Sterek fic recs: Fake Dating AU Edition

Because @oldefashioned requested a fake dating rec list, here it is. These are all very funny, as fake dating fics ought to be, so I hope you get a good laugh out of it.

1. Not Your Disney Romance by Wrennefer (Wrenegadeone)

After a long-forgotten agreement of an arranged marriage between Derek and the daughter of another pack's alpha resurfaces, Stiles takes it upon himself to become the most amazing fake fiancé that a clueless, desperate alpha werewolf could wish for.

Notes: Domestic pack, my beloved. Stiles and Derek are precious here, I LOVE THEM!! The visiting pack, not so much, but who cares about them?? It's all pretty lighthearted, all things considered. It's completed.

2. Electricity In the Contact by ladyblahblah

In which Derek has been invited to the Greater Pacific Northwest Alpha Symposium (that's not what it's called, Stiles, stop saying that), and showing up unattached would mean an arranged marriage. When the rest of the pack objects, he agrees to let Stiles come along to pose as his mate. Derek is reasonably sure that he's not going to make it out of this weekend alive.

Notes: Werewolf convention fics are so good! I actually haven't found all that many, considering how common a trope it is, and it's a tragedy because they're always so well done! This one is no exception, and the mini-world building is also great! It's completed.

3. can’t be hateful, gotta be grateful by HalfFizzbin

"Be cool, Dad, we've decided to con Grandma." (Or, the one where the Stilinski men drag Derek to Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma's and she gets the right wrong idea.)

Notes: this one is just *cheff´s kiss* wonderful! It's all pretty domestic and the humor is on point. College student Stiles and the Sheriff are strong armed into spending Thanksgiving with Stiles' grandma, and they find nothing better than to bring Derek with them. Pining and misunderstandings ensue and thus comes the fake dating. It's completed.

4. Gravity’s Got Nothing on You by zosofi

“Three weeks,” Derek says. “Still don’t want to,” Stiles says. “I’ll pay you,” Derek says, and that… that has Stiles interested. Alf’s Antique’s may be a great job, but it’s not a high-paying job, and half of Stiles’s tuition is coming from financial aid, so… “How much,” Stiles asks, “are we talking here? Because I know your family, dude. And it’ll be kind of awkward after.“ “My family thinks you’re some sort of fucking gift to the world,” Derek seethes, like he’s jealous, “they’ll probably be pissed at me when we break it off, so don’t worry about that. Five hundred bucks.” “A thousand,” Stiles says, because screw ethics. Also, the Hale family is loaded. Derek can deal.

Notes: this had such a chokehold on me when I first read it. Absolutely wonderful. Enemies to lovers?? Maybe. Assholes to assholes-in-love, is a better descriptor. There's werewolves, and magic, and it's awesome! It's completed.

5. He’s Not Mine by Sonnee

Derek comes home to find an abandoned werebaby on his front porch and Stiles volunteers to help him out. Surprisingly, that is just the beginning of his problems.

Notes: again, it's all very domestic, like most fake dating fics ought to be. It's a kid fic, Sterek are mates, we have all the love. Not much else I can think to add... it's completed.

6. Real life isn’t a movie (life doesn’t make narrative sense) by dearericbittle (dutchmoxie)

Somehow accidentally insulting a hot guy in a coffee shop leads to pretending to be his boyfriend in front of a house full of werewolves. Stiles Stilinski is living his best life and making the most of his Hallmark movie moment.

Notes: this one had me cracking up because it's so funny! Stiles is living his best life, for real. Derek... suffers. But it's okay, because he gets a boyfriend out of this whole thing! They are disgustingly sweet in that assholish way they have. It's completed.

7. You look like my next mistake by Vendelin

“So, are you dating someone new? Someone who doesn’t mind that you’re frigid?” Kate cocks her head to the side, smiling as though she just asked him about where he bought his shoes. His entire body sighs in defeat as his shoulders grow square. Just as he opens his mouth, someone comes up to stand beside him, snaking an arm around his shoulders. When he glances to his side, expecting to see Isaac, his brain seems to malfunction. Because it isn’t Isaac. It’s Stiles Stilinski, the lacrosse talent of the year, a senior who Derek has seen multiple times from far away, but never ever talked to. In which Derek is a nerd jock, and Stiles is a frat guy, and Derek falls for him even though he knows he shouldn't.

Notes: this one had me HOWLING it's so good!! Frat boy Stiles, my beloved. It's technically not fake dating because it turns into an actual relationship pretty quickly, but it starts as fake dating so I'll take it. Stiles is an absolute sweetheart in this one, I love him! And Derek is shy, and insecure, but he's so great, and everyone gets a happy ending except Kate, which is always a good thing. It's completed.

8. All’s Fair In Orgasms and War by bleepobleep

AVN BREAKING NEWS-- DIAMOND VISTA RIDGE BREAKS HIS CONTRACT WITH HALE HOUSE "We haven't seen much of our favorite rock hard stud from Hale House ever since that indie twink dethroned him as champion in Orgasm Wars, but it's just been confirmed that Diamond will no longer be working for the legendary studio famous for producing some of our favorite werewolf-on-human works. Don't fret, Diamond fans, it looks like he's been spotted cozying up to True Alpha Studios! Apparently he couldn't get enough of that one human and then followed him home. Could it be true love? Keep your eye on this studio-- us at AVN think we're about to get a lot more of Diamond in a very new way!" ~ The one in which (almost) everyone is a porn star, and Derek just wants to curl up with his fluffy blanket and watch the Hallmark channel, but work and falling in love gets in the way.

Notes: okay but is this fake dating? Maaaaaybe. It's kinda complicated. Basically everyone here is a porn star and the pack has this studio where they cater to werewolves and have a whole thing about established relationships, which is where the fake dating comes up. It's surprisingly very fluffy, considering this is a porn au, and Derek is the softest goober in this one. Stiles is completely enamoured. It's completed.

9. Wanted from the You Are series by Asterekmess (Livinginfiction)

With the Hale pack finally settled and safe, it only makes sense that something would happen to screw it all up. To top it all off, Stiles has to pretend to be Derek's mate, or face a pack of angry Alphas. He's doomed.

Notes: Alright so this series is wonderful. The world building done for the Alpha pack is also great, and that's the center of the second part (which has the fake dating). I do recommend reading the first part before jumping on to Wanted because it is a direct continuation. Also, it's an amazing au! It's completed.

10. For Love is Not Ours to Command by weathervaanes

Where Derek's skills at thinking on his feet mean that he and Stiles have to act. For the sake of Stiles' dad, of course, for the sake of the pack. No personal interest interference at all, whatsoever. Right. -0- “Why does my dad say that you and your boyfriend are a bad influence on me?” “What?” “Yeah, what boyfriend? Dude, you are not allowed to not tell me crap like this. You didn't think I'd like be a douchebag or something. Right?” “No, wait, what? I have no boyfriend.” “He says you were with him at the police station.” Stiles blinks. “Uhm. Oh shit.”

Notes: Stiles just wanted to find dirt on Raphael McCall to blackmail him. Somehow, he got himself a whole ass boyfriend. It's complicated. That's it, that's the fic. It's completed.

11. Stiles Stilinski, Boyfriend Extraordinaire by MareLoup

“Beacon County Sheriff's Department, this is deputy Mahealani speaking.” “Oh thank god!” “Stiles?” “I, uh, I need some advice.” “Advice?” “Yeah. So, hypothetically, say you met your boyfriend’s mother and sister for the first time ever. Completely by accident. In the grocery store. And they convinced you to help them make a dinner to surprise aforementioned boyfriend when he got home after work. What would you do?” Danny paused, and then, “Stiles, you don’t have a boyfriend.” “That’s not the point! And I said hypothetically.” “Stiles...what are you doing right now?” *** Stiles never imagined he’d be in Derek’s kitchen cooking a surprise dinner with Derek’s family while they waited for Derek to get home from work. Partly because their visit was a complete surprise. But mostly because Stiles didn’t have a boyfriend. Or even know who Derek was. But he’d already come this far and Papa didn’t raise no quitter!

Notes: this is to date one of my favorite Sterek fics. I laughed so much while reading this, I'm not even joking. The whole thing is a comedy of errors gone right. Stiles somehow finds himself pretending to be Derek's boyfriend, only he has no idea who Derek even is and why his family knows Stiles at all. His inner monologue is one of the funniest I've read, and his slow descent into (good natured) madness is wonderful. It's completed.

12. Love Like An Ache In The Jaw by Anonymous

“So let me get this straight,” The sheriff massages his temples, “You found a magic book, and performed a magic spell that has backfired and magically bound you to Derek Hale, rendering you both in agony if you’re not in the same room.” Derek and Stiles exchange a look. “Um. Yes.” Stiles says sheepishly. “Right. And just to be clear, when we’re talking agony… exactly how agonizing is the agony?” Derek clears his throat. “Sir, I’ve had a pole stabbed through my chest and held there for an hour. This was… similar.” - In which boredom, magic and dumbassery come together to produce a Christmas miracle slash disaster. Oh, and Stiles' grandmother who knows absolutely nothing about the supernatural happens to be in town. Oops.

Notes: another hilarious one. Stiles does Stiles things and ends up magically bound to Derek. No one is amused except Stiles' grandmother, who's having the time of her life, here. It's completed!

1. Time Travel AU

first au i've ever thought about, cool hue sisters centered, because i love them sm and i was still finding my footing in encanto and the fandom when i thought of this au, and yeah

its where isabela and luisa get sent back to the past after going after and protecting mirabel as casita falls

i gained the idea after seeing how the two older sisters were still so terrified of alma and disappointing her that they couldn't stand up for mirabel and for themselves, but as casita was falling, they weren't about to let their baby sister go, not after everything

despite this being the first au, its also still really vague and barebones in a sense, not much planned yet and its all just vibes, plus i just really wanted a cool sisters au because i love them sm

2. Big Hero 6 AU

ah yes, big hero 6 au, my beloved

came to be when i figured out bear aka @gamerbearmira's reference in one of her encanto one shots, the scooby doo one where they got arrested, and she used bh6's aunt cass' rant for alma's rant in said one shot, and then it led me to realize the potential of encanto big hero 6 au with bear, so that was fun

honestly been a bit since i touched the au personally, as i keep getting distracted by the other ones below

3. [Redacted] AU

ah yes, this au, the 120 and counting pages one in my docs

and the 120 pages are mostly just details and planning for the au, not a single written thing yet

this au is not called redacted au, but the name itself is redacted because the word itself is a bit of a spoiler and im still trying to find a better name for it in general

i have no idea how to explain this au

first thing to mention is how its very much inspired by Take Back the Kingdom by @optimistic-violinist and @impossiblefangirl0632 (sorry for the tag, i can take it out if you'd like) and i really really recommend this fic, its so so good and it changed my brain chemistry on so many levels

so yes, i really got inspired by this fic, and it will very much be shown in this particular au with some things and tropes, but ofc im doing my own spin on stuff and the details, and from what i have rn, i think it really evolved and is still evolving as time goes on

another thing to note about this is how the idea came to be because of TBTK inspiration and a dream i had on the day i was taking a metaphysics midterms exam (this is completely unnecessary to mention but oh well, i still remember that moment so vividly)

the dream impacted just exactly how this au is going to go

what is the dream about? you'll find out whenever i get to write this au

all i can say without spoiling much is that there are lots of memory shenanigans and angst, plus the very fun trope of "your found family is your actual family"

also once more, read take back the kingdom, very good fic, 11/10, much recommend, will reread again

4. Ghost Cocoon AU

this au is the fusion of the Cocoon au and the Ghost Grandkids au, both still found in @/gamerbearmira's blog

ghost grandkids au is from @jerseyk112 and cocoon au is from @raefever, and ofc bear has a lot of ideas and thoughts for these aus in her blog

i was rereading bear's cocooned fic for the 17123723507 time and while i was at it, i remembered the ghost grandchildren au, so i decided it would be pretty fun to fuse the two aus together in some way

and so i did (first ask, second ask)

basic premise of this au is really just the ghost kids' healing and them protecting their younger selves and their family

this fusion au interested me so much that it got to the point where i actually wrote a 3683 word first chapter of sorts(?) for this fusion au already (bear has seen it but i havent posted it at all)

planning on continuing it when i feel like it tho hehe

so yes its been wild with this one

5. Giftless Grandkids AU

just as the name says, au where all the grandkids are giftless

all i can say is everything and nothing changes all at the same time with this

this au was sent and suggested by an anon in bear's blog

this is also the one where bear and i went wild on for the past few days

pretty sure bear is gonna be writing this au, if im not mistaken? so its very exciting

there's a lot in store for this au and it'll be fun

6. Undertale AU

not the type where the characters are these characters tho

this idea is where we'll be throwing the grandkids into the underground for an adventure of a lifetime!

so basically characters of one media meet characters of the other media type

and the kids are gonna be going through the plot of undertale, technically in frisk's shoes here

this au is still very vibes and not much planned, there's lots of potential to play around tho, so im thinking of exploring this at some point soon

7. Gravity Falls AU

gravity falls au this time!!

now this au is the one pure vibes one, absolutely zero planning or thoughts, just vibes and aspirations for it

not even sure if it'll be like the undertale au where characters of one media will meet characters of the other media or if it'll be characters from this media are gonna be these characters of that media in this au

i just thought it would be fun to have an encanto gravity falls au idea, but still dont know where it'll be going in general

DALLAS LIU SEES YOUR TIKTOK THIRST-TRAP EDITS OF HIM

Dallas Liu may be playing the Zuko in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but you won’t catch him with the Fire Nation prince’s restrictive, gravity-defying ponytail in real life. 

“I would never, ever out of my own personal choice rock the ponytail. It’s a haircut that not even cosplayers are willing to take on,” he tells NYLON. “I can gladly say that I would not recommend it to anyone.” But the 22-year-old actor does admit to what fans of the original animated series have known since the show debuted back in 2015: “The ponytail does look super badass on screen.”

Liu says he knew the challenge of bringing such a beloved character to life, but not only did he grow up watching the animated series and loving the Fire Nation prince for his fierce loyalty, but the show inspired him to start practicing martial arts. Ahead, Liu takes on the NYLON 19, revealing his thoughts on ghosts (or “spirits,” as he prefers to call them), TikTok thirst-trap edits of himself, and more.

Gods do not require witnesses. So in the sanctity of the Holy Church of Anor Londo, Gwyndolin weds a mortal woman, a marriage that takes place with onlookers of sightless statues and eyeless stained glass figures. Yorshka is the only real guest to attend, acting as an officiant for this ceremony and beaming brightly at her brother as he meets her eye. The Dark Sun smiles from beneath his crown, his joy matched only by the elation of his Beloved. 

Wedding bells ring from the spires of the cathedral, the celebratory sound foreign to the ears of the residents of the valley. Despite such an unfamiliar chime, all who listen feel the weight of impending change. Legends will be told for ages to come, tales of the union of a mortal and a god. Some are whispered in disapproval, scathing recounts of a manipulative human worming its way into the heart of a deity. However, these rumors are often dismissed, replaced by hushed accounts that weave a bittersweet epic, one filled with hope and with everlasting love. It is one of the few precious, benevolent legends of the world. 

Veiled by cloth woven of moonlight, Gwyndolin guides his Beloved Star to the altar. Her robes are redolent of the night that enshrouds the earth, glimmering diamonds and sweeping swathes of indigo pooling around her feet as she glides up the aisle. Iridescent moonstone enamels her hand and with the promise of fealty, of love for eternity, the Dark Sun is wed. And a mortal has been anointed his wife. 

The consummation of the marriage between the Dark Sun and his Beloved Star binds not only body, but soul, as well. And in a world that hinges upon souls of all forms, the gravity of this union will be felt for ages to come. The Dark Soul of a human merging with the Light Soul of a god, while done in absolute privacy, will be felt in the fibers that weave this world together. Vibrations in a tenuous thread.  

In the sepulcher of Gwyndolin’s chambers, he strips away his robes of moonlight, casting them to the ground, making himself vulnerable for the first time in front of another. His Beloved Star sheds her cloak of night and reveals unto the Dark Sun every time-faded scar, every stretch mark, every beautifully human piece of herself. She is first to reach a timid hand out to ghost along Gwyndolin’s clavicle, her fingertips brushing along the bony protrusions of his ribs, and dancing gracefully down the knots of his vertebrae. She is gentle with Gwyndolin’s delicate frame, her kisses featherlight as she litters them along his jawline, down the slope of his neck, and across his chest. Her words are praising, uplifting, before she drags her tongue along the porcelain shell of his ear, complimenting the Dark Sun’s grace, his gentility. 

“Lovely Gwyndolin,” she whispers, a psalm hushed in secrecy to an adoring deity, “My most precious, Gwyndolin.”

He coos her name, an incantation imbued with ultimate devotion, with perennial love. In the dusky haze of this room, Gwyndolin and his Beloved are safe. Concealed from a harsh, unforgiving world. Moonlight guards them, silver and inviolable. 

When the Dark Sun rests his hands upon the skin of his Beloved, he feels the ridges of her hip bone beneath his elegant fingers, the knotted wires of tendon, the plushness of fat atop sinewy muscle. He finds himself lost in her humanity, drinking in her body, her soul like he’s parched. His touch meanders along her form, taking his time in memorizing every curve, every dip, every plush inch of her. Gwyndolin must know his Beloved in her entirety, and she, him. Each motion of theirs is meant to venerate the other, to worship and revere. The sheets beneath are hallowed in the union of dark and light. In the moon and the stars. 

Proof of Gwyndolin’s arousal grazes his Beloved’s inner thigh. She smiles coyly at him, pink feathering across her cheeks. 

“May I?” she questions, her eyes sparkling impishly in the sliver of moonlight cast across their shared bed. 

“Please,” Gwyndolin whimpers, desperation pooling between his legs. He ensnares her lips with his, moaning softly into his Beloved as her hands dip between his thighs. It is a sensation unlike anything the Dark Sun has ever felt before. She is attentive, languorous, each motion purposeful and sweet. He cannot help but sigh into her like a willow bending with the wind. She swipes her thumb over his tip, wetting him with the glistening bead of cum that sits atop it, dewey and warm. Her rhythmic pumps are slow and unhurried, sending voltaic shivers through Gwyndolin’s body. He feels lightning constricting his lungs as he rocks his hips in time with his Beloved’s motions.  

“My Star,” he manages through labored breaths as her mouth leaves its bittersweet marks: merlot lovebites painting his skin, skin stretched taut like canvas over bone, “I am yours, and yours alone.” 

She releases her grip, trailing kisses down his chest, her lips velvety and warm in the chill of the evening air. She tickles the tender flesh of his adonis belt with her fingernails, grazes his inner thighs with her teeth, before settling in between them. It’s all Gwyndolin can do not to buck his hips into her in his excitement, his hand flying to his mouth to cover his startled gasp. Graciously, she holds his legs to keep him in place, giggling at his eagerness. The movement of her tongue is euphoric: how it flattens against him, swirls around his tip, laps up his arousal, and drags up the underside of his cock. His mind is reeling with pleasure, his fingers tangled in her hair. Every nerve ending in Gwyndolin’s body feels as if they’re firing in deliciously overwhelming waves. 

“My Darling,” he huffs, his whole body flushed and rosy, “I beg thee. Let me please you.”  

He draws her up, his lips crashing into hers, kisses so terribly desperate and messy. She tastes of him and in some way it feels both deliciously sinful and potently sacred. She has sanctified him in her own way. Now, it is the Dark Sun’s turn to consecrate her. He lays kiss after kiss over her soft skin, attentive to each of the sensitive buds of her nipples, mouth closing gently around one and then the other. He revels in her needy moans, her stifled gasps as he reaches her heat. His tongue searches, circling when he finds a spot that makes his Beloved moan his name so exquisitely, Gwyndolin is convinced he could come right then and there. Her  mewls are salacious as his tongue teasingly darts in and out of her entrance. Lips wet with her arousal, Gwyndolin laps her up like he’s famished, his nose eagerly bumping against her with each rut of her hips. 

Gwyndolin truly does feel as if he has been starved of affection the whole of his life. Of praise. His Beloved’s celebration of the way he makes her feel is utterly enriching. The way their bodies move together is a gift. How is it that this human woman fits so perfectly against him? And he against her? 

The Dark Sun and his Beloved Star breathe as one. Their hearts beat as one. His lips find hers again, while his hand slips down to her heat, fingers slick with her arousal. With permission, Gwyndolin buries two within her, pumping slow and rhythmic. The tiny, aching whines that fall from her mouth only serve to fuel the Dark Sun’s passion. And he cannot help the soft, yearning moans that escape his throat. Wordlessly, she stays his hand and adjusts herself, ready to take him in. Slowly, Gwyndolin sheathes himself inside her, exhaling as he feels her tighten around him. She’s warm, so very warm, and feels so utterly perfect around him. When she’s had a moment to adjust, the Dark Sun and his Beloved star grind their hips in tandem. 

“My heart is yours, Dear Gwyndolin,” she breathes, the heat of her mortal flesh utterly intoxicating. He is coiled around her body, holding her close as he presses deep inside her, his tip pushing against the soft pad of her cervix. She dissolves under his touch, turns to ash in the cyclic passage of time. She is the last ember of a fading hearth, born in the womb of a dying star. She is a human wreathed in darkness, darkness warmed by ancient starlight. 

“My Dearest Gwyndolin,” she speaks through constricted vocal cords, her grasp desperate on his thighs as she grinds her hips into him, “I grow close. Please, I-”

Her words are lost when Gwyndolin captures her lips with his, fervent kiss after fervent kiss no doubt leaving behind their wine-colored marks. He can feel her walls pulsing around him, and he is not much further behind. Gwyndolin’s free hand reaches to her breast, massages and kneads. Her fingers tangle in his snowy hair, tugging gently to angle his head so she might have better access to the tender flesh of his neck. She suckles gently beneath his ear, delighting in the strained keens that fall from her dearest Gwyndolin’s pink lips. 

The world falls away to nothing as the Dark Sun and his Beloved Star bring one another to ecstasy. In an almost febrile haze, Gwyndolin feels the coil in her release. And as she brings him to completion, Gwyndolin feels himself unfold. Like she’s cracked open his ribs, carving out the hollow bone and scooping out the rot that has buried itself in the cavity of his chest. She nestles within him, blooming in the fibrous organs beneath his sternum. Together, they are a tangle of limbs, scales, moonlight, and constellations. Threads of shadow and lunar halos, flares of sunlight and tendrils of darkness. Should flame extinguish, it would not matter, Gwyndolin thinks. He and his Beloved can ignite flame of their own, kindling for a fire that knows nothing of the festering world around them.

In the silence and the bliss that follows, the Dark Sun presses his hand to his Beloved’s abdomen, and she to his. Gwyndolin wonders aloud to her if they should conceive children. If they should birth beings from the union of shadow and light. To carry out a primordial lineage. To let the world not fall to ruin. Surely, this would be their fate. Surely, some being somewhere would smile upon this union. Upon conception of a creature that houses both a Soul of Light and a Soul of Dark. 

Gwyndolin’s eyes fall shut in the murky twilight, comforted by his Beloved humming a tune long forgotten by the ears of man. She rubs gentle circles into his back and holds him close. His dreams at first are pleasant: images of a future with her. Little feet pitter-pattering through the grand halls of Anor Londo. The soft caress of his Beloved. Life lived at one another’s side, basking in the warmth of the sun. Love ingrained in every surface, every action, every word, eternal and unwavering.

And then the Dark Sun’s dreams turn to ruin. In them, foul beasts lurk in his dungeons. Massive shadows writhe in the dark, burbling forth from tombs disturbed, fetid and bloated, stinking of rot. He dreams most vividly of being consumed. Whittled away to nothing but bone and ruined flesh. A bolus of sinew and chewed gristle or a bezoar housed in the stomach of a grotesque creature bloated by unfathomable sin. And what of his Beloved? Hollowed, withered. Or perhaps consumed, herself. Gwyndolin, too weak to protect her. And she, too human to change the course of fate. 

He wakes with a start, gasping shallow breaths as if having been drowned in the depths of a deep, dark sea. His Beloved is beside him, drawing him close and littering his face with kisses.

“My Darling, what troubles you?” she questions, her voice muted with exhaustion. He does not know how to explain these terrible visions. Visions that felt so utterly real, he wonders if they aren’t prophecy. When Gwyndolin finally manages, his Beloved gently cups his cheek in one hand and leans her forehead against his.

“I will not allow that to happen,” she vows, letting her eyelids flutter shut, “And if it does, then I, too, shall be consumed. For my love for you does not end with death.”

A/N: We are nearing the end of this story. It is hard to believe! I've gotten a couple comments about what is going to happen at the end of this story, if the ending will be happy or sad. Worry not! I plan to do three different possible endings that you can choose from, one of which will be a happier ending :) I wanted it to be a little like a choose your own adventure. So the last three chapters (chapters 10-12) will be the three different endings. Those will all go up at once when it comes time. our beloved summer — interview

1. how would you describe your role in this project?

“kook yeon su is a special character to me. she’s hardheaded, but fragile. the more she sharpens her exterior, the more her interior breaks — that’s the sadness of the character within her history. take that to modern day where she feels like she’s crafted this firm persona, and all it takes is choi woong to realize that everything inside was already broken the second she let her heart go. i think that is what made this role so special to me.”

2. what did you learn from playing this role?

“i felt like kook yeon su and i had a lot of similarities, not the way most people would think at first. i learned a lot about what it meant to finally take away a veil when filming in front of cameras, and truly letting your mask fall as you succumb to whatever the character may be feeling in that moment — i think of it like a marriage. when kook yeon su laughs, i laugh. when she cries, i cry. we’re one in the same now.”

3. what was a memorable moment from filming this project?

“watching the rough drafts before the drama was very special to me, especially the one i recall on christmas night when it was given as a present. i loved the cinematography, the color. the ost, and everything that went in — i felt so much energy exhausted from this production. for once, i welcomed the exhaustion.”

4. how did this project and role compare to what you’ve done in the past?

“shin hari and kook yeon su are similar, but very different. they’re both strong willed and hard headed, but i think shin hari is equalized inside and out whereas kook yeon su offers a strong contrast between who she shows and who she is. 

business proposal was a very light hearted romance that anyone could watch, but i think it takes a special person to understand how much our beloved summer makes you cry at times. to understand the gravity and little details of what it means to say hello, goodbye then hello again to someone you love. makes you think a bit harder than business proposal.

5. why should people watch this project?

“to enjoy a story that’s dear to my heart.”

6. you’ve been linked to being good friends with your co-star since years past, how does it feel to be working on the same project?

“have i really known my co-star for that long? i suppose it’s interesting that it’s an acting project and not a musical one. i can only hope i’ve managed to live up to expectations considering he hasn’t acted in a drama in years.”

7. if there’s one thing you could take away from kook yeon su what would it be?

“as much as i think her personality is littered in charm, i don’t think that’s for everyone. so, i’d have to say her collection of coats and minimalistic clothing pieces — oddly enough, we share the same style.”

8. is there a favorite quote you found from the script?

“ i just wanted to see a you that only loves me. please continue to love me, and don’t throw me away.”

Extra comment: I do be a pretty avid L01 supporter, and the reasons are probably very obvious to anyone who has ever visited it. I've never experienced anything like that in a video game (both before and since).

Though frankly, I think very highly of every room within my top 4, and I think that they're all perfectly valid vote options. So it feels really nice to see that they've all won, with the worst performing one being E08, which is currently in a tie for 5th place with WALL06 and H01 (and hopefully, within the next few hours, my beloved mural room with the shifting gravity is getting the support it deserves).

The one room that wasn't in my top 4, but still ended up doing well, is the S06 shelter in Metropolis, which I think is fair. Personally, I'd say that all three shelters on this poll are roughly equal, but that one easily wins out in the aesthetic department. I find it interesting how the devs used the exact shade of red that we see in Filtration System, which might have some lore implications too, so there's that bonus as well.

besides the Astreiant series, I also bound a copy of Slow Dancing In A Burning Room (one of my fave 00Q fics), mm whatcha say (Sarkan/Solya, Uprooted) and Indiana Lupin (the first volume in my R/S fics series). All four are different types of bindings! Astreiant is squareback bradel, Slow Dancing is rounded and backed bradel, mm watcha say is a sewn board binding, and Indiana Lupin is a plain old hardback binding, but self-ended.

I collected all of my Remus/Sirius fics into a 6 volume series, one story per volume with the exception of vol3, which is an anthology of my shorter fics and contains a total of 12 stories. I'm really happy with how well matched the books are and how bright and inviting they look!

The other three A6 hardbacks pictured all contain 2 stories each. Stargazer & Gravity has one after the other as Gravity is a sequel, but the other two books are tête-bêche bindings, meaning that the stories are bound in head to tail and when you flip the book over you can start reading the other story from the other direction. And yes, Come When Invited *is* a sequel to Two Make A Pair and I had intended for them to be bound in two different volumes, but then at the last minute I sewed the two blocks together and oops now it's a tête-bêche book.

paperbacks! Hood & Glove (Fahye) on the right is the first paperback I made - an experiment really, I made a text block like for HB and then pasted the first and last page down to the cover, like a self-ended HB. the other two are made in the same way, but the cover is cut from a misprinted running sheet, cardstock, that came wrapped around some decorative paper as protective wrapping. I don't like to waste materials and the misprints were so intriguing and beautiful I just had to use them. These two are Destiel fics, There's Only One Sure Thing That I Know (probably the one SPN fic I reread most often) and The Mostly Accidental Courtship of Dean Winchester.

NO GLUE PAMPHLETS MY BELOVED. listen, there's a lot of glue in bookbinding and sometimes I just get REALLY SICK OF IT and making these pamphlets was like a balm for the soul. as evidenced I remade Dozens of Ships because I wasn't entirely happy with how the first one came out (and also, the first one lived in my purse for so long it's now all tatty. I took it with me on vacation to Oxford so I could just read it whenever I wanted. it was amazing.) Project Bang doesn't have a cover because I wanted to try French link stitching, but I think I will take out the thread sometime and give it a cover and re-sew it like the other three.

1 hardback, 1 no-glue pamphlet, and 8 paperbacks.

the hardback (the birth of comets takes place on the tip of your lashes) is my first attempt at self-ending a HB and I did it because the book was so small I thought structurally it wouldn't be an issue, and it worked so well I did it again for a bunch of books. the pamphlet I made to see if no-glue pamphlet were comfortable on a smaller scale, and while it was fine I think this one I will also take the the thread out eventually and sew a cover on.

and then more paperbacks! fanbinding seems to favour longer fics in general because having a substantial amount of text means you have enough material to comfortably make an A5 or A6 sized hardback. however I like a lot of short fics too and while I like the idea of anthologies, sometimes I also just want little books to carry in my purse and read on the go, you know? and I've found these A7 paperbacks to be perfect for fics in the 1-5k word count weight class. and since I have an entire running sheet to make covers from, I'm not done making A7 paperbacks either!

Would you elaborate on why you think Ethan and OH MC should not be together? Is it because of the age difference and different levels of maturity? Career? Personality/temperament differences? I'm really curious. I think that throwing the canon away required a certain amount of courage :) And I also want to say that I appreciate your Tatuum creation and how she suites Ethan. (1/2)

Thank you so, so much for your Ask and your comments! I appreciate your curiosity! 💜

I want to preface my answer with this: this is my opinion and how I view these characters. I am more of a realist, and a lot of my views are based off of the question, "Now, would that really happen?" Some people in the fandom take Ethan x MC very seriously, and I respect that. I am not here to argue, nor are my intentions to insult others because of their passion for these beloved characters.

So, why shouldn't these two be together? You are actually hitting the nail on the head with your questions! They have some major differences that I believe in reality would cost them a healthy, long-lasting relationship.

The first thing I want to point out is this: if a man wants to be with you, he's going to be with you. If he's making excuses or keeping you hidden or is being wishy-washy*, a re-evaluation needs to happen. He either doesn't want to be with you like that, or he's not ready for a relationship and YOU need to back away.

Now, I can already hear someone saying, "But she was his subordinate, and they weren't allowed to fraternize!" And my response is this: a man at his caliber that has worked his ass off to get where he's at would go through the appropriate channels to be with you... if he wants to be with you.

*Some call it a "slow burn" and think it's romantic; I call it being "hot and cold" ... (and yes, I still chose him lol)

Let's talk about age, maturity and career. There is a fairly large time gap between Ethan and MC. It's not about age as a number; they are both in 2 completely different stages of their lives. Here's Ethan, this established, well-respected, world-renown, published physician. He has been through some life experiences as well as career experiences that you can't teach. He's tough, comes across as an asshole because he has learned the cost of being a physician; he understands the gravity of having patient's lives in his hands. And let's not forget his childhood and abandonment issues, not to mention something has happened in his life where he's been conditioned with a desire to prove people wrong (I actually HC him starting out as a poor student because of this; telling an advisor he wants to be a doctor and being laughed at because he didn't have the grades).

MC is a fetus MD. She literally just got out of school a couple of months ago. She has been in school for the past 6 years, not experiencing the real world--only doctor world. She's a novice, VERY inexperienced, literally a rookie. Interns are given shit for being newbies even though they are very, very smart... but they are still learning how to apply theory to practice, and truthfully, they don't become proficient until spending several years with patients and caring for them.

Quite frankly, I don't know one attending that would be like, "sure, I'll hang out with the interns"--and those are the nice ones. I would cringe and be embarrassed for this poor pixel when MC would bring him around her resident friends.

But... I think the thing that bothers me the most is the fact that I felt like Ethan, this established nearly 40-year-old man, has to change who he is in order to make it work with this young baby doctor MC. Is it possible they just weren't meant to be? I'll be honest: I don't understand his attraction to MC in the first place based on what he seems to value.

Some people call it "growth", and sure, maybe he has as a person. We're never done growing, and even relationships change us and grow us. But watching this hard-ass, God-complex asshole that is married to his job suddenly go soft, sharing his feelings and becoming touchy-feely with MC was bizarre to me (MC became his therapist).

Side note: do you remember when everyone was getting pissed off because Ethan wouldn't say "I love you" ... my eye still twitches to this. lol

Now, I understand this: Open Heart is a game. People play it almost like it's a fairy tale. The idea of having a secret love affair with your boss, and his hot and a doctor and smart... *swoon* I get it. It is hot (and when he says that big words, come to mama! lol)!

The same thing goes for writing fanfiction. I think people enjoy the fantasy of Ethan Ramsey; the idea that they can save a man from himself and change him and making outwardly more loving and gushing and openly sexual and romantic...

And you know? How dare I poo-poo on someone's fun, you know? Coming on here and daydreaming about Ethan (or any of the LI; Liam or Sam or Adrian, etc) serves as some readers/writers escape from reality. But... I think it's important that we have a healthy recognition of reality and why certain things actually wouldn't work.

Anyway, thank you so much for the thoughtful question! I hope this makes sense and serves to clarify my realistic views on Ethan x MC and why I personally just don't buy it.

How to win a heart of Malleus Draconia?

a/n: I started posting my writings here because I want to improve my English — so I technically wouldn't make this request. But! Someone on Wattpad (where I take requests) asked for the same thing, so I rolled up my sleeves and wrote this guide today in both languages. Enjoy~

1. Don't be afraid of him.

It is said that the first impression is the most important.

So when you first saw this guy walking through the corridor of Diasomnia, it was hard for you to get rid of that view from your head.

Illuminated both by the green magic flames set in the lobby, as well as by the moon, which eventually managed to break through the dark clouds and with a bright glow appear in the windows of the dormitory, he seemed... lonely and beautiful.

You shuddered as you took a step down the hallway and the dark-haired man turned to you. He measured you with his emerald eyes. And then you recognized him; all the conversations about the mysterious and fearsome Malleus Draconia flew through your head.

Everything told you to rush towards the hallway and run as far as possible, but a piece of you found it inappropriate. Or rather, no one would want to chase everyone away from themself... right?

When you realized you were looking at him for a while, you took a deep breath and nod slightly.

"Good evening, Draconia-san," you said quickly. After a while you added, "The moon is beautiful today, don't you think?”

 2. Smile a lot.

Today was a really wonderful day: the test was postponed, your favorite dish was given in the canteen, and for some reason, the last two lessons were canceled – your class had to make just a quick note about a topic and it took less than fifteen minutes.

"Something happened?" Malleus asked, seeing how almost in the jumps you walk past him. When you looked at him, he added, "You smile a lot.”

"I can stop smiling if you want," you made a sad face, but after a while, the corners of your mouth began to tremble uncontrollably and twisted up again. "Oops, I can’t. Today... it was such a good day... that I think I'm slowly using my life's happiness.”

"I didn't say that smiling is bad," he said. "You look so much better when you smile.”

"Oh," you sighed with apparent surprise. "Is it a compliment?"

"It’s rather a fact..?"

 3. From time to time visit him during club activities.

"Is this a class of the ‘Gargoyle research society club’?” with a deaf knock you opened the door. Malleus turned to you, making a break from browsing through the materials gathered in the library about the history of each of the gargoyles on the school grounds. And there were a lot of them.

"Yes," he replied briefly, getting up. "Do you need something, [Name]?"

"Not at all, my club don’t have a meeting today," you said, closing the door behind you.

You looked around: the room was as clean as ever, except for one desk, where were laid several huge volumes about statues in NRC.

“Are you here alone?” You said before you thought. You lowered your eyes to see Malleus nodding unconcerned slightly. You blinked several times trying to think of what else you could say. "This room... could be a secret base," that was the first thing that came to your mind. Malleus turned his head to one side, uncertain of your response.

“A secret base..? Why?”

"I have no idea," you admitted quickly. "But the very existence of a mysterious point is interesting, isn't it? Doing normal things, such as watching movies or just talking, seems more interesting in places like this,” After a moment of silence, you sighed. "You know what, this idea with the base is stupid”

"We can try," he replied with serious tone. You raised your eyes to see how he looked around the room. "But you'll just have to explain this idea to me in more detail. We can also tell Lilia, Silver and Sebek about it...” he smiled as if seeing your five together in his thoughts was a pleasure. "It will be surely... fun.”

 4. Get yourself a Tamagotchi.

"Look!" you spin a new key chain on your finger. You finally stopped and showed it to Malleus. "Now they are matching!”

A small electronic toy, in a dark green screen that, when it flashed, showed a virtual, pixelated animal. You were impressed with how good quality it was made, especially since you only gave the Shroud brothers a sketch of a toy that Malleus owned.

Your keychain was exactly the same, just a different color and with another pet.

Malleus pulled out his own device and put it on the table. He pressed one of the buttons and a small pet appeared on the keychain – a dragon.

"They can now be friends," you brought your toy closer to so-called Gao-Gao Dragon-kun.

"Do you think so?" He asked in a very surprised tone, but it sounded as if in a moment he were about to burst out with an inexplicably joyful and surprised laugh.

"Of course. Everyone needs a decent friend, no?”

 5. Gain the trust of Lilia, Silver and Sebek.

Lilia, one of Malleus' closest people. It is much more likely that you will meet him before Malleus. He will be very proud when he learns that Malleus has found a friend. If you become a taster of Lilia, in terms of his pastries, he will 100% like you, and at 20% you will leave the kitchen alive and well.

Silver, who has mastered the art of sleeping in any conditions. It's easy to get him into your plans, although with the craziest ones he will hesitate. Rather well-disposed towards everyone, he can cover for you when you are not in class— but he usually inadvertently falls asleep and both of you often have penal assignments after school.

Sebek, faithful to Malleus, if he doesn't like you, you won't have too many opportunities to stay by Malleus's side without a thunderous glances at you. He will recognize you if you will listen carefully to his monologues about his master and as a sign of your friendship, he will teach you by heart of all the titles and achievements of Malleus so far.

With this trio by your side, you can get a lot further than you might have imagined...

 6. Be a master in hide and seek.

You’d give your right arm that your breath was too loud.

You pressed your hands to your mouth as you crouched in the corner of the room.

From whose voices you already heard, you knew that Lilia had already found Sebek. This meant that you or Silver would still be helping cook dinner since Malleus didn’t come at the start of the game.

This may seem silly, but the ability to play classic games was one of the elements of the art of survival in Diasomnia.

It was thanks to games like ‘stone-paper-scissors’, hide and seek or tag that household chores fell on the shoulders of the losers. Lilia loved the idea, and there was always a proud smile on his lips when he saw his beloved children play together.

You heard the steps behind you and shivered.

Very slowly you turned around and looked up to see Malleus standing over you and wondering what you were doing, crouching in the darkest corner of the room.

Puns were also included in the survival pack.

Fearing that Lilia would hear your whisper, you put your finger on your mouth, asking him not to say a word. You put a begging eye into it – all but not cooking with Lilia. Not again.

Malleus nodded, recognizing the gravity of the situation, although he smiled.

Really, no one would want Malleus to be an enemy.

Or at least in such a situation.

 7. Do not hesitate to ask him for help with learning.

"In theory, you should focus on the space around you," Malleus pulled a wand in front of him. It flashed, and almost at the same time, a thin but incredibly strong protective barrier was created around him. “Weaker spells can be reflected. In turn, the stronger ones are better to block”

You nodded understandingly.

Defensive magic was not something easy to understand. Most depended on the person against whom the counter spell was being prepared. And there are countless people who walk on this Earth and want to start fights.

"Unique spells block or avoid physically," he continued. You nodded at every subsequent sentence, slowly feeling like all the lessons are eventually gaining transparency. “Using unique magic against unique magic, the stronger will win, both will lead to explosions or completely reduce.

He looked at you when you wrote down the last sentence in your notebook.

"I sincerely hope that you will only need this information in class," he said with a sigh. "If you need help, call me. I will come. I promise.”

 8. Sometimes be persuaded to wear extravagant clothes.

"Do you really think it suits me?" you turned around, looking at yourself from every possible angle in the mirror.

You were going to the theater in a few classes to see some era-related play that you've been discussing now in history lessons. Everyone, respecting the reputation, actions and achievements of theatre, dressed in their best clothes.

Malleus stood next to you.

He was already wearing a black and white outfit with green accessories. They all worked so well together and fitted him like a glove that you were sure that the whole outfit was made especially for him.

"Yes," he replied. "Everything you put on today suited you very well.”

Once again, with critical eyesight, you looked at the outfit, face and hair, before you quickly turned off the lights in the room and closed the door behind you.

Then you smiled at Malleus.

"We can go now," you said. You made your way through the portal to the main NRC building. "And... thank you for your help.

"My pleasure," he said. Under no circumstances was it just a polite formula. He really loved looking at you.

 9. Invite him to your birthday/party.

"Another break from school soon, huh?" — you muttered, leaning against the railing.

You took a deep breath and let the fresh, pleasant air refresh you.

"Are you going to home, [Name]?" Malleus asked. Green lights were still flying around him, so you guessed he’d just appeared here.

"I haven't decided yet," you sighed. "It would be nice to go home, but the break won't be very long... Ah, that's right!” you straightened up and turned to him. "How about spending another break together? As soon as I can, I will contact my family... although I cannot promise anything.”

Though he did not show it, Malleus' heart beat a little faster.

Spend free time? With someone? With someone he likes?

"Of course," he sounded less calm than he thought. He wasn’t often invited anywhere, even for the things he should have been on, so there was a lot of excitement growing in his body. "I don't see anything against it.”

 10. From "The Great Malleus Draconia-sama" to "Love".

"Ah, The Great Malleus-sama!" you sighed theatrically, taking from him a box of chocolates with a joyful smile. You could promise that because of this dark-haired boy here, you slowly become pampered. "Thank you for your generosity!”

Malleus frowned.

"The Great Malleus-sama"..?” he pondered, putting his fingers to his chin. "Did Sebek told you again to call me with this title?"

"No," you laughed softly at his reaction. "I did it out of curiosity. Maybe I could call you some cute nickname, hmm?" you smiled mischievously.

"For example?"

"By adding ‘-chan’ to your name?” you turned on your phone and typed something related to the nicknames. You started reading suggestions and struggled to hold back from laughing. ” ’Sunshine’, ‘star’, ‘flower’, ‘sweetheart’, ‘love’...

"I like the last one," he said, and the invisible force stung you to the ground.

"Would you like me to call you like that? Out of curiosity or out of love?" You laughed, but your cheeks were all red with blushes.

He smiled sincerely at your reaction.

"Hmm, I wonder..?"
