What Happens on Vacation: Crossover with YYH – turns out that Kurosaki Misaki was a senior ferry girl on sabbatical (which translates as living a mortal life unaware of her true nature) and she was late returning to work due to being trapped in Grand Fishers gut. Ichigo and Uryuu are very confused when their “cousin” Kazuma shows up to introduce his new bride to the family. 3.     CODE GEASS

3.1.  A Code of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Lelouch, his two younger siblings, and Lelouch’s most loyal followers are reincarnated into Westeros. Lelouch proceeds to make it his lifelong mission to drive Cersei into frothing fits and strengthens the Baratheon dynasty to the point that even Tywin is impressed by his grandson’s machinations. Then CC shows up with dragons and Ned Stark starts to think that maybe Robert’s onto something with the “drinking to forget” idea. Meta

3.2.  Abandon Thyself: Post-Zero Requiem Suzaku travels back in time to the scene in the Shinjuku Ghettos when the truck explodes. Given that the people closest to him haven’t actually spoken to Suzaku in years, the origins of Suzaku’s obvious mental instability is hilariously misattributed by various outside PoVs. So when Suzaku hits his knees in front of Lelouch, swearing eternal devotion and vowing to make Lelouch the next emperor nobody panics. (They should really reconsider panicking.) 3.3.  The Sun Also Rises: At the moment of his death in the Zero Requiem, Lelouch travels back in time to his childhood body. With only a week to go before Marianne is “assassinated by terrorists” Lelouch sets out to rearrange the board in a way none of the other players will see coming until it’s far too late. Lelouch has been given a second chance to make things right, and Lelouch wouldn’t be Lelouch if he didn’t plan big. This time around, Lelouch plans for his victory to be a bit more obvious. 4.    DCU

4.1.  Time Enough: Terry McGinnis, his little brother Matt, and their dogs are the only members of their timeline to survive because Bruce Wayne was too old to see any more of his sons die in front of him. So they all got knocked out, shoved into an escape capsule, and ejected from the Batman Beyond timeline before it crumbles. Said time pod crashes into the middle of a Red Hood versus Match throw down, and Terry’s Wayne-inherited charisma is so powerful it allows him to banter his way into good graces of both villains. 5.    DRAGON BALL

5.1.  Saiyajin Pride: Alien biology has a larger impact on characterization that it does in canon. Mirai comes back to the main timeline live in sin with Videl and Gohan. Vegeta and Goku deal with some shit that comes from being the last full-blooded members of their species. Then just as things are settling down… Garlic is an idiot who thinks up a loophole in the “can’t wish people dead” rule and wishes Goku and Vegeta’s families straight out of existence and they end up in an entirely different reality. 6.    FAIRY TAIL

6.1.  Flight Of Dragons: Future!Lucy misses her target and ends up landing further back in time, during the same year Natsu and the rest of the Dragon Slayer kids were brought to when they were pulled forward in time.  Fairy Tail luck kicks in, and future!Lucy runs into child!Laxus as he escapes from his father after being fed the Lightning Dragon Lacrima. Laxus is handed a Prophecy and runs with it. Children have never needed Fairy Tales to tell them that Dragons exist, but they certainly help. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

7.    FAMILIAR OF ZERO

7.1.  A Velvet Glove: Crossover with TMNT – Leonardo gets summoned to be Louise’s Familiar. Since all of his brothers are dead, Leo sees no reason not to make the most of this “lifelong bond of magic and spirit” and adopts Louise as his little sister. Halgenkia is not prepared for a Louise Francois le Blanc de la Valliere with ninja training. Henrietta is probably far too gleeful over making her best friend her Spymaster, but it’s not like anyone knows enough about what they’re doing to stop her. 8.1.  A Dirge of Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – Several members of Avalanche and the Elite Soldiers are reincarnated as the spares and bastards of Westeros’ Great Houses. Given that Rhaenys Targaryen used to be Cid Highwind, the Sack of King’s Landing goes very differently. Meta

8.2.  A Feather’s Weight: Crossover with Naruto – Kakashi and Obito, along with their respective subordinates, are reincarnated in Wutai, and are thus in position to undermine a lot of Hojo’s plans simply by being themselves. Wutai still loses, but by a much smaller margin, and SHIN-RA realizes much too late that Wutai’s “concession” was a trap. Kakashi is a big shiny distraction for Sephiroth, the SOLDIERS revolt, and nobody knows who assassinated President Shinra. Chaptered, WIP - Unposted

8.3.  Antiviral: Woden and Gaia conspire to create antibodies to fight off Jenova’s infection. Cid and Vincent end up bearing the brunt of this decision, get roofied by Divine Intervention, and also end up the Gaian equivalent of demonic werewolves. Also the Planet is transforming all the SOLDIERS into werewolves too, yes, even the dead ones. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

8.4.  For Love Of: Cid Highwind crashes the Tiny Bronco into Lucrecia’s cave, does the metaphysical equivalent of tearing her heart out and eating it to absorb her power, and them proceeds to adopt General Sephiroth as his son because it’s not like anyone can stop him. Cid Highwind does what he wants. Sephiroth does what Mother wants. SHIN-RA soon regrets everything because Cid Highwind is a hell of a lot better at rewriting the social order than Avalanche is. 8.5.  Hindsight is 20-20: CHAOS decides to rewrite time because they have a massive crush on Cid and they don’t want him to die. CHAOS fumbles the landing and Cid ends up in the body of some weird Lucrecia/Ancient-Cetra-Who-Was-Jenova’s-Host Clone and ends up giving birth to Sephiroth. Things only get worse from there. 8.6.  Like it Rough: Cid likes Vincent a lot and also has a bit of a kink for scars. Cid walks in on Vincent naked, runs away to hide his raging boner, and Vincent ends up chasing Cid around the airship until he can pin his friend down in the Captain’s bunk because the demons are all drunk on the pheromones. 8.7.2.     History Inverted: Jenova isn’t all the way gone and the Planet really doesn’t care if Humanity survives or not as long as the infection is burned away. Jorah Mormont is Cor Leonis, but Cor Leonis is not Jorah Mormont, and so the Northern Forces are something to fear in Robert’s Rebellion. 13. GUNDAM WING

13.1.               Mistakes and Misdemeanors: Heero was on blockers for the entire war due to a series of implants, which did no favours to his mental health. 14. HARRY POTTER

14.1.               Black As His Name: Sirius Back lives! Because the Veil dumps his mind-and-soul into the empty body of his younger self in a world where Walburga Black lost it on her eldest son much earlier in life and Sirius was tortured until he was left brain-dead. Arcturus Black is pissed off over the treatment of one of his Heirs and since Sirius’ magic is still intact, names Sirius the Heir to House Black and proceeds to hold the Heirship over everybody’s heads for spite for as long as Sirius continues to “live”. Everyone in the Black Family is very surprised when the annual shaming ritual disguised as Sirius’ birthday party is crashed. By none other than the birthday boy himself. 14.2.               Black Hunt Under Bloody Skies: Crossover with KHR – Regulus and Sirius both end up dumped into KHR because Death owes them a favour on its Master’s behalf. 17.4.               Cat’s Paws: Uri has seen enough Time Travel bullshit to know how it works, and so when Hayato gets himself killed she grabs his soul and flings herself backwards in time because fuck the timeline this is her human and he’s not allowed to abandon her again. The other Box Animals think it’s a great idea and do the same with their humans, and this results in the kind of alternate timeline that gives Byakuran a headache. In other words, Uri creates a timeline where Flame Actives are a lot more Alien than they used to be and now everyone thinks Youkai and other myths are real. Chapters, WIP - Posted

17.5.               Fire Shall Waken: All of Nono’s sons are still alive when the Cradle Affair happens and it results in the entire 10th Generation gathering up their Harmonies, rolling Xanxus into a blanket burrito, and taking off to Japan under assumed names where they proceed to spend the next eight years coddling Tsuna and being spoiled rotten by Nana in return. 17.7.1. Karmic Balance: Kakashi and Obito are ninja married from the very start because of metaphysical bonding and some minor haunting during their last lives. Between Ninshu Shinobi needing to be in Clans and Flame Actives needing to be in Harmonies it does not take long before the child stealing begins. Gokudera Kakashi is the best wife and Dokuro Obito repents, repeatedly and often, while also having the time of his second life. 17.7.2. Karmic Justice: Madara and his brothers are reborn as Fon’s nephews and do not take kindly to the Arcobaleno curse being put on one of their relatives. The Hibari Clan proceeds to start hunting for the Man in the Iron Man en mass. Madara and his brothers hit Namimori during Nono’s visit and witness the sealing of Tsunayoshi. They don’t take well to this either. Things go worse for Tsuna than they do in canon and Madara hunts down Tobirama because he needs the resurrection to be done perfectly. 17.7.2.1.      Karmic Justice – Hubris: Madara comes across Xanxus in the ice while investigating the Vongola and despite Xanxus being a bit older than the usual target for child stealing decides to steal him anyway. After resurrecting Tsuna, Madara and Tobirama’s next project is defrosting Xanxus. Concept

17.7.2.2.      Karmic Justice – Providence: Madara finds Xanxus on the streets while hunting in Italy for the Man in the Iron Mask. Wrath Flame calls to Wrath Flame and Madara instantly adopts the delightfully savage little boy. Then Namimori happens, and Tsuna’s seal gets him temporarily killed, and Xanxus reaches 100-year-vengance-plot levels of overprotective big brother. WIP - Unposted

17.8.               Music of the Spheres: Crossover with SM – Post Stars Usagi and Post Vongola Inheritance Tsuna are cousins who meet for the first time ever only after the Vongola’s enemies kidnap Ikkuko and Shingo. Usagi gets taken into protective custody by her Mafia relatives without being given the chance to say she doesn’t need it. Usagi then proceeds to seduce all the women, charm all the men, and accidently throw Iemitsu out the nearest window every time he’s in the same room she is. Chaptered, WIP - Posted

17.8.1. MotS - Celestial Chorus: Chibiusa’s arrival has Usagi dragging her family to Namimori to prove that Chibiusa isn’t their cousin and things get wildly out of hand. Meta

20.1.               A Feather’s Weight: Crossover with FFVII – Kakashi and Obito, along with their respective subordinates, are reincarnated in Wutai, and are thus in position to undermine a lot of Hojo’s plans simply by being themselves. Wutai still loses, but by a much smaller margin, and SHIN-RA realizes much too late that Wutai’s “concession” was a trap. Kakashi is a big shiny distraction for Sephiroth, the SOLDIERS revolt, and nobody knows who assassinated President Shinra. WIP - Unposted

20.2.               A Space Between Ice and Fire: Crossover with GOT – The Konoha Founders and their siblings are reincarnated as Starks and Baratheons and manage to save the Realms of Men while resolving their many and varied issues with one another. Meta

20.3.               A Widening Gyre: Rin survives the Chidori and her existence is now an S-class secret. Said S-class secret distracts Obito on his way to ambush Kushina’s labour and several different chase scenes take place. They all end up in the ROOT base made from one of Tobirama’s old labs and instead of Kyuubi getting loose Team Ro, the Fourth Hokage’s team of bodyguards, Obito, Anko, and all of ROOT plus Danzo himself get dumped into the Warring Clans Era. Obito kills Danzo in a panic when he realizes that taking the Bijuu means killing Rin, Kakashi sacrifices himself again, and there is a lot more running around. Kakashi suborns ROOT en masse, Obito is stupidly overpowered and homicidal but it’s okay because Kakashi is playing damsel in distress and distracting him. The Senju and the Uchiha are all really confused by these kids, there are far too many mistaken identities, and Konoha gets founded much earlier than in canon. Meta

Sarutobi is so delighted by all the babies he names Orochimaru his successor without any further debate. Konoha proceeds to become a somewhat androgynous, gender-fluid utopia full off affectionate, friendly people who only want you for your body. RP Headcanons: DC Edition, pt 1

Batfam

Bruce cares, tries, and fails, but generally keeps trying for his kids.

Baby Terry McGinnis is the cutest thing ever and his dinosaur t-shirts reinforce this.

Slade Wilson - terrible person, great assassin, loving (if strict) parent.

Dick and Bruce fight constantly! Once Dick gets mad about something, everything makes him more angry until he and Bruce eventually resolve the first problem. It's sometimes big stuff... sometimes really petty shit.

Steph loves waffles. She will trade Tim for a 4-stack with chocolate chips.

Everybody wants to pair with Bruce on Gotham patrols. He gets the best fights and he brings snacks in the belt - it's a 50/50 if it's protein bars or trail mix, though.

Nobody wants to pair with Bruce on Gotham patrols. He won't let you make Social Media posts or stop for a hotdog at Rico's corner stand.

Jason and Dick actually fight a lot, still. Jason knows how to push Dick's buttons and he uses that as a self-defense tactic when he doesn't want to talk. ("Get Dick mad and he won't ask if I'm okay!")

Cass loved Steph before Steph loved Cass. Stephanie figured it out... eventually.

Lucius Fox only helps with the really weird shit because Bruce trades him Alfred's secret holiday recipes sometimes. Alfred's recipes are the true treasures of Earth.

Duke does his best not to get swept up in the weird, wild lives of his batsiblings tbh.

Tim doesn't babysit, he gets babysat.

Ace is the Good Boy™ but he will try and take Krypto down.

Titus is trained, we swear, but he's goofier than a ferret on drugs sometimes. 10/10 derp.

90s Kon and YJ Kon both deserve to exist. What better combo than the Insta-famous, outgoing showboat and the blunt, introverted buffbaby?

YJ Kon is way more of a "Conner" than 90s Kon. 90s Con is now "Carter."

Carter + Tim = Flashy Disaster Couple

Conner likes Wally's freckles.

Ma and Pa Kent accept any and all grandkids, time-travel or dimension-hopping be damned because "They're our boys, now, Clark, of course we want to see them!", and there are family trips to the farm.

Clark will bribe his friends and teammates with his mother's cooking. He can't bribe with his own, though, because he's terrible at it.

Jon would happily fly to Gotham for dinner before eating what his father burned made for them.

Krypto would probably go, too.

Clark doesn't know what to do with all of his sons but at least they aren't like his cousins.

"It's not about whether the boob window would look good or not, guys! It isn't happening!" is still something he's had to say before, though, and Clark's mildly ashamed of it.

With three superboys up to bat, the real issue is that none of them want to share the name. Jon had it first and that's fine with his brothers, really. Conner looks and feels like practically an adult, so he's meh about it. Carter wants something catchier to say. The result? Superboy, Kon and Rao.

Jor-El had a conniption when Carter named himself "Rao" as a hero. "You named yourself after OUR GOD?!? You disrespectful little-!"

Lex thought it was hilarious.

The boys are constantly in the background of Carter's posts and there's a few Insta vids of Lex trying and failing to hide that he's mildly amused by his son's shenanigans.

Flashfam

Barry is face-blind (has prosopagnosia). He can gradually memorize specific elements of a person's face ("Uh... Ollie's hair is like mine, right? So he's blond! And I know he has facial hair.") but has trouble associating them together unless he's had long periods of exposure to the person.

Wally is a nervous bundle of anxiety. All of the time.

Barry is practically incapable of looking on the dark side of things, and tends to believe the best of people - this extends to his villains.

Cisco is his bro, Caitlin is like the ditzy aunt, and Harrison is the exasperated father-figure that just wishes his kids didn't drink so much coffee.

Speaking of coffee - Barry doesn't drink it on the job. It makes him antsy.

Captain Boomerang - Digger, to his friends - is always on the edge of getting out of the game. Raising Owen ("Little Diggs") is a higher priority than his Rogues work. He waivers between retirement and always that "last" job that'll set him up to take care of his son.

Little Diggs is too pure for this world, and a fan of Flash even though he knows his father is a villain.

Wally isn't as forgiving with the Rogues as Barry is. This is especially true for Heatwave, Glider and Cold, since they've all double-crossed the Flash before.

Cold isn't fond of Kid Flash. Barry earns his respect and, in some ways, his admiration - this doesn't extend to Flash's smartassed sidekick.

Lisa and Mick are a surprisingly functional duo despite their dysfunctional dynamic. Lisa is generally in charge in their relationship, and Mick knows Len would ice him if he ever raised a hand to Lisa.

Len and Mick are best friends, despite the friction from their clashing personalities.

Lisa keeps pushing Len to either date or pick a favorite hooker - anything to get him laid and chilled out for once.

Len is practically addicted to puns. Not even just cold- or ice-related puns, either! He will make puns out of anything when given an opportunity, and genuinely is amused by them.

Arrowfam

Oliver is never in control of his daily life. He's barely in control of his personal choices most of the time.

Felicity runs it all - the team, the company, organizing his assignments from the League... everything other than doing the hard stuff herself.

Ollie really is a capable hero, but he doesn't believe it. He also doesn't particularly believe that the League needs or wants him there, but couldn't tell you why exactly they keep him, then, if questioned about it.

Roy has totally given up the flash and mystique of heroism tbh. Trucker hat? Check. Bow, arrows, and backup guns? Check. Flip-flops? All the better to chase people with. The slapslapslap of justice will strike terror in the hearts of muggers everywhere.

Oliver spoils Lian relentlessly.

Artemis is glad to avoid the weird shit that Roy and his clones get up to when Ollie isn't paying attention. She's never been more thankful that she isn't one of the adopted sidekicks.

Jim: Big, friendly, easily guilt-tripped, the pretty one.

Will: Mature, down-to-earth, does the guilt-tripping, the mom/dad friend.

Roy: Trash, amger!!!, can't be guilt-tripped but can be blackmailed, has no clue what he wants in life yet.

Lian will either murder you in your sleep or you are now a member of her family. There is no in-between.

No pets. Ever. They will get shot with an arrow by accident and nobody in the house is willing to deal with that emotional burden.

Oliver wants exactly 0 people in the "Arrowfam" but will kill you and/or himself over losing any member of his Arrowfam.

Home Entertainment has remastered the heralded series for its first-ever presentation on Blu-ray™ in the all-encompassing Batman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition, arriving on Digital ($49.99 SRP USA, $59.99 SRP Canada) starting October 15, 2019 and in a stunning box set ($99.99 SRP USA, $119.99 SRP Canada) on October 29, 2019. Distribution in Canada will be day-and-date with the USA, Pre-orders are now available.

The extraordinary Batman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition package features approximately 1,500 minutes of entertainment spread over four Blu-ray™ discs, plus the two bonus discs of enhanced content. In addition to a newly-remastered Blu-ray presentation of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, there are 15 featurettes on the bonus discs, highlighted by two new inside looks at the beloved television series, led by Nostalgic Tomorrow, a gathering of Batman Beyond production talent and cast led by executive producer Bruce Timm and actors Kevin Conroy and Will Friedle, the voices of Batman and Terry McGinnis, respectively. The bonus discs also spotlight four episodes with audio commentary from Timm and select members of the production team.

Collectibles within the stunning packaging include an exclusive chrome Batman BeyondFunko POP, and four beautifully-designed lenticular art cards produced especially forBatman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition. This ultimate collectors Blu-ray box set will be individually numbered for a Limited Edition release of 50,000.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation,Batman Beyond premiered on January 10, 1999 to instant ratings and critical success. The series would run for three seasons, covering 52 total episodes and a full-length animated film, Batman Beyond: The Return of the Joker. Nominated for nine Emmy Awards, Batman Beyond would ultimately take home two Emmys – including Outstanding Special Class Animated Program in 2001 – as well as three Annie Awards.

Of the 52 original Batman Beyond episodes, 41 have been fully-remastered from either their original 35mm film source or the uncommon format “OCND,” the original camera negative digital (a digital scan of original negative). Lines and resolution have been enhanced, and dust and dirt have been removed – however, cell dirt remains to not disturb the original picture. Included in the remastering was the removal of grain, resulting in enhanced colors. The remastering process does cause a slight aspect ratio change (approximately 3% loss of screen image).

Due to time-worn irreparable damage, the remaining 11 episodes were “Smart Rezzed” from standard definition Digibeta video. The process provides for significant enhanced resolution and improvement of the original source material in converting from standard to high definition, though it does sacrifice horizontal lines for clearer image and color representation. While still a marked improvement over the original video, viewers will notice a slight difference between the Remastered and the Up-Rezzed final footage. The 11 affected episodes are: “Eyewitness,” “Final Cut,” “The Last Resort,” “Armory,” “Sneak Peek,” “The Eggbaby,” “Zeta,” “Plague,” “April Moon,” “Sentries of the Lost Cosmos” and “Speak No Evil.”

The creative team behind the breakthrough animated series was headed by the producing quartet of Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Alan Burnett and Glen Murakami, alongside executive producer Jean MacCurdy and associate producer Shaun McLaughlin. Shirley Walker composed the award-winning score with the Dynamic Music Partners trio of Lolita Ritmanis, Kristopher Carter and Michael McCuistion, while 8-time Emmy Award winner Andrea Romano guided an impressive collection of actors as casting/dialogue director. Butch Lukic, Dan Riba and Curt Gida directed the majority of episodic animation along with James Tucker, Kyung Won Lim and Yukio Suziki. Primary story editors and writers on the series were Burnett and Dini with Bob Goodman, Rich Fogel, Hilary Bader and Stan Berkowitz.

The Batman Beyond cast was spearheaded by Kevin Conroy, the fan favorite voice of The Dark Knight as established in the landmark Batman: The Animated Series. Will Friedle (Boy Meets World, Kim Possible) created the character of Terry McGinnis, Batman’s protégé. Veteran voiceover actresses Cree Sumner (Codename: Kids Next Door, Drawn Together) and Lauren Tom (Friends, The Joy Luck Club, Futurama) were series regulars as Max and Dana Tan, respectively.

The guest cast included a healthy collection of film and primetime television stars spanning from Academy Award nominees Paul Winfield, Stockard Channing, William H. Macy, Teri Garr and Michael McKean; Emmy Award winners John Ritter, Wayne Brady, Seth Green, Tim Curry, David Warner and Patton Oswalt; Golden Globe winners Stacy Keach, Amanda Donohoe and Jill Eikenberry; four Grammy Award winners led by Ice-T; and five members of the Hollywood Walk of Fame – Macy and Ritter along with George Takei, Michael Ansara and Mark Hamill. The cast also included legends of the entertainment industry and several young actors heading toward stardom, like Adrienne Barbeau, Kate Jackson, Angie Harmon, Linda Hamilton, Clancy Brown, Gary Cole, Ed Begley Jr., Wendie Malick, Cary Elwes, Olivia Hussey, Kurtwood Smith, Robert Patrick, Ian Ziering, CCH Pounder, Frank Welker, Johnny Galecki, Pauley Perrette, Michael Rosenbaum and Diedrich Bader.

All totaled, the Batman Beyond cast featured actors with laurels totaling five Academy Award nominations, 47 Emmy Awards, 206 Emmy nods, four Gold Globe Awards, 45 Golden Globe nominations, three Grammy Awards and nine nominations, and five actors forever enshrined with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Alright listen, say, in Batman Beyond the Batfam are not as fucked up as they’re in canon.

Following my ABO AU, Terry is a young alpha working and training under Bruce (who isn’t the old crotchety coot in this story) in Gotham, but the rest of the fam is just spread around the world... all apart from this tech kid, Pete, who is the Oracle now - he’s not a great fighter due to poor health, moves mostly on crutches, but he’s a tech wiz and is super smart. And then one day Terry happens upon a case he can’t solve and the Oracle is like, welp, we need something extra for that. We need to ask my brother for help. 

And Terry is like, wait, you have a legit brother? 

Pete is like, Oh yeah, of course, an older one. And like, why is Terry even surprised? This whole organization is weeeeird and mysterious, and no one ever tells you things.

They go to the Himalayas - and Terry is stumped, because what the fuck, they’re there to meet Damian Goddamn Wayne-al Ghul, the estranged son of Bruce and currently the Head of the Ghul and the League of Assassins!! What?! Terry brought his suit, but there’s at least, like, 50 assassins waiting on them and Pete is in a wheelchair!

And then Damian Wayne-al Ghul, the most dangerous man in the world, sweeps past him as if Terry was invisible and picks up the Oracle as if the guy weighted nothing. Then he starts to scold Pete like a goddamn mother!

“You have some nerve to come here in your state, ‘mimi, you’re cold like a chip of ice. If you get pneumonia I will not be the one to nurse you back to health!” 

And the Oracle (mimi???) is all amused like, “Stop posturing, Dami, you will nurse me to health better than the mother would!” 

“T-t! Stop badmouthing my umm’i, you wretch!” 

“It’s also my mom, so I can.”

“Disrespectful brat! McGinnis, either follow or stay outside and freeze! Not that I care what happens to you.”

Thoroughly confused, Terry follows. But nothing of that makes sense! 

”So, Pete, this is the brother you told me about?”

“Yes.”

“So you’re Bruce’s son?! Aren't you a bit too young?”

“No, Bruce is my grandpa.”

“...wait. Then... you two share a mother?”

“Yes.”

“Talia al Ghul?”

“No.”

“What...? What the hell?! What is this goddamn family??” 

“Very complicated, Terry. Very complicated.”

“McGinnis, stop with this useless blabbering or I will throw your carcass to my devil-spawn to feast on.”

“...to your what?”

“Oh, right! How’s Goliath doing?”

“He’s doing well, ‘mimi. You can see him after a hot bath and dinner.”

“Dami, stop embarrassing me in front of the new Batman!”

“T-t.”

Revisiting Chapters Twenty-Eight, Twenty-Nine, and Thirty of Gems Without Measure; A Pirate’s Treasure

As part of the two year celebration of the story being written, I have realized that I must correct an oversight that I should have done months ago…namely doing one of these. Let’s rectify that, shall we?

1) The old “fighting and keeping score” bit is one that is somewhat common. I believe that the first place I came across the concept was in the fifth issue of Superman/Batman by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGinnis, when the Bat-Family and Superman Family break into the White House to confront President Lex Luthor. 2) Thus begins the idea that Peridot wants new limb enhancers or something that can aid her with helping her comrades…I wonder where this will go. 3) A LARGE majority of this chapter is taken wholesale from canon. When Oda wrote the various exposition bits, they were broken up with Franky’s flashback. As I can get somewhat away with merely describing the flashback, it just leaves a lot of exposition, which does benefit the audience who has never read One Piece before. 4) The moment where Robin rejects Peridot is a monumental moment is this part of the story. While Steven and Luffy are undoubtedly the main characters of the story as a whole, Peridot is the main focus of this part of the story. We have watched her transition from the selfish, pompous, Homeworld-indoctrinated Gem to a character who is finding her own sense of identity for the first time. Beyond Steven (who has given his trust to her from the beginning), Robin has formed an unlikely friendship with her. It is what makes the ironic echo of “Logic has no place on the Grand Line” so hard to hear…or read, I suppose. The question is how would she respond: accept it as reality, be betrayed by it, or fight to get Robin back… 5) Pearl naming every attack that she has after herself is comedy gold and completely in-line with her character. 6) Of course, Peridot’s faith in Robin is unwavering. Between her fight against Ratchet and saving Iceburg, Peridot is solidifying herself as being a valuable member of the crew. 7) Peridot’s claim of finishing twelve impossible tasks before the sun rises is inspired from a quote in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. 8) Robin feeling like she is being watched is supposed to be foreshadowing about Sanji watching over her.

9) The song Steven and the Marines are singing is reworked from “When A Felon’s Not Engaged In His Employment” from The Pirates of Penzance. It is not the first time that I have used music from this play nor will it be the last. 10) We know for a fact that, since he outfitted Steven with Seastone cuffs, Nero does not have Devil Fruit powers, but does Apollo?

11) So at this point, we know that both Apollo and Eirney Heca are members of CP9. As such, I can briefly explain just why they exist. They are around to bolster up CP9’s forces and are based off of Oda’s original conception of CP9, with Eirney being based on the original character design for Kalifa (the one that looks like a witch crossed with the Other Mother from Coraline) and Apollo being based on the original idea for what eventually became Kumadori, who was an ape-like human as opposed to an ape mink.

12) Mnemosurgery is taken from Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye by James Roberts. I’ll leave it to you to go on TFwiki to see just what that means before I give anything away…

13) Eirney has brought back the often used gag of Steven’s etiquette being brought up. This time, however, Eirney actually claims that Steven has nice etiquette, which makes the gag subverted.

14) Nero did not really have any personality in the original manga, so I’ve given him his own musical motif in addition to his overconfidence in himself.

15) Steven’s song is based on the “Lapis Lazuli” song. 

16) Captain T-Bone is a great Marine presence that I hope gets focused on again. He truly cares about his men to an exaggerated degree, which is fascinating. As such, his odd request to ask Steven to sing is not necessarily out of the ordinary… 17) We also learn that Eirney Heca is a legacy member of CP9…like Kalifa.

18) And now we have come to the biggest plot twist in this story after the inclusion of Uncle Grandpa: the glorious return of the Baroque Works Trio! For the life of me, I didn’t know just when or how I’d get these guys back into the main story for the longest time. I knew what they were doing on Backslide Island, but the question was mainly when would I bring them back. Initially, the suggestion that was thrown around was that they’d return with Franky after he spent their money, but that seemed like it was too sudden. This clicked together literally as I was writing the previous chapter and it all felt so organic that I couldn’t be more pleased. It helps that @cyanideoreo immortalized this moment in a drawing, which is like my favorite thing.

19) I pitched this section of the story as the alternative to the Miss Goldenweek cover story, which obviously couldn’t happen considering the status of the Baroque Works Trio and the MIA status of all of the Baroque Works characters that are not shipped to Impel Down. As such, it got boiled down to a few key events: the Trio ending up on the same island that Hina was on, Hina capturing Miss Valentine, and the other two saving her. My only regret is not including them eating Ice Cream cones, but it didn’t really fit the timeframe. I’ll give them some ice cream later on. 20) In addition to the above information, this flashback literally starts at the same point in canon when the original cover story began being published! 21) We learn that Genevieve does not like to drink, which makes sense given what we know. However, I did have to make a slight adjustment to the ending of “The Would-Be King” to make it clear that she was not drinking any alcohol. 22) O hai, new character! Florido Zuke is named, as with every new place and person introduced in this chapter, by two members of the Crewniverse: Hilary Florido and Lauren Zuke. Her personality was created by jmr46718 and ran by F*ckthesystem125. The rationale was that, as per Oda’s description in the SBS, Mr. 6’s partner was Miss Mother’s Day and it would be amusing to have a character looking like a child but is actually an adult. Think of Mary Dahl from Batman the Animated Series, but with an appearance similar to Janine Melnitz from Ghostbusters. I’d give her a voice similar to that of Jennifer Darling, who voiced Ayeka in Tenchi Muyo. 23) The Surasshu Restruant is named after Steven Velema aka the Surasshu half of Avi and Surasshu, the musical duo behind Steven Universe’s soundtrack. 24) Sherry was Petrea’s drink of choice all the way back in “The Rifting Stone.” There are several variations of sherry out there, but as an English teacher, I’d be remiss not to point out that one such variety is amontillado, the subject of my go-to Edgar Allan Poe story “The Cask Of Amontillado.” 25) I’m sure Treasure Tree Adam wood is not important at all…nope…

26) Mad Treasure is an anime-only character created for the Heart of Gold One Piece special, which was a tie-in to Film Gold. When he was suggested to be the guy for this part over a year ago, I had not seen Heart of Gold but thankfully, it is dubbed into English and is pretty great. 27) The Sugar Tavern is named after Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe, and the Moilesee Farmer’s Market is named after Raven Moilesee, who actually liked my Tumblr post of that Peridot Christmas Cookie I made last year. 28) On one hand, the Baroque Works Trio being on an island that JUST HAPPENS to have an auction from Crocodile going on does seem contrived…but on the other hand, this is the world of One Piece where contrived connections happen all the time. 29) We now have the first inklings of Genevieve’s backstory! The book Genevieve is referring to is implied to come from the Oharan library, tying it into Robin’s backstory. We also get a glimpse at just how Mr. 3 and Miss Goldenweek met, although technically one would assume that Mr. 3 should not know her real name as per the rules of Baroque Works…but that doesn’t matter. 30) Deciding on whether to give Genevieve a Devil Fruit was one I had fought against for months until I was made aware of Psycho P’s Color-Color Fruit, which just seemed like a waste of an idea. Using that thought process as our young painter’s motivation, I now had a good reason why she would decide to eat it. 31) The person Damian and Petrea are partying with is, of course, Franky. 32) We finally get a simple explanation on why Damian has not been using his gun: he left it back at Beach City. I mean, think about it: why would he grab the gun just for a simple Davy Back Fight where that sort of weaponry would probably be outlawed, especially since his own body can be used as a weapon? 33) Lamar Levin is, of course, based on Lamar Abrams, the only member of he Crewniverse to have a hand in every major Onion episode (outside of Avi and Surasshu, I suppose) with former writer Ben Levin’s last name. 34) Mohs Island is named after the Mohs’ scale of mineral hardness…pay it no mind. 35) Originally it was suggested that Mad Treasure wanted the Golden Crown for Gild Teroso, the antagonist of One Piece Film Gold, but I figured it worked better as an adventure for a man like Mad Treasure than making him an errand boy.

36) Naomi Drunk and Psycho P are both from Heart of Gold as well…seriously, what odd names. 37) Phil’s boasting is taken from The Dark Knight Returns. 38) I’m sure the amount of money that Petrea haggled the Golden Crown for will go over just fine with Nami. 39) I’m not going to lie, I’d kill to have a cover story where Hina brings Jango and Fullbody to a karaoke bar. 40) The Quartey Auction House is named for Ian Jones-Quartey, a major presence on early Steven Universe and the creator of O.K. KO.

41)  Damian’s cork-gun is a nod to the 4kids dub where the guns were either Super Soakers, cork-guns, pointing fingers, or whatever the hell that hilarious hammer gun that Helmeppo used was.

42) Takafumi Liu (names for Takafumi Hori Of Studio Trigger and regular storyboard artist and musician Jeff Liu) description is taken word for word from the chapter in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where Willy Wonka is first introduced. That is our first hint that he is a literal candy-man…but I highly doubt anyone picked up on that unless they read the “Shout Out” page on the story’s TVTrope page, which I have been updating. Along those same lines, the bit about “rhyme a riddle or two” is from the song “Strike That, Reverse It” from the 2013 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical. 43) Gasparde and the Candy-Candy Fruit are from One Piece Movie 4. While it was ambiguous about what happened to him at the end of the movie, I made it clear that he survived Luffy’s attack…before dying anyway. Again, contrived coincidences, but I digress… 44) “Victory Is In The Preparation” is Batman’s motto throughout the first third of Grant Morrison’s Batman run. 45) The buscarinon orange is named for Jackie Buscarino, a producer on Steven Universe and the voice actress for Vidalia. 46) I’m sure this Minister of Candy fellow is an upstanding individual. I wonder if we will ever meet him. 47) And so we get to the big moment: Genevieve eating a Devil Fruit. Now, one thing that I do that you might have picked up on is that occasionally when I write, I write from a third-person limited perspective focusing on one character’s thoughts. This is best viewed in “The Contrivance Factor” with Peridot’s scene and Onion’s scene. I used this with Greg when he got his Devil Fruit, true, but this gave me the ability to write Genevieve’s perception of color increasing and magnifying in ways that Greg couldn’t comprehend at the time in regards to music. It really made sense to look at it in this manner, as color has several different meanings than the singular attacks that Oda developed (which makes sense in a Shonen manga for attacks, but I felt could be expanded upon).

48) As nearly everybody picked up upon, Genevieve’s newest attack is a reference to the song “I’m the Music Meister” from Batman: The Brave and the Bold’s “Mayhem of the Music Meister.” If you have not watched that episode, do it. It’s an amazing musical. 49) Cadets Howard and Morris are named for writer and character designer Colin Howard and story board artist and supervisor Kat Morris. 50) Genevieve and Nami are both firmly on Team Conniverse. 51) Originally, I had Sanji’s section right after the opening, which made the “praying for a miracle” line transition much nicer as well as the joke that Sanji wrote a modest note for Nami. 52) There’s really not much to say about the Aqua Laguna landfall sequence. It gives the Gems purpose without feeling shoehorned in and builds the tension up for the end of the chapter. The most important piece is that Peridot is at the scrap yard getting a giant pile of scrap for future use. 53) Mr. 2 DID asked to be sent to Impel Down back in “The Fake King Of Alabasta.” 54) I am trying rather hard to drop subtle hints about Sanji’s past in his section without giving much away. I think that if you were not aware of it, it would not give anything away. 55) Peridot’s log date was chosen to show just WHEN she would have theoretically been taken from Earth with the extra numerical place being representative of time spent in another dimension.

56) “Nakama” has been a term I have been using since “The Unexpected Phone Call” as the way that the Straw Hats refer to each other. For those not in the know, “nakama” was used exclusively by Kaizoku Fansubs for the friendship the Straw Hats had for each other, with it coming to a head in Luffy’s Arlong Park declaration of friendship to Nami. They claimed the word couldn’t be translated into proper English, but “friends” and “crew mates” does the job just fine. As such, only older fans of One Piece really know or look fondly back at their persistence in translation. I decided to use it in the story in a very similar way: only pirates from the time of Roger used the term, meaning the two others who would use it are Whitebeard and Shiki.

58) I am totally channeling this famous line from Batman: The Animated Series for Sogeking’s Introduction: “I am vengeance! I am the night! I…AM…BATMAN!”

59) I know I primarily use the translated names for the majority of this story, but Sogeking is just so natural to me that I had to go with it.

In San Francisco, the Revival of the Hotel Bar

San Francisco has long had an excellent bar scene, but, until a few years ago, many of the city’s hotel bars left something to be desired. Overpriced and outdated, they also had a noticeable lack of locals.

Lately, though, San Francisco hotel bars are having a revival, with a wave of cocktail-centric spots featuring creative, accessible drinks and the city’s top bar talent. These high-profile destination cocktail bars have become places that locals and visitors alike are seeking out.

The growing presence of hotel bars with buzz has the attention of industry insiders. “Often, the arrangement is a good financial one for potential bar owners,” said Maggie Hoffman, drinks writer for The San Francisco Chronicle and author of the cocktail book, Batch Cocktails. “These spots are convenient for visitors and give tourists an opportunity to see what San Francisco is capable of, cocktail-wise. But locals definitely go to these places, too.”

One of the first signs of this turnaround was Benjamin Cooper, a speakeasy-style spot that opened at Union Square’s Hotel G in March 2015.

“I have a hard time calling that a hotel bar, and that’s a huge compliment to them,” said Morgan Schick, creative director of BVHospitality, a company that has opened a number of local bars and designed their bar programs. Best known for the award-winning cocktail bar, Trick Dog (still one of the city’s hippest spots), Mr. Schick and his partner, Josh Harris, are behind the bar programs for Charmaine’s and Villon at Proper Hotel, a trendy boutique property that opened on Market Street in the summer of 2017.

Charmaine’s opened in the hotel that November, and immediately attracted attention from local savants thanks to the duo’s stellar reputation, and for the bar’s rooftop location with views of downtown San Francisco and the bustling, warehouse-filled South of Market district. With its plush seating, fire pits and well-heeled clientele, Charmaine’s caused lines to form down McAllister Street.

The al fresco setting influenced Charmaine’s cocktail menu. “Let Me Touch Your Mind,” a coconut-rich Piña Colada layered with a Negroni when served, best sums up the menu for Mr. Schick.

“You think, ‘I’m in a classy-looking place so I’m going to drink a Negroni. But I’m also on vacation with this tremendous view, so I want to drink a Piña Colada, too,’” he said.

A more recent addition to San Francisco’s rooftop bar scene is Everdene, a standout which opened this April atop the new Virgin Hotels San Francisco. Besides taking its name from the heroine of Thomas Hardy’s “Far from the Madding Crowd,” Everdene has a lush, garden party vibe that feels far removed from the crowds below in SoMa. The drinks program consists of brightly colored, flora-heavy sippers (tequila-based “Her Majesty’s Pleasure,” with cucumbers and sugar snap peas, is an early favorite), courtesy of the lead bartender Tommy Quimby, another Trick Dog alum. Mr. Quimby also designed the drinks program for the downstairs hotel bar and restaurant Commons Club, which features spirit-steeped drinks named for original Virgin Records artists.

Over by Union Square, the cocktails at Gibson, which opened in October 2017 in the Hotel Bijou, are familiar flavors done in unfamiliar ways, said the beverage director Adam Chapman. But while you’ll find genre-bending, flavor-packed wonders like the “Clear Bloody Mary” (off menu, but available by request), made with clarified tomatoes, three types of soy sauce, and fermented ponzu, Mr. Chapman does simplify the drink menu’s language.

“Instead of saying ‘sous vide this, centrifuge that,’ we may just say, ‘Huckleberry,’” Mr. Chapman said, adding that if guests are interested in learning more, he’s happy to go deep.

Gibson’s elegant, Art Deco environs with lots of gold detailing, mirrors and high ceilings set it apart from the more understated hotel. Mr. Chapman said outside guests, many of them locals, make up the vast majority of Gibson’s clientele.

Laureate Bar & Lounge, at The Laurel Inn, a cozy, low-key property in Pacific Heights, feels even more like its own entity. A recent Monday night saw a solid crowd of regulars sipping wine and martinis around the minimalist Mid-Century Modern fireplace cut directly into the terrazzo tile.

“We’re a neighborhood bar,” said Sam McGinnis, Laureate’s bar supervisor. “We want you to feel like you’re walking into your best friend’s living room.”

Mr. McGinnis cited the bar’s relatively affordable prices — all cocktails are $12 — and their use of at least one local ingredient in every drink, as part of this effort. Their menu is made of a seasonally rotating selection of drinks (the rainbow-hued Pride Month menu includes “What’s Up, Doc?,” a carrot, ginger and tequila number), but guests can expect surefire hits on their permanent selection of classic cocktails. A pitch-perfect rye Old Fashioned, made with local bitters and served on a large ice cube, would be at home at any top bar in the city.

Tucked in a stunning remodel of a classic Japantown hotel, The Bar at the Hotel Kabuki in Japantown, located between Pacific Heights and Fillmore, has also made price point a means of reaching a local clientele — it offers a daily happy hour with $7 Highballs, alongside spiked tea-centered cocktails for two, and a large selection of Japanese whisky. The Bar is accessed directly from the hotel’s modern, light-filled lobby, but has a cooler, upbeat vibe than a typical hotel bar, complete with curated stacks of books and records.

The main cocktail menu, designed by Stephanie Wheeler (formerly of Three Dots and a Dash in Chicago), centers on Japanese Hanakotoba, the language of flowers. The Chrysanthemum is a popular choice, and a worthy order — the herbaceous, Negroni-like gin drink features local St. George gin infused with goji berry.

The bartenders are knowledgeable, and agile, too; when a menu item was unavailable, the bartender asked a few questions about my spirit and flavor profile preferences, whipping up a nicely balanced, mezcal-based version of a classic Penicillin, typically made with Scotch.

Those looking for a one-two punch of topnotch hotel drinking would do well to head back to Union Square, to the Hotel G, home of the lauded Benjamin Cooper and now, Ayala, an airy seafood restaurant and bar that opened in December — the executive chef Melissa Perfit was previously at San Francisco’s Bar Crudo.

The cocktails are courtesy of the James Beard-nominated bar director, Julian Cox, who most recently was at San Francisco’s Tartine Manufactory. He’s created a menu in close conjunction with the kitchen that’s proving to be a hit with hotel guests, locals, and, significantly, the restaurant industry crowd.

“Every night, it’s like a who’s who of chefs and bartenders coming in,” Mr. Cox said.

With these hotel bars, bartenders are finding there’s a balancing act to appeal to both hotel guests as well as locals. While Mr. Cox prioritizes light, bright drinks that pair well with seafood, along with recognizable classics to appeal to hotel guests, the drinks also have a creative bent. Popular orders include the Castrevelano “Washed” Martini, a surprise hit from the martini section of the menu, and A Diving Bell, a mezcal-centric refresher laced with gin, yuzu and cayenne. The obscure, vermouth-based Ayala Julep has been a favorite.

Mr. Cox sees it as only fitting the direction that the city’s hotel bars are taking.

“Hotels are really where the history of cocktails begins!” he said. “In the golden age of bartending, the hotels were where you wanted to go and drink.”

Meeks seem to acquiesce in our drug prohibition quagmire.

Chicago’s City Club, Chicago’s Crime Commission, Chicago’s Better Government Association and Chicago’s Urban League have all sat quietly on the drug-war sidelines, neither raising a voice nor providing others a platform for voicing the need to legalize drugs.

When potent heroin and prohibition deaths reached beyond the confines of poor Chicago neighborhoods and into well-heeled suburban communities, for example, Orland Park and School District 230 and Mexican drug cartels planted thousands of marijuana plants in the Cook County Forest Preserve District's Sneed and McGinnis Woods, Orland Park mayor Daniel McLaughlin and Orland Township held a drug awareness event at Sandberg High School. But not one word was allowed advocating the legalization of drugs as a better, safer public policy for dangerous drugs.

Within hours of this writing, America will have a new president. The campaigns that opposed and produced President Donald Trump never broached the subject of drug legalization as a policy that might stop epidemic Chicago violence that took 780 lives in 2016. The subject was not even an issue on the table. It never is.

Chicago Tonight, led by Phil Ponce and seen on WTTW-Ch.11, a PBS station, has refused for 25 years to provide a stage for a free and open debate of the merits of drug legalization. The debate is needed to address numerous Chicago crises from gangs to guns; from school versus jail funding to reducing the enormous and unaffordable cost of bullet-hole healthcare; and from police abuse to improved police-community relations.

Chicago’s former mayor Richard M. Daley cut his teeth on drug prohibition prosecution as Cook County State’s Attorney, but neither he nor his successor, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, have dared to venture onto the politically frightening thin ice known as drug legalization, always warmed by old signage and thought – 'Just say NO.’

But necessity is the mother of invention. And when enough mothers loose their children, their neighborhoods, and their patience, just maybe, all those persons and organizations mentioned here, and the many more not named here, will allow the drug legalization debate onto the public stage.

20.3.              AWidening Gyre: Rin survives the Chidori and her existence is now an S-classsecret. Said S-class secret distracts Obito on his way to ambush Kushina’slabour and several different chase scenes take place. They all end up in theROOT base made from one of Tobirama’s old labs and instead of Kyuubi gettingloose Team Ro, the Fourth Hokage’s team of bodyguards, Obito, Anko, and all ofROOT plus Danzo himself get dumped into the Warring Clans Era. Obito killsDanzo in a panic when he realizes that taking the Bijuu means killing Rin,Kakashi sacrifices himself again, and there is a lot more running around. Kakashisuborns ROOT en masse, Obito is stupidly overpowered and homicidal but it’sokay because Kakashi is playing damsel in distress and distracting him. TheSenju and the Uchiha are all really confused by these kids, there are far toomany mistaken identities, and Konoha gets founded much earlier than in canon. Meta

How Madara went from being “nice” to Tobirama tocourting the oblivious younger Senju is still something of a mystery, but thereare several bets riding on when Tobirama is going to realize what’s going on. 20.18.          TsukumogamiNo Kankurou: While he is still very young, Kankurou signs a Summonscontract with the Tsukumogami (aka the Muppet Theater Troupe) and then proceedsto interrupt Yashamaru’s “attack” on Gaara while simultaneously wreaking havocacross the entirety of Sunagakure. All of this is done to get back at Rasa fornot letting Kankurou play with his baby brother. The Middle Child Syndrome isstrong in this one. Never underestimate the power of petty spite. 20.19.          Twice isHappenstance: As a side effect of the battle against Kaguya breakingthrough dimensions, the ghosts of the Uchiha Clan send their memories as farback as possible. Wakana left to take over her family shrine without telling herlovers that she was pregnant. The Rikuo who was born as a result died as aninfant from the Nue’s curse on Nurarihyon’s bloodline. 30.5.              NineRings of Vos: The Epic Seeker Saga where Starscream is the uncontestedleader of the Seekers and he’s using the Great War as a cover to renew his people’spopulation numbers, add some variety to their core coding, and also destroy theCybertronian Government because they liked to make Seekers into their slaves. 30.5.1. Before Dawn: A Rings spin-off where theSeekers are actually all sparklings who disguised themselves as their parentsin order to survive the Great War. Crash-landing on Earth precipitates the BigReveal and also the actual adult Seekers get woken from Government sanctionedstasis thanks to the energy surges caused by resource shipments coming in fromEarth. 31.1.              Old Game,New Rules: Sentinels and Guides are a built in part of society and acertain playing card game ties into that a bit more than most people wouldexpect. There’s a lot of gratuitous soul-bonding smut, worldbuilding runsrampant, and there’s a lot of social commentary on the futility of stereotypingany portion of the population based on a single point of commonality. 31.2.              TheFuture of the Past: Jounouchi’s past life left a surprise in their soulthat the trip to memory world triggers and now Katsuya is living through all ofJono’s memories. WIP – Under Revision

Ichigo and Uryuu are very confused when their“cousin” Kazuma shows up to introduce his new bride to the family. Koenma isjust really pissed off by all the paperwork he needs to deal with whilecleaning up his father’s mismanaged pet project. WIP
