Update #1

How it's been going: Since the start of the semester, I’ve been filling out my work back plan and finalizing the timeline. Discussion with Sharla led to an expansion of my original concept to include aspects of a social media campaign. I'll have more details to share once I have my concept files in order.

What's coming up: These next two weeks focus on the development of the first of two analysis videos which will provide context for the music video I create. I’ll be making a survey to go along with the video and prepping promo for social media.

Hiccups, hurdles & AHA moments: While the end goal of the deliverable has not shifted from being a music video, I've had hiccups regarding the way I can contextualize the music video itself. There's some self-doubt but as I explore the feasibility of certain milestones in my calendar, it's clearing up. (<- Using my calendar to visually see the project timeline has been very helpful.)

Another "aha!" moment has been the decision to shift the audience survey from the post-production phase to pre-production. Having the surveys be completed by participants prior to the music video's creation will allow me to better incorporate and take audience feedback into consideration for the music video.

Timeline position: I’m still in the pre-production phase. September is set for pre-production and the production of the analysis videos. October will finalize the analysis videos and social media content, as well as focus on collecting and organizing data analytics from the survey participants. November is for the music video and posting of the pre-made content from the month prior.

tim meeting lex at a gala when he’s young. he knows lex is a villain but he’s also the only vaguely smart person there and he has a look of disgust every time someone says anything remotely dumb, which tim relates to SO much.

meanwhile lex seeing this kid who is so clearly going to be a supervillain when he grows older and quite honestly this child scares him a little. so he indulges him just enough to be on his good side. lex just about has a heart attack when tim off handedly mentions one of lex’s very secret, only 6 people know about it and 5 of them are hidden away and can’t see their family because of what they know, project.

every time they see each other at a gala there’s just a sense of “oh thank god someone smart is here” and spend half the time politely shit talking the idiots

cut to 17 yo tim drake (never aging again) and he just. shows up in lexs house one day like “give me the blessing to marry kon and i’ll tell you the absolutely groundbreaking gossip i just found out about rebecca” he gets his blessing without lex even questioning it. he knows tim drake is red robin anyway who else would be able to? he is a little disappointed he went the hero route but out of all heroes red robin is closest to becoming a supervillain anyway so it’s fine

lex however does not know any of the other batfams identity. brucie wayne is a fucking idiot who can’t tie his shoes (lex watches him stuff the laces in his shoes once) dick grayson is a Cop(negative), jason todd is dead, stephanie brown is the daughter of a villain and would probably want to be as far away from that life as possible, damian wayne he could buy as robin but there’s no way anyone biologically related to brucie could be even remotely competent, duke thomas seems too normal, and he can find nothing on cass wayne except she seems too sweet. besides tim’s competent enough to hide his identity from his family. especially the wayne family.

one of my favorite things about hotd is how we get exposed to the differences in the dragons' personalities. one great way to see this is through how each dragon forms a bond with a new rider. when aemond claimed vhagar, she bucked around like a bull and tried to throw him off to make him prove his worth by staying in the saddle. when seasmoke claimed addam, he hunted addam down and basically claimed addam himself. when hugh claimed vermithor, he stood up to him and roared in his face. and when silverwing claimed ulf, she headbutted and sniffed him before deciding to take him for a joyride. each has such a distinct personality and you can see a clear dichotomy between dragons pursuing their riders and riders pursuing their dragons.

anon, I am so sorry and I mean this in the best way, but I do think episode 5 is the absolute funniest place to have stopped following Twst because shit starts escalating SO fast after that. episode 6 literally starts with a secret government shadow agency breaking down our doors and kidnapping students. zero to a million instantly.

and like...that's not even the zaniest thing so far? Ortho's hacked into the collective human unconscious. there's time travel (sort of). "Crowley might be Malleus' long-lost father" is a serious theory. if you'd told me any of this back pre-episode 6, I would have asked for the link to this unbelievable but highly intriguing fanfic.
