I feel like if I’d had my sister around as in if we’d actually spent time together outside of obligatory car rides to obligatory family functions, I think I’d be a lot more well adjusted. I would have the quality girl time and I probably wouldn’t have felt as bad as I did in middle school. I wouldn’t have felt as alone as then. I think what really made me upset was feeling like I didn’t have anybody at the time that I felt like I could really talk to. I had E but I think I was embarrassed that I was dealing with it in the first place. And I think a part of me believed she saw what was happening and didn’t have the urge to defend me from it, so I felt alone but internally as well as in the external.

I think N was the closest to sisterly interactions that I wanted to have. It was like we were sharing a similar experience in the world. And I think what went wrong besides my projecting on her things she was uncomfortable with is that she was likely miles ahead of me in emotional intelligence. She saw that it was probably going to be a lot of work for me to see that in myself if I hadn’t already. And I’m pretty sure all this happened when I was 16. And as much as I can infer and critically think, my emotional intelligence has been lacking and I’ve chalked a lot of things up to me being inherently unlikable or me being in the wrong place or me learning a lesson.

It’s weird to say I miss her because I don’t know her anymore, I used to. I miss what we had. I miss not stopping my words for any conversation with anyone. I’m using less energy but it’s so exhausting.

“I can take care of myself, you know.” Neil’s cat ears are flat against his skull and the tail is swishing behind him, showing his displeasure.

Andrew pointedly looks at one of Neil’s bruises and raises his eyebrows, which puts a flush to the man’s cheeks. He mutters something under his breath, but even when Andrew strains his hearing, he can’t decipher the words.

Earlier today, Neil hit his head on the cupboard because he hadn’t noticed it was open. Now a bruise stands against his brow, but it’s already turning green, thanks to the familiar’s natural healing.

act of intention: day twenty-seven

today i lost a nail at work :( right when i grew them out to be healthy again.

as for today’s act, i’m going to bed earlier. school’s next week, and i desperately need to get my sleep schedule in a good place. not only will it make the adjustment to going to classes easier, it will also help my mental state to have a stable sleep and wake time every day.

i have to admit that i’ve gotten lazy with this series lately. ever since i finished my class, something’s been off. i don’t know if i’m too scared to want to change, or too tired to put in a consistent effort to make all these adjustments. i just have to remember the basics: food, journaling, hygiene, rest, and sleep. those are my priorities; everything else can wait until later this week, once those needs are met.

I'm Actually Using jQuery

I never thought I would actually use fucking jQuery in a project and see AJAX being used in a codebase with my own eyes, but here we are! And to be honest, I love it! I don't know, at this point I just love the wacky nature of JavaScript at the end of it all. Do I necessarily want to work with this type of code? No, but I will have fun if I need to.

Nonetheless, more progress was made on Project Dislate, and now it has support for deleting messages and translated ones. Hopefully until the end of the week, I'm able to support thread and forum posts.
