Hi, sorry if this is weird of me to ask, but but how did you learn to draw / practice? Just seeing the awe shattering change from that January 2022 drawing to present day is really inspiring to learn. Your art is genuinely so beautiful and impressive, I love looking at it, and even if that wasn’t where your art was actually at in 2022 and it was just silly doodles I’m really interested how you got here :)

Close observation and feeling out different shapes to put them into my muscle memory, I suppose. You think you know so many shapes just because you can imagine them, until you realize that you don't even have the motion as an instinct in you or anything. I talk about that more in depth here:

Also watching speedpaints and art streams is soooo useful, my art started rapidly improving after I started doing that. Watching those shows you how something is done or gives you ideas you never even considered. Sometimes when I'm trying to learn how to draw a character I've never drawn before, I go to Youtube and look up speedpaints of them to get a feel for what motions they did in what order

hello! my name is sarah (she/her), i’m a 20 year old canadian and i doodle an obscene amount of fanart. its horrifying how many drawings i make in a day. my hands should be falling off but somehow they’re still there. one time i did draw for so long that my pointer finger went numb, however.

as a fair warning, i will fixate on something for a decent amount of time. and because its the ONLY thing on my mind, its likely the ONLY thing ill be drawing LMAO. so i might make a bunch of drawings for one fandom, and then on some glorious sunday, i will find something that tickles my brain chemicals in the right way and do a full 180. so uh... keep that in mind if you choose to follow me lol

Alright número uno 0_o i would describe my style as semi realistic and very fantasy-based. Sketchy and gritty sometimes, since I mainly work with biro. I can't draw ears or teeth well so I just go all pointy and spiky when I draw those features on faces XD Vampire? Werewolf? Sea-creature? Dragon? Man who knows but they look funky. I was doodling some faces right now!

I can't decide on the hair yet and I want to look at more references before I decide hehe.

Ok 5 👀 while I don't know how to draw human ears and teeth very well, I would say that my least favourite thing to draw would be legs and shoes. I can't get the proportions and stances right and they look very unnatural :(

Also, I'm trying to improve the perspectives and depth in my drawings, but while it can be challenging I don't think I dislike it. It's quite fun :3

Anddd number 19! How often do I draw? Relatively frequently! I literally.. never finish any wips. I draw almost daily but they're mainly sketches and experimentation with new digital tools and traditional skills. Doodling relaxes me and it's something to do while doing something else like listening to music or studying. But yeah, always sketching! I don't post most of my work as to me they're goofy sketches I'll forget about after a while.

Art Summary Thoughts below the cut:

January: I was catching up on Young Jedi Adventures, and got a bit taken with the concept of my OCs (and a much younger Fifth Brother!) running the training course from the first few episodes.

February: I actually drew multiple things this month, but I chose emercury as almost the rest of this is going to be Star Wars. I really like how I did their designs here, even if the art itself is rather plain.

March: I didn't draw much here, but my sketches were cruder and generally felt anatomically wonky. Ceret being sad is a theme, and though I've written fic about it, I hope that I can execute the concept in drawn art as well beyond a sketch.

April: This is actually late, but it's weird to me that this is my only fully-finished piece with Eighth this year. I have. A lot of weird feelings about feeling less fannishly attached to him lately, but considering that we're rounding Year 9 of him being in canon with still only 9 lines to his name, I think I'm somewhat justified in the well getting dry. I miss being as inspired by his character, and I hope something comes up that'll reignite that (which isn't to say this year was a nothingburger! I did write a fanfic for him I enjoyed, but apparently had a very niche appeal lmao).

May: ...to displace my obsession with Eighth, however, comes a focus on three characters, since I genuinely could not tell you who out of Keeve, Terec, and Ceret is my favorite. I was feeling artistically funky with this one, so even if this is my most rendered/polished work of the year, it feels off. I still really enjoyed getting to do a Phase III followup to my Phase I drawing of them together.

June: This is genuinely the only doodle I could for sure pin on this month. I'd started Bridgerton, which I'm enjoying, and drew a doodle of what I think is Tierny in a Bridgerton au.

July: An oc! I haven't given her a name yet, but she's a Mikkian Jedi in Rey's order, who feels very insecure about her combat/negotiation abilities, and becomes obsessed with the inquisitors, both as a topic of research, but also seeing herself in a group of Knights that were subpar and turned to the dark side. She eventually makes it out of the morass, but not without temptation. Very heavily inspired by the likes of Voe, Ceret, Yord, Osha, etc.

August: Eighth makes another appearance here. I'm mostly trying to make concepts work for him artistically, but it all feels forced.

September: I did a few ship requests I could have put here, but I'd feel a bit remiss without posting Bell and Burry at least once. I adore their friendship and the potential of a romance, even if it likely isn't happening in canon.

October: The same ship request a day late for brenquisitor. Was happy to draw these two after a year of immersing myself in To Gain The Harbor.

November: The ballroom excerpt for Tempest Breaker came out! I'd been quietly designing eveningwear for Terec and Ceret regardless, and was happy to sketch out a concept for Ceret another fanartist and I had collaborated on, as well as Lourna's kickass dress.

December: ...and the previous sketches led my to my first fully-colored terekeeve drawing! I've been going on about the ship for just over a year now, and if Cavan wasn't going to give them a scene on the dance floor, I had to take it into my own hands. Knowing what Keeve prefers to wear now, I'm going to retool her dress, but I'm not immune to drawing hot people for the sake of it sometimes.

Overall, it once again was an artistically funky year, but for the first time in a long time, I feel more inspired, both to draw and write fic. I don't know if I'll ever be at the output I was in college lmao, but I hope that this is the end of a very long fallow period.

Also, for the first time in years, I'd say my fic output exceeded that of my art. I'm still writing shorter pieces, but I published a multichapter for the first time in a very long while, and

i gotta Juke AU story

this is inspired by this one filipino movie i watched “para sa hopeless romantic” but julie and luke go to the same uni and julie writes a random line of lyrics on a schools desk and luke writes the next lines when he’s in his class. the next day julie sees someone finished her lyrics and they end up having a finished song throughout the week. they obviously end up falling in love with each other’s words but one day the desks in that classroom were thrown out so julie and luke try and find the desk and run into each other only for Luke to find out it’s Julie, his crush since the beginning of school, and Julie finds out it’s Luke, they boy who she’s been eyeing ever since she’s first seen him. honestly this is all over the place. this is just another random college au. tehe

I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS FROM A FILIPINO MOVIE!

I have much more pride in my culture now you have no idea haha! But no really,  Filipino movies can be the cheesiest, silliest, most cliche things I’ve ever seen. And I mean that endearingly. 

So it makes total sense that this super cute trope that I see popping up in different fandoms came from a Filipino movie. 

I think I’ve seen an iteration of this on AO3 and it was super cute! (But I think it was more like leaving a piece of paper on a desk). 

But yes, yes , YES. 

Juke is the perfect ship for this. 

Hmm... I think it would be an interesting take, because my mind went to Luke first, if it was Julie who would start it- yes I agree with you. 

It is canon that Luke helped Julie finish the song that she had been working on with her mom (’Stand Tall’), so might as well run with it. 

Maybe during her quiet year, where she didn’t sing or play piano, she often found herself doodling a lot. She kinda threw herself into drawing. It was her creative outlet that brought her comfort during these rough times. 

She’d have trouble paying attention in class sometimes, and so she would end up doodling. 

Now, I used to have a history class that frowned upon doodling in notebooks. The notebooks would be graded, and if there is a non-history, non-relevant doodle in the margins or anything- you get points docked off. 

So Julie, like me, tried remedying this by doodling on post it notes to avoid getting in trouble. 

But one day, Julie forgets or runs out of post it notes, and she’s only got her history notebook and textbook with her. And since she has no qualms marking up her jeans and shoes, she thought she’d be discrete and doodle on the desks.

Not like anyone would have a problem with that anyway. These desks are old af and scratched up and had doodles on them already. 

She would start drawing her usual stuff- funky creatures, bubble letter-ed profanities, etc. 

But then she starts thinking about her mom, she starts doodling dahlias and even a rose in one corner. Memories start flooding back and she starts absentmindedly writing down a lyric of a song they never finished, just bits of pieces figured out: 

‘Don’t blink...no, I don’t want to miss it’ 

She didn’t think to erase it. Just grabbed her stuff and went to her next class. 

The following day however, she pulls out her post-notes (after getting more) and is about to doodle when she sees a new scribble on the corner of the desk where she wrote her lyrics. 

Squinting, she realizes those are words (geez, the penmanship sucks). But she was able to make it out: 

‘One thing, and it's back to the beginning’

It’s written right under her line. And she reads them together- 

Wow. This sounds... pretty good. 

She quickly jots this mysterious new addition to the song in her post-notes, but not before giving writing another shot and provide another line. Curious, if she would get another response. 

She does. 

And it’s perfect. 

It’s been a year, a year since she felt the urge to write, to think about music- but, when all the lyrics fall into place, Julie is suddenly inspired to continue. 

She spends the entire class thinking about how to reply, how to keep the momentum of this song going. 

When she gets it, she writes it down underneath the new line. And waits. 

And like clockwork, next day she sits down and there’s a new addition. 

First verse done- Julie couldn’t believe it. 

Smiling, she records it all and had to erase everything from before to make more room. 

‘Thanks’ she writes ‘Keep going?’ 

The reply the next day has her grinning from ear to ear: 

‘I’m game :)’

And that’s how it goes: Another day, Another killer line. 

Julie would rush from her next class, confusing Flynn who did not think she would be so excited going to history, smile on her face, anticipating another message from this mystery writing partner. 

Sometimes, she gets too caught up in her head, eagerly thinking up new lines that she often doesn’t watch where she’s going. One time, she pretty much embarrassed herself while bumping into the cute Luke Patterson in her rush to History. 

(She practically fell on him and he tried to talk to her after, but she jumped out of his arms before whatever awkward conversation that was bound to happen if she stayed). 

Julie and her pen pal would keep working on the song, even came up with a system to let each other know if they’ve finished a verse. 

And sometimes it’s not just lyrics. Julie draws her normal doodles next to her lines, and she’s delighted to find even more ridiculous ones waiting for her when she gets back. 

There was one time when she’s had to stifle a laugh because a crude caricature of their History teacher in their corner, yelling out the next lyric: 

‘I'm goin’ out of my mind!’

(Glad to know someone else shares the same sentiments about their strict history teacher.)

They finish her mom’s song and Julie’s glad... grateful even. But she couldn’t help but feel disappointed... assuming it’s over. 

But come Monday the following weekend, her pen pal decided to leave another line- 

‘Running from the past... Tripping on the now’ 

and a new comment: 

‘My turn now?’

A new song, and Julie grins, already coming up with ideas... 

She loves writing again, especially music. Sparked by this exchange, she eases herself back into listening to music again, looking for inspiration to use for the song she and her mysterious partner are working on. 

And writing with this person... is really something else. 

But Julie’s favorite part of the whole experience really is the comments written on the upper corner. Stuff like: 

‘This part is killer!’

‘Mindreader, much? :P’

‘Wrecking ball at it again. So talented :)’

and her favorite:

‘You make me a better writer...’

She ducks down so no one can see her blush as she writes back: 

‘I think we make each other better...’ 

Flynn one day tells her straight up she’s got a crush on her pen pal, to which Julie denies because how could she have a crush on someone she doesn’t even know. 

But as she thinks about it.. she feels like she does. Or at least know enough to establish this sort of connection that feels like they’re in each other’s heads, know how the other person thinks, inspiring the other. 

It was... special. 

Flynn suggests that she needs to figure out who is leaving these notes. But it’s hard seeing as though Julie has the class in an earlier period, a bunch of other classes are held in the same room after she leaves. 

(Flynn tries a sting operation, but ends up getting caught ditching class before she could solve the mystery). 

Julie’s worried though. As much as she wants to figure out who this great pen pal is, she wonders if they would be disappointed to find out they’ve been writing her. And not someone as cool and as pretty as Carrie Wilson or her friend Kayla. It’s hard to live up to those expectations. 

In the end, she wants to know. At least so she could maybe thank them in person, for helping bring music back into her life and for making history class the highlight of her day. 

She decides this right before they break for Thanksgiving. She writes down: 

‘I wanna meet you. Can we talk?’ 

And she’s on pins and needles the entire break, just wondering what her pen pal would say back. ‘Yes’, ‘no?’. 

But what she finds when she comes back from break is so much worse than the fear of rejection. 

They got new desks. 

Their school finally got their shit together and replaced their old, worn down desks. 

‘No, no, no, no, no’. 

That means she’ll never know what her penpal end up replying... 

She runs out of class and finds Flynn, panicked, she tells her what happened. And Flynn does some digging, and she’s able to find out where the janitors dumped the old desks. 

Julie totally underestimates just how desperate she is in finding out the identity of her pen pal because she finds herself sneaking back to school at night with Flynn, seeking out the lot behind school where the dumpsters were piled high with the old desks. 

Flynn, the ride or die she is, armed with a flashlight, starts taking out the desks along with Julie, and there are... a lot of desks. 

They go at it for an hour, and the situation starts to look hopeless, especially when Flynn discovers a whole new set of dumpsters with desks that they haven’t even checked yet. 

They’re about to throw in the towel- 

But then they hear voices. 

Quickly, they hide behind a dumpster right when three guys, with flashlights, come onto the scene. 

“Dude, I can’t believe we’re here at this hour-” 

“Oh my god. There’s like a boatload of stuff here-” 

“Guys. Can you not? And please help me? It’s gotta be here somewhere”. 

They sound... familiar. They were definitely not the custodians. 

Risking it, Julie leaves her hiding spot- 

“Luke?” 

Luke Patterson jumps and whips around to face her, “Julie?” 

Behind him are his bandmates, Alex and Reggie. Everyone looks at each other confused. 

“What are you doing here?” he asks. 

“I...uh, I’m-” Julie stammers, “Well-” 

Flynn cuts in, “She’s looking for something,” 

Luke nods, “Really? So are we.” 

Alex scoffs, “Nope. Just you, dude. But we’re helping.” 

“Maybe we can help you too?” Reggie offers, “What are you looking for?” 

Julie sighs, “... a desk?” 

“Well... you came to the right place...” Luke laughs, shining his flashlight on the dumpsters, “Funny enough that’s what we’re looking for too.” 

“One in particular?” 

Then the guy gets all clammed up, “Uh... yeah. I think... I might have... left something... in it. Something important.” 

“How about we all look together?” suggests Flynn, “Help each other out?” 

And so they exchange the descriptions on the desk, with Julie leaving out the glaring obvious detail of the note. 

They’re surprised to find out that they’re looking for the same kind of desk. The ones they used in a particular building at school, the same one her history class is in. 

So they break off and search. And she ends up in the same dumpster as Luke. 

“So what’s in your desk?” he ends up asking. 

“Huh?” 

“You know... that’s so important that you’re here on a Friday night, digging through a dumpster,” 

“Right... uh,” Julie scrambles for an answer, “There’s something on- I mean, in the desk... that really helped me. I was going through a hard time. Lost my mom last year-” 

Luke stops his search, “Oh, I’m so sorry-” 

“It’s okay. I just...” she sighs, finding another desk that looks like hers but not quite, “I just want to find it...” 

“I get it. Hopefully we can find your desk.” 

“Hopefully we’ll find yours too,” 

After another 20 minutes searching, Julie finds it. At the very bottom of the dumpster. Luke’s face lights up once she brings it out. 

“Oh my god, you found it!” He exclaims, hands gripping the edge to take it off her hands. 

She tugs it back, “Yeah... I found it... my desk,” 

“Your desk? But this is my-” he breaks off, eyes widening, “Wait. Are you...?” 

“Am I what?” 

Luke drops the desk, clears his throat, and starts reciting: 

‘I believe... I believe that we're just one dream...’

Julie gasps, then continues: 

“Away from who we're meant to be...”

Then together: “That we're standing on the edge of...”

“...great.” Luke finishes, in awe, “You! You’re ‘Lyric Girl’!”

“You’re my pen pal?” Julie says in disbelief. 

Luke Patterson has been her pen pal this entire time? The cutie with the cutoffs? It makes total sense. He’s in a rock band and the songs she’s heard from them have amazing lyrics. 

Wait... she has been lowkey crushing on Luke Patterson through his words... 

“Wow, it’s you! Luke... wow...” she honestly has no words. They used to come easy to her when she talks to him via the desk, but now, after finding out that the local heartthrob is her writing partner, she’s super nervous. 

“Look... if you’re disappointed that it’s me... I get it. I’ll give you an out, and you won’t ever have to talk to me again-” 

“Julie-” 

“-like this is weird- this is weird right? But I mean what we had was nice and all-” 

“Julie, can you-?” 

“-we don’t ever have to talk about this if you don’t-” 

“Julie!” He reaches for her hands and intertwines their fingers, shutting her up. 

“Yeah...?” 

He takes a deep breath before saying: “Why would I ever be disappointed that it’s you? I’ve... got like a mad crush on you since freshman year...” 

Julie choked, “Wait, what?” 

“Voice of an angel and wicked beauty to boot? How could I not?” he smiles, “And... finding out that you’re my mystery muse is just... you don’t know how happy that makes me.” 

His smile drops and he’s all the sudden bashful, “Wait... are you disappointed that it’s me?” 

She shakes her head, “No, no! That’s not why! It’s just... you’re this rockstar in the making! I didn’t think- I didn’t think you’d ever pay attention to me.” 

“I do... I do pay attention,” he looks down at their desk, “Well... maybe not enough attention, otherwise we would have met sooner.” 

She laughs, “Totally,” 

They stand there for a while, grinning at each other like idiots. 

“So...” Julie decides to jump the gun, “Do you... maybe wanna grab something to eat?” 

Luke raises an eyebrow, “Are you asking me out, Julie?” 

She blushes, “Maybe,” 

“Interesting,” 

“So what’s your answer?” 

He leans in, “Might wanna look down,” he whispers. 

She does, right on their desk and finally reads the reply she’s spent weeks thinking about. 

‘Tell me where and when...

I’ll be there...’

Needless to say, but that from that day on- they don’t need to use their desk to talk anymore...

I'm 4'11 with super dark brown eyes and hair and a baby face; most people always think  I'm much younger than I actually am (I'm 20, but just look like a forever teen I guess) I've got dreadlocks that go a little past mid back, freckles, beauty marks and light patches all over my body (not sure if its vitiligo or not), and I wear prescription sports goggles instead of normal glasses since the straps make me less likely to lose them, and Im accidentally rough on stuff sometimes

Agender, aroace with leaning for gender neutral and neopronouns, but i dont really care much in the end ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've got a metric shit-ton of mental illness, so my mental state is Wack™, tho I'll point out my ADHD and Autism since those are my most prominent. Paradoxical is the best word to describe me cuz I can range from feral gremlin memelord to so-quiet-you-forget-Im-there (I accidentally scare people alot cuz of this). Relatively apathetic emotionally, and I can sometimes struggle with social cues, I'm also very childish, hyperactive and immature, and can be blunt and straight forward with my words. I have a trash sense of humor (I'll basically laugh at anything), tho I do enjoy dark, self-deprecating, and/or inappropriate jokes the most. Since most people see me as "ignorant baby", I like fucking with them by just saying the weirdest shit or casually cursing because I can. Honestly, the amount of memes, shitposts, and copypastas that I've memorized just for the sake of a joke, is amazing.

I'm academically smart to a degree, with a leaning towards the sciences, maths, and engineering. Mostly a big psychology and astronomy nerd and really big into art. I've gotta bunch of sketchbooks and folders full of drawings, (mostly character designs), from over the years and too many damn color pencils (that I will continue to add on too, because fuck yeah colors). I'm really into transformers, comics, anime, video games, and true crime. I like to lift weights and have questionable eating habits (forgetting to eat is a problem of mine so I always have snacks on me, and I tend to eat things I really shouldnt; Ex. Chalk) and basically eat like a famine survivor when it comes to food. I practically inhale my food and I tend to get aggressive if someone tries to interact with me while I'm eating or cooking. All and all tho, I'm mostly here to vibe and just live in the moment.

I have a lot of cat-like habits and tend to headbutt, rub up against, and bite and/or lick people who I like; walk on my toes alot; and prefer small spaces over wide open ones. I'm also really flexible, so it's not odd to causally find me weird ass positions. Gets the nyoomies randomly and struggles with volume control (not helped by me being slightly hard at hearing), so I'll usually pace around while talking and making random noises (echolocalia basically, and I'll mostly beep, meow, trill, make Kirby noises "poyo!", etc.,), and also hand flappy! I also like to sing to myself and have a really great range (mostly on the higher end of the spectrum), as well as decent voice acting capabilities! I mirror things alot, so if I interact with someone long enough, I'll subconsciously start mimicking them and their habits (mostly verbal quirks and accents, but physical quirks too sometimes). Very much prefer hot and humid weather and get real tried/hibernate when it gets colder. For that reason, I've got a huge nest of soft blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals.

- Hank isn't sure where you came from but he returned to the bunker with you one day and after the shock factor was over, everyone accepted it and welcomed you in

- they really like your goggles, sometimes they'll point to their own and then point to you, saying that you were matching :}

- he's got a wack mental state too, so he understands a lot of what you're going through and helps you with social cues from the other three, and just is there in general to help out

- you also help them if they feel like they need to lean onto you for comfort or help

- he actually thinks your bluntness is helpful because he's the kind of person is mostly oblivious and doesn't understand what you're saying unless you say it directly and say exactly what you mean

handwriting / note-taking headcanons

hinata: brightly colored notebooks. messy, large handwriting. definitely goes out of the margins. not overly concerned with appearance (and this makes rereading his notes really hard). no real preference for pen or pencil. his backpack is a bit of a mess, so writes with whatever he grabs first.

kageyama: blue, black, and gray notebooks. prefers pens. medium sized handwriting. not very pretty, but readable. presses really hard into the paper though. either zones out and takes zero notes or writes down everything the teacher says.

nishinoya: likes to tear papers out of his notebooks. large, scribbly handwriting. uses pencils only. lots of erasing, but just uses the eraser on the pencil. as a result, lots of smudges. has probably torn through the paper a couple times while trying to erase something. chews on his pencils when trying to think.   

akaashi: small, neat writing. very organized notes, but nothing too fancy or overdone. prefers pen over pencil. probably uses white-out (if he ever messes up) (that’s a big if). simple but fancy stationery (if that makes sense?). the kind of guy to do math in pen. 

bokuto: disorganized mess. always thinks he doesn’t have a pencil but actually has a stash of stolen ones at the bottom of his backpack. the guy who asks to borrow a pencil and never gives it back. large, messy handwriting. no one can read it. never buys pens, just uses the free ones people / companies give out.

kuroo: seems a bit disheveled (it’s the hair) but knows where everything is. uses black and blue pens. red for corrections (almost never used). writes subject names on the front of his spirals. medium, neat handwriting. notes are lowkey better than the teacher’s. lots of diagrams. scribbles on the side to test his pens.

oikawa: loopy, pretty handwriting. doodles on the sides when he gets bored. aesthetically pleasing notes in class. uses pens and colored highlighters to make it look nice. rewrites notes to review and these are unreadable but no one else sees them so who cares. surprisingly detailed notes. makes flashcards for vocab.

iwaizumi: short, pointy handwriting. alternates between pen and pencil. notes are direct and to the point. very clean and organized. sometimes oikawa draws in the margins and iwa has to rip out the page and rewrite it. surprisingly good method for studying.

sakusa: always carries like 3-4 pens with him. will never lend out one if anyone asks though bc who knows where their hands have been. small, clear handwriting. clear and concise. very easy to study. never shares his notes or homework answers. likes typing his notes, but not always allowed in class.

hoshiumi: large, scribbly-but-readable handwriting. notes seem chaotic at first glance. good information there though. likes pencils bc he can erase if he makes a mistake. likes colored notebooks. has a lot of cute stationary things (as gifts from his mother), but only used them for a few days. tried and failed to keep a planner. still manages to finish everything on time though (mostly).

tendo: extremely chaotic notes. loves colorful pens. also uses a lot of markers, even though they bleed through the page. he doesn’t care. buys spirals with pictures / designs on the covers. large, scribbly, and kinda loopy handwriting. also likes funky pencil bags. he used to get bullied about this but he still likes it

my 2D headcanons!!

this man is the sweetest mf ever i’m telling y’all i’m so in love with him

-i will die on the hill that is trans 2D. he started testosterone pre phase one and got top surgery between phases one and two

-due to his mom being a nurse and him having a pretty thick medical history, he's really good when it comes to taking care of medical related things. he always seems to know what to do when someone is sick no matter what the cause is

-this man will go on for HOURS about his special interests and it's adorable because his eyes light up and he talks with his hands a LOT

-i said ace was real touchy feely and stuart is on the same level. this man thrives on physical affection. these two are the clingiest mfs on the planet which worked out wonderfully when ace was in the band because they were constantly hanging off of each other. movie nights? they were cuddled up together. casually sitting at a table together? one of them had their feet in the others lap. ace would let him braid his hair and stu would tell him stories about doing noodles hair when she was little

-he and ace are arcade masters, do not expect ANYTHING if you're with them and they're playing seriously. he will let someone win if they seem bummed out abt losing to much tho and he will totally spend his tickets to get cute things for his friends

-when he gets nervous or distracted, he'll fidget with literally anything in reach, so the band will buy him fidget toys every now and then if he loses them. he draws little doodles on his page corners and chews on his pens/pencils

-he chews on a lot of stuff actually, like draw strings and his sweater sleeves and especially drink straws. sometimes he'll gnaw of his cigarettes if he zones out. he can't cook that well but he still tries sometimes and he actually makes a really good full english (i feel like it would be a bit blasphemous if he couldn’t)

-stuart '2D' harold pot, aka king of leaving dirty dishes and laundry everywhere. his room is full of empty tea cups and dirty plates and half drank water bottles. he leaves his dirty clothes on the bathroom floor after showers

-sticky notes. everywhere. he makes notes to remember something then forgets he made the note in the first place and every empty space on his desk is covered with them

-he LOVES small creatures, especially bugs. he used to leave his window open all day in the hopes that a bug or bird would come in and he'd get to watch it fly around but after an unfortunate bird poop accident with a rather feisty pigeon, he has since stopped doing this

-stu really likes little house plants but he's kinda shit at taking care of them so one year noodle got him a low maintenance succulent and he was over the fucking moon, about it he was so happy

-stuart loves to tinker with literally anything. he'll go out of his way to buy household appliances he doesn't need just so he can take them and put them back together, he loves seeing how things fit together and work

-he sleeps curled up in a little ball and he always hugs something in his sleep it's very adorable

-he may always be cast as the empty headed soft boy but homie is actually wicked smart, he just forgets things a lot and has some trouble processing things sometimes. he CANONICALLY has a law degree hello??? that shit takes brain power. he knows at least a little bit abt a lot, he knows a lot abt his special interests, and he’s always willing to learn something new

-he gets mad whenever he thinks abt when fidget spinners/cubes got really popular and banned from most schools because he knows they're really helpful and it annoys him to no end that neurotypicals ruined it for people who need them to help them focus

-any time he's concentrating on something, his tongue pokes out a little bit and he's usually got a hand in his hair playing with it if he isn't using both of them

-stu gives great massages. it's a perk of having big pianist hands. however he's always worried he's pressing too hard so he's really apprehensive until he knows the person he's massaging is comfy

-he loves funky socks (this is more canon than hc but shut up) anytime he goes anywhere that sells eccentric socks he'll buy at least three pairs he doesn't have. the band always gets him new ones for his birthday n shit too

-ever the avid gamer, he always keeps tabs on gaming news. he's totally a playstation main. his favorite console of all time is the ps2 and the switch is his close second. he doesn't mind pc gaming but he isn't best at it

-he can get very philosophical and loves late night talks about life and it's meaning. he loves watching russ do taxidermy projects as well. he gets a bit sad thinking abt how the animals are dead but he finds it a tiny bit comforting watching russel turn them into art

-so we know 2D canonically smells like butterscotch already but also,,, the lingering scent of percription medication. this man smells like werthers original and a pharmacy at the same time and i think that's great. with the added bit of stale cigarettes ofc

How do I end a year-- end a blog, too-- when it's been such a strong part of my life, my routine, for so long?

To the audience of maybe, what, three people that look at this, I want to say thank you. Thank you for joining me through this year, for watching as the days progress, and just... for being there.

A lot has happened, and honestly? Am I going to use this funky experimental sideblog to air out my emotions? You fucking bet I am.

I started this blog, this little project, with a simple goal in mind. I wanted to give back to one of my best friends, because I thought they deserved more than what RNG was offering. Over time, however, it... became something else. It became something for me to dedicate my time to, even if just a little, it became a reminder for when midnight neared, it became a push for me to at least doodle something every day.

I'll be the first to admit the quality of some of these days is, for lack of a better word, absolute dogshit. From me just being in a rush to me deciding I needed to see just HOW SMALL I could draw a vaguely recognizable Nessie, all of these are in no way masterpieces. And... that's okay. That's kind of how a lot of things go-- sometimes it's not your 100% best, sometimes you just have fun with it, and sometimes you draw the same thing over and over just because it's easy and hey. It looks good enough.

I've had a big problem with being a perfectionist in my past. Being embarrassed of any flaws, being mortified at the thought of anyone pointing out what I do wrong. But this... honestly, helped me through it. That my goal was "one Nessie a day", not "a perfect masterpiece a day". Not to say Nessie on his own isn't a masterpiece, but you get what I mean.

This year was rough. On a personal level, it's had some of the darkest moments I've gone through period. But... it's also had some of the brightest moments. I've lost friends, but I've also gained so many, and grown closer to those dearest to me. I got a girlfriend for goodness sakes-- and they're the whole reason this blog even exists!

It's been turbulent. At the time of writing, it's nearly five minutes left until the year turns over. But while one age might end, and even with the end of this project, it marks merely the beginning of so much more.

Good god, that's cheesy.

Anyways... I'd better get ready for the celebrations. Thank you to all for a fantastic 2020, and let's look forward to an even better 2021!

Oh honey-- you bet I do!

My two biggest tips are STUDY and PRACTICE

I use references CONSTANTLY. I took an entire year of anatomy & physiology so I could study how the body moves and connects. I study color palettes, fashion, nature, etc etc etc. You don't have to write notes! Just constantly always use references and that includes other artists! I'm not saying copy or trace but study what colors they use, their brush stroke techniques, how they move and shape bodies

Second, I learned this from Arin Hanson of Game Grumps fame and that's DRAW EVERY DAY. Literally every 👏 fuckin 👏 day. Art is a skill just like sports. The more you use your muscles on a regular basis, the better your form will be! Even if its a 1min doodle of a face, draw SOMETHING every day. By the second week, it'll be second nature. I feel like my art SKYROCKETED in quality once I drew daily

A third and final important tip is just go fucking hog wild, experiment with color and shape, sometimes just go funky and NEVER restrict your creativity. I struggle with that last one myself because its so easy to say "ugh that looks stupid don't do it" DO IT. FUCK STUPID! :D you'll regret not going weird and it'll only hold you back

Tumblr was fighting me on the reblog, so I just made a new post. Thank you so much to @spookyboywhump for tagging me in that picrew chain; I went a little overboard and had a lot of fun!

In order, these are Percival, Floyd, Llyr, Hugh, Ray, and Mabel all from my pirate universe. I’m going to go into a bit more detail under a cut because of course I am, you guys know me, so open that up if you want some excited appearance rambles!

Oh hello, welcome to the forbidden Keep Reading land! Glad to have you here. Just gonna do this list style before I start going wild with transitions or something dumb like that.

Percival - Ah, it’s been ages since we’ve seen this man, hasn’t it? If you’ve been around for a good long while, you might remember me doing a drawing of him and Floyd a while back, and details on both of their appearances have definitely shifted since then. This picrew is more accurate, especially in the hairstyle. The color should be warmer and have streaks of blond in it, but otherwise it definitely looks like him to me.

Some more details to note is that no picrew will ever get his eyes right. They should be lighter and lean a little more towards orange with yellow highlights that are especially prominent when he’s using magic. I’m not sure if he has his nose pierced in canon, but he does have his ears pierced and oh yeah those snake earrings were definitely used because of his reputation as The Serpent. And I love snakes a completely normal amount but that’s totally irrelevant definitely not a driving force what?

(fun side note: i was gonna give him the lemon background because he is a sucker for anything acidic and strong, hence his really weird obsession with vinegar that is the only thing he wants to tell  me about himself most days, but then this one looked really pretty so I kept it)

Floyd - We just saw him again if you’ve been keeping up with the Llyr and the Pirates storyline, though this picrew is based more off of his starring role and captivity in Persistence. He doesn’t have piercings in anything we’ve seen so far, but he will canonically get them at some point :D

Other than that, everything’s pretty straightforward. He’s got his collar from Percival, which is technically a more brownish leather and just a little thicker than that, and his eye color should be a little lighter, leaning towards blue-green. Oh, and I gave him a pass on my attempts at kinda realistic clothing because I thought that Floyd would absolutely love this shirt. A shame he isn’t in our time really... I think he would love a lot of funky patterns and stuff in modern fashion. aNYWAYS-

Llyr - My sealy son! I’ve really gotta see if there’s a seal picrew I could use to design his other form lol. But here’s what he’s meant to look like! I think this hairstyle was meant to be used as braids or dreadlocks, but it was the only messy looking one I could find. Because ever since Llyr turned human, his hair has been awfully maintained, and by that I mean Not At All it’s so tangled you couldn’t even pull a brush through it without a good amount of effort. But all the colors are correct here!

If I could very quickly point you in the direction of his cloak, that’s the closest I could get to the way he wears his seal skin when it’s not being taken away from him (*glares at the Offending Individual(s)*). He isn’t wearing a shirt under it because clothes are still super weird feeling to him, and he’d rather go with the bare minimum than feel fabric moving around and clinging to him all day. And he’s being assertive and indignant, because Of Course He Is.

Hugh - Aha, a design! A design for the largely descriptionless bastard man! The hair is pretty accurate for how he wears it currently, though he definitely prefers it shorter than that so it isn’t curling into his face all the time. The color should be darker, closer to a traditional brunette tone, and this picrew is so invalid only because I couldn’t give him the beard that was the only thing I pictured for so long. Hugh has a full chin beard that he also keeps fairly short, but he isn’t able to grow too much of a mustache so that stays as stubble on his upper lip. 

As for physique, he’s definitely a lot more muscley than this picrew allowed him to be. The outfit he has on is definitely close to something he got his first night on Gawain’s ship, though a little more tight fitting than it is in reality. Otherwise, I don’t have too much to say on him! Smarmy grin and half lidded eyes is his signature expression for harassing people, but those eyes open up to look a little more friendly most other times.

Ray - Ahhh my sunshine child, always trying his best! *stares at both of my story wips with him* He’s completely fine, both physically and emotionally! But I digress. Here’s Ray on a classic, happy day! This picrew did such a good job with his hair. Wavy, ending just above his shoulders, and sometimes tied up in a ponytail or bun. This honestly looks so accurate to him and I love it.

A note on his coat that also extends to Percival, this choice isn’t super accurate to his coat? Percival’s should be dark red/magenta and Ray’s should be more of a navy blue/green, and both of them should be more tailored, but these were the closest I could get them. My captains really like their fun coats (except Gawain. He likes to stick to protocol uniforms, which in the Law Abiding Business does not include a fun coat)

Mabel - Last, but certainly not least! Mabel is fantastic and this picrew fits her very very well. That shirt is definitely made of some softer flannel-ish material and she wears it on windier or brisker days. Those stripey shirts are some of her favorite patterns aside from No Pattern. 

Oh and her hair I really had a blast making here. It wasn’t working out at first because there aren’t a whole lot of options, but I thought to have her put it up and then include that little braid bit and with some curly bangs and little loose bits on the side it really came together! Yellow looked cute with her and I didn’t want the beautiful fruit backgrounds to go to waste, so I gave her some lemons because why not. 

Ah and one last note. The only reason y’all aren’t getting a Gawain picrew as well is because 1) even numbers,,,, good,,,,, and actually because 2) he looked absolutely cursed in this picrew and it didn’t represent him quite as well as I’d like. Maybe I’ll doodle him out sometime so you guys can see what he looks like....

FROG!! 

ok so hes a liddol baby . he likes to hang out with sand ! theyre best friends and sometimes go to beaches and other places together. he’s very sweet and a little quiet. just a baby.

speaking of sand here they are!!! they dont talk much but when they do it sometimes freaks cookies out due to it being a drippy sand hole like

frog doesnt care about it too much . sometimes he tries to put sticks or something in their mouth just to see what’d happen. sand just eats the stick

rabbit’s foot is ! very lucky to say the least. hes also pretty gullible and easily fall for tricks but due to his luck they never seem to work out. very rarely does something harmful happen to him, though things like disappointing or saddening other cookies can happen. 

SPEAKING of disappointing or saddening cookies... fun dip! he’s often disappointed due to his tricks not working on rabbit’s foot but that only motivates him more. someone once said he looks like he’d be gumballs brother and honestly that’d be a chaotic pair of siblings (while im hesitant about canon relations with ocs..... who cares????). so yeah fun dip and gumball are brothers. 

rabbit’s foot is very much like a young child (though he is aware of a lot of things, he just has a personality alike to a young child. not a brain alike to a young child) and fun dip is a goofball prankster.

almond is very grumpy and they want to be a powerful wizard . honestly if they knew how to contact de or find her they would. also they are very emotional but tend to bottle it up (becuase in their tags on their ref its like “bad boy or crybaby” and i was like ‘’ok both’’). 

they dont hang around cookies often

and now for your local gamer boy. basically mlg jokes all the way around. mtn dew cookie references all that old stuff! theyre likely aware of other things too but theyre like “ah, nah, no thanks bro lolololol” and somehow they have that one robotic male voice? you know  the one in all of cowbelly’s videos that reads the memes? yeah that one. idk how to describe it

they also live off of doritos! besides their pet because it’s kind of obvious that’s a different dorito (plus g4m3r br0 has been existing for a while so it’d taste bad)

garlic cooky! hes a dad and he’s married but that was on ponytown . i made him when me, kiley, and jamie decided to make a lil oc family . kiley made bread cookie his husband and jamie made butter, their daughter. garlic cookie had a very chaotic family when we all actualy messed around on there !

he also adopted some one’s herb pony on ponytown who acted very feral . we joked about dog with a blog because garlic called him the family dog . garlic cookie thinks toe toe (what he named the feral herb) is a dog unironically. like legit. also he’s a vampire ! he’s allergic to himself but isn’t dead yet somehow.

i could talk more about his family but yeah ! 

ravioli ravioli give me the formuoli (this oc was made on ponytown as well ! she acts like plankton) 

she is a gremlin. pretty small. why is there so much evil in you, little cookie? also i was playing with styles in that doodle so like  ? if you want me to draw in that style a bit more then just mention it

ngl i dont like how i doodled corn dog in that one but! corn dog is a baseball player and she’s very much ur classic jock. but nicer. she will want to play with you no matter what you want to play she loves ball games ! considering shipping her with orange cookie for some reason idk why but. if you want corn dog x orange then ig just ask for it sdkljdsljskl ;) i might doodle it too. corn dog x orange x lime? maybe but probably not since it seems like lime would get too jealous too easily

gasoline cookie! i only made this character just recently on ponytown. he is very tired and lacking energy and is overall soggy in a sense. party pooper and very serious. i made this guy because i was joking like “if there were a gasoline they’d have a tension with fire spirit thats like ‘’DONT DRINK MY HAIR’’ or something” and then i made him

they are a very sweet cookie who wishes to befriend many aliens! they’ve learned many languages and often mixes things up (as in, like, you know, accidentally saying an alien idiom in english or an english idiom in alien, forgetting words from either language then trying to describe it then BAM remembering. probably said an alien idiom in ANOTHER alien language while speaking in an english conversation). they know plenty of written languages and honestly? they try so hard to make sure every one is heard. theyre not very professional and theyre kinda bad at driving a ship

oooo gosh this ones trickyy!! there are so many good outfits out there, especially in the scene community!! but it’d have to have a few tiny elements of dr cosplay to add a lil of my dangan-weeb culture in there ofc! more specifically, id really love to get one of kazuichis jumpsuit and just wig out and add shit like this just because i could:
