So, I’ve been on a bit of a .Hack binge lately. Marathon’d (marathoned? what’s the proper past tense of marathon?) sign and it’s OVA’s, after having my only real experience with the series being constantly borrowing the manga of Legend of Twilight from the library as a kid.

Which led me to realise: I know jack shit about Kite as a character. The only thing I know about him is that later down the line he’s a legendary player with a strange hack/glitch bracelet, and from the little I’ve touched of GU, he might have gone off the deep end.

So, here I am, preparing to play the original four games, and I must say, for a PS2 game released 20 years ago (Jesus Christ), CC2 still had the ball on making games look good.

Favorite Place: Anywhere I can see the stars and Moon. I like to be outdoors in nature a lot. Otherwise at home. Anywhere my friends are at; at their house or anywhere shared.

Favorite book: That’s hard. I really enjoyed The picture of Dorian Gray, and other Oscar Wilde books. I really love I have no mouth and I must scream. If we’re talking manga/manwha, Tower of God hands down. Berserk, Chainsaw man, Elemental Gelade, and //.Hack: Legend of the Twilight Bracelet are some other notable ones.

Currently Reading: Tower of God, chainsaw man.

Favorite tv show: I have too many to be honest. Last watched Helluvaboss (does that count?) and some Shorsey.

Favorite food: I like Asian cuisine a lot, but also Latin food. I like a lot of different things.

This is a whole week late, but I still wanted to post it after finishing it today! I quite literally grew up with the .hack/dothack back in 2002 watching my bro play the IMOQ series along with Legend of the Twilight Bracelet and the SIGN series before getting to play them again as an adult. It really shaped my love for intense lore and JRPGS to the point that I still love them to this day.

Also I really, REALLY want a new dothack game! It’s been 20 years they need to celebrate it with something besides an expo!

-.Hack sketches! I was OBSESSED with the Legend of the Twilight Bracelet growing up but I never really consumed any other media from the series. I really want to get more into it though

Sometimes I forget that .hack had such a huge effect on everything I do when interacting with media.

Every character I create in any game has light pink (Aura) or platinum blonde hair (Lycoris) and goldenrod eyes (also Lycoris).

When I played PSO Part 1 and 2 on the GameCube, I named my character Reki2 because the huforce male outfit looked a lot like how he looked, and because I always liked the concept of usurping even as a kid. Of course I used the 2 because clearly he was first and I was the second. Afterwards, I just started using Reki3 - though don't assume that all of them are me. I had to change how I used it because apparently there were other Reki3s on many games and forums all around (plus most of them are gone so most records under that name are gone as well).

And all of that let to me always being a caster in one way or another or picking out the caster characters before any others, even though I do sometimes mix armor with magic when I am able to. In fact, it made me give hex casting a try in Dark Souls 2 because the hex staff reminded me too much of the wavecaster staffs.

The weirdest part, though, is that it was one of the earliest Special Interests I ever had. Every other weekend everyone knew it was My Show and I was allowed to watch it when it came on even if we were visiting family or anything like that. And even now, I remember a lot of it, whether SIGN, AI Buster, or Legend of the Twilight Bracelet.

Pokemon, natch, but also I ended up catching episodes of Dragonball/Sailor Moon online Saturday Mornings in rural MN.

First anime I watched more than just like, an episode every few weeks, was Dragon Ball Z in the early 00s, and then some .hack:// Legend of the Twilight Bracelet.

That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science

1. My love of voice acting trivia started when I was around 7 or so. I was watching a home video of me as a baby and my dad was talking with me in the video but I didn’t recognize his voice back then. Since then I picked up the skill to recognize voices with somewhat decent accuracy and can make predictions on who will voice whom. It’s also fun when someone plays a ridiculous role and that can be shown to throw people off guard. (Also I have a better chance of meeting dub actors due to my location so I may focus on dubs a bit more than subs)

2. Some nerdy firsts! Manga was .hack// Legend of the Twilight Bracelet, anime subtitled was Shugo Chara, Toonami anime was Bobobo, video game crush was Roy from Melee, anime crush was Balmung from .hack// (his voice actor, Crispin Freeman, made me realize voice acting was an actual profession)

3. I can whistle while inhaling and exhaling

4. Mark Twain is apparently my great-great-great uncle-in-law on my mom’s side. When I learned that in the 3rd grade I grew an immediate interest in writing stories

5. There was a time when I also wanted to be a geologist so I carried really heavy rocks in my backpack one day in 3rd grade. My mom was concerned why it was so heavy but had a goodhearted laugh when she saw the rocks. I got rid of them only a few years ago
