stand correctly and how to catch a wave.
JJ stayed silent the whole time, and you were grateful. It was probably the longest he had ever gone without talking.
“- no, move your foot closer to the center-“ Your brother instructed you, only to be cut off by toppling over the side of his board. He hadn’t been paying attention to an incoming wave.
You sighed tiredly as he was submerged, knowing he was fine, but still tired from all the work it took to learn.
Just then, a laugh sounded from the side, causing your head to whip over and eyes to narrow in onto the Maybank boy.
“What?” You snapped.
“N-no, it’s- it’s just…” He laughed again, “You look like Bambi from that old Disney movie during the scene where it tried walking for the first time. It’s like you trying to stay standing on that thing.”
Your cheeks flushed red just in time for John B to resurface.
“Okay,” he said, “Are you ready to try again?”
“Yeah, Bambi,” JJ spoke with a wide grin, “Ready to try again?”
It took everything in you not to lunge across the water and tackle him off his board.

But mostly, I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close.
Chapter seven is finally up on AO3!
Chrissy and Eddie have been best friends since middle school, ever since that one misguided kiss led to them coming out to each other in a panic. In order to shield themselves from the town’s homophobia, they promised that they’ll help each other find love; and that they won’t date until the other one does. Now, four years later, Robin finds out about their deal and in an attempt to shoot her shot with Chrissy, convinces Steve to take Eddie out on a date. The problem is Steve thinks he’s straight and Eddie hates him.
Or
A fic based on 10 Things I Hate About You, where the last thing that happened with the Upside Down was Starcourt (but Billy was never involved) and Eddie, Chrissy, Robin and Steve are trying to navigate their senior year and maybe, hopefully find love.
Chapter Synopsis
Robin has a tense dinner with her parents and Chrissy comes over for a French lesson. Steve tries to make it up to Eddie with a grand gesture. Eddie lets him take him out on a date.

wip wednesday! I hit 50k on 10 things au today!
“Are you sure your family likes me?” TK asks, leaning on the bar as Carlos reaches across for another glass of wine. Now that the formal part of the evening is over, his top button is undone, his tie pulled slightly loose and his hair a little less perfect. It might have something to do with the seven minutes of heaven in the restrooms earlier, which was outrageously risky, but TK wasn’t about to say no once Carlos dragged him in there.
“I think Tía Lucy wants to adopt you,” Carlos replies, thanking the bartender before shooting TK a wry smile. “Which would make things really complicated. So if she asks, please say—”
“Shut up, dude,” TK snorts. “Be serious. I want them to like me.”
“They like you, TK,” Carlos insists. “My mom is acting like you’re the one marrying my sister. You know it’s rude to show up Eren on his wedding day, right?”
“Ugh,” TK groans, rolling his eyes as Carlos bats him on the arm playfully. “You’re the worst. It wasn’t your sister I was making out with in the bathroom.”
Carlos raises his glass. “Thank god for that.”
“Speaking of which, should we—”
“Do you want to go outside for a bit?” Carlos asks, tilting his head towards the lamp-lit decking. “I hear there’s a dark corner with your name on it.”

I Hate That I Don't Hate You (Part 1 of 2)
Based on this request:  Can I request a Jaime x reader. Maybe themed around 10 things I hate about you? Her as Kat and him as Patrick. She’s a Stark and maybe they can only pair off Sansa when reader is so they ask Jaime to charm her but they end up falling for each other?
Here you are, lovelies! *Familiar characters are NEVER mine!* Also, this was getting rather long, so I've split it into 2 parts.
Warnings: Modern/Movie based AU (10 Things I Hate About You), angst, a smidge of fluff.
Pairings/Characters: Jaime Lannister x fem!Stark reader, mentions of other Starks, Tyrion, and Podrick.
Tumblr media
Jaime stared at the two men in front of him. "Perhaps I misheard. You want me to…what?"
"Ask Y/N Stark on a date." Jaime blinked in surprise before gazing around to see if he could spot you. This was not what he expected from today. At all. "Why?" he finally asked when he couldn't see you. The young man in front of him sighed. "A mutual acquaintance wants to go out with Sansa, but Sansa can't date until her older sister does. You're about the same age and seem like the kind of guy she'd go for."
"What's in it for me?" Jaime asked. "What do you want?" Jaime let his eyes wander again. This time, he did spot you in the crowd. "Hold that thought," he replied before getting up to approach you. You friend spotted Jaime before you did and gestured in his direction. Your head snapped over to him.
Jaime supposed, up close, you were rather attractive. For a Stark, anyway. As he drew nearer to you, you cocked a brow at him. "Is there a reason I'm being graced with all your glorious majesty this morning, Lannister, or am I just unlucky?" you snarked, earning a giggle from your friend who Jaime now recognized as Margaery Tyrell. Oh this was going to cost Tyrion and Podrick. Still, Jaime liked a challenge and you were certainly a challenge.
When Jaime didn't reply, you simply rolled your eyes and turned away. Jaime walked back to Tyrion. "I do this, the two of you owe me. Big time. Y/N Stark is not a woman easily tamed." Both Tyrion and Podrick agreed and Jaime smiled. Let the fun begin.
*time skip. Your POV*
"What the hells is Lannister's problem?" you grumbled, shoving the note into your locker before grabbing your books and slamming the door fiercely. You jumped at the sight of Jaime standing next to you yet again. You sighed loudly. Why wouldn't he just leave you alone? "My problem is that my charm seems to be failing me. I've been trying to get your attention for weeks now."
"What do you want? Seriously, three weeks ago, you didn't even know my name and now you won't leave me be," you told him, exasperated. You began to walk away when his next words froze you in place. "I want to date you." You slowly turned to face him as your mouth hung open in shock. "You what?"
"Just one date, Y/N. If you still hate me after, you'll never have to speak to me again." You narrowed your eyes at him. He was being suspiciously nice to you. Aside from Tyrion, most Lannisters avoided or hated your family. Still, you'd never had anyone else brave enough to ask you out. You thought about Sansa, who desperately wanted to date another boy in school but couldn't unless you dated first.
You let out another long sigh and nodded. "Fine, Lan-Jaime. One date." The smirk on Jaime's face grew. You held up a hand to stop him from speaking, "BUT! I reserve the right to leave at any time." Jaime nodded. "Great. Pick you up Friday at 7." He jogged away before you could argue. You shook your head wondering what you'd just gotten yourself into.
That Friday, you sighed as you waited for Jaime's car to pull into driveway. "Where are you going?" Sansa asked you. "Out, Sansa. On a…date." Sansa's face lit up with excitement. If you hit it off with your date, Sansa would be able to start dating. But when your date pulled up and she realized it was Jaime Lannister, her face fell. There was no way the two of you would get along well enough.
"Jaime Lannister?" she asked quietly, but not quietly enough for your father not to hear.  "What about Jaime Lannister?"
"Y/N's got a date with him," Sansa announced and you rolled your eyes. "A date?" Another sigh. "Yes, a date. He asked…more like begged, and I said yes. That's it. Nothing more." Before anyone could argue, the bell rang and you raced to answer it before any of your siblings could. When the door was open, you froze a little.
Jaime Lannister was a good looking guy. There was absolutely no denying that. You'd be lying if you said you didn't notice before, but this was completely different.  You couldn't tell what it was, but he exuded confidence and something else that you felt guilty thinking about with your younger siblings in the room.
It wasn't until Jaime cleared his throat that you realized you were staring. You glanced at his face to see that damned smirk of his gracing his lips yet again. "Let's go, Lannister. If this date's a bust, I'd like to be back home before my show comes on." Jaime laughed and offered his arm to you. You took it and let him lead you to his car as you mentally prepared yourself for a long night.
*Jaime's POV*
Jaime did his best to impress you, but nothing seemed to work. You just weren't a easy nut to crack. You didn't trust people at all, but Jaime was determined to change that. He wasn't about to fail. Not when Tyrion was counting on him. Plus, you were the first woman to not give a damn about his family's influence or wealth. It was nice.
As the night went on, however, you seemed to loosen up a bit. Jaime even got you to smile once. That was a win in his book considering how long it had taken just to get that. When Jaime pulled into your driveway after your date had come to an end, you shifted in your seat to face him as best you could.
"Alright, Jaime. I have to admit that wasn't the complete disaster I thought it would be." Jaime chuckled, his voice filling the car. "High praise indeed, Miss Stark." Your rolled your eyes, but smiled at him again anyway. Jaime continued, "Would you want to do it again?" Your brows rose a little and you asked if he was sure he wanted to go out with you again.
In that moment, Jaime swore you were one of the most adorable people he'd ever met. He had never seen you look so unsure. "Yeah. Why not? We had fun, I like your company. And your face isn't too bad either…when you're not scowling at me, that is." You playfully glared at him and sat in silence for a moment while you contemplated your answer. "I suppose one more date couldn't hurt. Just to make sure this was actually a good one." Jaime laughed again as you climbed out of the car.
Your and Jaime's relationship seemed to advance quickly after that first date. And day-by-day, Jaime became more and more enamored by you. You were so much more than the frosty woman people thought you were. Underneath that icy exterior was a warm, kind, and compassionate person. You loved fiercely and loyally. You were also so intelligent, even helping Jaime with his coursework from time to time. Your quick wit and sharp tongue could even put Tyrion to shame sometimes. Jaime found himself falling head over heels in love with you. There was only one problem. His agreement with Tyrion.
The guilt began to gnaw at Jaime the more time he spent with you. But it was only after your fifth date, when you let him kiss you, that Jaime decided enough was enough. To this very day, Jaime had no clue why he chose to confront Tyrion at school that day instead of at home. Maybe it was because Podrick was with him. But with just a few words, Jaime's world came crashing down.
"The deal's off," he told the two younger men, "I won't do it anymore. I should have never agreed to it in the first place." Tyrion arched a brow and smirked. "Could it be that my dear brother has developed feelings for a certain Stark sister?"
"Tyrion, this isn't a game. I don't care. You don't owe me anything. I was stupid to ask Y/N for a profit anyway." Tyrion didn't reply, his gaze somewhere behind Jaime. Jaime felt ice creep down his spine when, from behind him, he heard, "You asked me out…for a bribe?"
(a/n: I hope like it! The second part is almost finished and will hopefully be posted in a few days!)

10 Things I Hate About You; Part: 1
Tumblr media
Summary: a normal class led to a less than normal deal
Paring: Sirius Black x reader
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: none
A/N: This series is roughly based on the movie: 10 Things I Hate About You, with each chapter being based on a different part of the poem from within the film
·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙
I hate the way you talk to me
A sigh rattled off from your lips as you eyed the hard cover book that lay on your desk, waiting to be opened and read.
Professor Fernsby, your muggle studies teacher, let out an even louder and longer sigh than yours as he dropped his head into his hand and raised a bored eyebrow in your direction, “Yes, Miss-I-have-an-opinion-about- everything?”
A couple of the students in your class let out sniggers, but you paid them no mind as you answered back, “I just don’t see how reading a textbook about muggles is going to actually help us better understand their world?” Though it was in fact a statement, you made it sound like a question to hopefully avoid being sent to the headmasters office again, “Why don’t we just read a book that was actually written by one of them?”
Your professor never did like the fact that you always spoke your mind.
Just as he was about to open his mouth, most likely to tell you off, the door in the back of the classroom was slammed open, and in stumbled a winded looking Sirius Black.
“What did I miss?” He asked dramatically in between large gulps of air, to which many students laughed loudly.
You didn’t even spare the boy a glance as you spoke, “Just the non-belief of students having opinions in our education system.”
He grinned, “Perfect,” and turned on his heel to exit, but was stopped by your professor's booming voice.
“Wait,” The boy froze as a seat in the corner of the room was pointed to by Fernsby, “Park it.”
Sirius threw a wink to a group of giggling girls in the other corner of the room before sauntering over to his seat.
You rolled your eyes at his dramatics, not nearly as amused as everybody else in the room.
“Now,” The professor's attention was turned back towards you, “As for you, Miss. Potter…”
Sirius didn’t even bother listening to anything else as he plopped down in his seat, the entirety of Hogwarts long since used to your ‘outbursts’ in class.
This was sadly one of the only classes he didn’t have with any of his friends, him having taken muggle studies to spite his parents, while the rest of the marauders had a different class filling in this period.
“Black.” Derek Creevy greeted from beside him with a smirk.
Sirius didn’t know if he would consider Derek a friend, but the boy never gave him any problems, and he could be a good fellow when he wanted to be.
He gave him a nod in return, already counting down the minutes until he would be free of this class.
The same group of giggling girls caught the duo's attention as they threw flirty winks and kisses towards the black haired boy.
Creevy raised his eyebrow as he observed Sirius send a single kiss back in return and the girls fawned over his action.
“Wow, Black,” He teased with a slight hint in his tone that gave off that he was impressed, “You seem to have every girl in Hogwarts in your pocket.”
The words made Sirius grin as he leaned back in his chair and ran a hand through his long hair, “What can I say?” His voice was cocky as ever, “I can make any girl fall in love with me.”
Derek laughed along with Sirius, “Any girl?”
“Any girl.” The boy promised.
“You sure?” He sniggered and Sirius’s sure smile faltered a little when he realized the boy was teasing him, not in fact impressed.
Ever the egolistc though, he made sure his smile was back on his face within seconds, at least two times stronger and brighter than the last time. “I’m positive, Creevy.”
“Wanna put money on that?”
Sirius was again, caught off guard by the question, thankful that the professor didn’t actually care about the class and allowed everyone to talk freely, meaning it was too loud for even those sitting close to overhear their conversation.
“What do you have in mind?” He used his smirk to hide the uneasiness he was feeling with all the unexpected and seemingly double layered questions.
Whatever the boy was planning couldn’t be good, but Sirius was never one to back out of a challenge, especially not when someone was so clearly trying to get him to back out.
Derek’s own smirk appeared to be growing more malicious by the minute, “I want you to take out any girl of my choosing, have her become so completely in love with you by the time the winter ball comes around that hearts will be coming out of her eyes.”
The boy felt his eyebrow raise a little bit in surprise. That was it? Take out a girl and show up to the winter ball with her being in love with him? That was still four weeks away, and he had done better in less time.
A small laugh escaped from his lips as he once again relaxed his posture and kicked his feet up onto the desk before him, leaning back so his chair was balancing on two legs, “What’s in it for you?” He asked in amusement.
Creevy simply shrugged, the smirk not disappearing, “Just call it boredom.”
There was most certainly more to it than that, but Sirius barely gave it a second thought as he asked, “How much do you want to put on this?”
Derek looked up to the ceiling as if pondering the question before saying, “Well, I suppose you have to go out on a couple dates before the dance, so it would only be fair to pay you for each one of those as well.” Sirius was liking this more and more by the moment, “So lets say a fair fifty gallons per date, and one hundred if everything goes well at the dance.”
Sirius laughed again, “Oh, it’ll go well.” He assured the boy with a grin before scanning the room, “So, who’s the lucky girl?”
Derek’s smirk finally turned into a full on grin as he crossed his arms over his chest and calmly said, “Y/n Potter.”
If Sirius had been drinking something, he would have spit it out all over the desk in front of him. Instead though, he lost his balance on his chair and almost went toppling down to the ground, gaining some attention from those around him, but he paid them no mind.
“What?!” He exclaimed.
Derek just laughed, offering up no explanation.
Sirius’s eyes snapped to the front of the room where you sat, lazily levitating the textbook you had just been complaining about with a look in your eyes that told Sirius you were debating lighting the pages on fire.
“I- what- but-“ He stuttered over his words, unable to form complete sentences as his wide eyed gaze trained solely on you. He finally swallowed roughly and dropped his voice to a harsh whisper, “But shes my best mates sister!” He hissed, “James would kill me!”
Derek shrugged, “That’s not my problem. But if you can’t do it, then I’ll just find someone else to.”
His heart stopped at the thought of some random guy being paid to take you out. Sure, that’s what he was being offered to do, but what was worse? Him- someone your brother trusted- doing it, or some other, disgusting student who would plan to do Merlin knows what to you?
As the silence carried on between the duo, Derek seemed to be growing more and more amused by Sirius’s lack of communication, “I suppose I’ll just have to find someone else-“
“No!” He automatically snapped before catching himself, “I mean, no,” He said more calmly, “I’ll do it.”
Derek’s grin had returned as he stuck a hand in between the two of them, “Splendid.”
Releasing an inaudible, shaky sigh, Sirius shook his hand.
His head turned back to the front of the room, to where you were rolling your eyes at a Ravenclaw who was talking a little too loudly besides you, and gulped.
✰✰✰
Sirius waited across the door, leaning against the wall with one foot propped up.
As everyone exited the classroom, many girls would linger in front of him for a moment in hopes that he was waiting for them before giving up and stomping away with huffs when he offered them no recognition.
You were the most undateable girl in Hogwarts, and everyone knew it.
It wasn’t just the fact that you had an overprotective twin brother that played a large role in scaring away anyone who tried to ask you out, but also that you didn’t want anybody to. You just let James think that his whole ‘no dating’ rule was his own small victory in the world.
Any person that had by some miracle been able to slip by James’s notice would only be shot down not so nicely by you.
The professor had told you to stay to talk for a little while after the bell- probably due to your outburst- so the boy had decided to wait for you, figuring there was no better time than the present to begin trying to grow closer with you.
When you finally did exit the room, you looked aggravated and annoyed, two tall tale signs that should have screamed at Sirius to stay the hell away from you.
You didn’t so much as glance at him as you wrapped your arms around your books and began stomping down the hall, students scurrying out of your way as if you had the plague.
“Potter!” Sirius called, pushing off the wall, “Hey, Potter! Wait up- Godric, you’re fast!”
You didn’t even bother slowing down as the boy ran to catch up with you, accidentally shoving and apologizing to others around him.
Once he was able to catch up with you, you gave him a sideways glance and raised your eyebrow, “What do you want, Black?”
Like second nature, he immediately slipped back into his cocky, heartbreaking mask and smirked at you as he slowed his pace into a stroll and reached up to run a hand through his hair, “You’re looking well today, love.”
Both of your eyebrows shot up in shock, but not good shock, in an angry shock that only you could so perfectly pull off.
Your steps came to a halt as you whipped around to glare at him, “Excuse me?”
Clearly, you had already been in a bad mood, and his words were not helping, but it was too late to go back now.
“Wow,” He scoffed playfully, “You really know how to get a guy's attention.”
You rolled your eyes, turning back forward and continuing your deadly march, most likely back to the Gryffindor dorms.
“My mission in life.” You shot back flatly.
Slight amusement sparked somewhere inside of him at your comeback, only for it to be painfully stomped out as you shot him another glare when you saw he was still following after you like a lost puppy, “Beat it, Black.”
He held his hands up in mock surrender, beginning to become more and more annoyed with your attitude, “What if I just want to hang out?”
It was then your turn to scoff as you rolled your eyes up to the high ceilings, “You’ve been living at my home all summer, and you never once wanted to ‘hang out’.”
His eyebrows furrowed, “That’s not true.”
An unamused laugh left your lips, “It’s not like I wanted to hang out with you either, Black.” Your eyes quickly flitted over to him in irritation, “But hitting me in the face with a bludger while you and James messed around in the yard doesn’t qualify as ‘hanging out’.”
He thought it over before coming to the realization that that was in fact the only time you had even said a word to each other over break.
It, in truth, been an accident, the two of them had paid no mind to you, down in the garden trying to do some reading in the fresh air, as they soared through the sky in a practice quidditch match.
Of course, he hadn’t meant to hit the rouge bludger your way, but you were knocked unconscious and were very lucky that your mother was home at the time to help patch you up.
“I didn’t mean to,” He rebuttaled.
“Never said you did,” You shot back in annoyance before taking a quick and sudden turn down a separate hallway.
This time, he didn’t follow you. Instead, he just stood there staring after you.
This was going to be a lot harder than he thought.

I just saw 10 things I hate about and immediately thought yeah , this is okay but what if we remove the messed up shit and make it andreil so it becomes prefect? Here's my idea
You know the drill, Katelyn wants to date Aaron but he can't date unless Andrew does because as always, those two are a little fucked up. Enter the only guy who isn't scared of Andrew : Neil. Now , in this universe I want Neil to be his unfiltered self, meaning that he accepts the money Kate gives him because that's what you do when people offer you free money, but he has no intention to go along with the plan. That's because 1 he is as demi as they come 2 he is an asshole but even he can see that making someone believe you fell for them and building a relationship with them just because you've been bribed is just cruel. So Neil won't date Andrew, instead he approaches him ,tells him the whole entire crazy truth about the situation, and proposes that the two share the money and start hanging out to get more money out of Katelyn. And Andrew, against his better judgement, is so fascinated by this unhinged pretty boy that he can't help but agree.
At this point everything is going great, Kate and Aaron are happy, Andrew and Neil are spending more and more time together, trading truths and falling in love. As always they both believe that the other would never reciprocate so they are pining for a while. And , before you ask yes, the scene where he sings for her in front of everybody and the cute date afterwards 100% happen for andreil too, because I say so.
Okay so everything is going great and Kate and Aaron want to go to prom so she pays Neil 300 dollars to make Andrew go as well ( I'm making Kate rich as fuck because otherwise I'd feel so bad for her, she's literally throwing money away). Neil obviously accepts and pretty much offers all the money to Andrew in the form of candy and ice cream and other stuff Andrew requests (Andrew is so smitten that he would go just because Neil asked, but the man has a reputation to uphold ).
What happens at prom and after in the movie doesn't really make sense for this au so I'm deciding that Andrew and Neil are completely bewitched by each other the entire night until they finally kiss and have their happily ever after.

The Deal
Tumblr media
Summary: jj is approached with a challenge that he couldn’t refuse, even if he tried
Warnings: underage drinking, stealing, mentions of killing and violence
A/N: i don’t really know what to think of this series so far- i hope you like it though :)
Hate Myself for Loving You Masterlist
・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚.
JJ Maybank could do anything. That was just common knowledge. The boy could pickpocket without a second thought. Surf the biggest wave in the middle of a hurricane. Run from the cops for hours without breaking a sweat. The list goes on.
But the one thing that JJ Maybank couldn’t do- something that was also common knowledge to the whole island- was back out of a challenge.
If someone so much as uttered that they thought JJ couldn’t- or better yet, wouldn’t- do something, the boy would set himself on a war zone that only ended with him completing the task. Which is why it was best to never even think the words ‘I dare you’ within a five mile radius of the boy.
He supposed that was how he found himself in his current predicament, about to do what could perhaps be considered the stupidest thing he had ever done in his life. And that list was as long as the island.
Of course, JJ would like to say that he had been minding his own business when it happened, but nobody would believe that- not even if they were meeting him for the first time and had only known him for a few seconds.
He had been chatting to some snooty touron that wore a watch that was almost the size of his head and sparkled brightly in the light of the bonfire. Said watch was what JJ was currently trying to discreetly swipe off of the boy's wrist.
“-and then I told her that of course, it was no problem that I paid the ten thousand dollar fine.” He spoke boisterously, clearly trying to attract the attention of others nearby as he flexed his fathers vast fortune.
It took everything the blond boy had not to wrinkle his nose at the realization that people like the kooks lived off the obx as well, that some people weren’t any better off the island.
The tourons words were slurred and he was stumbling while trying to stand in place, watch wearing hand holding onto a red solo cup that had a bit of liquid left sloshing around in it.
JJ figured that the dude was so drunk that he no doubt could have just asked for the watch and he would have given it to him, but stealing it was much more fun.
“Maybank!”
The boy froze for half a second, thoughts of how he was caught slamming into his mind, but he roughly pushed them away. Instead, he finished slipping the watch into his back pocket and put on a neutral face, turning around to face the three advancing figures, the one in the front of the group being the one that had called his name.
“Fellas!” JJ greeted with mock happiness, “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Beat it,” Rafe snapped at the touron who’s eyebrows had furrowed at being interrupted, but the drunk guy stumbled away nonetheless, muttering under his breath as he went.
So this wasn’t about the watch, they would have called him out in front of the touron if it was.
Topper was leading the pack with Kelce and Rafe right on his heels, which was slightly strange, considering the fact that Rafe was always the one taking charge.
Right now though, it was clear why Topper was in the front. He had a look that could kill on his face and JJ was on the receiving end of it. Whatever the boy did must have been bad. Too bad he couldn’t for the life of him remember what it was.
“You,” Topper seethed, surging forward and seizing the boy by the collar, shaking him for good measure, “You need to keep your little friend away from her.”
Now JJ was confused, “Who?” He asked dumbly.
“Routledge.” The blond angrily turned him around to face the direction of where John B was happily chatting to Sarah Cameron by the fire, “You need to keep him the hell away from Sarah.”
Realization dawned on Maybank before the confusion kicked back in, “I don’t have anything to do with that.”
Topper smiled suddenly, a chilling smile that even made JJ uneasy, and he released his hold on the boy, making a show of smoothing out his shirt for him.
“Of course not, but you could always steer his attention away.” Topper spoke smoothly, “There’s some ways to do that, like, oh, I don’t know… dating his sister.”
JJ’s heart dropped into the pit of his stomach, “What?”
Kelce shrugged nonchalantly, “Everyone knows he hates the idea of his little sister dating, so what better way to distract him than his own best friend taking her out?”
His face turned up in disgust at the thought that these boys assumed they could just tell him to take you out. As if they had any say over your life, “Why the hell would I do that?”
“Oh, we’re intending to pay you, of course.” Topper was now speaking as if it was just a normal conversation, “For every date that you take her out on, we’re willing to pay two hundred dollars.”
That was more than he made in two weeks when he worked at that fancy country club.
“And don’t worry,” Rafe jumped in with a menacing smile, “We’re not expecting you to do this forever. Just until the midsummers dance, that way it distracts John B long enough for Topper to get back with Sarah.”
Two hundred dollars.
“And what if I say no?” JJ challenged with a raised eyebrow, trying to keep his composure.
Topper shrugged, “We could always have someone else go out with her. Someone who would do it for far less of a price. Come on, Maybank. What’re you, scared?”
Uh oh. That was a challenge. Something that he couldn’t back out of, even if he tried. It was a pointless battle against himself, and he knew it.
JJ’s stomach churned with worry and disgust. Of course, he knew how awful their offer was- being paid to take you out. But what if he didn’t? What if someone else was taking you out, someone with far worse intentions.
You and JJ might not always get along, but he couldn’t do that to you. That wouldn’t be right. Not to mention John B would kill him. Well, he would anyway if he took you out.
There was a hard look in his eyes when he spoke next, a sort of serious determination that was exceedingly rare to see from the boy.
“Fine.” Was all he said, doing everything in his power not to cringe.
“Wonderful. It’s a deal.” Topper smiled widely, turning on his heel, “Pleasure doing business with you, Maybank!” He called over his shoulder as he and the others strutted away.
・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚.
You must have first started hating JJ Maybank in the third grade, because that’s when all the firsts happened. First tests, first friendships, first crushes, first hatred’s.
He was in the fourth grade along with your older brother at the time, and you couldn’t stand him- not a single thing about him.
It was probably due to the fact that at the mere age of nine, he had been chasing after your brother in your yard when you had been innocently walking across it, probably to go fishing off the dock. He hadn’t seen you in the way and body slammed right into you when his head was turned, sending you tumbling to the ground with a face full of grass and dirt.
JJ had been frozen in place, horrified as you started crying, but before he could even open his mouth to try and apologize, you had started screaming at him. Telling him that he was a dumb boy who had too big of shoes if he was tripping into you while running.
Immediately, he turned furious, snapping back at you about how you should have been watching where you were going instead of being in ‘la la land’.
The two of you proceeded to launch into shouts of the best insults that your young minds could muster, and were mere seconds away from lunging at each other when Big John had wandered out at the commotion and physically had to hold each of you back.
But even with your restraints, it did nothing to stop the venomous looks you sent at one other. Glares that declared from that moment forward to be rivals. To hate each other with every bone in your body. Even now, at the ages of fifteen and sixteen, neither of you had stopped.
“Bambi,”
Speak of the devil.
You and a couple friends were hanging out at a kegger that your brother and his own friends started a couple of hours ago, nursing some red solo cups near a bonfire when you heard JJ Maybank call out to you with that stupid nickname he gave you a couple years back.
A scowl appeared on your face as your friends silenced around you and you turned around to glare at him, “What do you want, JJ?” The annoyance was clear as day in your tone.
He spread his arms out with a large grin, “What? I can’t stop by to say a friendly little ‘hi’ to you?”
“No.” You deadpanned with an eye roll, “So beat it, Maybank.”
“Relax, Bambi, relax,” The blond held his hands up in mock surrender, “I come in peace.”
“Since when?” You shot back, taking a long sip from your cup.
“Since now.” He smiled at you. He never smiled at you, “I just wanted to talk-“
“Not interested.” You cut him off and turned back towards your friends, “Come on, guys,” You muttered, “I need another drink.”
Your friends hurriedly trailed after you as you stormed away, always getting worked up whenever JJ was around.
The boy was left behind, watching your retreating figure.
This was going to be harder than he thought.

But mostly, I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close.
Chapter three is up, you can read it on AO3.
Steve tries to ask out Eddie but his usual flirting doesn’t seem to have any of the wanted effects. Eddie is proving to be more difficult to woo than anticipated, so Robin tries to come up with a plan. Chrissy (besides drooling over Robin) is desperately trying to make Eddie be nice to Steve.

I don’t know if someone has already written this but if not can someone please write a fanfic of Bradley Bradshaw & Jake Seresin but make it 10 Things I Hate About You.
Like just imagine, this taking place around the first time they go to top gun. But Jake Seresin is handsome, cocky and quite abrasive, especially to most of his fellow aviators. His main goal is to be the best navy aviator, so he keeps his distractions to a minimum meaning dating isn’t really a top priority for him. That was until Bradley Bradshaw came into his life and shakes everything up. Walls start to fall and things start to change between the two. Jake finds himself falling and hard. Everything is going great, until it isn’t. A few days before graduation, a secret is revealed that causes problems to arise. It seemed the whole thing was a bet.
Also please tag me if anyone writes something similar to this! 🫶

I Hate That I Don't Hate You (pt. 2 of 2)
Here's part 2 of "I Hate That I Don't Hate You" My "10 Things I Hate About You" AU. *Familiar Characters are NOT mine!*
Warnings: Modern/Movie-based AU, angst, fluff. Picks up exactly where part one left off.
Pairings/Characters: Jaime Lannister x fem!Stark reader
Tumblr media
Jaime turned to see you behind him, arms crossed in silent fuming. Though you said nothing, the tears welling up in your eyes were apparent. "Y/N, I-" You shook your head, cutting him off. "I can't believe I was so…so…STUPID! I can't believe I let you into my life. I was wrong. And so stupid. I let myself feel something for you." Jaime felt his heart lurch in his chest at that, but before he could say anything, you turned away from him. As you moved to leave, you glanced back over your shoulder. "My mistake." And then you were gone.
For weeks after that, whenever Jaime saw you, his heart hurt a little bit more. When you would catch him staring, you would either ignore him, flip him the bird, or leave as quickly as possible. If not for the fact that you both shared a class together, it would have been easy for the two of you to never see interact with one another again. Jaime wasn't sure he could have handled that. Especially since he tried every single way he could to apologize to you. You just didn't want anything to do with him.
As it happened, though, luck was on Jaime's side when your teacher assigned you as partners for an assignment. "Meet me in the library after school," was all you said in a clipped tone when Jaime turned to you. At then you were gone again. Jaime sighed heavily. At least you'd spoken to him.
That afternoon, Jaime entered the library and went looking for you. He made his way to the very back of the library since he knew you preferred studying away from everyone else. Like Jaime suspected,  he found your belongings first, tucked away at one of the back tables. You weren't there which meant you were probably looking for books for the project.
Jaime sat down and began fiddling with anything within reach. It was a habit his father had always despised when Jaime was younger so Jaime tried not to engage in the behavior, but he was nervous. It was his first time speaking to you since your "breakup". Could he even call it that? Had you been dating or was he making things bigger than they were?
As anxiety made Jaime's leg begin to bounce in his seat, Jaime's eyes landed on a sheet of paper sticking out of your book. He wasn't intending to snoop, really, but he knew you liked everything in its place neatly when it came to school. So he grabbed the book and opened it so he could neatly place your paper back in. He noticed spots on the paper that looked like they had been wet by something. Jaime let his eyes scan the written words on the paper and instantly discovered what the wet spots had been.
I hate the way you look at me. And how you wear your hair. I hate the way you smile at me and how you make me stare. I hate how you make me laugh. And how you act like you don't care. I hate myself for letting you in. Now I'm hurt beyond repair. But the worst of it is, I hate that I don't hate you. Not…
"Find something interesting?" your voice snapped Jaime away from his reading. You glared at him with tears in your eyes. "Y/N…" You shook your head and moved to grab your stuff. Jaime gently grabbed your arm. "Let me go," you whispered as the gathering tears began to fall down your cheeks. Jaime stood, "Talk to me, Y/N. I've apologized a hundred times and I don't know what else to do."
"There is nothing. I hate you, Jaime." Jaime's eyes glanced back down at the paper. "No you don't. You're hurt. I understand that, but you don't hate me any more than I hate you." You scoffed and tore your arm from his grip. You gathered your things as quickly as you could and turned to leave the library.
"I love you!" Jaime called, earning several shushes from other students. You froze. Jaime took the chance to move to stand in front of you again. "I love you," he said again when you looked up at him. "Don't. That isn't funny, Jaime."
"I'm not being funny, Y/N. Yes, I made a mistake. I let someone bribe me into asking you out when I should have just done it myself. I was stupid, I fully admit that. I never thought that I-I could fall for you. And once I did, I thought there was no way you'd ever feel the same, but dammit, I love you. I will shout it as loudly as you wish."
He opened his mouth again, probably to follow through. You quickly slapped your hand over his mouth. "Don't," you whispered. You moved your hand and Jaime sighed. "Please, Y/N. I messed up, but please, give me another chance?" You bit your lip, thinking for a moment before you nodded slowly. "One more chance, Jaime."
Jaime grinned widely and his hands came up to cup your cheeks. "You won't regret it." He leaned in to kiss you, only to be stopped by someone clearing their throat. You both glanced over to find the librarian's icy stare on you. Jaime's face instantly heated up. "We'll, uh, take this elsewhere," he mumbled, grabbing his belongings and then your hand to quickly exit the library with you. Once outside, the two of you burst into a fit of laughter.
(a/n: I hope you liked it! Obviously I changed the poem from the movie, but still think it got the point across.)
