Bernice first learned of her talent to speak with the dead shortly after her mother’s death. Her spirit came to torment Bernice, but Bernice was unrepentant for her role in her mother's death. The visit did, however, open her eyes to spirit world and she began to study it in earnest.

She can sense spirits, see them, and using advanced necromancy, can summon and control them. She can also capture them and use them in other magicks, though it takes a lot of energy.

She also has the ability to read and see auras, and travel in the astral realms. Because of the latter, she is able to walk through dreams, and even influence them slightly. She mostly uses astral travel to further commune with spirits, gods, or other entities.

Astral travel also allows her to remote view people, to watch them from afar.
