Ahsoka Tano: Marvel verse Born: 1967, August 14th Childhood: -Between ages 0-14: The mutant daughter of the ambassador from India to the United States Pav-ti Tano was her mother, and her father Nak-il Tano of Ghanaian-Indian decent, was a Ghanaian Military General, and head of Upon finding out that Ahsoka's uncle, her father's brother, had been promoted to the head of Ghana's Weapon X program, Ahsoka's parents discussed how to best protect their daughter and decided that Ahsoka's mother should take her on a journey, knowing that the X-gene was in her genetics. They stopped at many temples of different beliefs, Hindu, Yogi, Buddhist, Tibetan Buddhist, and Taoist, to name a few, trying to help teach Ahsoka how to better control herself, just in case her X-gene would activate. Her uncle would eventually pursue Ahsoka and her mother, finding them in Shinto temple in Kyoto, Japan, while trying to learn the secrets of the ancient Onmyoji. Ahsoka's uncle, using a strike team of mutants from his program killing Ahsoka's father in front of her and her mother, but Ahsoka's mother helped her escape. They made it to Nepal, but they were pursued by the strike team who killed Ahsoka's mother when they caught up to the mother and daughter. This was all by the age of three, and this stress at such a young age caused Ahsoka's mutation to activate. A blast of emotional energy erupted from Ahsoka, causing the strike team to fly back, with force of an explosion, and become irrationally afraid, feeling Ahsoka's fear. A nearby passing monk saw the confrontation and took Ahsoka to the Kamar Taj, where she was trained to better control her psychic abilities. Over time white tendrils, with blue tiger-like markings, grew from her head, replacing her hair, giving Ahsoka the ability of echo location and being able to see people even within pitch black lighting, she learned to hone her psychic abilities and could sense those around her through telepathic and Psychic Empathic abilities.

Next, I’d like to ask about the word “dream”. Sakurai-san has also sung about all types of dreams in in the past, but it’s rare that you would pen a phrase like, “chasing things like dreams (夢なんて追いかけて/yume nante oikakete)”.

S: Right, we started the band together but for some reason, I myself didn’t really have any goals. I was going along without specific goals like knowing what we wanted to become, or wanting to perform at a particular venue. Just happy to be able to transiently enjoy each day, firing up the audience even with shitty performances. There was a negligent and carefree part of me that didn’t care about the future as long as I could spend another night like that. I guess I genuinely thought having fun playing music in a band like that was enough. Except, I gradually started to wonder, “So, what am I going to do next?”…… I guess you could say that I finally woke up from a dream (lol).

――Hahahaha.

S: I just suddenly started to wonder, “So what do I want to do?” You know? I thought, if my first phase was me voicing my desire to be a vocalist then I have to move on to the second phase. And that’s my personal desire when it comes to our releases. That kept on sprouting and growing. And I guess I just couldn’t convince myself with the surface-level thing anymore. Wondering, “What should I myself sing about going forward?” That’s when I felt like I finally woke up from my dream.

――Right now, does Sakurai-san have a dream of your own?

S: Huh?...... Perhaps a peaceful retirement.

――Hahahahaha!　Will that lifestyle involve band activities?

S: Ah, well, perhaps within the realm of “Oh, the weather looks good today, shall we give it a go?” as an elderly man.

――Depending on the weather!

S: Hahahahah. Saying things like, “My leg hurts.’ (Lol) This isn’t something that would make headlines, but I would like to attain happiness as a person.

――Yes. One more thing I would like to bring up is the imagery of “flowers” that come up in the songs Na mo Naki Watashi (I, Nameless), Ai no Harem (Harem of Love), and Campanella  Hanataba wo Kimi ni (Campanella  A Bouquet For You). It’s something that appears to symbolise life and peace, and also love.

S: Yes. I, as a man who’s over 50 years of age, actually like flowers a lot.

He’s a bit annoyed at first since he likes to keep a clean look going but if you really feel that you “have” to draw on him, then he’ll let you.

He prefers if you doodle on his forearms or upper arms. Hands are a no go for work reasons.

One of the times that he was getting ready to “take care of someone” in his torture room he had a bit of an awkward situation because of it. Essentially, the person in question went from looking mortified to confused as he saw the little doodle on his upper arm from underneath his button up. Obviously this is quickly forgotten when some fingers were taken off but it got him thinking.

He’s used to your doodles that he doesn’t even notice them all too much. That is until one day when he notices a specific one.

He feels oddly proud and happy when he sees it. So, he decides to get it professionally tattooed to surprise you.

He’ll start walking around with his sleeves rolled up and let you draw more. Might even let you draw on his knuckles.

Naki

He’s kind of confused at first but once he sees that you’re just doodling cute designs on him, he wholeheartedly encourages it!

He’ll start carrying pens around when you’re together so that you can draw on him. As this goes on he’ll go ahead and get you those tattoo pens so that your designs will last longer.

He knows that the tattoo pens are better to have on your skin but he loves gel pens. He’s got a drawer full of glitter and rainbow gel pens. There’s an endless supply.

After a while he’d ask to start doing the same to you. His drawings are a little crude but the little smiling figures, flowers, hearts, and swirls are just too cute.

Like Yamori, he’d probably ask you to design him a tattoo. I can see Naki getting a sleeve done with your art no matter what it is. It’s your art and he loves it just as much as he loves you.

He’d also ask if y’all could doodle something meaningful on each other and then get matching tattoos that way.

He’s a silly guy, he likes silly things, he wants to see your silly drawings. Better yet, draw on him. That way, he can see them all the time!

He really likes ones with little animals like dogs. If you doodle a simple lizard on his hand or leg, he rocks his jorts and your drawings, he will absolutely love it.

He puts smiley faces on your arm sometimes, he’ll be happy if you do the same.

You might even catch him doodling on himself after a while. Heck, you might’ve kick started a whole hobby!

He loves when y’all can draw on each other or even paint on each other.

He scoffs. Just straight up. Does he love you? Yes. Does he want ink all over his “perfect body”? No.

He thinks it’s pointless but he’ll begrudgingly let you when he’s out of his suit. Even then, it’s not very often.

He wants things like eagles, stars, etc. He’d feel a lot of pride if you went ahead and put his name on yourself though.

He’ll start carrying around a small notepad and pen for you when you ask to draw on him. It feels a little hurtful at first but when you open it you see some very reassuring words.

He doesn’t exactly take off his uniform, plus he also doodles frequently! Y’all will probably go back and forth drawing on random slips of paper, note pads, etc.

After you notice him drawing some specific characters, you start drawing ones of your own along with his!

This makes him absolutely elated!

He got an invisible marker for you to draw stuff on his uniform with. He’s got a beaver on his gauntlet now, nobody has to know about that of course.

His friends told him to draw you a picture after he found out that he was going to be gone for a lot longer than he thought he would.

You woke up to a handmade card of the both of you that said “I’ll miss you!” In cursive. He even made sure to draw a little heart with the both of y’all’s initials on your hand.

I’m envisioning it right now. Juuzou-Naki-Kaneki friendship! (...i’m not too far fetched, am i?)

Can you IMAGINE them? Not a brain cell in sight

This would have to happen after ghouls get decriminalized, but these three would make good friends

Juuzou already knows Kaneki since Hide introduced them, and Naki knows Kaneki from ghoul stuff, but Ken made the mistake of hanging around with both of them at the same time and they immediately hit it off

Juuzou is used to humans being creeped out by him for being generally weird, and Naki is used to ghouls not liking him for being over emotional, so they form a strange little bond over it. Naki will loudly and publicly threaten people who are mean to Suzuya

Naki and Juuzou are high empathy and low empathy respectively and when together, they almost balance each other. When one reacts too much or too little to something, the other is socially inept enough to just come right out and say the specific thing the other is doing wrong instead of neurotypically dance around it. Where Ayato would have yelled at Naki, Juuzou just says “When you cry outside people don’t like that so you should do that somewhere else, come on I know an alley,” and that actually works. Shinohara is amazed that he can try to explain that he shouldn’t grab people for days but all it takes is Naki saying “don’t touch unless I say you can or I’ll bite you” for him to get it

When Kaneki is with both of them it’s mostly just him trying to stop them from committing crimes. On their own they’re chaotic enough but together they become a positive feedback loop of bad ideas. On more that one occasion he’s grabbed onto Juuzou’s suspenders and Naki’s belt with his kagune like a leash

It took awhile of hanging out with them for Naki start thinking about how they seem... nicer than Jason. He talked with Ken about Oomori, and they both shared their experiences with him. Turns out he wasn’t good to Naki either, but he was Naki’s first big emotional connection and took advantage of that. Now that he has some better friends, he’s working through that, trying to unpack his time with him and understand what things Jason did that were actually parts of a healthy relationship and which parts were not. Kaneki is pretty good at helping him with it

Naki stims by tapping the tip of Koukaku against surfaces, and Juuzou has picked it up, using pens and sticks in place of the kagune

Ken has been trying to show Naki how to read, but he gets frustrated really easily when he doesn’t understand things so it’s been slow.

Juuzou and Kaneki asked about Naki’s eyeshadow, Juuzou because he doesn’t know what it is and Ken because he doesn’t know how he got it, and finds that apparently he’s been rubbing ink out of old magazines for the pigment. That’s probably not good for his skin so Kaneki got him some cheap makeup so he would at least not give himself dermatitis. The next day Ken finds both Naki and Juuzou wearing it, they boys have a new shared interest and Suzuya keeps looking at himself in reflections because it turns out they can both rock it

1. i think about this tweet more often than i should regarding kokomi. like. jade steel isn’t even made with jade, it’s made of crystal marrow. the same crystal marrow that we’d been harvesting for sayu level-up materials. i have a feeling that kokomi just sits on that knowledge and internally weeps for her god.

2. kokomi has definitely had to make tsuyuko switch posts with naki a few times before. specter eco-management is very important, you know.

3. she’s learned from a very young age to keep her mouth shut on her visions of the future, especially when it comes to relationships. gorou probably has a story or two of a little kokomi looking up at a couple during their wedding and saying “oh...i’m sorry. ):”

4. kokomi’s totally sent letters in to yae publishing when one of the war magazines she’s reading has deployed terrible strategies. this was actually what led her and yae to become pen pals.

5. she initially didn’t want the role of priestess, but she cannot deny that which flows through her veins.

1. itto actually presumes that ms. hina is just gorou in drag, rather than a separate person. he respects the hustle.

2. while itto is very active when awake, he sleeps like the goddamned dead.

3. while he Is a Himbo, he can actually be taught more complex concepts so long as you relate it to something he already knows. he’s also pretty familiar with certain things like death.

4. two words: oni purring.

5. if he was introduced to zhongli and told he was the geo archon, he would call zhongli “boss”.

Hey it's me.... back at it again with dem questions. 1)How do you shade ? 2) Do you know an easy way to draw female human legs?( or legs in general) 3) When did you decided to draw a bunch of comics? 4) ... Now this an important question right here . What brushes do you use?

3) I’ve actually been doing comics for quite a long time. I just kinda started doing them in high school because I liked telling stories. I found it fun and it progressed from there. 

4) The main brush I use for my sketching and lining atm is the Naki PEN. One available for free in the csp assets store. https://assets.clip-studio.com/en-us/detail?id=1787584 All of my other brushes are for the most part ones that come with the program. Like when doing color and such, I’ll use the G-pen. I use this for most of my stuff. Any detail work is just air brushes, blending brushes that are already a part of csp. If I want anything special I just go looking on the asset store and around the internet.  Cool thing with a coming update for clip studio is they are integrating the ability to use photoshop brushes. So that’ll give the possible for even more things. Overall I hope that helps.

I’ve totally binged your blog btw and it’s so fun to read these types of headcanons again - takes me back to the prime days! ;u; so thank you for having this blog exist! Anyways. I know you don’t really do ships- but what ships do you personally like from TG?

woah that's a big compliment anon, thank you so much. There's some really great TG writers about that write analysis and multi-chapter stories... Rather than headcanons about characters liking particular pens lol. I am very happy to hear that this blog is entertaining.

Hmmm, so I'm quite boring with ships, and I think the ones in canon are already quite good. I think Nishiki x Kimi works well, and I'm thrilled that Naki and Miza got together.

Not really a ship, but since Ishida dropped in that Itori was into Uta, I would've loved to have seen more from her perspective. I don't think those two would work together at all - at least not in any healthy sense - but I would've loved to see Itori pining after him. Because I'm cruel I guess.

There are characters that I think post tg:re would want to settle down and get loved up with someone, but i dont ship them with any other tg character if that makes sense. I don't think they'd be compatible with anyone in the storyline.

Welcome to my second post in the Oku no Hosomichi series, in which I read aloud the work in chronological, brief portions and provide backstory necessary to understand the work.

Very early on the twenty-seventh morning of the third moon, under a predawn haze, transparent moon barely visible, Mount Fuji just a shadow, I set out under the cherry blossoms of Ueno and Yanaka. When would I see them again? A few old friends had gathered in the night and followed along far enough to see me off from the boat. Getting off at Senju, I felt three thousands miles rushing through my heart, the whole world only a dream. I saw it through farewell tears.

Classical: 行春や鳥啼魚の目は泪 Romaji: Yuku haru ya / tori naki uo no / me ha namida English: Spring passes / and the birds cry out -- tears / in the eyes of fishes

With these first words from my brush, I started. Those who remain behind watch the shadow of a traveler’s back disappear.

The second year of Genroku, I think of the long way leading into the Northern Interior under Go stone skies. My hair may turn white as frost before I return from those fabled places--or maybe I won’t return at all. By nightfall, we come to Soka, bony shoulders sore from heavy pack, grateful for a warm night robe, cotton bathing gown, writing brush, ink stone, necessities. The pack made heavier by farewell gifts from friends. I couldn't leave them behind.

Continuing on to the shrine at Muro-no-Yashima, my companion Sora said, “This deity, Ko-no-hana Sakuya Hime, is Goddess of Blossoming Trees and also has a shrine at Fuji. She locked herself inside a fire to prove her son’s divinity. Thus her son was called Prince Hohodemi--Born-of-Fire--here in Muro-no-Yashima [Burning Cell]. And that’s why poets here write of smoke, and why the locals despise the splotched konoshiro fish that reeks like burning flesh. Everyone here knows the story.”

Gosh I just love Basho’s writing style so much. It is simple yet captures so much.

Okay, let’s go through things of note, from top to bottom.

1. Tears in the Eyes of Fishes

The haiku that Basho pens at the start of his journey has one of my favorite defunct kanji in it.

Classical: 行春や鳥啼魚の目は泪 Romaji: Yuku haru ya / tori naki uo no / me ha namida English: Spring passes / and the birds cry out -- tears / in the eyes of fishes

The kanji that Basho used for “tears” is no longer used. But I like it better than the current kanji because it is very easy to understand.

Defunct: 泪

The three comma like lines on the left are a radical that represent water. The radical beside it is the kanji for “eye.” so quite literally, it is “the water that comes from eyes.” Very simple and easy to gather meaning. 

Current: 涙

Here we have the same water radical on the left, but the right is the kanji 戻, which means “to return.” However, a deeper dive into the kanji 涙 and its etymology reveals that in this particular kanji, the 戻 radical has the meaning of “a never-ending connection or flow.” Add the water radical, and you have “a never-ending stream of water” to represent “tears.” Pretty convoluted. I vote we go back to 泪 haha. 

2. Genroku Era（元禄時代）

Japanese Eras are such a pain to remember because there are so many. Whenever an emperor changed, the Era changed as well. The Genroku Era was from the ninth month of 1688 through the third month of 1704. The second year of Genroku was 1689. 

The Genroku Era is generally considered to be the Golden Age of the Edo Period. By this point, Japan had been closed off from other countries for nearly a century, there was relative economic stability, and arts and architecture flourished. 

3. Go Stone Skies

Go is a board game invented in China more than 2,500 years ago. Played by two people, the object is to surround more territory than your opponent. You play with white and black stones.

So perhaps the clouds were the color of Go stones, or the way the clouds were spread about looked like a board of Go. 

4. Muro-no-Yashima, Konoha Sakuya Hime

There’s a lot of backstory to this place. 

First off, the shrine that they visit is in current day Tochigi Prefecture, and it still stands to this day. 

Ohmiwa Shrine, Sojamachi, Tochiji Prefecture

It is the oldest jinja in Tochigi. Sadly, as we go through this book we will come to find that many of the temples and shrines that Basho visited along the way have been lost to time. So it is really a treat to know that we can visit the same place that he did so many centuries ago. 

Jinja each house a god. This one houses Konoha Sakuya Hime, which may sound familiar if you have ever played the PS2 game Okami.

But here is a more traditional depiction of her:

As beautiful as the blossoms she patrons. 

Sora, Basho’s travelling companion, kept his own journal and wrote down an additional haiku Basho created upon entering this shrine that was not included in Oku no Hosomichi.

Classical: 糸遊に結つきたる煙哉 Romaji: Itoyuu ni / musubi tsukitaru / keburikana English: Oh, how the smoke interweaves with shimmering steam

(I couldn’t find an English translation so I did my best. Sorry lol.)

In the grounds of this jinja is a pond that emitted steam, which was romanticized as smoke and/or the manifestations of the thoughts of the gods. Many ancient poems had been written about this place before Basho. However, by the late 17th Century, the pond no longer emitted steam. The word 糸遊 (itoyuu, lit. “playing with strings”) is a very old word for the shimmer of a heat mirage. He must have been imagining what it would have been like to see the pond and its steam as the ancients had once seen it. 

Muro-no-Yashima when written in kanji is 室の八島, which translates roughly to “low ground of eight islands.” However, the word “yashima” used to refer to kilns or ovens. In fact, many, many centuries ago, it was common practice for people in the region of Yashima to purify their kilns on New Year’s Eve and divine the next year’s fortune based on the ashes within. 

At some point, for some unknown reason, the word for kiln/oven became “kamado,” and this region was given the kanji 八島 (Yashima, eight islands) because the kanji matched the pronunciation of the region.

Part: Five

Theme: Fluff/Comedy

The clock ticked away on the wall but he hardly noticed with the speed he was working at. A few minutes from now and he would be finished early. If he finished early then he would have time to pick up dinner instead of cooking it before he needed to pick up Naki from school. In fact, Shin began to almost get lost thinking of all the things he really had to do both today and tomorrow. Perhaps for today the best thing to do would be to play it safe and stick to the plan of picking up the dinner. Then tomorrow he’d grocery shop and-

“Excuse me, Mr. Nemoto?” A familiar voice rung out, effectively pulling him from his own thoughts. He looked up to see her. Kay, a woman with a sweet smile and fairly dazzling curves. Not to mention the entrancing curls that framed her head like a crown almost. Oh great...he was certainly distracted now. “I’m sorry to bother you with all this but I really have no idea  where to find this customer’s statement sheet for the month and they seem to be getting antsy.” She nervously pointed behind her. He curved to discreetly look around her at the grumpy customer sitting in front of her desk. “Ohhh...he looks like he might bust a blood vessel any moment now.” He quietly joked with her, helping to loosen the tension she must’ve been carrying. “Lemme me handle it, okay?” He reassured her as he stood up and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. She hesitated for a moment before complying and letting him handle it. 

“Well it took a little longer than I intended, but he’s finally out of here. Good thing too because I thought I was gonna have to call security.” Nemoto joked with her and she laughed. “Thank you so much Mr. Nemoto for your help. I really owe you one.” She smiled at him and he could feel his world shift just a bit. “Oh it’s no big deal, don’t worry. Oh and you don’t have to call me Mr. Nemoto yknow. We’re the same age haha. Just call me Shin.”

“Okay...thank you Shin.” There she goes again with that damned smile. He watched Kay walk all the way to her desk before he gathered himself enough to clock out. “What was that Shin?” He talked to himself once he was outside in his own car. Time passed to quickly while he was in there helping out. Now he had to get Naki from school BEFORE he picked up dinner instead of after. He sighed and started up the car to head towards her school. By the time he got there, she was waiting outside on the steps next to that boy she keeps bringing home. Nemoto glared for a second before gathering himself with the memory that the young man hasn’t crossed the line just yet. “He’s in the green right now Shin, just relax...” He mumbled to himself as he gripped the steering wheel. Finally Naki looked up and noticed her father was there. “Alright Senzu, I’ll try to talk him into it but there’s no guarantee that he’ll let me go. Wish me luck.” She winked at the boy and he blushed hard as she walked away. Once inside the car Nemoto immediately pulled off, not even offering the boy a ride home in case he needed it. “Naki you’re still talking to that boy?” Shin furrowed his brows while his daughter groaned in annoyance. “Come on dad, he literally took me on a date last week. You’re not getting rid of him that easily, he’s been dating me for at least 2 months now.” Shin sighed and kept driving. “Well I suppose so. Anyway, I hope you don’t mind if I head to the grocery store real quick. I was going to pick up dinner and grocery shop tomorrow, but things ended up running over at work. I might as well cook tonight.” Naki nodded and began typing on her phone until they made it to the store. Once inside, Nemoto pulled out his grocery list, coupon booklet, and his pen. Naki knew the drill as she just walked alongside him, scrolling through her phone. “I’ll never understand how it’s possible for you kids to just scroll through your phone without looking in front of you. How can you see where you’re walking?” Naki sighed and kept scrolling while Shin chuckled. “Sheesh, dad doesn’t even get an answer anymore? Cold world. Teens are cold, cold people.” He joked when suddenly his cart slammed into another. 

“Oh no! My apologies!!!” 

“Shin?”

He looked up and his eyes met with that sea of gold he couldn’t dare look away from. “Kay?” Naki looked up from her phone and slowly smiled mischievously. “Oh shit...this is way more interesting than Snap Streaks...” She whispered to herself as she slipped her phone into her pocket. “I’m sorry I ran into you like that!” Nemoto apologized again and Kay simply rubbed the back of her head and laughed nervously. “Oh no! It’s mostly my fault! I wasn’t really looking where I was going haha.” Naki continued listening intently on the conversation before her. “Well I’d call that a simple mistake but someone else might ask for your shopping cart insurance ha ha.”

“Wow dad that joke was lame.” Naki leaned up to whisper in his ear, and he blushed from embarrassment. “Ha insurance! I certainly hope not!” She laughed until she snorted a bit and Nemoto’s lip turned up into a smile. “Listen Shin...I uh, I’m glad I got to see you again today. I was thinking about how to repay you for work earlier. Even though you said it was no big deal, I still want to repay your kindness so I was thinking maybe we could go get lunch at a deli downtown on me?” Kay scratched her arm and looked away shyly. “Oh I...I uh...well I...”

“HE’D LOVE TO! Say this Sunday even?” Naki butted into the conversation. “Sunday is a perfect day! Well...see you then.” Kay bid them a sweet goodbye and Shin slowly turned towards Naki to glare in annoyance. “Dad?! What? Oh my God, she’s totally got the hots for you! I mean, she laughed at your shitty joke and everything!”

“Okay Naki, One: That joke was not shitty. Two: Watch your language. And Three: I didn’t see that as a date and I won’t accept it as one.”

“Ugh oh my God dad why???” 

“Now you’re being the annoying one.”

“Dad!”

“BECAUSE OF YOUR MOM! ...because of your mom okay? I feel so bad when I think about ever being on the market again. I loved her so much and I could never cheat on her.”

“Dad no offense, and I love mom so much by the way, but she’s gone. She’s never coming back and it hurts me deep...just as much as I know it hurts you. At the same time though, I’ve never seen you even look at a woman the way you did with that lady earlier. It was like that face I make when I see my favorite band member go up on Instagram Live. You’re definitely in love with her.”

“I’m more in love with macaroni, now go to aisle 7 and get a box for me.” He grumbled and Naki rolled her eyes.

“Fine, but only if you actually consider the date.”

“Ugh...very well. Now please cooperate Naki so we can get home and I can start dinner please?” Nemoto asked in a defeated tone. Naki did a little victory shuffle before heading to aisle 7 and picking up dinner ingredients, leaving Shin alone to instantly regret his decision.
