(Oh look! The bond is described as "music between souls". Hmm, I wonder where I read about a certain character hearing "a faint, beautiful singing" following him and his shadows singing back 🤔)

Turns out we were wrong all along, guys. SJM is not a fated mates writer. All her mate pairs are actually fake! *gasp*

Edit: For a little clarification here, some Elriels argue that Elucien's bond is fake because it's described as a thread, much like some magic, including Koschei's, is so they think "thread = Koschei's magic = fake bond". But "thread" was also literally used to describe Feysand and Nessian's bond so I don't think the logic holds when you inspect it.

“Dogday says . . . Fetch!”

Roxie watched their friend toss the rubber ball, the ball going well over their head and beyond.

“Go! Go! As far as you can!”

They giggled and made a run for it, their arms full of the trash they had gathered earlier. They had big projects, you see. Big, big projects! Bigger than you could imagine!

Their little legs moved as fast as they could, following the path the ball had taken. The weight in their arms slowed them down, but that didn’t deter them at all!

They ran and ran, the scraps they carried slowly started to fall from their grasp, but they did not look back or slow down to pick them up. They were on a mission! That was Dogday’s favorite ball, they couldn't just leave it!

Roxie’s eyes zeroed on the small, yellow, rubber ball on the ground.

They gasped for air, they haven’t run like that in a while! Not since Hoppy challenged the whole crew into a speeding contest. She won, of course, but they didn’t do bad at all either!

Roxie let go of the remaining objects in their arms, making a beeline towards the yellow ball.

Roxie wrapped their fingers around the sphere, and stared at it longingly.

Roxie looked back, looked back at the path they took. They tried their best to see beyond the red on the walls and floor, the red in the ceiling and air.

Red red red.

Roxie turned their vision to the small pile they managed to bring with them, and gently took a small cardboard cutout.

A cardboard cutout that had their best friend in it. A cardboard cutout that had a big red button to press.

Roxie pressed the button, cradling the object in their arms.

“Dogday says . . . Fetch!”

It said.

“Go! Go! As fast as you can!”

It said.

Roxie let out a bitter laugh, and hung their head low.

They were so. Tired.

shuro headcanons instead of going back to sleep

i think shuro would stim in kind of harmful ways, like picking out hair or hitting himself (not gently but not hard either) over the head. not common bc im sure maizuru would tell him to cut that shit out but

less harmful ways of stimming would be playing with his hair (of course), bouncing his leg, tapping, subtle stuff like that. he would not be caught dead doing something that'd attract any sort of attention to him

still cries a shitload but he's learned to cover it up, crying quietly when no one's around to see. he gets especially teary-eyed when he's frustrated (and he is very easily frustrated)

if he wasn't raised the way he was i think he'd be into art. maybe not particularly good at it, but i think he'd find painting relaxing if nothing else. mostly still life

he's a fall guy. he loves autumn. trust me he told me himself

in spite of me kinda wishing otherwise i dont think he'd be particularly active. his sword essentially carries him. combined with his piss poor eating habits he'd probably pass out cold if you tried to race him

if he voiced every single thought in his head then he'd be locked up for conspiracy tbh. he polices his thoughts a LOT but ofc that doesn't stop the occasional "im going to blow up everyone in this building" type thought from popping up

in a modern universe laios would absolutely annoy him about anime in spite of him not being an anime fan. hed be like what do u mean u dont like anime???!?!?!?!?!

if he WAS though then i can totally see him enjoying anime liek mob psycho or aggretsuko. stuff with a relatable main character

he lieks tight, dark spaces to chill in :o3 maybe read a book or two. i dont think he'd be crazy about them but i do think he'd enjoy the imagination aspect

i think he'd get paranoid after watching horror movies

if he was raised without enforcing gender roles onto him he would def have some kind of comfort item he'd lug around as a kid. maybe a plushie or a blanket. he'd keep it hidden as he grew older (like, past his teens).. imagine him getting all sentimental over it..

he would be a little bit of a music guy. like, moderately so. he sticks to a few genres and doesn't really branch out. it'd be funny to say that he'd be into sm shit like death metal but realistically i'm thinking jazz, acoustic, piano, relaxing stuff liek that . maybe modern enka? gotta look into the genres hed like a bit more

actually now that i think about it i think he'd hate death metal. imo hed be especially sensitive to loud sound so if u played that or smt like speedcore he'd explode into dust and fly away

The man on the radio says we could be in for a wild Wednesday ... on the other hand, we could just be in for a bit of this, that, and nothing in particular ... whatever, whatever, he's keeping us whirling around the kitchen dance floor. Weatherwise it's sun, rain and wind in equal measures ... a Victoria Sponge of vagaries. The traffic lady came and went without my attention being paid.

Today's groaner: my coworker, Kelvin, recently retired from the weather station and was replaced by a new guy, Celsius ... He's the new temp ;-D badoom tish ... here all week!!

The day after a shiny metropolis trip is always one of not knowing whether I'm coming or going. Mr Pooter's friends from Diary of a Nobody would be appropriate visitors today.

Lots of yawns and bleary eyed gazes out of the window as I sit here. Not much moving out there and even less in here ... aside, that is, from Biggest Dog who is panting and pacing after her walk. A good night's sleep for both of us last night and she's keeping all the beans for herself.
