As the maths problems take a break, maybe we can have a brief pub quiz. So...

Q. What's that building on the 10-yen coin?

A. The Phoenix Hall at Byôdô-in, Uji.

Initially built as a villa by a member of the Minamoto clan just before the year 1000, the land was sold not long after to members of a rival clan, the Fujiwaras, who turned it into a Buddhist temple named Byôdô-in in 1052. The most striking feature of the temple is the Amida Hall, which with time gained the name Phoenix Hall due to its overall appearance: the two outer corridors are the wings, and a corridor extending behind is the tail.

At the same time, tea production was picking up in Uji, and by the 14th century, Uji tea had become well renowned. I need to go back there someday, my first visit was just an afternoon flick after completing the climb of Mt Inari in the morning. I thought of going back there in the summer of 2023, but couldn't quite make time for it.

Update; I got back into working on charms today!

I had a busy last week or two and hadn’t really had a chance or the energy to start drawing this once since i finished Ayda, for reasons that frankly are a bit boring to go into detail about here, but I’m excited to get back into the swing of things now!

I’m really quite happy with his wings so far, i think i figured out a good method for drawing them >:3

Favorite color: it changes all the time because whenever I pick one, I start seeing it everywhere and get annoyed by it and switch to a different colour. Most common to be picked as my favourite is red, though

Last film I watched: Genuinely no idea, I hardly ever watch movies

Currently reading: Terry Pratchett's first Tiffany Aching book. It's been over a year. It's a genuinely good book, I just got interrupted by uni starting and the only thing I've read since then is fanfiction. I fully intend to finish the book and I can't believe it's taking me this long because usually I go through discworld books in, like, 3 days

Currently watching: Nothing, I rarely watch TV shows, but the last one I watched was The Good Place

Currently craving: Coffee. Caffeine barely does anything to me but I am craving the taste and I haven't had it since June because I don't know how to make ice coffee at home and it's too hot for anything else

Coffee or tea: Changes every other day, but in reference to what I've just said, currently I have to go with coffee

Hobby to try: I want to learn to cook if that counts? Because currently I am happy if I don't mess up pasta. Other than that, I wanna get back to playing the guitar more often since going to dorm always takes me away from it, but as the new semester is starting soonish and I am not taking my guitar with me, I don't see that happening.

Current AU: Not writing anything atm, but I would like an AU where I don't have to study organic chemistry for the exam

dude nightheart and sunbeams entire relationship is so funny. if I felt like digging through other books id make a compilation of these moments. No, Nightheart will not be by Sunbeams side to help her through the invasion of ShadowClan. Nightheart will almost get violently executed in RiverClan, and Sunbeam will only show up after the problem resolved itself (off screen). Sunbeam doesn't even feel like grieving with him around.

this entire arc, every major problem required them to ~sadly~ separate, and then reconvene for some generic niceties after its all over. I really thought, at bare minimum, the reason that kept happening was going to accumulate in them doing SOMETHING major together in the climax of this final book, like, 'something something our relationship can survive all the plot inconveniences that kept us apart bc this event proves why we're stronger as a team blablabla'

but no girl, their asses are NOT stronger together, they are not supporting each other through anything, they are not working together to accomplish a single goal. right to the end, every one of their greatest physical/emotional trials must be done separate

like. like it's incredible. the most go girl give us nothing relationship development of all time. i cant even find it in me to be mad. they are so lame it loops around into comedy. is this a prank why did they write it like this help
