jesse—or rather caleb— watched her approach, the sway in her walk casual, confident. her words were sharp, but he could see the glint of curiosity behind her eyes. he knew women like her—strong, sure of themselves, used to being in control. but there was something else about sawyer that made him feel… exposed. like she could see through the mask he wore. that thought unsettled him more than he cared to admit. as she tossed her words at him, dismissing his warning about being out here alone, jesse fought the urge to smile. stubborn, like he’d expected. still, hearing her call him sir made something in him stir, and he hated it.hated that this girl—this woman—could so easily unravel the walls he’d built around himself. when she offered the flask, a playful smirk tugging at her lips, he hesitated. he didn't drink much anymore; not since he learned that a clear head kept the ghosts at bay. but there she was, standing in front of him, eyes gleaming with mischief, and it was hard to say no. "rum, huh?" he said, his voice low, as he wiped his hands one more time, stalling. he could feel the tension pulling tighter between them, the way it always did when she was close. maybe it was the way she looked at him, like she wanted to figure him out, peel away the layers he'd spent years hiding behind. or maybe it was the fact that she was doing exactly what he told himself he couldn’t—getting under his skin.

he reached out, his rough fingers brushing against hers as he took the flask. for a brief second, the warmth of her hand lingered on his skin, and it unnerved him. the old jesse—the one who lived before vengeance poisoned his heart—might’ve flirted back, might’ve even let himself fall into her easy, teasing rhythm. but that jesse was long gone. taking a swig of the rum, he let the burn settle in his throat. his eyes, dark and unreadable, locked with hers. “i ain’t one for overdo'in it,” he finally said, handing the flask back. “but i appreciate the concern.” she wasn’t just offering him a drink, though. he could see that. no, this was her trying to dig deeper, to pry open the part of him that he kept hidden from the world. she was sharp, no doubt about it. "you don’t seem like the type to worry about a ranch hand," he said, voice soft but probing. his smile was there, that slow, practiced grin he gave when he didn’t want people to dig too deep.

Romance blossoms between them as they get the bookstore back into fighting shape, but when family drama threatens the bookstore's longevity, the two women team up to prevent its closure.

Rachel Gogel is a Parisian creative director, designer, educator, and speaker based in San Francisco, California. Currently, she runs her own independent consultancy practice as a solopreneur where her approach is informed by experiences both in-house and agency side. As a fractional design executive and queer leader, Rachel believes in fostering inclusive spaces that unlock human potential. Specifically, she is committed to designing teams that build brands — with a focus on culture and technology. Dirty Three — Love Changes Everything (Drag City)

If the title of this new Dirty Three album immediately conjures memories of the 1987 soft-pop single by Climie Fisher, fret ye not — Warren Ellis, Mick Turner and Jim White are sounding as raw and elemental as ever. It may be over a decade since their last album, 2012’s Toward the Low Sun, but each member of the band has been plenty busy in the interim. Ellis has been playing with the Bad Seeds and working on soundtracks with Nick Cave. Mick Turner has started a fantastic new band called Mess Esque. And Jim White has been playing with Marisa Anderson, Beings, Jess Ribeiro and Xylouris White. However, as soon as these three men come together, they bring their collective experience and intuitive interplay to bear.

“I” is a summoning, an explosive reunion, in which the three players jab and jostle loosely, testing the boundaries of their long-standing relationship. Turner’s guitar simmers with distortion and feedback, White threatens to play like a conventional rock drummer, and Ellis saws his way into the picture with his trademark searing, yearning tone. Then, in a sudden left-turn, “II” feels like some grave news has been unexpectedly delivered, its plaintive piano chords like eyebrows raised in concern. “III” carries the album to its midway point with an anxious, keening whine of violin and the insistent tick of hi-hats, while the piano tries to bring some sense of resolve. The guitar and violin tentatively circle each other, proposing and re-proposing a middle ground, only for the piece to gradually disassemble into silence.

“IV” is built around Turner’s eerie waltz-time guitar and Ellis’s ghostly violin scrapes, White offering up gentle washes of cymbal. It rarely raises above a whisper, but amounts to one of the most affecting stretches of music on the album. “V” opens in a similar vein to “III,” with White’s insistent hi-hat, then Ellis picks up the thread with a pizzicato figure and Turner lazily strums a couple of open-ended chords. Ellis kicks in his distortion pedal, White ups the density of his playing, and all three players are soon matching each other’s fire, only for the piece to ebb away in its closing moments.

Thankfully, “VI,” the 10-minute closer, provides a satisfying though slow-burning pay-off. It emerges from a snaking whorl of violin loops, the guitar and piano each staking a claim towards establishing a defining theme. At various points during the second half, the music threatens to take off into a more fiery, chaotic realm, only to recede into questioning placidity. Much like the rest of the music on this album, it goes nowhere and everywhere all at once, creating and re-creating a space that feels intimidatingly boundless.

it’s like the guy’s radioactive.    whenever he’s in the cottage common room, there’s a four-foot circle of  EMPTY SPACE  around him, everyone keeping their distance like they’ll die if they get too close. not even margo knows what his deal is, though she’s got a DOZEN theories and even more rumours, each one dumber than the last. apparently the kid’s scary. it’s fuckin’ ridiculous. the snippets he’s caught of jesse’s thoughts don’t sound scary. third time this week that penny’s stopped by and seen him in his FEAR-MADE bubble, and he snaps. he can sit where he damn well wants to   ---   and today, that’s right next to the infamous,  t e r r i f y i n g  jesse fucking turner.

Oh I love this one!!

5. Return of Jesse Turner and Jacob Pond. These two had so much promise and were pilot threads that were abandoned for no reason. Jesse Turner is the proto Jack: bringing him back would fulfill this role or give jack and kindred spirit, and would also show an understanding of show continuity. Jacob Pond is the proto Cole, and could’ve been much better suited for that storyline. Plus, we couldn’t had some consequences coming back to bite them.

4. Cas’ waning powers/the Heaven situation. The set up was heavily pushed in early s15, and we got a lot of angel politics in the seasons directly leading to the final season. Instead, we never follow up on what exactly is happening to Cas (although we got a lot of time on it) and we never get to see what happens to the angels, even though we got years of development.

3. Revealing supernatural to the world. I think s15 should’ve ended with a huge, universe altering change that would’ve been felt by everyone in the story universe. For me, what best fits this role is a reveal of the supernatural to the world at large. This changes the shows premise entirely, gets rid of hunger culture, and gives Sam and Dean an end to their duties. I think this could’ve been a really effective conclusion.

2. Sam’s Powers. These were too important to just drop and never bring back again. Like, you establish early on that a protagonist is psychic and just never come back to again? Baffling. This storyline was so good and so interesting and I wish, even if it had to be written out, that we got some sort of conclusive explanation for why it was gone.

1. The God Bullet Wound. This is my brand. This is what I’ve been pushing for since I made this blog. This would’ve been SO perfect to explore and deal with, and folding in a now antagonist god with the return of Sam’s “special connections” that gave him powers is a perfect way to combine classic and modern spn and end it with a bang. This would’ve satisfied so many narrative threads and I think could’ve done something interesting with Sam’s overall journey specifically. I think leaning into this also could’ve dealt with the rest of the issues on this list so it’s a win/win.

Greece is one of the world’s most seismically active countries.

Fortunately, most Greek earthquakes are relatively mild but there is always the potential for more severe seismic activity. Greek builders are aware of this and modern Greek buildings are built to be safe during earthquakes. Similar quakes often strike nearby Turkey and result in much more extensive damage and injuries due to less-strict building codes.

But this Greece trip..is about to be hit.

Breaking news! Late this evening (Wednesday June 20th), disaster struck when an earthquake hit Santorini, Greece. It was registered as a 5.9, luckily not causing much damage but it did cause a massive blackout in the Adamant Suites.

During this blackout, the resort will have no electricity from 8 PM-3 AM as workers work around the clock to make sure things are up and running. They will be required to stay in and around the resort until the power is fixed.

We have assigned random pairings/groups and it is mandatory that you do a thread/para/chatzy with your assigned partners. It can be anything you want! Go crazy, get creative, but this is meant to be fun and we hope you have a good time collaborating with your fellow members. Whoever you are assigned to, that is who you are near once the blackout hits. Have fun explaining why. ;) Please remember to tag the main in your thread so we can see you did it!

I am often hesitant to post things because I am worried about being “annoying” here on my own blog which is nothing more or less than a box full of stuff I like, and that’s ridiculous, I will be annoying if I wish

and I sure do have 20 pages of notes on my spn everybody lives family fic so.  buckle the fuck up

the premise began with this idea:

Spn AU of the day: everything is almost the same but Sam and Dean have been collecting orphans like they’re Batman since at least s5 

then I spent several days thinking about this quietly in a corner at work while cutting out paper hearts for a valentine’s day craft and I messaged a bunch of stuff to my friend who does not spn at all except to enable my AU shenanigans and what became clear to me is

Every single stupid plot on this show is improved by adding half a dozen adopted children

So as you may or may not recall, Jesse is the half demon antichrist child from 1 episode of season 5

As the writers of spn undoubtedly were aware, it would fuck up the plot of s5 royally to have a being this powerful in the mix, so they removed him from play

I did this entire twitter thread about how jesse turner could reconnect with dean in the interim of seasons 5 and 6 and you can read that here

so let’s move right straight on to season 7.  we gotta get to the good stuff

in canon, Cas is Officially Dead, while Dean & Sam are on the run from leviathans

Jesse gets some of his powers back bc I think he should and I don’t want to wait til s11 or whenever Lucifer gets out of hell properly. My handwave is that Sam’s escape from hell brings a fragment of Lucifer’s power to earth and thus restored a fragment of jesse’s powers

Jesse starts to realize the firebending is back on but doesn’t tell Dean & Sam bc he doesn’t want to worry them…

but then they meet (& kill) Sam’s childhood friend Amy

And Jesse is like “hahaha NO we are not killing this random lady, idc if she’s a monster, she has a kid to take care of” and just sorta. Unkills her

And of course doesn’t mention it at first

until a couple weeks later when Sam finds out Dean killed amy (he did it behind sams back) and they’re arguing abt it

and Jesse is like GUYS ITS FINE she’s not really dead.

So Dean and Sam are now freaking out that a. Jesse has powers again, b. Jesse can bring people back from the dead which never ends well, and c. Sam’s friend, whom Dean considers a dangerous monster, is alive.

Sam is like yah peace out guys I’m going to visit Amy to make sure she’s ok and Dean you are NOT invited

He eventually makes up with dean at jesse’s insistence but stays in touch with Amy which dean decides to tolerate on the premise that Sam is “keeping an eye on her”

bc Dean rewrites reality in his own head to suit his narrative and that’s never failed him before!

And Jesse becomes friends with Amy’s son Jacob

Jesse has some Mommy Issues on account of that time he found out his biological mother was possessed by a demon when she gave birth to him. So he’s like “no we do not kill ppls moms!!!”

as long as we’re here in early season 7 with this episode where Jo comes back as a ghost... I see no reason why Jesse can’t simply resurrect Jo too

sure is handy to have a kid around who can alter the fabric of reality!  hope that doesn’t backfire...

& just to add, bc I feel weird not talking about cas very much, jesse and cas had a few opportunities to chat during season 6 and have mostly moved past the “you tried to kill me so I turned you into an action figure” thing but jesse is not super thrilled about the “you lied to my dad who loves you very much” thing now
