Master list
Tumblr media
*.·:·BANG CHAN
Type: Manipulative Violence: 50-100% Possessive: 86% Jealousy: 65%
Punishments: Manipulation
The relationship looks normal at first glance. Chan takes care of you, but not so much that it feels like you're dependent on him. He lets you talk to people and leave the house. He waited until you were ready before moving you into his home, and he still waited.
You were cozy in the Venus flytrap, and its jaws were slowly closing.
He'd pick your friends off one by one. Chan starts with the acquaintances. They're not close to you, so it shouldn't hurt that much for them to leave you. He puts wedges between you and anyone trying to separate you. Your friend who had a crush on you is gone.
Chan is a dangerous yandere because of his awareness. He knows what he's doing is unhealthy and probably immoral, but he wants you. Chan needs you.
I don't think Chan would really have a punishment for you.
He'd just be doing the same thing he's been doing. He'll guilt trip you into feeling bad for lashing out. You think Chan is too possessive? You're right, but can you blame him? Anyone who looks at you would want to eat you like a snack and take you home with them for leftovers. He's just being cautious.
The jaws are shut, but something is stopping you from panicking.
Tumblr media
*.·:·LEE MINHO
Type: Possessive Controlling Violence: 56-97% Possessive: 100% Jealousy: 100%
Punishments: Isolation and Drugging Humiliation
Minho is yours out of courtesy. You are Minho's because he wants you. There is a difference. As soon as you learn it, everything will be easier for Minho for you.
As seen in this post, Minho likes to play with you. It doesn't matter if you don't want to play, he wants to play, and you will. If he can see the exhaustion in your eyes, then Minho will let you rest. Hope that he can see it. Hope, pray, do whatever.
The more "tired" you act, the less likely Minho is to give you a break. In a way, he wants you to break. How else will Minho know what not to do?
You're moving sluggish? Then we're moving around. You're about to fall asleep? Have this melatonin gummy that's actually an energy booster. Minho wants you to break so he can fix you.
If you start lashing out, Minho will make you more compliant. He'll slip it into your drink or your food. Depending on how exhausted you are, will depict how much he gives you. Minho doesn't want to kill you. He'd not let anyone else have you, not even death.
If you go, Minho goes. You are his, and you can't leave.
When you're delirious, he locks you in a room. Not your bedroom, of course. Minho wants that room to be a safe space for you. He'll lock you in the hallway closet if you're claustrophobic. Or he'll stick you in the basement with the lights off. Of course, you're in a concealed room, so nothing can get you, but you can't see that.
I'm a firm believer that Minho would humiliate you as punishment. He'll finally take you out of the house. He'll pick your outfit himself, and when you come downstairs and question his outfit, he waves you off. "I want the attention to be on you."
And it will be. What were you thinking about wearing colors to an all-black event? Why are you off the theme?
Tumblr media
*.·:·SEO CHANGBIN
Type: Protective Violence: 75-95% (Never to you) Possessive: 100% Jealousy: 12%
Punishments: Isolation
Sure, your happiness is important, but your safety is Changbin's top priority. You need to be healthy and protected. If this means killing someone disturbing your peace, then that's okay. If Changbin is causing you distress, he'll isolate the both of you for a break. Then it's back to being stuck together.
If you let him, Changbin will take care of you. He'll feed you, he'll bathe you, and he'll dress you. He will do everything for you until you tell him to stop, and even then, Changbin will push those limits.
Changbin's possessiveness is laced in his need to keep you safe. He would love for you to live your life. But why can't you live your life in the safety of his arms?
You think he's harming you? Well, imagine everyone else. What if he wasn't there? They're worse than him. They have no regard for your being, and Changbin knows this.
He's certain of it.
Your punishment is Changbin's dream. He'll lock you up in a room where you can't be hurt. Where you're safe. Where else is better for you?
Changbin who hides the number of lives he's taking to "keep you safe." He's certain your mind won't be able to handle it. You can barely look at the news about their deaths. So imagine finding out they're tied to you?
Tumblr media
*.·:·HWANG HYUNJIN
Type: Delusional Violence: 5% (Unintentional) Possessive: 98% Jealousy: 79-100%
Punishments: Isolation
You need him, and Hyunjin needs you. It's a fact, and you can't go against a fact. Well, you can, but you would be wrong. You and Hyunjin were meant to be. You were together in past lives. You will be together in future lives. In all timelines, you are together.
But Hyunjin is in this timeline, in the present, and he wants you now.
Hyunjin doesn't just love you. Hyunjin knows he is in love with you. He needs you like his lungs need air, how his heart needs blood. How the trees need our breath. But you don't want him? No, you're just confused.
And if not? Hyunjin will wait for the next life.
But in this life? Hyunjin doesn't mind ending it early. His body will be in the ground, his soul in the stars, and his breath in the sky. You have no choice but to be with him.
When you walk, your feet touch the ground Hyunjin's body is in. When you breathe, you inhale his air. When you cherish the stars in the sky, they sparkle and shine for you. They are his soul and past lives shining on you.
Hyunjin would never hurt you on purpose. He has no issues with locking you up if it means keeping you in check and him from lashing out at you.
"I will never hurt you. People don't harm who they love," Hyunjin tells you. He tells you this as he locks you in a room with a see-through door. Ironic coming from him, but at least you don't have to worry about him hurting you.
Hyunjin has no issues with giving you time. Time with him, but still time to realize that you are meant to be.
Hyunjin who is overjoyed when you finally return his feelings. Who is overjoyed when the Stockholm syndrome hits.
Tumblr media
*.·:·HAN JISUNG
(I had to let him marinate cause this was pissing me off ;-;)
Type: Quiet One Violence: 76-100% Possessive: Jealousy:
Punishments: Murder (not you)
Jisung is the type with earbuds on and scrolling on his phone to make the act believable. He's not listening to anything, but no one knows that. Jisung is eavesdropping on your conversation.
Jisung watches from the shadows. He leans against walls, tucks himself into corners, and hides in plain sight. Jisung needs to know everything about you.
Jisung takes your lost pencils, favorite candy wrapper, and anything you thought you "lost." Jisung who puts your things on the shrine in his basement.
Jisung finds everything about your family and friends. He finds out their habits and their tales. What makes them tick? How can he get them to put in a good word for him? Jisung, who fakes a smile for your love.
Jisung trains himself to be around you. He sneaks into your room and stands as close to you as he can without becoming a mess. He walks a little ways away from you and shortens the distance as he progresses. Jisung who hides his obsession out of fear of losing you.
Jisung who wouldn't hurt a fly, repeatedly stabs the person stealing you. His heart is steady, his face his blank, and his body doesn't tremble. Jisung who kills those who harm you, even those you don't know.
Tumblr media
*.·:·LEE FELIX
Type: Clingy Violence: 0% Possessive: 79-100% Jealousy: I don't know
Punishments: Manipulation
This relationship starts normal, but the longer you stay with Felix, the more his obsession progresses. It's a little hard for him to breathe without you, like running for miles with asthma and no inhaler.
Felix would never hurt anyone. You don't know that, though. Felix doesn't like death, and Felix doesn't want to hurt you in any way. Not truly, so Felix gives threats. Behave, or he'll kill *blank*. Stop acting out, or he'll take *blank* out.
If you ever call his bluff, he'll get fake blood and a dead body. Felix will stage the act. You come home, and it's peaceful until you hear noise from the basement. What's that red stuff on the counter?
When you get downstairs, there's blood everywhere, and your best friend hangs by their wrists from their ceiling. When you try to run, Felix, covered in blood, is in the doorway. He knocks you out, and you wake up in your bed.
Felix is scared out of his sleep by your panicked breaths. When you tell him of your "nightmare," his eyes will dull, and he'll look near lifeless. Your phone rings before you can question him, and it's your best friend. As you're talking to them, you glance at Felix, but he's back to normal.
Felix who kisses your cheek and wishes you a good morning before taking a shower. While he's in the bathroom, you check the kitchen and the basement, but everything is normal. When you get back upstairs, Felix is plaiting the table with your favorite breakfast food.
"Did you find what you were looking for?" Felix's face is concerned, but his tone is knowing.
Tumblr media
*.·:·KIM SEUNGMIN
Type: Laidback Violence: 26% Possessive: Discreetly at 75% Jealousy: I'm conflicted
Punishment: Taking things from you
Seungmin doesn't want you stressing at all. If you have a problem, he'll fix it. Kidnapping you is too much work, so you won't have to worry about that. Seungmin will let you see your friends and family, and let you go out without him.
He knows you would never leave him.
As an idol, Seungmin can get people to watch you when he's not with you. As a person with "normal" status, he finds a way to convince your friends that you have a stalker and he just wants updates on your safety.
They'll send discreet pictures of you so you aren't panicking. They're trying to keep you safe. What if your stalker is watching you now? Seungmin wouldn't lie about your safety. He loves you, and they know it.
You're starting to sneak around? He'll find out why you're sneaking. If it isn't a surprise for him then you have no business creeping around. He should know everything. You should willingly tell Seungmin everything, or at least make it easy for him to find out himself.
Seungmin's punishments start small. It starts with your passions. You like art? Your pencils are snapped, and your paints have been left with the caps off. You make music? Your instruments are locked away or smashed to pieces. Seungmin won't break something of sentimental value. Your studio is locked with everything inside it.
Maybe you like books? If he has to, Seungmin will go through your favorite book and fold the corners. He'll crease the spines of your books and lock them away so that when you get them back, they're messed up.
You read online? You have a Kindle or an app on your phone? That's fine. Your library is cleared out, and he'll start a new book just to make sure there isn't a "Start where you left off" option.
Seungmin isn't evil. He'll make a list of all the books in your library, online or on a shelf, and keep perfect copies. He'll buy you new paints or get you new instruments.
Seungmin who will send a picture of you with your family if you run away. "I hope nothing bad happens to them while you're gone."
Tumblr media
*.·:·YANG JEONGIN
Type: Obsessive Violence: Depends Possessive: 50-95% Jealousy: 76%
Punishment: Isolation, self-harm,
You're all he can think about. Jeongin depends on you. He can't eat, his sleep schedule is nonexistent, and he hasn't been outside unless you bring him.
Tell him to give you space, and Jeongin will hand it to you. He'll be fucking miserable, but he'll give you all the space and time you need. When you finally come back to him, kiss him long and slow or fast and intense.
Jeongin doesn't care. He wants you to be stuck to him like glue until you get sick of him and need a break.
Jeongin is fragile. His world revolves around you. You are the sun that brightens his day and the moon that guides him in the night. Lashing out at him about anything is a direct blow to his heart and soul.
You yelling at Jeongin. = You hate Jeongin.
He can't live while you hate him. He lives to please you. If you hate him, then Jeongin has failed you. Failing you means he failed himself, and life is too good for failure as bad as this.
Jeongin who tells you with a blank face but love-filled eyes that he would die for your love. Jeongin who will proudly show you each scar as punishment for making you "hate" him.

It's sad to me that if the Milgram cases were Real with ALL the character traits/situational factors being the Same and we analyzed the people the same way we do the characters, we'd all be mocked and degraded for humanizing these "muderers" (except MAYBE Shidou and Yuno but that's not even beginning to touch the other end of the spectrum; some of the patronizing the fans do of characters reflect their real-life sense of "pity" etc.)
Like obviously people are gonna be wary about actions that lead to Death but tbh ALL THESE MURDERS WERE PREVENTABLE WITH BETTER SOCIETAL STRUCTURES
this wasn't supposed to be a long post but fuck it
Haruka needed a caretaker and a care team who understood his emotional and physical needs; he was neglected and compared instead, left to cope with intensely painful emotions alone.
Yuno is highly isolated and seeks feelings of warmth and closeness in quick gratification, because giving your heart to someone else in a selfish world is dangerous; she needed honesty and realness, and also an economy that doesn't make men's objectification of her an ideal career choice.
Fuuta is also highly isolated and has extremely punitive views; his "community" was built on vitriol instead of good faith.
Muu is a neglected teen who lashed out as a result of the social structures she and her friends perpetuated; a culture of perfectionism and hierarchal notions make desperation to stay "on top" explosive.
Shidou shouldn't live in a world where he has to "deceive" people to help transplant patients, or suffer with guilt over his own family; a culture of death acceptance and genorosity would help him overcome these horrible feelings.
Mahiru had her mind fixated on a highly commercialized/mainstream idea of "love" and "romance," wrapping her self-worth in it to the point where she pulled another down; had her partner been honest with her, in a world where saving face and repression wasn't more important than communicating, they could have been at peace with or without each other.
Kazui was forced by the expectations of others to play a role he never wanted to, and another human's hopes and dreams were wrapped up in this role; his "failure" to be a husband to her as a straight man would not have even been an issue in a world where everyone can explore themselves without shame.
Amane was raised with cult ideology and shown immense levels of violence for a child to comprehend; she should have been protected, and a world where safety is more important than ideology would have saved their whole family.
Mikoto was heavily abused to the point where "survive by any means necessary" is on the table; everyone involved in his "murder" would have been better off showing a lot more compassion to others AND themselves.
Kotoko, though no "tragic backstory" that we know of, has always known that this world and that people in it can be violent and cruel; giving them a taste of their own medicine wouldn't be so bad if the medicine weren't so horrible to begin with.
If this world sought understanding before judgement, Es would not have the weight of 10+ worlds on their shoulders.
But if the world wasn't this way, we wouldn't have Milgram.
So it goes.

I understand that we should just block content we don't wanna see, but I still think things like proships or ships that are wrong and illegal in irl should be kept private. Because that is exposing kids to the romantization of abuse, incest, and pedophilia. This content may expose them to predators, which could cause them harmful trauma, the type that people claim to use proshipping for. They may think that a person older than them liking a kid is ok, even though the adult has bad intentions. We know that they are fictional characters, but they represent real people and can still affect kids. And if this isn't supposed to affect them irl, why do so many groomers show proship media and illegal art to grow kids?
Don't want to start anything just curious
I think the short version of the argument is basically "the internet shouldn't have to be a 100% sanitized and safe space for children". But getting further into it...
"but I still think things like proships or ships that are wrong and illegal in irl should be kept private."
It's not worth mentioning now but "proships" aren't a thing. Proship doesn't stand for problematic ship, it's not an adjective.
My question is why this line of thinking only applies to ships? Murder and cannibalism are also illegal, but no one's going around saying you should keep your love of horror to yourself, or only watch R rated movies in the privacy of your own home.
"Because that is exposing kids to the romantization of abuse, incest, and pedophilia."
The majority of people interacting with media like this, or making posts about this, DO NOT want kids interacting with their content! They slap every rating, warning label, and trigger tag under the sun onto their work to say that it is not for kids. At the end of the day, that's all you can do. It is not one random proshipper's job to shelter every single child in the world.
Furthermore, kids are exposed to that crap from plenty of other places besides randos on tumblr. Walking into a library or turning on a television can easily expose kids to these topics just as much as going onto ao3 or opening tumblr could. That doesn't mean every professional author or tv writer on earth needs to create art that's palatable for children. Because that's not their responsibility.
"This content may expose them to predators"
It's grim to say, but literally anything on earth could potentially expose a child to a predator. Getting on the bus, going to the park, going to school, going to church, going to a friend's house, going home. Honestly I think it's a bit of a privileged mindset to think that a child would be 100% safe in this world if it weren't for faceless boogeymen online committing the sin of writing dark fic of their Blorbos.
"which could cause them harmful trauma,"
Again, that trauma could come from anywhere. And you're putting the weight of preventing that onto random strangers online, not anyone who's concretely in the hypothetical child's life, or actually responsible for them
"the type that people claim to use proshipping for"
Appreciate the subtleties of invalidating other people's trauma. Just because you don't have the same coping mechanisms doesn't mean theirs are invalid. Especially when countless licensed therapists agree that writing is one of the better ways you can help process trauma.
And to state the obvious, you don't need to have trauma to be a proshipper. Not everyone uses dark content for self reflection, some people just think it's neat.
"They may think that a person older than them liking a kid is ok, even though the adult has bad intentions."
A kid should not be getting 100%, or even most of their life lessons from fictional media. Parents, guardians, teachers, and other trusted adults in a child's life are the ones who need to teach them right from wrong, and how to protect themselves. I remember being a kid and being told by my mom "now if a stranger pulls up to you and says they lost their puppy and they'll give you candy if you help them look for it, do NOT go with them". That was her job as a parent.
Now I know that sadly, not every child has that kind of trusted adult in their life. But it's not the responsibility of a bunch of fanfic authors on tumblr to fill in the gaps.
"We know that they are fictional characters, but they represent real people and can still affect kids."
It doesn't matter how closely or loosely fiction depicts our reality, it's still just fiction at the end of the day. Movies have been using the whole "Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental" disclaimer for almost as long as there have been movies.
"And if this isn't supposed to affect them irl, why do so many groomers show proship media and illegal art to grow kids?"
One, art is not illegal. Unless you get caught graffiti-ing, then you might get fined. And no one is saying this kind of thing can't affect a child. But why, in this scenario, are you putting the blame on fanfic authors and fanartists before putting the blame on the actual groomer??
And again I ask, what exactly is "proship media" anyway? I'm guessing the kind of stuff that constantly appears on people's DNI lists, which could be anything from Steven Universe to Cannibal Holocaust, so who really knows??
Like I said in the short version, the internet should not have to be sanitized for the sake of the children. The entire internet does not need to be one giant safe space for kids. Adults have a right to talk about adult things with other adults. To explore dark topics in fiction, or to have fun with taboos in a harmless way.
I want the world to be safe for kids too. But the way to do that isn't to forbid adults from posting shit online. Instead of trying to shield children from every controversial, difficult, or uncomfortable topic under the sun, give them the tools they need to learn how to process these things.
Be a safe person to talk to if a kid has a question. Help them understand why something might be okay in a fantasy setting, but it's not something that should carry over into real life (like, a fairy tale prince kissing an sleeping princess to break a curse is fine, but in real life where there's no magic you should always make sure someone is okay with it before kissing them. Something like that)
Teach them internet safety, above all else. When I was a kid, you didn't give out any personal info. Nowadays kids have no qualms about giving out their full name, age, list of phobias and disorders, showing their school, their house - the list goes on.
Honestly, I think we need to go back to scaring kids with Stranger Danger, at least a little. But that's starting to veer into a different topic and I think I've said all I need to say about this one today.

Five summers ago
Natalie's hand ran down your abdomen, making your eyes squint. "This is bad. We shouldn't-" The blonde silenced you with a kiss, which you whimpered at. She smiled at you, and suddenly all your bad thoughts disappeared. Still, the knot inside your chest was there. "This isn't bad" She whispered, pecking soft kisses into your jaw. "We love each other. What's wrong with that?"
You and Nat met two years before, when her father, Hugh, and her younger brother came after hearing the charismatic sermons your mother did. You soon noticed that although the teen followed and respected the Seraphite traditions, she did question them. As you did, in secret. So when you and her started becoming friends, you felt nervous around her. She didn't treat you like a sacred goddess, like the rest of the commune. She treated you like a normal being. But was it normal when she sought for your warmth? When she kissed you on the lips? You didn't know. Or maybe you knew, and yet still did it. "Your mother's thoughts about this is what's wrong. Why can men and women do this, and we can't?"
You couldn't answer that question. So, instead, you kissed her again. Because every time you did, your chest stopped hurting. Everything stopped hurting.
Everything changed two months later. You remember it all too well. Natalie didn't come that night though your window, as she always did. You didn't see her all day, either, and you started thinking she may have gone with her father for patrol. But something didn't feel right. You were about to escape to find out where she was, when your two guards opened your door, grabbing your arms and forcing you to walk. You screamed for your mother, pleading to her as tears threatened to come out. What was happening? Why Alec and Rosemary grabbed your wrists so tight?
They took you to the coast of the island, everyone was there, with torches in their hand and forming a circle around a big stick of wood. Nat was there. She was tied up with a rope, unconscious. You remember seeing her father, begging and crying at your mother. She nodded at Jason, and with a swift movement, he cut Hugh's throat. You remember screaming. You remember watching your mother speak about loyalty to the commune. About what to believe. About what was right, and what was wrong. You remember everyone throwing their torches at Natalie. You remember seeing her body burning. You remember screaming and throwing up. The last thing you remember was completely dark.
You woke up later, gasping or air. You were locked inside the chokey; a small, pitch-dark closet with broken glass and nails stuck to the walls. You mourned your friend's death. After hours of crying, you screamed for help. It was your mother who opened the casket you were trapped in. You hugged her tight, but she didn't say anything. Trying to look at her for comfort, you only saw disappointment. She whispered your name, "You need to tell your sins to me"
So you did. For every misdemeanor you did with Natalie, a strong whip was felt on your back. You didn't try to complain, because it is what you deserved. The thing about the whipping was that it would leave a path of notorious marks along your body, so every time you saw them, you would remember your mistakes. Your shouts were heard in every corner of the island.
After telling her everything, she dropped the lash, and made you turn back to her so you could see her. "The lord gave you another chance" Her warm hand found your cheek. "Don't ruin it in misdeeds. You are our salvation, don't ever forget that"
You nodded, and let her take you back to your room. The looks of disgust stopped after a month. They were able to forgive you for what you did. But you weren't sure if you could forgive them.
Tumblr media
"Hey" The voice of Ellie brought you back. "You zoomed out for a while there"
You weren't in Haven anymore. You were in a boat with a stranger you just met two days ago. "Sorry, it's just been years since I left"
Ellie nodded, looking at your eyes as if she could read them, "It's okay" You avoided her gaze, focusing on the view behind her. "We're getting close to the harbor. Grab your backpack"
Both of you started your way back to Ellie's first mission: to end Abby and all of her friends. You realized not asking why the redhead wanted that. You weren't sure you wanted to know, either. Hours passed and you followed quietly the girl. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, at least for you, but Ellie hated silence. So she tried to make you talk. Somehow, your voice soothed her. "You knew those two, right?"
She was talking about Lyra and Edmund. "Yeah, yeah, I know them"
"You are quite popular out there" She giggled. Her smile made you shiver. "You could say that" Was all your voice said.
When the night came, you and Ellie searched for a place to sleep. After making a bonfire, Ellie turned to face you, seeing if you could sleep. She pouted after seeing your winced expression. Ellie lifted her fingers and almost, almost, reached your face to comfort your pain, to try to take it away. But she removed before she made contact with your soft skin.
The sun came up and Ellie woke up, alone. You were gone, and your stuff was too. She looked rapidly at her own backpack, but everything was in its place. She started spiraling, thinking about when you could have left, why did you go, and where could you be now. But every question answered itself when you came back to her eyesight.
"Hey. Brought food" You raised your hand to show her the rabbit you hunted.
Somehow, Ellie felt like she could breathe again since she woke up. She tried not to look too close into this new emotion that jumped inside her chest every time she saw you. "Good, good. Bring it here"
Later, Ellie couldn't stop looking at you, like she wanted to say something. So, you encouraged her to speak. "It's nothing, just... You could've waited f'me. To go hunt together"
You shrugged, "You needed to sleep. I wanted to be useful while you rested". At the commune, no one let you do anything, because everything was already done by everyone else. However, outside the commune, you could show that you werent just the chosen one. You were much more than that. And you wanted to exhibit that with Ellie.
She wanted to tell you that you were useful, and you didn't need to prove yourself. You just needed to stay. But Ellie didn't say anything. She just finished her food. And you were back at the road.
You adored the silence. And being with Ellie didn't change that. What it did change, however, was how much you seem to like the girl's rants and bad jokes. It helped your chest to stop hurting for a bit.
You passed through a familiar face painted in a wall. You stopped in front of it. It felt weird, how much time it had passed since you saw her, and yet you could feel and see her everywhere. Every mural portrayed her perfectly. Ellie stopped too, just behind you. She was afraid to speak. But she could still see how your fear came back to the surface. Her hand reached for your shoulder, but you moved away from her touch. "We should move on" You continued your way. And Ellie still followed. She didn't comment on how the canvas looked exactly like you.
Your head still ranted. And with your head ranting, your senses became blurry, provoking you to not notice a runner close. Ellie screamed your name. You were fast to react, though, grabbing your machete, and driving into its head. You gasped for air, returning to reality. "That was close"
"No shit" Ellie even seem angry for your slip. Maybe she did see you as a burden instead of a companion. If that's what you even were. Both of you were quiet after that.
You and Ellie tried the shortcut you knew to go where Abby was supposed to be, finding a few infected along the way. Ellie showed you her ability with the shotgun, and she discovered how good you were hiding and killing quietly. Turns out you two were a pretty good team, after all.
Between one of those fights, Ellie ran out of ammo, leaving her unarmed and harmless. You were killing a runner when you saw her. Her hand covering her mouth to not make a sound. A clicker was within centimeters from her face. You tried to think fast, and pushed away the fear that rested inside your chest. Throwing a brick on the clicker's head maybe wasn't the brightest idea you had that day. But at least it left her alone. Now that fuck face was coming towards you. You didn't have your bow, and your machete was too far. You only had a gun that Ellie gave you.
You hated guns, everyone you knew loathed them. You also weren't familiar with their use, being raised only using melee weapons. But you needed to protect yourself. To protect her. So you pulled the trigger and fired three shots into his head, and the clicker fell dead on the ground. You ran towards Ellie, who was nastily injured. "Ain't no way that's your first time with a gun" She breathed out. "You are too good"
Scoffing, you took off your shirt, and pressed it on her wound. You didn't notice it, but Ellie's cheeks burned. She preferred to think that it was because of the pain from the injury, and not for the sight in front of her. The white undershirt turned red in a matter of seconds.
"We will have to stay here until that wound is healed"
"But-" "No" Ellie closed her eyes, already tired of your stubbornness. "I am perfectly capab-" "Nuh-uh" "Hey, it's not even that bad"
"Ellie" You warned. "I'll clear the zone so we can stay here for the rest of the day" You got up, and grabbed your bow. The redhead called softly your name, almost like a plea. You waited. "Could you stay here with me?”
You hesitated. You should look for more possible threaths. For more food, more supplies, more-
"Please?”
So you stayed.

will you ever come back, or is this an indefinite hiatus/straight up dipping?
i don't know
all the i miss yous are making me want to come back but ik i would just be terrified and motionless as soon as i do
Vent-ish Rant downstairs
CW: Pedophilia, Antisemitism, Suicide, Ableism, Harassment, Bullying, all the important words except for murder basically
i want to fix things in private with the people who hurt me so things can be okay and I don't out them for being wieners
but i also want everyone to know who hurt me, yet I'm aware it's not the right choice to make. social media outrage barely leads to anything, specially where minors are concerned
hell, now that i think about it, considering the fact that they genuinely don't believe people older than them are allowed to have feelings, I don't even think talking would be the right move
it's scary, its fucking scary
fuck. the whole thing started with a person mocking the way i spoke about crowley telling me to stop babying him because i was a legal adult and shouldn't be speaking like that
i had just turned 18 and the person was only a year younger than me
like when it's gone to that point and shit is that fucked up, what can one person even do
i remember i laughed about it back then but truth be told, every single little thing I've been told and that I've listened to coming from the people who hurt me has fucking destroyed me as a person
I looked at my older Discord messages, from before this whole mess started. I was so fucking happy and shameless with my joy, now look at my sorry ass
i just.
it's crazy that i have to go around masking in social media of all places because there are people that take such offense to me being cringe that they legitimately turn into high school mean girls
it's crazy that there are people who claim I'm something i am not because they want to make me look bad in the eyes of their little circlejerking friend groups so they can feel like the hero of the story
it's crazy that empathy goes completely out of the window when an account is big, that people don't see human beings as human beings when they're behind a screen
"just log off lol" i am a lonely shut in motherfucker due to my autism (that, surprise surprise, hinders my ability to socialize), you do not understand what you're asking of me, specially while being in this country and at this point in time where I'm actively craving to kick the metaphorical bucket, at daily risk of doing so, and what basically is house arrest for my own safety and well being
(aka, avoiding to physically yeet myself into upcoming traffic or buying something to actually seal the deal)
thus far I've been accused of antisemitism, pedophilia, being too self-centered (which. bro, the reason why i talk about myself is because it's the one thing i can comment on without being scared of some random person coming to tell me "NuH uH" about it out of nowhere or worse, having their feelings hurt because I don't agree with them 100%), proshipper (which, to those people, the word implies wonderful labels such as "incest apologist" "pedophile" (again) "abuse endorser" among other things) ((sidenote, I'm on neither side on that particular discourse. my friends from both sides know this. I would elaborate on my stance if this wasn't already long enough, but it is, so I'm leaving it at an "I don't care, you do you, but please leave me out of it")), being... mean... because i blocked someone...? (this one is just. that's how the second wave of hate started btw. yeah, because i blocked someone. holy fuck), and there's probably a handful of other things I haven't seen yet. fuck it, there's probably someone out there calling me a zoophile because of my catboy au
My friends who I will not name because I don't want the high school mean girls crusade to get to them, have helped me stash out evidence for all of the accusations and bullying.
fuck, they were the ones who let me know about it on the first place, both actions for which i am eternally thankful for because it means I can defend myself properly should the occasion arise (dios no quiera)
I've already had to make a post on Xitter responding to the antisemitism and pedophilia claims, in which, for the latter, i had to reveal extremely personal information for the people who started this to give me respite if only for a while
and. ugh
What I'm trying to get at with all of this is. it's. coming back is scary. i want to but at the same time I don't think I can take this shit anymore
I wish I had people defending me like this when the harassment started because I'm a spineless little bitch who'd rather talk things out and at least be neutral with people than clap back and tell them to stop being stinky
but what's done is done and now i just gotta figure out how to fix my head before i do something stupid
this is not the full story obviously, I'm cutting off certain details as well as more personal depression stuff to not make this bible longer than it already is
fuck
TLDR: I need a hug, idk if I'm coming back, I probably will cuz I can't say no to people, and some teenagers are horrible

"What is it like living with BPD?"
Keep in mind that a lot of these experiences overlap with other disorders. This is my experience.
Little things like buying the wrong brand of toothpaste or having to do something you don't want to do, no matter how easy that task might realistically be, causes suicidal ideations/full blown meltdowns.
Crying/getting upset/angry all the time over things that are insignificant to everyone else.
Not always being able to tell what emotion you're feeling because it's like, six emotions morphed into one (and it's different to feeling six emotions all at once, at least for me)
Every emotion I feel is tripled in intensity compared to the people around me. Anger is violent/murderous urges, sadness is wanting to kill yourself, anxiety is feeling like you're going to die.
Losing my Favourite Person is like losing a piece of yourself because your personality literally revolves around them. The first few weeks/months/even years sometimes, spent without them is often spent trying to reinvent yourself.
It is either never leaving the house for weeks on end or overworking yourself going to social events and gatherings until you inevitably burnout.
Embarrassing yourself/having people laugh at you makes you want to die.
It is emotionally seeing everything in black and white. Someone is either all good or all bad, your day was either shit or it was absolutely fantastic, you can either only see the positives or the negatives in people/situations/things. There is no grey area, and despite what many people think, telling you over and over again that you shouldn't be looking it that way does not help!
It's feeling like the entire world is against you. Nobody is safe, nobody cares, nobody is going to help you. It's a suffocating feeling.
It's constantly feeling like everybody is recovering/moving on with their life/etc. and you're stuck at the beginning or always a few steps behind.
It's experiencing constant intrusive thoughts about manipulating/gaslighting/abusing people so they'll stay with you.

"Stolas shouldn't have portalled out Blitz during Full Moon" this and "Stolas should have stuck around and listened to Blitz in the garden during Apology Tour" that. Do y'all not realize how it sounds to demand that a domestic abuse victim stick around when someone is yelling at and insulting them? And on the flip side of that, do the other half of y'all not realize how it sounds to demand that someone, particularly someone from an oppressed group, never get loud or demonstrably angry just because it might scare someone?
Like Blitz had every right to air his grievances in Full Moon, and being angry when you're treated poorly is a perfectly normal, reasonable response. It's not inherently abusive to yell and stomp when you get mad, and it's completely unreasonable to say that Blitz is just because he did. But at the same time, Stolas does not have to sit there and take being yelled at when he's already had to suffer though someone doing it to him maliciously for at least 17 years. He does not have to take being grabbed, being screamed at, or having his clearly stated boundaries ignored either, like at the beginning of Apology Tour. Him getting upset when someone does that to him, when he's only just gotten away from his abuser and was almost murdered for it, is not some failing on his part or him playing the victim.
Blitz's trauma doesn't care that Stolas wasn't actually going to abandon Blitz, and it doesn't care that that the hurtful things Stolas has said and done have come largely from a place of ignorance rather than a lack of care. He's protecting himself the only way he knows how and is blinded by the sheer intensity and longevity of his self-loathing, but frankly it was a good thing for him to finally speak up about how some of the things Stolas does makes him feel, and it's a very good thing that he's actually trying to fight to keep Stolas rather than just booking it and throwing a grenade behind him on the way out.
Just like Stolas' trauma doesn't care if he knows Blitz is different than Stella and wouldn't actually hurt him, and it doesn't care that Blitz's anger comes from a hurt, scared, and traumatized place as opposed to the pleasure Stella took in hurting and scaring him. Stolas hasn't had any time to even begin to heal from the damage she did to him, and frankly if he's scared and breaking down like in Full Moon it's actually a step up if he's removing himself from whoever is triggering him, even if it wasn't fair to Blitz who was, in his own way, attempting to work things out.
Neither of them is the bad guy here, they're just very reasonably upset and having clashing trauma responses. You can be compassionate and understanding of both sides without saying that either of them should have to just sit there and take it when someone is greatly upsetting them. It's normal to get angry when you're scared and upset, and it's normal to cry and run away when you're scared and upset, and neither are wrong or bad just because in the moment when emotions were running high they each did several things that accidently set the other off, especially when they had no way of knowing it was a trigger beforehand.
None of this is say that the way things shook out was great or productive, and they definitely need to work on healing so that they're not letting their fear and trauma control them. If they're going to get to place of real understanding, then at some point these two need to sit down with the intent to talk things out and have an honest and open conversation with each other, without Blitz yelling or Stolas running or either of them letting their preconceived assumptions and biases get in the way of actually listening. Blitz needs to not self-sabotage and Stolas needs to not shut down, and that's going to be really fucking hard for both of them, because that's how they've been coping with their trauma for literal decades.
And to his major credit, Blitz got it right at the end of Apology Tour, the only thing he got wrong was the timing because Stolas was so drunk that I'll be honestly surprised if he remembers most of it in the morning. He wasn't in any state of mind to listen or pay attention, but at the same time, to his credit he's already been reflecting on what Blitz has been saying to him and trying to figure out where and how he fucked up and hurt Blitz. And also, he kept saying things like "right now", which means he will be ready to talk things out eventually if he's just given a little bit of space to put himself back together and think about things.
And guys, please. Just because some people will start crying to try to manipulate and guilt trip those around them whenever someone gets upset at something they did, doesn't make that what Stolas did. He was trying to get away so Blitz wouldn't see him cry. And just because some people like to fly off the handle and rage at every perceived infraction, doesn't make that what Blitz did. He had justifiable cause to be angry and in Full Moon he didn't think Stolas was listening, so he tried to make himself louder and bigger in an attempt to make himself be heard and his hurt be acknowledged. If one of their reactions made you uncomfortable, that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that. But the story isn't about those kinds of people, it's about two fictional demons who aren't trying to hurt or manipulate each other, they're just struggling to juggle trauma, ignorance, and the desire to be together. They're not able to yet, but that's what character arcs are for.
And just to head off any comments on it: no, the narrative is not villifying Blitz and it's not babying Stolas or trying to sweep any of the shit he's done under the rug. Blitz being angry and self-destructive doesn't make him a villain, and Stolas crying a few times and still being pretty ignorant of how he's come across doesn't mean they're trying to say he's done nothing wrong.

Michael Afton Headcanons (General + Romantic)
Warning: Childhood abuse
Mrs Afton will be called Clara and Crying Child will be called Evan.
General
Life in the Afton family was never perfect. William often neglected his family in favor of working on his animatronics and Clara was always fighting with him because of it. This was the norm for Michael and his siblings, unfortunately, so they were used to it. (Not like watching their parents fight and being neglected didn't hurt any less, but...)
Michael was never as obedient as his younger siblings, even when he was a little kid. It was easy to tell that neither of his parents appreciated that very much and favored the others over him. At least Clara made attempts to hide it. With William, it was ridiculously obvious that he didn't feel unconditional love towards his kids, and that he only cared for them when they followed all his directions. So Michael got the worst treatment in terms of neglect.
Eventually, the fighting got to be too much for Clara. She divorced William and left the kids with him, moving far away so she wouldn't be associated as an Afton anymore. This decision had a horrible effect on each of the Afton kids- Elizabeth became unhealthily attached to her father, Evan lost his only source of comfort (that wasn't a stuffed animal) and it made Michael's approaching teenage angst worse. Meanwhile William's only thought was "Hmm maybe I can design my new balleria animatronic after my ex-wife now... That way I can have another excuse not to take care of my kids 😻"
Being left unsupervised was the worst thing that could've happened to Michael. It gave him a sort of power he shouldn't have had, being that he was frustrated at his entire family and too immature to know how to deal with anger correctly. He vented his anger by becoming a destructive bully.
At first he just bullied Evan because he was an easy target. Not Elizabeth though, she... Mysteriously disappeared before he could do anything too bad to her. But her disappearence only left Michael more pissed off at the world. He started bullying kids at school with his group of friends. They quickly became the tormentors of the neighborhood.
Teenage Michael was a total shitbag, really. He hurt others because it made him feel powerful in a situation he was powerless in. Fun Fact: William hurts others to feel powerful too. Like father, like son.
However, Michael's tormenting wasn't 100% just for a power trip. It was partly to get attention from his father too. He got into all kinds of trouble looking for attention. He got into fights at school, purposely flunked all his classes, made his abuse against Evan abundantly clear, etc. Nothing worked. So then he decided to involve one of his father's own creations in his next scheme... And that one definitely worked. But not in the way he wanted it to.
So Evan was dead. William wasn't pleased, to say the least. It wasn't the fact that his son was dead that got him, it was the fact that Fredbear's had to be shut down. His first passion project was ruined by his own son.
William started giving Michael attention, but not the kind that he needed. He began taking his anger out on him. Screaming, hitting, locking him in his room for hours on end... The list went on. Now Michael knew what it felt like to be in Evan's spot.
But unlike William, Michael felt geniune sorrow from his brother's death. He never wanted him dead, he just went too far. If the guilt of that wasn't enough, nobody was understanding of him either. His "friends" ditched him and the entire town shunned him. Nobody wanted to be around him anymore. Not many people did to begin with, but now everybody acted like he was an apathetic murderer. (Everybody acted like he was his father...)
He was forced to spend the rest of childhood in isolation. When he wasn't isolated, he was with his father, only piling the mental and physical scars on top of each other. He transitioned from bitter and angry to terrified and ridden with guilt.
He learned his lesson about being an asshole, but he's been beat down so many times that he's afraid to get back up. He just took all the negativity that was thrown at him. He believed that he fully deserved it and that he didn't deserve a happy life. (Because he knew his father sure didn't...)
His only source of comfort at this time was watching TV. The TV raised him when his parents didn't, so... Basically always. One of the reasons he kept going was so he could catch the new Immortal and The Restless episodes.
Okay this is really stupid and out of place but I like to think this is what it looked like when Michael first discovered Immortal and The Restless:
youtube
Tumblr media
Once Michael finally became an adult, he was ready to run away from it all. He knew that he didn't deserve to be happy, that he was a monster just as horrible as his father was, but he couldn't take it anymore. He wasn't strong enough.
So he took a page out of his mother's book and moved away. He didn't have enough money to move too far away, sadly, but he got far enough that nobody in town could recognize him. That's exactly what he was searching for. He desired a chance to start anew.
He didn't want to be Michael Afton anymore. Michael Afton was a murderer, a tormenter, a coward. He wanted to be a better person now, but he was convinced Michael Afton could never be better. Leading him to change his identity once he finished moving.
Michael Afton was dead. He was Mike Schmidt now, and Mike Schmidt was an incredible man. He was friends with all his neighbors, he was hard working, he never caused a bit of trouble. And he always smiled. Never a creepy and unnerving smile, but a warm and pleasant one.
This change did help him a bit. He was being treated like a person again instead of a monster, so that was appreciated. But it did a lot of harm too. He was pushing down all of his feelings and ignoring his problems. They were Michael Afton's problems, not Mike Schmidt's, after all. He was masking his true self and hiding it all with a grin. (He's like his father no matter what he does...)
However, this new life didn't last long. Everything stopped when he got a phone call from William. It was a sickeningly polite request, asking him to go down to Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental, only for a simple week long shift.
Naturally, Michael was furious. He didn't want to accept a single request from that asshole, especially not now! He was still reinventing himself! He was ready to decline until William brought up the true reason why he wanted Mike down there- To free his little sister.
Mike was in awe. This was a chance to fix his past mistakes. Not all of them, of course, but he could make up for at least one part of the past. Though he was reluctant to have anything left to do with those bastardly animatronics, he felt like he had to do this. He gathered his courage and accepted, not knowing what was ahead of him.
The universe must have decided that he hadn't paid enough for his mistakes, because he ended up literally dying and then having his corpse used as a disguise for murderous animatronics. Not fun. Even when Ennard finally left, he just felt... Empty. Both physically and mentally. He wasn't even sad about it. He was accepting.
This was a natural punishment for trying to run away from his past, he assumed. Mike always thinks he deserves the bad things that happen to him. But, he also realized... When did his father ever get punished for something?
It just wasn't fair. William got away with everything while Mike was the one who had to pay for it. He did some terrible shit when he was younger, he knows, but wasn't this enough? When was William going to pay for slaughtering children for his selfish experiments and power trip?
In that moment, he knew what he needed to do. He had to kill his father and get revenge. He needed to free the rest of the souls like he did with his sister. That way, he could finally be at peace.
From then on, Mike was the best version of himself. He still made an effort to keep up his new identity, but he wasn't trying to run away anymore. He was scared and he was battling mental health issues everyday, but he was determined now. And nobody could stop him.
Romantic
Let's say you fell in love after he moved and changed his name, so you didn't know about his past. He wouldn't tell you the truth for the longest time. Mike sees you in an extremely high light. You've got so many good qualities about you, and he's... Just some cowardly asshole who lives a lie. But you don't know that. You think he's great too. And fuck, he loves that, he wants it to stay that way so badly. He really does want to be with you.
So he stays as Mike Schmidt. He wouldn't mention a word about Michael Afton, his family, or anything to do with Freddy Fazbear's. Forget Fredbear's. He refuses to be a part of that. Most of the time he just dances around the subject when it's brought up, but he's willing to flat out lie if he has to. He doesn't understand that having a relationship built on lies isn't the best idea.
Besides that stuff about lying to you, I don't think he'd be too bad of a partner. He loves you so much and wants the best for you. He'd work hard so you could have everything you need/want. But since he works so much, it's hard to find time to spend together. Especially whenever he's working the night shift.
When you do find time, you probably won't be going out on dates. He's paranoid and avoids going out when he can. So you'll likely be at home, whether you're resting in bedor watching Immortal and The Restless together.
While he was working at Circus's Baby, he always made it a point to call you after 6AM and let you know he was on his way home. You didn't know that, truthfully, it was just his way of letting you know he was still alive.
He's also a protective boyfriend. Though he doesn't like going out, he would force himself to get past his fear and go out with you when you have to leave. He'll accompany you on trips to the grocery store or other errands. He makes sure to write down your work phone number somewhere safe, so he can call you during your breaks and make sure you're okay.
And in a way, him lying about his past is a way of protecting you, too. You could get hurt if you get involved. So he buries all the pain and wears a smile, no matter how much it hurts. When he has sudden flashbacks to his father's abuse or the death of his brother, his grin only falters for a second. He considers this his way of being strong.
Mike can't hide it forever, though. He'll be forced to confess after he gets scooped, because... Well, imagine trying to hide purple skin from somebody you see every day. You'll have to talk some sense into him though- He needs to be convinced that he can't handle everything on his own and that this isn't some punishment for his sins. So weirdly enough, him getting scooped wasn't entirely bad? Because it made your relationship stronger and he's better off, now that he has a goal and somebody to support him along the way.
But that didn't mean everything was sunshine and rainbows now. For one thing, his appearance is pretty fucked up, and not in the hot way. It's just another thing to add to the list of insecurites. He worries that you'll leave him for somebody better. He avoids physical affection as well, because he's sure you wouldn't want to touch him.
You can help by giving him lots of reassurance, though. He likes being called handsome even if he doesn't believe it, and it feels good knowing you're always there for him.
This might be an unpopular headcanon, but I honestly think Michael would want to get married. Probably not when he was younger and the wounds from his trauma were fresh, but once he's older and more healed. Just because his parents' marriage didn't turn out well doesn't mean that yours won't. There probably won't be an official ceremony, there might not even be any official documents saying you got married, but he would buy a pair of rings so you could say you were anyway. It's still marriage to him.
No kids though. He's still intensely afraid of having one of his own to take care of. The next best thing is Helpy 💀 But speaking of Helpy, the only Fazbear restaurant he'll let you go to is the one from Pizzeria Simulator. It's the only place he has any control over things, so he wouldn't be on the verge of having a panic attack everytime you got near an animatronic... But maybe you still don't need to be around those high risk ones...
Oh, and don't worry, he won't stick around in the fire like he did at the end of the game. I believe the only reason he did that was because he didn't have anything else. This family drama was his whole life, his whole purpose. So he thought it was only right to pass on with everybody else then.
But with you here now, he can't just leave you like that. Not as a single parent caring for Helpy! So you three can finally live that happily ever after without having to worry about any murderous animatronics or people in bunny suits again.
Haha, yeah... Definitely...

Alright, I've got to get the gripes out. Doesn't mean you have to read it. If you love the game you probably shouldn't. This is for people who are really disappointed or angry about...things and would like to feel like they're not alone.
This is not about the absolute value of Veilguard. I enjoyed the game and I am, if anything, enjoying it more on the second playthrough. Like all the other installations, inevitably it is its own thing. Some franchises are just logical continuations of their previous installments, but Dragon Age has never been like that and I sure wouldn't expect it after this long since the last installment.
[Edited to add that I reblog locked it but 100% encourage sharing your feelings in the replies or even my dms. It's fine to talk about it! I want to talk about it!]
That said, my biggest gripes about Veilguard:
The sanitizing of the Crows
Come on now. I even defended you, Bioware! Before the game, I said, nahhhh they won't make the Crows Good Guys just because of Lucanis! Lucanis was tortured too! Well, they didn't do that, I guess. They did it as part of a much larger pattern of ironing out the moral grey areas the franchise was formerly known for.
The Crows are Patriots! Well, they are. And also, though you wouldn't know it, slavers and torturers and murderers of children. You'd be forgiven for not realizing that, considering the creation of the feel good House for orphans who really wanna be contract killers. But it is pretty foundational lore and all. There is the like, one previous Crow character, whom they wrote as going on a righteous mission to kill Crows, because of the whole them being bad thing.
What was being raised by the head of the Crows like, Lucanis? Torture? Hahaha funny oh you mean literally. Literally your grandmother tortured and starved you and never gave you the slightest choice in your life and you've accepted that because you accept the logic that it was necessary. But again. That's based on my knowledge of material outside this game.
Any previous game would have reveled in that! Do you ally yourself with these people, this objectively bad organization full of people who don't see themselves as bad at all? Because they are very good at killing, and that's what you need! But this game just makes them good guys. No moral dilemma needed. Nope, we like black and white now.
And speaking of which,
The dehumanization of the Antaam
Ew. Ew ew ew.
Gimme a minute and I'll come up with something better to say but seriously? Ew.
They neither look nor sound like any of the other qunari characters. They sound like animals, literally. Exactly once does one make the slightest attempt to do anything but attack you--and then he attacks you anyway. Not a single one deserts. I guess the lesson here is that apparently qunari really do become mindless beasts without the structure and discipline of the Qun??? Ew. No thank you.
I know, you gotta have faceless mooks. In Inquisition we fought rebel mages for absolutely no good reason but that they attacked us. In da2 thugs literally fell from the sky. But the absolutely comprehensive way in which the Antaam never spoke for themselves, as actual people... Wow.
Imagine. Imagine if we could have actually negotiated an agreement with a group of them, for that final battle. Would that have been so impossible? To fight mages?! Imagine if we'd had a former Antaam companion. Imagine if he'd been mulling over what the Arishok, Sten, the OG proof that qunari are NOT animals outside the Qun, said before the Antaam rebelled.
Mythal: basically a nice mother goddess!
What. What. What.
In this, the culmination of her sins, the finale of Solas' millennia of taking the blame for shit she set in motion, Mythal is... Flat as hell. Millennia of her scheming. Surviving. Using and abusing her children, arguably using and abusing Solas, seducing and manipulating and whatever it takes to nudge things her way. And now she's just... Kinda imperious I guess? And Morrigan just has her memories and nothing is bad about that ever. Huh.
The thing is, I was never against Mythal, in all her complex nastiness. We didn't know what her game was! I just wanted to know! What made it all worth it? What was the plan?
Well I guess the plan was--nothing? Don't worry about it. I guess.
Side note, the design work on the Mythal fragment was some Computer Animation Is My Passion, early 2000's Barbie straight to VHS looking shit. Profoundly disappointing. Did you even try.
Tell, don't show
Is the strange new voice in the blight coming from over there really horrifying? Or did you just say it was roughly fifteen times, but then actually it was just a big blob of Blight that you had to shoot extra times? Is the Butcher cruel? Or did Teia and Viago just tell us he was cruel with absolutely no detail whatsoever? Is Minrathous really blighted if you choose to save Treviso? Or are there just more beggars and some rubble and literally one blighted character? And so on, and so forth.
Remember that popular post not long ago, about how one of the great joys of Dragon Age was the sifting through unreliable narrators? Piecing together Avvar epic poetry and fragments of ancient elvhen runes and Andrastian canticles to try to guess what actually happened. The unique and unusual (in fiction) joy of the historiography of it all? We got to actively engage with the discovery. We got to piece together that Solas was the Dread Wolf, bit by difficult to find bit.
The fridge horror of it all could be really incredible. Making us work it out for ourselves meant that we experienced it much more intimately. It was an incredible storytelling tool.
Yeah I guess we just watch movies about it now. Just plug in the DVD Wolf statuette and now we know. And the codexes are reduced to flavor text and puzzle clues.
And last but definitely most,
Flat writing
Look man I know that's subjective as shit but it was. A lot of it was. You either agree or you don't, but for me, it was never more obvious than in the moments of contrast, when it was up to standard. The conversation with the Butcher. Every minute with Solas. Spite.
Contrast the Butcher (intense! Passionate! Creepy fucken pale face Harkonnen vibes! Deranged but genuine love for Treviso!) with the Dragon King (I don't even know what to put here. You don't even have to fight him! He just...blusters, and then there's a dragon, and then Taash shoves him and he falls over.)
It's just...I could probably forgive a lot of the stuff that went before if it was just more compellingly written.
Even here I absolutely will not be getting into character complaints. Those are too personal, and frankly I think people should keep them to private conversations. They have too much potential to hurt people for too little gain.
Sigh. I'm done now. I will try to focus on the good and the creative because I think that contributes a great deal more to everything and everyone. But for now, let me contemplate what could have been.

I think Luz's trauma due to being an abuse victim gets ignored a lot in favor of other characters. Luz has an odd role in the fandom as this character who other characters rely on, or who isn't an abuse victim but is supportive of her friends who are, and I think that ends up missing a huge part of her story.
Belos compliments her a lot, which is partially because he wants to reach out to her and mostly because he thinks he can manipulate her. He does some backhanded compliments, telling her she's improved but she still has work to do to catch up to him. He also thanks her quite a few times. The way he thanks her intentionally triggers her guilt, especially when he thanks her for helping him with Hunter. He also compliments her to put other people down, like when he tells her she's "better than this" (implying their race makes them morally superior).
He also uses the same manipulation tactic on Luz that he does on Hunter, although it doesn't work as well on her. He tries to remove his own agency for his physical violence by blaming the Curse. The biggest example is in King's Tide, when he pretends he can't hear her as he's racing after her to try and kill her. He ends up cutting her face while pretending to be out of control and then in the same sequence has full control and clarity to talk to Hunter and the Collector. He gaslights Luz by trying to make it seem like it was The Curse causing him to act in the way he did.
He refers to Luz as "crazy" to invalidate her emotions and harming Hunter in front of her also is a form of abuse. He's obviously aware that hurting Hunter traumatizes Luz (and everyone else) but as his focus transfers from Hunter to Luz in Hollow Mind, he starts targeting her specifically by harming Hunter to hurt her (especially in TTT). Belos shifts the blame for events from himself to Luz and also attempts to make her feel guilty. Hunter seems to understand that Luz is also being abused and tries to reassure her that Belos is an abuser and she shouldn't take what he says at face value. Luz ends up taking that advice to heart after she's able to forgive herself and face Belos. She doesn't speak to him but is able to hear his manipulation tactics and just. stare at him bc he's full of bullshit.
Just because he 'only' hits her a few times and isn't her guardian doesn't mean he can't abuse her or that he didn't. It's not really a protagonist-antagonist relationship as much as it is "adult man nuking 14 year old repeatedly until she becomes god and kills him". The idea that child abuse can only come from parents and not role models or other adults in your life is odd, because he distinctly holds a position of power over her (literally an Emperor and an adult who intentionally isolates her and the other kids alone to abuse them) and uses it to emotionally and physically harm her.
Papa Titan has to reassure her that she's okay to kill Belos because he's literally a serial killer who's lying about his intentions. Luz still slightly falls for Belos's sympathetic line until that moment because he very intentionally tried to get her to feel bad for him and also feel guilt about herself.
This is also why I really detest any fandom takes where Belos canonically is supposed to care about her, or Luz owes him anything. Manipulation is not sympathetic. Belos committed premeditated murder and then used the remains of his murder victim to try to make a "Better Version" of his murder victim which was actually just a way to punish him repeatedly and keep taking out revenge on kids who had nothing to do with the original conflict. Belos is Luz's abuser also, and Luz doesn't owe him any sort of kindness or consideration and her anger is valid.
Luz is an abuse victim of Belos's in addition to Hunter and the Collector (and Vee/Lilith by extension), and she should be considered as such rather than her trauma being invalidated in favor of other characters.

Save one or billions?
Minho's number one rule may be to not leave an eyewitness but your number one rule is to not kill innocent people. Clearly, the man is merely there in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and certainly not expecting to meet a sculptor who turns a murderer at night.
You turn around to run away through the front door but Minho stops you.
"No, no, no," he strongly against your plan to flee.
He fiercely looks at you and says, "No witnesses. You have to kill him!"
You shake your head and refuse to do what he told you. All you want to do is run but Minho holds his ground, not allowing you to leave.
"He's seen you. You have to kill him!" He persists and steers your body to come at the man whose face turns pale once he realizes the horror he's about to face.
The man starts throwing you with anything in his reach, a bag of bread, a pack of sliced cheese, a half-empty bottle of soda, a spoon.
"Go away! Get out of my house!" He says while keeps throwing things at you, sending a bag of chips flying around the kitchen.
"Do it! It's him or you!" Minho urges you.
With one hand steadily covering your face from objects being thrown at you, you rummage inside your bag to take out your hammer to use it once more for the night.
Getting a good grip on it, you aim it at him while he keeps maintaining a safe space from you by swaying a chopping board in front of you.
"Get out, please!" He demands.
He then kicks you quite hard on the leg and with the strength a grown man has, it's enough to send you fall onto the ground. You see the hammer is still in your hand but the bad thing is the man is trying to escape through the kitchen door.
You drag yourself and hurriedly stop him from getting to the door by catching him by the legs, sending him crash down onto the floor.
The fight continues on the floor, the two of you struggling to survive. You try to hit him with the hammer while he gently grips your hand by the wrist to not let you hurt him.
You notice that his other hand is groping the floor, reaching for the bread knife lying inches away from his fingertips.
He only needs to get it and there's a big chance that he can easily stab you with it. You decide to drop the hammer and race him to get the bread knife before him.
You can feel the wooden handle of the knife on your fingers and close to gripping it, he flips you over on the floor to get the knife.
Before he can take it from you, you use all of the strength you have left to flip over, sending him farther from the knife and you can get a hold of it.
Relentlessly, he turns over not knowing that you're holding the knife, and stabs himself right onto it. You can feel the knife piercing through the flesh and right into his chest.
With the knife going all the way in, he still manages to crawl to sit and leans his back against the wall. He's groaning as he looks down at the knife impaled his chest.
You can only watch as he holds the knife and tries to take it out of him, despite you knowing that he shouldn't do it, you do nothing to stop him.
"I'm so sorry," you sob as he finally grabs the handle and slowly pulls the knife out.
Blood is gushing from the wound, soaking his sky blue shirt with crimson red color. Painful groans are escaping his parted mouth followed by a blob of thick, sticky blood.
"I'm so–" your choked sob gets in the way.
"Sorry," you finish with a shaky voice.
You get up from the floor and take two steps back, looking at him helplessly trying to stay alive. The man looks at you and you can see in his eyes that life is slowly leaving him.
The silence that takes over is deafening and the hands on your shoulders are putting some senses back into you.
"Come on. Let's go!" Minho whispers, reminding you that it's time to leave, not wanting to risk another person finding you like this.
Taking one last look at the lifeless body sitting against the wall, you gather your senses and eye the bloodied knife, collecting it along with your hammer as you make your way out of the door like you haven't just killed two men.
-
No matter how long you stand under the shower, the blood is still on your hands.
You sit on the end of the bed in your bathrobe, drops of water dripping from the end of your hair as your head looks down and your hands gripping the edge of the bed frame.
You're in complete shock at what you just did. Killing Tim was the plan, there was no remorse in killing him because you know he deserved it.
But the man, you don't even know his name to begin with, he got killed just because he saw you. You did that.
You look up and Minho is standing right in front of you, "Who was he?"
He sighs before answering your question, "That would be Tim's brother, Kurt."
"What was he like?" You ask, almost inaudible.
He gets quiet and you glare at him to demand an answer, "You know stuff," you say.
You intensely look into the two orbs in his eyes and ask, "Was he a good or bad person?"
He clasped both hands in front of him, "He was... ordinary."
You feel bile rising inside you, feeling sick of yourself for killing an innocent man. You grip the bed frame tighter until your knuckles turn pale.
"I know it's not what you want to hear but..." Minho says, talking in a soft tone and takes a seat next to you on the bed.
"What's done is done and on the plus side, you scored two tonight," he shares, always has a way of looking at the brighter side of evil things you did.
"I think you've done it, look!" He shows you the talisman.
Those two lines should have disappeared since you killed two men tonight which should release you from the binding contract. You feel a little hopeful that maybe you have done it, you have stopped the world from ending.
Minho is just as confused too. He taps the glass as if that would fix it. His face turns sour, realizing that something is wrong.
He holds a finger, at you. "Wait for one– No, two seconds!"
Minho walks over to the landline phone that you only use to call the concierge or to ask for any services available in the building.
He enters 666 on the dialing numbers and presses the phone close to his ear, "It's me, Minho, yep," he speaks to the phone.
"Yeah, uh... I got a talisman circa 1925 but it failed to register one of the sacrifices," He informs while looking closely at the pocket watch.
"Two kills but only one's been recorded," he turns to look at you and flashes you an uneasy smile.
His face tells that he's receiving bad news, "I mean, yeah, but..."
He puts a hand against the wall, needing to hold on to something, "We can't just, ugh... no, I get it, I get it," he says, defeated.
He slams the phone shut and tilts his head up as he lets out a deep sigh. After a while, he turns around to face you and delivers the news, "Tim didn't count."
You feel all hope has exited your body and feel betrayed, "What? Why?"
"He's a murderer. Makes him ineligible. That's what they're saying," he explains with a strained facial expression.
Isn't that the point? You killed him because he was a murderer, he deserved it.
"But we've been picking people who deserve it," you state the only truth you know.
Minho nervously smiles, "Well, you're not supposed to do it that way. It's just..."
He leans against the wall and continues talking, "I thought you'd find it easier that way."
You drop your head and pinch the bridge of your nose, trying to asses everything. You need to process the fact that you need to kill another man.
"I'm sorry," Minho sincerely apologizes.
He then sits next to you, turning his body to face you as he explains, "Look, basically anyone who's already been directly responsible for the death of another human being, they're off limits."
He gets concerned by how you're so quiet and afraid that you would change your mind by the slight changes in the rules of the game.
"As far as my boss is concerned, they're playing for the home team," he reassures you.
Suddenly, you don't see the point of doing it anymore. Kill an innocent has certainly way out of your boundary and you can't find it in you to do another one.
"We're actually lucky, you know. His brother turned up thus made your effort didn't go to waste," he calmly concludes.
Lucky? You wouldn't call killing an innocent man lucky. Tonight, his words don't quite comfort you like they usually do. You feel played and maybe it is his trick just to make you do his evil deeds.
It's like you finally came to your senses, you don't see how it benefits you because it's going to be a win for him either way.
You shot up from the bed and sharply pointed your index finger at him.
"Fuck you!" You curse him.
"Go fuck yourself!" You curse louder.
Minho just sits there and takes it all in like you didn't just spew your thick, hot rage on his face and it pisses you off more.
"This is all right for you, huh?"
He lightly shakes his head, "No, it isn't."
He has it easy because he doesn't need to do the heavy workload, he just needs to be there and keep tabs on you.
"No blood on your hands. You're just watching," you lay out the facts with rage bubbling inside of you.
Minho seems to decide to let you finish talking, knowing that you need to get it all out.
"This is entertainment for you!"
You're the only one doomed in this contract, not to mention, that you accidentally put your blood on the talisman and he forced you to permit entry. It's one sick game that he likes to play.
"If the Apocalypse does come, you'll have one big, fun finale!"
"That would be upending the whole place—"
"Yeah, you failed your initiation and got told off," you easily resolve because you don't see why it's so frowned upon. Shouldn't they be happy that the evil won?
"If I fail my initiation..."
You cut through his sentence again, "Get kicked out of the demon school? How sad!" You mock him with a sinister laugh.
"More like cast out," Minho corrects.
You shrug his words away, "Whatever."
The silence takes over for a moment until Minho speaks and fills the air with his light, whispery voice.
"Cast out into a boundless cosmic void and doomed to spend eternity in a vacuum of infinite nothingness."
You look at him as he stares at the thing he describes in his words flashes right in front of him.
"Absence of matter, time, space, light, and sound. I would endure a profound, palpable, and ever-present lack of existence..."
Hearing that makes you feel cold inside and the way he speaks as if he's been feeling that emptiness already makes you empathize with him.
"Alone in perpetuity, forever more," he finishes with a blank stare at you.
It's something that you can easily relate to. Your whole life you've been alone, living in your head because no one cares for you except for the art you made. You can see why Minho spoke with so much sorrow in his voice.
All these times, his fear has been hiding behind his indifference.
You swallow air, then say, "That sounds like my life..."
He watches as you approach him and sit next to him. He closes his eyes as if what he's about to say next is too painful.
"To be honest, I'm scared," he honestly says.
You take his hand and let him rest his head on your chest, you caressingly cradle his head, protecting him any way you can.
Minho turns his head and looks at you, letting you see everything in his eyes. In that moment, you can see that he's afraid, lost, and lonely, feelings that are way too familiar to you and you find comfort in knowing that you find yourself in him.
You slowly lean in and kiss him, letting him know that he's not the only one living such a life.
Something flickers inside you the second your lips meet his in a kiss that feels like a long time coming, it's ever-consuming, taking over.
Minho returns the kiss passionately, allowing you to let go of the worries that chained you and hold you down.
For tonight, you let yourself free.
-
FOUR DAYS TO THE END OF THE WORLD
The sliver of sunlight shines through the cracks of the blinds and hits you right in the eyes, waking you from your deep slumber.
You're lying on your side and feel another body next to you, taking a moment before turning your head in the other direction and seeing Minho there.
Sharing the bed with him feels natural. It's as if you've been sleeping with him for years that he belongs there, lying right next to you.
He reaches for the strand of hair falling over your face and endearingly tucks it behind your ear, then places his hand there, holding the side of your face.
"Morning," he softly says.
For a split second, it feels possible to connect to another human being without feeling afraid that you'll be misjudged. He knows you, he knows the darkest thing you ever done that you don't feel the need to hide yourself anymore.
Then the truth hits.
This is not what normal people have. Normal people don't kill, they're following the rules and stay on the safe side.
You inhale air and close your eyes for a second, "So, one more victim then?"
He drags his hand down to your neck. His thumb tenderly rubs your jaw, "Yeah, the only thing for it," he answers.
There's only one thing crossed your head at that moment, "I can't kill another total innocent," you remark.
Minho takes a breath and slides his hand down to your shoulder, "It's just murderers we have to avoid," he reminds you.
"You mean people like me," you sadly say.
You roll over and lay on your back, staring at the ceiling as the truth once again sinks in: You're a murderer.
"My whole life... I never wished harm on anyone," you sigh with so much remorse and guilt.
When you think Minho would do the look-at-the-brighter-side-of-evil-things, he scoffs at your words. You look at him and he is chuckling at you.
You sit on the bed and turn at him, "I-I didn’t," you persist.
Minho also gets up and puts his hands around his knees, smirking.
"Uh..." he scratches the back of his head.
"You couldn't have summoned me for my trial if you hadn't," he says with the smirk still plastered on his face.
You look away and think it over. Were you thinking of hurting someone that night?
"Well, you had to be corruptible not beyond corruption," he further explains.
He then reaches for your hand and holds it, "You know what? You must have had some dark force inside you when you touched the talisman," he says.
That gets you shooting a death glare at him, feeling offended that he takes you as that kind of person.
"There's no shame in it," he assures you with a squeeze on your hand.
That night, you were indeed feeling so much anger and you remember channeling all of that anger on your work. You know exactly what and who happened.
"No, go on," Minho encourages.
He then leans in, not stopping until his head meets yours. With gleaming eyes and whispery voice, he asks, "Who pissed you off?"
-
"There she is!" Kim exclaims.
"Don't you just stand there!" She gets up from her chair and welcomes you with a hug.
It was supposed to be a celebration dinner that she promised, but you see that she invited the director of the gallery with her.
She hugs you and keeps her hand on your shoulder as she pulls away, "You look..." she pauses as she takes a look up and down at you.
Since she said it would be just her and you, you casually dressed in jeans and a blouse.
Kim leans in and quietly asks, "Did you wash your hair?"
She then peers over at Jeff, the gallery director then looks back at you, "Let's sit!"
The waiter pulls a chair for you and prepares another set of cutlery for you on the table.
"She's nice," Minho appears behind you.
He walks over to Kim's chair and looks down at her, "She's a front runner for the..." he mimics throat slitting with his hand on his neck.
He stands behind her chair and continues talking, "Do you know that she takes a bigger cut on your art sales than the one written on the contract?"
You ignore him by taking the napkin and putting it on your lap, at the same time, Jeff talks to you.
"Kim said you're already working on new sculptures?" He asks.
You nod and take a sip of water before answering. Well, you're busy stopping the apocalypse from coming.
"Yeah, I am," you shortly answer.
"Oh, she loves working. There's no way of stopping her from doing what she loves," Kim says with an extra wide smile and false compliments.
Jeff asks the waiter to refill everyone's glass with more wine even though he can do it himself with the bottle sitting not so far from his grasp.
Minho props a hand against Jeff's chair and points at both Kim and him, "These two just fucked earlier in his office," he shares.
That's not the information you needed to know. You kind of guessed why they're so overly friendly with each other, you just didn't expect that Kim would screw a married man.
You quietly sigh while watching the waiter carefully pour wine into your glass without spilling a drop.
"Thank you," you mutter in gratitude.
"Should we start by making a toast?" Jeff suggests.
Kim enthusiastically agrees to his idea, being the first person to lift her wine glass and you have to follow suit, taking your glass in your hand for the toast.
"To our talented artist," Jeff says as he glances at you, then looks the other way, "And to the hardworking art dealer!"
In which Kim smiles and blushes at his words. The second after everyone clinked the wine glasses together, you take a long gulp of your wine in the hope of washing down the sour taste in your mouth.
Once the food is served on the table, you keep yourself busy by stuffing your mouth with food, not wanting to engage in a conversation with them.
You don't mind that you're now only there as a cover for their affair yet you were wrong to think that's the worst thing that happens tonight.
A waiter comes to your table and pulls the chair next to you for someone else. You turn your head to see who else Kim invited to the dinner.
"I apologize for being late," Nick says, taking off his coat with help from the waiter.
"Oh, please! We're more than pleased to know you're still willing to come and have dinner with us," Kim says with yet another fake, bright smile.
If this is her idea of torturing you, she won big. There's nothing that agonizes you more than sitting with these people at the same table.
"You come just right on time, no worries," Jeff says, also pleased by his presence.
Nick sits on the chair next to yours and looks at you when he says, "Yeah, I came just in time for desserts."
You sip your wine to avoid talking to him but that doesn't stop him from talking to you.
"How are you?"
"Good," you shortly answer.
He nods even though looks dissatisfied by your short answer. He takes a sip of his wine as Jeff starts talking to him.
"Thank you for letting us keep the sculptures until exhibitions end," Jeff says.
He waves him off and puts down his wine glass, "No problem at all."
Kim leans on the table at you, "He's the one who bought all of your sculptures," she informs.
"Really?" You innocently ask.
Kim laughs in response but you sense the scornful in that laugh, "She's still in awe," she puts it politely for everyone to
As an artist, you would love for someone appreciative of your art as the one who bought it, not someone who solely has the power to buy it. You know which one is Nick, worse is, he bought them just to impress you.
"Must be busy campaigning, huh?" Jeff says as he digs into his dessert.
Nick lets out a low chuckle yet not denying it. You've been busy stopping the end of the world from coming and not been keeping up with the news.
"Campaigning for what?" You innocently ask again.
Kim leers at you and places a hand on yours, "Nick is running for congress, honey," she says with a strained smile.
"Ah," you swallow a piece of cake down and your throat feels like closing up.
"Young and smart, oh... anyone would be lucky to be with you, Nick," Kim praises with her eyes oozing with admiration.
She looks at you to seek your agreement, "Amazing, isn't he?"
You don't see what is amazing about that when he uses his family's wealth to back his political campaign but surely, you can't be honest about it.
"Yeah," you half-heartedly answer.
Nick seems to be delighted that you show a tad interest in him a smile rises on his face.
The waiter has taken all the plates away and everyone is draining the wine bottle with more conversation that you're not part of and you don't want to be a part of it anyway.
"Nick's brother and I went to the same private school," Jeff boasts of his connection with Nick's family.
"Oh, really?" Kim asks with her saccharine smile.
"We still play golf together now and then, right Nick?"
"Yes," Nick confirms.
"Fuck me," Minho comments as he sits on the table behind Nick.
Nick thinks that you're looking at him and asks, "I've been meaning to ask you," he says.
You gently put your coffee cup down on the saucer, "yes?"
"Our family has this villa, we're renovating it now and I'm wondering if I can personally request you to make a sculpture or two..."
It's a mystery how you manage to have not puked at this point. These subtle bragging and power moves, they're suffocating you.
"I'm not sure," you vaguely answer.
"She's busy working on her new series," Kim answers for you and you feel thankful that you don't have to reject him.
"But maybe if she manages to finish it sooner, she'll reconsider the offer," she adds, shattering the kind thought you have for her just now.
Jeff pats Nick on the shoulder and says, "I can't wait to hear your big speech at the city hall!"
"Oh, please!" Nick politely smiles and leans back in his seat, "Jeff has been kind enough to lend me his villa as our temporary office."
Jeff laughs while squeezing his shoulder, not sure who they're trying to impress beside Kim.
"Oh, fuck me some more!" Minho groans with a dramatic eye roll.
Even when it's time to leave, Nick and Jeff get into a little argument about who should be paying for dinner tonight and the fight has to happen in front of you and Kim.
You're itching to pull out your credit card just to get it over with but you don't want to make a dent on two grown men's egos.
"Thank you for dinner," Kim says to Nick as the winner of the argument.
You meekly follow suit, "Thank you!"
"It's my pleasure," he says with a smile that showcases his perfect white teeth.
Even Minho has disappeared from the scene, probably fed up with everything.
"Can I give you ladies a ride home?" Nick offers as he fixes the collar of his coat.
"I would love to!" Kim eagerly answers, "But since our homes are on the same way, I'm getting a ride home from Jeff."
She holds her purse by the other hand and pulls you close to her side, "but she'll take the lift home, right babe?"
When Kim says, it has to happen or else it's going to end badly.
-
Despite that he can afford a chauffeur, Nick drives his own car.
You've been meaning to ask if he knows where you live because you don't enjoy spending more time with him but how to do that without initiating a talk with him.
"You live in the Crystal Palace, right?" Nick asks.
Should you be grateful that he knows where you live or spooked? But one thing you know for sure is that Kim tells him about it.
"Yes," you answer.
"Isn't the owner just passed away a few days ago?"
"Yes."
"My grandfather knew him when he was still working as the company's mailman," he says.
That's news to you because what did a mailman do that led him to own one of the most luxurious apartment buildings in the city?
"Oh, I never knew that," you weakly say.
"I know, right? One day he just... turned wealthy," he says, gobsmacked by the simplest of mysteries.
He puts one hand down and places it on the space between you and him, "Guess, we'll never know," he says.
He stops the car right near the entrance of the apartment building and you quickly gather your bag, don't want to waste time to exit his car.
"Thank you for the lift home," you tell him, your hand pushing open the handle of the car door.
Nick grabs your elbow and stops you from stepping out, he catches you off guard to place a kiss on your cheek.
"I had a great night," he says, then lets you go.
You don't wait for another second to get out of his car and wipe his kiss off your cheek until your cheek is raw by the excessive rubbing you do on the elevator ride up to your floor.
"So, have you decided yet?" Minho reappears in your apartment.
You toss your bag and take off your coat, "What?"
"Are you going to kill Kim or do you have your eyes on someone else?"
Going to your bedroom, you open your laptop and type a name on the search engine. The results come in under a second and you scan every article there is about this person.
"Oh?" Minho lowly gasps from behind you.
You lean back on your chair and stare at Nick's photo on the laptop screen, "What's his future?"
Not getting an answer from Minho, you swivel your chair to face him, "Can you show me his future"
He seems to hesitate when he has no problem showing you everyone else's. After a moment of consideration, he finally answers, "Yeah, but let's not."
You lean forward on the chair and press him, "Show me right now!" You demand.
He takes a step back and puts a space in between, refusing to do what you ask.
You get up from your chair and stand in front of him, "Show me or I'll confess to everyone and then it's over," you threaten him.
Not letting him get away, you place a hand on his shoulder before continuing your words, "And then you're fucked," you enunciated the doom lingers on those words.
Minho clicks his tongue to try to diminish the threat in your words but it falls short on itself. He knows that he has to cooperate with you for this to work.
"Show me!" You pressure him with a squeeze on his shoulder.
He takes your hand away and now putting his hands on your shoulders, steers you back to your chair, then sits you down.
"Alright, I'll show you," he says, turning the chair the other way. He covers your eyes with his hand to show you what you want.
It's like a movie playing in the back of your head and each scene is taken from war, apocalyptic movies. Getting a seat at the congress is just the beginning, from there Nick will climb the power ladder and become the worst of evil.
Minho snaps you out of it and you gasp as if you've been pulled out of water.
"He's a fucking satan!" You say out of spite and that is the first thing that crosses your head.
"No, he's not one of us, not literally," Minho denies.
You turn your chair to see as he sees him sitting at the end of the bed, "They do like him, they're fans of his work, you might say."
When you thought Nick couldn't be more vile, the future Nick is far worse than you imagined. From what you saw through Minho's vision, you're assured of your decision.
"He's got to go. He's next," you remark.
You see Minho's face turns dim as if someone flipped the switch off, "Uh-oh, they're not going to like that."
Not accepting that Minho refuses to get behind your decision, you come up with your own defenses. You walk up to him and stand firm on your ground, "The only rule is to avoid murderers. You said that!"
He licks his lips which are as red as his hair and lets out an exasperated sigh, "Right. But he's responsible for an impressive number of juicy deaths—"
You cut him off with the current fact, "Not yet he isn't."
"But he–he... he likes to assault women," he argues.
You tip your head and come up with a reply, "But hasn't killed one, though, has he?"
"I mean, he killed a dog with a rock when he was 11," he shares information that he doesn't really favor him.
"Animals don't count!" You remind him of that, "That was one of the first things you said."
Minho seems to be struggling to come up with another excuse. It's the right opportunity for you to push him to the edge and give in.
"Is he qualified or not?" You corner him with the important question there is.
"Technically, yeah. But..." He meekly answers with a defeated sigh.
"He's the one. That's that," you end the conversation there.
With or without Minho's approval, you're going to kill Nicholas de Ville and stop the end of the world.

THREE DAYS TO THE END OF THE WORLD
"Miss Kim is in a meeting with Director Lane," The assistant says as you're about to push into Kim's office.
You turn around with your hand still lingers on the handle of the door.
"I know," you calmly reply.
"You don't mind if I wait in her office, right?" You ask the assistant.
Knowing Kim's traits, you're not surprised that she changes her assistant every few months. Must be hard to find someone who can handle her.
She seems to hesitate to let you in. You let go of the door and hold your bag in front of you. The occasion calls to use your power.
"You know who I am, right?"
"Y-yes," she stammers.
You walk up to her table and look her right in the eyes, "Are you?"
She nervously swallows air and gets up from her chair, "I don't think Miss Kim would mind letting you wait in her office," she says.
You maintain the gaze with her then smile, "Right."
Before you push inside, you stand in the doorway and request, "And can I have a cup of coffee?"
"Sure," the assistant replies.
"With cream, no sugar," you add.
"Yes," she answers.
"Why are you still standing there?" You ask with a subtle glare.
She fumbles to get out of her desk, "Right away, Miss!"
The coffee is just an excuse to send her assistant away so you can get on Kim's desk and search for something on her computer.
To cut time, you use the search box and type in what you're looking for. It takes a few seconds until the desired result appears on the screen, and you take a picture of it with your phone.
"Playing spies, aren't we?" Minho asks as he plays with a figurine on Kim's desk.
Hearing footsteps outside, you hurriedly sit on the sofa and pretend to play with your phone.
"Your coffee, Miss!" The assistant says, serving the steaming hot coffee on the glass table.
She holds the tray close to her chest and informs, "Miss Kim is on her way back and will be here in a few minutes."
"Thank you," you mutter.
Right after the assistant left, Kim came into the office, looking like she just ran a whole yard in her exquisite, pencil skirt.
"Oh, you're here!" Kim exclaims as she steadies herself with her hand on the handle of the door.
"That's what you called sex hair!" Minho shares as he sits next to you.
It takes no genius to know that the so-called meeting means so much more than that. The tousled hair, the untucked shirt, and the folded collar of her blazer are enough to explain what happened in the meeting. You lift your coffee cup and blow on it before taking a small, careful sip.
"What's up? How's it going?" She nervously asks, putting her notebook and phone on her desk as she quietly fixes her hair.
You swallow your coffee first before answering, "I came here to return the paperwork," you answer.
You take them out of your bag and place them on the table, "And also to taste the coffee your new assistant made," you add with a smile.
You seem so calm and collected that Kim takes it as unusual. She stops fixing her appearance and leans against her desk, her eyes are scanning you.
"Are you okay, babe?"
You smile at her and coyly answer, "Never been better!"
Your words only worry her instead of the opposite, she's nodding yet her eyes remain suspicious.
"I have to go back and work on my sculpture," you get up from your sofa and take your bag with you.
You walk up to her and look at her, looking at her face that would usually make you feel the slightest bit of distress. However, as you keep looking at her, you realize that there's no need for you to fear her. With or without her, you'll manage to live because she needs you more than you need her.
Kim senses that you're analyzing her in your head and you see that her cool exterior starts to crumble.
"Is something wrong?" She stammers
You smile at her and sling the strap of your bag on your shoulder, "I'm sorry for interrupting your meeting."
She rubs her neck and chuckles, "The meeting was close to finish anyway," she says.
"Jeff must be satisfied, huh?"
She rapidly blinks her eyes, "Pardon?"
"Satisfied with your amazing work," you put a context to your words.
She dryly chuckles and flips her hair to the back, "Yeah, I guess?"
"I'll let you get back to work," you say and make your way to the door.
You stop by the doorway and look at her, you point at her lips to tell her, "You might want to fix your smudged lipstick."
Kim's hand flies to her lips, cluelessly wiping the excess lipstick on her lips. You leave the room with a triumphant smile.
"You make good coffee but I suggest you work for someone else," you tell Kim's assistant on your way out.
-
After spending most of the day to prepare the technicalities.
You come back to your apartment to create the perfect plan for tomorrow. You lay out the city map in the living room.
With the address of Jeff's villa you stole from Kim's computer, you can look for the right place to execute your plan.
"After Nick finishes his speech at the city hall, he's got to head for Jeff's villa which is here," you mark the place with a marker.
You look at the distance between city hall and Jeff's villa, guessing which way Nick will likely take with his car.
"So... whichever way he goes, he's heading out of the city," you mutter.
A country road means it's less crowded therefore, it's an advantage for you.
"I'm thinking... I wait outside the city hall, then I follow him from there," you look at Minho.
You expect an opinion or two since you should be working together on this but he's too busy worrying about other things, worrying Nick is more like it.
Instead of solving it for you, he asks you another question, "What if he's not alone?"
You stack your hands on the table and look at him, "Is he going to be alone? You tell me," you ask him back.
He acts like he doesn't have the power to know everything, "Well, yeah but..."
You point at the map with the marker, "All I have to do is follow him and intercept him somewhere along—"
"Didn’t you hear me?" Minho suddenly stops you midsentence.
He waits until you look at him before continuing to talk, "They're not going to like it," he says for the umpteenth time.
You have enough of him reminding you of it but you have decided therefore, you will not back out of your decision just because he told you so.
"It's within the rules so they can suck it," you dare him.
Minho runs out of things to defend himself and this will be the last time you let him try to change your mind.
"It's him or no one," you sternly tell him.
With two days left and a plan you created, you don't see why you should back down now. Nick is the perfect target, he needs to be killed.
You sit face him on the floor and urge him to pick a side with the most important question of all, "Do you want to fail your initiation or not?"
Minho knows that he doesn't have much of options, he either helps you with your plan or lets it blow and obliterate everything.
From his silence, you know what the answer is.
-
TWO DAYS TO THE END OF THE WORLD
It feels right to kill him.
At this point, you can't tell what's right and wrong anymore. But killing Nick feels like the right decision, you'll not only save the world from ending, but you also save the world from a doomed future.
You've been waiting outside the city hall in the used car you bought yesterday and have your eyes on Nick's car that is parked not far from yours.
Your hands are steadily holding the steering wheel, knowing that Nick is going to come out of the city hall soon.
When he does, you grip the steering wheel and your hand is ready to turn the key in the ignition.
You watch as Nick talks to someone else before getting into his car. You turn your car engine a minute after him and drive, trailing not far behind him.
You look to the side, at Minho who has been so quiet sitting on the passenger's side, and give him the one last chance to say something.
"You've changed," he says and you're not sure if he is disappointed or impressed.
Minho is simply running out of things to say to change your mind. What he can do now is go along with the plan.
You wait until you're entering the quieter country road to pick up the speed, getting closer to Nick's car.
You step on the gas and align your car with his, before hitting the back of his car, almost sending his car out of the road.
Aware of what you're trying to do, Nick drives faster and you catch up to him by not letting go of the gas, pushing the car to its limit.
To get momentum, you slow down your car to give you space to hit his car harder. You brace yourself for impact and crash your car with him.
There's a loud banging sound and you hurriedly step on the brake, not risking your life until you know for sure that he's dead.
Your car swerves before the brake stopping the car from hitting the tree even though you ended up hitting your head on the steering wheel.
You look through your rearview mirror, Nick's car is turning over on the side of the road.
"Let's just go!" Minho says.
You shake your head, "I need to make sure that he's dead."
Ignoring Minho who keeps telling you to flee the scene, you get out of your car and check Nick's car. The car is upside down, you have to kneel to see if he's still showing signs of life.
There's only one way to make sure of that. You walk to your car and open the trunk, you retrieve the gallon of kerosene you bought.
"What are you doing?" Minho asks in a panicked voice.
"I'm making sure that he's dead," you answer.
You pour it all over Nick's car and stand a few meters away as you look for the lighter in your jacket pocket. The bursting flame swaying away with your shaky breath you let out through your parted mouth.
"And he doesn't deserve an easy death," you add.
You toss the lighter and the inflammable catches it fast, setting the car on blazing fire. Your eyes are filled with glowing embers, reflecting the hatred you have for him.
-
The last thing to do is to get rid of the car.
You drive it to the nearest junkyard and have it crushed with the machine by paying the worker there. You fetch a bus from there and throw all of the clothes you're wearing into the bin a block away from your apartment building.
Nothing feels as good as knowing that you've done the worst of things for the greater good of humankind.
You come home to see Minho is already inside, leaning against the back of the sofa with his arms crossed.
"You did it!" He says with disappointment tainted his triumphant smile.
With the adrenaline still pumping, you come up to him and not stopping until your body crashes into him. That's enough of arguing, talking, scheming, plotting, and not enough physical contact.
After everything you've done, you learn that fear is nothing to you but something that's been holding you back. You don't want to let fear dominate you anymore, you want to take back your life into your own hands.
Without hesitating, you grab the front of his shirt and pull him close, close enough that you can land your lips on his.
Something explodes inside of you the second both of your lips collide in a rapturous kiss.
The two of you stayed like that, encased in a moment that slowly set the fuse on your desire.
You gasp as you pull away from the kiss and you look at him, finding comfort in what once was a scary pair of eyes. He looks back at you with his arms locked around you.
Gosh! He's so beautiful, even more beautiful than the one you created in your head. Using your hand, you tenderly touch his face, you run your finger down his sharp nose and remember sculpting it.
And these lips, oh... you remember how hard and cold it felt under your touch but now, it feels warm and soft, like a flower under the sun.
"Just let me—" You let your desire finish your words.
You lean in and kiss him again, tasting his lips that get even sweeter with each kiss and with each kiss, your hand gets curious.
You let them explore his clothed body but that's not enough.
Minho gently pushes you away, breaking the kiss and putting a space between your bodies. For a second you thought he refused to do this and instead of that, he takes all of his clothes off right in front of you, exposing his body that is you eager to explore. It takes you a moment to take everything in.
Minho has to take your hand and put it on his body, letting you know that it's okay to touch him.
"You're beautiful," you breathlessly say, overwhelmed by what you're seeing.
You whimper at how perfect he is, smooth and warm. His muscles are firm yet you touch him with so much tenderness, afraid that you would break him.
"You're ethereal..." you dreamily sigh.
Minho puts his hand around your neck and tilts your head to kiss you. As he puts you in a spell with his kiss, his hands are swiftly removing your clothes and let them fall onto the floor.
Slowly, he draws your body close until your body meets his, skin-to-skin with nothing in between.
-
It's unclear what has gotten into you but you like it.
You like how confident you are, how carefree yet in control you are. Other than that, you like how Minho looks at you as you sit, straddling him on the bed.
Aligning his cock with your entrance, you slowly lower yourself down his length while letting a long, breathless moan out of your parted open mouth.
You mewl feeling his cock filling you to the hilt, keep mewling as you're adjusting yourself to his size.
Minho places his hand on your chest, right on your beating heart then slowly drags it down, then to the side to hold you by the waist.
Then out of the blue, he chuckles at you.
You open your eyes and place a hand on his chest, "What?" You ask as you look down at him.
He places his other hand on your waist, "I haven't permitted your entry yet," he says.
You break into laughter and lean in, stopping him from laughing with a kiss.
"Say yes, say yes, say yes," you say with each you plant on his face.
Minho is smirking under you, not answering your question just to annoy you.
You catch his lips in yours and bite on his lower lip before you let it go, "You're not going to say yes?"
Still not getting an answer, you place both hands on his chest and slowly, roll your hips in circular motions. You're lowly moaning feeling his whole length inside you.
You look down at Minho and he has his eyes closed, his eyelashes fanning out so beautifully along his eyelids, and his mouth is slightly parted open, you hear him lowly whimpering as you keep rolling your hips with his cock inside you.
Now moving your hips back and forth, Minho is grunting, digging his fingers into the flesh of your thighs. You keep your hips moving and keeping a steady pace.
Driven by the desire, your body is taking over and picking up the pace. You plant your foot on the bed, launching him deeper inside you and earning a groan from him.
Minho grabs you by the waist, trying to slow you down but you don't seem to be the one in control of it, you keep chasing for that high.
You throw your head to the back while keep taking his cock, in and out of you at a quick pace, getting you closer and closer...
"Oh..." you let out a broken moan.
You keep moving despite the immense pleasure that clouds your mind and dulls your senses. Your hands are grasping at nothing but clawing at his warm, smooth skin.
Minho catches you as you collapse into his arms, putting his arms around you with your head resting on his chest. He put all of your hair to the side, allowing him to place a kiss on your neck.
"Yes," he whispers into your ear.
You weakly chuckle at his late response. You look at him and say, "Too late."
Yet he tightens his hold around you and begins to buck his hips from under you, making you moan with your head buried in his neck.
Minho presses his mouth close to your ear and whispers, "I said yes nonetheless."

ONE DAY TO THE END OF THE WORLD
Today is going to be a good day.
You can just tell from the moment you open your eyes. You have to squint for a moment to adjust to the light and see the bright, beautiful day through the window.
You stay lying on the bed while looking at the morning sky and as you gather your senses, the recollections of last night come into your mind. What you touched, you tasted, you kissed... and without you intending to, your hand is wandering to places where he laid his hand on you.
It reminds you of the company you're with and you turn on the bed to see nothing but a crumpled sheet next to you.
You clutch the duvet close to your chest to shield your naked body from the cool, morning air.
"Minho?"
There's no answer but your call that is echoing in your empty apartment. Wrapping yourself with it, you get up from the bed to look for him.
"Minho?"
Still no answer and the first thought that runs through your head is that he's gone. The contract is finished, therefore, there's no need for him to stay.
Tears pool in your eyes as you keep looking for him from room to room, dragging your duvet across the floor wherever you go. You're getting hopeless the more you search and not finding him there.
Fear is spreading inside you, telling you to give up and stop hoping. You return to the living room and finally find him there, standing in the middle of the room.
You rush to come up to him and break into tears as you bury your head in his chest, "Where have you been? I've been looking for you!"
Minho holds you, putting his arms around you, and tangles his hand in your hair. He places a soft kiss on the top of your head.
"I have to make sure of it," he says.
With teary eyes, you look up at him, "Make sure of what?"
He takes something from the inside pocket of his black coat, it's the pocket watch and he opens it to show that the line hasn't gone yet.
Another kind of fear spreads all over your body and you feel cold all of a sudden. You slowly let go of him and take the pocket watch from him, looking at it in disbelief.
"But I–I killed him..." your voice breaks at the end of the sentence.
Minho turns his head to the side and magically turns on the TV. It's a broadcast of the morning news with the anchor in the middle of reading breaking news.
"...running for congress, Nicholas de Ville of the de Ville family got into a fatal accident on his way to a private residence where his campaign base is located. The car was on fire when the emergency service came and luckily managed to pull him out a moment before it exploded. Nicholas de Ville is now getting intensive medical care at the Unity Hospital. It is announced that he suffers from third-degree burn and a broken—"
You stop listening to the news and look at Minho, "Why—"
A moment ago, everything was so perfect, so right, and now... you're at a loss for words. You should have checked thoroughly, you should have stayed there and made sure he was dead.
"I have to finish it," you remark with your eyes still prickled with both tears and fear.
Minho sighs and puts his hands on your shoulders, "Just let it go," he says.
You take a step back, sending his hands to slide off of you and drop to his sides.
"Nick has to die," you persist.
Before Minho can try to change your mind again. You go back to your room and toss the duvet, you get dressed as quickly as you can.
Minho is trailing behind you as you make your way out of your apartment "We gave today to find someone else—"
You shut the door closed to stop him from talking. You should have taken him out with your own hands and that's what you're going to do today.
This time, you're going to do it right.
-
The studio looks like an abandoned place when you haven't visited it for a few days.
You came here to retrieve something. You make your way to carving tools and you remember throwing away the one you used to kill Tim into the river, along with the bread knife.
You have a selection of hammers but the sight of the sharp end of the chisel catches the light and reflects it to your eyes.
Your hand is reaching for it but before you get a hold of it, the doorbell rings.
No one visited your studio except for Kim but she wouldn't come this early, not on a Friday morning. You check through the window and see a man standing outside your gate.
"He's a police," Minho informs.
The police may catch up to something at this point but to your surprise, you don't feel scared at all. Maybe the scariest thing for you at the moment is letting Nick live and giving him the chance to rule the world to only stir it into its doom.
It's either now or later. You calm yourself down and put on your game face before opening the gate.
"I'm Detective Leon from the police department," he says, showing you his badge, "I'm just making some routine inquiries."
You keep the door open just enough to show yourself that you're unarmed.
"Do you mind if I have a word?" He asks.
"Yeah," you answer.
Then you realize that you're saying the wrong thing, "I mean, no, I don't mind," you correct yourself and put on a courteous smile.
He nods and asks, "Inside?"
You don't want to let him inside, not when he can see that you have all your carving tools on display.
"Invite him and kill him," Minho comments from the back of the door.
Not letting him in would only add suspicion, you open the door wider to let him in, "Yeah. Please, come in!"
With his salt-and-pepper hair and beer belly, Detective Leon looks too old to be a police detective, he should be retired already.
He walks around your studio and now is observing your far-from-finished sculpture.
"Would you like something to drink?" You offer as you make your way to the kitchen.
He is now standing close to the table full of your carving tools, "Oh, no. I won't keep you," he kindly refuses.
"Like I said, it's just a routine," he adds with an unsettling smile.
"Okay."
Yet you proceed to try to make a cup of tea as to seem you're going on about your day like normal people.
"Were you at the bar on the Monday night?" He asks.
You open your drawer and see the knife blinking at you, tempting you to pick it up.
"It'll be an easy kill. He was gonna have a heart attack next year anyway," Minho encourages you to take the chance.
You almost forget the question and retract yourself back, "Yes, I was," you honestly answer.
"Regular, are you?" He asks.
You put your hand inside the drawer and take a spoon instead, turning to face him so as to not be seen as rude.
"Nah. I wouldn't say that," you reply.
"How often are you in there?"
You lean against the kitchen counter with your hand ready at the handle of the drawer
"It's not like he has any family. No one is going to miss him," Minho whispers from behind you.
You close your eyes to remain composed, "To be honest, that night was the first time."
"First time?" He asks in disbelief.
He stands next to a block of stone and lowly chuckles, "Isn't it just around the corner?"
You don't see why it's something unbelievable? It may sound suspicious but you tell him the truth.
"Well, I don't drink. Not usually," you tell him and that is also the truth.
"But you did that night," he points out and the one corner of his mouth curls into a subtle smirk.
You quietly exhale air to maintain your composure, "I was busy working on my sculpture and I'm not meant to drink. I was... having a creative block, you might say," you're eyeing the unfinished sculpture standing close to him.
Detective Leons also looks at it, touching the rough edges of it.
"I don't have alcohol in the studio or anything, but... I needed it that night," you lie. You needed the courage that night and that's why you drank.
Detective Leon walks and stands in the middle of the room "Well, we all need to let off steam every now and then," he says.
He shows sympathy just so he can earn your trust, to allow him to dig deeper until something slips out of your mouth. You catch his eyes and hold his gaze for a moment, not long enough to see the anxiety stirring inside you.
"Thank you," you mutter.
You dare to look at him and casually ask, "What's this about anyway?"
It's been a while yet you only asked about his intention to come here just now.
"Well, you've probably heard about Tim and Kurt Shaw," he answers.
Now that you know which murder he linked you to, you get more cautious with everything you say to him.
"Who?" You play innocent.
He walks up to you and leans against the end of the kitchen counter, "Tim and Kurt Shaw."
It's no use to play dumb, detective Leon probably knows by now that you went to the same school with Tim.
"I know Tim Shaw but Kurt... I don't know him," you lie.
You're well aware he's analyzing every gesture and word you said and he gets quiet after getting an answer from you. After a moment, he talks again, "Tim Shaw was there at the bar that night, did you see him?"
"Yes," you shortly answer, stalling would only make you seem suspicious.
"I wasn't sure it was him at first and when I did, I came to greet him, you know as a friend from art school," you further explain with a thin smile at the end.
"Did you see him after that?" He asks, getting more specific with his questions as if he has decided that you're the one he's looking for.
"No," you coyly answer, "I went back here and continued working on my sculpture.
He gets closer to you yet maintains a respectful space in between, "So you didn't see him after?"
"No," you tell him without showing flinching and blinking your eyes.
This time, he looks right into your eyes and you can't avoid it, or else he knows you're hiding something.
You walk him back to the gate and open the gate for him, "So sorry, I wasn't much of a help," you tell him.
He stands in the doorway and gives you his card, "Well, if you recall anything, please let us know."
You take it from him and smile, "Have a lovely day!"
Detective Leon takes one last look at you and exits the gate, you're more than glad to slam it closed.
"Well, one good liar, aren't you?" Minho comments from the top of the stairs.
"I'm impressed," he adds as you walk past him to get back inside the studio.
"He didn't buy it though," Minho informs.
You make your way to grab a chisel and put it inside your coat pocket, "Better hurry then!"
You hail a taxi the moment you're out of the gate and get into the back while clutching your chest, feeling the cold chisel inside your coat pocket.
"The cop is following us," Minho says.
You can worry about the police later. You have an urgent task and you have to get it done as fast as you can.
You look away from Minho and tell the taxi driver where to go, "Unity Hospital, please!"
-
Taking a look at the map of the hospital, you guide yourself through the hallways of the hospital.
"It's not too late to find someone else," Minho urges you to change your mind.
"Oh, shut up!" You snap at him, it's his fault to talk at such a dire time.
You take a turn to the right that leads you to where you're heading and there it is. It's not hard to find where he is, a rich family like him would be staying in the VIP room.
The hardest part of it is to enter it, you have to sneak your way in.
Seeing that you hit a dead-end, Minho takes this as his last endeavor to turn it all around, "I'm just saying it'd be much easier for me if you found someone else," he explains.
Minho seems to not get it yet that it's not about stopping the end of the world anymore. It would be pointless if Nick is still alive, he has to die no matter what.
You turn your head at him and intensely stare into his eyes, "If you're not going to help, then piss off!"
He looks at you, doubting that you dismiss him.
"I mean it," you tell him, feeling fed up with everything and you don't need him to keep interrupting you.
He sees it now that you want him to go, "Fine!"
With a snap of his fingers, he disappears right in front of you, leaving a cloud of black smoke behind him.
You manage to grab a medical mask from the nurse station and put it on, pretending as a mere relative of a patient.
Looking around the hall and making sure the coast is clear, you let yourself into the room with his name written outside the door.
There he is, lying on the bed with his body wrapped in gauze. You get closer to see his face, the burned skin around his eyes that is now closed, you guess he must be heavily sedated.
You hate to give him the easy way out but this is your chance to end everything for good.
You stand close to his unconscious body and take the chisel out of your coat pocket, pressing the sharp end to his neck.
This is not the good time to hesitate but you can feel your determination shrinks in each passing second, ultimately because Minho isn't here.
You take a deep breath and press the chisel deep into his neck. All it takes is one good stab at it, poke it real hard, and make a hole in his throat.
You lift your chisel and decide to aim it at his heart, taking one long breath, you put all of your strength into—
"Stop!" Someone shouts with the door wide open.
Your head snaps to see Detective Leon aiming his gun at you and taking cautious steps toward you.
The time is closing in and if you get caught now, you won't get another chance. You make another attempt but Detective Leon takes another step toward you, taking a good aim of his gun at you.
"I said stop!" He orders you.
You put away the chisel but keep holding it, gripping it tight until your knuckles turn pale and cold.
"I have to do it," your voice is quivering as your anxiety rises inside you.
"It's not right!" Detective Leon says, taking another careful step to get close to you.
You point your chisel at Nick's body and desperately say, "If I don't do this by midnight..." A choked sob gets in the middle of your sentence.
Standing right across from you, Detective Leon pushes his gun right at your face. He stares straight into your eyes that were filled with suspicion now filled with a slight terror and repulsion.
"Put it down!" He orders you
You quickly wipe away the tears rolling down your cheek with your hand, "There'll be fire... everywhere," you continue your words.
For the umpteenth time, he urges you with his gun steadily pointed at you, "Put it down!"
Giving in means that you've given up on everything and wasted away all of your endeavors but at the same time, you just want it to end.
"I... I can't!" You resist with your heart filled with despair.
As your eyes get blurry with tears, you wipe them away only to get caught off guard. Detective Leon successfully got ahold of you.
You keep crying as you get pushed to the wall and he puts your arms together behind your back, putting you in handcuffs.
"Minho, I'm sorry..." you mutter even though you know he's not there.
-
After hours of being locked in the interrogation room and refusing to talk without the presence of a lawyer like Kim ordered you through the phone, they let you go.
It feels good to let go of the cold of metal handcuffs around your wrists, but it's not yet the time to let out a breath of relief.
Kim sits you down on the dining table while she sits next to the lawyer, drilling you with questions about everything you've done.
You're too busy looking at the clock, seeing that it's getting closer and closer to the end. You turn your head and realize that the lawyer asked you a question, but you're too distracted to hear him.
"Pardon?"
He fixes his sitting position and clears his throat "You have to kill three people?"
You've been holding your glass of water with both hands on the table, watching the droplets of condensation dripping down the back of your hands.
"Yes," you weakly answer.
"You're saying you were only targetting people who have done something wrong?"
"Yes," you answer, "Except for Tim's brother."
You take a moment to recall his name, "Uhm... Kurt?"
The lawyer is fiddling with the stack of papers as he further asks you more questions.
"And each time you sacrificed someone, it got registered on the talisman? Is that right?"
You nod again, "Yes, but they said Tim didn't count."
The lawyer clears his throat again, but this time, he does it while glancing at Kim. He then takes a ziploc bag of your things that got confiscated when you were at the police department.
He takes the pocket watch out of the bag and slides it across the table, "Is this the talisman?"
You let go of the glass of water to take the pocket watch, opening it to find the watch is dead and the glass cracked. It appears to people that it's just an old pocket watch and nothing more.
"Before, it had numbers on it and that sort of changed when you looked at it..." your words are trailing off the second you realize how crazy you sound.
The lawyer stacks his hands on the table, "And the demon who told you to do all this?"
"Yes."
"And what did he look like?"
"A monster at first, then he turned into the man of one of my sculptures," you shortly answer.
"He looked like the man you carved? Like your sculpture you made?"
You nod.
A moment passes in silence as the lawyer exchanges a look with Kim.
"So the demon..."
"His name is Minho," you keep holding the pocket watch, hoping that it'll summon him and assure you that it is all real.
You can hear the lawyer letting out a big sigh before asking the next question, "And if you don't do what he told you..."
He sighs again as he writes something on his note, "It'll be the end of the world?"
Instead of answering it verbally, you nod.
"He didn't just tell me," You say.
You hold the pocket watch inside the palm of your hand and put all of your fingers on it, "He showed me what it would be like."
The vision Minho made you see is still vivid and you can see it replaying in the back of your head, "I felt the flames. I smelled people burning..."
The lawyer seems to have given up trying to get something that would help you avoid getting sentenced to life for what you did.
He turns to Kim and quietly whispers, "Her mind's gone, that's for sure."
It's Kim's turn to draw a big sigh and sits straighter on the chair, "You may leave now. It's late, we can continue this tomorrow," she says to him.
The lawyer collects his papers and pens, putting them into his briefcase, looking impatient to get out of here.
Kim has been eerily quiet. She comes back after sending off the lawyer, she then drinks her glass of water just so she can fill the glass with liquor next.
"I tried to stop it, Kim," you tell her.
She looks at you as she drains her first drink and refills it with more liquor.
"Honest I did," you assure her, feeling like a failure that you let down everyone, billions of them.
"Enough!" Kim snaps, throwing the glass she's holding at the wall and it's breaking into pieces, glimmering under the fluorescent light.
"You have to trust me. You have—"
Kim slams her hands down on the table, "Enough with this nonsense!"
You understand that it's a lot to take in, not to mention that she's upset and tired. You try again even though you know it's going to be another fruitless effort, "I know that you think I'm crazy, Kim, listen to me..."
"No!" She cuts you off with another slam of hands on the table.
"I told you to take your medicine!" She screams at you until her voice is strained.
You admit that you haven't taken your medicine the last few days but that doesn't mean you made everything up. You remember taking them and still seeing Minho which doesn't prove that you made it all up.
Then it hits you that the reason why she always reminds you to take your meds is not because she cares, it's because she thinks you are crazy.
"You're just like everyone else..." you meekly say.
You didn't know you're crying until you touch your cheeks and they are wet with tears, "You think I'm crazy..."
Kim doesn't say anything but goes to your room and returns with your bottle of pills in her hand. She uncaps the bottle and lets the contents spill onto the table.
"If you had taken all of these pills..." she says, letting the empty bottle roll across the dining table, "All of these wouldn't have happened!"
You take the bottle and see your name written on it, seeing all the pills scattered on the table, you realize how many days you have gone without them.
This is when your reality starts to distort. You don't what's real or not anymore. Did you make it all up? And if it's real then where's Minho?
"I—" You look around for any signs of him, of his figure, or the sight of his red hair.
"I'm not..." you pause to wipe the tears pooling in your eyes, "...not lying."
The only way to prove everything is by showing Kim that you have only a few minutes left until the world is burning and comes to an end.
You look at the clock on the wall and the time shows that you only have less than two minutes to midnight, "Not long now," you mutter.
You look at Kim and tell her, "Know that I tried to stop it."
Kim grips the edge of the table and lets out a long sing, having enough of all of it, "Just... stop," she says through her gritted teeth.
"It's coming..."
You clasp your hands together in front of you and push it close to your mouth, nothing prepares you for what's coming. You close your eyes as you keep listening to the ticking of the clock that intensifies with each passing second.
Tick, tick, tick...
-
THE END OF THE WORLD
It's midnight and you open your eyes to look at the clock to make sure of it.
The needle has ticked past midnight and you look around to see that nothing happens. You hesitate to get up from your chair and look through the window to see that the world looks exactly how it usually looks like.
A single tear escapes the corner of your eyes and rolls down your cheek, you feel faint all of a sudden. Other than that, you feel like questioning everything you know.
Are you crazy just like everyone said you are? You ask yourself.
Your legs are wobbling, you collapse onto the chair as the answer hits you.
Maybe you are crazy.
Kim turns away, possibly holding herself back from screaming at you and telling you how right she was all along.
When she turns around to face you again, she looks frustrated by you and the whole situation, but mostly by you to the point that she can't look at your face anymore.
She walks to the sofa to retrieve her handbag and then stands at the end of the dining table, "I'll... see you tomorrow," she says.
She then heads to the door and the sound of her closing the door echoes in the big space, leaving you to process everything on your own.
A moment later, you get up from your chair and walk over to the window, looking at the world that seems so small to you from up here.
And tonight, the view makes you feel smaller than you already are.
Then you hear sirens blaring in the distance. You turn around and see him there, sitting on the chair you sat on earlier with his hands on the table.
"Hey..." Minho says with an apparent sadness in his eyes.
It doesn't matter anymore whether people think you're crazy or not, now that the world is ending, you're just glad that he's there with you.
"I failed," you can hear your heart breaking inside your chest as you said it.
He inhales air and then lets it out, "Yeah, well... me too so that's that," he says.
He turns the chair to face you and puts his leg over the other, "Just got word that they're casting me out."
Minho doesn't look like he's delivering bad news with a smirk dancing on his face, "so... eternal oblivion it is," he finishes.
To say that you're disappointed with yourself would be an understatement, you are devastated. Not only that you failed the billions of people from raging flames, but also Minho.
"I'm so sorry," you sincerely tell him.
Minho gets quiet. He then gets up from his chair and walks up to you. He looks at your face and stares deeply into your eyes, he seems to have something to say to you.
You look back at him and patiently wait for him to say whatever he wants to say to you.
"Do you want to come with me?" He asks.
"What?" You ask in utter confusion.
"That's where I've been, checking the small print," he says, placing his hands on each side of his waists, "The rules don't cover it."
He takes a step closer toward you and continues speaking, "There's another loophole, apparently."
He looks at the view outside as the world slowly stirs into chaos with the sounds of sirens blaring everywhere, exactly like he showed you that night.
"They don't say anything about a human companion," he explains, then slyly smiles before talking again, "So, I mean... you could come with."
The offer comes so sudden and you remember how he talks about this place that he tried so hard to not fail his initiation.
"To eternal oblivion?" You ask for confirmation.
He scrunches his nose, "It's much worse than that," he says.
The sheer enthusiasm you have fades away with his answer, perhaps it would be bearable when you have him with you, wherever it is.
"It's with me," Minho adds with a playful smirk.
Well, the choice is here or there, but you can't have him here. You look at the world then at him.
"I'll give it a go," you say with a smile.
A smile rises on his face too, a smile that shines brighter than the fire that is about to engulf the whole world. He takes another step, closing in the gap between your bodies.
At the same time, an explosion occurred at the end of the horizon and it's so bright it's blinding you.
Now you know that it's the end of the world from how everything falls into place and in the end, nothing matters anymore. It doesn't matter that they choose not to trust you and think you're crazy.
What matters now is the one that sticks with you to the very end.
Minho takes your hand and intertwines it with yours, "It's going to be alright now."
You look at him and hold his hand back, everywhere it is, you can't wait to spend eternity with him.
Together, you're walking hand-in-hand, leaving the world as it goes up in flames and into the oblivion you go, forever more.

Am I the only one who feels that Hazbin Hotel's overall vibe is far too naive and upbeat for an adult cartoon about hell and redemption of sinners?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like before writing this cartoon, Vivzie and the other writers should have made a trip to unfortunate areas of the world and watch how the lifestyle there rolls. Because hell is said to be a place of misery, where there is no trust and a lot of hate, both internal and external... Adam is an object of pure unfiltered hartred (both from writers and fandom) because he dares to live in heaven, such a safe and friendly-natured place...
And yet the sinners who happen to be main characters act more like school kids on a field trip (even more carefree than those, lol) - their selfish and sinful motives are so artificial and are brought up only when these characters need to look like a victim, not like criminals who somehow deserved a place in hell
Obviously, it's a manipulative trope to put them in a better light than Heaven and Adam (who is forever silenced by the writers and not allowed to voice any thoughts and reflections other than "hurr durr murder I luuuv murdering and being evil because that's what I was since I was born, even though Lilith and Eve, born literally the same way as me, were innocent victims from the get go, and no logical explanation for that will be provided whatsoever - men bad, women good")
In the light of all that, the sinners are too eager to trust each other and form "da epic powar of friendship" mlp-sonic-style
In a society built on terror, anarchy and survival instincts, no one would ever bother wasting vital power on noticing someone's problems and helping them out. Everyone is focused on their own problems and desires, and that's what drives them to act. Well, the exception may be family members, and even that varies
That's why Husk's intent to comfort Angel after the later attacks him over nothing at the bar, looks really fake, considering the setting. At first I thought that "loser baby" where Husk insults Angel, was some sort of revenge and Husk laughing in the spider's face. But no, it actually turned out to be a comforting song that started their friendship. Husk literally had no motivation to want to help Angel, because he was annoyed by him all the time prior. If there was some kind of basis for their bonding, I would have believed it. But not like this.
And Angel had no reason to actually like that sort of comfort. I get it when your best friend or a family member cheers you up in a harsh way - you know them. And even when coming from people you trust that can hurt. Now imagine a complete stranger doing that to you. That's actually something that shouldn't be done - trying to playfully insult or jester a person you haven't communicated with for a long enough time to gain their trust. And to make this even more strange, Angel at first reacts negatively, but then suddenly snaps to liking that disrespectful way of comforting for no reason at all.
And why did Angel even vent his problems to Husk, a stranger bartender who he'd hurt before. Wasn't he actually afraid of being laughed at and of Husk using his trauma to spread gossip around or something?
Next, Sir Pentious. In the pilot (which is officially part of canon, mind you), he already felt like a joke sunday cartoon villain, but at least he had some edge to him that made him look like a sinner with some dark history. In the series however, he gets nerfed the very moment he steps into the hotel to the point where it's painful to look at
His tendency to abuse his henchmen, his physopathic demeanor, his hartred for Cherri (instead of embarrassing attempts to get blue balled by her), his sincere power hunger - where did all that go? Vanished in a blink of an eye. All that's left of a promising snake demon is a pile of fanservice. So morally unchallenging and harmless that a viewer theoretically simply cannot resist loving him
Well i'm kind disappointed. We don't even know in what way Sir Pentious had to improve, because the plot never focused on his past, his life goals, whatever made him want to lead turf wars and whatever awful things he did in life, what was the point where he started degrading... none of that. He just became a better person after one "sorry song" and acted perfectly innocent ever since and didnt put any effort into getting ready to sacrifice himself for other main characters
The sacrifice... to me it's baffling how fast the sinners, over the course of just 6 months, actually became Charlie's family figures and risked their lives for her hotel. Such pure child-cartoon-styled power of friendship, built in hell, with the aid of a princess who cant even think through her project of helping sinners without bringing them more trouble... realistically, Charlie would have had to fight angels alone (how convenient it is that no main characters died in that chaotic brawl, right?)
And Charlie herself is far too naiive and soft-natured for someone who is free to walk along the streets of hell looking at all the muder, rape and othe horrible stuff that's happening there. Given that she's 200, Charlie had more than enough time to built up her street smarts and guts and learn to be more practical and mindful, instead of staying with the mind of a 12 year old who needs other characters to do everything for her (Lucifer, Vaggie, Alastor) and then get praised for THEIR efforts. That's hell's royalty and our main character?
Aaand since sinners are portrayed as Charlie's "people" (as if they are a nationality), sweet babies who all deserve redemption and are called innocent by Emily (I can't believe how dumb the writers made angels be) - the true essence of exterminatons is never focused on. Adam and his exterminator army are seen in the wrong, like some kind of monsters who terrorize poor souls. However, think about this - child molesters, rapists, torturers, bullies, nazists, actual racists etc died in those exterminations. Doesnt that seem like something a lot of us would want? To have scum like this disappear as revenge for people they have hurt/driven to suicide?
Exterminations are not really an act of racism, bigotry or something like that. They are an excecution of criminals, which a lot of sinners are.
But the black and white writing is trying to conceal that rather prominent highlight of the rotten part of Charlie's plan (not all sinners deserve mercy or redemption). All that was needed was to make exterminators these icky "villains" who luuuv killing and are never willing to listen
All in all, a cartoon that has an ambitious premise that should be driven by psychological reasearch/analysis and dark serious themes... makes me roll my eyes with its cliche use of "power of friendship" and " strictly good main characters, strictly bad villains" tropes. Too bad such beautiful animation was wasted on such juvenile writing that never had any effort put into it
There shouldn't even be any villains or heroes in a setting like this. Allow the lead roles (sinners in hell) do something actually questionable and be unlikable, don't coddle the viewer in fear of making them even the slightest bit uncomfortable. Allow those, who opposes sinmers, have personalities and reasons, not cliche sociopathy for sociopathy's sake to cause forced sympathy for the main characters
Pristine "safe" writing should not have a place in adult cartoons. Or else they will stay a product that'd rather be watched by 7-14 year olds instead of adults (I can't picture a single adult over 22 who would unironically call hazbin hotel a show that tackles realistic issues in an observant way)

I made a huge mistake in going to the MHA subreddit. The braindead takes on 427 have me convinced I'm stuck in a parallel universe where we're reading a completely different story:
"It's great seeing Deku play therapist with the LOV, but all it seems to have done is make things worse!" A) Izuku shouldn't be having to play therapist to begin with, considering he's a 16 year old kid. B) most of the LOV don't see anything they did as wrong, so idk what the fuck Izuku can do about that. Also, WHY AREN'T PEOPLE HELPING IZUKU WITH HIS OWN GODDAMN FEELINGS?!
Apparently Bakugou killed Kurogiri, and there's absolutely ZERO reaction to it both in and out of universe. So of fucking course Izuku is a murderer, but not their precious Bakugou 🥱.
"I feel like Hori's really underrated as a writer!" Horikoshi doesn't know Show Don't Tell, how to actually develop characters, and how to craft actual stakes in the narrative from a hole in the ground. Also, MHA is one of the most popular mangas worldwide, so you're not even using underrated right.
"I feel like Horikoshi sees our discussions and then implements them in the story!" This I can kind of agree with, considering how much y'all hate Izuku and worship Bakugou. But on the other hand, I really doubt Horikoshi thinks the MHA subreddit is as important as you think it is.
"Bakugou's totally going to ask Izuku to start their own hero agency together at the end!" Jesus fucking Christ, just say you hate Izuku. How would that be a great ending for him? He not only has to see the source of his low self esteem and borderline suicidal feelings achieving the dream he'll now never have, but you want them to WORK together?!
@nutzgunray-lvt 👋
Well a lot of the time looking into Reddit is always a mistake unless you're asking a very niche question and you get an answer from 9 years ago or something.
I feel like a lot of people whether that be in universe or in fandom forget that izuku is a 16 year old child soldier. Izuku is more than a decade younger than a lot of the villains in the leauge. He is a child who has been exploited by the system and abused. We have seen in 425 izuku try and talk to someone but simply get brushed aside and while I don't blame shoto or ochako for doing that as they probably didn't mean it and are traumatised themselves it kinda of shows how much this has effected izuku. Also this doesn't help BECAUSE HORI GAVE US NO FLIPPING INTROPSECTION ON IZUKU'S BIT AGAIN!! Also Iam not sure if it's just me but Izuku's eye bags are heavily prominent in this chapter especially when he is talking to spinner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fandom especially the lov stans side of it love babayifying the actions of the leauge and hyper fixating on the humane soft side they may have while completely ignoring the horrible actions they commited. I talk about this better in one of @palesweetscherryblossom asks
I still can't believe that bk may of killed kurogiri. I don't even know when that happend and I checked the wiki but it says that kurogiris status is unconfirmed so I will be waiting until the last chapter to fully acknowledge if kurogiri is dead or not. However this brings up the point that the fandoms is being quite hypocritical if they're calling izuku a murder but not bakugo. They both killed people but for some reason it's izuku thats put into public light and bashing instead of all the other characters that have killed in the series including villains.
Yeah sometimes it feels like hori is looking at discussions of his series and implementing ideas but I think that goes more for his Japanese fans than us to be honest because after all they're his target demographic. I remember when I first joined Tumblr one of my earliest posts talked about how horikoshi's writing decisions were heavily influenced by his fans which may or may not be true.
At this point IAM convinced that izuku isn't getting a proper happy ending. Every time I think it can't get worse it does. Just by your comment of them starting an agency together haunts me just like the possibility that bk may become the number one hero

I could write an essay about how much I love my GOAT Toji seriously
Tumblr media
Like he represents everything a jujutsu sorcerer shouldn't be and uses EXACTLY those traits to solo both the sorcerers and the curses they work so hard to exorcise
The fact that he has NO cursed energy at all, what made him worthless in the Zenin clan's eyes, was exactly what sealed all their fates in losing to him is an INSANE twist to pull
(Yes there's Maki, but she feels more like she's trying to work within the system despite her limits (like the glasses she wears to adapt), unlike Toji who is totally free due to overwhelming raw senses alone)
His introduction opened up a whole new way to see the power system of cursed energy while making complete sense with what has been established, for me at least
(I wasn't super interested in the jjk power system personally until Toji showed how its strengths can be the user's own weaknesses if exploited properly)
He is an iconic infamous stain on both the sorcerer world inside of JJK and to one of the most important characters which kicked off the whole plot
He EASILY solo'd the world's most powerful sorcerer at the time- someone who represents everything that is the opposite of himself- with base planning and strategy
Tumblr media
Didn't break a sweat the entire time
But despite all this power he has, despite the reputation he has for his strength, despite seemingly killing the world's strongest sorcerer at the time- the man was a deeply depressed and jobless bum
Tumblr media
He is not any happier before or after his assassinations are done
Feels good in the moment then he's back to his life doing nothing but gambling his money away until the next job
This man who has beaten everyone of every age and species now in the series (he said these hands are rated E for everyone) was actually a WIFE GUY
He was living a shitty life in his clan who abused and feared him but found fucking LOVE and turned his ENTIRE life around for ONE PERSON to be a normal man, even having a child with her
And after she dies he spirals into deep depression, to the point he is incapable of being a good father; he knows on some level that his mental state is so bad he couldn't take care of Megumi properly- THAT is how DEEPLY he loved this woman
Tumblr media
HE SOLD HIM THO WHICH IS TERRIBLE
BUT AGAIN
Showing how he's shit (making money from it) but also tries in his own way (I'm too mentally fucked up so a proper family should take care of him)
Then just looking into Megumi's eyes during his zombification knocks his consciousness back into himself, showing if there was one thing he truly cared about during his final moments, it was his son
Tumblr media
Then sacrificing his life for his son in the end without asking for anything but his name to rest in peace
BUT ALSO HE MURDERS EVERYTHING WITHOUT REMORSE LIKE?
THE JUXTAPOSITION????
Literally kills teenagers and even during his final moments and his comeback he doesn't give a shit
Tumblr media
Like he did a crazy anime fight to kill Gojo which was brutal but still a cool magical fight to watch
Then he fucking snipes a teenage girl in the head with a gun
A plain gun
No crazy stunts
No regrets
THE GOAT? 😭
ALSO THE WAY YOU CAN TELL GEGE LOVES HIM LOL
You could easily write his zombie ass out of the Shibuya Incident Arc but the man wanted to draw him again so bad he made room for necromancer granny to kick start the GOAT's return for a hot sec
HIS FIGHTS ARE SO COOL LIKE HE DON'T GOTTA RELY ON ANY SORCERER SHIT JUST HIS HANDS AND AN INVENTORY ON HIS SHOULDER ARE ENOUGH ITS SO RAW THAT HE CAN GO HEAD TO HEAD WITH WIZARDS AS JUST A DUDE AND WIN

personal post (tw: suicidal ideation, detailed descriptions of psychological and emotional abuse, osdd, alters, theories about alters splitting)
I have a child alter who is wildly suicidal, to the point where they'll push me to commit suicide with every opportunity, and try to do psychological damage to me as an attempt to make me suicidal. I've been trying to figure out for years what was it that made them so determined to die, with no luck because this alter does not give any information away, and seems to hate me and my attempts.
Recently I've had a flashback where I remembered what it was like to be their age. It felt like I had to die. There was constant pressure, almost like a duty, that I have to be thinking about ending my life at all times. I needed to make sure I wasn't alive for long. And I felt this at all times, that continuing to be alive is a failure and I need to do whats right. It was bizarre to remember. But there had to be a reason I felt this.
I attempted again to probe at the alter, to try and figure out whats the reason for all this, what was done to us to make us so determined to die? And this time I managed to get a little bit of information – the the alter lashed out at me saying 'well there's no other way! remember this!' and I got some interesting flashbacks of psychological abuse. I knew vaguely this was going on, but forgot for the most part, that it had any effect on me. (tw for the next part)
When I was about 8 or 9, I got my own room, and one of my caretakers, my grandmother, had an issue with that. Until then, she was able to lock me in her own room and beat me, because I slept in there, but now it was a bit more difficult to catch me. So, she would often stand in my doorway, and scream at me, for hours, in bouts of intense rage. I thought this was normal at the time, just because it was so common, and nobody did anything to stop it.
She would start by calling me animal names, and demonic names, telling me that I'm the most selfish brat to ever exist who only ever thinks of themselves, and I will burn in hell for it – she would describe it in detail how I would be boiled eternally, there was no escape from it. Then she would go on to tell me how everything that is wrong in the world is directly my fault – my parents fighting, other people being upset, her entire life and misery, that was all on me, I was the direct cause of it. And then, she would go on to describe in detail, how she was going to kill me, usually suffocating me with her bare hands. And she would swear and promise that she would do it, she'd challenge me to not even think that it wouldn't happen. And then she'd go on to describe how much I deserved that, how everything I do in life is done directly to ruin her life, to cause her misery, how I'm a demon who is only happy when she suffers, how I satisfy myself by torturing her, how I am the most twisted, cruel, despicable, demonic, monstrous, unforgivable, horrendous ugly creature that ever existed, worst person in the entire world, and how I should be deeply ashamed of myself and everything I've ever done. She would state very clearly how everything in the entire world would be better if I didn't exist.
Now, me being age 9 or something like that, I thought, well, maybe she's right, maybe I am a bad person, maybe I am selfish by not forfeiting every second of my life to others, maybe I really am the reason everyone is fighting all the time, maybe I could have stopped it. Maybe I need to think about others more often, maybe I need to be more critical of myself. But, no matter how much I changed my behaviour, her rage wouldn't stop, until I was faced with the inescapable feeling of just being so intrinsically wrong and defected that I shouldn't exist. I remember wanting to disappear, wanting to fall trough the floor and into the earth and cease and desist. I would have to spend hours and hours listening to her scream, telling me I should have been murdered the second I was born.
And at this point my father had tried to/almost killed me a few times so death felt like a very inevitable and natural thing to happen to me. I wasn't even scared of upset about it because it just seemed like one of the normal things you know? If you're small and you see things are bad you easily accept your fate. If everyone around you thinks you should die, then you will die soon and thats that.
So by the age of 13 I was full on suicidal, I saw no value in myself, I felt violence and pain was all I deserved because everyone agreed upon it, and it was what I was experiencing at all times. I couldn't stop listening to the screaming and at the end of it, I just agreed with it, it felt true, why would anyone say it so many times, with such intense rage, if it was made up? And by the person who knew me since I was born? I had no arguments against it.
And then one day I was like, wait, this will kill me. Her screaming at me will force me into suicide. I can't have that. I need to cut her off if I want to live. This person doesn't love me, she's trying to kill me. I can't keep listening to her or I'll die. And then I did the funniest thing – I stopped talking to her even though we lived at the same house. And she did even funnier thing and DIDN'T NOTICE for a FULL YEAR. Which sounds wild on the surface, but here's how it played out: She would say something to me, I would stay quiet. She would assume my answer, and say what she wanted me to say, and add 'right?' at the end. I would stay quiet. She would continue the conversation as if I had said what she imagined. And this went on for a year.
With this new situation unfolding, I became certain that she didn't love me, even though she would cry and swear how she sacrificed everything for me and was the only person who loved me and so on – I literally caught her not noticing that she's cut off for a whole year. That was some heavy evidence and I had it.
The screaming however, continued, but now I decided, hey, I don't need to listen to this shit. I would put my hands on my ears (didn't have earphones in that era) and make whatever noises to shut her out. And it worked, I became unaffected by the screaming because I was no longer listening, she eventually stopped because it became obvious that I was oblivious to it and had no reaction, and I guess that was just not fun for her. I went on to not be severely affected by whatever she said because I understood by then that she's a liar and after my life and didn't care for her antics anymore.
Now you might be noticing a lack of consistency here – just how would a child who is completely broken and suicial just snap out of it, decide to cut off the cause of suicidality and then live on to be unaffected by the same abuse that almost cost them their life until then? I originally thought it was some survival instinct kicking in, letting me know that I'm too close to death and need to be putting some boundaries in my life, but that wasn't the case. I went on to think that I was no longer affected by the years of this abuse, I never thought about it, never felt like I needed to process that, I was convinced I dealt with this as a child.
What actually happened is that I became too close to suicide and I split. My osdd figured I was  close to death and something needed to be done. An alter formed who was able to contain all of that trauma inside themselves, the memories of how it felt to listen to that screaming for hours and hours until all hope was lost, until I could no longer see myself as anything but deserving of death and eternal hell. That was wrapped up and put inside a child version of myself who couldn't grow, couldn't see trough any of it, and had to stay trapped in that world, where they're always a minute away from being psychologically tortured and having their integrity assaulted in every way possible, and forced to listen how much their family members wanted to brutally murder them.
Once this alter split off, I was left in control of the body. I was able to evaluate the situation without the emotional effects of being brainwashed or tortured and decided to cut of grandmother immediately and to live my life without listening to her nonsense.
What is interesting to me is that this was the third time an alter split off in order for our life to be saved, one before was split due to my father, and another due to my grandmother, because of other nasty stuff she was doing to me. I'm trying to figure out just how neglected a child needs to be that a complete overhaul of attitude, sudden non-reactiveness to brainwashing and sudden complete apathy to screaming interactions, is just not noticed. Like this kid was close to death seconds before and now they're just fine and going on about their day ignoring everyone, and nobody noticed.
And this is not me being strong or resilient or anything like that. It was my brain tearing my memories and emotions in pieces and containing them into alters so that I would be able to live on without comitting suicide. If this hadn't happened I'd be dead. This also meant that all of that trauma would come back and make me sick for the rest of my life, or until I resolve it. That was me sacrificing my future in order to be able to survive the present. Developing trauma disorders that meant I would have to live while the pressure to commit suicide is always present in my brain, but I can resist it because I don't remember how it came to be there.
*
So, back to the main plot, after I finally extracted this information from my trapped, tortured alter, who just wanted to end it all, I said 'okay, well give the trauma to me, I'm older so it makes sense for me to handle it.'
I didn't handle it well. It was instant pain, dread, horror, I wanted to be dead. I was bedridden for days, kept re-experiencing the screaming, remembered  how many times I listened to descriptions of myself getting murdered, felt very horrified about it, and couldn't see how I thought this wouldn't affect me. What even needs to be wrong with a person to go tell a child in detail how they're going to murder them, how is this giving anyone pleasure. Feeling very icky about that. How hard would it be not to speak out loud your children-murdering fantasies. Get a secret diary or something for heavens sake.
It's a few days later and I am feeling, kinda weak, kinda close to passing out at all times, a bit shaken, bit scared. Very betrayed. Thankfully my sense of self is enough well established that I never doubt if anything that was said to me back then was true, because I'm so disgusted with the person who said it, I'm just feeling grossed out with it. I don't think I've managed to take in all of the trauma from the child alter, it wouldn't be something I could experience in a few days, it's been years of that stuff. But I'm glad to make progress, I'm pleased that something originally nonsensical makes sense, I'm glad I can make connections to why this alter is so suicidal, and I can at least try to make it easier on them. I'm hopeful that one day this part of me won't need to be trapped in an eternal state of a child being told to die.

I give zero fucks about Alastor, but Valentino *IS* irredimable, rape *IS* the worst thing a person can commit. More than rape, Valentino ENSLAVES sex workers, dehumanizes them and abuse every single part of their existence. He is irredimable. He is a monster. Rapists are monsters and they don't deserve any kind of sympathy. The fandom hating Val more than Alastor is not a big deal as some people think it is, it's literally being a normal human being. (Alastor is also terrible, a serial killer and what he does to Husk is horrible, but even if he gets some sort of redemption it would be much better than giving a rapist redemption)
i hear you, but i respectfully disagree on a few points. apologies for how philosophical / unrelated to hazbin this is going to get, but i'm also a correlated philosophy major and i can't help it.
firstly, i generally resist the urge to strip the humanity from people who have committed atrocious crimes, because it's a slippery slope. dehumanization is always extremism, even if you're doing it to someone who you might think deserves it, because then how do we measure when a person has gone too far to be human anymore? how can we objectively measure the no-return threshold of irredeemability? i personally don't think we can, and that we shouldn't try. it classifies certain actions as outlandishly beyond the pale of the everyday person, when in reality anyone is capable of doing horrific things, and i'm not interested in obscuring that truth. it absolves responsibility.
secondly, with the understanding that obviously we're discussing a fictional character that has no bearing on the material world, i am wary of the claim that rape is the worst thing someone can do. not because i disagree, but because i don't believe in some objective scale of badness where each crime is neatly filed and ranked according to how horrible it is. it's sort of ridiculous how subjective morality is when you get down to brass tacks and super frustrating occasionally but it is what it is.
i also don't think there's such a thing as someone being irredeemable. cards on the table, i'm religious, and my tradition holds that redemption is possible for everyone - someone who is incapable of change may as well not be alive, and no one is incapable of missing the mark. in judaism, murder is the worst thing you can do someone, because there can be no complete repentance "unless the injured party has been appeased" (mishna yoma 8:9), and you can't repair a relationship with a dead person. of course, there's no compulsion for forgiveness either.
this is also tied to my rejection of punitive justice / the death penalty in general but i digress. this is really dicey, subjective moral territory, and i really don't have a perfect answer. i am just personally bothered by the idea that we can categorically revoke someone's ability to feel remorse and change their ways if they've "gone too far" and become some nebulous, inhuman monster by crossing the subjective line we've drawn in the sand. you can believe that rape is the absolute worst thing anyone can do, but i just want you to consider why you believe that beyond the cop-out that your belief makes you "a normal human being". your moral values are not universal, and neither are mine, and i would gently suggest examining your principles and whether they're based on punishment or rehabilitation & coexistence. there's really excellent scholarship out there on restorative justice and the shift away from carceral thinking, so i'll link some of those here:
breaking free of the prison paradigm by judy c. tsui
sexual violence and the possibilities of restorative justice by nicole westmarland, et al
restorative justice: the challenge of sexual and racial violence by barbara hudson
feminism, rape, and the search for justice by clare mcglynn
