ORIGIN STORY TIME!!

Thanks to the recent hype, I'm being reabsorbed into the Blue Lock franchise/fandom. My sleep schedule has shifted back from 12:00AM to 3:00AM. I've been high off of endorphins reading the official paperbacks, and now hangovers are whooping my gluteus maximus. ;-;

Anyway, it all starts with my love for ma boi, Nagi. I read this series back in 2020 or 2021, and to this day, one of my favorite scenes is the one where he scores the first goal at the U-20 match. So, naturally, I wanted to set my new phone wallpaper as that!

30 minutes of Googling, Binging, and Pinteresting... nothing.

How?

IDK.

With no satisfactory wallpaper, I looked at my drawing tablet and thought, Well, fak it. Imma do it myself. *inserts Thanos meme*

And that's how the nightmare started. :D

I find my references, and BAM. Sketch done. Pretty EZ cuz I had a solid vision in mind already.

A quick greyscale filling and dramatic eye color.... and I was done!

But on hon hon! YOU FOOL!

Curled like a shrimp, I stared at my new lockscreen. (Maybe this is a lesson for me to never stare at my art for more than 5 minutes.) Strangely, I felt a churn of dissatisfaction (or midnight hunger).

Maybe I should add some more saturation.

And so, after two days of trying to draw grass and people instead of seeing their 3D counterparts (JK, I still had to go to work and utilize my vernacular amongst those fleshy beings)... I finally finished.

OK. Maybe not finished finished...

Who am I kidding? Give me another three minutes to stare at my new lock screen and I'll probably start learning Blender to 3D animate my wallpaper or background or smth.

Next is also a drawing from our endless convos, a matching phoencharm idea for adeuce and you, specifically in the tattoo au as to show that adeuce won, leading to more desperate forms of trying to get you for themselves from the rest fo the students.

This is how Ace looks when he gets rejected trust, this is ace heartbreak. I swear I have this animated somewhere I'll see if I can find it.

Next, this I believe was a loooooong post idea where you do a "hear me out" cake with adeuce, only for them to each whip out a pic of you and put on the cake (as a sort of confession), leading to the other reacting about the confession and said trend. Either was gonna make you get together with adeuce or just leave it up to interpretation.

Next was the "invented " designs of the characters (aka "we have twst at home"), this still makes me crack up

Next was a scenario with yan Riddle. This one is pretty old, seen as I used the coloring brush as lineart instead of my dumbass ms paint brush. I still like it tho, but eh.

Same with this Trey drawing. I believe I was gonna make him "you can trust me, im an ordnary older brother achtype and totally normal" like he wouldn't lick your teeth when you kiss him.

I also have this really fucking dumb artwork of azul in my sensory overload (YABABAINA esk) style, he is so colorful mmm I love :P this style is just so fun to draw in trust

SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE THIS CHANGED MY ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP WITH MY ART. I used to never finish my bigger pieces, because lineart (especially after spending ages on my sketches) took so long and was a super tedious and upsetting process. I stopped doing lineart layers almost entirely about a year ago. I ONLY use a sketch layer now. I finish a big piece pretty much every other day if I can nowadays. my sketches, messy or clean, bring me so much joy!!!! it seriously is about having fun. and its not about having fun OVER being good at art. HAVING FUN MAKES YOU BETTER AT ART. it shows! how much you like making art shows!!! let it show. perfectionism can be a real pain but

here are a few of my favourite pieces from the last few weeks, if you zoom in you can see that while they're not SUPER sketchy, they're not super tidy either. I also love doing messier sketches but! I thought I'd show what art can look like with a pencil brush and a bit of carelessness and a LOT of love.

if you find yourself having more fun sketching than you do with lineart, it might be time to have more fun with your art than you currently are [:

if you are ever looking to improve your art/get better.

stop caring about perfect line art! the more dynamic a drawing is with how sketchier and messier it is, and working around cleaning up the sketch saves you so much more time. but even if you do line art, don't worry so much about perfection, just have fun and you'll see how better it feels. just my silly advice

ONE good turn deserves another i would say...... meaning a big trip thru the lb tab collecting a folder of relevant unconscionable violence vibes i didnt even get to use all of*/push as far as i could have. and then a lot of time doing chain-licking meditations on big blocky 3d shapes. and then a lot of time wrestling with that one csp 3d model pose set. things i gained a heightened appreciation for in this venture: the way that megs' pelvis design elements look like he has a jacket tied around his waist. CUTE. his BIIIIIG fucking boots i didnt get to show off. his faaaaaaaace chiseling. oppies 1:1 accuracy little windshield wipers. difference in frame between them (most of the robots seem to have narrow waists but i like that i can accurately draw megs still a little Built there. fun!) the joiiiiinnnnntt articulation logic on these guys is so neat kudos to. franchise full of robot designers that are extra incentivized to make them at least somewhat real-world workable.

+ honorable mention: THEYRE SO WIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE. taking up the entire 4:3 frame space in episodes. throwing out half the oversketch notes i took of the csp models bc they simply did not matter and would not be visible underneath both of these guys blocking each other kjghsdf

And we're back! I switched back to my original lineart brush but I used the one i've been using for shading, I like this better. Let's get into it!

The boys are here! Emberstar really said "men, am I right?"

I'm surprised its Lightleaf. The three potentials were Sparkfur, Lightleaf, or Mistface. Lightleaf has been quite distant and emotionless ever since Flintpaw was killed...

"Deerstep?"

"Yes, little kit?" Deerstep winked playfully. Dawnpaw frowned.

"Did you....know Dawnfoot?" She asked quietly. Deerstep sighed. She knew the questions would come but...this soon?

"I did. Not for long. I met her shortly before she was killed." Deerstep said softly.

"I heard Silverstorm mumbling about her. Is that why she won't look at me?" Dawnpaw asked, eyes rounded. Deerstep sighed, pulling her apprentice close.

"It doesn't matter who you look like, or who you're named after. You are Dawnpaw, with your own successes and failures. We're both sort of outsiders here, and I think that's why Emberstar picked me as your mentor." She licked the top of her head.

"Whether i'm Waterfern or Deerstep, and whether you're Dawnpaw or Fluffybutt, doesn't matter. Your choices matter, and what you do with your life, is yours to make."

"I guess." Dawnpaw sighed. She closed her eyes for a brief moment, before grinning up at her mentor.

"Embertstar won't really name me Fluffybutt, would she?"

"Keep slacking off and she just might!"

I was so happy when I got this, I've been wanting Dawnpaw to have this kind of moment for a long time. We stan emotional growth Deerstep

Today is the day I unleash my Mr. Bonzo fanart upon this webbed site.

Is the *tips fedora* meme over a decade old? Yes. Do I care? No, absolutely not.

Now this is where I recommend "getting off" this post to anyone bothered by graphic depictions of body horror, blood, violence, or Mr. Bonzo (monster, not mascot like above).

I know the first image is silly, but I cannot stress enough how serious I am when I say:

Now that you have chosen to continue, I have arranged the images in order of least to most vile and disturbing (though that might be slightly subjective on my part).

Final warning: split tongue Bonzo.

I tried channeling Julia Drawfee with the lineart a little bit. Didn't feel like shading that one, so it's a bit flat.

Where did I lose my colours? Plot twist: the first image in this post is actually the last I've made, so technically I gained the colours. I wanted it to have more of a cheery vibe, unlike the ones under the cut, which I wanted to be kinda dreary and I feel like adding too much colour can mess that up.

Alright, I'll address the tongue. Remember how his head splits in tmagp 12? Yeah, it's a nod to that and also I asked myself "how do I make his design worse than it already is?" and that's the only answer I could come up with. I debated adding stitches connesting the two halves of the tongue but couldn't figure out how, so you're welcome. It will be present in all the upcoming drawings as well.

The next one is bloody, but it's not that much worse than the previous one overall.

I was playing with filters after I was done with this piece, because I felt like it lacked something, but didn't know what. Really liked this one, I think it's some sort of a gradient map. It pixelised the image and adjusted the colours a bit, it also really made the blood pop out, though it covered up some of the details.

Why did he lose his hat? It's stupid and hard to draw.

You may have noticed the artstyle change a little, the previous images having neat lineart and little to no shading. That's because I am using different tools, sketchy and soft brushes, that allow me to experiment with lighting and textures more (plus the aforementioned filter altering the image even further).

Alright, I feel like this last image deserves a separate warning. It references episode 12 (spoiler ahead), specifically the moment before the bartender loses a hand, though it's not entirely accurate. It's rendered in more detail than any of the previous images, so keep that in mind before scrolling down.

Basically it's pov: Bonzo licks your hand.

I feel like I could've made his tongue bigger in this one, it seems kinda small compared to his mouth. I really like how the skin on his face ended up looking. It took a lot of work.

The spit makes it look weirdly sexual, doesn't it? Listen, that was not my intention, but I'm not erasing it. I set out to make the worst thing I could and, though not without cost, I have achieved it.

I tried splattering Bonzo in blood, but it wasn't really working for me and it covered up a lot of the detail I liked, so I just put it in the background.

The human hand is drawn from reference, which I found by googling "hand reaching out away from the viewer". And let me tell you: google is shit at looking for drawing references, but I figured it was just going to be a sketch to explore an idea, so I didn't bother trying to get a better one. And then I fixated on it for a couple hours, you know, like a normal person.

I literally (and I mean no exaggeration) dusted off my drawing tablet after a few months of no use to spend the entire weekend, after tmagp 12 came out, glued to the screen making those images, except for the b'onzo one, which I made this evening.

Just to clarify: I drew all of those by myself. No filthy AI image generation is allowed in this house. I am capable of committing far greater sins than an artificial intelligence ever will.

The only thing left here is to extend my sincere congratulations/condolences to whoever got this far. It's up to you to either think you're brave or realise that you're foolish for doing so, but be comforted by the fact that at least you didn't make this post, which I cannot say for myself.
