Okay so firstly: so true about the neurotransmitter problem gang. The concept of empathetic magic is discussed in the book The Study of Forbidden Magicks- and sounds like it was used to treat mental health disorders, at the cost of the practitioner taking on those emotions herself. Trying to purge them from herself when they became unbearable ended up going wrong, and it became a forbidden magic in Azaveyr, which I think is really interesting. I honestly find it the most interesting type of magic and would love to see the lore explore it more.

BUT ALSO: THE IDEA OF THE JANKY RESET BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS IS SO REAL. The idea of healthcare practitioners being remade in the new world, but their practice was so innate to their being that they carry forward the things core to that practice. People who used to be nurses not knowing why they know how to give an IV, but they know it's needed and they can save a life. Pathologists waking up in a post-reset world just innately understanding that the world of the microscopic is responsible for the plagues of the world, the process of disease control as obvious to them as the colour of the sky. Former pharmacists throwing themselves into alchemy, making tinctures and salves, looking at the people in their lives who are struggling, and feeling like there's something missing, something that they should be able to give that could help. Post-reset psychiatrists and psychologists to whom the phrases "cognitive behavioural therapy" or "psychoanalysis" no longer exist, but the process of coaching people through coping with their thoughts and emotions still comes naturally. Physicians wondering why they feel, in the depths of their heart, that the cause of a certain ailment is a particular organ nobody else even knows about- that they could fix it if they just had more power at their fingertips.

People feeling the voids of the reset, like reaching for a memory you're sure you have, but just can't reach. Like knowing you just had a crazy dream, but can't recall anything concrete. Like walking into a room and realizing you've forgotten why you entered- just that there was something you needed to do.

I often wonder what the actual state of medicine as a field is in dragonfable. We see that Magus Neron has a microscope, petri dishes, and hypodermic syringes. We know that the existence of cells is a known thing. Clearly we're not living in a pre-germ theory equivalent. But we also don't really see doctors around- alchemists like Alina seem to be the pick. Sir Junn is the only example I can really think of, and he also seems to be oriented towards alchemical solutions like the royal honey and corruption-cleansing potions, though we do have mentions of him using IVs in an ICU in his field hospital.

Healing potions would certainly be good for physical injuries, but I wonder at how well they treat illnesses and diseases. Are they a cure-all that's become so heavily relied on that, in the rare cases they don't work, nobody knows what else to do? Riadne's arachnomancy healing, delivering potions directly into the bloodstream, is treated as revolutionary, so I assume that pills or IV drips and infusions have not been popularized enough to be commonly used. Is that because potions as they currently exist are good enough for most applications, or because most people don't know how to use them, or because they're difficult to create or get ahold of? There are incredible technologies out there, as evidenced by the magisterium's drones and the gnomes'... everything. But whether or not these advances have ever been applied to medical applications has also never really been shown.

We've seen many examples of healing magic in lore, but the capabilities and limitations of it, as well as the actual process, are never really explored. Is it an actual active process of changing the body, or is it just empowering the natural healing process? We know that fleshweaving is a thing, but forbidden as an art due to its potential for abuse (and the fact that it apparently requires consuming elemental spirits), and Jaania's soulweaving-based healing of Brittany was a method she apparently invented through experimentation. So we can conclude that soul/fleshweaving are not being employed as a tool for medicine, and any commonly used healing magic probably doesn't modify the body in such a way.

There's lots of potential for medical technology and practice to improve, so one has to wonder what factors are at play to ensure they don't. Is it just reliance on the magic that already exists, leaving the people with rare cases to be untreated? I wonder if, to a degree, there's a perception of standard alchemy being "good enough" that medicine doesn't need to be improved. Perhaps that's compounded with some cultural taboos around "messing with" or manipulating the body, which may extend beyond magical practice into the scientific sphere. It could even be an acceptance of a flawed paradigm surrounding healing magic, just like how most mages accepted the leyline model of mana as absolute, when soulthreads demonstrate that it's flawed?

Or maybe the devs intended it all to remain in the mcguffin realm, where healing magic does everything you want when it's convenient and is limited only when necessary. But that's less fun to think about.

Okay, so when I was making this world I only gave myself few rules

The characters Stay in character

Most people are just 'basic' people, Maybe able to create Light, small sparks in their fingers, or with basic Cyberware/prosthetics.

No retconning (Though things may change)

No Backwards Time Travel.

Death by natural causes (Old age, Cancer, allergies, ETC)

While death generally isn't preferable, it isn't necesarilly a bad thing, given that there is confirmed afterlives, depending on what one's beliefs are.

Everyone goes on a weird journey at somepoint. Everyone. "Jerry, the Butcher down the street, went out for milk one day and came back a month later having shut down an Dragonling Trafficking operation and came home with a husband, wife, and three kids." Stuff like this happens all the time.

Beyond that, The world is Earth, but there are Monsters, (Owlbear, Things like yokai) Monster Girls (Like MGE, but far less horny), Fantasy Races (Elves, Orcs, Werewolves), and Advanced Cybernetics and Robotics (Like Cyberpunk, the AI are supposedly not sapient)

None of these characters have names yet So we begin with

The Gunslinger.

Born in Japan, The Gunslinger's parents split after his Father (An American Immigrant) was found Cheating on his mom with another woman. He wasn't particularly popular as a child, but he had his friends, the Werewolf and someone else who is unimportant right now.

In Current Day, as an adult, he works at a Gun shop, and he takes his job VERY seriously, checking and and double checking licenses and seeing if any weapons have unregistered modifications.

He personally wields two guns, one is a generic Semi-Automatic modern handgun, chambered in 9mm, used to disable/injure with out killing the target, with his second pistol being one of his own design, dubbed "Mateba Opus" which is a 5-cylinder Revolver chambered in .50 AE. It fires from the Bottom cylinder, and the cylinder moves forward to be flush with the barrel, allowing it to be suppressed.

Mateba Opus is what he uses to Kill. He hasn't had to use it yet.

He only kills when it's him or his assailant.

As stated, he has some Ghost powers, which mostly manifests as "Death Sense" which lets him know how close to the grave someone is, allowing him to blind fire and hit true without much risk of hitting someone that wasn't his target. He wouldn't blind fire anyway, because he takes firearm safety VERY SERIOUSLY.

Other ghost powers include - Entering and Moving through the Spectral Plane (Very painful) - Soul sight (Very straining) - He's able to hold souls in their dying bodies, keeping the Body alive just a bit longer, just a few seconds to give someone a chance at survival (Very Painful for all involved, also this one is HIGHLY illegal outside of the Medical Industry)

A somewhat Snarky and very sarcastic, but deeply caring and hurt person, he would a great deal for those he considers friends and family. Far more of an acrobat than a brawler, and he's also fairly lucky.

He also has an elderly Cat named Jeremy. The cat may or may not die of natural causes. (Spoiler alert. It does.)

He has short black hair, brown eyes, and Pale skin. He often wears a hat of some kind alongside a face mask, with a sweatshirt, short-sleeve, jeans, and either sneakers or short boots.

The Werewolf

This guy is far more simple. He's a werewolf, and gunslinger's best Friend. He loves his family (As his friends are family.) American.

He's a good cook, and does his best to make sure Gunslinger's taking care of himself, because the GS often forgets to do that.

He can freeze things with his breath, and He also has generic Werewolf powers. There isn't much to say.

He has a rosy complexion, built like a strongman, constant 5 o'clock shadow, and very big arms for hugging his friends. his hair is short and warm brown, also has brown eyes.

The Princess

So there aren't many places where tech and Magic entwine. Europe, especially deeper parts of Europe are very heavy in Western Fantasy stylizations, with castles and Western Dragons and the like.

She is the Princess of the Germanic Black forest, blessed with divine Druidmancy and Geomancy, she learns the ways of the earth, the roots, the rot, the rock. From the Tallest Boughs, to the deepest Metals, the oldest mountains to the youngest Fungi, she knows it.

Well.

She's trying to.

She's an Elf. Her parents are Charismatic, very versatile in their Magic, extremely High-Brow, and Very Stern.

The Princess, is not many of those things. She trips over her tongue, she's really only powerful in calling upon the forest and Earth to her aid, She enjoys the simpler things and more comfort foods, and she's immensely forgiving, Earning her ire for any stretch of time is a massive feat.

She's also very wild. While her parents tut and preach the manners of regality and keeping up appearances, she seeks freedom. She is more popular than her parents in terms of the general populace.

They fucking hate it.

She has a giant Arcane Mecha. She calls it Unterbrecher.

She is somehow paler than the Gunslinger, with Green and Amber eyes. Her hair is long and White. Her usual outfit is like, Armored robes? Very loose cloth with plates covering parts of her body, allowing freedom of movement and some slight protection.

The Assassin

As a catgirl She acts very much like one would expect a cat to. Quiet, observant, curt, and precise, while also maintaining curiosity.

A Mexican Immigrant, Her family moved up to the US when she was very young. Her mother and father own a restaurant. She loves the way they make Horchatas.

Her family is very happy and loving, constantly reaffirming their love and affection, and pride in each other, especially her given how quiet she is.

She is the black sheep of the family.

Her Weapon of choice is a custom made Gauss Rifle, which is powered by Nitrolozene Reactant Gum Cells (NRG cells.) She is often tasked with taking out threats to her boss, and she is VERY good at it. She is Licensed as a Class 4 Mercenary; Specialization Assassination.

She isn't particularly expressive in her face, but her tail and ears are a very good tell as to how she feels. She has a slightly darker complexion, especially noticeable against the very pale Gunslinger and Princess. Her hair is cropped and brown, with more more ruddy orange fur on her ears and tail. She wears a large, black trenchcoat with an internalized climate control system, sturdy black carpenters jeans, and chunky steel toed boots. Her eyes are Green.

The Boss

The Boss is the a leader of a gang, more than a mafia. I mean, they do run guns and illicit materials, drugs, etc, But they are far from evil, more like vigilantes. Like if you mixed Robin hood and Deadpool.

This loud, crass, foul-mouthed Cyborg can, will, and has crushed peoples skulls between her thighs, though her preferred of destruction is crushing them with her Coil Hammer, Ferrocious, a Custom made Magnetic-Dynamo Warhammer, which makes Super Sledges look like half-pound Ball Peens.

The Assassin is her Right hand, covering her when she need to get her hands dirty. She always like rolling in the mud. Good thing she can take a 40mm to the chest and only suffer mild arrhythmia and having the wind knocked out of her.

She is still (Mostly) only human after all. Far from invincible.

The Boss has a very Rectangular body shape, with broad shoulders and hips, and Abs you can Shred cheese on. Metaphorically. Her hair is waist-length, Brilliant Orange, very spikey and somewhat unkempt. Her eyes are still organic, colored Blue. The back of her legs are obviously enhanced.

The Idol

Arguably the weirdest of the group, given that she isn't supposed to fight in any capacity, She is the creation of a Malaysian inventor who wanted to bring his sister back to life in someway. Having always been a singer with dreams of her voice being heard by the masses, that's exactly what her Creator built her for, using the best parts he could find, because what he could find was better than what he could afford to buy.

The production of AI is HIGHLY Monitored, both by the government, to keep track of the populace, and the Corporations, because if an Conscient AI is in their employ, they need to treat them like a person, which they don't wanna do.

The Idol is a very sweet, optimistic, and selfless person, bearing in mind optimist doesn't equate to Naive or Innocent.

She is primarily a singer, but also plays an Electric Viola, that has keys on it like a hurdy gurdy, like most other personal Items on this list, is Custom made, and therefore very unique. It is made of scrap and thus her style is called "Scrap Punk." She is considered a "pop" star, but it's like. Weird music. Think omega-3 From Splatoon Salmon Run.

her dark-brown hair goes to her mid-back, and her skin is mostly Brown like Human malaysian people, but due to her jury-rigged Nature her Synth-Skin has blotches of lighter coloration, not unlike Vitiligo.

she has two primary outfits

Her Work Outfit: a dark blue Leotard, hot purple crop-top jacket and floofy skirt, Gunmetal grey leggings and mismatched boots. Her eyes are blue while she's on stage, and her hair is tied in twin tails using any thing she can get her hands on - Ribbon Cables, old copper wiring, Zip-ties, Etc.

Her Comfy outfit: Baggy sweater, parachute pants, no socks, hair loose, and her eyes are set to more of an Amber/Brown color.

The Idol's Rival is a short, petite - Imagine if Apple made an Android. Like Weiss but more Cutesy. She HATES the Idol, with her stupid height, dumb instrument, the fact that she's made of scrap so whenever something breaks she can just go out and find a replacement instead of waiting for days on end shut off until a replacement piece is manufactured and shipped because Idol's not a highly specialized "top-of-the-line" piece of hardware.

No, Rival isn't jealous of Idol! Idol with her stupid Grin, and infectious optimism, and gorgeous eyes, and the way she treats Rival with genuine kindness and like she's a person and not a product! Don't be ridiculous!

Rival wears her hair all bunched up in loops behind her head? It's long but always tied up. Grey eyes.

He's 5'9, barely above Mark's height, he does wear high-shoes however, but even then he's just the same height as Mark, he got into an accident on his previous ship, where he was trying to fix the engine, didn't go so well and now he has a robotic arm*

He is chaos incarnate one time, a peaceful monk the other, generally it depends on his mood, but most of the time he's calm, but doesn't like loud noises cuz a r t i s m, his special interest is g u n s and r a i l w a y s(cuz trust me if you get into railway lore, it's some intense shit)

He/him, he generally doesn't care about that kinda stuff, he mostly thinks about g u n s and r a i l

He wears overalls under his regular outfit, specifically fireman overalls, he also has a gun on him at all times, a .357 silver-frame revolver

PT161103, it refers to a railway that ran in his home city, hence PT, and 16, 11, 1903/03 is the year and day the railway opened

Before working on the invincible 2, Jeremiah worked as an engineer on an old freighter from 203X, a lumbering beast it was, the ship wasn't the best, but it did the job, said ship is said to be scrapped

Jeremiah decided to primarily plan the cities, while other people do the other things, at first he was planning to go with a 1950s-style city, reminiscent of his home, but then went with a mix of modern and 1900s style architecture,

Mark is basically Jeremiah's best friend, like, they did the dumbest things ever just because they wanted to, Celci is basically like Jeremiah and Mark's mom, always talking about 'you shouldn't do that, it's dangerous', Burt is fren, Jeremiah and Gunther sometimes go to the in-door range in the ship, Jeremiah doesn't dislike Mack, but he doesn't like him either

Jeremiah doesn't necessarily have a favourite ego

Probably an engineer, since he did that before the Invincible 2

The main things he'd bring, are: A book about PKW(Piotrków Narrow Gauge Railway, he comes from the city where the railway existed-), a Deagle carbine in .50 AE (and yes that is a thing, it's basically just a Deagle, but with a stock, longer barrel and select fire-), a tablet, phone, and laptop, he uses the laptop and tablet to make city plans, as well as a percussion-cap pistol

He'd try to tell them how to use guns but stutter and struggle to explain what he means lol

Jeremiah can speak 2 languages, Polish being his native one, and English being his secondary
