For: Aragorn & Anborn :: @lordsxfgondor Specified Muse: Hal Verse: Lighting up a Darkened World
FEAR An unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm.
The one emotion that everyone could feel, be they Mortal or non-Mortal. Some fears didn't always make sense. Like having a fear of books or a fear of the outside. Other fears were far more tangible and race orientated; The Hobbits had a fear of water, so swimming was usually only left for the more adventurous ones.
Yet for the Free People, no matter what Race they were, the one fear that they all shared was of the Darkness caused by Sauron. Elves, Men and Dwarves had all seen the destruction that the former Maia of Aulë could cause when he wanted to. With both Eregion and Numenor being two prime examples.
Many had lost their lives to bringing down the reigning Dark Lord during the Last Alliance of Men and Elves. But their sacrifices, along with those of Elendil the Tall and Erenion Gil-galad, had brought a long but temporary peace to Middle Earth.
A peace that was gradually breaking up after Rangers from both Gondor and former Anor began to seemingly vanish into thin air. A cause for alarm? For the Dunedain, yes it was. But for others outside of the Men, it didn't seem to be a major issue. At first.
Given the darkening times, a hidden meeting had been set up to try and figure out what was happening. Faramir and Anborn for the Rangers of Ithilien; Aragorn and Hal for those of the North.
Dark grey eyes flickered around the room, remaining in the corner with part of her attention on the doorway. Despite the knowledge that she could apparently trust all those in the room, it hadn't settled her instincts at all. In fact, Hal had refused to go any closer to Faramir. Something that had gotten her a raised eyebrow from the other two Rangers present.
Not being much of a speaker, the lone gender-fluid Commander just listened for a few minutes. Talking was more her leader's area anyway, not hers in the slightest. Something didn't feel right though and it caused Hal to speak up.
"Exactly, how safe is this place?"

It wasn't completely unheard of for the Commander of Esteldin to disappear for a couple of hours, depending on how bad the mission was. But there was no mission and all she had planned was a visit to drop off some information that Aragorn had requested. Which obviously hadn't happened. And that was unusual as Hal never missed her meetings with him. "She was meant to bring you the information you asked for."
Information that was to do with some of their kin going missing. A situation that had become even more dangerous with her disappearance.
Taladir tended to leave the more physically demanding stuff to the younger Rangers now, due to his age and gradually failing sight. But it didn't prevent him from helping his kin in other ways, like teaching the weapon training for new trainee Rangers. He nodded at the quiet command, having been planning to stay in town anyway. "Yes sir. You'll find Saeradan searching near the entrance to the Northern Barrow-downs." He added just before Aragorn left.
"Captain." The gruff voice wasn't usually heard in Bree, not unless the old Evendim born Ranger came to visit his friend and Hal's grandfather, Maechedir. But this time, Taladir wasn't on a social call. "Have you seen or heard from Hal in the last two weeks?" // Tossing a sort of guest muse Aragorn's way | Taladir
Hearing the gruff voice had the Ranger slowly turning to face the other. That question had brought about Aragorn's concern, "I've not heard from Hal - nor have I seen her." The soft tone the brunette had was loud enough to carry out. His hand gripped at the hilt to his weapon, crystal blues swimming in emotion at the mere fact he'd not heard a peep from his second in command.
He needed to find her. And he needed to do so now.
Completely turning from the window the sound of boots tapping against the ground with each step he took was indication he was moving towards the door of the room "Keep an eye out," Aragorn spoke, turning so his attention was fixed upon the other "If she shows up at random, take care of her. Until then she is considered missing and I will be going out to find Hal. Do not leave from this spot, and do not let our business get out to anyone."
And with that, Aragorn had turned leaving the room while shutting the door behind him.

Hi, Vie is a precious baby and this screen is gorgeous
(below the cut is info about her in my frens’ and my au)
some characters mentioned belong to the following frenfs:
@elli-mk, @dumb-dumb-mander, @myommarie, @atomicpunchbaby
Vielcos; Spymaster of the Pact, member of Dragon’s Watch, dearest sister to Commander Cor Tellus, mother of Romeo and Saoirse
She’s a Night Bloom, a Daredevil, and has an odd habit to get naked for what she swears are completely innocent reasons. It’s just to compare a real Sylvari to the painting, really! Only a few months younger than the Commander, her Dream was quite cryptic. She recalled the shape of a crescent moon and a tree, but helping Tiachren didn’t feel exactly right.
In her Dream, if you’ll allow me indulge, she found herself in ruins. Old, but the walls were tall and strong. There were thorns, scattered everywhere. It felt like she was missing part of it, seeing movement obscured in shadow. If she tried to get close, the shadows darkened. How odd. She climbed the walls with such ease, seeing patches of thorns in footstep patterns, thick brambles on one of the walls. At the top, when she finally made it, moonlight glimmered on a patch of flowers, various blooms, but lilacs seemed the most prominent. In the center, where the moonlight focused, a shield, held down by brambles, stifling the plants beneath it. It looked like someone else had tried to free it. She managed, without pricking herself on any of the thorns. A moon shield, crescent as if protecting a tree. The cotton and lilac sprang to life when she lifted it.
Awakened on a new moon, in the dead of the foggy night. The perfect time for a thief to be welcomed into the world. She would go on to make quite a few friends, perhaps chief among them, the Guardians Mikhail Lys and Nohsi Vasila, Mesmer Jonah Kirim, and Ranger Raidelyn. She’d be sent to handle a situation at Southsun Cove while Cor was busy, a tug in her heart as she battled the criminal.
And, after he was defeated, as she kneel in the shallow water, she would look up to see the shadow, cast on the wall above a single lilac flower. A tangle of roots, illuminated by the moon... But only a crescent strip of light made it through the cave. How beautiful that was! How symbolic, though at the very moment she failed to realize. He ended arrested. She found herself sneaking in to see him.
Her Dream had another half, missing parts and traces of the thorn-steps. His Dream.
She would go on to assist her sister in killing Mordremoth, helping with the delicate cutting away of the thing that trapped the Marshal. Helping to kill a god. And, before returning home from the Crystal Desert, adopting an orphaned child. Poor boy’s family were just visiting to help the refugees. And poor Canach had no choice in the matter, his blossom was adopting little Romeo and that was that.
Two years, Romeo begs for a little sibling. One like them. Her dear sister had a pair of saplings, created by an asura researcher. Blending of DNA, a bunch of stuff she didn’t quite understand. But if it gave her dear son what he wanted, she’d convince her beloved. And it did, giving them little Saoirse.

Verses tags (mostly set in the third era)
Some verses are muse specific, which is why they aren't on here. I’m still working on adding verse though, so this will be updated.

Hal and questions weren't necessarily a bad thing. However. 9 times out of 10, her questions meant that danger was imminent. For her situational awareness was one of the strongest within the Northern Rangers, mainly due to the time spent on the Barrow-downs as a child. Being around spirits and grouchy old trees quickly made it second nature to her.
She tilted her head slightly, partly listening to Faramir and partly seeming to listen to something outside of the room. "Normally it might be. But until we know what's happening to our people, nowhere is truly safe."
Aragorn glanced her way at that, not needing long to realise what his second had already heard. Blue eyes shifted back to Faramir and Anborn, catching the gestures. He shifted slightly and looked over the map, before tapping a location that seemed a little bit odd. A refuge not far from where one of the Southern Rangers had vanished. "Splitting up into pairs would be safer than staying together. In case we are being followed."
