Jikook Week 17 Complete ✔️(02/04-09/04/2024)

Their seventeenth week in the military is now complete. It's time to celebrate this milestone with a look back at this week in 2019.

This week marked the end of the original Love Yourself Tour which took place between August 2018 and April 2019*. On the 5th April, BTS headed to Thailand for two nights at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.

The concerts were on the 6th and 7th April 2019. There is a full recording of the second day which I have included here. You can even pick out the song you want to watch from the index. As well as group songs, there is the Jikook Euphoria and Serendipity solos.

On the 7th, after the concert, Jimin also posted on Twitter "I am truly happy that this LY tour ended successfully. It was thanks to our ARMYs who supported us and loved us. We worked hard on this album too, so please look forward to it. Please look forward to the next tour as well. Thank you and love you"

BTS headed back to Seoul the next day but there was no time to relax. As Jimin mentioned in his Tweet they were already gearing up for the release of Map of the Soul: Persona on the 12th April 2019.

The lead song was Boy with Luv featuring Halsey.

This week some of the concept photos for the new album dropped with Jimin looking particularly devastating with peach hair.

This photoshoot also included the Jikook matching Loverboy fits.

Have you noticed how kpop promos lean heavily into oral? It's difficult to miss here what with the toothbrushes, the fruit and even the roses and Jikook aren't even the worst offenders. Look at Namjoon and Hoseok here. Okay okay, my attention has been duly directed. I see what you did there.

On 10th April they headed off to the US to promote the new album.

It really was non-stop!

Welcome to Booklr Reads Australian 2023!

In 2019, I challenged booklrs everywhere to pick up some Australian novels in August to try and help people discover the wonderful books being published Down Under. Now, in 2023, we’re going to give it another go!

all you have to do is read as many Australian novels as you want to during the month of August. you could read 1, you could read 20, it’s entirely up to you. all that matters is that you give it a fair go.

the only structured part of the challenge will be the Saturday check-ins, where I’ll just put up a little post for us all to come together and talk about what we’ve picked up that week. those will be on August 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th this year.

apart from that, how you mark the challenge is up to you. last time people took photos, wrote reviews, made recommendations, and even hosted discussions to get conversations going

just make sure to tag any posts you make with “#Booklr Reads Australian” so that everyone can find your posts. that will also be the tag I’ll check to reblog things and to make any announcements during the course of the challenge. “#Read Australian” is a good tag to use for any Australian book and “#LoveOzYA” is for YA books.

2011 Haylor Timeline

Timeline Tag We don’t know the whole story. Harry and Taylor have never said when they met or started dating, often assumed to have met At the March 2012 Kids Choice Awards, because it was the first time we saw them together. more.

A source close to Taylor later said to Vanity Fair he had chased her for a year, before the started dating, before he kissed Emily Ostily on the 21 April 2012 and Taylor posted about infidelities to Instagram on 23 April 2012 (they cannon met 24 days earlier). They were in the same city and locations throughout 2011. In 2014 Taylor told Rolling Stone:

"People think they know the whole narrative of my life, I think maybe that line is there to remind people that there are really big things they don’t know about."

As Taylor said to Time Magazine in 2023 and Harry said to Howard Stern in 2019 it's not in their interests for a new relationship to be public before they are solid.  In Harry's words 'it's never benefited me' for a relationship to be public. In 2011 people were sent death threats for having dinner with Harry.

3 August - Harry's name first appeared in the Sun newspaper

12 December - X factor semi final, 1D third, Syco signed One Direction for £2 million, each boy was only paid an initial £8,000. Maybe signed on the 13th.

13 December - Jake not at Taylor’s birthday, in January announce broke up in December. It was 7 weeks.

4 January - Taylor seen in LA on the 5th January then not again for a month.

25-30 January 1D fly to Los Angeles. The Sun reported they were in US meeting writers and producers to start recording. It's likely they first met here.

5 February - Taylor seen for first time in a month, in LA, wearing the Key necklace in LA. It later appeared in the I knew you were trouble music video (4:45) and was sold as merchandise, there was a key for Fearless too, but it stopped after this.

19 February - 9 April; X-Factor live tour. TS tour break 20 & 21, 20th was X Factor O2 show.

16 March - Taylor's Lover Journal talks about Paris, seeing castles, 4th grade and career anxiety over the Mean video. She talks about visiting having visited Neuschwanstein Castle that later appears in Bejewelled MV.

17 March - Taylor plays speak now in Paris at Zénith de Paris, in park bordered by Canal Saint-Denis, (technically) outside Saint-Denis.  Holy ground's secret message is “when you came to the show in SD” later the film clips for Begin Again, EHC, Falling and LOT tour images all reference canals in Paris. Taylor plays Soul Sister / Fearless mash-up for the first time that show. Soul Sister was Harry's first X-Factor Audition song. She plays the mash-up on/off for the rest of the tour and on the DVD.

21 March - Taylor in London Recording Studio wearing a rose dress key from IKYWT video. Taylor wore a Rose ring and Rose Dress the day before too.

Like, actually grateful for every second of the day. I've notice this onset for a while, but it's really hit me in the last week and especially since I wrote those 2 new songs. I'm happy I get to meet so many people on the road who make me feel like my music really matters to them.” One song may be State of Grace.

The film clip included scenes on a train, the SBT message is "when you were on the train", she wrote it sometime on a bus. Speak Now dates in Colorado, Utah and Georgia. However, 28 September is possibly an anniversary and in the Four hang out (31-33) Harry said gotta be you was his favourite 1D song of all, which Niall clapped and said “well done Taylor your boyfriends back”. Harry met Emily Ostilly.

24 November Sugarscope asks if they have an eye on anyone in the US and mention Taylor Swift, all 5 are actually quiet for the first time, Liam’s face changes to serious (0:34), Harry and Zayn look at Louis, maybe because of Oct 4. Niall offers Demi Lovato and all the boys start saying Hollywood in a silly voice. The same interviewer asks about romantic Christmas plans, Louis looks at Harry again, Harry answers truthfully “Christmas at home with family” seems the interviewer and band know what’s not being said, they ask Harry twice

30 December - Harry got his drivers licence, on 28 June 2012 on Bert show (11 mins) said “the first thing I did was my …….. someone brought the car to me and I dropped them off at the pub” Harry was in Manchester. Louis posted he was in Paris Disneyland with Eleanor. Apart from the winter/snow on the beach photos Taylor hadn't been seen for a week, she then posted a goodbye and Harry's first drive was to drop someone secret somewhere. 👀

3 January - Caroline Break up announcement. Harry later tweets, he 'didn't dump' her, he never said they were more than friends. Caroline also said "95% of what was reported was false".

Shakespeareans In Love Masterlist

Story Summary: While browsing the Internet one day, as one does when he or she is bored, I noticed that Tom Hiddleston and Isabelle Fuhrman had a lot in common. If they met now, I'm sure they'd be good friends. However, I wondered what their relationship would be today if they'd met several years ago. Well, I answer that in this story.

In this, there are references to a fictional TV show in the Star Wars universe called "Alderaan Tales." It chronicles the adventures of a group of women on Alderaan. The characters in that TV show are in another of my stories called "Knights and Ladies" found on AO3. Isabelle Fuhrman plays Christi Douglas, Florence Pugh plays Nicki Long, and Alicia Vikander plays Kiara Avery. Also, I provide links to what Tom and Isabelle look like and wear to certain events in case you need a visual. I've also posted this on AO3.

Did we almost get a The Man From U.N.C.L.E. sequel?

It brokes my heart to say it, but we can't deny that the MASTERPIECE of a movie that is 2015 The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was a financial flop. On a budget of $75 million, it only managed to gross $110 million worldwide. It's clear a sequel was not on the cards...

And yet, with years the movie managed to find an audience. An audience that got progressively more vocal about wanting a sequel. But probably the loudest voice was the one of (2015) Illya Kuryakin himself: Armie Hammer.

He released multiple quotes about wanting to make a sequel and talking about it with Lionel Wigram (writer and producer of the movie). Obviously, though, nothing came out of it for years...

Until the 5th of May 2020.

Out of the blue, the twitter and instagram accounts for the movie came back to life with a post celebrating Henry Cavill's birthday.

Now, that's suspicious. That's odd.

Why bother since the account had been dead for 5 years? As you can see, before that, their last twitter post had been a retweet (about someone speaking the truth!) from 2015. What was this really about?

The instagram account then posted about Black Lives Matter on May 31.

The accounts went dormant again until August 28 of the same year. This time, with a post celebrating Armie Hammer's birthday.

On November 2020, Armie Hammer posted this to his instagram stories:

Sure, like I said before, Armie multiple times mentioned the fact that he and Wigram would talk about a sequel... But this direct call to action? Considering that the official accounts had started posting again, is it possible that something was finally happening behind the scenes?

Also, the scene from the movie The Gentlemen (2019) directed by Guy Ritchie (the man behind TMFU as well) where a character says that the movie he's working on "Needs a sequel" with a The Man From U.N.C.L.E. poster behind him, took a slightly different connotation after all this.

Maybe after 5 years, we were going to get something more than "It might happen one day!". Maybe there were some chances Warner Brothers wanted to bet on a sequel? Could it finally go into production?

Well, we didn't have to wait long to find out an answer to this because in January 2021 this happened:

If at the end of 2020, the chances of a sequel might have risen up to 5%, after this they precipitated back to 0% again. A sequel for this itineration or The Man From U.N.C.L.E. simply wasn't meant to be.

On May 5th 2021 the official accounts, shared another post to celebrate Henry's birthday. But since then, the accounts have gone radio silent again.

As I'm writing this (22/01/2025) the 10th anniversary of the movie (August 14, 2015) is approaching us. I'm left wondering, will the accounts come back for one last post? I highly doubt it. For one reason: Armie Hammer. He was once the movie's stronger supporter, but now, he has become the most toxic thing about it.

So, did we almost get a The Man From U.N.C.L.E. sequel?

Even with these "receipts" I doubt it. However, I still find it curious that the official accounts started posting again so randomly. What was the point? We'll probably never find out... But I just can't stop thinking about it.

(S1E4) Infinity Train: How Companies Disrespect Animated Shows PART 2

This is part two to my previous post about The Owl House and how companies disrespect animation, so go read that first if you haven’t already! 

Infinity Train, oh where to start… Well, it first aired in 2019 on Cartoon Network and was created by Owen Dennis. It started as a 1-season miniseries but was quickly turned into an anthology series with a planned 8 seasons. As an anthology, it follows different stories set in the same universe, surrounding a common setting, which is the titular “Infinity Train”. The train, as you might assume, is a train with an infinite amount of cars, that goes on for eternity in a lifeless wasteland. It’s an unexplained place where those who have personal issues/traumas are transported and are able to work through them by making their way through each of the huge, unique cars on the train.

After 2 seasons, the show was moved to HBO Max (now simply called Max for some reason) and continued for 2 more seasons before getting cancelled. The 5th season, which was in early production, was canned for not having a “child entry point”, though the show is a mature cartoon, and is able to be enjoyed by people of all ages. The rest of the story, though bits and pieces have been revealed, will never see the light of day. 

Now here’s where things go even more downhill. In August of 2022, Infinity Train, along with 36 other shows (20 of which were originals, and 14 being cartoons) were being removed from the platform, many of which aren’t available anywhere else, meaning unless you have a physical copy of it, you have no way of being able to legally watch it. And such is the fate of Infinity Train. What makes it all even worse is that many people involved with the shows weren’t notified whatsoever about their removal, and the only reason for their removal is due to cutting costs. 

Oh, ANOTHER THING. While I was researching for this blog, I found out that according to a crew member, the first 4 seasons, the unfinished 5th season, and a Christmas special were all part of a singular season order. This means that even though 4 seasons aired, the writers were only paid for a single season's worth of content. This show has gone through hell and back, and if that wasn't enough on its own, the crew wasn't even paid fairly. Just... wow.

…When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming an animator, sharing my ideas with the world in the form of a cartoon show. That dream has long since been abandoned (though I still help other people with their projects, and work on my little original universes for my own enjoyment), but as more and more time goes on, and as stuff like this keeps happening not only to Infinity Train, but to so many other cartoons, I feel a sort of bittersweetness. I’m relieved that I didn’t make my way into an industry that would Thanos snap all my hard work away for no good reason, but it SUCKS that I have to feel good about not pursuing my passion. Art should be appreciated, not thrown in the trash to save a few dollars. Beautiful, mature, interesting and well-made art, no matter the medium.

So that’s all for this post. Sorry to end on such a downer, haha… Hopefully the next one will be happier? Actually, no. The next one WILL be happier.

EDIT: Asuka was officially born December 5th we have her birthday reveal

I came up with this background as a plot point for my fic, but I do believe it's the most likely explanation until we get the official story. Here's the DMs with my base idea that I'll flesh out in some detail (and for that reason I'm putting this under read more just to save dash space for people):

So it's the mid to late 90's, young Kazama guy going through university fresh out of high school tough boy antics because his parents insist he get a future for himself. He takes his classes but his real passion is still in the dojo and the streets. Over time he's messing around with his friends only applying himself enough to stay enrolled because there is something in him that wants to make his parents happy, but does know he needs something to make a living that wouldn't be scraping by, deep deep down.

In one of his classes he meets a young woman he really gets along with for once. The kind of person who surprises him by how strong willed she is under the glitz and glamour ditz she appears to be. They get involved seriously, his friends are happy for him but mom and dad don't approve so much first because she seems a brash bimbo, then because they can sense her ambition. She's too ambitious for him, but he can't see it yet. Slowly he gets himself on track with schooling because now in his mind he can see a life with this woman, and when they graduate and move in for a while, he proposes.

His fiance isn't really impressed with his means of living still being not great, just below average, as he took a business degree in the hopes of turning his family dojo around. Now that he's out he has to actually do the work for that. But she still thinks he can pull something out his ass, he's good looking, he treats her well because he really loves her, and she does care for him. So she stays shoving down her insecurity.

Asuka is conceived before they have the wedding ceremony so it's obvious the mother's starting to show her pregnancy by the time they do get hitched, which makes the entire situation humiliating for the family as it looks like a shotgun wedding. This is the first instance where Asuka's mother starts hearing people drag her through the mud for her situation, which sows doubt in her mind.

Months pass, the dojo starts doing better but it's a slow start. There's been a few times where as a rookie business owner her husband has bitten off more than he can chew and has both skirted debt and had to resolve a few small debts , at times taking gambles in his strategy to stay afloat. Good assets or not their baby is coming and this lifestyle is looking more and more like it'll only be a stick in the mud. She was hoping for a head start after college, because the timeline to become as successful as she wants to be is ticking, and she knows one day she'll wake up old, unaccomplished. Paired with all the swings and difficulties of pregnancy, how people perceive them as mediocre etc. Asuka's mom is hitting the bottom in her heart.

Asuka is born August 21st 2001 (her birthday is my headcanon since we don't know and she seems like a summer baby; her birth year is speculated using this post someone did investigating the year Tekken 7 took place using game manual info, which going into 8 would have turned to 2019, placing her as born in 2001 since she's now 18)

Now having to take care of a baby on top of everything else, the couple start arguing more and more. Finally one day after a few weeks planning Asuka's mom secures her assets, files for divorce, and ensures she'd be set up in the aftermath to take enough from her husband's assets too. This allows her to run off with a chunk of cash enough for a new set up somewhere else. Ichirou is left broken watching her get in a taxi and drive away despite trying to convince her to still be in their child's life. Instead he's left holding the pudgy crying baby he's now stuck with. Alone.

He loves his daughter dearly and now she's all he has aside from the business and his devotion to martial arts. This whole incident tightens up his attitude in general; his old friends find it harder to see shades of who he used to be under this sharper person they now know. He throws himself into training, doing more than staying afloat etc. isolating himself in a sense to do anything he can securing Asuka a future.

He won't bring his child around his extended family because well, they were never there for him. They looked down on his half of the family, and there's still a lingering scar young Ichirou felt at being excluded plus naturally having them out of mind because of their distance anyway. They won't be a bad influence on Asuka if they do the same to her and make her feel similar. Then when she's eleven, everyone dies. He doesn't get a clear picture of the details because it's all a mess and the press has no solid idea about Ogre as the massacre gets covered up.

But eventually enough gets passed through the branch family grapevine that he knows whatever killed everyone was specifically drawn to Kazamas. It was drawn to power. Drawn to battle and challenge strength. A wild force beyond control that obviously could overpower dozens of trained warriors and priests/priestesses. There's whispers suspecting a single boy made it out alive (ie. Jin) which is his only comfort. But now he has to think about himself and his child; that whatever came for the family is now running loose drawn to powerful people.

If Asuka lives like as normal a girl as possible and doesn't see anything in her family beyond a single dad and some dinky little dojo, she'll have no reason to be an obvious target. She'll have no ambition to get involved in anything beyond a normal life. Then of course with the rise of the Mishima Zaibatsu and all their antics intensifying, they would also be a threat- there's the rumor that lone boy who survived was fathered by a Mishima after all.

The angles from which he could lose his child to powerful forces increase; Ichirou makes the choice to never tell Asuka how deep their family runs, about her heritage, or the circumstance of her birth in his past. She grows up knowing life without a mother too. He couldn't bring himself to remarry and bring yet another person in he'd have to protect under this cover; in the back of his mind his wife's actions still linger.

Allowing Asuka to learn Kazama-Ryu is purely to instill discipline in her, and because she really wants to be like Dad. He can't say no to her. However she does learn in a way that would still leave her declawed enough that it makes her less likely to attract the thing that killed their family. The older she gets she shows no signs of awakening Kazama powers either, giving her father a false sense of security that she can pass as no one special.

This of course, will all backfire as Asuka's life is flipped upside down starting with the events of Tekken 5. All of which lead to her growing much stronger, on top of how she already drew attention to herself with her nosy battle seeking ways.

So in trying to protect Asuka, life eventually spoke otherwise and pulled her in a direction her father never wanted for her. Except because of his protective meddling she's ignorant on herself, and any knowledge that would allow her to be prepared for what she ends up encountering.

(And Lili canonically knows Asuka's bloodlines and can deduce that Asuka doesn't know and wouldn't be aware of what abilities are sleeping inside her, abilities that could directly drag her into the Mishima Conflict for her potential dealing with Devil. Anyways LET'S GO BOYS, buckle the seatbelts and set up the parachutes cause this one's messy (cue faint laughter) too.

Context : so Leo Messi was signed at 13 yo at FCB, and is therefore considered a La Masia (club's academy) product, such as the likes of Iniesta, Xavi (current coach), Piqué, Puyol, etc, and more recently Gavi, Fati, etc. He did his whole club career there, from 2000 (with the Junior team) till 2021; was widely seen as a one-club man who'd end his career there, at the club of his life. Despite this though, everything wasn't all unicorns and pink sparkles and his relationship with the club wavered several times, and hard.

There were first rumors about a departure in 2014, but the death of Tito Vilanova (Barca assistant/coach and close to Leo) changed that (common version is that Tito asked him to stay at the club, Leo obliged). A year later in 2015, very strong movements about him possibly moving to Chelsea after rumored failing relationship with then coach Luis Enrique. Everything kind of calmed down until Neymar's departure in 2017; Leo was one of several players who entered in a sort of cold war with the board for failing to find a proper replacement for Neymar. A bit of calm again, until in August 2020, small bombshell: Messi's side sent a burofax (the trolling on twitter was funny asf ngl) expressing his desire to part ways with the club. By then, under the presidency of Bartomeu, the club was a clear mess in and off the pitch and getting out of one of its worst seasons ever (2019 - 2020). Ensued a very public back and forth argument between Messi's side and the club (about which ex players and ex managers also expressed their opinions, somehow), at the end of which Messi eventually refused to take the matter to court (« I would never go to court against the club of my life » alright, let me indulge in that quote a bit, a girl needs some soothing).

So he started the 2020 - 2021 season to go til the end of his contract, which was to end on July 1st, 2021. Didn't deter him from openly speaking against the club, though, the guy was pissed off and made it known (criticizing the way Luis Suarez, FCB striker since 2014 and close friend of Leo, was shamefully let go from the club: « at this stage nothing surprises me any more [about the club] »). The season finished in May 2021, and by that time, despite very mediocre results, it's said he'd changed his mind and wanted to stay at the club, wanted to sign a contract extension. On July 1st, contract expired, he becomes a free agent (meaning any club can sign him) in the middle of the Copa America he's playing with Argentina.

Now, ensue one of the most messy couple of weeks ever. We don't really know what happened because several versions were given: it's all image/media manipulation on who fucked who, who's at fault, who tried, etc. Basically, it's Laporta v. Messi's side. I would direct you to this twitter thread that gives the player's version. Broken down simply, everything seemed to have been agreed for a renewal; Leo spend the 2021 Copa America (DALE CAMPEON) persuaded that it was just a matter of days/weeks until he'd sign the renewal. Until, very suddenly, on August 5th, Laporta called it all off and said the deal wouldn't go through; FCB wouldn't renew Messi.

Of the reasons that were invoked, the crucial point remains the obvious financial struggles the club was going through (had been for long time, it was kind of the tipping point). Messi's wages were declared too expensive and endangering for the club, despite Messi reportedly agreeing to a 50% or 75% - versions vary - wages cut (something no other player in the dressing room agreed to); Laporta said he was putting the club's safety above all else. So, by early August 2021, Messi was left with no club, his agent/father having rejected multiple times multiple offers (such as City's) in July, thinking a new deal was to be concluded shortly with FCB.

BOOM. Do you hear that? That's oil money, babe. Enter our dear trashcan of a club, PSG. PSG's sporting director, Leonardo, had left the door ajar for Jorge Messi, just in case: that's were Jorge went, for lack of other options, when Laporta called the FCB deal off at the ending month of the summer transfer window. There were strong links for Messi to go to PSG: the French locker room comprised several close Argentine friends & teammates with whom he'd just won the Copa America (Paredes, Di Maria) and another close friend in Neymar, who'd never stopped dreaming about playing with Leo again and was all too eager to make Leo come to PSG. These guys pushed for him to come to the club; it assured him some familiarity amidst what was a career & life earthquake - change of club, of league, of country. PSG immediately facilitated everything, and in a matter of days, the deal was concluded. (Upon which our very own Brazilian 222M transfer posted Instagram stories of him watching Neymar/Messi edits on Youtube to celebrate Leo's coming. I got no words. Istg we should disect the man's brains.)

The infamous press conf given by Leo was reportedly rushed by Laporta's side, who wanted to get accross Laporta's version of what had happened as quickly and controlled as possible.

Messi's departure broke several links: commercially wise, important sponsors withdrew from the club and from La Liga. Personally wise, his friendship with Piqué (it's said Piqué, friend dating all the way back to the La Masia days, was the one who told Laporta getting Messi off would help the club's finances), which Messi took as a treason (they still don't talk to this day). Messi's relationship with Laporta took a hit too, I mean, like, was completely broken as well. That's partly why until a few months ago it seemed impossible for him to come back, with a relationship to a club's president as severed as theirs was/is. The overnight U turn of Laporta deprived Messi from having options (City, were his ex manager Pep Guardiola is) and forced him to chose under the pressure of time, the fact that if Laporta had decided to make the older players in the locker room take a wage cut as well, with the amount of revenue Messi generates for the club, he could have stayed, the cold media war over which version was the truth, the press conference, etc.

It's messy as fuck. But unlike Neymar's departure, it's not coming from the player, but rather a player evicted from the club (with reason or not; I'm not judging, just stating), so it's less of asking from where/why the decision comes from, and more why/was it necessary to.
