Halloween is a week away and I’m up for trick or treating in my inbox again for fic requests!

However, with the event from earlier this month in mind and knowing how this went last time I am going to be changing up the rules.

I will not be taking original fic requests (there are some exceptions which I will get to later)

This past year I’ve learned the hard way that it’s pointless and thankless to try and write what I think other people will enjoy and appreciate. So I am going to make the focus more on my current wips.

Anyone who stops by my inbox on Halloween can choose which fic/series I’m currently working on will get my focus. Send a message with “trick or treat” and the fic of your choice and I will dedicate the next 500 words to you and will work on the fics on a first come first serve basis. Your choices are:

I’ll answer each ask with the 500 words I’ve written because of them! The only context you’ll have will be what’s included in those 500 words. No more, no less. Only one request per person and no anon asks.

I’ll make all of my fics will be available for everyone to read this week even if they don’t have an ao3 account so that it’s fair for everyone.

Now for the exceptions

I opened up requests on Halloween last year because I wanted to expand my writing horizons and write for pairings that don’t get as much attention. That…didn’t happen. So I’m offering the opportunity again this year.

I will except two (2) fic requests for ships that I have not written for yet (the side pairings listed above don’t count and are open to be requested). This will again be on a first come first serve basis. Just leave the fic request, characters/ship, POV, and Phoenix pronouns (if relevant). The rules for these requests will be the same as last year:

I will not write about other peoples ocs or interpretations (no Cyan, no Seraphina, no Rhodo, etc) even if you have permission from the creators or created them yourselves. I will write for my own ocs if that interests people (ie. Alex/Tiffany, Mason/Felix, etc.)

Can be nsfw. Dubious consent is okay but not full on rape/non con. (Despite what others may think I’m not actually comfortable writing it) Evil is the New Sexy is full of possible dub con examples

The Beatles will release “Now and Then” on November 2nd. The full press release can be found below. Together and apart, The Beatles have always had a talent for the unexpected. Firstly, I want to let everyone know that Daylight Savings begins tomorrow in the admin’s timezone, so, if you do not observe this, acceptances will be an hour earlier than you’re used to beginning tomorrow until November. Acceptances will be at 6PM EDT / 7AM KST.

Other than that, I’m back with another admin post before the one planned for our anniversary. I wanted to let everyone know the results of the recent poll regarding activity and schedules, as well as ask for member opinion on some more matters. This admin post does involve another poll, so I apologize in advance for anyone who isn’t fond of those, but you’re welcome not to answer if you would prefer not to!

Poll results

As a result of the majority opinion on the polls, activity checks will now be conducted requiring two posts since the last activity check for points. At least one must be a thread starter or reply, while the other can be a thread post or a solo or headcanon of 400+ words.

One qualifying post, or multiple solos/headcanons but no thread post, since the last activity check will result in a warning.

No qualifying posts since the last activity check will result in removal. 

This system will be implemented beginning with our next activity check on March 19.

Some smaller activity tweaks will come around our fourth anniversary, but for now I’d like to give everyone two weeks to adjust to this first!

Schedules will also now be done quarterly on a trial basis, beginning in April.

Note: I would like to remind everyone to please only vote once in these polls. I make them anonymous so no one feels discouraged from participating, but there was one particular instance that seemed suspicious to me as the same person submitting multiple votes. I didn’t delete the votes since it didn’t change the end result and there’s always a chance this was a coincidence, but I do take note of that kind of thing since I want to make sure member opinion is being reflected accurately!

Soloist positions

Currently, all of our canon soloist positions are open. Recently, there hasn’t been as much interest in soloist positions as group positions, and I understand these positions also often have less in their monthly schedules and are limited in some claims. I’ve also had some people suggest removing these positions and/or sharing that they don’t find the canon soloist positions particularly appealing in the context and limitations of the universe, so I wanted to check if canon soloist positions were something people were still interested in keeping, or if it would be more beneficial to do away with them.

I’m going to keep the positions from reserves being made while I have the poll running that will be linked at the end of this post to see if they should be kept.

If kept, things will proceed as normal.

If majority votes to remove them, the spots will be removed and their music will be opened for points claims. If this happens, muses with past claims related to canon soloist positions (features / music video roles) may choose to either drop the claim all together or switch it to a new claim. (I’d be open to discussing making an exception for some of the past claims rules like past features needing to be in the same company to accommodate this since it would be inconveniencing these muns). Muses with points claims related to canon soloist positions will have the choice to reclaim their points in full or keep the claim as a feature / mv appearance for an undefined song by an outside, NPC soloist with the same achievements and history if they had specific development linked to it. Certain storylines linked to canon soloist positions would be reworked if they’re an important narrative, ex. Dimensions buying out a company in Dimensions Soloist 3′s backstory, BC doing something to distract from the legal situation with the former Lipstick member in BC Soloist 1′s backstory.

Adding to Fuse’s model discography

Fuse is one of the few groups remaining in the roleplay with only one model group in their discography. Their company has stated Red Velvet is aiming for a comeback, but since they haven’t come back in over a year as a full group and don’t have a lot of group activities in recent times for a number of reasons, I’ve been looking into adding to their discography to ensure Fuse can have a comeback this summer. I haven’t found any groups that have really completely stuck out to me on my own, though there are a few possibilities in consideration, so I wanted to throw this out to members of the roleplay to ask who might want to see added / think might fit in the poll. As usual, this is completely optional and you only have to answer if you have any suggestions.

Recent bullying allegations 

I’ve gotten a few questions in the ask box about this, so I apologize for not answering them up to this point, but I was didn’t want to prematurely make any decisions while news was/is still coming out. I’m going to touch base with a few members individually soon, but a public address on any actions taken in response to these allegations will eventually be up.

For now, actor Kim Jisoo and April members Kim Chaewon, Lee Naeun, Yang Yena, Lee Jinsol, and and ex-member Jeon Somin are going to be treated as banned in the interim before I get full member input since they’ve been linked to allegations that raise triggers beyond bullying as well and members have, in similar situations in the past, voiced discomfort with faceclaims involved in those triggering topics. I am aware that parts of these allegations have been officially denied by their companies, but due to the aspects of these allegations being severe and denial being dependent on trusting the word of the company, I wouldn’t find it appropriate to leave those case entirely unaddressed at this time.

I will also ask that anyone interested hold off on applying with other face claims wrapped up in the recent bullying allegations until I’m able to make a complete statement after seeking member opinion. Anyone using a faceclaim who has been or gets wrapped up in such allegations is welcome to contact me to request a faceclaim change out of that faceclaim, even if their waiting period isn’t up yet, though I won’t be specifically asking anyone to change at this moment in time. Model groups are something that will be addressed either personally with muns affected or at a later time if necessary after seeking member opinion as well.

In the poll that will be linked below, I ask for member input on what they would be most most comfortable with regarding the requirements for banning / not banning a faceclaim with bullying allegations against them. I left this open for freeform reply instead of multiple choice since it seemed hard to encompass all guidelines that someone might see as suitable. Note that this is entirely optional, so if you don’t have an opinion or if you’re not comfortable discussing the topic, you don’t have to reply. If you need some time to think, you don’t need to answer right away. This will not be treated exactly as a poll with the most popular answer being the final decision, but instead, as a forum for members to provide their input all in one place so that I can be aware of where members stand. As admin, I’ll use this to help inform the final decision, though not strictly control it.

Riptide Day 0-1

So I wasn’t going to record my time in Ohio, just because I forgot to take pictures and we weren’t really mobile, but looking back, there were just too many memories to forget and I just really wanted to share with everyone how much fun this community is, despite the fact that we were canceled.

Most people will be referred to by their names, but I’ll introduce them with their tags first. If you see this and would like your name removed/changed, please let me know.

Thursday; September 9, 2021

Starting off the day, Kevin (The Doctor) and I had basically no sleep. We woke up at 7am PDT (read: 6:30am but too lazy to get out of bed) after getting to be around 4-5am mainly because Kevin wanted to hang out with his friends in Discord before he leaves them for the whole weekend. Me? I was just procrastinating on packing.

Joey (Big Large) texts in our group chat that we never got rid of from Emerald City that they’ll be at my place in 10 minutes with Ivan (Ivayne), because they were driving up north from Elk Grove, which is about 20 minutes south of where we live.

The plan was to drive to Robert (PotatoesAreYum)’s place and then make the two hour drive to San Jose, where we would catch our 1:45pm flight.

Why did we do this? Because our tickets were canceled for Blacklisted 6 and we couldn’t get refunds so we only had credits to work from, but apparently, Sacramento Airport did not have available flights to Ohio that were by Alaskan Airlines.

We took off, leaving Sacramento and heading to Davis. Part way through, we get a text from Robert asking how far out we were, because he had to poop, but we were 11 minutes out.

Robert, the descriptive man he is, describes that his poop was ready to crown, so he was good. I thanked him for the visual, because goddamn, I needed another one after getting a Snapchat from Joey the night before of his ass hanging out in jorts.

Robert: At least I didn’t sent a picture like Joey. But if you want a picture, I could send you one. Me: I would cancel your flight.

We end up driving south to Kevin’s brother’s house, where we tried to find a Jack in the Box that was on Google Maps. We spent about five minutes looking for it before ultimately giving up and going to a Hawaiian BBQ/Donut shop. We were just as confounded as you are probably right now. Food was OK.

Kevin’s brother insisted the Jack in the Box was there but for the life of us, we could not find it. He took us to the airport and off we went to Chicago. Yes, they played Smash at the airport, because this is what Smash players do. 

They also played on the flight. Sidenote: there was this very loud cat in the aisle across from me that was meowing like crazy.

Flight from Chicago to Cleveland sucked. It was hot and cramped and they took our baggage away.

We land in Cleveland at about 11pm? Parker (Boringman [Sip Mastah]) was waiting for us at our gate because he had landed an hour before us.

We go down to Ground Transportation to reach our shuttle when I read the little red tag one of the flight attendants gave me. It said that our baggage would be given to us at the end of the flight.

... Well, we had just passed through security and going down the escalator at that point.

Well, fuck.

We run into Washington at baggage claim and I’m panicking because I have no idea if our luggage is going to pop out at baggage claim. Joey, Kevin, and I go up the escalator - the WRONG escalator and we go up a flight too much. We go back down and the airport’s just empty.

Makes sense, it’s 11pm EDT and there’s not a single worker in sight.

Robert texts us saying our luggage popped out and I hate life because the wording on the ticket, I swear, implied it wasn’t going to come out of baggage claim.

We go back down, grab our luggage, say bye to Washington, and head on our to the shuttle wait area.

There, we run into Luke (Yung Quaff) and Will (Twisty) from Massachusetts. Apparently, they had been waiting for the shuttle for over an hour and it was about 11:30pm at this point in time and we’re so tired because we’ve been travelling the whole day and there were people waiting for us to goon with.

We get to the shuttle and it’s an hour to the resort. Crying inside.

We check in and our room is on the other side of the resort from Guttey and Spencer (Mr. Watch and Learn)’s room even though they provided our confirmation number when they got their hotel room. What the hell.

Seeing everyone in that room was so amazing. I can’t remember everyone there exactly, because let me tell you, that room at one point probably had more people than it should have and we most definitely violated some kind of fire hazard.

Friday; September 10, 2021

Twisty ended up staying the night in our room because we had a two bedroom, two bathroom suite with six people. Our suite had a king bed, two queen beds, and a queen pull-out from the couch. Joey and Robert - the two largest people - stayed in the king bed. Kevin and I shared a queen. Ivan had a queen. Parker had a queen. Though I believe the first night, Parker and Ivan shared the queen (?) and Twisty stayed on the pull out.

Twisty barrel-rolled the whole night.

The bed squeaked so much it was insane. I think it only really bothered me, but that was fine because the guys needed their rest more than I did.

Spencer, the god that he is, ended up driving from Long Island to Ohio, and he offered to take us to go get some groceries for his room and us at Meijer.

It seated five, but I don’t really count as a full human size-wise, so I sat at Kevin’s feet, who was sitting in the passenger seat, underneath the dashboard, while Guttey, John (Gluteus), and Luke sat in the back.

Shoutouts to Meijer. Had a ton of awesome stuff.

A bunch of wings and thighs that probably weighed as much as a chicken itself plus 2 Liter Coke for $8.

It was all a blur, but we ended up in the Chad Room at some point - the Presidential Suite, just as crews were starting.

We end up meeting Yuko, who had a very large speaker about the size of me curled up. He ended up making an entrance and there’s a video on Twitter where you can just hear Joe (Qtip) go, “I’m scared.”

Also ran into Zoey (Frost) again. :) Haven’t seen her since she left NorCal. We ended up just talking a bit, catching up, before I think Kevin needed me to go back to our room for a Wii.

I ended up walking entirely back to our room on the other side of the hotel - next to the convention center, getting out Wii, only to find out two things:

1. We didn’t have composite cables. 2. There was no other outlet.

We ended up getting kicked out after Qtip’s team won anyway.

Can’t remember anything else, other than the goon was too hard and too real but if you would like for me to include anything that happened while I was there, let me know! :)

Updates (5/6/2021)

Hey, everyone! Sorry I didn’t upload yesterday. This past weekend I got sick so it was a little hard to get the energy to want to work on requests, which was why I initially took the two days off to relax. Mix that with having to work 6/7am shifts these past couple days, one of which I was asked to work on my day off...So, It’s been a little rough. I work in a Deli so I’m always on my feet; which to anyone who knows the feeling, it’s exhausting as hell. Yesterday was my longest shift, 7am-4pm, and I was just exhausted by the time 4pm came. Ya’ll I came home and passed out. So, I apologize for all the delays, but I am currently working on them now.

Updated Schedule

I know you guys are always super lovely about this and never mind when I go off schedule, so I’ve updated this mostly for myself (so I don’t stress about it so much 😅). If you’ve ever wondered why I refer to my posts as coming out “tonight” when they appear for you in the daytime, this is why - I try to post my story when most people around the world are awake, which ends up being when me and my fellow Australians (and Malaysian/New Zealand frens!) are asleep. 😊

The main changes here: my four story posts will post every 2 hours rather than every 3 hours, and sometimes the days will be variable (I don’t have a backlog of posts, so I’m creating them as I go). Here’s the new times for my story posts (working backwards from my own timezone):

BASEL ONLINE 2020 __________ Gagosian is pleased to announce its most significant online sales presentation yet. Important works by modern and contemporary masters will be unveiled in mid-June through two separate online platforms—Gagosian Online and Art Basel Online. These individually curated selections will offer collectors direct access to artworks of the highest caliber. To experience the presentation in its entirety, viewers will need to visit both gagosian.com and artbasel.com. The works on gagosian.com will rotate every forty-eight hours, for a total of five cycles. The presentations include a remarkable painting by Roy Lichtenstein that combines abstraction and still life, two genres that he reimagined through the prism of Pop art. From the studio of Georg Baselitz comes a key work that has remained in the artist’s possession since he made it in 1980. A robust example of his Strandbilder (Beach Pictures), the painting reflects the primitivist impulses of his large-scale sculptures, the first of which were exhibited at the Venice Biennale the same year. An epic Last Supper painting by Andy Warhol from 1986 is among only six entries from his final body of work, in which the artist painted over silkscreened images. A sublime “soak-stain” painting by Helen Frankenthaler exemplifies her 1960s shift from gestural, linear painting to “composing with color.” Untitled (Smalls Capri 52.71) (2020) is a dynamic new large-scale painting by Mark Grotjahn. The fragmented look of the Black woman in Nathaniel Mary Quinn’s painting Essential Worker (2020), made especially for this occasion, reflects the repressive double bind into which she has been forced. In Sichelschnitt (Sickle Cut) (2019), a characteristically layered and emotionally powerful landscape, Anselm Kiefer reflects on the historical cycle of destruction and rebirth by revisiting a pivotal moment in the Second World War, affixing wheat to the canvas in symbolic reference to the elemental nature of rural life, and a rusty sickle as an allusion to Greek mythology. Mark Tansey has also produced a new painting especially for this occasion. Recent works by John Currin, Urs Fischer, Theaster Gates, Katharina Grosse, Damien Hirst, Neil Jenney, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Albert Oehlen, Giuseppe Penone, Sterling Ruby, Ed Ruscha, Richard Serra, Sarah Sze, Jeff Wall, Mary Weatherford, and others will also be unveiled. Ascent Abort 2 completes Orion test program. (July 2, 2019)

Reminiscent of the early 1960s tests for the Mercury and Apollo programs, NASA performed a three-minute flight test of the Orion Launch Escape System early Tuesday morning, July 2. The Ascent Abort 2 mission lifted off from LC-46 at 7am EDT utilizing a converted Peacekeeper missile, dubbed the Abort Test Motor.

Fifty-one seconds after liftoff at around 31,000 feet in altitude, the Launch Escape System pulled the boilerplate Orion capsule away from the vehicle with over 400,000 pounds of force. Small control motors atop the system reoriented the capsule towards the Earth, and 17 seconds later the capsule was jettisoned. Orion reached a maximum altitude of just under 44,000 feet before plummeting towards the Atlantic Ocean. Maximum speed was around 1,000 miles per hour.

Previous tests of the capsule’s recovery systems gave engineers the option exclude parachutes on AA-2. The boilerplate capsule and booster were designed to break apart and sink in the Atlantic ocean once the test was complete. NASA estimates the components impacted the ocean at around 350 miles per hour roughly ten miles offshore.

During the capsule’s descent, twelve Electronic Data Recorders were ejected containing test data gathered by over 890 sensors. These were designed to float and be recovered via boat following the test.

The Abort Test Motor, launch vehicle for AA-2, utilized a converted SR-118 solid rocket motor originally designed for the Peacekeeper Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. An aerodynamic shell was placed around the motor to integrate it with the Orion capsule, which was over twice its width. 

Due to the sheer power of the Peacekeeper first stage, 110,000 pounds of steel ballast were added in order to slow the vehicle’s ascent. This ensured that the proper test conditions could be met at the correct portion of the flight profile. According to the AA-2 test conductor Jenny Devolites the test performed “flawlessly,” and Orion program manager Mark Kirasich stated that “everything we’ve seen so far looks great.”

Similar tests were performed by NASA during the early 1960s as part of the Mercury and Apollo programs, which also utilized pull-type abort systems. Eight flights of the Little Joe I booster tested Mercury’s escape system between 1959 and 1960, while five flights of the larger Little Joe II tested Apollo’s escape system between 1963 and 1966. However, unlike AA-2, those flights occurred from Wallops Island, Virginia and the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, not Cape Canaveral. Additionally, the Little Joe launch vehicles were designed in-house, while AA-2 utilizes a former ICBM motor modified for the mission.

Orion’s LES features upgraded technology and the addition of attitude control motors, expanding the capabilities of the abort system from that of the Apollo era.

Tuesday’s flight was the final significant test of an Orion spacecraft system prior to its first flight on the SLS rocket. That mission, dubbed Artemis-1, is slated to occur in mid-2020 without any crew. Artemis-2 will be the first integrated flight with crew aboard.
