Sarah "Granny" Aching vs. Letice Earwig
Sarah "Granny" Aching
Sarah "Granny" Aching (née Grizzel) would never have called herself a witch. She was a shepherd; she took care of sheep, and the Chalk where they grazed, and others who lived there, including the Nac Mac Feegle. While she was alive, shepherds would seek out Granny Aching to get help for sick sheep. After her death, they sometimes used to leave packets of Jolly Sailor tobacco where her hut used to be, with a wish. The Feegles dealt with the tobacco end of the business (after allowing a decent period for her to take it if she wished).
Letice Earwig
Mrs. Earwig (pronounced "Ah-widge") is an arrogant, snobbish witch. She is married to a retired wizard Dr Earwig, and is of the kind of witches who read books, and has even written several books on "magik". Her last, and only, trainee was Annagramma Hawkin. Although she does use practical folk wisdom as a witch, she also tends to use crystals, jewelry and other items considered useless by witches of Esmeralda Weatherwax's tradition. (Not that Granny doesn't recognise the uses of Boffo, but you don't have to go believing it yourself.) Her complete self-absorption does come in handy; she is shown to be completely immune to Elven Glamour, which leverages human self-doubt. With Letice, there's nowhere for such a lever to gain a purchase.

From "The Sea and Little Fishes"
(A deputation has come to see Granny Weatherwax on the subject of the upcoming "Witches Trials". Not that sort of trial, but an annual tradition where witches get together to demonstrate their abilities in the spirit of.. ahem... "good natured" competition and entertainment)
"On the subject of witchcraft," said Letice, with the born chairwoman's touch for the enforced segue, "I thought I might raise with you the question of your participation in the Trials."
"Yes?"
"Do you … ah … don't you think it is unfair to other people that you win every year?"
Granny Weatherwax looked down at the floor and then up at the ceiling.
"No," she said, eventually. "I'm better'n them."
"You don't think it is a little dispiriting for the other contestants?"
Once again, the floor to ceiling search.
"No," said Granny.
"But they start off knowing they're not going to win."
"So do I."
"Oh, no, you surely -"
"I meant that I start off knowing they're not goin' to win, too," said Granny witheringly. "And they ought to start off knowing I'm not going to win. No wonder they lose, if they ain't getting their minds right."
"It does rather dash their enthusiasm."
Granny looked genuinely puzzled. "What's wrong with 'em striving to come second?" she said.

There is nothing left of you
I can see it in your eyes
Sing the anthem of the angels
And say the last goodbye
I keep holding onto you
But I can’t bring you back to life
Sing the anthem of the angels
Then say the last goodbye
~Breaking Benjamin, Anthem of the Angels.

Valerio took his shoes off and walked along the sandy shore until he stopped to take a look at the cliff in front of him. He closed his eyes, and a peaceful smile shone on his face when he heard a familiar voice ringing in his mind.
"Rio, hurry up!" A young woman was running along the shore and as she was moving, she turned around to take a look at the guy who was jogging after her.
"Why the rush, Leticia?" Valerio chuckled when he caught up with her.
"Today is the third of January! And this is a special day!" She took an atlas out of her bag, "If we get to see a meteor shower today, it means our guesses were correct! It happens annually! And then, we definitely gotta name it somehow. We kinda discovered it after all."
She winked at him with a broad smile, and Valerio chuckled softly. He was looking at her without getting his gaze off, and suddenly she grabbed his hand and pulled him along. They were running along the shore together, holding hands and glancing at each other until Leticia stopped at the cliff. She fixed her glasses on the bridge of her nose, squinting a little, and her face lightened up.
"Here! There will be a gorgeous view from this cliff!"
"Are you sure?"
She squeezed Valerio's hand tighter right before she released it and ran up to the cliff, "There's just one way to find out."
She smiled and stepped barefoot on a gentle rocky surface. Valerio was watching her and soon joined her, slowly going up and looking around to admire the views. They both stopped and exchanged glances, having decided that this height was perfect for watching the meteor shower. They sat at the cliff edge, dangling their feet, and Leticia took off her bag to get her atlas again and show it to Valerio.
"Well, we saw that meteor shower last year on the same date but are you sure we're going to see it again? It happened in a different place then after all," Valerio asked when he began to study the atlas notes.
"Weeell honestly, I'm not sure. I've been studying the chart but we saw that meteor shower just for once so I can't be sure how it works," she said, looking at the star chart, "Anyway, we'll have the next year, and the year after the next, and the year after the next which is after the next, and… well, you got me. So we're gonna see it someday for sure."
Leticia smiled, put her atlas back into the bag, and rested her head on Valerio's shoulder.
"It is so fascinating, isn't it?" Leticia whispered, gazing at the evening sky as the sun was slowly going beyond the horizon, "Just a few moments later and the sky, this boundless cover, will be completely transformed and filled with shimmering lights."
Valerio smiled and lowered his head to kiss her temple.
"It really is," he whispered and gazed softly at Leticia who kept looking at the sky, not noticing Valerio's glance at her.
They were snuggling for a while until Leticia got up and took her bag to check whether she had everything needed for stargazing. Valerio was watching her until he shifted his gaze to the sea surface. He grabbed Leticia's hand, winking at her, and she, not being confused even for a moment, smiled slyly.
They ran up to the cliff edge and jumped off it, falling into the water with splashes. As soon as the water surface smoothed out, Valerio and Leticia swam out and their ringing laughter filled the air.
"Arrgh, damn. Looks like I broke my glasses," Leticia giggled when she took her glasses off and saw a crack on the lens.
Valerio swam closer to her, and she waved her hand, "Relax! I have spare ones."
He chuckled and looked at the top of the cliff they jumped off, "Honestly, I had no idea how deep this area was and whether there were rocks down there but I think we got really lucky."
Leticia laughed with a snort, "Well now we know there are no rocks down there so we should do it more often."
"I don't mind," Valerio looked softly at Leticia and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Leticia smiled and approached Valerio so close she could touch his lips with hers. They closed their eyes and melted into each other's arms as if they were alone in this world.
The wind blew, and Valerio opened his eyes, seeing large waves on the sea surface. He took a deep breath and whispered, "I miss you…"
He turned his gaze to his gloves and abruptly moved off to go to the cemetery.

Another reason to vote Valerio? He loves his (late) wife <3
They met when Valerio was twenty one and Leticia was twenty. They were close friends for quite a long time, then fell in love with each other, and got married. A few years later, Valerio had to leave for another kingdom, and Leticia couldn't join him because she didn't feel well then. He wanted to stay but she assured him she was fine. He did succumb which he regretted because when he returned, he heard heartrending news: Leticia died while he was away.
He blamed (and still does) himself for her death, and now, when it's been several years since he's lost her, he's never fallen in love again.
He’s into history, she was into astronomy, they both were cheerful human beings who loved life, so they’re here being affectionate and adventurous nerds :3 They stargazed together, named a meteor shower, had many meaningful conversations, and cuddled a lot. They both shaped each other as people, changed each other in so many ways, and Valerio will always keep her memory alive.
And here’s also Leticia’s picrew so you can see how she looks like! And a little fact! Valerio's height is 182 cm, and Leticia's is 160 cm, so they have an adorable height difference <3
