what iconography (symbols/images/motifs/etc.) do you associate with your character and why? how do you portray this in your writing?
fire : the smoke, the power, the light from it. i try to use a lot of fire imagery in my posts because that represents alina. the first and most obvious sign of it is her temper. alina has such a bad temper paired with a destructive personality.  she’s just so full of anger, at hydra, at shield, at herself, at everyone. if alina was ever adapted into a movie character one of the most important things i’d want the writers to do is to show that she’s someone who is angry at the state of the world. but there is also a cleansing aspect to fire that draws alina to it. alina constantly wants to change her identity, to burn away what doesn’t work and become a new better person. a lot of her attraction to fire is due , of course, the danger of it, but alina has burnt things that she felt were holding her back such as old uniforms and journals because she hopes it will somehow ‘fix her’. my favorite thing about writing alina is just how passionate she is and fire best emulates that. she’s this kind and passionate, but destructive girl and if she could she’d light everything she owned on fire in order to start over again.
water / the sea : there’s this lostness and mystery to the sea that makes me associate it with alina. as stated with fire, alina hopes to change and reinvent herself and eventually become a person she likes. just as alina wants to burn everything and hope a better version of her comes out. not to make alina sound like your typical edgy teen, but she’s just a girl who feels like she doesn’t know her place in the world and wants to find it. the sea is unknowable and that’s how alina appears to herself and to others. when alina disappears you’ll often find her near large bodies of water or large cities. she likes the idea of her just spending her life forever exploring and water gives her that. if she could she would submerge herself in the ocean and not come up until she felt like she could handle the land again. again, there’s an element of cleansing and rebirth that i think follows alina around.
neon lights : you see this all the time in my blog. one cool thing about alina’s aesthetic is that there’s this mysticism to her ( her magical powers, her empathy, her seeing abilities ) but also a vigilante style to this character ( her desire to right wrongs, her distrust of government, etc ). i think neon lights emphasizes that about that her character. there’s something about a flickering neon sign at midnight that reminds me of alina.
masks : alina likes to wear masks. not just for the utility of it, but because she can hide herself. when she’s wearing a mask she feels like she’s nobody and that she’s a different person or at least can pretend to be one. there’s also the intimidation factor, alina’s not a physically intimidating person; she’s a small teenage girl who is mostly eyes, hair, and dimples. when she wears a mask she feels like she’s hardening herself and she relishes being seen as an imposing figure. when alina wears a mask, you can’t see if she’s terrified or if she’s scared and as someone who’s been accused of wearing her emotions on her face alina likes that.
night-time / the stars : i think two of my tags have to do with stars ( what do the stars wish for / a softer beginning / a kinder end. ) the first reason i associate alina with the night time is because of her witchy abilities, as magic is generally associated with night time and alina isn’t an exception to that. alina’s just as much of a vigilante as she is a classic superhero and she does that work at night. when it gets dark alina can be a different person who nobody knows. however, there’s a vulnerability to the night that fits alina well, both her own vulnerability and others. alina’s a girl who can feel emotions like they’re her own and can see glimpses of the past and future and at night, when people are most open and vulnerable, alina can feel that too. there’s a lot of prose about how the moon and stars feel your suffering and wishes they can help you and alina relates to that. there’s also the vastness of the sky that appeals to alina. as stated before, alina is drawn to vast unknowable places, places where she could get lost.

When looked at in detail, 'Beneath the Mask' is actually quite a depressing song. It seems like it's being sung from Joker's perspective, basically saying he's unable to live his life without the ability to hide his true self.
This one line spoken by Joker in the manga anthology can hit a little too close to home for some.Joker: Give them one reason to distrust you, and it's all over. That's how it is, especially with adults.
tv t-ropes was a mistake.

the  amount  of  times  hayden  said   ‘   send  him  back   ‘   is  honestly  breaking  my  heart  to  think  about.      she’s  ????    so  scared  and  messed  up  about  it.      and  even  though  she  didn’t  spend  a  lot  of  time  with  the  chimera  pack,      she  definitely  cared  about  the  betas  who  died    (    more  than  tracy  cared  about  her  ofc  but  !!   )      and  she  knew  she  was  in  danger  if  she  would  have  stayed  in  theo’s  pack  because  she  could  have  reached  the  same  fate  as  them.        she’s  worried  that  bringing  him  back  will  be  worse  for  them  and  she’s  worried  that  they  should  have  discussed  this  with  the  rest  of  the  pack.
i’m  going  to   rewatch  the  episode  in  a  bit  then  probably  write  out  more  about  her  headspace  when  seeing  theo  again  because  that  was  so  important  to  me  and  i’m  really  excited  about  it!!

META NOTES.
✱  as venom it is important to note that they heavily rely on their sense of smell , hearing and touch.  this is do to the fact the symbiote’s retinas are detached , meaning they are blind but not fully.  venom is partially blind as they are still able to see some distinguishable shapes although it’s blurry to them.  because of this handicap venom keeps low to the ground , preferring to maneuver on all fours sensing for any vibrations.  as well the reason for their uncanny need to taste / lick people.
✱  eddie doesn’t have a particular taste in food , but when it comes to the symbiote it does.  the symbiote has an unsavory bias for meat products whether it be cooked or raw.  the symbiote’s stomach structure is similar to that of scavenger family of animals like: hyenas , vultures and sharks. meaning they will eat anything even down to the bone , often leading to unfavorable side - effects for eddie.  this doesn’t mean the symbiote won’t eat meals that contain greenery because they will , just don’t expect them to be quiet about it.
✱ do not underestimate eddie , he may not be as monstrous looking as his partner but he is certainly a force of reckoning.  due to losing his symbiotic partner multiple times eddie had to train himself to be able to fight back.  he learned quickly some self - defense techniques , how to properly wield and use a gun , as well picked up a few dirty tricks from being in prison.  although if power can not save him from danger then surely his mind can.  eddie is quick - witted and crafty , ready to hatch a plan and use the environment around him.

anyways I'm here to give a small post on how the fame of the Phantom Thieves does get to Tadashi's head. Especially around the time of the Medjed defeat. He loves the popularity and the recognition they get for being heroes of justice! And more importantly the praise! The praise for his justice where it was never prasied before! He loves that people are waking up to the wrongs in the world and he loves that every day their approval raiting boosted!
To the point where he gets a bit blinded and can't see that Morgana is hurting or that the Okumura case seems a bit fishy. But when Morgana leaves & the Okumura case turns out to be a trap he wakes up and realizes that it's not what other people thinks of him that matters. All that matters is his justice & being true to himself and all that. It also ties in bits and bits to his anger issues. But that's all topics for another day!
