🕰 📰 Throwback Thursday [02032018]: Highlights from Sports Donga "Newcomer" Interview

...Nobody knows what the future holds. This was also true for actress Park Gyuyoung (25). After graduating from high school in her hometown of Busan, she was accepted into the Department of Clothing and Textiles at Yonsei University and moved to Seoul alone. In 2016, a new chapter in her life unfolded when she caught the eye of a representative from her current agency, JYP Entertainment, and after nine months as a trainee, she entered the entertainment industry as an actress.

Before debuting, Park Gyuyoung had experience as a cover model for a university magazine. This sparked her interest in becoming the subject of the camera. She received an offer to debut, and her decision, driven by "half-curiosity," has continued to this day.

"I didn't know much about acting and felt overwhelmed. Venturing into an area I had no prior connection with was frightening, but the more I did it, the more passionate I became. As a trainee, I was eager to debut, but after debuting, I wanted to become an actress who can express characters well. I also started wanting to appear on screen more often."

As she said, perhaps it was "good luck" that ended her relatively short trainee life and gave her the opportunity to step forward as an actress. Starting with the web entertainment program 'Why Do Girls Get Mad,' she continued to showcase the skills she had honed over the years in the web drama 'Magic School,' KBS 2TV's 'Drama Special - Kang Deok-Soon's Love History,' and the recently concluded general channel drama 'Just Between Lovers.' On March 8, she will release her first leading film, 'Monsters.'

...Park Gyuyoung, a third-year actress who is gradually feeling her own changes, spends most of her day practising acting and exercising, but she is not bored with this routine at all. She is no longer unfamiliar with the life of an actress.

"I used to tremble during auditions, but that's not the case anymore," she said with a smile. "I'm also getting rid of the disappointment and guilt I feel when I don't do well in auditions." She continued, "I haven't studied acting for a long time, so it was difficult to move naturally and freely on set. I'm not the type to take initiative, but I have the desire to go all the way if given the opportunity."

"When I said I wanted to become an actress, my parents were not strongly opposed. Being an only child, they must have been worried, but my parents gave me the decision-making power and trusted that decision. Therefore, I feel a stronger sense of responsibility. I want to become a daughter and an actress they can be proud of as soon as possible."
