First impression 

Hmmm, I think I was sort of neutral about him? I didn’t pay attention to him too much. At the time I had a huge crush on Dib (I was 12 😭) and so I didn’t bother paying attention to the more minor characters but one day he just wormed his way into my brain

Impression now 

I think they did him so good in Enter the Florpus (I need to rewatch it omg) and I find him to be a much better father now. Also he’s immensely nostalgic to me for obvious reasons <3

Favorite moment

Gotta be a tie between when he places Gaz on his head and his hair wraps around her like a seatbelt or in Florpus when he’s fighting off the invaders with his like TWO ROBOT ARMS… like actual chills

Idea for a story

I haven’t written for him in a long time but my last idea for him was a really dark fic in which he dies, becomes a ghost, and has to observe the way that his children cope with his loss 😭 I think I was going to have the story revolve around his guilt of not being a better father and being unable to do anything about it. Honestly just a tragic story all around



Unpopular opinion 

(This is from what I’ve observed pre-Florpus) I think a lot of people used to like villainize Professor Membrane because he was a bad father (which I agree with) but I really don’t think he was much worse than anyone else. Like Zim was trying to literally destroy humanity, Gaz was physically abusive to Dib, the Tallest were corrupt leaders who treated the other Irkens like they were expendable and discriminated against short Irkens without a care… Dib is really the most morally sound character but even he’s got his flaws. Like he is obsessive to a fault, incredibly impulsive and will put people in danger in the name of “saving humanity”. Everyone in that show has got their problems so to point to one guy and be like “he’s the most bad” is wrong in my personal onion

Favorite relationship 

Familial of course but Gaz and Professor Membrane! The episode where Gaz really wants to go to Bloaty’s with him is both touching and sad—like she really does love her father despite his neglect/absence

Favorite headcanon

Probably that he doesn’t cover up his face for any reason in particular—obviously in the lab his outfit serves to protect him, but outside the lab? He’s just Like That LOL
