the past always seems to find a way of catching up!

big side-eye to all those rich "victims" as well, babe are you dumb or just privileged? maybe don't trust shady strangers so easily next time! investing millions because some rando in nice clothes asks real nice? didn't do their due diligence looking into anna before throwing away piles of money. played themselves if u ask me. no sympathy for people who can't be bothered to do basic research and protection of their assets. can't fix stupid after all.

recently, i had a frustrating conversation with my mother about anna sorokin, commonly known as anna delvey.

for those unfamiliar, ms. delvey is a con artist who posed as a wealthy heiress in new york from 2013 to 2017. she was convicted for grand larceny and theft of services, along with first degree attempted grand larceny.

ms. delvey is an illegal immigrant, like many others in america. however, unlike the millions of immigrants in america, she was able to fight her deportation case whilst competing in dancing with the stars. dont get me wrong, its impressive to perform in that show, even as an illegal immigrant, but the fact of the matter is that she is given special treatment for seemingly no reason other than she had a pretty decent docu-series on netflix.

why should ms. delvey get special privilege, whilst many are held in inhumane immigration detention centers? why should she waltz free (sorry, waltz with an ankle brace), while many others like her sit in horrid conditions? millions, NOT CRIMINALS, are put in places separated from loved ones.

my mother battles her deportation case with the fear of being separated from her family. anna delvey battles her deportation case from the comfort of a NYC apartment, running a podcast.

the problem is not that anna delvey is an illegal immigrant, but that others like her do not have the same luxuries as her.

and most of them haven’t committed a crime, either.

What are you currently watching??

Nothing really. I've been rewatching some Garfield cartoons and a little of Inventing Anna though.

However—I just finished Kaos and what a marvelous show it is! I'm so disappointed Netflix cancelled it.

Recently, I decided to watch Inventing Anna. To be honest, I was sceptical at first, but the series turned out to be very interesting! About a year ago, I read about all that happened and, for obvious reasons, did not feel sympathy for Anna. But the plot of the series is really exciting and besides, it is based not only on Anna's story, but also on the life of an interested journalist who decided that this story deserves to be known.
