Omg thoughts on the “best friends to lovers” trope with Henry

bittersweet. being best friends with him would pose such a great challenge in the first place. for it to be more or less sturdy, you would have to have known him for a long time. i'm talking pages upon pages of history — rooting as far as back as his childhood or early adolescence, i'd say. that may be the only way to find oneself in the role of his best friend. but even then — scarcely. barely. minimally.

he doesn't exactly associate himself much with people who aren't versed in his area of expertise, those who don't understand him — he rarely ever acknowledges someone like that, even. therefore, you'd need to know and comprehend his interests very well, concerningly well. in short, you would need to check many boxes. were that to be achieved, however, i don't exclude the possibility of further development taking place in regard to your relationship.

despite his being so intensely focused on aesthetics, i feel like the engrained and conditioned little inkling of finding someone for oneself would nevertheless linger in some obscure, hidden part of his mind. thus, if you were right there — someone he has known for the longest time and can therefore trust completely, someone who understands and reproduces his affectations, someone who's clearly devoted to his attentions — he would, at some point, indulge in the possibility of winning you over. he wouldn't see it as a challenge per se, but it would certainly pose a thrill — and the triumph he would perceive at the end, upon having managed to secure your affection, would be vast.

i believe he may be able to develop a feeling similar to love under the right circumstances, and when it'd come to you, i'm sure it wouldn't be all too difficult. admittedly, it would be a slinking, slow process — and yet, it'd pay off in the end. your affinity would be one to admire. romantically involved with someone already so committedly devoted and entrusted to you — a great marvel, and an outspoken rarity.

you know what gets me going? ninja kiba being forcefully separated from you (by the opposing forces/people you’re fighting ofc) and him snarling and just. obliterating them. he’s fought, he’s seen war, but this is different. it’s you. and by god he won’t let you be taken from him — never

oh my gosh, he’s already ready to kill and risk, sometimes even foolishly give his own life for his comrades and friends and country, but for you he’s literally ready to burn the entire world down to fucking ashes.

now i’m just imagining him all bloody and barely sane when he finally makes his way to you and just sags against you. like, the exhaustion, the trauma, the worry, the fear hits him all at once only when he’s next to you and when he can feel the warmth of your face under his hands and it just breaks him.

the entire flood of emotions that he feels so strongly just burns him out.

and i feel like if that ever happened, he’d have heavy PTSD and extreme separation anxiety. for a guy that was once so persistent on being independent, he’d be following you like a shadow all of a sudden. he’d want to shower together and eat together and sleep together... actually, he’d barely sleep at all; he’d just lay next to you, making sure you’re safe, constantly on high alert. it’d cause him to become a mere shell of his former self before he’d slowly start to heal. poor boy! :(

but i really do think that he’d turn into an actual guard dog of sorts. kind of scary if the wrong interaction happens with someone other than you. after all, he’s unpredictable and short-tempered as it is, and i feel like the smallest thing would make him snap after experiencing a forced separation!

Arrrrrrgh this actually fits pretty well. With the whole compliant/defiant dichotomy they have (really interesting that the protagonist of a project named after the Milgram experiments has compliant as a major character trait). This would totally feed into the projection and self hatred particularly on Amane's side. Aaahhhh

the reason why transfem elias is my favourite theory for gwendolyn is because think about the implications.

so let’s say this alternate universe reveals that elias is actually transgender, and would present/identify as female if they had the opportunity to figure themself out and transition (elias was reportedly very young when jonah possessed them)

then the idea that in the tma universe they not only didn’t live long enough to do that, but THEIR BODY WAS TAKEN OVER BY SOMEONE ELSE WHO THEN PRESENTED IN A MASCULINE WAY AND LIVED AS A MAN USING THEIR FACE AND BODY FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS?!? FUCKING TERRIFYING

as a trans person myself, even though the real elias was dead the dysphoria that idea gives me is absolutely unreal, and really creeps into serious body/existential horror territory which i think would be really interesting and very in-character for a writer like jonny to explore.

Combining the boys’ abilities (and I mean actual combining not just using them at the same time) because I was thinking about it and wow they’re kinda cracked actually-

Raph & Mikey: infinite clones (aka unbeatable) + strength completely unparalleled + infinite cloned chains + the clones are very fast and can fly + potentially reverse any damage on main shield clones or even damage in general

Mikey & Donnie: constructs that also can last much longer than usual possibly forever + potential future vision + every single cable or wire or anything of that sort has the potential to be taken over akin to Mikey’s chains + full telekinesis

Donnie & Leo: pinpoint portal/teleportation themselves or constructs just by knowing where to aim (aka instadeath for any enemy if used right) + telepathy

Leo & Raph: teleporting clones who can grow or shrink at will (which can also be instadeath like above if used right) + said clones can also act as homing spots to switch places with + potentially swap damage taken to clones

Raph & Donnie: they literally can make Voltron, but more than one + basically impossible to destroy shields + constructs can also be cloned

Mikey & Leo: freezing time and being able to move during it + heat death of the universe + “oops hey it’s other alternate iterations of us???” + this is a time and space team up you’re not winning this-

Basically any combo is an instant “you win.” I wanna go further into these combos later and maybe even add or subtract as I think more on it because there’s so many I left out and I can always extrapolate on and explain these ones more, but this was fun and these boys have terrifying powers even without combining them all together.

Seriously, should each of them train these abilities to the best they can be, there is no beating them even if they’re alone.
