my town was a wasteland, full of cages, full of fences, pageant queens and big pretenders... fell behind all my classmates and i ended up here... growin' up precocious sometimes means not growin' up at all... little did you know your home's really only the town you'll get arrested... you see i was a debutant in another life but now i seem to be scared to go outside... each new enemy turns to steel, they become the bars that confine you in your own little golden prison cell... there's a lot of people in town that i bestow upon my fakest smiles... this cage was once just fine...

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping

look I'm not gonna pretend I know anything about electronics, but sometimes a plug is so big it blocks another socket, and I'm always like "who the fuck do you think you are"

Look at him! He's so cute and he knows that someone posting stupid, brain dead or offensive comments is just trying to get you mad, and you should make fun of them for that.

the love for the ‘big city’ life is something i think that can be fairly teased out as a theme from taylor’s discography. it is what i associate with her anyway lol. i meant ‘ [be] fearless in the big city’ as a reference to her move to new york and all that it represents in contrast to how she tends to talk about her hometown life or even the fictional town she places some of her stories in
to elaborate some more- i was thinking about how taylor uses a (sometimes fictional) small hometown and its associated tropes to flesh out a theme. to me those lines are playing on a common trope about small towns being the fear of the big city. however those who want to escape a small town, they dream of running away to a big city (to new york!)
with mid-size towns there is that hope of further success that comes from moving to a big city but also the allure of a slower life (picket fence, kids, yard) that is associated with a mid-sized town
to me this represents those twin ideas in ‘i hate it here’ of it being a life you chose but also feel trapped by and thus feel hatred (and self-hatred). ttpd keeps coming back to this in various ways
i like this! i landed on "mid-sized city hopes" to mean, wanting more, like fame or fortune, and "small town fears" to be anxiety over being gossiped about, watched, or trapped by traditional expectations. agreed ttpd visits these ideas over and over!!

white americans when you tell them that the idea of climate change as an impending disaster is a reductive first world perspective because it’s a tangible reality for many in the global south already:
