LIKE. IDK IT WAS FUNNIER IN MY HEAD. SO EITHER 1. Some otherworldly being (a fanfic writer) manipulated them and the world around them. Making them be together. But now the writer is gone after giving them their happily ever after.. But the characters revert back to how they were in cannon. Vaigely knowing what allowed them to get to this point, but not really understanding anymore how or why?

Or 2. Optimus forgot and wants Megatron's pov on how they got together. Either way, I know that even if you write little for this, it will still be hella entertaining :3

"Wake up" Megatron felt someone flicking at his nose and then shaking him when the action gave no response.

"Wake up!" This time that someone went for the helm, the bang of the collision rang in the otherwise quiet room.

"What?" Megatron opened one optic and glared at his disturber, Optimus Prime.

"How did we end up together?" He asked with an almost accusing expression

"Huh?" What did he even mean by that

"You heard me" Optimus scoffed

"What like... you don't remember?" He started going back with his own memory banks and backups, He would have been more worried about Optimus apparent amnesia if he weren't struggling to find an answer to that absurd question.

"Do you?" Optimus crossed his arms

Megatron stayed silent for a while... he couldn't pinpoint the exact moment they had become a thing. Centuries, no, millennia of circling around one another after signing the peace treaty, spending more and more time together, fighting, bantering, provoking each other, speaking about personal topics, binding while annoying each other to death had, at some point, led them to fall in berth together.

They had kept falling into each other's berth since then... and now they were here.

So there wasn't really an answer to that question, not a typical one at least.

Megatron cleared his vocalizer "I... I guess it just happened" he answered at last.

Optimus seemed to reflect on this answer before humming "are you happy with this?"

Megatron though about it, he really was, sure there were invisible limits they never actually crossed but at this point they lived like a conjunx couple, minus the status and the spark merging... but Meagtron found the though of Sharing his spark with Optimus not to be as dreaded as he anticipated... he almost- longed for it.

"Yeah..." he said smiling softly and bringing the smaller mech closer to him "a lot" and his servos started shifting over his lover's frame delicately almost in worship.

"Do you want more?" The question could be interpreted in two different ways and Megatron wanted to answer yes to both.

"When it comes to you I always want more" he answered looking at Optimus, his lover's gaze was so bright and full of love he felt like it would melt the metal of his frame.

"I... also want more. Everything." he whispered with his lips ghosting over Megatron's.

Megatron closed the distance between them and kissed him. "And you will receive it"

Idk, Remus was this kid who knew nothing but prejudice and isolation before Hogwarts, my lukewarm take is not that he was in with the prank nor that Sirius broke his heart and trust forever for revealing his secret.

I think young and dumb teenage Remus, riding the high of his young and dumb friends already overlooking the gravity of his condition by hanging out with him as animals, was dumbfounded by the fact that someone thought little of his condition to think the whole thing would be a funny prank. Maybe, in a backwards way to process the whole thing, he also chose to believe it was just that.

Deep down I’d guess the self-hatred only grew, and the same way Snape was scared of him, he was scared of Snape - in SWM, he’s not just ignoring James and Sirius tormenting Snape, he’s paralysed). SWM has got to be after the prank, since he was still talking to Lily when it happened.

I think adult Remus sees things differently, the thing about the prank discourse is there is no resolution. Would Remus ever have apologised sincerely, for dismissing Snape’s pain to defend his friends? Would Snape ever have accepted his apology? Can we admit that, tho Snape was undeniably a victim, he also fostered an unfair bias towards werewolves that can also justify Remus’s bitterness (a bitterness that he’ll forever try to hide).

Idk, just rambling. I’ll be a minority here, defending Lupin, but could be worse, I could be defending Sirius.

i'm not sure i back this - although you and i are certainly aligned on not thinking that the prank ruins lupin's relationship with sirius.

i just think that the idea that he was afraid of snape - even if only as a teenager - doesn't really stand up. my reading - not only of snape's worst memory but of lupin's assessment of his youth in prisoner of azkaban - is that his self-loathing is connected to two divergent things: the first, that he likes james and sirius' cruelty, recklessness, and danger - and the fact that they go out of their way [literally becoming animagi!] in order to allow him to participate in this - and is ashamed of himself as an adult [after 1981, when james' recklessness gets him killed] for this; the second, that he dislikes james and sirius' cruelty, recklessness, and danger, but is ashamed of himself for never confronting them over their excesses [worried as he is - i think there's a strong case to be made from canon - that james, the man he thinks of as his best friend in the whole world, would side with sirius against him].

he behaves the way he does in snape's worst memory because his friends are - as harry puts it - humiliating someone in the middle of a crowd of onlookers for absolutely no reason. the decent thing to do in such a situation is to try and stop them - but that requires a willingness to risk the ire of one's friends which someone with lupin's life experience [the isolation of his youth making him desperate to cling to any friendship he's offered, no matter how unsuitable - which is very like snape...] doesn't have.

i don't think - to be clear - that lupin's actions are unforgivable. indeed, i think far more of us would behave like him in an equivalent situation than we'd like to admit, and that's something always worth being aware of. but i think that the other side of that coin is that it's fine to state frankly that he acts like a coward when it comes to snape's worst memory. there doesn't need to be a deeper interpretation of his behaviour which makes him appear more sympathetic - he's frozen because unfreezing would mean having to involve himself against james and sirius. and that's something he simply doesn't want to do.

i'm also unconvinced that snape's attitude towards werewolves is unfair. it's striking in prisoner of azkaban that - while snape is terrified of lupin due to his lycanthropy - his primary concern is that lupin is aiding and abetting sirius [who he believes is the death eater who sent voldemort to kill lily - there is no suggestion whatsoever that he knew wormtail was the real traitor] while in human form. he leverages social prejudice in order to bring about lupin's dismissal from his job - since dumbledore doesn't take his concerns about human!lupin seriously - sure... but one of the circles the canon text's worldbuilding never fully squares is that this social prejudice is... completely legit.

lupin is the series' one "good werewolf" - who embraces the "civilising" influence of the wizarding world's social conventions, and is the only werewolf in the series harry, from whose perspective the narrative is written, likes - and so the prejudice he experiences is something the text views as cruel. the prejudice experienced by werewolves like fenrir greyback, on the other hand, is something the text sets up as entirely justifiable. after all, werewolves are dangerous and the mechanisms which exist to reduce that danger are relatively new [lupin says in prisoner of azkaban that the wolfsbane potion is a "very recent discovery"] - being afraid of them is an entirely sensible position, even if one has never almost eaten you.

[which is why jkr's lycanthropy-as-aids metaphor is complete and utter bullshit - and is one of the long list of things she ought to have shut her mouth about.]

Can i vent a little here about the new Helluva ep? It seems to be well-received overall, but some people are being really harsh on it imo

I agree that the episode had pacing issues, but i dont think theyre worse than Seeing Stars. There was still a little room to breathe here

I also agree that the a and b plots felt kinda disconnected, though if nothing else i still think the b-plot gave Blitz a good justification for not coming to save Stolas.

Ive seen criticism of Striker as ooc, which i dont get at all. You could tell from his first episode that he was a petty, self-aggrandizing jerk who gets irritated when people get the better of him. Western Energy didnt let him have as much dignity as Harvest Moon, because it showed of those traits more. It seems to me to be what people actually dislike, Helluva wouldnt let Striker stay ‘cool’.

But HB doesnt treat any character like that, no one is exempt from being made fun of. Its actually an aspect i appreciate about the show. i think it ironically enough makes the characters more likable

I dont think this ep is perfect, but there’s still a lot to like, im kinda baffled why its getting ripped into this way 😕

I mean, everyone's allowed to have an opinion. Idk if the ep deserves anything incredibly harsh, however. I do agree with a lot of the grievances surrounding the ep, especially with the B-plot and the pacing. I feel like we didn't really need to follow inside the hospital, but it was a little neat seeing the baphomets and the style of Sloth.

Overall, I don't really see what the benefit would be to focus on Striker. It would just be torture porn of Stolas and maybe Stolas saying the same little quips. It'd just be repetitive.

I mean, Western Energy def doesn't hold a candle to Harvest Moon. But, at the end of the day, Helluva Boss is a dark comedy first and foremost. Even dramas have moments of levity in them. I guess it's safe to say that this ep is going to be a mixed bag for everyone. The harshness is a bit much tho.

I just wanted Striker and I got my wish. Plus, I tend to ready myself for something to be slightly disappointing, even if it's something I'm hyped for. Felt the same with stuff like Spiderverse or Puss in Boots and it's probably not gonna change. In my eyes, you can't be disappointed if you're expecting disappointment. Yes, it's an incredibly low bar, but it helps judge something as is rather what it could be.

Lindsay (mod win): this may come as a shock to you, but my favorite ILW LI is Lincoln. I love the romantic and sexual tension of a good slow burn, and I love the whole trope of being the one to get past the LI’s protective layers. If I could choose anyone for myself out of the whole It Lives universe though... idk actually. All I know is love Lincoln & eat hot chip.

Maggie: also unsurprisingly, my favorite LI of the four is Abel. If I could choose anyone to be with irl tho? It would probably be a toss up between Connor and Abel. Hot, loyal, funny, and good boyfriend material. They tick all my boxes.

M: you know, I don't really have a favourite LI for myself, per se. Sometimes I see characters as people I like or dislike, and sometimes I see them as plot devices, which is definitely the case here. Not that that's a bad thing—a character, in its barest form, is a plot device—but I don't really think so much about who I'd want to hang out with/date as much as I think about what they contribute to the narrative, how they'll influence the protagonist's arc, etc. That being said, my favourite is Matthias. (Go ahead, guess why ;)) But also I would absolutely date my little rat gremlin Noah.

Aku: Jocelyn. I just love big strong women who would kill for me 🥺💜 Also, I don't actually see myself romantically with anyone from the ILA universe, but if speaking platonically, then I would choose Imogen. She's such a sweet and caring girl I'd love to be with her 🥰

Shionch: I love Lincoln, he's my main LI and seeing him smile melts my heart, although irl I'd probably go after Amalia because our values align and I'm a sucker for beautiful women.

Hashie: I have a thing for men with facial hair, so Lincoln (and his dad) would be my main LI in ILW. His personality is also a bonus point. I’m not sure about irl but if i have to pick one, then it would probably be Linky too. We both share interest in art, and I adore his unconventional ways of showing his love.

Eri: As Amalia's head writer, the favoritism is really strong. Like a mother incapable of seeing her child lesser than or even on the same caliber as another, I'm incapable of making an mc that's not romancing her lol. That said the other writers have created MAGNIFICENT routes for the other lis and I must play them at some point. Irl I'd most likely date Abel, he's exactly my type

Alex: if you’re not aware, i’m the biggest jocelyn simp known to mankind, so i’d have to choose her. being one of her head writers has really made me fall in love with her. hot buff himbo women just do something to me. as for irl, i think i would still say jocelyn. i just have such a strong attachment to her and the way we’ve written her just can’t be matched imo.

SUGAR: this is a hard question. my main Li is Abel as of right now, for pretty much everything abt him, going from his looks to his height, to his intentionality with being a part of his culture, his nerdiness and how he speaks abt thing he cares for; he’s perfect for my mc as well! for ME though, (very hard) i’d say tom is my #1. for many reasons, but the main reason why is bc tom is closer to me in age, thus allowing for our relationship defining interests to be closer aligned <3

it's not my preferred method of dealing with the conflict but im not as mad at it as i feared i might be with an ep 11 ending. it at the very least isn't going to sour the series for me (most likely, we still have to give ep 12 her chance obvs) and i understand most of the thought process.

BUT i understand you not feeling it so i'm here with a distraction. now that jimmysea are the it-girl of the month and i think we can assume them getting a new series has a good likely hood: what type of show would you most like to see them tackle?

personally i'd love to see them in a period piece. i just think they have the longing down so perfectly and their outfits in ep 8 were a true inspiration on many fronts. OR something supernatural since we're giving those away in 2024 anyway.

I HAVE SO MANY KIND OF SHOWS I WANT TO SEE JIMMYSEA STAR IN THO IT'S SO HARD TO PICK ONLY ONE GENRE!!!!!!! part of me really wants that teacher x single parent romcom to happen because i NEED to see more of them with kids, but at the same time i would love to have them play in something more challenging and completely different like a thriller. im kinda obsessed with the idea of jimmy being the witness of a murder and having to be put under protection until the trial and sea being one of the police officer assigned to keep him safe OR something like the fugitive with sea being framed for a murder he did not commit and managing to escape while being taken to prison and jimmy being one of the correction officers who was on the bus and who ends up being taken 'hostage' by sea but eventually helps him prove his innocence

but also i would LOVE an historical setting for them because like you said they are SOOOO GOOD at longing and pining and restraint and subtle touches that carry so much weight and i need more of that too!!!!!! also the medical drama of my dreams!!!!!! or a good horror!!!!!! i think this article has a lot of important things to say but does a bad job of saying them

I think something I find very weird about this article is the fact that its titled the way it is. like why is AJN in the title? It’s clickbaity and a little unprofessional. And I don’t even disagree with 99% of what it’s saying, the likelihood that 90% of the story is true is quite high. However, there are so few sources that can actually be traced back. There’s some very unneeded speculation. Alexander J Newall being targeted only in the title with nothing in the article really blaming him for anything is just weird. he's the ceo, yes, but you have placed your (named) blame within the article almost entirely on this one callum dougherty.

The fact that it was retweeted by a former TMA voice actor is pretty compelling. And the fact that former people who worked with Rusty Quill whether as volunteers or staff can attest to their poor communication. And bad practices in general. I mean I pretty much do believe a lot of it. Just I find the lack of concrete evidence within the article and the lack of good journalistic practice to detract a lot from the message of the article.

Also names of characters in TMA as pseudonyms feels very unserious. When I reached the bit that was talking about Georgie and Melanie I was like come on please be for real. like this is serious business😭. also I’m seeing the author does a freelancing work with another podcasting company and it’s been argued that they were only freelancing so it’s not that big of a deal. But I don’t know I don’t like that.

Either way the people we really need to think about other people affected by rqs bad practices. I think it really is just incompetence. But they could really really really do better. Also the fact of the author is blocking anyone with any criticism on Twitter??? I don’t think that proves anything other than that they do not know how to make their article look good. That coupled with the weird journalistic choices and the caption they put on their Twitter ("make your statement face your fear" LMFAO?! how unnecessary! again, be serious!) it really does make them look less credible even though in reality the article has legs.

Speculation and the clickbaity title and the lack of concrete sources and twitter caption and the author whose freelance work may or may not be relevant to disclose in an article about their ex-clients competition and the substitution of anonymous names with characters from the Magnus archives. They all paint a picture of a very inexperienced writer whose work amounts mostly to an opinion piece. However I am inclined to believe the allegations made in said article for the reason that there have been a lot of people who previously worked with rusty quill saying the same thing. or mostly the same thing. I just think this article uncovered very little new information and something about it seems mean-spirited, almost as if it was for something that isn’t just the betterment of the affected peoples conditions. But that’s just speculation 😛and honestly just my feelings, not backed up by anything. For me this is more an exercise in analysing an article in general than it is analysing the situation at hand. TK slams his glass of water down so hard onto the table that it sloshes out. The kitten is big mad. His brag about saving someone from the Crysler Building, lol okay sweetheart we see you. You're mad but you also want Carlos to think you're impressive, and relatable tbh, Carlos is a snack and a half and I would also want him to like me. Carlos's "if I was a less secure MAN" and the face he makes idk that's just so funny to me but also so stupidly sexy. And also fascinating because Carlos is kind of not a super secure man? Like in some ways he is, he's very confident and direct, but also he's so hung up on the fact that he thinks his dad thinks he's soft, right. Like he doesn't think his father thinks he's good enough, or tough enough or manly enough, and he lowkey thinks Gabriel thinks that because Carlos is gay, and that's kind of a massive issue for him. I guess probably the show didn't know that at this time, it's such an early episode and I'm positive they don't put as much thought into these things as we do lol because they're just doing their jobs meanwhile we (I) am over here losing our minds over every tiny detail. But still. Also the fact that Carlos had to work up the nerve to ask him out idk that's just so freaking sweet. That part of the line gets me every single time. Carlos liked him SO MUCH right from the very beginning. Carlos has one of those hopeless romantic hearts and he saw TK and just went "that one. him. that one's mine." TK just FUMING, the feral cat is absolutely furious but also kind of in the wrong here, and Carlos calling him on it. I LOVE a relationship where one person is used to getting their way and the other one just comes in like a bulldozer and holds up a mirror to them. One of the best things Carlos does for TK is allow TK to truly see himself. Carlos doesn't let him get away with his shit. He loves him, but he holds him accountable, and TK needed that. I headcanon that TK had very ... let's say indulgent parents lol. Owen was the absent father who probably showed up now and then with a bunch of presents, and Gwyn strikes me as a very "my baby has never done anything wrong in his life" type of mother, at least when TK was little. TK really is used to getting absolutely anything he wants and used to being a brat and Carlos doesn't let him and I love that. TK grows up so much through their relationship. And then obviously the 'and I'm packing a piece' line LIKE. I am obsessed, OBSESSED, with the way Ronen plays that moment. It's like 3 seconds but you can see like 8 different emotions pass over his face. The way he just stops in his tracks, his whole tantrum completely forgotten. The way he sort of looks down a little bit, like he's going "... where. Where is it tho. I've been with you all night how did I not know you have a gun on you. Where is it Carlos." The way you can see him almost surprised by the fact that he's so instantly turned on?? This man is a liberal gay from Manhattan he didn't ever think he would find a gun sexy but in this moment he does and it fully catches him off guard. The way Carlos can so easily disarm him with just a few quipped words??? TK is so shocked by it, he's so used to being in control I think and Carlos takes that away from him and it surprises him but he's so into it. TK in this moment is still in the headspace of not really WANTING to like Carlos, but boy does he. He was all up on his bitchy high horse and then Carlos said five words and TK just started hearing circus music in his head. See it is a mistake to get me going. I have a lot of thoughts and I really need to be told to be quiet.

“You’re sure about it?” Bucky asks once again, and Sam rolls his eyes. They’ve been having this conversation for days, ever since Sam mentioned that he was ready for them to be out to the public as a couple. Of course that doesn’t mean he absolutely needs them to be out right away, he just said that he’s ready, but doesn’t want to pressure Bucky into anything. Bucky was initially on board, though, beaming as soon as he heard Sam say it. Then, the doubts and worries began.

“I am. But like I said, if you’re not ready, that’s fine, we can wait, we can even never say anything.” Sam shrugs, sitting down on the couch, as Bucky follows him from the kitchen and takes a seat next to him. Sam would like to share how happy and in love he is, but he’d be perfectly happy just being with Bucky in secret, if that’s what it takes. As long as they’re together.

“It’s not that, you know I’d love to- I dunno, hold your hand in public.” Bucky says, as it still blows his mind that it’s allowed and mostly accepted now – that it’s not criminalized, like it was when he was growing up. That people in same-sex relationships don’t generally have to sneak around and hide and keep it a secret at all cost. Bucky’s not big on PDA, but even just such a seemingly small thing as being able to hold hands as they’re walking down the street is huge and important. “I’m just worried about you.”

“Bucky.” Sam sighs, taking his hand and intertwining their fingers. “There’s nothing to worry about.”

“I just don’t want to hurt you or your reputation. I know it’s accepted now and all, but people still can be hateful. You know that better than anyone, you haven’t been Cap for long and there’s so many people saying-” he pauses and takes a calming breath. He always gets worked up about anything that might hurt Sam, be it physically or emotionally. The reception of Sam as Cap has been widely warm and welcoming, but unfortunately there are still people who really don’t like it. But he’s a public figure now, whether he likes it or not, and he willingly signed up for it. Yeah, it sucks sometimes, but he’s focused on doing good and helping people. And he knows all the risks of coming out on top of all that, and he’s willing to take it anyway.

“I know what I’m getting into, baby.” he says softly.

“But it’s not only that.” Bucky shakes his head. “I’m- I was the Winter Soldier. You know what people think of me. They already aren’t happy that I work with you. And Captain America dating me? You’ll get double the hate.” he sounds guilty, and Sam hates that. 

“Listen to me.” Sam squeezes his hand and waits until Bucky looks him in the eyes before continuing. “It’s my name on the line. So, I’m the one deciding what’s best for me, okay? They can say whatever they want, but I don’t care and I don’t wanna care what a bunch of bigots might think of me. We know the truth. You’re not the Winter Soldier anymore, and it’s about time people stopped looking at you like that. Even if it hurts my image, it can help yours- and I know you don’t care, and I’m not saying that’s the reason to do it. But I don’t care about mine, either. I love you and I want to tell the whole world how happy you make me.” he smiles, which Bucky returns. “But again, we can take our time, it’s all up to you.”

“If you’re one thousand percent sure, then- then I guess I’m in.” his smile widens. “I love you, too, and I-” he blushes. “It’s gonna sound stupid but I really want to be able to just hold your hand in public.”

“It’s not stupid at all.” Sam leans in and leaves a short kiss on Bucky’s lips. “So, we’re doing this?”

“Yeah.” Bucky nods. “Yeah, let’s do it.” he grins, which makes Sam’s heart skip a beat. He loves Bucky so much, and he can’t wait to be able to publicly call him his man.

okay.. so... this season was unfortunately a bit underwhelming.. idk why, but i feel like there were no real stakes this time? no real, "drama drama", you know? like, everything we see here has been done before in the show, and it's just a back-and-forth between will Mia move or not, will Felix be with Pilar or Lake or neither.. will Victor and Benji end up together.. it's a will they-won't they on all fronts but it's not as effective as it was before. and i can't really put my finger on why that actually is..

i also feel like the reduced episode count from 10 to 8 hinders the season.. there could have been a lot more drama and a lot more heavy stuff and actual complications if they had that extra 2 episodes.

but then again, i DO LOVE a LOT about this season, and the show overall..

firstly: Felix is still the most adorable human being and he must be protected at all costs!!! ❤️❤️❤️

LOVED how Lake didn't define herself as Bi or Gay or anything right away, she's still figuring stuff out, and that's 100% valid and she does not need a label to be with anyone!!!

wished they had dove more into Lucy and her relationship tho...

loved her breakthrough with her mom, too, even tho it was brief and she pretty much never shows up again xD

LOVED what they did with Rahim, and how they explored a bit more about him, but i do feel they could have done more.. i kinda wish Victor made the school give Rahim the "bravery award" instead of him. i feel like Rahim deserves it a lot more for a lot of reasons..

i really LOVED how they tried to explore more of Benji's past and anxieties and addiction issues... i say tried because it wasn't enough.. again, having those extra 2 episodes could have helped with this.. i wish we had seen him actually talk to his parents and not just learn that he did in the last minutes of the finale...

i really LOVE how they allowed Felix's mom to actually get better, and take care of her son.. she's still struggling, she's still healing, but she is getting better and she's working on it, and she realized how much her son's been dealing with, and really love how they had a little breakup party together. it was adorable!

i LOVED the Salazars and how lovey-dovey they were with each other after they got back together. they are reliving their honeymoon phase and i am here for it!!

Pilar is still cool, and i love her style and attitude and how she stands up for herself... but then again i wish it was addressed that she pretty much wanted to throw herself at Felix just to keep him / spite her parents... someone should have talked to her about that, or she should have admitted how wrong that was..

kinda wished they had brought back Simon for one last cameo this season.. maybe he shows up at the award ceremony after he hears about the award.. or at the carnival.. would have been cool.

i am still very iffy about Mia's parents, tbh... i get where her mom is coming from, to a certain degree, but after saying "she would do anything to get a chance with her daughter" she should have actually done ANYTHING do get a chance with her daughter.. she should have jumped in and saved the day and built an actual relationship with Mia, but nooooo... and then there's her dad, who.. i guess always took care of Mia, financially at least, but has never actually been there.. and yeah, he does allow her to stay and finish school, but he was sooo weird about it and his career still came first, and i get it, again, to a certain degree, but damn.. why do people like this have kids!?! if you're not gonna take care of them, just... don't... but that's me..

i feel like Andrew's devotion to Mia and the "you are my future" bit was a teeny tiny bit overdone. yeah, i'm a romantic, but then again, these are high school kids, who should not be risking everything just to stay together.. it was a bit too much, and i wish we could have explored WHY Andrew is like that.. i feel like there was supposed to be a backstory with him too, about maybe a messy family life or something that's pushing him towards putting 100% focus on Mia and the relationship, idk.. again, those extra 2 episodes could have helped..

didn't really like the whole Victor "casually hooking up in cars" thing. but at least it was with the same guy, so it's not as bad.. i guess.. was kinda scared where the whole "might be an STI" thing was headed for a second, thought it would cause more drama, but i was worried for nothing xD aaand Nick did turn out to be a good guy. yay

and also Nick and Liam are just adorable, and the way Nick was in love at first sight of Liam was just too good!!!

really love how Victor and Felix are still besties, and that they are comfortable enough to lie in bed and talk about everything and even check out each others junk when needed xD they are best friend goals honestly. and i love that their relationship was portrayed the way it was, without any of the typical toxic masculinity between two guy friends, you know?

and i do love that Victor and Benji finally managed to find some common ground and try, together, with complete honesty and just give it another go.. BUT at the same time, when Victor finally said he was fine with being alone, it also could have been soooo powerful to just have him go on the ferris wheel alone, you know? like, he's been through a LOT, he did his best, but he doesn't necessarily need another person to be happy. he can finally be alone and happy and that's okay....

..... buut then Benji shows up xD

which is fine, i like this too, it's just that it's sooo fkin cheesy xD but i guess it has too be, it's a teen show, it has to be cheesy.

also, what's up with Felix and Pilar now?! they're not back together, right?! they're just all "one big happy family"?! xD

also Victor and Pilar's younger brother, who unfortunately i completely forgot the name of, is huuuge wasted potential.. i'm sorry. they could have done a lot with him, but he was barely there. he had like 3 sentences this whole season..

i feel like i've been wwaaaaayyy more critical than i intended to be 😅 , but there's a lot of things that could have been done better, imo. BUT at the same time, i am extremely happy that 1. this show even exists, 2. it got a proper final season and ending!!!! 3. how the overall ending turned out..

this show is overall SO FKIN GOOD!! AND SO FKIN IMPORTANT!!

and honestly, i wish it had gotten a better treatment and more seasons.. it deserved it.. the story and characters deserved it, and honestly the actors too..

Disney putting it back on D+ is a tiny step in the right direction, and i'm glad they did it, but it's also kinda too little too late..

i just hope that with this tiny step more people get to experience this show, and find themselves in it, and it will help people be okay with who they are, or accept others for who they are...

that this tiny step miiighht push disney and/or other studios to do more stuff like this, with more, better, proper, good representation of not just LGBTQIA+ stuff, but different cultures and mental health and other issues...

this show, IS a good step in the right direction, as was Love, Simon, it's just that it needs more love, more attention, and it's definitely not enough.. but we're getting there i guess.

no sorry i’m still on this point. personally i don't see any evidence anywhere in the show that supports the claim that ed said "i need you here" specifically bc he knew izzy was in love with him. as of right now we don't know if ed knows abt izzy's feelings for him (i'll admit that it would be funny if ed did know, bc izzy doesn't, but that's beside the point). however, i DO see evidence that izzy set up that whole interaction by throwing all his shit really loudly into the boat to try and get ed’s attention because he wanted to apologize to ed and hopefully be allowed to stay.

like, let's look at the events leading up to izzy's apology and ed's "i need you here" line:

the day before, izzy called ed an “insane, unpleasant shell of a man who's merely posing as blackbeard” and then gave ed “my fucking resignation, you absolute twat.”

then, ed reveals the fog plan and izzy’s first thought is “fuck me.” fuck me. not, “what the fuck ed, why didn’t you tell me about that?” izzy's response is that he messed up by not knowing what ed was alluding to with the sausage clouds.

then etc etc buttons points out “hey the fog doesn’t help if we’re in their path” and ed is like “yeah but it’s september 2nd so it’s fine” and izzy’s like “uh wrong date, boss” and then ed is like “guess i’ll die!” and we get one lingering shot of izzy’s very unhappy expression. idk what his face means here but he looks very tired

THEN. lighthouse fuckery. we don’t see izzy participate in that at all so it's hard to say for sure, but personally, i think izzy thinks that ed came up with that plan on his own. even if ed did verbally give stede his due credit within izzy’s earshot, i 100% think izzy would just dismiss that as ed being weirdly fascinated with stede. izzy continually underestimates stede, he doens't realize that stede's just as good at coming up with insane out-of-the-box-plans as ed

long story short tho: the lighthouse fuckery works. izzy lives to see another day. and the last thing he said to ed in private was that when that happened, he was going to retire

but izzy just watched blackbeard, most brilliant sailor he's ever met, come up with two genius plans to save their asses. one of them almost would've worked, one of them did work, and now izzy once again is alive because of ed's insane plans

so when dawn breaks at the end of e4, i think there are two things going through izzy's brain: the first is "ah fuck, i called ed a twat posing as blackbeard last night and then he saved the day. i sure have egg on my face now." the second is "i also told him i was resigning. now i have to fucking resign."

the "i need you here" conversation starts when ed hears izzy preparing a dinghy. and ed hears this because izzy is preparing the dinghy by very loudly throwing things into it. ed is somewhere above him while izzy just goes about loudly chucking stuff into the little boat within ed's earshot.

and it's kind of weird how much stuff he throws into the dinghy, bc presumably ed's ship is nearby, and also presumably the only reason izzy's on the Revenge at all is so they can force the crew to repair the ship and then execute them and steal the ship. idk why izzy would've packed for a long sleepover. but look at all the shit he throws into the dinghy in this episode:

so when izzy is "leaving" in episode 4, he loads the dinghy up with the following: five (5) sacks (two large, one medium, one small), one (1) mysterious brown cylinder, and one (1) barrel. (also he throws some rope in there too)

compare this to when izzy actually leaves in e6:

when izzy actually leaves, all he takes with him is one (1) barrel, one (1) knapsack, one (1) coil of rope, and one (1) ambiguous bolt of white fabric that might be a sail. and this is after izzy's spent a fortnight on the Revenge. i feel like he should have more stuff with him, not less?

so i actually think izzy's only "packing his stuff" in e4 to get ed's attention. i think he's throwing random shit that isn't even his into the boat in hopes that ed will come down to the deck and izzy can apologize. i think izzy was already fully prepared to stay with ed the second ed said he could. he wasn't going to outright seek ed out and say "ed can i take back my resignation and keep being your first mate," but as soon as ed shows up izzy starts of the conversation by immediately apologizing for insulting ed. then he stops preparing the dinghy and waits for ed to continue the conversation. he's in no rush to get out of there. he's waiting to be told to stay. and when ed offers to make him captain if he stays—unrequited love or not, why the fuck would izzy say no?

it's possible none of this matters. maybe the directors just grabbed random props for both of these scenes, and in e4 they wanted izzy to keep throwing shit into the dinghy as he started talking to give the conversation some action, so that's why he takes so much more stuff in e4 than in e6. and maybe izzy is making a perfectly normal amount of noise while he's packing the dinghy. idk. i didn't write the show.

my point is not that this IS what happens. my point is that imo, my interpretation of that conversation is just as plausible (more plausible actually but whatever) as @butchpedia's assertion that ed was intentionally leveraging their relationship and izzy's feelings to get izzy to stay. but i'm not trying to argue that my subjective reading of this scene is proof of izzy's gross manipulation tactics (i got other scenes for that one, lmao). my point is that using this scene as proof that ed leverages his power over izzy is dumb. thank you.

(also. all that aside. even before we get the "i need you here" line and ed's little pat on the shoulder that makes izzy nut his pants (god bless con's acting choices). look at this man's fucking face when ed is like "the crew is gonna need a new captain, someone who really knows the ropes":

that does not look like a man who wants to leave. that does not look like the face of a man who needs a lot of convincing to stick around. ed's little "i need you here" seals the deal for izzy, sure, but i really struggle to see that line as "ed leveraging his relationship with izzy and izzy's clear love for him to get izzy to stay" when ed hardly even needs any more leverage to get izzy to stay??)

Not to keep harping on this but I accidentally saw a post that pissed me off a little bit so I’m gonna talk about it. Originally I was gonna put this at the end of the post but I’ve decided to move it to the top because I know some people are determined to take me out of context so I’ll sacrifice the formatting of this post and some of the impact of this sentence in a vain hope that my point will not be misconstrued. I fully anticipate people skipping over this first paragraph anyway but at least I did my due diligence. You can like Izzy, I like Lestat (AMC IWTV), I like the Joker, It’s fine to have an evil blorbo. It’s the apologia that gets me tho. You’re fake villain fuckers and you can’t admit that your blorbo is fucked up in some deeply uncomfortable ways.

That said on to my angry meta: Either Izzy is homophobic, or he’s an abuser. He could be both, but he can’t be neither otherwise the literal climax of the first season doesn’t make any fucking sense. Like he calls in a swat on Stede and the crew because Stede has, quote, “done something to his boss’s brain” and he wants Stede dead because of it. homosexuality as a corrupting influence is textbook homophobia. He thinks Stede has made Ed soft and he thinks he’s using his limp wristed wiles to do it.

If you don’t want to read it as homophobia (which would be a weird reading because it fails to explain that line and misses the whole message about toxic masculinity, but I’ve heard it’s the reading that some people go with so, let’s look at it) and you think that he’s doing all of this because he’s in love with Ed and he’s jealous, I hate to tell you but that brings us back around to the abuser reading.

Like, the reading that this subset of the fandom seems to want me to believe is Izzy is in tragic gay love with Ed. But that doesn’t make a single damn thing that he did ok. In fact it kind of makes it worse. Like trying to kill the loved ones of your beloved is text book abuser behavior. You’re telling me that Izzy feels so entitled to Ed that he cannot take “Fuck off you’re banished from the ship” For an answer, and he has to kill the guy that he blames for turning Ed against him? And I’m supposed to sympathize with that? Get real. That’s text book abuser behavior. If that’s the reading, then Izzy can’t handle Ed having someone in his life that isn’t Izzy, he can’t handle Ed making decisions that Izzy doesn’t approve of, and he can’t handle Ed breaking off their relationship (which was Izzy’s fault by the way he agreed to duel Stede sorry you can’t handle the consequences honey). Those first two things you have to be able to handle if you want to have friends or even professional relationships, and the third thing is something that you’re allowed to be upset about but that you’re gonna have to move on from. Instead Izzy comes up with a hair brained scheme that risks the crews lives, Calico Jack’s life, and, most importantly, risks Ed’s life in order to… what? If there’s another explanation for Izzy calling the fucking cops I’d love to hear it but as far as I can tell the options are “He hates Stede because Stede is frilly and camp and thinks Stede is making Ed weak” aka Textbook hate crime and “He’s in deeply dysfunctional love and is therefore trying to force Ed to be in a relationship with him despite the fact that Ed has made it clear he doesn’t want that” aka Textbook abuser.

To be clear I wouldn’t have Izzy any other way. The roll he plays in the narrative is important to the story. I don’t like him, per se, but I like stories about overcoming toxic masculinity, and those stories have to have a villain, and I was deeply emotionally ruined by the consequences of his actions, (i.e. the domino effect that caused Stede to abandon Ed on the dock) so I want him around for as long as they decide to keep him around. Just, like, fucking pretending he’s never done anything wrong ever? Come on now.

Fascinating. They usually cut jealousy scenes to a minimum or don't show at all even in pure BL genre, like Lan Wangji (esp Wen Ning thing) or Shen Wei being extremely possessive, bc it can't be explained by brotherhood in their opinion. It's also the reason it was cut from Ultimate. So why here suddenly add scenes like that and with such heavy focus is a mystery, since you've said it's not in the novel. It's not even reasonable jealousy, its just straight up "cant touch my piece of pizza" stuff

Hmm... never thought about it. LOL in the anime the kept LZ being jealous of Wen Ning though xD. Idk in "Sleuth of the Ming" they made a whole open scene out of it. What I've noticed is that their censorship always works differently, and some choices never cease to surprise me, as in who decides what's ok and whats not, bc idk... I understand that stuff like dying for each other, touching, staring can be by many seen as a touching bromance technically, I mean I've seen many ppl watching even cencored BL and being completely oblivious. But there are sometimes some stuff included, that I personally do not get how it can be interpreted as "close friends" and how it passed the censorship. And I do not mean here sucking out poisons, for example (bc I would've done this for my close friends if they were in danger haha).

I'm just judging from the point of view of like me and my sister being very close to the point of a person on the street asking us if we're lesbians lmao (I like still don't get where it came from, hand holding?xD). As I've said before, I guess I see why some ppl who don't have close friends or family would consider some closeness as romantic (since both close bros and couple do some things like spooning for example), but anyone who like saw idk bts members or have a super close bestie or sibling might know that hugging each other to sleep, wearing their clothes or feeding them a jelly bean if their hands are busy doesn't always mean you have any romance there going on, speaking from my expierience, so I just have different view on this "gay stuff vs bro stuff". (like to me the afterlife pingxie scene is actually gayer than any touching they've done, bc like why he didn't see his family or iron triangle whole if they all bros). It's just there are a LOOOT of things that can be indeed considered bro stuff technically (they might not be, but they could), but there is some stuff that just cannot be explained by we're bros, thats all. And this kind of jealousy is one of them.

Bc like a bit of jealousy like "my bestie wanted to go skating with their lover instead of me, so I'm upset we don't spend as much time together" can exist, but if you have problems with someone hitting on your friend, checking him out or even touching him and you don't want them to date anybody, that's another thing, that just means you wanna date them. Wu Xie can hug Fatty to sleep and they can slap each other's butts like me and my sis, but he'd never be jealous seeing someone flirting with him or smth. You know what I mean here? So I get why it's in most situations considered not censorship appropriate and it's cut.

But the most funny thing about the "him being unreasonably jealous" added scenes is the fact that like they actually chose to make him being absurdly jealous. Bc for example in the first version of the scene, Pangzi was trying to dance with Xiaoge, thats why Wu Xie got all worked up:

it was at least somewhat understandable. But in the actual scene from the drama they went and for some reason changed it. Xiaoge pulled Pangzi in, bc he lost direction while being blind, but it was still Pangzi who got reprimanded for that at the end lmao

so it just became even more hilarious, bc Pangzi just grazed him, he didn't even do anything, so I was like will this guy just calm the fuck down, but no, he kept going lolz

I'm just surprised about some of their deliberate choices I guess. So I agree, weird it is.

But Reboot in general was weird, when it comes to the rollercoaster of their choices lmao. They uncensored, then used censorship to uncensor, then censored to cover, its just the first time I saw this weird kind of censorship, like as long as girls are there, jokes like "I won't be able to get it up on a woman" are okay??????? Idk they were just extremely out there almost each episode with all kinds of stuff, that by the end I was like... well, at this point its already pointless. I guess it was just the first time, I've seen it made in such weird way and actually used in a smart way fitted with the character and no just for the sake of it. Adding a scene when he accidentally calls his in their opinion potential love interest his bro's name is actually uncensoring, not censoring, you know what I mean? (since we in fact didn't move anywhere near this realization in the book). Same as what many noticed about them openly making fun of censorship and "out of nowhere appeared feelings and how its not love and whats wrong with idolization if u don't know a person" after NPSS interviews and how it only made everyone fall for what pingxie have more. So it was like... I actually for the first time enjoyed it. It was a pretty genius way of showing Wu Xie's weird internal struggles from that book, which I thought were not possible to show. Bc as you know he's hilariously oblivious there about all of it and same as WWX for example do not even consider such possibility. But I think it's just bc it's not actual BL BL, it's a story where a couple naturally accidentaly came together and turned out to be both guys (even tho one was initially intende to be a girl xD), so its in general complicated. Wu Xie is just borderline lost at this point xD. It's like "Yeah, I want him... What do you mean as in dating? Whats that?". Or like:

- Want a wife?

- No, I want Xiaoge.

- As in you're gay?

- What's a gay?

That's basically how he rolls.

But I do love jealous Wu Xie, I think it's hilarious here, he's like somehow complitely okay with how idiotic he looks and that's very sweet haha.

P.P.S. all in all I really do not get how their censorship works in general at all. Like why Wangxian wedding bows were allowed, but other stuff don't? Or like I get like complimenting your bestie "you look hot in this" or "you're so pretty" or smth, but there's a difference between this and saying that their "lips look sweet"... like thats already another thing entirely. So at times I watch cdramas like... huh??? Maybe it depends on who checks it idk

i think they did an excellent job in 5a with showing how Buck and Taylor don't click romantically and how Buck is settling and unhappy in the long run. I adored them in s4 when she came back. They had so much chemistry and potential and it was all gone the second they started dating. I HATE that he cheated on her, she deserves better, BUT no one can convince me this came out of nowhere for him, he was already settling and stringing her along in 5a. idk why they spent so much time on it tho.

5a is still weird for me to discuss coherently and rationally bc so much of the taylor content as it was airing was being attacked in the most bad faith ways an so i still need some distance from it in order to look at it objectively.

i could accept a lot of readings of the bucktaylor dynamic in 5a, but the idea of buck stringing her along just isn't one of them...

i get that we've never seen buck be the person to break up with someone but much like we saw taylor call out buck for using her to impress the neighbor that was hooking up with albert after their failed date we have also seen buck tell taylor what it was that he wanted. that if what they wanted wasn't lining up then he didn't want it.

this is after buck, actually where we saw him sad and wanting her to call him after the news van incident and all of their s4 flirtations where he was clearly smitten... so the idea that buck would spend all of 5a invested in a relationship that didn't make him happy just doesn't make sense? i get it's the same line the co show runner is trotting out now. i guess i'm just built different but i don't fly half way across the country for a person i'm not invested in... i don't get cute personal protection wear for a person i'm not invested in so that should they be in danger i can be there to help them out...

buck stringing anyone along doesn't sound like anything the show gave them. it makes about as much sense as the hard left turn the writers gave eddieana.

and my thing really is that if the show wanted to do this cheating arc, go for it. i still don't think it'd fit with anything that buck has ever expressed in the past. either in 110 or 204, i feel like he's made his stance there clear. but sure, i'll allow it. i just feel like if you want the viewer to be invested in the idea of buck and lucy meaning anything i would have pushed the kiss to 513. you can keep the flirting in the bar here, you can keep the conversation he and hen had in the uber only now it's a discussion of what buck wanted to do and not what he did. you build it up so when it happens after the viewer is excited to see what's going to happen after the boston detour.

you can assassinate buck's character and explore the complexities of the mistake the buck made and all of that.

what it boils down to for me is bucktaylor aside, regardless of the reception of that, the isolated idea that buck would cheat does come out of nowhere and if you're going to make that a plot then you can't just jump into it, that's the kind of thing you have to build into. esp when unlike hen the person he's cheating with isn't an old flame or mother of his child, it's just random character the show wrote in specifically to cheat with buck.

abby was literally on a different continent and this man was telling girls hitting on him in all seriousness he had a girlfriend.
