so marian “i answer to no one” chandler is the middle child of the chandler kids and definitely has the most chaotic energy of the three. don’t even fight me on this one, it’s just facts.

ever since she was young, marian has always been a bit of an attention-seeker. perhaps she was just confident... or suffering from middle child syndrome, but either way her tinker bell complex has made her quite bold and reckless or — as she prefers — confident and adventurous.

marian is not as smart as she lets on. sure, she’s got street smarts and some wit to get by but when it’s time to hit the books, just about nothing can drill through her brain. she definitely needs a tutor, she knows she does, but she’s way too stubborn and has got way too much pride to admit it.

up until six months ago, she was in a relationship with her older brother’s best friend. they’d been dating for about a year and a half (in fact their two-year anniversary was supposed to be around late march) but unfortunately he passed away in a car accident on his way home from a party.

marian was understandably devastated. he was the only person she was genuinely in love with and one of the very few people who knew everything about her (as cliche as it sounds). his death has taken quite the toll on her and has made colder and angrier. she’s been told many times over that he was responsible for his own death but she doesn’t buy it, choosing to put the blame on her brother instead.

except,,, she kind of blames herself too. basically, the two had a huge argument that ended with her boyfriend going home with her brother instead of her. she feels partially responsible for his death, mainly because she was the reason for their argument; another case of “marian being marian”. in a way, her stubborn antics contributed to the untimely death of her boyfriend.

( 0/1 ) best friend: the only person other than her boyfriend who knows her inside and out. how long they’ve been friends can be plotted out, but they were there for marian during her boyfriend’s death and they were the only person she let in.

( 0/1 ) tutor: DEAR GOD SHE NEEDS ONE SO BADLY. they could just be a classmate of hers who’s noticed her performance and wants to lend a helping hand or they’re one of the smartest kids in class so their teacher appointed then to tutor marian. either way marian hates it so she’s being Difficult.

( 0/1 ) good influence: the angel on her shoulder. although they rarely ever win, they do their best to keep marian in line and try to stop her from doing anything stupid. they may or may not be the one hiding her packs of cigarettes when they mysteriously disappear from under her mattress.

( 0/?? ) party pals: they only ever talk while under the influence of alcohol at parties. other than that they don’t consider each other friends and they don’t talk at all anywhere else.

( 0/?? ) smoking buddies: similar to party pals but this time they only ever talk when they smoke under the bleachers or behind the school. sometimes marian bums cigarettes off of them when the good influence steals hers.

( 0/1 ) bad influence: someone younger than her whom she’s a bit of a bad influence on. they could be someone pure and naive that marian trying to taint or they’re following in her footsteps so she’s kind of just,,, encouraging them.

( 0/3 ) exes: excluding her dead boyfriend, marian has three exes in total. the first one was in second grade, they dated for the whole of recess and marian broke up with him because cooties. the second one was in middle school, they were her first kiss. the third one was sometimes around freshman or sophomore year. for a while marian actually thought they were the one, but seven months into their relationship they cheated on her so she dumped them.

( 0/1 ) in-denial crush: ooooohhh boy. i might make this a wc on the main if no one takes it, but here’s the plot — marian hides it really well, but she's been kind of a mess ever since her boyfriend’s death. but ever since they came into their life (or came back if you want them to be one of her exes) she’s slowly been moving on. obviously, it didn’t happen overnight. after all, it’s only been six months. but the more they spend time together, the more marian’s beginning to catch feelings for them. she’s terrified, rightfully. she lost her boyfriend, whom she loved, only half a year ago but now she’s out here falling for someone else. if they feel the same way it’s definitely a will-they-won’t-they situation but either way marian feels weird around them, and they’re starting to pick that up.
