tvinsider - âInterview With the Vampireâ Stars Break Down That Bloody Finale
Jacob, in Danielâs final monologue, he says Louis has a messed up idea of love. What is Louisâs idea of love to you?
Jacob Anderson:Â I think itâs a constantly moving, movable feast. I think it evolves in different ways, and I think weâll continue to explore what his idea of love is. We know he wants it desperately. He wants to be accepted and to be understood. And I think thatâs a big part of what love means to me. Itâs about somebody else accepting you and you accepting them in all of their multitudes.
Maybe Louis didnât exactly find that in Lestat, but thatâs also kind of the premise upon which he first fell for him. This person said, âI see you.â And I think thatâs a really important thing for Louis is being seen and understood. But I donât know if he has particularly healthy ideas about love. As evidenced in the show and in the story. [Laughs]
Sam, same question for Lestat, who I imagine has a very different perspective on it.
Sam Reid:Â Look, Lestat, one of his whole M.O.s as a character is he falls in love first, and then deals with the repercussions of being a sociopathic monster. How do you interpret love through that lens? And this is the thing, particularly with Louis and Lestat and why theyâre similar in a way (and Claudia and all the vampires, really) is that they have to exist in a human society to survive. And they deal with it in different ways.
They have to survive in a world where human convention needs to be followed to some degree, because they survive off eating human beings. Or they can follow an Armand path â youâll find a bit more about his class of vampires in the books, which donât necessarily integrate with society.
Louis, Claudia, and Lestat tried to integrate with society in that capacity, and therefore when youâre looking at yourself and âam I a lovable thing,â youâre actually always reflecting yourself against human beings, which are much less monstrous and psychotic. And so how can I ever be a lovable thing? Iâm so terrifying. I think the issue they all sort of feel is that âI donât feel worthy of love. I donât feel like I can be properly loved for the monster that I am.â Thatâs the kind of question that particularly Lestat is always dealing with, and the way that he behaves is always a reaction against that. He knows heâs bad, heâs really good at being bad, heâs really good at being and playing a bad, evil vampire. But he wants to be loved, and he loves back. But sometimes if youâre not gonna get love, you may as well take the hate, because theyâre pretty close.
The season is bookended by these epic bloody scenes where you go full operatic vampire mode. How fun was the Mardi Gras ball massacre to film, and what vampire traits did you have to figure out how to express for it?
Bailey Bass: I had to figure out was how Claudia acts when sheâs in this frenzy and really, really wants to drink someoneâs blood. I grew up being obsessed with Twilight. In the third movie, Bella cuts her arm, and then [the vampires] turn and look at her. I remember loving that scene as a kid, and it kind of inspired Claudiaâs frenzy.
But then more than that, I donât think people realize how technical it was. All those kills were in different sets throughout the house and on different places of the stage and it all needed to be blocked out. And on top of that, weâre feeling raging emotions. Frenzy is, for at least me playing Claudia, was similar to playing varied depression or playing anger or playing extreme joy. So it was very elevated.
Jacob Anderson:Â I wasnât there for a lot of it. We started doing Dubai around the same time, so I actually missed a lot of that.
Sam Reid:Â It was broken up into lots of pieces, that whole sequence, so it was a weird thing to shoot. We shot it over a couple of weeks, and weâd shoot one little piece of each death and one murder. You finish drinking the blood at this point, then you walk up the stairs at a different point, or Louis jumps across the table at this point. It was sporadic and spread out, which kind of felt like we were always covered in blood.
For weeks I would go to work and I would just be covered in blood, sitting around drenched in the f***ing sh**. [Laughs] I became so attached to that costume, I took it home with me. We both have those bloody shirts that I die in.
Oh my gosh, I love that. Just have it framed on your wall.
Sam Reid:Â Well unfortunately, âcause itâs all mouth blood, it doesnât dry, so itâs just this constantly sticky garment.

The response to this show has been overwhelmingly positive. How does it feel to be part of one of the most beloved new shows of the year?
Bailey Bass:Â Itâs really exciting. I think Iâm overwhelmed by how accepting people were of Claudia, even though we had some changes â you never know how the fans are gonna feel. Iâm so happy that the Anne Rice essence of Claudia that was in the books is in the show. A fan made an edit of Claudia throughout the entire season, and Iâve watched it like eight times. I was tearing up because Iâm so happy that they love her as much as I do.
Jacob Anderson:Â I was saying to Sam yesterday that itâs so amazing. You want to be a part of something that people feel strongly about, whatever those feelings are. Whether theyâre feelings of disappointment in the characters or theyâre just feelings of, I love these characters so much, whatever it is. Just some provoking, strong feeling is, for me anyway, what I want to be a part of in my life. We all love the show so much. We love working on it, and we are fans of the writing and the craft that goes into it outside of ourselves that itâs so great to see that people agree.
Sam Reid:Â Yeah, âcause we really didnât know what we were making. It was such a bizarre shooting experience. It was like we went into this bubble, this cocoon world, and it only feels like we just finished shooting it, really. Then we went straight into Comic-Con, then bits and pieces of it coming out online, and then the show coming out. It feels a little bit like weâre still very much there. Itâs been amazing to put it out there and let it exist outside of us as well and just go like, âOK, well, here you go. Itâs yours now.â And itâs nice that people like it.
#jam reiderson#jacob anderson#sam reid#interview with the vampire#iwtv#season 1 press#i am pretty sure that there's also a video (or maybe it was in the iwtv podcast) where they mentioned they kept the bloody shirts#i was even thinking that this was transcriptions of that interview#need to find where they said that

Skirt lifter (Chapter 1)

Genre: High school au, slow burning love, fluff, mention of mature language (+14)

Summary: In which Park Seonghwa is accused of being a pervert.
Word count: 827
Taglist: @dinossaurz (if anyone want to be add at the tag list, you can commentđ€)
Senior year, the moment in life when you should go out with your friends and make decisions that you'll regret in the future. I regret how I didn't live my teenager life, only heaven knows how much I'd like to be that teenager but even if I wanted to, I couldn't afford it.
Since my dad left my mom and I four years ago, we have to survive with the little we had it didn't help when my mother fell into depression and started drinking every day, leaving me alone, emotionally and physically.
That's why at an early age I had to apply to every job that I came across, hoping they would accept me. Fortunately, I was able to had jobs to put a roof over our heads and some food and that's the reason I wasn't able to make any friends ever.
My thoughts were cut when I was climbing up the stairs at the school, when I felt the end of my skirt being lifted and felt down I paused for a second and started to get red, not from embarrassed from anger. I spun around slowly and saw two guys where like 2 or 3 steeps lower than me, the one farther from me has a smile on his lips, he had red hair, mischievous eyes with a mole under one eye and a very sharp jawline, I would have found him very attractive if he hadn't been involved in this situation.
However, the one closer to me seemed more surprised than me. He had blonde hair perfectly stylish, eyes wide open, full lips and also a sharp jawline.
"Wooyoung!" The blonde hissed at the red one before turning to me "I'm so sorr-"
Without thinking, I punched the blond guy in the jaw sending him flying down of the stairs.
It was fair enough, he was the one closer to me so he had lifted my skirt. I glared him and he looked at me with a shock face grabbing his jaw.
I turned my back again and ignored the whispers of the students, the girls expressing their concern for the blond one. Trying to ignore the pain in my knuckles, later at home I would put some ice at my hand, after I leave the scene and started walking to my classroom I recalled that today I was wearing my Pororo printed shorts underneath.
Oh God, why me?
ââââââââ
"Lee Minseo! Can you cover my duty today? I have something to do"
"Can you also cover mine? I have some errands to run"
That's what my classmates said when I entered the room, always running from the cleaning duty but I didn't bother to look at them, I just waved them off.
"Thanks Minseo, you are the best!" They shouted out leaving the classroom.
As if they were my friends.
I hate cleaning, only accepting since it gives me a reason to stay longer here and not at my home.
I waited till all my classmates left the room to start the cleaning duty, but only one person was there packing his things, our class president.
"You know they're just lying, right?" He looked at me swinging his bag over his shoulder. "You know you can said no to them too." I nodded
"I know" I muttered while aligning the desk and chairs.
"You must love cleaning"
"Oh yeah, the broom and I are lovers" he chuckled.
"Then you're a very kind person" he smiled at me.
"Actually, I'm cursing you in my head hoping you would leave mow" laughing again at my statement.
He's the one who is always kind to me, always initiating the conversation with me. Although he's and introvert, he knows how to treat people and they love him for that and I tend to answer him with short words to end our conversation.
"Hongjoong! Let's go and make fun of Seong-" the guy with red hair from this morning appeared at the door. "Hey Pororo, what's up?" He smiled at me.
I get angry and started walking towards him to punch him like his blond friend, but Hongjoong pulled me back with his arms.
"Hey hey, save it for when there's an audience" he mentioned with a smile and I ignored him and continued with the cleaning.
"See you tomorrow, Lee Minseo" he laugh at my behavior and get out the class with the red hair guy who started laughing like a hienna.
It was 4 p.m. when I finished the cleaning, leaving a hard sighed I started walking to the school's gates.
I stopped to look at the sky and it looked really beautiful and I smiled at that, but my smiled didn't last when I looked down and found the same blond guy crouched right in front of me.
"Wow, you must really like looking up through girls skirts" my voice came out cold and I raised my fist, ready to punch him again.

Broken

Prompts: DAY 24 - âiâm doing this because i care about youâ @febuwhump Characters: Nakagoshi x reader Fandom: High and Low Summary: Nakagoshi making everything worse
A/n for prompts: Hello guys! This is my first time trying a prompt challenge. I hope you like the short fics I wrote. I will finish them by writing some of the requests I have. I love you đ
Sorry for the grammer or spelling mistakes.English is not my main language so...
Thank you and love you đ„°
Warnings: mention of fights but mostly fluffy
The young boy stood in front of the door of the broadcasting room, deciding whether to enter or not. He knew how much he hurt her. They had their first serious fight. And he was a little afraid of getting beaten by the three bodyguards next to his girlfriend inside.
While he was walking back and forth in front of the door, the door of the broadcasting room opened and someone came out. Even though Nakagoshi turned his head to see the person he saw, Todoroki had already seen him.
The boy with glasses raised his eyebrows and looked at the younger boy.
âI know why you are here, but it would be a lie if I said I wasn't surprised by your courage.â
Todoroki rolled his eyes when Nakagoshi nodded shyly.
"You can go in, tell Tsuji and Shibaman that I'm looking for them."
Nakagoshi nodded and bowed slightly
âThank you senpaiâ
Todoroki nodded and headed towards the stairs. The young boy opened the door of the broadcasting room and entered with fear.
Tsuji and Shibaman were playing mobile games on the couch. As soon as the door opened, the girl punching the punching bag and the duo turned to the door.
Y/n was quite angry. She was also a part of this school and it made her angry that her boyfriend was treating her like this.
Shibaman stood up from the couch and moved towards the door.
Nakagoshi looked at the two nervously. The fights between Oya factions were over. Y/n had joined the Todoroki Faction, although they faced each other many times at first, those days were in the past. And the two fell in love with each other.
In fact, others were also quite happy about this situation. But today's fight made everyone angry.
Nakagoshi was in fault. What he said wasn't nice. Y/n was broken. Even though he realized his mistake now, Tsuji and Shiba still wanted to beat him.
Nakagoshi looked up at Shiba and bowed.
âCan I talk to Y/n, senpai?â
âCan you?â
When Shibaman raised an eyebrow and asked, Tsuji smiled and stood up. He touched Shiba's shoulder and stood in front of Nakagoshi.
âWe will be right there, outside of the door.â
"But-"
âShiba, let's go. They need to talk.â
When Tsuji pulled Shiba's arm and wanted to take him out, Shiba gave a threatening look one last time and went out with Tsuji.
Nakagoshi sighed and looked at the girl who was still punching the punching bag. She wasn't looking at him, she wasn't saying anything. He must have really hurt her.
He walked slowly towards the young girl. He held the bag she punched tightly and made the young girl stop. Y/n lowered her arms and looked at the boy in front of her.
Her gaze was very serious.
"What do you want ?"
âPlease don't talk to me like that, I want to apologize.â
Y/n raised her fist again and punched the bag the boy was holding. She sighed and shouted
"I am tired. I am really tired. I'm tired of fighting about it all the time."
The young girl's voice became hoarse after a while. Her boyfriend nodded and took her hand.
"I know, I'm sorry. But you don't understand me either-â
âBecause you're wrong.â
Y/n pulled her hand back and moved towards the couch. She sat down angrily and looked at the boy coming after her
âYou are wrong. I was coming to the fights even before I met you. The only way to survive in this school is to fight. I really don't understand, why are you doing this?"
"Because I care about you." The young boy lowered his head and crouched in front of the young girl
âI'm doing this because I care about you, y/n. But I have no right to interfere with you. I know. I am sorry. I'm just too scared of losing you, so I don't know what I'm saying."
When the young boy's eyes filled with tears, y/n looked at him in surprise for a few seconds. She knew that Nakagoshi truly loved her. Even though she was hurt, she didn't want to see him cry. She took him by the hand and stood up with him.
âYou are such an idiot. Just like everyone else in this school. But unfortunately I love you."
The young boy smiled at his girlfriend who hugged him and hugged her tightly. Being separated from her was the worst feeling in the world...

Donnaâs Wednesday Radio Show Prompt List #17
It's that time again! The Wednesday Radio prompt list!
Please check the updated character list on my pinned post to see who I am writing for before submitting a prompt!
Also do not forget to put the entire prompt into your ask!
Hey Doctor could you give me somethin' To ease the pain
Started talking and the line went dead
I'll take the blame for the sake of being with you
face down on the mattress
At the foot of the stairs With my fingers in your hair
You've got my life in the palm of your hands
She comes round and she goes down on me
The sacrifice is never knowing
Those little red panties they pass the test
Why don't you ask him what's going wrong?
She's a much more beautiful person Then you'll ever know.
baby you're the world to me
Believe me, I know just what you're going through.
Smiling in the pictures you would take
I just wanna make you smile
I've lied to you
And you hold me, and we are broken
I'm too young to die
With your name in a heart tattooed
I know you're tired of waiting,
She hates the world
Those days you were wearing that velvet dress
The way she move that ass to the beat
Your kiss is like whiskey, it gets me drunk
I'm scared, I'm not coming down
Make me come alive, come on and turn me on
Never heard a single word you said
can I get you out your panties
In this life, it's OK to cry, sometimes.
Four dozen roses
And I won't run for my life
Won't you be my little darling
You got that kind of medicine that keeps me comin
It can be hard to see when it's right in front of you.
Something tells me you know how to save me
A shot rings out and you go running for cover
I woke up, the room was cold
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
I got a kiss under the bleachers
When I'm with you I feel like I could die And that would be alright
Don't say that you love me
Now I'm struggling to survive
I'm not listening when you say good-bye
fell asleep inside you
Doing crystal meth, will lift you up until you break
I'm standing on the rooftops shouting
In the back of the car, on the way to the bar, I got you on my lips
I know she'll be the death of me
Why don't you ask him if he's going to stay?
Even the people who never frown eventually break down
And I wake up in the morning with the taste of your tongue
I know that I can survive
I'm burning up
You did not break me
I could walk you down the aisle
You're one of a kind,
You got your body speaking to me
You're strange, insane
The way you saved me, who could blame me
How I'm gonna deal with you
'Cause loving you is a job I don't need
The worst is yet to come
Why don't you tell me what's going on?
But you turned into another liar
It's all over the front page
I got my hands dirty while you rolled cigarettes
Why don't you tell me who's on the phone?
She is the freak of the week
But you won't see me fall apart
Fuck the feds
He said, "Saw red
You should be my bitch
Abused, confused Always love the one that Hurt ya,
Tonight, let's see you get naughty
If all you've got to prove today is your innocence,
she'll always get the best of me
It's time to clear up your emotional debris
It's too late to say you're sorry
Showing off your skin, I wanna see more
You're just like every other lover
You did not break me

Haunted Houghton Mansion
Many secrets abide in the Houghton Mansion in North Adams, and just not the ghostly kind. Built by Albert Charles Houghton circa the 1890s, the extravagant home was a symbol of his wealth and prestige. He had made his fortune as president of Arnold Print Works, and he also was the first mayor of North Adams. Not bad for a local boy who made good.
In 1900, Houghton, his wife, Cordelia, and their youngest daughter, Mary, who was twenty-three at the time, settled in the house on Church Street. They lived there contentedly enough, and in 1914, Houghton bought his first car, a beautiful Pierce-Arrow that seated seven. He was very proud of his new possession, but it would bring tragedy to the family.
Houghton put driving the vehicle into the hands of the family servant and chauffeur, John Widders. On the morning of August 1, 1914, with Widders in the driving seat, Houghton and Mary set off for a road trip to Bennington, Vermont. Accompanying them were Dr. and Mrs. Hutton of New York, and their daughter, Sybil, who was a childhood friend of Mary's.
A half hour into the trip, the Pierce-Arrow made its way through the town of Pownal, Vermont, heading up Oak Hill Road-a rocky and bumpy strip of land that was in the process of being repaired. As Widders navigated the car around to the left of a team of repairmen, the car tilted, then tipped down a steep incline. It rolled over several times before coming to rest in a field. All the passengers except for Mary were thrown from the tumbling car. Mrs. Hutton was killed when the car rolled over her. Mary suffered a great deal of trauma and succumbed to her injuries a short while later at North Adams Hospital. The rest of the passengers, except Mrs. Hutton, survived with cuts, bruises, and a broken bone or two.
The incident was immediately ruled an accident by state authorities in Vermont. The report said the soft shoulder of the road was to blame for the car tipping, but it did little to settle the nerves of the chauffeur, John Widders. He blamed himself for the two deaths, and the morning after the accidebnt, he shot himself.
Houghton fell into a depression after the accident and the suicide of John Widders, and just nine days after the death of his daughter he had a stroke and passed away.
The mansion stayed in the family until 1926, when Houghton's daughter Florence and her husband, William Arther Gallup, sold the home to the Freemasons, who have owned it ever since. The Masons added a lodge to the house where the garden used to be. And by some accounts, Houghton and a few others may still be hanging around.
Josh Mantello has a unique perspective on the Houghton Mansion and its hauntings. He first heard about the ghosts of the building as a teenager, when his father, a member of the Masonic lodge, told him stories about the place. He said members claimed to hear footsteps going up and down the stairs, but found no living person nearby when they investigated. Lights would go on and off by themselves, and the lodge members would smell smoke, especially in the front parlor, even though smoking was not allowed.
In May 2000, Josh Mantello became a Mason and learned more about the ghosts and other secrets the building still holds. In one dusty, dark hallway upstairs there are a couple of odd Masonic artifacts. The first is a wooden electric chair, complete with exposed copper wires running down the length of it and a small box behind the chair about the size for a car battery. Next to the electric chair are two beds of nails. "I don't know what they were used for," Mantello said. "I asked some of the old-timers in the lodge about them, and they won't say." These Masonic relics remain mysteries covered in dust and a dark recess of the mansion.
Back to the ghosts . . . in 2004, Mantello co-founded the Berkshire Paranormal Group. He and his team have investigated the Houghton Mansion well over one hundred times now, and they've managed to uncover even more mysteries inside Houghton's old house.
So who is haunting the mansion? "A. C. Houghton, we're pretty sure his daughter Mary, and John Widders," Mantello said. "And then there's something in the basement. . . ."
"I'm not saying it's a little girl," Mantello said, "but it's some kind of small, shadowy creature." Mantello has been on investigations in the basement at night when the only light coming in was from the small cellar windows near the far ceiling. He and others have claimed to see this shadowy figure poke its head out from one of the basement rooms. "It's kind of shy," Mantello said. "I saw it poke its head out, then float out of the room in front of me before going back in and disappearing."

canopic jar
summary: marc is exasperated by you, but he needs to behave because you're steven's girlfriend. pairing: steven grant x angry & unpredictable!reader warning & content: swearing, violence (reader beats the shit out of a dude), crack, some angst, some fluff, fem!reader wc: ~1.4k
a/n: i absolutely love the 'bag of tricks' series by @heli0s-writes, it brings me so much joy, and i thought 'hmm, what would marc do if he met someone chaotic, unpredictable and with anger management issues?' and this is how this piece was born. i may or may not continue this, hint hint, nudge nudge
orange italics for marc
Marc Spector is in physical pain whenever Steven lets him out.
He's been shot, stabbed, beaten to a pulp, survived the smite of gods but nothing, absolutely nothing can compare to the agony, the antipathy and the loathing he feels towards you.
Those words are big, he doesn't reaaaally hate you â you like to think that â but he truly dislikes you, and cannot possibly fathom from in circle of Hell Steven found you.
Well, he knows exactly how he found you, Marc was inside his head that faithful day, when you decided to visit the museum. Dainty, like a fairy straight out of some weird fantasy cosplay porn, you gingerly touched the very canopic jar that had the label DO NOT TOUCH under it.
Boom. Crash.
That jar met its maker, broken in tens of pieces and the stenchâ oh, God, the stench! It came as no surprise when you inevitably gagged, everyone around you backing off when your eggs and bacon came back, burning your esophagus.
What a fucking dumbass. Marc said, but Steven, oh, poor Steven, he was stunned.
In your defence, you never thought the jar had its contents full. You thought it was a replica, a cheap copy made by the British Museum.
"How was I supposed to know you lot had a 2.000 year old liver in that cookie jar?" Was your pathetic excuse. Still, you paid for the damage, and boy, were your debts enough for three generations. Goddamn cookie jar.
That day, Steven fell in love with you, but that day was the end of Marc's last crumb of sanity.
*
Steven's apartment is covered in post it notes with simple and easy-to-follow instructions. Nothing can go wrong, right?
Right?
Except for that one time when you emptied Gus' tank to clean it and accidentally set fire to it â how the fuck do you burn a tank???
Or that one time when you wanted to bake a souffle and flooded the kitchen â is she seriously that stupid???
Oooor that one time when you "accidentally" chained yourself to Steven's bed and couldn't reach the key, so you spent 17 hours and 23 minutes starving and thirsty.
Marc found you asleep, uncuffed your ankle and made you a sandwich. That was also the time you learned Steven had a spare key under the mattress and you could have easily unchain yourself.
*
Eventually, Marc got used to your presence and your absolutely ludicrous actions. He learned to predict some of your choices, but you were still unpredictable. He learned to read you, but you were still illiterate â in the nicest possible way. Sometimes his reflexes would be swift, and he'd catch you before hurting yourself.
And other times, you'd fall down the stairs because you got distracted by a cat, or a puppy, or a goddamn rat.
You're not stupid, you're just not paying attention. You're careless and carefree.
Steven loves every bit of you, because the way he sometimes fucks up Marc's missions matches your erratic personality.
And for Marc it's hell.
His very own pure, unfiltered personal hell.
*
Tonight, the two men also learn about your anger management issues.
Marc's on a mission now. It requires stealth and precision, and Steven promised not to interfere.
Khonshu is a merciless god when it comes to those who make mistakes. He punishes and does not forgive, and right now, he's got Marc to "discipline" a few thieves in South London.
"So, do you want me to break all bones or just the arms?" Marc seeks approval from the god before acting. He's sat on a rooftop, his suit bright in the moonlight, scowl plastered on his face.
"Break the legs, too." You suggest.
"Right." He nods, before freezing on the spot, head slowly turning to his left. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
His voice screams exasperation.
"Tracked your phone."
Marc only gives you the how-the-fuck-did-you-manage-this look and you shrug.
"What, like it's hard."
"It's turned off!" Now he's screaming screaming.
"And?"
Jesus fucking Christ. He notices you're wearing all black, as if you're some kind of international super spy, and if the laws of anatomy would permit, his eyes would be doing a full 360 now.
"Stay here. Don't get in my way."
"You got it, partner!" You salute him, face solemn and serious.
Marc dives off the rooftop, gliding through the air with his fancy cape and does his cool superhero landing in a narrow alleyway while you take the fire escape and climb down a million steps. It was worse going up.
Okay, Khonshu lied. Those petty thieves aren't just thieves, they're selling Egyptian artefacts on the black market, and Marc isn't supposed to just discipline them, he's supposed to unalive or worse, arrest them.
And it's fun to sit back watch Marc absolutely obliterate the men, until a poor stray cat happens to run through the fight.
"Watch out for the cat!" You yell and distract Marc enough for a thug to kick him in the nuts â he won't be having any kids soon. "Oof-" You bite your lip. "That's gonna need an ice pack."
"Didn't I tell you to fuck off?"
"No, you told me to stay and not get in your way. Hey, don't touch the cat!" You shout at one of the thugs when his foot nearly steps on the poor feline's tail. But the man sneers and stomps it. The kitty's wail is enough to make your blood boil.
He's fucked.
"Back off!" Marc is still recovering from that kick when he sees you approaching. "Are you deaf?"
"Are you deaf?" You question the thug, but before he can reply or act, you grab a metal bin lid and smack him across the face with it.
Marc, the recently-hit man and his two friends all stop moving, absolutely baffled at your audacity.
"Well? Answer, fuckface!" You smack him again, this time in the abdomen. "What did that cat do to you, huh?" Another smack to his head. "Oh, buddy, you really pissed me off." A knee to the stomach and the man wants to retaliate, but that hit to his head made him dizzy. He shifts his weight from one leg to another but you don't let him regain his balance.
"God, stop-" The man cries out before you land a final lid to his face and he falls to the ground, foetal position.
"That's what I thought, motherfucker!" You proceed to frantically kick him everywhere you can â shoulders, nose, abdomen, knees. "Fuckin' goofy-looking piece of shit!" Kick. "Burn." Kick. "In." Kick. "Hell." Kick.
"Alright, that's enough-" Marc cannot fathom where you gathered the strength to inflict so much damage. But you're not done yet.
"You think hurting cats is fun?" You stomp on his hand. "Bet that cat has the time of its life watching you now." Stomp. "You stale piece of cheese!" Stomp. It's safe to say his own mother won't recognise him in the morning. "Alright, who's next?" You turn towards Marc and the two thugs but both of them are on their knees.
"Arrest us, please!"
*
"That was fun, partner!" You sing-song with a cheery voice.
"Fun? Fun?? That was anything BUT fun! It was stupid, reckless and absolutely bat-shit crazy!" Marc paces through the flat, fingers rubbing his temples.
"Don't get your panties in a twist, Nut Knight." You stuff your face with Doritos. "I think-" munch "I did-" munch "a damn well job-" munch "if I do say so myself."
His lips are pursed, he opens his mouth to talk, but the words don't come out. Instead, his usually straight back is now slightly hunched, his scowl is gone, replaced by raised brows and wide eyes and the very familiar warmth in his brown irises.
"You... did you really beat a man to a pulp because he hurt a cat?" The British accent takes the place of the American one, the rage instantly turned into confusion. Steven knew this side of you better than Marc, but he didn't think you'd go that far.
"B-but, it was a stray cat! It was starving and cold!" You pout, Dorito dust covering your fingers and chin and it melts his heart. "I'm not sorry."
"I'm not scolding you." The corners of his lips turn upwards slightly. "But you really are like a canopic jar."
"Pretty on the outside, rotten on the inside?" You scrunch your nose, reminded of the stench.
"Fragile on the outside, but bloody killer on the inside. That is, if we're talking about 2.000 year old canopic jars."
"Potayto, potahto." You roll your eyes, preoccupied with your snack.
Yeah, Steven adores you, and it's good to know you can protect him in case Marc can't, because if you almost killed a guy for a cat, you'd slaughter hundreds and walk on their corpses for Steven.
And Marc loathes you less. For now.

Reactions to a vampire courier? Companions plus Benny, Ulysses, Graham, House, Caesar, and Yes Man. (sorry if that's too many :x)
TW: Blood (maybe obviously)
Also I don't normally feel some type of way about AUs but the idea of Joshua Graham encountering a vampire courier is giving me shivers
The courier was a little... strange. Not in any way that stood out to the average wastelander just by looking at them, everyone in the Mojave had their quirks and the courier was no exception. Hell, you get shot in the head and come back, you're bound to have a screw or two loose. They were unquestionably a night owl, but so were half the people on the Strip, who only started to wake up after the sun had gone down and the slot machines were singing their loudest. They usually had bags under their bloodshot eyes, but every caravan driver from here to the Hub was short on sleep.
On the other hand, the courier had some habits that were a little beyond surface-level eccentricities. For one, no one had ever seen them eating, not once. Even when the King laid out a spread of pre-war snacks and liquor or when the buffet at the Tops was refreshed, they politely declined and took a swig from the canteen that they never offered to anyone else. They were also rather odd about bathrooms, insisting that anyone accompanying them remain outside on watch and let no one else through the door until they were finished. But the undeniable moment of oddity came one night in October, when their companion rounded a corner in Freeside after a trip to the Atomic Wrangler and discovered the courier behind a rusted dumpster, holding a man against a brick wall with their teeth buried in his neck.
The courier drew back at the interruption, blood smeared across their face. "I'm not- it's not what- he- oh, fuck."
Arcade Gannon: Arcade stared open-mouthed for a moment, before snapping violently back into the present. "Is he dead?"
"Umm..." The courier glanced at the man they were holding, whose head was lolling against the bricks. "Yes? Mostly."
With no patient to resuscitate, Arcade rounded on them. "Six, what in the ever-loving fuck are you doing?"
The courier tried to wipe away the blood that was dribbling from their chin, but they only succeeded in spreading it up their jawline. "Well, I, um, I was trying to..."
Whatever excuse they were searching for eluded them, so they dropped the pretense. "I was feeding, Arcade."
"Feeding? What, like some kind of-" Arcade's eyes widened and he cut his sentence off early in realization. "No. No way. That's not- vampires aren't real!"
That earned him a look of intense skepticism. "Arcade, we've fought off plant monsters and rattlesnake-coyote hybrids together. I have a gun in my pack that lets me teleport."
"Oh, okay, so you have some kind of iron deficiency and you're delusional." Arcade laughed, the sound high and harsh in the quiet alley. "Great. Fuck."
Craig Boone: Rather than engage in an abandoned alley, Boone immediately backtracked to a busier street. He was unsurprised when the courier didn't follow him: Even in Freeside, someone covered in blood was sure to be noticed and questioned.
Boone left town that night and made for Novac. He was pretty sure the courier would follow him, but he didn't know where else to go. At least he knew they were coming. A few people in Novac asked about where he'd been, what the courier was up to, but eventually they stopped asking.
A couple of weeks went by. Boone was on the night shift again when the door into the dinosaur swung open to reveal the courier. He'd heard someone coming, their feet on the stairs, and he already had his gun pointed in their face. "We will never work together again," he said, before they could open their mouth.
"Boone, can you just-"
"I don't want an explanation." Boone shook his head. "I don't need one. I already did you a favor, leaving New Vegas without putting you back in your grave. This is over."
The courier took a deep breath. "71."
"What?"
"71. I've killed 71 Legion soldiers and left their bodies empty under the Mojave sky." They looked down and shuffled their feet. "I've tasted their fear. They're more scared of me than the Burned Man, now."
Boone studied them. Ever so slowly, he lowered his gun.
Lily Bowen: "Put him down, dearie," Lily chastised them. "You're playing too roughly with that man. And watch your language around your grandma!"
The courier looked down at their victim, at their torn throat and limp limbs. "He tried to mug me, Lily. It wasn't pretty."
"He looks like he's had enough," Lily insisted. "Set him down. Gently."
With a sigh, the courier obliged and lowered the man to the ground. "I'm sorry, Lily. I should have told you earlier. I don't mean to be rude when I turn down your cooking, I just... I can't seem to..."
"Hush, now." Lily produced her enormous handkerchief and gathered the courier up in her arms, dabbing at the blood on their face with a corner of the cloth. "You've gotten it all over yourself, haven't you? We can clean that right up, but it looks like Grandma's going to have to do a load of laundry. You made the mess, so you get to help."
Raul Alfonso Tejada: Raul swallowed nervously, something he'd noticed he was increasingly doing around the courier. "You know, we get murciélagos down in Arizona that do the same thing. They won't leave the brahmin alone."
The courier took in his anxious stance and sighed. "Raul, I'm not going to hurt you. Prometo. It's okay."
"Sure boss, but I don't think the hair on the back of my neck is going down anytime soon." Raul smiled, but it was more of a grimace. "Or it wouldn't, if I still had any. Como..?"
"No clue." The courier shrugged and held their hands up, letting the corpse they'd been holding slide to the ground. "I think it had something to do with me surviving Benny's best attempts to do me in, but a bullet is a bullet and I don't remember if I was like this before, or..."
"Or only after." Raul chuckled. "Jesucristo, and here I am thinking I'll outlive you like most everyone else I've known."
"Yep."
"Should I start calling you el chupacabra?"
The courier grinned, a bloody smile with sharp teeth.
Rose of Sharon Cassidy: "Fuck," Cass echoed, scrambling to pull her shotgun from its holster. "Knew I had too much, can't even- who are you and what've you done with the courier? Some kind of cannibal, wearing their skin? Alien? Shapeshifter? I'll blow a hole in your liver to match mine!"
"Whoa, Cass, it's me, it's me!" The courier dropped the man they were holding and held their blood-stained hands up. "Same old Six, just... maybe I wasn't straight with you about why I don't order anything at bars."
"Goddamn right you weren't straight with me!" Cass gestured at the body on the ground with the barrel of her gun. "Who's the fucker on the floor and why are you two pints in on him?"
"Just trying to get my drink on," the courier muttered.
Cass repaid this facetiousness with a jab of her shotgun, and they raised their hands higher. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry! You tell me, how do you tactfully tell someone that you're a creature of the night and you need to drink blood to survive?"
"Creature of the night? You're fucking loopy." Cass' eyes narrowed. "There's plenty of critters in the Mojave that only come out when it's dark, but most of them don't tear into..."
She trailed off into curses when she realized she was wrong. The courier smiled hesitantly and lowered their hands an inch. "Hey. Let me chuck this failed mugger in the dumpster and we can talk about it like a pair of civilized folks?"
Veronica Santangelo: Veronica squeaked and fell back a few steps, banging her elbow against the edge of the dumpster. A jolt of confused pain shot up her arm, and the Scribe couldn't help giggling harshly at the sudden assault on her funny bone.
"Not- laughing... at murder," she managed to get out between hisses of pain. "Oh, for the love of... right, you're not getting out of explaining what you are, exactly, just because I'm indis-indisposed!"
The courier couldn't help laughing at the squirming Scribe, but they did their best to stifle it. "Sorry, I'm sorry, I um... I guess I don't really know... what I am?"
"There's books!" Veronica burst out, pointing at the courier and their victim wildly. "I've seen them, in old libraries. Creatures that feed on blood, only come out at night, don't show up in... in mirrors, of course, no wonder you're weird about bathrooms, I should test... Dracula! That's it, you're a Dracula!"
"A Dracula?" The courier held their hands up, as if seeing them anew. "Never heard of them. Are they... bad?"
"Well, traditionally, yes." Veronica made a face and rubbed her elbow. "Black cloaks, sleeping in coffins, seducing and manipulating everyone around them... and people don't like it when you take their blood, in my experience."
"Whose blood have you taken?"
"This isn't about me, Six!"
ED-E: The eyebot bobbed wildly and made noises of concern, blips and blats and a flat burst of trumpets from some old jazz tune.
"I was hungry," the courier protested. "And this asshole pulled a knife on me and wanted all of my caps. Probably more than that, if we're being honest. He wasn't doing the world any good, but he did me some, for sure."
ED-E flipped between old clips of a Silver Shroud radio show. "Well, isn't this a deep, dark <static> secret? <static> In a situation such as this, the best anyone can do is <static> try to control it!" The robot added some more concerned beeps for good measure.
"I'm trying," the courier said with a sigh, looking down at the dead man they were holding. "You know I wouldn't hurt some random person, ED-E. Not if I could help it. The Mojave's full of bad people, enough to keep me going if I'm careful."
Rex: The hair on Rex's spine stood up, and he let out a long, low growl. The courier froze for a moment, before realizing that he was growling not at them but at the man they were holding.
"He's dead, Rex," they reassured the cyberdog, lowering the corpse to the floor for inspection.
Rex sniffed the body over, taking in the copper scent of his blood and the Freeside stink on his clothes. He sniffed the courier too, each of their hands they held out to him and the thick headiness of adrenaline. He whined and wagged his tail twice.
"Good boy," the courier said, straightening up. "It's about time I turned in, anyway. Let's dump this guy and split."
Benny Gecko: Benny crossed his arms. "You know, Six, if you're dead set on getting your kicks in Freeside every now and then, you might want to ease up on the passions with the next greaser you snag. This one's torn all to pieces."
"I wasn't- what kind of-" The courier dropped the man they were holding and sputtered. "Christ, only you could make a midnight murder awkward, Benny."
"Murder?" Benny raised his eyebrows and looked from side to side theatrically. "Who said anything about a murder? All I saw was some dreamboat and the best apple butterer of New Vegas playing back alley bingo, officer."
The courier's eyes narrowed. "Not gonna rat me out? Tell the King or somebody that I'm..."
"What, taking a page out of the White Glove Society's book?" Benny held his hands up. "None of my business. Well, if you ever come for me with that look in your eyes, though, that'll be a different story."
"Not much you'd be able to do," the courier pointed out. "You already tried and failed to kill me once."
Ulysses: Rather than react like any normal wastelander might've upon encountering someone attacking a man with their teeth, Ulysses just stood there, taking the scene in. "Heard tales of a tribe like you. East, farther east than even I've walked... a coven hiding in tunnels, emerging only when their hungers grow too strong to ignore, strong enough to pull blood from the veins of the world around them."
"Well, I don't hide in tunnels." The courier grimaced and heaved their victim up over their shoulder, depositing them unceremoniously in the dumpster. "Unless some disgruntled Frumentarius sends me out to hunt mutants under Hopeville."
"Perhaps you have more in common with those predators than I assumed," Ulysses admitted. "But then, your path has always run red. Blood of the Old World, blood of the new, blood of the Bull and the Bear..."
The courier rolled their eyes as they peeled off their red-stained coat and tossed it in the dumpster as well. "Don't talk to me about blood. I know you've seen just as much as me, but it doesn't mean the same thing when I look at it."
Ulysses cracked a hint of a smile. "You see life where I see death. Two sides, courier."
"Yeah, yeah. If you're not going to try to kill me, come on. You can wax poetic and lecture me about which road I'm walking while I take a shower."
Joshua Graham: "A creature far from God," Graham said in his most reproachful tone. "Forever damned for the souls of the innocent they've taken from the earth. Aren't we a pair, courier."
"You can fuck right off with that attitude." The courier dropped the man they were holding and wiped their hands on their coat. "He tried to kill me first. For some caps."
"The crimes of others do not absolve you of your own sins, courier," Graham continued, leisurely retrieving his gun from its holster. He held it up in the muted neon light that filtered through the alley, turning the weapon this way and that. "Though I confess I am also looking for absolution in this way."
"Are you going to kill me?" the courier asked, eyeing the gun as well.
"I've no doubt it would leave this world better than when you walked it," Graham replied. "But my own opinions are not enough to seal your fate. Perhaps we should find this man's family and hear their feelings on the matter."
The courier took a step forward, then another, until their chest was right up against the pistol's muzzle, pressed against the fabric of their shirt. "Go ahead. Try."
And though Joshua Graham was sorely tempted to pull the trigger, though the courier made no move to stop him, something in their eyes... some faraway pain, older than the desert itself, fresh as the blood on the ground, stayed his hand.
He lowered the gun, chastised, and the courier walked away.
Robert House: The Securitron that bore Robert House's face on its screen leveled a minigun at the courier. "Whoa!" the courier protested, dropping their victim and putting their hands out. "Can't we talk about this?"
"And what have we to discuss?" House sounded absolutely disgusted. "I believe you're familiar with my contract with the White Glove Society. If they wish to continue their current prosperity in New Vegas, cannibalism is strictly forbidden. You are subject to the same terms and conditions, as one of my employees."
"Terms and condi- hold on, hold on, you never asked me whether I was a cannibal," the courier replied. "Are you talking about that document you had me sign, way back when I agreed to help you fight the NCR and the Legion?"
"The very same."
"How is that fair? That thing was over 200 pages long, I didn't grow up in the 21st century, I don't have a degree in... okay, okay." The courier waved their hands. "Cannibalism is a no-go. This isn't cannibalism, this is vampirism."
"Which falls under the definition of cannibalism," House replied, his annoyed tone still detectable over the sound of the minigun spinning up. "Section 3.65, subsection F. Next time, read the fine print."
Caesar: The Legion's great leader pivoted in an instant from surprise to quiet anger. "Clean yourself up, courier. I expect to see you in my quarters within the hour."
He turned and left the alley swiftly, letting his powerful stride and swinging cloak cover his shaken confidence. The people of Freeside cowered as he passed, shrinking into the shadows as he made his way back to the Strip, but the fear in their eyes was not enough to erase the image of the courier bent over in bloodlust, holding their victim in total subjugation.
The courier found him on the top floor of the Lucky 38, gazing out over the city he had conquered and named his Rome. "Leave us," Caesar bid his Praetorian Guard. They bowed and departed the room without question.
"You asked to see me," the courier said nervously, shifting their weight from foot to foot. They had changed clothes, and no trace of blood remained on them.
"I did." Caesar beckoned them to the window next to him. They stood in silence for a moment, watching the lights wink below.
"I'm a well-read man, courier," Caesar said finally. "I know the legends of the Old World, and I recognize the marks of one of their nightmares in you. I order you to tell me the truth: Do you fit the full definition of the creature they called 'vampire,' or do you simply mimic the things to add to your fearsome affect?"
The courier didn't answer right away. When they did, their voice was soft. "I pretend to be nothing. I am what I am."
"And everything that comes with it?" Caesar pressed. "Darkness, the blood of the innocent, eternity?"
"Yes."
Caesar turned to face them fully. "Then I, Almighty Caesar, command you to make me as you are."
Yes Man: "Now that's a twist I didn't see coming!" Yes Man said, his happy tone only slightly tempered with uncertainty. "Boy, am I glad I don't have a circulatory system right now!"
The courier shushed the Securitron and looked around the alley surreptitiously. "Yes Man, I swear to god, if you blow my cover I'm disassembling you."
"As I've told you before, I can't technically die!" Yes Man reassured them. "And I certainly wouldn't want to endanger you and your hobbies, but my volume mixer is tied to my enthusiasm simulator and I can't adjust it! You'll just have to hope any passersby aren't interested in following my friendly voice into an alley!"
"Then go back to the Lucky 38 and we'll talk later," the courier insisted, through gritted teeth.
"I technically never left! But if you mean this Securitron, sure thing!" Yes Man zoomed away on his single wheel, whistling the whole way back to the casino where the rest of his consciousness was housed. He kept whistling as he ran probability algorithms, only pausing when the courier returned after a few hours and crossed their arms in front of his main screen.
"Hi there!" he said joyfully. "I've just been cross-checking Mr. House's records on noteworthy disappearances in the Strip, and I've flagged eight of them as potentially being connected to you! I don't want to assume your intentions, but if you don't want to be found out, I've developed a plan for choosing your next victims that will help you remain undetected in New Vegas for 184 years! Give or take a few!"
The courier put their head in their hand and sighed.

Another Star Wars AU, TBN*
*To-Be-Named
I love time travel. A lot. So here is a time-travel au, with the CW trio.
Somehow, perhaps by touching a Sith artifact, perhaps by the Force deciding they should, perhaps from some sort of weird ritual the locals were performing that the trio didn't know about, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Anakin, Rex, and Cody travel aback in time.
[Please keep in mind that Canon Timeline has died tragically in a fire, and I am but the weeping widow with an inheritance.]
Due to whatever happened, they all also end up (technically) deaging. They still have their memories and their knowledge and skills, just stuck in smaller bodies. They can think and act like adults, but they also have to struggle a bit more to implement Older Skills in Younger Bodies.
Ahsoka is 2. She's nubby. She's emotional. She's tired and sore from her deaging.
She wakes up in someone's office. She's in a spinny chair, a big one with leather padding. It's kind-of chilly in the room.
She's not thinking, because all her brain is putting together is that she's still tired. She grabs the jacket off the back of the chair and pulls it over herself. She goes back to sleep.
Rex and Cody wake up together.
They are their actual age, which is to say they're both about eleven.
They find themselves on Mandalore. In the more wild areas.
(let me believe that there are parts of the planet that aren't covered in city)
(also, this is the Mandalore in the cartoons)
They find a teen trying to wake them both up. Rex has absolutely no clue what's going on. Cody has a vague idea, because this girl looks very similar to a picture he once saw...
Obi-Wan does not fare as well. He is 3.
He wakes up in someone's arms. He's just as tired and sore as the other three. However, he's also got more awareness because he's in someone's arms.
He looks up to see who's carrying him.
He looks around at the people walking with them.
He starts crying. He cannot help this, as he is suddenly flooded with Emotions, and he is Smol. Smol = harder to handle Emotions.
Because Qui-Gon is walking right next to him, tapping away on a holopad as they go. Dooku is on his other side, on a comm call where both parties sound very tired.
And Obi-Wan is being held... by Obi-Wan.
So, yeah, not that great for a suddenly Smol Obi.
Now, Anakin is 8, so he's better off in that perspective.
But he wakes up on some remote planet without anyone around. He just was in the middle of a group, so he ends up kinda panicking.
Then he hears something coming towards him, and he panics more.
He's Tiny! He's Smol! He's massively at a disadvantage against attacks! He can't fight off whatever is on a planet like this!
It's Mace (and Depa).
Anakin, however, doesn't realize this. He has gone Feral.
Back to the beginning
Jango Fett has been very busy w/Important Mand'alor Paperwork all day. He finally has time to go and relax a little, and he makes it all the way down to the exit before he realizes:
It is really cold outside. He is not in armor bc he was planning to only do paperwork today (though he still has many weapons). When one plans to stay in the same room for almost the entire day, one does not wear normal garb.
That said, he has no protection from the cold. He forgot his jacket upstairs. He rushes back up to his office.
He distinctly remembers that he left the jacket on the back of his chair, not on the seat.
He also is wondering what that lump is.
He arms himself, grabs some of his "emergency" armor plating, and walks over to the chair.
He lifts his jacket up, expecting a bomb or some paperwork that fell off the desk, or something logical.
He does not expect to find a tiny Togruta child clinging onto the fabric, whining as they're woken up by his yanking of the jacket.
Jango's brain stutters for a moment, then he kicks into action.
First things first, he wraps the jacket around the Togruta. They thankfully stay asleep. Then he turns up the heat, because he knows the office has gotten colder in the twenty minutes or so he's been gone, and Togruta are from warm temperate zones.
He decides to call, in this order, a guard who can help him watch the Togruta (they did break in, after all), a medic to check the Togrutaâs health, and the first person he can find in his contacts that might know an adult Togruta.
Next group
Rex and Cody manage to get the teen to stop fussing over them for long enough to ask for her name.
Her, clearly lying, but thatâs understandable: My name is Ine.
Cody, who knows exactly who this is now: Oh, kriff. Youâre Duchess Satine, arenât you? Kriff.
Rex: Wait, Satine? As in the Generalâs Satine?
Satine, now very suspicious and reaching for her stunner: I think you need proper medical attention.
Cody, looking down at their eleven-year-old selves: Yeah, I think so, too.
They agree on one thing, at least.
Next
Obi-Wan is crying. Loudly, uncontrollably, w/too many Emotions to even care that heâs supposed to be an adult rn.
Other Obi-Wan is very uncomfortable, bc he doesnât know how to handle children too well.
They found this kid unconscious in the middle of a ruined, abandoned town.
Obi-Wan was meant to hold this kid while Qui-Gon did research and Master Dooku tried to convince the Council that it was entirely necessary to bring the kid back to Coruscant. Granted, they can still give the child to the locals at any time before they make it back to their ship, but apparently the Force is Being Loud.
The Force was Being Loud when it told Master Dooku to come along.
The Force was Being Loud when it led them to that town.
Qui-Gon and Dooku have argued fifteen and a half times on this mission, and an additional six times on the flight here. Obi-Wan is trying to mediate but also doesnât want to overstep. The Force is Being Loud, sure, but the kid is also Force-sensitive so it might be something off that.
He didnât argue with holding the kid bc he thought that it was better than being caught between the Masters.
Holding a crying child and trying to get two adults to stop arguing bc they canât decide how to comfort the kid is not better.
Obi-Wan keeps walking past them to the ship with this baby. He does what heâs seen some crechemasters do to the younglings. The kid eventually calms a little, and he belatedly realizes that both Masters are still behind him, not with him.
NEXT
Anakin is panakin.
He is currently in a state of Feralness. His instincts have kicked into overdrive, full-on Survival Mode.
Depa and Mace do not know this. All they know is that there was suddenly an extremely powerful Force presence that started fading quickly (bc Anakin started shielding).
They burst into sight of Anakin and are suddenly attacked by all four feet and some of Feral Force Child.
Itâs all they can do for a good minute or so to avoid losing their fingers, eyes, or untorn clothes.
Mace puts a few things together very quickly.
This planet is uninhabited by any sapient life. Therefore, this child is utterly alone. This child also is clearly strong in the Force, and knows how to hide their presence, for whatever reasons. Mace is a Jedi, and therefore is bound by certain duties.
He decides it is his Duty to get this kid back to Coruscant safely.
Back to the beginning
Ahsoka wakes up to find a familiar face looking down at her. Sheâs still tired, but not as much. Sheâs very aware of her size, and does a few quick observations.
She does not fully know who Jango Fett is. She does know that some clones run off bc they hate war and werenât given a choice an- no. Not going down that path yet.
Ahsoka assumes, semi-incorrectly, that she was shrunk or deaged and somehow found by a rogue clone.
She knows itâs a rogue clone bc theyâve got weird armor.
So she does the logical thing and tries to comfort this clone bc he looks really worried and kinda panicked. She stands up on the spinny chair and tries to balance and he practically lunges to help her and she canât help but giggle, but it comes out in a bunch of chirps instead.
The clone picks her up and looks really awkward so she pats his face bc thatâs the best she can do bc she doesnât want to disprove the fact sheâs two yet.
For all she knows, this rogue clone has no idea sheâs actually a Commander in the GAR.
He doesnât, but for different reasons than she thinks.
NEXT
Rex and Cody go with Satine to the city. They have introduced themselves and said that they were separated from their aliit. They don't know where said aliit is.
Satine is highly suspicious by this point, bc these two kids recognized her with only part of her name, and they were alone, and they speak Basic with Mando'a thrown in.
Basically, she thinks that they're children of people like Death Watch, but she's too young to know that Death Watch isn't really into children.
Rex and Cody get checked over by a medic, but also start trying to get access to some working comms. They are refused on account of being suspicious children (which makes them a little upset bc they're not children)(Well, they are, but not those types of children)
They have not yet figured out that they are in the past, bc Cody and Rex only know that General Kenobi talks about Duchess Satine, and they know about Padme Amidala from General Skywalker, so clearly this Duchess is really young and the General simply viewed her as someone he wants to protect.
They are very very very wrong.
NEXT
Obi-Wan manages to calm himself somewhat now that it's just him and... him.
He is three, and he knows roughly what's happening, so he knows he should probably act like a 3yo.
Unfortunately, he has very little understanding of how child ages work. 3 is smart enough to go up the stairs and communicate with adults, but def. not old enough to speak sentences that are 15 words long with at least 2 5-syllable words.
Fortunately, his older (younger?) self doesn't know children either.
So when this 3yo starts telling him that he needs to leave the two Masters on the planet and head to Tatooine really fast, Obi-Wan is more concerned about the idea than the strangeness of "this is a 3yo suggesting this".
Obi-Wan is really good at convincing people. Including himself. He manages to get Padawan Kenobi to leave supplies where the ship is supposed to be and head towards Tatooine.
He says that the Masters will be fine, they know how to survive, and they need to be alone together in order to work through all the tension. Plus, it gives them plenty of time to talk to the Council.
Toddler Kenobi also tells himself that he'll take the blow and say he used a mind-trick.
Padawan Kenobi doesn't believe him yet, but Toddler Kenobi smiles like a very smug adult and says "you'll get there eventually". What he truly means is up in the air.
NEXT
Anakin, since waking up, knows much less than everyone else. Which is saying something.
He knows he's Smol. He knows he's Alone. He knows Someone has come and they are Strangers.
One thing about Anakin's instincts is that they are very much Survival Based. He was Feral when he joined the Jedi, only he had to hold those instincts back for most of his life bc of being a slave.
A slave cannot bite someone who approaches and Vibes Wrong.
By the time he felt okay with being Feral Out Loud, he also felt safe enough that he didn't need to activate his Survival Mode.
What I'm trying to say is that Anakin does not realize how strong his Feral Instincts are. He has absolutely no control over them rn.
When Mace decides to Help this child, this child is trying to Maul them.
Mace makes a small ruckus to draw Anakin's attention to him so Depa can move back. Depa pulls out her saber now that she won't hit the kid. The kid notices Purple and Bright and Lightsaber.
Lorge Jedi Mind says this is Good. Safe. Jedi.
Smol Feral Brain says this is Dangerous. Mean.
Anakin freezes on sight and just starts tracking Depa's saber. She does one of those things where a snake or something is focused and the person waves the fire or the food slowly to make sure the wolf is watching it and usually they toss the thing away so the snake follows it.
Mace instead takes this opportunity to wrap Anakin in his cloak. And Depa's cloak. And the spare ones in their bags.
Feral Child is not happy with this. Feral Child is also unable to scratch or Maul or do things other than bite and snarl.
Depa carries Feral Child while Mace comms the Temple and they walk back to their ship.
The Temple is having a field day.
First, one of their Shadows reports that a well-known bounty hunter got an emergency message from a pal of theirs that said Jango Fett needs help learning Togruta childcare.
Then they get a call from Dooku, which is not the mission report they wanted.
Yoda: Mission report, you have?
Dooku: Of a sort. We successfully spoke with the locals, then went to investigate a rather large disturbance.
Mundi: A disturbance?
Dooku: We found the source to be a Force-sensitive child.
Mundi: So you are here to ask for more time on the planet?
Dooku:...
Yoda: Bring the child back, you wish to?
Dooku, unapologetic: He is of an acceptable age to be admitted into the Temple, and no other beings were around at the time to entertain the idea of there being guardians.
The Council is sighing and muttering bc this is a Disaster Lineage (and they haven't even met the other two yet). Their call is interrupted by the sound of crying and Dooku saying the child's woken up.
Then there's another Shadow who sends a message saying a set of twins that seem like Death Watch were found by the heir of Clan Kryze.
Finally, to top everything off, they get a call from Mace Windu and Depa Billaba. Two very dignified, not-at-all chaotic Jedi from a perfectly respectable lineage.
Yeah, most of the Council and the Order itself forgets that Yoda had a hand in raising Windu. Yoda "Feral Grandpa" who throws children at every problem. Grandson isn't doing too well? Throw a child his way. Other grandchild is struggling to cope with grief? Throw another child their way. Oh, there's a war going on and newest grandchild is angry a lot? Here's a child!
The entire lineage has a soft spot for children.
Anyways...
Mace: Our mission was a success. We found the artifact and both specimens.
Koth: How long until your return?
Mace:...
Yoda: Found a child, you did?
Gallia: Master Yoda, that's a rather illogical guess. Once is unusual, twice is-
Mace: Oh, did Qui-Gon find a child as well?
Yoda, smugly: Bringing the child back, are you?
Depa, from the background, after a rather loud snarl is heard: We do not bite things, young one.
*more snarling*
Mace: We have no reason to believe he was not alone.
Tiin: *deep sighing*
Mundi: *mild confusion noises*
Koon, eagerly: Please send photos of this youngling. For the archives, of course.
Mace, nodding sagely: Of course.
*extremely loud yowl* *sounds of Mace turning*
Mace: DEPA!
Depa: He nearly bit off my finger!
Mace: That doesnât mean you pinch him!
Depa: What else am I supposed to do?!
*sudden exclamation filled solely of Mandoâa, Huttese and Twiâleki curses*
Mace: So, I donât know if he speaks Basic, but Master Che should be able to talk him through a check-up.
Yeah, several Council members are experiencing headaches now. Normally, they would have some empathy for Mace and his own stress-induced migraines. They currently do not.
Right after that call, Dooku calls back to say that Obi-Wan has left without them.
Mundi: He left the child with you, right?
Dooku:
Mundi: He left the child with you, right?
Obi-Wan did not leave himself with the Masters. Obi-Wan has listened to Mini-Obi and is off on some wild space adventure to a criminal-run planet.
The toddler wonât stop staring at him. He asks for a name. The kid says to call him Ben.
OW: Is that your name?
âBenâ: It is a name I am called :)
OW: That isnât what I meant.
âBenâ: I know :)
Ben also keeps staring at OWâs lightsaber. OW decides to make sure the kid doesnât start playing with it when he isnât looking.
MEANWHILE
Ahsoka has figured out that she was really very oh-so wrong. Sheâs on Mandalore. As in, the Mandalore that is under Jango Fett. Bc sheâs with Jango Fett. Heâs holding her hand bc she was nervous about the strange looking medic (who was just wearing armor, but not clone armor and civies donât wear armor.)
Ahsoka knows very little about Jango Fett. Clone Buir, Mandalorian leader, tried to kill Master Kenobi. Also dead.
He asks how she got in. She shrugs. She is too small to fight back so she canât let him know anything. Whatever everything is right now. But also, he doesnât seem mean or evil or anything.
Oh yeah. Skyguy said that Mandos love children. That's why the clones were so protective of her, even with Skyguy on her side of the argument.
She decides to use this to her advantage. She can probably get herself a comm, and enough time to call the Temple. If she can convince them she at least knows a Jedi, then they can come get her and she'll work from there.
ELSEWHERE
Rex and Cody are getting really upset. This Duchess is really nice, but she's acting really weird and keeps insisting she's not actually called Duchess. No one will give them a comm, they keep getting weird looks for speaking Mando'a even though they're on Mandalore, and Satine's father keeps mentioning a Fett. Maybe Boba's set a bad example again.
Rex starts to fall asleep, to his chagrin. He's too bored, sitting and getting some abnormally extensive check-up. Cody is fine, but he's used to the calm that is General Kenobi. Rex usually has a Togruta teen in the vents and a Human that is never where he's supposed to be.
Rex does, in fact, fall asleep. His "twin" starts glaring when a doctor goes to wake him up. Cody makes it clear that his brother is like Cat: once asleep, you do not wake.
Satine is giggling, but trying not to let the others hear. Cody does. Cody looks at her. They have a stare-off.
Cody goes back to glaring at the doctors. He will not admit to any emotions besides Protectâą.

MC is Half Demon and They Look Awfully Familiar Lesson 16
Masterlist
Previous part
Itâs finally here! The long awaited Lesson 16! Please enjoy, my lovelies!
MC had gone back in time, they didnât think their year as an exchange student would end up like this, but yet, there they were. They sprinted up the stairs to the attic and burst through the door.
Their heart was in their throat as they made their way down the hallway and peaked through the door.
âMC?â
Belphegor, safe and sound, got up from the bed and rubbed his eyes. âWhat are you doing? Whatâs wrong?â
âA lot of stuff⊠umâŠâ MC tapped their foot and shifted anxiously. âIâm going to get you out of here, okay?â
âRight now?â
âRight now.â
MC slammed their palm into the door and slowly wrapped their fingers around the bars as they felt the remnants of Luciferâs spell coil its way up their arm. The spell had weakened with time, and Lucifer must have neglected to reinforce it.
They gritted their teeth and countered with their own magic, but MC could feel their strength being drained. Their vision blurred ever so slightly as something else countered Luciferâs magic. It was warm and calming, as if someone had pressed a kiss to MCâs forehead and told them everything was going to be okay.
The door let out a metallic screech as it wrestled against the spell, begging to be opened. Until finally, blue sparks erupted from the door and slowly fizzled out. The door slowly creaked open as the warm energy faded.
Belphie took a tentative step forward, when met with no resistance, he stepped into the hallway. Free at last.
MC stood in silence, fatigue washing over them. That was⊠exhausting.
âYou did it.â Belphie beamed at MC, who looked up and returned the smile.
âI⊠I did!â MC squeaked, looking at the broken attic door in wonder.
Belphie laughed at their starry eyed expression and held out his arms for a hug. âNice job, MC.â
MC threw themselves into his arms and let out a laugh of pure joy at their achievement. They had broken a spell put down by their father. They had done it! All by themselves! He was going to be so proud of them! Well, after Belphie and him made up of course.
âYou know,â Belphie whispered as he wrapped his arms around MC. âI wonder how long itâs beenâŠâ
âHm?â MC felt Belphie shift slightly in their arms, a new material rested against their face. MC opened their eyes and looked up.
âHow many thousands of years itâs been since Iâve held something so human in my arms.â
Belphegor was in his demon form, curved horns jutting out of the side of his head, a tail lazily swishing behind him. He smiled as he looked down at MC.
âWhat are you-â
MC was cut off by a hand wrapping around their throat as they were yanked upwards. They let out a scream as they immediately shifted into their own demon form, their wings flapping, desperately trying to push Belphegor back.
MCâs hands clawed at the hand wrapped around their neck and slammed their feet into his chest. Their escape attempts were put to a halt as Belphegor slammed MC into the hallway wall, painfully pinning MCâs frantically flapping wings.
Their vision swam as the base of their skull connected with the wall, their ears rang and tears began to prick at the corners of their eyes. Thinking fast, MC tried to sink their rapidly sharpening teeth into Belphegorâs arm but his grip on their neck was holding their head straight.
They were going to die-
They were going to die-
They didnât want to die-
They couldnât just die like this!
ââ
Belphegor almost rolled his eyes as he watched MC panic and thrash. He could feel their pulse race beneath his fingers.
A demonâs life or death adrenaline kicking in was no joke, Belphegor knew that. But this kid- this little brat wasnât even a full demon.
Belphieâs face contorted into a scowl as he let his magic seep through his hands, he soon felt MCâs pulse slow and clarity return to their vision.
ââ
MCâs kicks and scratches slowed and black spots danced across their vision as their gaze settled on Belphegor.
Every ounce of energy that MC could have mustered was sapped out of them, every single breath they managed to choke out took a massive amount of effort.
âThere we go,â Belphegor smiled, his head lolling to the side. âWas that so hard, MC?â
MC let out a low growl, then a whimper when the grip on their throat tightened.
âNow now,â Belphegor sighed. âYouâre in no position to get snappy with me, are you?â
MC didnât respond.
âYou know, half breed? If youâre tricked by a demon, you truly have your own stupidity and naivety to blame.â Belphegor continued. âYou wouldnât understand that, would you? Youâre half human. Humans are notoriously easy to trick.â
MC gripped the hand holding their neck even tighter, digging their nails into his wrist.
âItâs pathetic, thatâs what it is. Are you even Luciferâs child? Your wings say so, but your ability to fight back leaves something to be desired.â
The insult caused MC to slam their foot into Belphegorâs ribcage, he grimaced, but his grip held firm.
âItâs just so ridiculously pitiful, MC.â Belphie said. âAny real demon would be able to fight back from this easy peasy.â
Belphegor snickered and used his free hand to rub the remaining sleep from his eyes. He was barely half awake and MC was still completely at his mercy.
âSo sad⊠sad indeed.â
âWh-why?â MC barely managed to whisper, Belphie rolled his eyes.
âI swear, does anyone in this house tell you anything?â Belphie sneered. âI. Hate. Humans. Simple as that. And look at you, the half human kid of the brother that locked me up here, youâll have to forgive me for being a little upset, MC.â
âLetâs see now,â Belphegor cooed, bringing his face slightly closer. âDoes your pride match up to your dear dadâs? Are you willing to beg for your life? If you do it well enough, I might be tempted to let you live.â
The grip around their neck relaxed slightly, MC gasped for air, taking a few deep breaths. Belphegor raised an eyebrow.
âIâm waiting.â
The silence hung in the air, the back of MCâs head throbbed in pain as they tried to focus their gaze to Belphegorâs. Theyâd say what they were going to say next looking him in the eyes. The childâs black and red eyes slowly narrowed into an icy glare.
âDeath first.â MC snarled.
Belphegorâs hand tightened around their neck so much that MC couldnât even scream, their hands fell to their sides and their kicks slowly subsided. As their vision began to fade, they almost laughed despite themselves.
It seemed they really were their fatherâs child.
ââ
âDeath first.â
Belphegor tightened his grip and felt MCâs throat practically crumple and fall apart in his grasp.
Even when faced with death they refused to grovel. Belphegor let out a soft laugh. They really were Luciferâs child!
That look of pure disdain, that refusal to just give up and beg, all Lucifer.
They really were⊠LuciferâsâŠ
Belphie snarled and slammed MCâs unconscious form into the wall again, trying to ignore the feeling that twisted his gut.
âI hate youâŠâ he whispered.
âI hate you⊠I hate you!â Belphie repeated, not daring to look up. âI hate you I hate you I hate you!â
Belphieâs hand slowly slipped from MCâs neck and they crumpled to the floor. his arm fell limp at his side as he caught his breath.
There was no way the kid could have survived that, and yet, Belphie heard breathing. Quiet, shuddering breaths.
He dragged his eyes to look at MC. Their demon form really did look like his brotherâs. MCâs horns hadnât fully grown in yet, but they were just beginning to curve upwards, one a little more than the other. Everything from their wings to the diamond shaped mark on the centre of their forehead, was all Lucifer.
The brother that all of them had once looked up to, the brother that took care of them, the brother that declared war on everything he had known for their sister.
âŠbut MC wasnât Lucifer, were they? No. No they werenât. They werenât the human that Lilith had fallen in love with either, they werenât the reason for the war.
They were the only person that reached out to help Belphie, the person who went up to visit him, they were someone who saw him as family.
âWhat did you do?â An all too impossibly familiar voice whispered. âBelphie, what did you do?!â
He felt his throat tighten. A DDD buzzed nearby, it was lying face down a little farther down the hallway. In an almost hypnotic state, Belphegor walked over and picked it up.
Two texts greeted him.
Father: Iâll be home in five minutes.
Father: The student council meeting ran late.
The text wasnât what caught his attention, it was the picture on the lock screen. It was a picture of MC, Levi, Mammon, and Beel. MC was on Beelâs shoulders and Levi and Mammon were shoving each other around behind them. Mammon looked to be having more fun than Levi, who had just noticed his picture was being taken and looked completely terrified. Beel was eating a bag of chips and MC was in the middle of reaching into the bag to grab a handful, they were looking into the camera like they had just noticed the person taking the picture.
They were walking back from⊠something. Half of Mammonâs face was covered in RADâs school colours, and Levi was holding a few poster boards that were also in the schoolâs colours. MC was wearing one of Beelâs helmets, even though it was way too big on them.
Ah, Belphie knew what they were doing. They were heading home from one of Beelâs games.
Belphieâs eyes were glued to MC and Beel. Beel was⊠smiling. He was happy. He didnât notice his picture was being taken and he was looking slightly off-camera. One of his arms was holding one of MCâs legs in place so they wouldnât topple backwards.
Belphegor felt the DDD slip out of his hands and clatter to the floor, he walked back over to MC. They were still breathing, and Belphie blinked a few times to make sure he was seeing right. The tiny cuts from his claws had completely healed over, and the swelling around MCâs neck had slightly lessened. They were being healedâŠ
He kneeled down next to them and reached out to touch their head, he hesitated for a brief moment before letting his hand rest on their hair. A softer magic ran through his hands, MCâs breathing became less laborious and their throat slowly began to fix itself.
Belphie suppressed a yawn at the exertion, he picked MC up and carried them downstairs. They were still completely unconscious. That was good, Belphie heard that humans healed faster in their sleep anyway.
He set them down gently on one of the living room couches and walked back upstairs. Even as he lay back down in his bed, Belphie still couldnât shake the feeling of being watched.
ââ
Lucifer dragged Mammon and Levi up the stairs to the House of Lamentation by their ears, Satan, Asmo, and Beel trailing behind him.
âYou both are so lucky Lord Diavolo wasnât upset.â Lucifer growled.
Levi was in his admiralâs uniform, but it was so wrinkled and smelly that anyone could tell it had been lying at the back of his closet. Mammon was still in his school uniform and was trying to wiggle out of the ear-hold.
âC-come on Lucifer! Ya gotta understand, I canât get hung from the ceiling today, I have a modelling gig!â Mammon pleaded.
âY-yeah! Thereâs a rerun of I Canât Believe My Girlfriendâs Secretly Been Royalty-eeeeow!â Levi screeched and tried in vain to remove Luciferâs hand from his ear.
Lucifer rolled his eyes. âYou two should have thought about that before you and Levi decided it would be a good idea to get into a fight in front of Diavolo and Barbatos.â
âWhat a functional family we have.â Satan drawled.
Mammon and Leviâs pleas for mercy quieted when everyone stepped into the house, something was⊠wrong. Very very wrong.
âMC?â Lucifer called out. No reply. He let go of Mammon and Levi.
âBloodâŠâ
Lucifer turned to look at Beel, who had his nose in the air. âWhat was that, Beel?â
âSmells like blood.â
Everyone stood motionless for a few moments as what Beel said began to sink in. Mammon was the first to break the silence.
âShit, MC!â He shouted, rushing towards the dining hall.
âMC? MC come on,â Asmo sped towards the bedrooms. âIf this is some kind of joke it isnât funny!â
âM-maybe theyâre in the backyard! Iâll checkâŠâ Levi ran to the back door of the house.
Satan and Beel went in the direction of the library while Lucifer stalked towards the living room.
If MC was playing some kind of joke on him, heâd wring their neck.
He entered the living room and breathed an immediate sigh of relief upon seeing MC lying on one of the couches, sleeping soundly. They were just nappingâŠ
Luciferâs lips quirked upwards into a fond smile as he ruffled his sleeping childâs hair, then paused upon seeing the rusty substance that now coated his glove. Mostly dried blood.
âMC..?â He whispered, sitting down on the couch and pulling them towards him. âMC?â
When MC didnât respond, Luciferâs heart began to race in his chest.
No.
No.
Not again.
Not like LilithâŠ
âMC, wake up,â Lucifer said in a more commanding tone. âYouâre okay, wake up, right now!â
They didnât stir, they just lay there. Their breathing and his own thundering heartbeat was all Lucifer could hear.
A shriek from Asmodeus brought him back to reality as Lucifer slowly rocked MC back and forth, muttering the names of spells as he tried to use his magic to heal them.
âWhat happened?!â Asmo rushed forward, hands already glowing white with magic.
Lucifer couldnât give an answer nor could he look away from MC as Asmodeus ran a glowing hand along their head.
Asmo snapped his hand back towards him like something had burned him, he looked up at Lucifer with a look of pure confusion. âL-Lucifer⊠do you know whose magical signature that is..?â
âH-huh?! MC?!â Mammon, followed by Satan, Beel, and Levi rushed to MCâs side. The chorus of questions and shock were of no interest to Lucifer, he continued to cradle MC in his lap.
âLucifer!â Asmo tried to get his attention again, he growled and whipped his head around to his other brothers. âALL OF YOU, QUIET!â
Such a sharp snarl from Asmo of all demons immediately quieted them down as Asmo turned back to look at Lucifer. âItâs Belphie. Thatâs Belphieâs magical signature. Iâd bet my life on it.â
Lucifer felt his blood run cold, his grip on MC tightened as he pulled them closer to him.
âBelphie is up in the human world, Asmo!â Satan snapped. âHow the hell could he have done this?!â
âI donât know!â Asmo retorted. âBut Iâm not lying, thatâs Belphieâs magic!â
Belphegor got out of the attic.
Belphegor hurt MC.
Lucifer gently set MC back down on the couch, in a matter of seconds his true form was revealed.
âL-LuciferâŠâ Mammon whispered.
Watch them.â Lucifer growled. He turned and stalked down the hallway towards the attic.
When he burst through the door to the attic staircase the first thing that hit him was the residual magic energy that practically coated the room. His spell keeping his brothers from being able to enter the attic, the spell that hid Belphie from view if they somehow managed to bypass the first spell, and finally most hauntingly, was the spell that kept Belphie sealed in the attic. All of them were dispelled by a counter spell from an all too familiar magic signature.
MC broke the spells.
Lucifer stormed up the stairs and down the hall to where Belphie was supposed to be, the stench of magic and blood got even stronger as he approached the open door.
He stood in the doorway, Belphie was sitting on the bed, hugging his knees, he looked over at Lucifer. The two stared each other down, Belphieâs expression held no malice or anger, it was glassy and far off, like he wasnât even there. Belphegor wasnât close enough to see, but Luciferâs pupils had retracted and stretched.
âLucifer.â
âWhat have you done?â
There was no triumph or glee in Belphegorâs voice, it was hollow and empty.
âI ruined the exchange program like I said I would.â
âââââ
MCâs eyes fluttered open, they expected to wake up to the sound of their DDD alarm buzzing and telling them to wake up for school, but the intense soreness of their neck snapped them back to reality. They were in their fatherâs room, lying on his bed.
âAh!â MC rasped, a hand flying to their neck to pull off the hand that was just wrapped around it.
Their thoughts raced. Why were they here? Where was Belphegor? Why werenât they dead?!
âMC..?â
MC lurched upwards whipped their head back and forth to find the source of the voice. They didnât have to look very far, Lucifer was sitting next to them with a clipboard and notebook on his lap.
âD-dad?â MC felt tears prick at their eyes, the events of the day crashing down on them all at once. They let out a sob and buried their head in Luciferâs chest.
Lucifer held MC close, If he wasnât a demon, the grip MC had on him would have crushed him.
âSh, itâs okay, youâre okay. Youâre safe now.â It sounded to MC like Lucifer was trying to reassure himself as much as he was trying to reassure them.
It hurt to cry, every sound and heavy gulp of air made MCâs neck and ribs throb with pain, every tiny movement of their arms made them want to cry even harder. The only silver lining was that it was less of a sharp recent pain and more of a reminder of a much older injury. The sped up healing courtesy of multiple spells must have aided in that regard.
âIâm sorryâŠâ They whimpered, choking out another sob. âIâm sorry Iâm sorry Iâm sorryâŠâ
âMC, what on earth are you sorry for?â
MC sniffled before explaining. âI⊠I-I let him out of the attic⊠I didnât listen when you said not to go up thereâŠhe said he wanted t-to fix everything⊠I just wanted to h-helpâŠâ
Lucifer hugged them tighter, it hurt a little, but MC didnât care.
âIâm sorryâŠâ MC whimpered again. âIâm so so sorryâŠâ
âShh,â Lucifer whispered. âItâs not your fault. I should have been there. I should haveâŠâ
Lucifer trailed off and the two fell silent, save for the occasional sniffle or hiccup from MC.
Despite all the reassurances, the guilt didnât go away, but what was worse was the fear. Every cell in MCâs body seemed to be screaming at them for their sheer stupidity. They had let Belphegor almost kill them, and their failure to fight him off had been made known to the entire house.
MCâs shaking slowly subsided and they pulled away slightly. âH-how did I live through that? How am I okay..? He said he was going to kill meâŠâ MC let out another sob and touched their neck. âWhat kind of demon am I if I canât even protect myself?â
âMC, look at me,â Lucifer instructed, MC shakily complied. âYou have nothing to be sorry for. None of this was your fault, this fight has been brewing for thousands of years and you just got caught in the crossfire. Youâre still a child, thereâs no shame in being hurt by a demon thousands of years older that caught you off guard and deceived you.â
MC nodded, wiping their tears with their sleeve. Lucifer did his best to smile comfortingly.
âBesides,â He helped wipe MCâs tears away. âI donât think any other demon in this house has enough magical power to break all three spells I had in place at once. Youâre not weak, MC, nor are you any less of a demon.â
A meow broke its way into the conversation, Bean nestled himself into MCâs lap and began to purr.
âI thought...â MC sniffled, then smiled. âI thought you didnât want Bean in your room.â
âIâll make an exception for today.â
âCareful, Father,â MC laughed between hiccups. âCerberus might think his favourite demon likes the cat more than him.â
âYou might be right, and we donât want to give Cerberus another reason to want to eat the cat.â
MC giggled, then winced at the pain in their neck. Lucifer sighed and pulled them into another hug.
âAsmodeus said that youâll be back to normal in a few days or less.â Lucifer whispered. âYouâll be okay.â
âAre⊠are you going to be okay?â MC asked.
Lucifer didnât respond for a moment, then sighed.
âI will be.â
After a while of absentmindedly petting the cat and leaning on their fatherâs arm, MC finally asked the question that had been on their mind since they had woken up.
âWhat happened to Belphegor?â
âHeâs with Beel right now.â Lucifer replied, MC half nodded as they stared blankly at the opposite wall.. âHeâs not going to hurt you again, I can promise you that.â
âMmâŠâ MC mumbled, they took a deep breath and braced themselves. âIâm sorry for being such an idiotâŠâ
âMC-â
âNo, I messed up,â a lump formed in MCâs throat as they continued. âBeel, Belphie, and I ran away after Belphie escaped the attic the first time⊠Lord Diavolo found us and took Belphie, I-I made Beel go back to get all of you so I c-could sneak into Barbatosâ room and fix everythingâŠâ
MC hiccuped and rubbed at their already puffy eyes. âI just made everything worseâŠâ
Lucifer sighed and absentmindedly clicked his pen. âI know. Barbatos and Diavolo came over before you woke up and explained everything.â
âWhat about the other future?â MC sniffed.
âAccording to Barbatos, he merged it with this one.â Lucifer said. âHe said that weâll be getting small batches of memories from that timeline, but thatâs it.â
MC blankly nodded again. Their head was filled with emotions and questions they just didnât have the strength to deal with. It didnât help that every single one of their limbs felt heavy as lead and they just wanted to go back to sleep.
âDo you need anything, MC?â
âMusic would be nice.â
Lucifer smiled and got up to turn on the record player. âCursed or not?â
ââ
Belphie was still in the attic. He lay in the bed in the midst of the destroyed room. Nothing was keeping him locked away up there, the door hadnât closed since MC unlocked it earlier. Despite it all, Belphie didnât want to leave. Not after what happened earlier.
Lucifer was fully ready to kill him. It had taken Beel, Levi, and Mammon using their full strength to actually hold Lucifer back.
But the hours had passed, Beel had left, Mammon and Levi could barely even look at him, Asmo and Satan hadnât even come to see him. The youngest had ruined everything, and all he had left to keep him company was the lingering feeling of regret.
âBelphegor.â
Belphie didnât open his eyes at the sound of his name. He felt a sudden weight on his chest, making it harder to breathe. He was no stranger to sleep paralysis and the unexplainable horrors that often followed, but his thousands of years of experience never could have prepared him for what he saw when he opened his eyes.
Lilith.
Her face was just as he remembered it, her eyes were just as bright and full of life as they were thousands of years ago. Her downy wings were open and fluttered slightly, and to Belphieâs horror, the wound from the arrow that pierced her right wing was still fresh.
But that was all, there were no remnants of the scars that coated her arms and neck from the war, no defeated look of resigned despairâŠ
It was Lilith, just as Belphie remembered her.
She glared at her brother with a rage he hadnât seen in millennia. She had his shirt balled up in her fists as she asked her first question.
âWhat the hell were you thinking!?â The pain and agony in her voice when she asked nearly caused Belphie to cry. âWhy did you do that?!â
Belphegor couldnât respond, he just stared up at the ghostly form of his sister. Her glare hardened.
âI didnât help MC break those spells for you to⊠do something like this!â
Her form flickered for the briefest of moments, instead of a halo and wings, a dragon-like tail and thin curved horns took their place, Lilithâs eyes darkened and her nails grew longer and sharper before she flickered back to the form Belphegor recognized.
âL-Lilith?â Belphie whispered, she rolled her eyes.
âUsing my death as an excuse for thatâŠâ She trailed off, her grip on Belphieâs shirt tightening. âYouâre terrible! You really are!â
Terrible? Lilithâs childlike way of chiding people for their misdeeds hadnât changed a bit. Belphie half expected her to cross her arms and puff out her cheeks like a petulant kid.
âWhat do you mean?â
âMC!â She growled, flickering back to the unfamiliar demon form. âThey werenât involved! They had nothing to do with me! NOTHING!â
âTheyâre⊠theyâre half human!â
Belphieâs pitiful attempts to justify his actions to Lilith and himself fell flat as the tight knot of guilt in his gut only grew.
âAnd Iâm stuck like this!â Lilith cried, she flickered back and forth from her angelic and demonic forms, her wounds from the war returning and disappearing as she switched back and forth. âStuck between being an angel and a demon! But youâd have me back in an instant, wouldnât you?â
She was right, Belphie would have given anything to have his sister back in any form. Angel, demon, humanâŠ
âYou canât stop and think for one moment that the humans had nothing to do with my death?!â
âThat human was the reason the war even started!â Belphie retorted, trying to push Lilithâs hands off of his shirt. âHeâs the reason why you were in trouble in the first place!â
âNo he wasnât! It was me! I made that decision, not him!â Lilith hissed. âYou know what youâve been doing for the past how many millennia? Looking for someone to blame! Looking for someone to hate that you have actual power over! You donât have power over the Celestial Realm, you donât have power over father, but you do have power over humans. You hate them because itâs convenient, and MC paid the price for it!â
Belphie shook his head. âThat's not true!â
âThen why?!â Lilith snarled. âWhy do you hate them so much?! Why donât you hate the angels with that much ferocity?! What did MC ever do to you other than try and help you?!â
Every accusation hit him like a hammer to the skull. His head throbbed with every single thing Lilith accused him of, no matter how much he denied it, he knew it was true. Every last word.
âJust..!â Lilithâs rage morphed into something much more quiet and fragile, she slowly curled into herself and shook her head. âJust⊠why? Why havenât you been able to move on?â
Belphie felt tears prick at the corner of his vision. âYou were our sister. They were just going to⊠just going to kill you like it was nothing. We promised weâd protect you and you died anywayâŠ. and it was all my fault.â
âBelphieâŠâ
âIf I had never taken you to the human world this never would have happenedâŠâ
âSo what?â
âH-huh?â
âSo what?â Lilith repeated. âItâs over now. Itâs been over and done with for thousands of years. You need to let it go.â
âBut-â
âMy death wasnât your fault, it wasnât Beelâs, and it wasnât any humanâs. We tried to fight the person who was responsible andâŠâ She trailed off, then quickly shook her head and returned her stare to her brother.
âH-how,â Belphie mumbled. âHow are they all going to forgive me..?â
Lilith grimaced and shook her head. âI have no idea. Just⊠try. Try and fix this...â
Belphie sighed and nodded. âI will.â
Lilith finally smiled. Her new tail swished through the air behind her as she slowly faded away.
âThank you.â
ââââ
Authorâs note:
May the muse Calliope have pity on my poor soul, this has been a WIP in my Google Docs SINCE PART 3 OF THE HALF DEMON SERIES CAME OUT.
I hope you all liked the angst⊠Iâm not too proud of my skills in writing the big sad (tm) yet, buuuuut this is âš progress âš, so Iâm not going to self deprecate! Iâm thinking of doing a version where itâs M!MC or A!MC instead of L!MC, because I know that Belphie and the kids would react very differently to the whole attempted murder thingâŠ
But for now, I must bid you all adieu. Iâm going to eat a pint of Ben and Jerryâs.

Mentalist (Mobivill)
To survive in the realities of honkai you need to be smart and strong. Either doubly smart or doubly strong. No other way. From birth, Mobius realized that strength was not her forte. She had to be very smart and also cunning. From early childhood, she observed people, studied behavioral reactions, drew conclusions and honed her skills, which had already been given a name, but which Mobius did not even know about. On her own, she became a mentalistâa master at controlling thoughts and behavior. That's why she survived without her parents or anyone else.
Having started working in Mantis, Mobius not only did not forget her skill, which had helped her more than once in difficult situations, but also began to improve it. Due to the experiments on her body, she became even weaker physically, but the smaller her body was, the greater her manipulation skills. Although the Flame Followers were smarter than the people Mobius had met before, many of them were much more trusting in life.
Mobius was still proud of how, even during her student days, she pitted two arrogant fellow students against each other who stole her course project and set about implementing it, without indicating her as the author of the theory. All that had to be done was to play on the complexes of one, substituting the other. Elizabeth was very worried about being overweight and tried her best to disguise it. Beauty standards, fuck them! In the end, the university does not like students whose photographs would be embarrassing to print on wall newspapers and honor boards. Therefore, Elizabeth was angry at anyone who was prettier or smarter than her (or both at once). But she endured her friend Rika: nevertheless, they worked together on a stolen project. Mobius played their quarrel like clockwork. I only spoke to each one a couple of times. Then she reassured Elisabeth that Rika wasn't putting any subtext into the phrases "you've got a THICK folder again", "which one of us will get all the HARD work", "our invention will be WIDE distributed". And the final chord, on Elizabeth's birthday, she sent two cakes to the laboratory of fellow students, with the signature that one was for the birthday girl personally, and the other for the guests. Mobius was not present in person, but there were rumors that Elizabeth got so mad at Rika that she beat her partner and pushed her down the stairs.
Mobius has always been the winner, to one degree or another. It was a little difficult for her to influence MEI, due to the peculiarities of her psyche: either because of different views, or because of different fates, but even she was able to fool her, convincing her that it was her idea to take Mobius into Mantis ...
And when Mobius started working with Vill-V, she did not hesitate to use her tricks to get what she wanted from her partner. Vill-V, despite not knowing any of its members before Praying Mantis, also proved to be suggestible and easily manipulated. The perfect guinea pig.
Mobius had two favorite and spectacular ways to convince Vee to do what she wanted: a coin and rock-paper-scissors. And if everything was clear with the game - Mobius had a lot of practice, and she never lost - then with a coin it was much more interesting.
- If the eagle, then do it my way! - Mobius once said for the first time after another long argument, taking out her lucky gear.
She threw it up. And, of course, an eagle fell out. And next time. And again, and again. So it was in every conflict, when neither wanted to yield to the other.
- Yes, you are always lucky! Not fair! Vill-V pouted. - Let's do it the other way around? If it's tails, then I'll have to go talk to MEI about funding, and if it's heads, will you go?
âNo problem,â Mobius agreed without haggling, putting her hand in her pocket and pulling out her other special coin: already with two tails, and not with two heads.
Well, when, after some time, Vill-V nevertheless suspected that Mobius was somehow cheating, she, without a twinge of conscience, gave her partner a completely ordinary coin for verification. Vee never revealed the secret...
Unbeknownst to herself, Vil-V was a constant test subject for Mobius training, especially when they lived on a laboratory-home-lab schedule for weeks, and there was no time to go, for example, to the cafeteria nearby. There, Mobius usually only played pranks. She pulled out reports from the folders of some inventors and put them in others. She changed food on a tray in front of the checkout, and sometimes she managed to draw obscenities on someone else's mashed potatoes with ketchup and enjoyed the embarrassment and ridiculous mumbling of the one she was playing a joke on. She âborrowedâ wallets to put in notes with some cipher without a code: let the scientists break their brains - and returned the wallet to its place ... But in recent weeks, all the energy of Mobius fell on Vill-V alone.
In addition, breeding Vee was a kind of âresetâ for Mobius, otherwise her brain would simply stop generating ideas and making calculations correctly. There were proven techniques that worked flawlessly, there were experimental techniques during which Mobius had to focus on the focus completely.
*
- Come on, I figured it out, you can no longer pretend!
- What are you talking about? Mobius turned around and rolled her eyes.
It can't be that Vill-V revealed her multi-move. And I wouldn't want to interrupt the show: she still has a few tricks up her sleeve.
- I'm talking about the fact that you are a magician, an illusionist, a swindler. Or what do you call yourself? You're kind of fooling me with that coin. You flip it the right way until I notice. Or do you throw something in a special way, right? Vill-V went up to Mobius and held out her hand. Show me what else you can do? I am sure that your skills are not limited to heads and tails.
- Aren't you afraid of becoming a victim of a scammer? Mobius asked a little offended.
She did not like this term, because she never robbed anyone. Even in childhood. She derived other benefits from her tricks, but never material ones. Although she could. So she is not a scammer, but rather a genius of illusion, a master of mind control, a juggler of someone else's attention ...
- Not. I trust you,â Vill-V's voice cut into Mobiusâs thoughts. Naive. Stupid.
- Even too much. Thatâs why itâs so easy with you,â Mobius breathed, pulled out a coin about two eagles and placed it in Vill-Vâs palm. And difficult at the same time. The point of the trick is not to toss a coin somehow, but to what coin to toss.
Vill-V took the coin and twirled it in her hand. Understanding slowly dawned on his face. Well, Mobius will have to invent a new trick to force Vill-V to act in her interests. But for now... You can create some magic for your partner.
Mobius again placed the coin on V's open palm and asked her to focus on it. Meanwhile, she herself stood a little behind her back, patting her on the shoulder. She began to speak to Vill-V with her teeth, as if explaining how her tricks work, and she herself âplayedâ with a coin: either it disappeared from Vill-Vâs palm and ended up on her shoulder, then it fell from somewhere above, then it hid behind her ear or behind the lapel of a jacket. While Vee was enjoying the primitive tricks done exclusively for her, Mobius managed to take off her watch.
- Well, how are you? - having finished the main block of tricks, Mobius put a coin on the back of her hand and, hitting it with her other hand, launched the coin into flight.
And she disappeared (although in fact she didnât even take off, but almost immediately returned to the pocket of Mobiusâs robe).
Vill-V looked up in admiration, and then at her partner.
- It's gorgeous! And how often do you do this?
- With you? - Mobius clarified, and V nodded. - Well, from time to time.
Mobius raised her wrist to her eyes in a dramatic way and looked at the dial of the other person's watch on her hand. It took Will-Wee a few seconds before she realized that something was wrong.
- My watch! When did you take them off? I didn't even notice!
âThat's what skill is all about. If you noticed, what would be the magic then? Mobius smiled enigmatically.
According to the plan, she also wanted to lead Vill-V by the nose, taking her tools right out of her hands, which would end up in the most unpredictable places. Play with her words so that she gives out a couple of her shameful secrets. But by and large, these tricks could be postponed until another day, when the research again âfreezesâ.

sigh.
imagine destiel but dustfinger
listen i get dean being more df because reckless stupid but please indulge me okay
Mo always saw himself as a reasonable guy.
He married his highschool sweetheart when he thought she was the love of his life. He pursued education and found a job that supported them. They had plans for a beautiful and bright future together.
When suddenly a vampire broke into their house and killed her while he was at work, he became a hunter to avenge her memory and protect their 2-year-old daughter.
Reasonable.
Just something every husband or parent would do.
But he never thought âreasonableâ meant âworthyâ. Never thought of himself so highly. So, when he sells his soul to make sure no harm ever comes Meggieâs way, he doesnât expect an angel to come down and rescue him from Hell. From the early ticket to damnation that he willfully dealt.
âAn angel?â He squints, staring at Elinor.
âItâs what the psychic said,â she shrugs. Shakes her head. âI donât understand it any better than you do, kid. Never had to deal with celestials myself.â
Meggie is chewing on her nail, shaking her leg. âAre we just not gonna talk about the whole âsold my soul to a demonâ thing?â When thereâs no response, she jumps up and looks between the two adults. âDad? Elinor?â
Mo looks down, avoids her eyes. Elinor canât offer an answer either. And he knows he should say something, but what? She canât understand it yet. Sheâs too young to know that parents would do literally anything for the safety of their children.
âI just wanted to keep you safe, Meg,â he murmurs at last. Finds her eyes. Sheâs fuming. âI couldnât bear it if something happened to you, like⊠Like what happened to your mom.â
âSo youâd rather leave me alone?â Her voice hitches. âWith no one to look after me?â
âYouâre a big girl, now.â Sheâs not and he knows, but Mo was 12 when his dad bailed and his mom had to take on three jobs to keep them fed. So she has 4 years of advantage. And he thinks after all that heâs taught her well enough, not just in hunting, but also in survival. âPlus, Elinorâs always here if you need-â
âI donât want Elinor, dad, I want you!â
He sighs, glances at Elinor â who doesnât seem to have taken it personally, which heâs thankful for â then back at Meggie. When he goes in for a hug, she shoulders past him and marches outside.
Mo rubs his eyes. God, heâs so tired. Feels like he hasnât had a proper night of sleep since Resa died and everything started. That was fourteen years ago, now. The years are getting to him⊠Maybe Hell wasnât so bad after all.
Flashbacks flood his mind and he has to reel himself in to keep from throwing up. All the torture and pain. So little time passed here on Earth, but it felt like a lifetime down there. The memory of Meggieâs smile, the only thing that he could focus on to remind himself that it was all worth itâŠ
But now this. Angels. An angel was sent to rescue him, to pull him back to the land of the living, because⊠Who even knows why. And what took them so long. And why the oh-so-mighty angel didnât stick around to say something, anything at all. As usual, he has more questions than answers and no oneâs ever around to help.
Thunder breaks out. The sound is loud, as if it fell nearby. Theyâre out in Elinorâs farmhouse, so he rushes to the backdoor to call Meggie back in. Sheâs already halfway up the stairs when he swings open the door.
âI think some⊠thing is here,â she whispers in a broken voice. Mo drags her to stand behind him, already pulling out his pistol, loaded with silver bullets.
âLooks like we have company,â he yells at Elinor over his shoulder and hears as she scrambles to get a shotgun. When he thinks about telling Meggie to find her knife, she already has it in hand. The three of them stand, covering each othersâ backs, watching and waiting for whatever happens next.
Then a blinding white light covers the land. Mo blinks a few times until his eyes are able to focus again. Marching towards them is a man. Tall, slender, very pale, with red hair and coal black eyes. He wears a long threadbare coat and an old, loose sweater, as well as ripped jeans, all in black. Mo figures heâs some demon, sent to collect him, and his spine grows cold. Terrified, even as he knows he should be down there.
Angel, he finds himself thinking, if itâs so important that I stay alive, this might be a good time to show you hecking face.
Before heâs able to move, Elinor shoots.
The man (demon?) stumbles back a couple steps, but he resumes his marching no more than a second later. His face is unreadable. He doesnât blink, doesnât even seem to breathe. Mo canât tell what his intentions are, but one thing is certain: heâs coming for him.
Heâs climbing up the stairs now and Mo is taking some hesitant steps back, and Elinor and Meggie are both pushing him forward, to make him hold his ground. Then itâs Meggie who lunges at the man, sinks the demon knife into his chest with all her strength. Mo pulls her back before the creature has the time to react, puts himself between them. A small smile creeps up on the demon as he pulls the blade clean off his chest, unbothered. He lets it fall to the ground with a loud clang.
After everything heâs seen and killed, Mo isnât much religious, but heâs saying a soft prayer in his head as he puts up his gun and stares down the barrel at the creature.
âWho are you and what do you want?â He barks, trying his hardest not to let his voice waver.
Lightning cracks again and Moâs mind fills with a memory that had been suppressed â flying out of Hell, dazed, feverish. Someoneâs hand, a hard grip on his shoulder, where thereâs a scar now. Wings flapping around them. And red hair.
He blinks up and the angel smiles. âHello, Mortimer. You called for me. Twice.â

A COURT OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS
Chapter 1: Voices
Read at AO3.
Gwyn's afternoon couldn't get any worse.
First of all, the morning's training had been horrendous.
Three weeks after the Blood Rite, Cassian and Azriel had thought it was time to start practicing again, since according to them, they had made a lot of mistakes that could very well have cost them their lives.
She was still alive, just like Nesta and Emerie, so at least one thing they had done well, survive.
After 3 weeks of not doing any sports, it was noticeable when you came back with all the energy, especially on a day where the sun was literally burning.
She noticed as she did push-ups that morning how her arms were trembling dangerously, the sweat running down the curve of her breasts, soaking the shirt she had worn.
Gwyn had promised herself that she would go out into the outside world.
That year she had made a lot of progress, she supposed she should be ready to enter society again, but no.
After the events in the Blood Rite, what she wanted was to lock herself in the darkest corner of the library, with a good book, and stay there to live.
Obviously, she couldn't do that. But she would have liked it.
With all the sore muscles, having failed almost all the obstacles the two Illyrians put them, showing a regrettable endurance in each and every one of the exercises, she had to go down to the library to have a pleasant chat with Merrill, who did not understand why her performance hadn't been 100% in recent weeks.
"I don't know, Merrill. Maybe because they pulled me out of bed against my will, left me in the middle of a forest full of Illyrians, while I had to fight to stay safe, as well as having to kill people? Maybe because I had never left the library after Sangravah, and I suddenly found myself in the same situation? " She reasoned, trying to control her pulse, having remembered the events in the Blood Rite.
She detested Merrill.
More than anyone else, she hated her. She often thought that life would be so much easier if people like Merrill just didn't exist.
After leaving her a ton of work to do, the female disappeared, leaving Gwyn with about seven books resting in her arms, already numb from the morning exercises.
She ran to the nearest table, relieved when she put the books down, with a thud.
She rubbed her dazed hands, wincing at the pile of books that awaited her to spend hours and hours together.
She had to research one of Merrill's new obsessions, the ancient and forgotten Prythian gods.
"I didn't even know they existed", she opined, opening a random book to a random page, flipping through the contents.
She got dizzy from so much information she did not understand, closing the pages with force, grabbing a cart that was nearby, leaving the volumes in it and going to her room, to calmly read those pages and pages of useless information, and then do a chapter-by-chapter summary for Merrill.
"Great, it's a good way to spend your free time if you love reading junk." She groaned as she carefully lowered the cart down the stairs.
"It is not junk. It is information that may be useful at some point", answered her subconscious.
At least she thought it was her subconscious.
She didn't remember when she had started to hear that voice, just one day it had appeared, and now it was considered the voice of reason.
Everything that voice said, it was true.
"I know, but I don't know how knowing which are the main and forgotten gods of Prythian is going to solve my problems." She attacked, greeting one priestess that came close to her, passing by her side.
The voice fell silent, apparently it had nothing more to add.
At least Gwyn could answer the voice in her mind. It would have been a strange thing to see a person argue with herself.
Upon reaching the room, which was a simple square with a bed, a wooden desk with a wooden chair that had more splinters than wood itself, and a modest closet, also made of wood.
Yeah, in summer the termites would destroy all the furniture if she wasn't careful.
Closing the door with the latch, one of the little luxuries she had on it, she put the books down with a thump, brushing her hands on the skirts of the gown, which was already heavily encrusted with dust.
She thought of taking off that long dress, which after so many washes the initial blue had ended up in an almost invisible gray, but she did not feel like going to the common baths of the priestesses, because every time she went there, they peppered her with questions about the Blood Rite.
And the last thing she wanted to do was talk about it.
So she collapsed on the bed, pulling back the covers and hugging the pillow with one arm, as she got into a fetal position.
"You have to go out, you can't hide in the bedroom all afternoon." It protested, to which she responded very kindly with a growl as she turned, trying to make it understand that she was going to do whatever she wanted.
"Alright then. If you get caught between the sheets and can't get out, don't come running to ask me for help." it threatened.
Gwyn didn't know how she was going to ask for help to a voice. It was disembodied, how the hell was she going to beg for help if she didn't even know what that murmur was?
She rolled over on the bed, rubbing her eyes and exhaling, disappointed.
She hated not being able to get out of that damn room.
She hated her insecurity and her irrational fear.
"It is not irrational, Gwyn." It assured her.
"Leave me alone." She begged, getting it to shut up.
She lay on her stomach, breathing deeply.
She looked at the time on the only clock in the room, located above the closet.
19.36.
It appears that she had a lot of time to do absolutely nothing.
Maybe she was going to pick up a book that Nesta and Emerie were reading.
Honestly, she was dying to sink her teeth into one that had caught her attention. According to her description, a maiden sent by the gods fell in love with her bodyguard...
Determined, she bolted upright, unlocking the latch, happily heading for the book.
There would be time to examine the books Merrill had passed her.
Anyway, she had a lot of time, reading something that interested her was not going to do anything bad to everyone.
With a broad grin, she made it to the fiction book section. She opened one of the books, tucking her nose between the pages, an exhale escaping from her lips when she smelled the wonderful book scent.
Her gaze sparking, she searched for the novel she was looking for.
"Didn't you forget something?" It asked.
She stopped short in the middle of the shelves, alarming a passing priestess.
Bowing her head in apology, she went back to searching, her eyes narrowing as she searched the thousands of spins with her eyes, finding none that bore the name of the book she was looking for.
"I don't have any errands to deliver to Merrill." She snapped, frowning when she finally found it.
It was at the top of the shelf.
She made a long face, standing on her tiptoes, stretching her arm as far as she could as she stuck her tongue out, focused.
"I don't mean Merrill, Gwyneth."
"Mysterious voice, what are you talking about?" The priestess demanded in a tired voice. She did not arrive. Why did they make the shelves so high? It was not possible that someone could reach them.
Although, don't get it wrong, Gwyn adored the voice. It was equal to the voice that we all have within us guiding us.
The problem was that the voice that she had was a little⊠annoying.
She looked at the shelves next to the floor, no books in sight.
Maybe if she got on them
She put one foot on it, skipping little hops as she judged whether the bookcase was going to fall or not.
Realizing that it was unlikely, she lifted her other foot, raising her heels as much as she could while she stretched out her arm, feeling her muscles go numb.
A little more ... just a little more ...
"You remember that your friend Nesta has a mate, right? And that you promised them that you would go to her ceremony?" As soon as she finished the sentence, Gwyn stopped.
Shit.
Seriously, had she forgotten that?
"There is still time⊠There are five days until the ceremony." The voice tried to calm her down, but nothing was going to do it now.
She jumped down from the shelf, as she began to walk from one place to another, in circles.
She had to go.
She couldn't do that to Nesta.
"I don't even have a dress. What am I going to wear?" Alarmed, she slightly stretched the strands of her coppery hair, thinking of a way to solve all the problems that had suddenly befallen her.
I have to leave the library to go to the mating ceremony.
I have to leave the library to go to the mating ceremony.
The female began to hyperventilate, forgetting the book that she had held less than 3 centimeters from her hands.
That was far more important.
"I can't tell Nesta that I forgot about her mating ceremony. I can't do that to her." Gwyn protested, running her hands over her face, rubbing her temples angrily, forcing herself to search for solutions and solutions and solutions.
But neither of them was going to work.
She had to get out of there, no priestess was going to leave her a suitable dress for the mating ceremony.
But she couldn't go alone. She did not dare to go down to the city alone.
Emerie couldn't help her. It had started the illyrian high-selling season and the illyrian needed the money. She only went to training, then she quickly returned to her store, not staying a minute longer than necessary.
Cassian and Nesta were completely out of the question.
Azriel...
"Ask him." The voice advised.
She needed to name that voice. She could not continue calling it "the voice", that was beginning to be uncomfortable.
"Maybe he can help you get the dress." It continued.
Would it be male or female? Or rather, what the hell was it?
"Are you listening to me?"
She definitely had no idea what it was.
"What are you?" Gwyn questioned, curious as she left the fiction section behind, walking aimlessly through the library.
She loved to wander aimlessly through the thousands of bookshelves, silent priestesses, the whisper of books her only company.
Besides that voice, of course.
"Have you heard anything I've said to you in the last two minutes?" Her voice roared.
"I've heard nonsense, so no, I haven't heard anything." She claimed. "But anyway, you haven't answered my question. What are you?"
"I am everything and I am nothing at the same time."
Now was it was being funny with her?
She rolled her eyes, annoyed "That is not an answer."
"It's an answer if you know how to interpret it." It answered.
She rolled her eyes again.
"Well, at least tell me what I can call you, it's uncomfortable to think of you as 'The voice'" She asked.
The voice fell silent, which she thought meant the end of the conversation.
She decided to head over to her room, assuming she should start Merrill's work, until 'the Voice' answered her.
"EliĂĄn"
Gwyn stood in the middle of the bedroom hall
"That is your name?"Â She asked.
"My real name would burn your lips if you were able to pronounce it" It replied. "But yes, EliĂĄn is my name, and I am 'him', I have noticed how you struggled because you did not know if I was a man or a woman. The definition of gender is much more complicated than that, but it will be enough".
"G-Good." She answered.
EliĂĄn was quiet at last, leaving her with her own thoughts, as she opened the door, her own scent of jasmine feeling welcoming.
And the proposal he had made, although obviously she had ignored it, she was not wrong to consider.
Perhaps the Shadowsinger would help her out, aiding her finding a decent dress for her.
She closed the crank behind her, sitting on the small bed, wondering if it would be smart to ask him, risking him saying no, or not asking him and risking not having a dress for the ceremony.
Sighing, she figured she should go to the bathrooms to get the sensation of dust - and the dust itself - off her body, so she grabbed change clothes and headed there, deciding at that moment that tomorrow she would ask the Spymaster if he could accompany her to buy a dress.
Inside her, she could feel EliĂĄn nodding his head, giving his approval.

Can you and your friends survive the night in Caratland?
a/n: realizing halloween is coming up, iâve decided to FINALLY finish the au i did last halloween. for those who kept up with it: iâm sorry for discontinuing it. there was hardly any interaction with it so i just lost interest and motivation. and the lack of interaction is why i decided to just put all the choices in this part so you can see all the endings and whatnot. iâm sorry it took so long to wrap things up and there will probably be mistakes so iâm sorry about that, but i hope you all still enjoy it. âItâs probably best to go back to the breach, right?â you decided. âWe know itâs there so itâs the best way to get back.â
â_____ has a point,â Wonwoo shrugged.
âAlright, everyone head back to the hole -- and donât get split up,â Seungcheol stated before deciding to take the lead.
âOkay, but if I see one of those glorified Chuck E. Cheese mascots coming toward us, Iâm leaving all of you behind,â Seungkwan muttered as he followed with the group.
All of you were glancing around trying to keep an eye out for the animatronics, while also trying to quickly and quietly make your way back to the way youâd gotten into the park. You kept mentally kicking yourself for convincing your friends to come here. If it wasnât for you, you wouldnât be in this mess in the first place. You were just lucky everyone was still here...
The gates were starting to come into view, and you felt relief begin to course through you. Your legs were starting to move faster on their own, just wanting to get out of this living nightmare.
Seungcheol shooting his arms out to stop the group was what had you skid to a stop. He whispered loudly for everyone to get down behind the nearby shrubs and two trash bins. The fourteen of you poked your heads around to see what had gotten him to act like this, and your heart sank at what you saw
Serenity was blocking the hole in the fence.
âFuck,â Jeonghan hissed.
âWeâre gonna die here...â Seokmin whispered, but Wonwoo was quick to comfort him.
âWhatâs the plan now?â Hansol wondered.
âI know itâll risk us going to jail or something,â Jihoon began, âbut I think itâs time we just cave and call someone.â
âNo, Iâm not going back there!â Seungkwan whispered intensely.
Your eyebrows furrowed as your turned to look at him, âExcuse me?â
âIâd rather get arrested than get murdered,â Mingyu insisted. âAt least we know weâll be safe and alive in jail.â
You made a face, âWill we, though?â
âListen,â Hansol interrupted as he pulled out his phone, âIâll just call my parents -- theyâre really chill. And worse case scenario, they just lecture us.â
But as he went to make the call, all his phone did was beep at him like the line was busy. He took the phone away from his ear and looked down, furrowing his eyebrows.
âWe had service all night, right?â he asked.
âYeah...?â Joshua replied.
âWell now I donât for some reason,â he said, turning his phone screen to show his friends.
Mingyuâs eyes widened, âYouâre kidding.â
Then everyone, including you, were taking out their phones and checking for service. Just like Hansol, you had no bars.
Unfortunately, everyone else was in the same boat.
Now, Seokmin was on the verge of tears, âWeâre going to die here!â
âDonât get hysterical yet,â Minghao told him. âThereâs gotta be a way out of this. Even if we have to wait around until morning, we can probably out-run these hunks of metal.â
âYâknow, I heard a friend of a friend snuck in here once,â Soonyoung began. âSome dude Changkyun knows. He said thereâs apparently some sort of underground exit under the food court.â
âAt this point, weâll have to try anything,â Wonwoo sighed.
âSo back to the food court?â Seungcheol practically whined.
You took a deep breath, âUnfortunately, yeah.â

âDoes anyone even remember where the hole in the fence is?â you asked.
Everyone either gave you blank stares or shook their heads. You let out a sigh.
âAlternate way it is,â Minghao shrugged.
âLetâs just hang here until someone thinks of something,â Seungcheol suggested. âWeâre all here, and I think those things are still hanging around wherever we were before. Itâll take a while before we see them again.â
So the fourteen of you hung out at the merry-go-round. Most of you leaned up against the horses or found yourselves sitting down on them. A few of you sat on the two steps of the platform. Chan and Wonwoo were sitting in one of the carriages that most families or parents sat in. All of you were scrolling on your phones or looking at someone elseâs phone, trying to research anything about Caratland that might help you find a way out. Maybe a map or a blueprint or something might come up.Â
Suddenly, the ride jerked. You almost fell over onto Junhui as the ride began turning slowly, the music trying to play but the wiring was too old and worn that it just sounded demonic at best.
âHa ha, very funny,â Jihoon scoffed. âWho turned on the ride?â
The question was overlooked by Mingyuâs shriek. Every head who was on his side of the merry-go-round whipped over to see Bongbong sitting on a horse only a few rows away from the tall boy. But another scream from Seungkwan was what brought attention to the answer to Jihoonâs question.
Eight was standing at the controls of the ride, his never-changing smile on his face as he slowly waved.
âRun!â Joshua called, leaping off of the horse he was sitting sideways on.
âRun where?â Seokmin called as he scrambled to get off the ride and jump the short fence.
âFood court!â Soonyoung shouted as he pumped his legs as fast as they would go. âItâs a long shot...but I have an idea!â
âIâd rather know the idea first!â Jeonghan called after him as the group ran together away from the merry-go-round.
âOne of Changkyunâs friends apparently broke in before!â he tried to explain between breaths. âHe said thereâs an underground exit there! Who knows if itâs legit, but...â
But it was the only plan they had.

All of you had to squeeze through the tiny basement windows to get back in after finding the doors to be locked once again.
âHowâd those fuckers get out in the first place?â Jeonghan huffed as he landed on the concrete floor of the basement. âThe doors have been locked this entire time.â
âWeâre being chased by animatronics that havenât been functioning for years, and theyâre out to kill us for some reason, and thatâs what youâre going to question?â Soonyoung pointed out.
âCan we focus, please?â Seungcheol whined. âThe sooner we find this secret eit, the sooner weâre free.â
âEveryone start searching,â Hansol said, waiving for everyone to scour the basement.
All of you searched every inch you could. The floor, the walls, shelves, behind old cupboards and props -- but there was nothing.
âWhat if itâs not here?â Chan suggested.
âYeah? And where else would an underground exit be other than in the basement?â Jeonghan shot back.
The youngest frowned and rolled his eyes, âSoonyoung just said it was underground, he didnât say under what part of the food court.â
âI mean...Jeonghan has a point,â Seokmin admitted hesitantly. âThe basement is underground.â

âIt canât hurt to check somewhere else,â you spoke up, moving to stand beside Chan. âWeâre looked everywhere down here. What if itâs not in the basement? There could be some secret tunnel under a different location and weâre just going to be here wasting our time.â
âI mean...yeah, that makes sense,â Jihoon decided with a shrug. âAlright, weâll try back upstairs.â
âI donât wanna go back up there...â Seokmin whined, clinging to the nearest person -- it happened to be Junhui.
âWeâre all going,â you reassured him with a soft smile. âLetâs go. Nothingâs going to happen.â
You led the way up the stairs this time, but you found yourself going slow. You strained your ears for any noise on the other side of the basement door but the food court seemed to be quiet. Maybe the animatronics couldnât get back in since the doors were locked.
You pushed the door open cautiously, poking your head out to glance around. It seemed empty, so you opened the door wider and let everyone else out.
âIs that e--â
SLAM!
All of you jumped back and turned around hearing the basement door slam shut behind the last person out.Â
âFuck this, I want out,â Mingyu stated, shaking his head as he began to quickly walk away from the door.
âHold up,â Wonwoo reached out and grabbed Mingyuâs wrist to keep him with the group. âWe should stick together.â
âIt probably just closed from the weight of the door anyway,â Minghao figured before going to pull on the door handle.
It didnât budge.
âMove out of the way, toothpick,â Seungcheol smoothly pushed Minghao out of the way before trying the door himself.
Still nothing.
âD-did it...lock?â Chan asked slowly.
âHaha, would you look at that?â Seungkwan said, checking his wrist that very clearly didnât have a watch on it. âI actually have to get the fuck out of here. Bye!â
âMaaaaybe,â Hansol grabbed him by the elbow and dragged him back, âdonât do that.â
âYeah, nobody goes running off, got it?â Jihoon checked, shining his light at everyone to make sure they agreed to the new rule. âShitâs too weird to be splitting up.â
âI think our best bet would be to hide in the security room until morning,â you spoke up. âItâs probably the safest place in here.â
â_____âs right,â Wonwoo nodded. âLetâs go -- and stick together.â
As a group, all of you made your way to the security room, with you, Jihoon, and Soonyoung leading the way. All of you had your lights, shining them around to make sure the entire area was safe until you made it to the security room and barricaded the door closed.
âJesus Christ, I hated that,â Mingyu panted as if he had been holding his breath the entire time you were walking.
âI think I almost shit myself,â Soonyoung admitted.
âImagine your last words being âI think I almost shit myselfâ,â Junhui snorted.
âHang on, shut the fuck up,â Seungcheol snapped, holding a hand up as he quickly scanned the group in the room. He was trying to count heads while all of you were talking, and as he quickly recounted, his blood turned to ice. âWhy are we one short?â
âOne short?â Jeonghan asked.
âSomeoneâs missing,â he said urgently.
âAlright, letâs run attendance real quick,â Jihoon decided, trying to stay level-headed. He pulled out his phone and went to the group chat. âObviously Iâm here. Soonyoung?â
âHere.â
âSeungcheol?â
âHere.â
âMingyu?â
âUnfortunately here.â
âHansol?â
âYup.â
â_____?â
âHere.â
âJoshua?â
Silence.
Jihoon looked up from his phone, repeating, âJosh?â
You and your friends looked around, trying to find Joshuaâs face in the crowded room. But nobody spoke up, and the silence following Joshuaâs name became deafening.
âOh fuck...â you breathed, trying to not completely lose your shit. âDid we really lose Josh?â
âWe have to go back for him,â Jeonghan insisted.
âWhat? No!â Seungkwan shouted. âThatâs suicide!â
Then everyone was bickering. While everyone of course wanted to hope Joshua was safe, half of the group felt that going back out to look for him would mean all of them would get killed. The other half, on the other hand, were willing to risk their lives to go on a rescue mission.

âI mean...how would it be under anywhere else?â you asked slowly with a shrug. âNo offense, Chan. But like, this is kind of the only basement in the place.â
âSee?â Jeonghan sneered.
Chan just frowned and rolled his eyes.
âThereâs gotta be something we missed,â Soonyoung said, trying to stay calm. âLetâs just sweep the place over again.â
But after more looking, you still came up with nothing.
âAt this point, Iâm about to just dig through the boxes of old animatronic parts and just hope thereâs a portal at the bottom or something,â Joshua sighed, slumped against a wall with Jeonghan beside him.
âGood luck,â Jeonghan scoffed. âI already tried picking one up to move them away from the wall but theyâre super fucking heavy. Itâs literally impossible.â
You turned your head to look at the large stack of boxes. There were piles of various sizes, but the ones at the back pressed up against the wall went up the highest. It was a long shot, but behind the boxes was the only place nobody checked because it couldnât be reached. But with everyone giving up hope, it didnât hurt to try, right?
âHey, Gyu,â you spoke up before pointing to the boxes. âThink you can move those?â
Mingyu shrugged, âYeah, probably.â
He walked over to the wall and began lifting boxes one-by-one. He grunted as he picked them up and moved them away until he called everyone over.
âThereâs metal behind here!â he called over his shoulder.
âOoh, is it the door?â Soonyoung asked excitedly, pushing himself off the floor.
âTold you it was better to look down here,â Jeonghan said once more.
Jihoon groaned, âCan you let it go? Leave Chan alone already.â
Seungcheol started assisting in the box-moving until the metal door was accessible. Seungcheol tried to push it open, but it didnât budge. He tried harder, but still nothing.
âCan I try?â Mingyu asked.
Seungcheol stepped out of the way, gesturing for the tallest to give it a shot.
Mingyu threw his shoulder into the door a few times before it finally swung open, leading to a narrow corridor that looked like it would bring you straight to Hell.
âOkay,â Soonyoung breathed out, âletâs see if this is the way to freedom.â

âWhy is this an argument?!â you shouted over the bickering. âOur friend could be dead! I donât care if nobody comes with me, but Iâm going to find Josh.â
âIâll go,â Jeonghan stated.
âMe too,â Hansol volunteered with a slight raise of his hand.
âPlus, I highly doubt an animatronic got him,â Minghao scoffed as he went to join your group as you went to open the door.
âWell...good luck with that,â Seungkwan nodded.
In the end, it was you leading the way, with Jeonghan, Hansol, Minghao, Seokmin, and Seungcheol tagging along -- the latter two clinging to each other as you opened the door and went down the short hallway to the door that read EMPLOYEES ONLY on the other side.
âWhy would he split off from the group?â Jeonghan wondered. âIf he were trying to prank you guys, he wouldâve had me in on it.â
âMaybe he just--â
Your sentence was cut off by a scream -- your own scream. Your eyes saw the scene before you: Joshuaâs body laying just in front of the EMPLOYEES ONLY door, a bloodied mess. All you could do was scream.
Standing over him, covered in what you could only assume was your friendâs blood, was Bongbong.
â_____, run!â Minghao shouted, grabbing your arm and yanking you away from the door.
He quickly reached for the door and slammed it closed as you and the others ran back down the short hall. Jihoon had poked his head out the door to see what the noise was, and you crashed right into him, hyperventilating as tears welled in your eyes.
God, that image was going to be burned into your brain forever.
âWhat happened?â he asked.
âJ-J-Josh!â you sobbed.
âThose things are in here,â Minghao panted, closing the door to the security room and pressing his back. âTh-they got Josh.â
âYouâre fucking with us,â Seungkwan said quietly and very unsurely.
âWould Minghao fuck with you?!â Jeonghan cried. âIf you donât believe us, why donât you go out there and check for yourself, Kwan? Go get yourself traumatized!â
âOkay, donât scream at him, it wonât help anything,â Wonwoo spoke up, trying to somehow keep the group put together.
âLetâs just focus on finding a way out,â Seungcheol decided in a shaky voice.Â
âU-um...guys?â Mingyu spoke up, staring into the monitors.
Everyone gathered over to see what he was looking at.
Each room had a camera and a monitor to go with it. In each room, stood an animatronic. Each camera had an animatronic staring into it, as if they all were staring at the group.
They knew where you were.
âWe have to get out of here,â Seomin panted, beginning to hyperventilate. âTheyâre going to come in here and kill us!â
âI get itâs scary, but we have to stay calm and--â
âHey!â
Everyone turned their heads a the sudden exclamation. Chan was standing beside a square metal door in the floor with some dusty boxes and wires heâd moved to find it. He smirked, gesturing to the door.
âWhile you guys were shitting your pants, I found the underground exit,â he stated.
âWell fuck, kid,â Jihoon whistled under his breath.
âLetâs get the hell outta here,â Soonyoung said as he threw the trapdoor opened and descended the ladder that led to a narrow corridor.
Chan gave Jeonghan a pointed look, âAnd you thought I was stupid.â
Jeonghan just rolled his eyes, âWhatever.â

You felt like a shitty person for not wanting to risk your life for Joshua. You felt extremely guilty that you didnât want to go out and look for your friend, but truthfully, you were afraid to die -- and thatâs why half your friends didnât want to go looking for him. Not everyone was brave enough to be a hero, and while you always told yourself you would be when putting yourself into the shoes of horror movie characters, it just wasnât the truth.
But in the midst of the argument of whether or not to go out to search for Josh -- the argument that you stayed silent for -- Mingyu spoke up in a shaky voice, âU-uh...g-guys?â
Everyone turned toward him to see he was staring into the monitors. You all gathered over to see what he was looking at.
Each room had a camera and a monitor to go with it. However, the monitors had gone fuzzy so you couldnât see anything in any of the rooms.
Wonwooâs eyebrows furrowed, âWhy are the cameras suddenly down?â
You wished they stayed that way after seeing what was displayed next. In each room, stood an animatronic. Each camera had an animatronic staring into it, as if they all were staring at the group.
They knew where you were.
Unfortunately, that wasnât the most disturbing thing.
You could see on one of the monitors, Bongbong was standing in front of the camera holding a familiar body. Joshua was being held up by his neck, and blood was coming out of his mouth, nose, eyes, and even his ears.Â
You werenât the only one to let out a scream and flinch away from the camera, hiding your face as you started panicking and crying.
âWe have to get out of here,â Seomin panted, beginning to hyperventilate. âTheyâre going to come in here and kill us!â
âWe have to find the fucking exit!â Seungcheol said in a panic. âEveryone go--â
âHey!â
Everyone turned their heads a the sudden exclamation. Chan was standing beside a square metal door in the floor with some dusty boxes and wires heâd moved to find it. He was just staring at you like he hadnât just witnessed what all of you did -- and maybe he didnât because he was too busy searching.
âWay ahead of you,â he stated.
âThank god,â Jihoon said under his breath.
âLetâs get the hell outta here,â Soonyoung said as he threw the trapdoor opened and descended the ladder that led to a narrow corridor.
Chan gave Jeonghan a pointed look, âAnd you thought I was stupid.â
Jeonghan just glared at him, âIâm not in the fucking mood.â
And then he went down the ladder.

Other than only being wide enough for one person to walk through at a time, it was also very dimly-lit. It definitely looked like something straight out of a horror movie that would 100% lead to the charactersâ imminent death.
Needless to say your heart was pounding in your ears.
There was another metal door, but this one was far easier to open. The squeak of it echoed down the corridor as the thirteen of you filed into the room. It seemed to be where they kept the spare mascot suits that actual employees would wear. There were a few of the bodies of the suits hanging up, with heads scattered in corners and on shelves, along with gloves and feet strewn about.
âI hate this,â Jun stated, looking around the room.Â
âI know these things are empty, but looking into their empty eyes is somehow worse,â Jihoon mumbled, staring at an Eight head.
At the opposite end of the tiny room in the right corner was another metal door. You were starting to wonder how many more metal doors youâd have to encounter in this place.
To the left of the room, there was a tiny wooden door that seemed like it would lead to a crawlspace. You assumed there was just more storage back there, but nobody cared enough to look back there, anyway. The focus was to get out of this place and get to safety.
âCâmon,â you nodded your head toward the other metal door that you assumed would lead to the exit, âletâs keep going.â
As Seungcheol went for the door, you and your friends heard banging. You all paused, Seungcheolâs hand on the handle. You listened for the banging again, and then looked to where it seemed to be coming from.
âGuys?â Joshuaâs voice called from behind the small wooden door. âGuys?! Oh my god, guys! C-can you hear me? Hello?! Help me!â
âJosh?â Jeonghan took a step toward the door.

âJoshua!â you cried as you ran to the small door.
You knew what your eyes saw, but was it possible none of it was real? How else would you be hearing Joshuaâs voice? He mustâve been alive somehow. Anything seemed possible at this point.
You got down on your knees, opened the small door, and crawled your way through. You stood up as your friends tried to get in behind you, but what you saw made your heart fall into your stomach as your hands went to cover your mouth, muffling the loud sob that came out.
Joshuaâs body was slumped against the left wall, looking just as you had remembered.
He was still dead.
Your friends had similar reactions to you. Seokmin even threw up.Â
Seungcheol shook his head slowly, eyes full of tears while some streaked his cheeks, âWe... W-we have to bring his body...â
âHeâs right,â Jihoon said solemnly -- his body seemed to be shutting down now, almost uncapable of processing his emotions. âWe need evidence of what happened tonight. Nobody will believe us otherwise.â
âI-I hate to say it, b-but...itâll s-slow us down, though,â Wonwoo interjected through his sniffles. âWhat if we donât make it out?â

You quickly reached out and grabbed Jeonghan to keep him from going any closer to that door. He turned to look at you, a pained expression on his face.
âJeonghan, thatâs not Joshua,â you told him. âYou saw what happened to him. Whatever it is, itâs not him.â
âI think _____âs right,â Wonwoo nodded. âWe need to keep going.â
You kept your hold on Jeonghan as all of your began filing out of the mascot room into another narrow corridor like the other one. This one, though, had a sharp right turn before leading down a while to another steel door.
But this door didnât budge.
Soonyoung was at the head of the group, and he groaned in frustration as he tugged at the handle over and over again, âYouâve gotta be fucking kidding me; whatâs with these doors?!â
You started to hear a thumping. It slowly got louder and louder...
...Or maybe it was closer and closer.
Junhui walked down the way youâd come and poked his head around the corner, his eyes widening at what he saw. He whipped his head back around and booked it straight back to where your group was trying to open the door, calling, âYou might wanna hurry up on that door!â
Coming down the hall were all four animatronics, their eyes lit up as they stomped closer and closer.
âItâs not doing anything!â Soonyoung huffed, trying with all his might to open the door. âMingyu, get up here!â
Mingyu squeezed between bodies to get to the door, trying to open it as the group just shouted for him to be faster.
âWe might have to just...face these things,â Chan said. âOnce and for all.â
âYeah? How?â Wonwoo scoffed. âTheyâll crush us in seconds.â
âThereâs fou-- thirteen of us, and four of them. We might have a shot.â

âWe canât just leave him here,â you stated. âNot only for the evidence, but because he doesnât deserve to rot away here. His family doesnât deserve to wonder what happened to him.â
âIâll grab him,â Seungcheol offered, swallowing his fears and stepping forward to scoop up his friend. âLetâs get him home.â
Chan was the last into the tiny room, so he turned to go. But the wooden door was suddenly closed and wouldnât open back up.
âWhat the hell?!â he grunted as he continued to try the door.
âWhyâd you let it close, dumbass?!â Jeonghan demanded.
âI didnât!â Chan shouted back. âIt was just open!â
âUgh, leave it to the fucking baby to--â
âG-guys?â Seokmin asked.
âCan you get off my fucking case?!â Chan huffed as he stood up and went to stand toe-to-toe with Jeonghan. âYouâre always such a fucking asshole to me! Why canât you--â
âGuys?â Seokmin tried again, looking between the left and right walls.
âAre you two really going to argue right now?â Jihoon groaned. âWeâre literally--â
âGuys!â Seokmin finally shouted over everyone. âThe walls!â
âWhat about the--â
Jihoonâs question died down as soon as all of you began looking at the walls. They were moving in toward each other, which would crush all of you between them.
Everyone was suddenly in a panic. Everyone was throwing themselves at the door, trying to tug it open before the walls could do anything. Some of you -- such as you and Wonwoo -- decided to spread out so you had more room. But some -- like Jeonghan and Chan, who grouped up by the door with a few others -- created a big human-lump that would be crushed faster. You heard their cries and pleas before they were crushed to death with a sound you couldnât get out of your ears.
It was only a moment later you met the same fate.

"Nobody wants to be the asshole that says itâs better to leave him behind, but...â you trailed off.
Wonwoo was right. Joshua would more than likely slow you down. Besides, you knew Josh would want all of you to have the best chance of getting out alive as possible.
âTh-then you go ahead,â Seokmin spoke up, almost like he was afraid to.
âWhat?â Jihoon asked.
âI...â Seokmin looked at Joshua as more tears welled in his eyes. âIt makes me sad to think heâd just be down here alone. I donât care if heâs...gone. He canât just stay down here.â
âIâm not leaving my best friend down here,â Jeonghan agreed.
âSeokmin, heâs--â
âLook, just go,â Hansol interrupted whatever Jihoon was going to say. âIâll help them with the body. You guys just go on ahead.â
Minus the three who wanted to collect Joshuaâs body, the group turned and left the small room and went back to the mascot room. Soonyoung tugged on the metal door and led the way down another corridor that looked exactly the same as the one that had led into the mascot room. This one, though, had a sharp right turn before leading down a while to another steel door.
But as you were walking down the hallway, you heard the yells and screams of your three friends. All of you turned on a dime and ran back toward the mascot room but the metal door was already closed and wouldnât re-open for some reason. All of you were yelling and trying to open the door until you heard a sickening crunch, and then silence.
You all fell silent. You didnât know what to do now.
âWe--â Jihoonâs voice cracked so he cleared his throat. âWe should just...keep going...â
Following behind Jihoon, you all turned one by one and went back down the hallway. You turned the corner and walked down that long hallway toward another metal door.
But this door didnât budge.
Jihoon groaned in frustration as he tugged at the handle over and over again, âYouâve gotta be fucking kidding me; whatâs with these doors?!â
Mingyu squeezed between bodies to get to the door, trying to open it as the group just shouted for him to be faster.
âWe might have to just...face these things,â Chan said. âOnce and for all.â
âYeah? How?â Wonwoo scoffed. âTheyâll crush us in seconds.â
âThereâs fou-- nine of us, and four of them. We might have a shot.â
âWell hurry up and decide so we can at least put the strongest up against them first,â Junhui called.

âMingyu, keep trying the door!â you called to him. âWeâll try to hold them back.â
âWe?!â Seungkwan repeated.
Mingyu continued to try to pull the door open as the animatronics slowly turned the corner and began walking toward the nine of you. You werenât sure how to prepare yourself for this at all, but you knew you couldnât just turn your back and die.
But you shouldâve known what would happen. Four giant machines up against eight fleshy humans who were nowhere near as strong. Sure, all of you were faster than them, but how could you dodge or run in such a narrow hallway? You were doomed from the start.
Well, not you specifically.
Seungcheol had shoved you to the back toward Mingyu, promising to keep you safe. So your friends all died in front of you, and all you could do was stand there and watch in horror.
Thatâs when Bongbong closed in on you.
âI got the--!â
Mingyuâs exclamation of finally getting the door open was cut off by Bongbongâs arm swinging out and clotheslining him into the wall and cutting off his oxygen.Â
The attack that was meant for you, but you had ducked underneath.
The light flooded into the corridor, and just like that, the animatronics just shut down. The light turned off in their eyes, and they were frozen with their hands reaching out for you.
Except Bongbongâs arm that was now frozen in place, keeping Mingyu strangled against the wall.Â
You could hear Mingyu gasping for air as you slowly opened your eyes that youâd squeezed shut when you ducked. You looked up and saw the animatronics were lifeless now, and then you shot up and turned to try to help Mingyu. You pulled and pulled on Bongbongâs arm while you had to watch Mingyu slowly die. It was like watching a movie in slow motion, the way his body went limp and the life drained from his eyes. Still, you stood there and sobbed and told him youâd free him as you continued to pull uselessly at the animatronic.
When it finally set in that you didnât stand a chance, you ran out the back parking lot where the door opened to. You ran out of the park and to your car -- which was still parked near the other 3 that belonged to your friends that were no longer with you -- and drove off toward home with tears still streaming down your face.
The clock on your car radio said 6:08am.

âThe doorâs useless!â you cried. âWeâre not going to just turn our backs and die. Thatâs not how I wanna go out.â
Nobody had any faith, but they knew you were right. Laying down and dying after all of this wasnât worth it. If you died, at least you would die fighting.
But you shouldâve known what would happen. Four giant machines up against nine fleshy humans who were nowhere near as strong. Sure, all of you were faster than them, but how could you dodge or run in such a narrow hallway? You were doomed from the start.

âThe door will work!â you swore âLike the basement, remember? Just keep trying!â
Sure, this was different in the way that you had to pull and not push, but it had to give eventually, right?
You continued to face the animatronics that were now starting to close in on all of you. Seungcheol tried to squeeze in besided Mingyu, grabbing the handle and pulling with him. Jihoon crawled between Mingyuâs legs and stood in between the taller boyâs arms, both of his hands wrapped around the handle and tugging with everything he had.
You moved to put yourself in front of your friends. You got all of them into this mess, so you deserved to be the first to die.
As Bongbong closed in on you, you closed your eyes.
â_____--!â
The darkness you saw behind your eyelids suddenly seemed brighter, and you felt a gust of wind from behind you.
There was a couple seconds of silence.
âHoly shit,â Minghao breathed.
You opened one eye just enough to see Bongbongâs face just inches from yours. But...why were the lights in its eyes off?
You opened your eye wider. Then the other one. Its arm was only a hair away from you, but it made no move to actually touch you. There was also light flooding into the corridor from behind you. You whipped your head around to see the door was open, and you looked back at four animatronics. Were they off now?
âOh my god,â you sighed in a shaky voice, taking a step backward toward the door.
âLetâs get the fuck out of here,â Wonwoo said as he grabbed your hand and all but dragged you out the door.
The door opened to the back of the parking lot. All of you ran as fast as you could toward your cars, only stopping at the hood of the closest one to catch your breath. Seungcheol pulled out his phone.
âItâs 6am,â he reported.
âMaybe thatâs why the door didnât open,â Wonwoo panted, hands on his knees.
âI donât care to speculate,â Jihoon said as he went to get into one of the four cars. âTake me the fuck home.â

You werenât sure what to do about the texts from the group chat when you got home. You swore everyone was dead. You watched them die in front of you.
Soonyoung said he was tripping balls the whole night.
Jeonghan agreed, saying he was sure there was something in the air making them hallucinate.
Even Jihoon was saying something weird had happened that night, because he thought he saw everyone die.
So...maybe they were right?
But when you inevitably went to school Halloween day, something didnât seem right. Maybe it was because you hadnât slept all night and you were drained in every sense, or maybe it was because you were convinced all of your friends had died right before your very eyes, but everything felt...off. At least, your friends did. It was their smiles and their voices and their hugs and laughs and promises that everything was fine, but something about it seemed alien to you.Â
Maybe it was from how emotionally and mentally drained you were, and the fact you didnât get any sleep, but you swore there was an odd glow to their eyes that wasnât just the glimmer of the florescents.
And why did Junhui wink at you?

Get dressed.
Brush your teeth.
Brush your hair.
Go downstairs and converse with your parents.
Drive to school.
Say hello to your friends.
Laugh at what Soonyoung said.
Promise to walk to class with Seokmin and Seungcheol after you go to the bathroom.
Go into the bathroom.
Use the mirror to fix your outfit.
Use your fingers to brush through your hair one more time.
A light reflects off the mirror.
You are the only one in the bathroom.

(NOTE: i know some people mightâve only had josh die while other had more people die. so this part will mention multiple people who didnât make it home but i will only mention josh by name. sorry if it seems kind of confusing)
You didnât even want to go back home after everything that happened. But you needed to shower and change, so you dropped your friends off before going home. After getting out of the shower, you checked your phone. Your heart dropped and your stomach was doing flips at what it saw.
One series of texts was from a group chat that was all of the people you were positive made it home from Caratland. All of them were wondering what the fuck was going on.
The other was the original group chat, with a text from Joshua asking if everyone made it home okay. It made a shiver go down your spine. How could he be texting? He died.
Those that had died started having a conversation about hallucinating, insisting something weird mustâve been in the air to make everyone trip and see things that didnât actually happen. Nobody knew if it was possible. Minghao suggested that at this point, anything was possible. But still, why did all of you have the same hallucination?
The group decided it was best to ignore the message.
When Wonwoo offered to give you a ride to school, you said yes.
The two of you walked to homeroom together and saw the usual group of your friends sitting at the left side of the classroom. But seeing the friends you thought had died now just sitting there like nothing happened made your skin crawl. You wanted to turn around and walk out.
Wonwoo squeezed your hand and continued forward.
You sat and chatted with the group, and everyone seemed to be dancing around the fact that things were...weird. Maybe it was because you hadnât slept all night and you were drained in every sense, or maybe it was because you were convinced all of your friends had died right before your very eyes, but everything felt...off. At least, your friends did. It was their smiles and their voices and their hugs and laughs and promises that everything was fine, but something about it seemed alien to you.

2:41
After your overtime shift at the café, you head back to your apartment to grab your textbooks. Finals were approaching, and there is no doubt that you were stressed. You need to, not only pass in your exams, but also excel in all of them to get at least a 3.8 GPA, and this is the only acceptable grade for you if you wanted to get accepted into a medical school.
So, studying has been your number one priority for the past couple of days. You and Vernon, your study buddy, have been in and out of the campus library to do nothing else but study. And thatâs where youâre heading again.Â
âIâm almost there,â you manage to say, panting, while jogging towards the library where an impatient Vernon was waiting. For what felt like three weeks of jogging, the familiar building finally came in sight. There were countless students, some whose faces youâve seen before, were making their way in--probably has the same reason as you. With this many students going there to study, you knew there would be competition in getting the tables and booths first, and you mentally scold yourself for arriving late.Â
âCan you be any slower?â Vernon rolls his eyes teasingly, earning him a light punch on the shoulder from you. The two of you head in and look for available spots. You checked the first floor, but they were all packed. As well as the second, third and fourth floor. Your legs felt like they were about to fall off, tired and numb from climbing an endless amount of stairs. Not to mention, you were also carrying textbooks thatâs equivalent to the weight of three elephants stacked together in your bag, and you say that with no exaggeration.
âThereâs one,â he points to an empty desk just by the window. As you are walking, from the side of your eye, you see another group of students pointing at it and making their way. You increase your speed, dragging Vernon behind you, so that you could get there first before they could. Fortunately, just before they got there, you slapped your hand on the table.Â
âScram, freshmans,â you growled and Vernon crosses his arms, smirks. The group of friends roll their eyes before they walk away, and you smile in victory. Some would say your actions were a little immature, especially that comment you made, but you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. Afterwards, you and Vernon take your seats, and start your hours of studying.Â

Opening the door to the apartment, you were surprised to see Jeonghan sitting on your couch, watching the television. You walk behind him and snake your hands around his shoulders, wrapping him in a warm hug, and nuzzle your head between his neck.Â
âAnother long day at the library?â He caresses your hands and you nod in response. âHave you eaten?â he asks. You remove your hands and walk around the couch. You lay down and place your head on his lap. âI can make you something if you want,â he offers.Â
âWill you?â you look at him, smiling. Youâve never really imagined Jeonghan cooking before. You donât even know if he knows how to. But you werenât going to turn down his generous offer to cook for you, whatever the result may be.
Jeonghan stands up and heads to the kitchen, and you watch him from the couch. He opens the cupboards, takes out the pan and places it on the stove. He then opens the fridge, looking for anything he can cook. To your surprise, he takes out a bag with a logo of your favourite restaurant.Â
You cock your head to the side as your eyebrows meet. âI thought you were going to cook for me. Thatâs take out.â You stated, pointing at the bag he was holding. âI am going to cook. Iâm gonna heat it up. That counts,â Jeonghan looks at you and gives you a smile that displays his teeth. Disbelief is all you feel. You scoff at his reply, and feeling too tired to argue, you lay back down.Â
Jeonghan has been nothing but supportive these past couple of days. When you and Vernon were at the library, he would drop by to give you two snacks and drinks. Sometimes, like today, he would use the spare keys you gave him to enter your apartment to clean up so you wouldnât do it when you get home. Embarrassed, you told him to stop cleaning your mess, but he said it wasnât a big deal and that he didnât want you to come home to such an unkempt apartment--the unorganized sight causes more stress, he adds.
You were grateful for everything Jeonghan has done, yes. But you canât help but think of one specific person who used to do the same. Who used to tell you to eat before you go to bed, who reminded you to drink water, who reassured you that you would pass your exams, and who comforted you when things didnât turn out the way you hoped for. Joshua has never left your mind since he went away. Often, you wondered what he might be doing and where he might be. Youâve had multiple urges to send him a text or ring his phone to check up on him, but you thought he might want some space. You knew he would come back when heâs ready, and you were willing to move on from the past and start anew with him. Gosh, you miss him.
âMind telling me whatâs in that pretty head of yours?â Jeonghan disrupts your thoughts as he walks towards you, holding a plate. He sits down and offers his free hand to help you up. You grab his hand and use your abdominal muscle to sit up.Â
He hands you the plate and you take it from him, and immediately, the aroma makes your mouth salivate. âMhmm,â you murmured, âthis looks delicious. Thank you, Han.âÂ
Your boyfriend nods and urges you to take a bite. So you did.Â
âWhat about you,â you ask after swallowing your first bite.Â
âIâm okay, babe. Just eat, hmm?â Jeonghan smiles while reaching his hand to your face to tuck your hair behind your ear. You felt bad that you were the only one eating, so you feed him. At first he refused, but quickly cave in when you pouted.Â
The two of you sat on your couch, taking turns to feed each other. Sometimes, he would follow up a bite with a soft peck or two--he called it a quick served dessert. You rolled your eyes at his corny remark, but you couldnât hide the rosy tint on your cheeks as the blood rushes through them.
Jeonghan absolutely loved spending these little moments with you. No words can ever explain the feelings he gets when he hears your laughter--your smile alone is enough to make his heart melt as if it was ice cream under a fifty degree celsius summer day. He would not exchange this moment for anything else. There is nothing he wants more than to spend time with the person he loves most.Â
After your meal, you head to the kitchen and quickly wash the dishes before going back to sit with Jeonghan. You plop yourself beside him and he takes his arm and wraps it around your shoulder. You do the same as you snake both your arms around his waist and rest your head on his chest, where the sound of his heartbeat is clear and audible. You donât know if you just really love to hear his heart beat because you love him, or if itâs because of your longing profession of becoming a doctor. You think itâs a combination of both.Â
âWhat should we watch?â Jeonghan asks as he flips through shows and movies available on netflix. You shrugged your shoulders and told him you were okay with any. Soon, the two of you settled with Greyâs Anatomy--a show you absolutely loved. Jeonghan was never a fan of medical shows or whatsoever, but if his girl was going to be a doctor, heâll have to get familiar with some terminologies, right?Â
Three episodes have passed and the two of you were still in the same position as before, cuddled on the couch. You were still watching intently, but you were not so sure about Jeonghan though. Not seeing his face, you guess that he probably fell asleep when you guys were just halfway through the first episode. You didnât mind though. He deserved to rest.Â
However, your guess was proven wrong when you suddenly feel his kiss at the top of your head, causing you to giggle. He did it again, and again, and again, each lasting longer than the previous one, and moving lower and lower. Kissing as a form of affection has become a normal thing between the two of you now. But this time, Jeonghanâs kisses feel more than just affection.
Images in your head started popping in, making your heart rate increase and your breathing pattern to change.Â
âYn,â Jeonghan softly whispers to your ears, making your insides churn, âare you okay?â
Fuck it.Â
You unwrap your arms from his body and take your hands straight to cup his face, taking him by surprise. You close your eyes and lean in to kiss his lips. He freezes for ma second but quickly melts right into the kiss. He uses his hands to take hold of your waist and pulls you in front of him. You oblige and place your knees on either side of his lap.
You detach yourself to catch your breath, but your eyes remained closed as you relinquished the taste of his lips. He did the same, but eager to taste your lips once again, he leans in and kisses you, quite roughly this time. He takes his right hand and places it at the back of your neck, guiding you as the two of you made out on your couch.Â
âYou still have extra clothes here, right?â You ask between your kisses. Jeonghan doesn't respond, and instead kisses you harder. Soon, he trails kisses from your lips to the side if your neck. Whispers escape you lips as you cock your head to the side to give him more room.
This night is going to be long.Â

Hi, you could do: Fem! Reader x Eric (or neutral gender) where the reader is temperamentally similar to Eric and is not afraid to challenge him, this intigrates him, and leads him to flirt with the reader (possible smut);
Closer
Reader Gender: Female
Fandom: Divergent
Pairing: Eric x Reader
Warnings: Violence, (slightly rough) smut
Word Count: ~5.000
A/N: I should actually study for my masterâs exam, but well⊠here I am. I rewrote a draft I had on my computer for 6 years, and I hope this is kind of what you wanted!  It is also past 1 am now, so.. yea.
Also thanks for my first request :D Also, pro-tip: donât write smut while continuing to listen to your classical music study playlist, that really does not convey the mood! (even though Johann Strauss slaps!)
âAlright, listen up!â Ericâs loud voice echoed through the training halls, strong and confident as usually, attracting the attention of the initiates around him. The teenagers stopped their various exercises, looking over to the leader, some curious, some with a worried expression on their faces. Eric was standing by the door, next to you and Four.
You stepped forward slightly, as the initiates jogged over to the three of you, gathering around you. You raised your voice.
âMy name is Y/N! Iâm head of the weapon development and weapon repair team here at Dauntless, and for the next few days I will be your instructor for correct weapon handling and weapon training. Of course, you already had some shooting lessons since your arrival, but frankly, they are not.. to my standards.â You crossed your arms behind your back, ignoring the low snort of Four behind you.
âIâd suggest you lot pay close attention, because incorrect handling of some of the weapons we use will lead to injury, and in the worst-case death.â
There was a murmur going through the initiates, but it stopped when you glared at the few who had dared to talk to each other. You knew how you appeared to them, what impression you made on them, and used it to your advantage.
âOver the course of the next week I will show you how to use, dismantle, reload, clean and repair the different kind of guns and firearms we use here at Dauntless. Donât underestimate the importance of these lessons, they will be crucial in your later life. If you have any problems or questions, never hesitate to ask.â
You paused for a moment, mustering the faces of the initiates in front of you, most of them staring back with curious and interested expressions. You still remembered being one of them, although you had been a Dauntless born.
âIn the future, if you have any troubles with your rifles, our workshop is where you drop by to get it fixed. If you make it through initiation, that is.â Your eyes wandered over to the ranking board, and you noticed how the group in front of you visibly tensed up. You turned around to Eric and Four, nodding at them before facing the teenagers again. âWe will soon all go up to the shooting range, to start your training. But first we will go over theory.â
You walked towards the door, picking up two large cases standing next to it, returning to the initiates where you put them on a large Table the other instructors had carried into the training halls earlier.
With trained fingers you opened the cases, revealing an array of different types of handguns.
âToday we will work with pistols. Good for close combat and handy in urban situations. Best choice if you find yourself in the ruins, dealing with factionless.â You started, taking one of the weapons out of the case.
âDo we really need to know all that?â someone of the group suddenly asked after you had started to explain the mechanisms of the weapon, and you looked up, your eyes fixating him. He flinched, raising his shoulders a bit defensively.
âStep forward.â You said, quickly loading two pistols with munition. The boy was pale as a corpse, when he slowly came forward, the rest of the group holding their breath.
You took one of the pistols, you knew this model very well, purposely inserting the magazine in a way, you knew it always jammed. You pushed the weapon into the boyâs hand, taking the other pistol and aiming it directly at the initiateâs head.
âYou are out, patrolling. You get separated from your group, and are faced with a bunch of factionless who have nothing to lose. One point a gun at you, ready to fire, because believe it or not, they get their hands on firearms. You did not pay attention when you learned how to handle weapons properly, and your handgun jams. What do you do now?â you asked, tilting your head. The boy was shaking. âTen..â
Panic appeared in the initiateâs eyes, and he looked down, trying to un-jam it, trying anything. The magazine was not moving and he could not pull the trigger either.
 âNine.â
âI canât, oh god, Iâm sorry.â He looked as if he was about to cry.
 âEight.â
He continued to struggle and you continued to count down, taking a step forward, the cold metal of your gun now touching his forehead.
None of the other initiates was talking, although you saw pure panic in their eyes. One almost looked as if she was about to say something stupid, but a raised eyebrow from you and an intervening friend apparently stopped her from opening her mouth.
âThree. Two. One.â You raised your gun at the ceiling, firing a shot. The boy in front of you flinched and fell to the floor, apparently half thinking you actually shot him.
âSee, without âall thatâ, youâd be dead. So pay attention.â You took the gun from his hand, showing everyone a quick trick to unjam it, before returning to the table. You noticed how the other instructors looked at you, Four with supressed shock, and Eric with not so supressed amusement. He seemed almost impressed.
âWhere were I..?â You asked rhetorically, before resuming your theoretical instruction.
As you continued to explain the different models you had brought with you to the group in front of you, telling them how to load, unload and dismantle them, the other instructors were standing behind you in silence.
âAnd always, always, at least five times, check if your gun is unloaded before you clean it!â you said, glaring at a brown haired boy, called Peter if you remembered correctly, who snorted at your remark. Â
âYou laugh, but I had a fair share of stupid friends who shot themselves because they were too lazy to check, completely sure it was unloaded. You might survive a pistol, but if it happens to be a shotgun and, say, you shoot yourself here..â you pointed at your hip. âTrust me, you wonât have any children in the future.â
The boy turned a bit pale, and others around him started to giggle. You smirked, turning back to the table.
âPlease build teams of two, weâre going to go up to the shooting range now. Take turns in shooting, and every fifteen minutes or so we will swap guns, so everyone gets at least one shot out of every different type. You will unload, reload and shoot. If a weapon jams, you tell me, and I will demonstrate for the group how to deal with that. Any questions?â
No one seemed to have any questions, so you packed up the guns, while Eric and Four lead the group up to the shooting range. You followed them, handing out the guns at the roof top, while Eric and Four distributed the ammunition among the initiates.
You usually were not the person to do the weapon training, but Max had politely forced you to do it this year. You were one, if not the best in handling the firearms used in Dauntless, able to repair every single gun your faction used in your sleep.
It was your passion and your hobby, and you were glad that you had been good enough at initiation to work as what you wanted. Your mother had also been a weapon tech, and you always wanted to do the same.
You watched the other two instructors oversee the shooting. They had been in the same year as you, both transfers while you were Dauntless born. They were right at the top, and you right behind, being fourth in the ranking. Involuntary your eyes stuck onto Eric, who had crossed his arms in front of his chest, while mustering one of the transfers loading a handgun.
You had to admit, Eric was one of a kind. Incredibly handsome, strong, dominant and rough, also often cruel and arrogant. Dauntless though and through, although he still had some Erudite inside of him. He looked very different now, from the blue-clad boy who had arrived at Dauntless years ago.
He had something fascinating about him. His strong arms and muscular legs were also quite nice to look at. Eye candy, one could say.
Shortly before lunch every group had fired every kind of weapon, and you packed up, checking if the guns really were unloaded, before putting them back in their cases.
âHow are they holding up?â you looked up, seeing Eric standing next to you, his hands casually on his hips, while looking at the group of initiates, who slowly dissolved, and headed for the stairs leading down back into the building.
âTheyâre not too bad.â You admitted, closing the case in front of you. âSome are actually quite good.â Then you thought about that one girl, Tris her name was if you remembered correctly, who manage to hit the target only once. âOthers maybe not so.â
Eric chuckled looking back at you, and you noticed his eyes wander over your body.
âYea, but they will get cut anyways.â He shrugged.
âStill donât really get the âcutâ thing.â You sighed, pricking up the cases from the table, one in each hand. âIf thatâs the new way of handling the weaklings, we will soon run out of janitors and kitchen staff, not to mention be overflown by angry factionless. There are enough of those poor sods as it is.â
âWell, we are not Abnegation to hand out charity. If they want to be in Dauntless, they have to be good enough.â Eric crossed his arms in front of his chest.
âThey chose our way of life. They chose to be here. I think that is proof enough. And some take longer to be their best.â You shrugged. âI think changing the rules is a stupid arse decision, and we will have to face the consequences sooner than later.â
You turned away, making your way down to the arsenal, located right next to your workshop, to put the guns away. Eric just stared after you, a frown on his face.
The next week was full of tutoring the transfers in handling everything from standard rifles to flame throwers and shotguns. Once you had made Peter shoot an apple off of the head of one of his friends, as he had been too cocky about his abilities for your taste.
âYou really think youâre the best shot? Proof it!â
After that he had kept his big mouth shut, and the initiates were now completely sure that you were not to be fucked with. It was the perfect balance of them having respect for you to not act foolishly, but also having enough trust to ask you if something was unclear, or if they had any problems. You also helped the ones low in ranking, empathising a bit more what they had to do, to give them a better chance at making it. The cut really was a shit decision, but Max had refused to change the rules, even when you had yelled at him.
There were also many weird and casual after-work conversations with Eric while you packed up. Before this week you had never really talked, and only ever seen each other a few times while he had been training to be an instructor and leader.
You sometimes even thought he tried to.. flirt? Complimenting you handling the weapons and initiates. He wasnât very good at it, though.
Still, he was intelligent and quite interesting, and the conversations were never boring.
 ----
âIs there something going on between Y/N and Eric?â Christina asked frowning, turningher head to Tris, who mustered the two instructors standing at the table. Over the past week they had always seemed to talk to each other after training, and most of them had noticed how Eric stared at her, when he thought no-one was looking.
âI donât know, but he seems to like her?â Tris shrugged.
----
It was about two weeks later, quite late, and you had just returned from the wall, where you had overseen the installation of a kind of gatling gun, after a few factionless had attacked an Amity caravan. It only shot non-lethal ammunition, like the nerve agents used for training, mimicking the pain of a real gun shot.
The government had decided that you should not aim to kill the factionless, but scare them away. Pointless, you thought, as you knew if they were desperate enough they would go there anyways.
You were sitting in the mess hall, eating a late dinner, when you noticed the door open. Eric entered, wearing just a t-shirt and combat trousers, smiling when he spotted you. You raised an eyebrow at him, but continued to eat.
Eric came over to your table, sitting down in front of you casually.
âHeard you were back.â He said.
âSeems so.â Was everything you answered.
âHow did it go?â he asked, grabbing your glass and taking a sip of your water, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. You blinked a few times at him, but he just chuckled. âYou want to grab a drink, or are you too tired?â
Was he.. asking you out? It was hard to tell with him. But his smile seemed sincere, not like the one his initiates received.
âIf youâre buying. Sure, why not.â You smirked. âWait in the pit, Iâll join you in a bit.â
âAnd how do I know youâll come?â Eric leaned forward a bit, his eyes fixed on yours. There was a provocative smile on his lips.
âWell, you have to take the risk, no?â you quickly raised your eyebrows once, before breaking eye contact and resuming your dinner. Eric chuckled again.
âOk.â He said, before he got up, leaving the mess hall, not looking back at you.
You had to grin and bite your tongue. You had not really thought that you were Ericâs type. You had thought that he would be into women he could easily handle, that were just pretty and would hang on his arm while he was in the pit. But it seemed more as if he wanted someone who was his equal in ability, skill and intelligence, someone he could always compete with. Something like a fun, sexy rivalry. And if you were honest, that sounded really, really fun.
You certainly didnât hurry to finish your dinner, and bringing the dishes back to the kitchen. You also headed back to your apartment for a quick shower and to change your clothes, putting on a tank top and combat trousers which looked really good on you, and styling yourself up a bit.
Finally, you made your way to the pit, which was filled with people. Dauntless members and initiates mingled together, it was noisy and as always full of life. You waved a friend you spotted a bit to the side, but made your way to the bar at the bottom, hoping to find Eric there. It was a bit hard to see him in the mass of moving bodies, even with his tall height.
You leaned against the bar, letting your eyes wander through the crowd. Had you taken too long? Had he already gone? Maybe he hadnât been that interested after all.
But your worries were blown away jut a moment later, when you noticed Eric approach you, making his way through the crowd of people. He had not changed, but he also had already looked great.
A smirk was on his handsome face, and he leaned against the bar next to you, so close that your arm was touching his.
âYou look good.â He said into your ear, having to bend down a bit.
âWorth the wait?â you shot back.
âWorth the wait!â he chuckled. âWhat do you like to drink?â
 ----
Eric ordered drinks from the man at the bar, leaning against it sideways so that his front was facing Y/N. He was very obviously flirting with her, but she seemed to also enjoy it a lot.
âI donât know why, but seeing them together like this makes me super uneasy.â Christina shuddered a bit.
âWhy?â Will frowned at his girlfriend.
âI donât know they are both so.. scary.â The girl looked at her friends. âDonât you think? The meanest people in Dauntless being all flirty.â She obviously had not forgotten Eric throwing her down the chasm, or Y/N pretending to shoot an initiate.
 Tris chewed her lips.
âEven scary people should be happy.â She finally said, causing the others to laugh.
âSeriously? Can you imagine them together? The next round of initiates will all either die or end up factionless.â Chris looked over to them again, seeing Y/N sipping her drink, and Eric laughing. His arm was positioned behind her on the bar now. âYuck.â
----
âI tried to hit him, but he shot me in the leg first, hurt like a bitch.â Eric shook his head, and you noticed his fingers carefully stroking your back. A shiver ran down your spine, the good kind.
âMaybe I should teach you how to shoot then. Didnât know you were so bad at it.â You bit your tongue, before downing the rest of you drink.
Eric gaped for a moment, probably unsure if he should be mad or not. Finally, he just chuckled, nodding.
âYea, maybe a private lesson is what I need.â He grinned. He raised his glass, taking a sip.
âIf you need instructions how to use your weapon properly, we can start tonight, my place.â
Eric choked on his drink, turning away when it shot out of his nose. He put the glass down onto the bar, grabbing a napkin from behind it to wipe his face, all the while unable to stop laughing.
âFuck, Y/N!â he growled. You had to laugh too, pushing yourself away from the bar.
âThe offer stands.â You winked, making your way through the crowd and towards the corridors, leading to the living area of Dauntless.
You had just entered the corridor, when suddenly a hand grabbed your arm and turned you around. Before you could really react, Eric pressed you against a wall, his hands on your waist, his lips on yours.
You immediately returned the kiss, opening your mouth a bit to deepen it, exploring Ericâs mouth with your tongue. You honestly didnât give a shit that you were still kind of in the pit, with everyone able to see you. Both of you were known and quite prominent figures in Dauntless, so you already knew that there would be a lot of gossip, but you didnât really care.
Everything that was important now was Eric, and the kiss you shared. It was a pity that his hair was so short, you really wouldâve liked to pull it. You ran your hands over his broad chest, before pushing him away.
He looked a bit startled, but relaxed seeing your grin.
âI said my place. Not any place, Eric.â With that you turned around again, walking on and towards your apartment. Eric was right beside you, his hands snaking around your hips.
Even though you made sure that he would not see it, you were very excited in this moment. Eric was not only insanely attractive, but you also grew to like him a lot. You would not even mind for this to.. become more. More than just a hook up.
You finally reached your apartment door, and you tipped your personal code into the pad next to the door. As soon as you were in and the door was shut behind you, Eric was on you again, his hands wrapped around your waist, kissing you passionately.
With uncoordinated hands you grabbed his shirt, pulling it over his head in a swift move. The tattoos on his neck stood in stark contrast to his skin, and you could not hold back but to kiss them, before strongly biting into it.
Eric growled, lifting you up with his arms, and you wrapped your legs around his hip. Apparently he had seen the open door to your bedroom, as he started to slowly walk over there, while you still attacked his neck.
He pushed you off of him, right onto your bed. Instead of following you though, he got down onto his knees, opening your boots and pulling them off. You just let him go to work, interested what he was planning. Your shoes were followed by your socks, and he also made quick work of his own. Then he climbed onto the bed, looming over you, before kissing you again.
âHow thoughtful.â You murmured against his lips. He did not answer, only bit you into your bottom lip, hard enough to hurt but not hard enough to break skin. You moaned against his mouth, hands running over his exposed chest. Ericâs hands ran underneath your tank top, taking it off quickly, his hands running over your torso.
The kiss was passionately and intense. Literally breath-taking , and you had to push Eric away to get some air. He only used the break to kiss your neck, moving downwards your body. Your nails dragged along his back, when you felt his fingers move underneath your sports-bra, pulling it off just like your tank top.
Eric leaned back, taking a moment to muster you. Lust was in his eyes, and he licked his lips as he looked at your exposed skin.
âLike what you see?â you teased, wiggling your eyebrows.
âOh, Y/N, you have no idea.â And with that he was over you again, one hand supporting himself on the bed while the other one moved to your breasts. You gasped against his mouth as he kissed you once more, his taste intoxicating. Maybe that was also the whiskey he had ordered at the bar, you were not quite sure.
Your hands moved own his chest and stomach, opening the fly of his trousers. You were really glad he wasnât wearing a blet, you were really not in the mood to fiddle with that.
Eric groaned when you pushed your hand into his underwear, a grin appearing on your face when you found his member already fully erect.
âOh you really like what you see, eh?â you laughed, and Eric growled.
Ericâs hand now moved down your body, opening your trousers with a way too skilled hand. He moved back, grabbing the waistband your trousers and your pants, pulling them down together, leaving you lying on the bed completely naked. You sat up, pulling him back onto the bed, turning the two of you so you were now on top of him.
Eric seemed a bit surprised at that, but rolled with it, a smile on his face as he bit his lip in expectation. Just as he had done with you, you pulled his remaining clothes off, and just had to take a moment to look at him.
Eric was incredibly muscular, and there were tattoos on his stomach and right leg that you had never seen before. They had the same style as the rest, in stark contrast to his skin. He was incredibly attractive, and the piercings above his brow shimmered lightly in the faint light inside of your apartment. You straddled him, moving your head down to kiss him again, your hands finding his hair. It was short, yes, but not too short.
You pulled hard, making him groan, but at the same time buck his hips up. Yea, you could tell he liked it a bit more rough.
âIâm going to make you scream, before Iâm done with you..â he almost hissed against your mouth. You bit his lower lip, unable to supress a grin.
 âLetâs see whoâll scream first.â
With that you moved your lips to his neck, sucking and biting his skin, moving downwards, over his chest and stomach. You bit his hip, so hard that he actually almost shouted, but the twitch of his cock against your chest told you that he enjoyed it.
âIf you bite down there, I swear Y/N, Iâll kill you!â Eric growled and you moved down even further, and you had to laugh.
âIâm mean, but not that mean.â You said, before lowering your head and licking over his erection, enticing a moan out of his mouth. He looked down at you with hungry eyes, clenching his jaw.
Suddenly he sat up, grabbing your shoulders and pushing you onto the mattress, before he rolled over you, his lips finding yours again. His hand moved down and between your legs, the moisture he found there making him groan.
âHow are you so hot, damn.â You barely understood what he was saying, but it didnât even matter, because his fingers quickly found your clit, circling it. You gasped, your nails digging into his shoulders. Eric growled, his fingers moving more quickly, before they suddenly dipped down, pressing into you.
A loud moan left your lips and you rolled your eyes, your hips bucking to meet his fingers.
âEric!â it came out of your mouth, and you moaning his name seemed to turn him on even more. He quickly moved his fingers in and out of you, causing you to clench around him. His thumb was in a position to hit your clit with every thrust, and your nails now were so deep in his shoulders, you knew that even if you didnât draw blood, you would surly leave marks.
Eric kissed and bit your neck, his hand not slowing down.
âDo you have..â he started to murmur into your ear, and you nodded quickly.
âBed.. oh my.. bedside table.â You barely managed to bring out.
âGood.â Eric stopped his movements, his hand gone, and this time it was you who groaned.
Eric laughed, pressing a kiss onto your cheek, which was such a contrast to the otherwise rough actions that you had to raise an eyebrow.
But Eric didnât even notice that, as he had sat up, and opened the drawer of your bedside table, quickly finding what he was looking for.
He opened the shiny package of the condom with his teeth, putting it onto himself. Just as he wanted to crawl over you, you pushed him, so he fell onto his back, climbing on top of him again. This whole thing kind of felt like a battle for dominance, and you really liked that.
Eric just looked at you with hungry eyes, his hands finding your thighs as you straddled him. You bit your lip as you grabbed his cock, guiding it to your entrance, slowly, very slowly lowering yourself onto him.
You closed your eyes, breathing steadily. Eric was.. thick. And stretched you a bit more than you had expected. You had almost expected him to push his hips up, but he kept steady, not moving until you were all the way down. You opened your eyes again, looking down at the man, who started to grin when your eyes met. You grinned back, lifting your hips again, and moving down, this time a bit quicker.
Your started up a hard, even if not so fast pace, and the sound of both of your moans filled the bedroom. You were sure the person in the apartment next to yours was probably able to hear you, but you didnât really care about that.
You leaned back a bit, throwing your head into your neck, your hands on Ericâs strong thighs, supporting yourself. You felt Erics hand run down your torso, before his thumb found your clit again, rubbing it in tandem with your movements. You felt yourself edging more and more towards the end, the feeling of him inside of you and his hands on you was just.. amazing.
âEric..â you moaned again, and just as last time this seamed to turn him on even more. Eric sat up, wrapping an arm around your torso, and supporting your movements, quickening them while his mouth found your neck again.
âY/N!â his voice was coarse and deep and so god damn sexy it drove you insane.
Your hands wandered into his neck, and one into his hair, pulling it strongly, so his head was back in his neck. You moved your head to kiss him, all tongue and teeth, uncoordinated but extremely erotic.
When you let go of his hair he rolled the two of you over once more, him now over you again. Eric sat up a hard and quick pace, his hand automatically finding your clit and rubbing it just as fast. You moaned loudly, arching your back as you felt your orgasm draw nearer and nearer.
Ericâs face was next to your ear, and you heard him moan and that was what finally pushed you over the edge. You came hard, your legs wrapping around Ericâs waist and you clenching around his cock. Your moan was loud, but nothing compared to Eric. One, two more thrusts, and he collapsed on top of you, breathing hard and fast.
âShit.â He murmured, before rolling off of you.
âI won. You screamed.â You laughed breathlessly, and he chimed in.
 âOh fuck off.â
