This is a whole week late, but I still wanted to post it after finishing it today! I quite literally grew up with the .hack/dothack back in 2002 watching my bro play the IMOQ series along with Legend of the Twilight Bracelet and the SIGN series before getting to play them again as an adult. It really shaped my love for intense lore and JRPGS to the point that I still love them to this day.

Also I really, REALLY want a new dothack game! It’s been 20 years they need to celebrate it with something besides an expo!

So... I suppose I never posted this here. This twitch banner was my first big commission piece when I started doing freelance full time, and it was for a friend’s charity stream for which they were playing the entirety of .hack//G.U. Last Recode. Straight. For like a week. It was amazing.

I finished this in January of this year, and even just since then I’ve grown a lot, learned a lot, and changed a lot. This was the first piece I did where I felt like I’d earned the right to even try to make a living with art. And, while I can’t say that has been a flawless process, I’m still sure this is the path for me. So... This piece means a lot to me. Not just because it was a big project, not just because someone trusted me to do it for a thing that they cared so deeply about, but because it kinda... Drives home this strange phenomenon that .hack is in my life. Every time it feels like my life begins to move in a strange and wonderful direction .hack slides back into my stratosphere in some shape or form. Kinda crazy actually...

So... thank you, Chi, for commissioning me to make this for you. And thank you .hack for existing just as you are. As the wild, silly, and sad story that continues to capture my imagination and inspire my motivation to this day. I’ve been here for... God... Probably a decade now. and with any luck I’ll be here for a decade more.
