somehow, he has grown fond of it.

the stairwell to the university apartments is, for as much as tuition is at such a prestigious academy, poorly sound-proofed. noise spills in through unsealed door gaps and thin walls. riddle's mother insisted on him avoiding the housing in central campus where trey and cater live-- something about distractions and other such frivolities-- and thus, here he is, in a less-than-luxurious accommodation far from any of his classes or friends. as expected. after switching his major going into his junior year from pre-med to pre-law, his mother's decisions regarding his education were just as icy as the glares she sent his way over silent dinners on holiday breaks. hearing his neighbors have weekend parties or intimate encounters was his punishment for straying from his mother's grasp in his early twenties.

familiar stomps echo up the stairwell. riddle sighs and peels off his glasses, discarding them beside his textbook. the gold rims glint under warm light from his desk lamp. those footsteps are yours, meaning he's been studying for almost four hours and has not retained a single word.

the minutes trickle by. riddle resolves to at least begin preparing for bed while his mind wanders aimlessly-- the lack of discipline is unusual for him, but, in all fairness, his friends have complained about him going overboard in studying for finals this term. but it feels less lonely to know in some way you have, too. your footsteps have woken him from a restless sleep more than once this past week.

it's a dance, almost. he hears your footsteps above him as he too wanders his apartment to settle in for the night. thumps echo above his living room-- you're in your own, assuming the layout of your apartments is the same-- as he's brushing his teeth before bed. your voice is muffled through the walls. you're always talking to something or someone when you get home. a friend on the phone, maybe? a pet? yourself? riddle wouldn't dream of knocking on your door to ask such a pointless question, no matter how his curiosity eats at him when your laugh spills from your open window on warm mornings. you are simply a footnote in his university experience. riddle cannot spare the time to make new friends-- would you even consider the notion?-- as he works overtime to catch up on classes in an attempt to graduate on time. his pride couldn't handle anything less.

and it's a lousy idea, to settle at his desk once more as your footsteps retreat to your bedroom above his. heavy eyes try in vain to focus on the notes he's scrawled in uniform lines across notebook pages. but then a pleasant tune begins to play from above, melodic and sweet...

it's you. inconsiderate of the time, too, as you abandon common courtesy to practice so late at night. that same violin he hears night after night, the one he's seen slung over your shoulder in a decorated case as you scurry off to morning classes, the siren song luring him into an ill-advised nap, just resting his eyes...

in the morning, when he wakes with a start and a crick in his neck, he'll be far less forgiving of your antics. riddle might even finally stomp up to your apartment and chew you out for breaking the curfew for quiet hours. but tonight, to the tune of the piece you've been rehearsing all week, riddle finally finds a restful sleep.

Ever since I read @a-very-fond-farewell ‘s fic (pls read Lamb Loose!!!) and they touch on the mythology of three-legged crow/Hou Yi/Samjok-o at the back of Doyoung’s jacket MY MIND IS BLOWN 🤯🤯 LIKE IT FINALLY MAKE SENSE!!!

The mythology fits Doyoung’s fate really well, but both Doyoung and Dongsoo are two sides of the same coin so I’d like to interpret it in a way that it affects him as well. Dongsoo shot him down, but he too turn into a three-legged crow 😔

hi hello I hope everyone's doing as okay as they can be right now and staying safe ♡ — I wanted to drop in OOC quickly and say while I don't intend on abandoning rosemary, I am going to start leaning hard into the ' I write when I want ' and the ' I made this account to write with friends ' parts of my rules. I've had some off - putting interactions that have led to me feeling pretty unwelcome over here which in turn has killed my desire to write in a public space, and I'd just rather put my energy into my life offline for the time being

I have wild, unrealistic fantasies of making a fanfic series called Universe 989, in which I basically rewrite the DC universe to my liking. Maybe even outright ignore most of canon.

Anyway, thoughts of Bruce using all his money to bribe people into playing nice. Uses his money to solve every god damn problem that could be solved in a corrupt system, and then uses Batman to scare the rest into cooperating.

And then, when Gotham seems to reluctantly settle into lawfulness...

The court of owls comes to him offering a place at their table.

And you know what?

He takes it.

What better way to end corruption in Gotham than at the source of it all?

I won't lie, because I like thinking about it, I often sit here and wonder... What makes fighting Sonic so dangerous?

Is it because of his powers and abilities? Well, it sure doesn't make fighting him any less easy. He's infinitely fast with infinite stamina, his own friction against his body causes a static charge to build up that he has to release or else it'll continue to build until it explodes off of him, and he uses it for combat when he can.

Is it because of his physical body? Also possible. He's incredibly durable and able to withstand just about anything. He fell from space multiple times in his life and once hit the ground hard, and he came out the other end just fine. He was thrown by Giganto into towers and against a mountain, and he was fine.

But, honestly, the thing that makes him truly dangerous, is the fact that he

No matter what, he'll always get back up, through sheer force of will and determination. He will never let anything defeat him, no matter what.

The corruptive power of Dark Gaia was directly pumped into him, the first victim of the dark god after centuries of slumber, and all it did was physically change him because he's simply too good and determined to be corrupted.

If he believes in what he is fighting for, he won't stop fighting. No matter what. He is unstoppable.

He is undefeatable.

All the “Bruce must’ve killed in the LoA” HCs make him and Clark moving on after his resurrection even more interesting, don’t they? I’ve seen, a bunch of times, Clark going “But you wouldn’t have done it”, and sure, maybe he wouldn’t have - but that’s Clark saying it based on the Batman he knows about, Batman who doesn’t kill, and who was - how shall I phrase this - impressively fucked up in the head back then. (I think? Haven’t watched that movie.)

Imagine how much worse that feels to that Bruce, who knows how well prepared he was AND knows he’s 100% capable of looking a person in the eye and killing them, even when they’re not a threat to him, personally, and when he hasn’t spent who knows how long mentally dehumanising them, maybe, too?

(Or imagine Clark, years later, learning about all of this and realising - oh, fuck, he WOULD probably have killed me. And it’s weird - they’re past this, and he knew, in the abstract, that Bruce might’ve, but. It’s different, knowing your best friend today might’ve killed you back then, or knowing the best friend you trust with your life every day is a trained assassin and the only reason his well-researched plan to murder you didn’t succeed is basically chance.)

(That one also has a nice potential for Bruce feeling awkward or guilty because he assumes Clark will be disgusted or scared or shocked, but Clark isn’t. Neither of them communicate on account of that would end the story immediately.)

That's a good point. I don't think there's a lot of evidence at least on screen during BVS that Bruce has never killed before or is uncomfortable with the idea of killing. That decision obviously got a lot of flak from people who insisted Batfleck was completely OOC, but it's an interesting thing to think about. The "Killed with the LoA" hc makes a lot of sense in BVS, actually. He has a rule and he breaks it, or comes close to breaking it, and it seems natural because the rule is in place for a reason, not as some nebulous moral stand. It's literally bathed in blood.

What saved Clark from being killed, as we see, is that Bruce remembers his humanity, his connection to his own family, and pulls back. But we don't see him hesitate before that moment. He's fine with hunting Clark down as long as he doesn't view him as fully human or fully deserving of humanity. That's a very interesting schema to view people through/by -- it absolutely sounds like something the LoA would teach. That people who do evil, who commit atrocities are no longer deserving of life or mercy. And that taking them out isn't the same as killing someone innocent.

Galadriel going off with Sauron into the sunset as full “dark couple” not only seems highly unlikely to me, but doesn’t make sense storywise, honestly. I know a lot of Saurondriel fans want this, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I mean, Tolkien fans would indeed lose their minds, like the Polish reviewer says, but that’s way too extreme, in my opinion.

I do think she will temporarily succumb to Sauron’s temptation (that’s also lore-breaking, because in the books Galadriel sees right through him), and she might be willing to go with him and be his queen (messing up genealogies as created by Tolkien), but something will break it off: herself, Elrond or even Nenya itself (proving once and for all the Elven Rings are not under Sauron’s influence). Galadriel not being able to resist Sauron would also show how powerful he truly is to the audience, and how powerful Galadriel herself is going to become in the future.

If they go with S1 finale 2.0. it would be extremely disappointing, and boring. Not to mention it would undermine both characters, and destroy all the foreshadowing and build-up S2 has been preparing so far.

Also, Sauron will most likely forge the One Ring after this. He poured all of his cruelty, malice and evilness, as well as a huge part of his soul and power, into the ring, binding it to his very being. Him being full of anger, hatred and grief after Galadriel being denied to him makes perfect sense (meaning she won’t be by his side), even more so than simply Galadriel saying “no” again (S1 finale rehash). The One Ring destroys and poisons the mind of every being who takes a hold of it, and takes away the very will to live; Sauron should have been in the depths of “f*ck you all, Imma burning it all down” when he forged it. The “precious” tempts power, but power is also a form of lust, obsession and unrequited love up to 100. I think, thematically, this all makes sense with what RoP is doing with Galadriel and Sauron dynamic/connection and how it will remain a core part for the series until the end.

Yup, I agree with all of this. Galadriel going full dark, even for a short period of time, would be very OOC imho. I love Saurondriel but I don't want that. I want a story that stays true to the characters, especially Galadriel. I'm not a Tolkienist by any means, I don't mind all the changes that were brought to the lore so far and I'm just enjoying the show ; but doing this would do a disservice to the character of Galadriel, I think, regarding what we know of her even within the show itself.

I'm still wondering if it's already in Sauron's plans to forge the One Ring, or if it's something that will come later, as you suggest... But I love the idea that the show brings, even if it's not explicit (yet...) : that Sauron's first idea was to forge two rings for him and Galadriel, but decided to forge one very powerful ring for him and him alone, once he knew he would have to rule by himself. And if your instinct is right and that for a moment, he believes he can win her back... It makes the whole story even more dramatic !
