Can't get over just how emotionally powerful Risk of Rain 2 is.

Never have I seen emotions come together as cleanly, or as powerfully as they do with Risk of Rain 2's final stage, on the Moon...

It always hits deep...

I can't get over how amazing the soundtrack is as well.

Makes the run an absolute pleasure to experience when that music is playing... all those tracks...

and one of the most powerful ones I've ever listened to, one of the strongest ever made for any game...

Imagine you're a ten year old with a brand new Gamecube and you're booting up your first ever 3D Sonic game after years of 2D gameplay on the Sega Genesis, and as the first level begins THIS high energy song starts playing, and it's every bit as epic and cool as you imagined it would be. YES Sonic the Hedgehog, I WILL follow you and set you free and trust you and we will escape from the city. The nostalgic memory of this specific song is part of why I love this game so much. Like what a way to open your game.

It is one of the most iconic and well known sonic songs. It is a banger and a perfect opening section to the game.

Just me vibing to "... con lentitud poderosa" while writing possibly the most emotional scene in Echoes of Shadows that's meant to bring everything to a close. (Is it written out of order? Yes. But it's been stopping me from writing anything else in the book, so I just had to get it down)

And all that's going through my head is that yeah, this really is the end of their story. This is the end of a year long investigation and- for all intents and purposes- adventure:

For the girl who made a deal with the devil and has sought absolution through one last bloodied mission;

For the boy who fled from his people to hell itself, and came back a man his father could be envious of;

For the lady who chose a lifetime of being hated over even one more drop of blood on her hands:

For the man who should have died years before if not for his unyielding spite to keep him alive;

For the woman who braved a year-long nightmare that her people might flee a country that hated them simply for existing;

For the chained and enslaved god who wept first at the cruelty of humanity, and then at its terrible beauty;

Yeah no, it might not canonically play during this scene but now it'll be the song I hear every time I need to reread it for an editing pass-through. Plus, it's shaping up to be a scene I'm proud of, which is quite a rare thing.

Weird question, but do you happen to have any info on a doujin fighting game called Million Knights Vermillion? All info I have found comes from the nearly empty GBL page and old Spanish blogspot sites and they all call it one of the worst they have ever played.

Not a weird question at all, but it shouldn't be that hard to find anything on it. Unless you're forced to use regional internet, I guess?

MKV, in short, is a huge disappointment of a fighting game; I don't think there's any behind-the-scenes documentation to explain why it turned out the way it did.

It was developed by "NRF", better known as Frontier Aja, who are most famously known for developing the "Touhouvania" games.

They also made Big Bang Beat, which isn't that popular of a fighting game but it's equivocal to Melty Blood in some ways.

So people had high expectations of MKV due to Aja's track record.

The animation on just about every character seems unfinished and inconsistent, Yuri seems to be missing animations AND moves despite being a poster character.

Gameplay-wise it FEELS like the input-reading is weird?

The damage scaling is insane so you're better off doing single hits than actually going for any amount of style.

I can't tell you anything about the setting because I just don't care and I'd rather not know more about the apparently 14-year-old boy wearing belts.

Some of the characters are in MUGEN, namely Smile, Yuri and Tamara. They're probably higher quality there than in the actual game.

The music is alright, they got MintJam for the opening.

There was a point in my life where I began taking walks before dawn.

I woke at these odd hours despite sleeping late. However, sleep evaded me, so the walks began. At first I was afraid of walking at such a time. The absence of any sounds or movement raised suspicion at every corner, and I tensed at every stimuli, relaxing when I saw it was just the bushes swaying.

As the walks continued, the fears lessened. I became more familiar with them: the silence, the paths. I knew which sodium lights flickered, when I would hear the rattling of distant trains, and where the strays made their homes. But the nights do not last forever, and I returned home before the shadows began shrinking. I had not known then, but I began fearing again.

But one morning, I woke a little later, roused out of bed with less haste, and took longer to tie my shoes. I heard the same silence, saw the same bushes, walked the same steps. And then something similar to happiness happened. The sun rose, with a powerful slowness.
