warnings ➳ cursing, reader is really indecisive, heavy makeout, implications of sexual activity.
synopsis ➳ an attractive stranger visits your cabin for a week with whom you quickly bond, developing some strong feelings in the process; leaving you to wonder if he's worth leaving everything behind.
A/N: henlooo~ I finally posted! This has been sitting in my drafts for a while but I didn't really feel like writing for a while, hence the delay. I hope y'all enjoy this piece and please don't forget to leave some feedback! It really motivates me :)
A cool gust of wind blew by as you finished typing your last column, leaving a soothing feeling behind as you exhaled loudly. It was hard to finish this piece of writing for some reason, maybe because you lacked inspiration or maybe because your life had been monotonous for a while or simply, a mix of both. Closing your laptop you stretch your hands and legs, feeling somewhat productive. Humming a tune, you looked out the window to see a Lamborghini come to a halt at the entrance.
It piqued your interest because it's not often that people riding Lamborghini come in this cabin so genuinely you're interested in the visitor. You shifted in your chair, waiting for the man to come upstairs to the reception and sure enough a tall- really tall man dressed in a neatly pressed suit appears into your view, briskly walking towards the reception where Chan stood to greet him. You could not get a good look at his face as he moved around quickly, grabbing his small carry on and heading towards his cabin after the formalities.
You watched his tall frame walking away as you got up from your seat and moved towards Chan.
"Who is he?"
"Kim Mingyu," Chan explained, resting his arms on the reception table." A millionaire, owns a lot of companies. No wonder he looked familiar."
"Oh, really? How long is he staying?"
"He has booked for five days. Said he might extend his stay."
"I see."
"Why are you so curious though?" Chan raised a brow at you, tilting his head to a side.
"Nothing." You shrugged. "He just has different vibes than the other people that come here you know?"
Chan hummed in agreement.
-
There was never much visitors during the rainy season which was both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because that meant the cabin was less hectic and curse because sometimes you are bound to get a bit too bored. You were helping yourself with a cup of tea to somewhat feel re-energised when your newest and the only guest for the week appeared from his cabin, padding through the corridor and stepping into the common kitchen area. You were taken aback for a moment before you composed yourself and smiled at your guest, "Good morning, Mr. Kim. May I help you with anything?"
"Mingyu, please," the tall male replied while scanning the kitchen area. "You're the owner right? What's the food arrangement here?"
"Well, our guests generally cook for themselves or order takeout. When there are many guests I sometimes do the cooking."
Nodding, he hummed before putting in a capsule in the cappuccino machine. You took a seat by the window, tea in your hand as you watched the male move around like he knew this place. Dressed in his pajamas and judging by the fluffy mess that his hair was you assumed he had a good night's sleep.
"I hope you had a pleasant night, Mr- Mingyu." You said to your guest who had whipped out a pan from the cupboard and was making omelette. "Yes, surprisingly so. Normally I have trouble falling asleep but I slept like a baby last night," he casually conversed as he prepared his breakfast.
You smiled, "Well, I'm glad to know that. If you need anything let my staffs or me know."
"Sure. Oh- I didn't get your name though." Mingyu turned to meet your eyes.
"___," you smiled.
"___, okay."
-
"This is gonna be a rainy week," Hoshi said from behind you as he stood holding a tub of fresh soil for the plants in the backyard of the cabin. You sat on your knees, eyeing the plants which needed their soil changed.
"Yeah? Well, good thing there isn't much guests now."
"I think there should be, I mean it's so pretty here during the rain too. People need to look at it themselves." Hoshi complained.
"Well, most people don't like going out in the rain. Pass me the soil, Hoshi. Let's get this finished before the shower starts."
Hoshi handed you the tub of soil as the sky above started growling, full of thick black clouds. It was gonna start raining soon.
Hoshi spoke, "Oh, Mr.Kim, Mingyu you know, asked me about the beach by the marketplace. Apparently he wants to visit so he asked me if I was free to show him around."
"And let me guess, you aren't?" You rolled your eyes.
Soonyoung pouted, "No! Well I would have given him a tour today if the weather wasn't so bad. And my friends are coming tomorrow, so I'll be busy then."
"Wait- you're friends are coming?" You turned, glaring at the boy who smiles sheepishly, "Oh! Um- I didn't tell you? Well they're only staying for a couple of days and it's not like they're staying for free."
"Well, make sure they clean after themselves okay? If I see them trashing all over the place like last time, I'm kicking you out with them." You gave him a pointed look.
"Okay okay," Hoshi rolled his eyes, puffing his cheeks. "Just- take the CEO out on a tour tomorrow for me okay? I haven't seen my friends in a long time."
"Alright, I will...if the weather is good which probably won't be." You sighed, gently removing the old soil.
Hoshi mused about Mingyu, "Bummer for him, he came in a wrong time. It's weird, no? We don't have such guests like him."
"Yeah," you hummed, focused on handling your roses.
-
Hoshi's friend, Seokmin and Seungkwan appeared early in the morning next day as you watched Hoshi vibrate from happiness when he hugged them. You smiled to yourself, laughing at at the antics of your staff as you saw him guide his friends into their cabin. The day was once again filled with dark clouds and raining which occurred every other hour. You and Chan cleaned up and completed some chores as the noon fell.
"Should I cook something up for them?" You wondered as Chan finished cleaning the common space of the first cabin.
"Nah, Seokmin hyung is cooking for them. He's a pretty good cook actually."
"Really? That's nice." You said pulling up a chair to sit down. "Are you gonna join them? Hoshi has been with his friends since they came."
"Yeah, probably. You should join us too."
"No, I think I'm gonna take a nap. I feel so tired."
"Alright."
You watched as Chan climbed down the stairs and stepped towards the second cabin where everyone else was. You were about to head to your room when the CEO, Mingyu appeared in the kitchen.
"Oh, hello."
"Hi."
"I haven't seen you since morning," you said watching as Mingyu poured himself a glass of water.
"Yeah, I woke up early today, went for a jog."
"Ah, I see."
"Couldn't go far though, the weather sucks you know." He said leaning against the kitchen top.
"Yeah. But I heard that it should get better from tomorrow. I could show you around if you want to. Hoshi, my staff, is going to busy for a while so I can guide you around."
"Really? That would be cool." Mingyu smiled. There was a small stretch of silence as you both listened to the rainfall before he spoke, "Have you had lunch?"
"Uh-no."
"Would you like to join me?" He asked "This is the longest time I've been alone and it feels a bit weird," he murmured more to himself than you.
"I mean- I don't mind," you shrugged. "Though I should be the one doing it."
"It's okay. People say I am a good cook," Mingyu smiled, his eyes crinkling.
"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see."
-
It was weird how comfortable you felt watching Mingyu being clumsy and bump into things as he prepared your meal. It felt like you've been doing this forever- like you've known him forever and you thought to yourself what was suddenly wrong with you. He made small talk as he cooked and it felt easy talking with him- almost impossible to believe that he was stranger. He was friendly and easy to get along with, definitely not a cold and grumpy businessman like you imagined him to be.
Mingyu grinned as he set down the food in front of you- chicken soup, rice and cheese omelette. His eyes twinkled excitedly as he watched you take a bite, waiting for you to say something.
"What are you? A part time chef or something?" You tried not to moan as you chewed because it was that good. Mingyu laughed- a sweet, shy laugh that had his canines showing and his eyes forming crescents. "Thank you. I learned from my mom. I like cooking for myself when I get the time which is not often," he smiled- almost sadly.
"Well, you can cook for me all you want as long as you're here because this is amazing!" You grinned at him, cheeks puffed with food.
Mingyu chuckled softly as he dug in and you both started eating. It felt nice, to talk to someone new and spend time with them, someone other than Chan or Hoshi. It was a nice change- a change you probably needed for a while.
"So...What brings you here?" You asked as you finished your food, setting down the spoon and leaning back into the chair. Mingyu who was still eating, looked at you with a perplexed expression so you spoke, "I mean...we don't generally have guests like you. And it's not even a good time to visit...so I was wondering what brought you here?"
"Guests like me? What does that mean?"
"I mean...rich, okay?" You fumbled, feeling awkward. Maybe you shouldn't have asked. "Like...there are fancier places to visit, you know..."
Mingyu smiled at your words for a moment before he deadpanned, "I'm running away."
"Running away?" You gasped, almost jumping from your seat, "From who? The cops?"
"It would have been better but no, my family," he said, his voice as serious as ever.
"Oh...I see," you fell quiet. It definitely wasn't the answer you expected. You both remained silent for a while as he started out the window, lost in thoughts. "It must have been really bad if you're hiding out here." You spoke softly.
"It has always been," he mumbled. "I just couldn't take it anymore, you know? I desperately needed a break," he spoke more to himself than you. Instead of prodding further, you sat quietly, watching him and listening to his words. Seeing him now, he definitely looks troubled and you didn't exactly have the words to console him.
So you whispered, "Well, I hope it gets better."
-
Later that night, you find Hoshi and his friends and Chan preparing for a bonfire in the front yard of the cabin.
"Wow, you all are really having fun, no?" You said as you fisted your hands in your pockets from the chilly weather. The air was colder than other nights and everyone including you had put on some warm clothes.
"You wanna join us?" Seokmin asked as he stacked logs on top of each other.
"Nah, it's fine. You four carry on," you patted his back as you started walking back towards the cabin and saw Chan and Hoshi coming out with some boxes in their hands.
"Hey! There are marshmallows in the kitchen cabinet if you want.... nevermind," you finished as you saw beer cans and soju bottles in their hands.
"We're gonna get drunk baby!" Soonyoung yelled, grinning like a fool.
"Hyung, you look drunk already," Chan gave him a side look as they trudged towards the bonfire.
Laughing at their antics you climbed the stairs to the kitchen, preparing some hot chocolate for yourself. Holding the mug on one hand you knocked on the door to Mingyu's room, checking up on him since you haven't seen him since lunch.
The door opened revealing Mingyu in a baggy shirt and pajamas, his hair fluffy and messy.
"Hey," you chriped. "Wanted to check up on you. You wanna join the others in the bonfire?"
"Nah, I'm good. I've been watching them from the balcony." He smiled, his pointy canines showing.
"Oh, I see."
"You wanna come in? I've been getting lonely." He offered, moving away from the door to make space for you.
"Uh- I don't mind," you murmured, surprised that he asked you to come in. You tentatively stepped in and it was fair to say that you were surprised to see the room neat and pristine as most guests kept their room messy.
He ushered you into the balcony, which had a great view of your yard and the forest behind. You saw others laughing loudly as Soonyoung acted something out. Mingyu's voice pulled you out of your thoughts.
"You didn't join them?"
"Nah, they can get too loud sometimes," you chuckled, taking a seat on the bench. You eyed an empty mug lying by, guessing that Mingyu already had his fill of hot chocolate.
Mingyu took a seat beside you, stretching his legs and sighing as he mused, "The view is great."
You hummed your agreement. It was indeed. Not only did you have the full view of your yard and the forest, but you could see a vast horizon of the night sky, some stars twinkling through the clouds.
"It's even more beautiful during summer. You can see so many stars that it feels unreal." You told him.
"Then I will try to visit again during summer," he smiled and you were not sure if he was serious or joking. However you replied with a smile, "You're always welcome."
A silence falls among you two after that but it's not uncomfortable, as you both watched the night grow and Soonyoung and his friends got louder.
"Things got really hard for me, you know," Mingyu started speaking, his voice soft as he stared at the mesh of trees ahead. You were somewhat surprised at his words, but you didn't interrupt, opting for him to continue.
"Running a million dollar company was never easy but...it suddenly was unbearable. My parents always interfered in my work and how I run the company but I managed through all of that, really...until..." Mingyu heaved a long sigh, abruptly stopping.
"Until?" You tentatively asked, peeking at him.
"They want me to get married. With the daughter of their business partner. A marriage of convenience, really."
Oh.
You fell silent, watching him as the moonlight dimly lit the side of his face. There wasn't enough light to see his face completely, but enough to see the curve of his face, his sharp jawline and the sad, lost look in his eyes. Your heart suddenly ached for him. Silently you patted his shoulder, conjuring up some words to console him.
"That's ...awful, really. I'm sorry."
"I've never been so mad in my whole life. Can't they just leave me alone? They treat me like a puppet, like my only job is to live for them. I'm so done. " He said, his hands forming fists.
There's a beat of silence as you quietly patted his back and watched your friends get wasted by the bonfire before he chuckled softly, "I'm sorry for dumping all these on you. I just couldn't hold them in you know-"
"It's really fine, Mingyu. I don't mind. It would be nice if I could actually help you," you sighed, retracting your hand.
"Trust me, you are," he said and you caught a smile on his face.
"I suppose you don't have a significant other? Someone you could talk to freely?"
He shook his head. "That is why I came here. Needed to get my thoughts together, away from them. Not to mention I don't remember the last time I went on a vacation."
"And have you got your thoughts together?"
"I think so, yeah." He shrugged.
"What are you gonna do?" You asked tilting your head.
"Stand strong in my ground, I guess. There's no way I'm marrying their business partner, I'd rather die. And if all else fails, I'm staying here. I'm sure you have some type of job for me, right?"
You laughed at his words, "Maybe. But I'm not sure about your skills, Mr. Kim."
"Oh I'm a fast learner, Miss ___."
You both grinned at each other.
That night when you went back to your room, your thoughts were plagued by Mingyu and you could swear you saw him in your dreams too.
-
The next morning is brighter and shinier; the sky relatively clear other than some light clouds. After getting dressed and checking up on Hoshi and Chan who were still sleeping, you trudged through the cabin and towards Mingyu's room, before knocking on it. A fully dressed Mingyu appeared, clad in a white polo and jeans, his hair styled messily. He looked effortlessly attractive, making your heart skipp a few beats.
Damn it, what was wrong with you?
"Hi," you almost missed a breath, your face flushed with warmth.
"Oh, hey. I was about to come to you. I believe you were to show me around." Mingyu grinned, his pointy canines showing.
"And that is what I'm here for, Mr. Kim."
"Great! Let's get going. We'll take my car."
-
After showing Mingyu around for a couple of hours, you both ended up at the beach by the marketplace, sitting on the sand next to each other. The weather was nice; not too hot, not too cold as a light breeze flew by occasionally. Though you could see some black clouds gathering above, it wasn't to rain until evening if the forecast was correct.
"This place is so pretty," Mingyu mused, making you smile.
"I know right. The weather is great too."
You both watched the waves crash to the shore, occasionally wetting your feet as you both relaxed on the sand. There was a silence, a comfortable one as you finished eating the corndog you bought from the market earlier with some groceries. As you finished the last bite, Mingyu turned to face you and asked, "Tell me about yourself."
"What?" A squeak of surprise escaped from you.
"I shared a lot about myself last night. It's only fair I get to know about you too."
"Well..." You pondered. "There isn't much to tell. I've a pretty dull life, unlike you."
Mingyu chuckled, shaking his head, "Does the cabin belong to your parents? Is it like a family business type of thing?"
"No, not really," you smiled softly. "My parents are dead. The cabin belonged to my grandfather."
"Oh- I'm sorry."
"No it's okay. They passed away in an accident when I was a kid so I don't remember them much." You spoke, watching the sea, "My grandparents raised me. Growing up I've spent a lot of time in the cabin and when my grandfather retired he handed the job to me."
"Are they alive? Your grandparents?" He asked tentatively.
You shook your head, "Grandpa passed away a couple years ago and it's been a few months since grandma did too."
"I'm sorry, you must've been lonely," Mingyu offered, his voice soft.
You shrugged, "Yeah, like I said, nothing interesting going on in my life."
Mingyu hummed noncommittally and there was a few moments of silence before he spoke again, "Was managing the cabin something you have always wanted to do?"
You were quiet for a while as you thought over the question, "No...not really. I've just kept doing the job I was handed to. I haven't really thought about what I want to do."
"Well...I think you should hire a manager in your place and maybe...I don't come to the city and make friends, see what calls for you."
"Yeah, I've thought about it. But I don't know really." You murmured.
"Well, give it some thought. I could help you find a manager. In fact, I could help promote and upgrade your cabin if you'd let me. It'll be a good investment."
You laughed softly, not taking his words too seriously. He was just a guest. He was probably just being nice.
A gust of strong wind flew by, ruining your hair as it poked into your eyes and you laughed when your eyes landed on Mingyu.
"What?"
His hair was sticking in different directions because of the wind and you shook your head with a smile as you reached to pat the hairs back into place. It happened naturally, before you could stop yourself. For a moment your eyes meet as you quickly retract your hand, face heated.
Something was definitely wrong with you.
Mingyu's gaze stayed at you for a while; you could feel his intense eyes on you and you thought maybe he didn't like you touching him. Before your thoughts ran more rampant, he spoke.
"___?"
"Y-yes?"
"Do you...Do you have a home?"
"Home?" You were confused.
"Yes, home. Not like a real house but like a... person. Someone who makes you feel at ease, someone with whom you can be yourself without judgements, someone who keeps you cozy and safe and loved...like a home."
Somewhat taken aback by his words, you fell silent but their depth hit you and you found yourself thinking about it. Do you have a home?
No. No, you don't.
You shook your head, murmuring, "No."
Mingyu nodded taking his eyes off you.
"What about you?" You asked.
"Me neither."
You smiled, "Figures. Because if you had someone you wouldn't have run here but went to them."
Mingyu smiled, a sad smile gracing his lips. It was a somewhat bitter truth, he hadn't found his home no matter how much he looked for it. Maybe that's what he was doing wrong, looking desperately.
"Let's get going. It has started to rain," Your voice dragged him out of his thoughts as he felt small drops of water fall on his face. You reached your hand out to him and he took it, standing up. As you both jogged towards Mingyu's car, your hands remained connected, no one bothering to let go.
-
That night you had dinner with Mingyu again but this time it was you who did the cooking. After enjoying dinner over small talk, Mingyu like the gentleman he is did the dishes as you poured some wine for the two of you.
Sitting on the small table in common space by the window, you both watched the clear sky that had appeared after the shower. You sipped your wine, watching the vast expanse of stars that blinked in the dark sky.
"I think I've to go back tomorrow," Mingyu suddenly whispered, his tone so low you almost thought you misheard him. A bolt out the blue, you looked at him.
"Tomorrow?"
"Mmhmm," he fiddled with the hem of his cardigan as he stared at the table. "I've got so many calls and messages from work. My company won't run on its on, I can be gone for only so long." He sighed.
You didn't offer any words, too shocked to know that he'd be gone tomorrow. What is this attachment you've developed towards him? Why did the thought of someone, almost a stranger going back to where he came from, where he belonged hurt you so much? You didn't know what to label your feelings but realizing that you'd probably never see him again was tugging at your heartstrings.
Should you ask him for his number and stay connected with him? Is there even a point in that? You both live miles away from each other. Or should just take his advice and follow him to the city? Would that even be a good idea? Are you just reading all this wrong?
You were so invested in your thoughts that you didn't realize Mingyu was calling you until he shook your shoulder.
"You okay, ___?"
"Huh? Yeah...it's just, the news is really sudden. I didn't... expect you'd return so soon." You mumbled.
Mingyu sighed, his shoulder dropping a little bit. "Trust me, if I could I'd stay here forever. But...I can't keep running. I need to face my parents, the sooner the better."
At a loss of what to say, you just nodded. Reaching for your drink you took a big gulp, trying to calm your nerves. It's okay, you can do this. He's just another one of your guests.
You stood up, taking the empty glass in your hand, "Well, I better leave you alone now. I'm sure you've got packing to do."
You almost turned away; until a strong hand gripped your wrist and pulled you back, making you stumble towards Mingyu's body.
"Don't. Stay for a while. I don't want you to leave." His voice was soft yet deep and it immediately broke your resolve as you set the glass down and looked into his eyes.
He didn't let go of your wrist; instead only wrapped his other hand around your waist, pulling you closer, leaving just a few inches between your faces. You didn't tell him to move neither did you make any effort to get away from him- you didn't want to. It felt good, comforting as he held you and looked at you almost like you were his whole world. His eyes had so much emotion swirling in them and you were sure yours looked the same too.
"___?" His voice was breathy and it set your heart aflame.
"Y-yes?"
"Can I...kiss you?"
You inhaled sharply as his hold on you got tighter. You couldn't process a reply, overwhelmed with emotion. So you just nodded and Mingyu leaned in, pressing his lips to yours.
It was soft at first, his lips just resting against yours, as if he was testing the waters. When you didn't resist but only pulled him closer, he started devouring you, his tongue prodding in your wet cavern. Moans espaced from you as you kept pulling at his hair almost grinding on him, desperate for more. He was the same, kissing you with so much passion and vigour like you were the last female standing.
You somehow managed to tug off his cardigan between the kiss and when you pulled apart for air, Mingyu panted, "Can we take this to the bedroom?"
His deep raspy voice spread liquid heat throughout your body and you had to stop yourself from pouncing on him.
"Yes please," you breathed. Mingyu stood up straight, his tall and built body intimidating you in the best ways possible, "Oh baby, you don't have to beg. I'll give you anything you want."
Once again your breath was trapped as he picked you up, his hand under your ass to support you. When he dropped you on his bed and took off his tee you realized you were in for a long night. In the back of your mind, you also realized that this would make it even harder to let him go.
-
Next morning you were the first one to wake up as the sun barely seeped through the blinds. If you had to guess it wasn't any more than six am. Mingyu's hand rested on your waist as he remained snuggled against your back. It was so comforting that you almost forgot your reality and went back to sleep, until you remembered what had happened last night. Before you could start overthinking and possibly had a breakdown right there, you ever so carefully removed his hand from your body and scrawled out of the bed, grabbing your shirt and quickly throwing it on. Then you tiptoped out of his room despite the ache between your legs and rushed straight towards yours.
Slamming the door shut, your sat down, head in your hands. You've to now prepare for saying goodbye. Right, you just need to act casual and not let him know that you might have developed feelings for him in the past week.
His words came back to you.
"Do you have a home?"
You didn't have one until now but the realization that you may have found it brought tears to your eyes.
-
You spent the next hours wallowing in your self pity, curled up in your bed too afraid to get out and face Mingyu. Soonyoung dropped by once, knocking at your door and asking if you want breakfast, which you declined. Time slowly ticked away and you watched as the clock struck eleven. You couldn't stay inside forever. You needed to bid Mingyu a goodbye- that is if he hadn't left already. But you were sure he didn't; he wouldn't just leave without any words.
Sighing, you gathered every last bit of your courage and stepped out of your room. Immediately you saw Mingyu coming out from the opposite end of the corridor, the carry-on he brought with him in his hand.
"Hey, where have you been?" He asked, his steps getting quicker to come and stand in front of you.
"Oh- um, I took and shower and then dozed off, sorry," you lied easily, not meeting his eyes.
There was a beat of silence as you both stood in front of each other and when your eyes finally met his, a blush spread across his face like wildfire. The air was heavy with unsaid words and you coughed, trying to get rid of the terrible awkwardness.
"So, you're leaving now?"
What a nice question.
Mingyu seemed to be lost in thoughts as he snapped back to reality and scratched the back of his head, "Oh yeah, right. It'll be a couple hours drive so the earlier I leave the better."
Nodding you motioned your hand towards the exit, "I'll see you out."
Mingyu seemed to have something to say but he pressed his lips in a thin line and started to climb down the stairs, you behind him. Soonyoung, who was standing at the entrance gave you a conspirational wiggle of his brows but said nothing as he watched you follow Mingyu out.
You observed as Mingyu loaded his bag in the trunk, peeking glances at you every other second. When he finished, you spoke, "Well...good luck. I hope you can overcome your problems."
"Thanks. It won't be easy and my dad will probably take away my shares of the company but...I'm done living like this."
You nodded, smiling softly as you crossed your arms against your chest. It suddenly felt cold.
You both gazed at each other, saying nothing even though you've so much to say, as if the silence would carry your unsaid words to him. You were torn- wanting to talk about last night but chickening out knowing it was probably just a fling, a one night stand for him.
"___..." Mingyu spoke but the words died on his tongue. Not trusting yourself to speak, you swallwed the ball of emotions and looked at him with a curious tilt of head.
"...I hope you find what you really want to do. And I hope you find your home too," he said, his words so soft and gentle. For some reason you had a feeling that those were not the words he wanted to say yet you forced a smile and nodded, "You too, Mingyu."
His eyes swirled with so my emotions but you didn't know what he was thinking. He looked pained, just like you but you were too afraid to speak your feelings, scared that you misread him.
When you spoke no more, Mingyu sighed and backstopped slowly, "Well... goodbye, then."
You managed to choke out the words, "Goodbye."
Your emotions overwhelmed you, tears stinging your eyes as you watched him enter his car. Why did it hurt so much? Why did it feel like your heart was being ripped right out of your chest?
His engine roared to life and your stomach sunk. Was this really the right thing to do? Should you just let him go like this?
You made a split second decision that moment, just as his car moved forward a little.
"Mingyu!" You called after him, immediately making him stop the car. He came out, almost in a hurry, an expectant look on his face as you ran towards him. Then you made another split second decision as you wrapped your arms around his tall frame and held tight.
"I like you, Mingyu. I really like you." You mumbled in his chest.
He didn't say anything back but you felt his arms wrapping around you tightly and you stood there in each others embrace for a while. It felt like time has stopped, the warmth and safety of his arms comforting you and making you realize how you would have regretted if you had let him go.
Mingyu pulled back to take a look at your face, his hand cupping your cheeks, his warm but intense eyes on you, shining with love and adoration.
"Say something," you whispered, still unsure.
He chuckled, a light-hearted, carefree sound that made your heart swoon. "I like you too, if it wasn't obvious after last night."
Elated, you pulled his face down and kissed his lips as you felt him grin and wrap his arms around you once again.
"I want to go with you...to the city," you murmured into his chest as he rested his chin on the top of your head.
You couldn't see it but you felt him smirk, "Good. Because I think I found my home."
Your heart couldn't become fuller as you grinned like a happy child.
"Me too."

it's not christmas without you
i'm late. i had an off day, so this is technically a day behind. oh well.
there was a lot i kept thinking i needed to include in this note, but i forgot at least half of it. i'm pretty sure it wasn't all that important.
anyway, this is a special one. i normally use this generic character name for all my reader characters, and i don't include any specifics beyond that. this time, i decided to try something else. it's second person pov with one of my characters. she's still mostly undescribed with her features, but i did include one or two things that hint at her appearance. i had fun with it, but i was being extra careful to not include too much about her, and while i think everything is relevant, i still might have left a line or two that could have been cut.
i won't be surprised if this is my least liked story, but i'm pretty happy with it.
disclaimer: the plot and chii only are mine to own, so if you feel inclined to sue me, fuck off and leave me alone.
song
word count: 2978- i really need help with cutting shit down. i tried so hard, but this idea just kept hopping around, so i was just trying to make sure i didn't leave any gaps. character explanation, as limited as i tried to keep it, didn't help either. there's just a lot more to be said about a character i've had for over ten years than a generic one i made up specifically to suit a single story.
enjoy!
The Christmas music called to you from inside Naruto and Hinata’s home, and the picture from outside made you smile softly. Bright light spilled through the front windows onto glittering snow covered bushes, and you couldn’t deny that it warmed your heart quite a bit.
“It’s not a party!” Naruto had told you when you had initially been resistant to the idea of the gathering. “It’s just a few friends!” That was a lie if you ever heard one. Naruto didn’t do anything small. However, it wasn’t as big as you thought it would be. Kiba and Shino were busy with their families that evening, as were Sasuke, his wife Usagi, and their one child (and a half). Sakura was working a double shift at the hospital. It was sad that not everyone could make it, but you were relieved. Kiba and Naruto were the rowdiest of the group, and Usagi could blend with them very well, very easily when she wanted to. Taking two of those people out of the equation meant a chance at a few hours of relative peace. Some others were arriving late, so it was the best time to be there.
“Yeah!” Naruto cheered when he opened the door to see you. “I knew you’d come!”
“I told you I would,” you laughed, stepping in and removing your long overcoat. He took it, tossed it on the pile of the others, and led you to the den where about a dozen others were. “Am I the last one?”
“Nah. Kankuro is still lagging behind. He’ll be here soon.”
You nodded with a slight ache in your heart when the name caused you to remember one of the reasons that you were there. It was so you wouldn’t stay home sulking.
“Chii!” You looked over just in time to get plowed into by Ino, your older sister by adoption.
“Hi, sis,” you groaned as you tried to stay standing. “How much have you had to drink?”
“I’ve hardly had any!”
“Uh-huh,” you said, not believing her. She had an average alcohol tolerance, so you knew she needed a few cups to get so bubbly, depending on the drink. She had been in an exceptionally good mood that day, though, so maybe she hadn’t had all that much.
“I’m telling the truth!”
“Okay, okay, but I still smell schnapps on your breath, so back up, please.”
“All right,” she said and took a step back. “Think you’ll be able to stay the whole time?”
Your eyes darted to the three children of Naruto and Hinata- crawling around at his mother’s feet with some of his toys in reach- Shikamaru and Temari- in his father’s arms, looking around with mild interest- and Choji and Karui- finishing off a bottle in her father’s arms as well. “Until the babies go down, at least.”
“Right. That’s something, at least. It’s been forever since you’ve been around this many of us at once.”
“A year. Last Christmas and New Year’s was the last time.”
“Now that you mention it, I don’t think that half this many of us have gotten together since then. Naruto’s gotten handfuls of us out for dinner a few times, I think, but nothing near this.”
You nodded. “As much as we may want to, it’s pretty much impossible to get us all, now that some are parents, half of the group is married, and we all have careers.”
“Yeah, but that’s boring!”
“You say that because you’re not married or a parent, so you just have your career while your friends have their families to tend to. That’s okay. You’re a good psychiatrist, and you’ve got Kankuro whipped over those blue eyes.”
“And then there’s you, who would turn down half the invites if we did get together as often as we want to. Admit it, the extent of your socialization outside the family circle is pretty much your students and their parents and-”
She cut off, looking a little guilty.
“Gaara. Yeah, I know. Does that really count in your book? All we’ve done is text since last year, and not talking about it doesn’t change the fact that he’s not coming this year.”
“You don’t know that. Didn’t he say that he might make it on New Year’s Eve?”
“Might, but I’m not holding out a lot of hope.”
“Chii, come on. I know how you feel about him, but don’t let this ruin your holiday,” she sighed.
“It’s not just that he’s not here,” you muttered. “I… I was planning on making a move. I wasn’t going to do it over text, but I’ve been thinking about it for months.”
She gaped in astonishment. You confided almost everything in her, but this was the first time you’d spoken it aloud. It was the first time you actually said anything aloud that confirmed that you felt that way. There had been teasing the previous year when couples had paired off, leaving you and him as the spares, and the two of you looked as comfortable with each other as any of the couples did. It didn’t help when your gloves got soaked when someone’s water glass was knocked over while you all were out to dinner before seeing the lights in town. Your hands were freezing, dry, and cracking. The jacket you’d been wearing had pockets so tiny, you couldn’t fit your hands in them. He had a solution, and if you hadn’t actually known him from well before then, you would have jumped out of your skin when he gave you his left glove and told you to put it on, then taken your right hand and stuck it in his much roomier pocket along with his left hand. No, he wasn’t holding your hand.
Ino glanced back to check on you when you weren’t looking and almost had a fit. Kankuro was with her, and when he saw what she was freaking out about he was only a little calmer. If they hadn’t seen how bad your hands were, and knew that your gloves were useless, they wouldn’t have left you alone. They definitely wouldn’t have waited until the four of you had separated from the group to call you out on it.
Ino fussed over you enough- not nearly as bad as she did before you left for school- while Kankuro gave Gaara just enough trouble to consider himself a good big brother, but they both took the protectiveness up a notch, even though you had just turned twenty only a couple weeks prior to that incident, and Gaara was a month away from turning twenty-three.
“Does that mean you were actually going to drink tonight to work up the courage?” She couldn’t help teasing, eliciting a roll of your eyes.
“Very funny. I’m going to go say hi to the others and kidnap the kids,” you said, turning away from her. After making it around to everyone else, you got on the ground and played with Boruto, who recognized you after a minute or two. Conversation flew over your head until Boruto decided to lay down on the comfy blanket he was on and doze off, which was when you decided to stand up and re-join the adults.
“Hey, Chii, you haven’t performed since you graduated, right?” Naruto spoke up when the talking had ebbed.
You nodded, a sinking feeling in your gut. You’d gotten your bachelor of arts in performance with emphasis on voice and dance over six months beforehand, and since you’d returned home following graduation, all you’d been able to do with the education from your years at the University of Ame was teach those lessons, along with piano. You were good, and you knew it, but you weren’t one of the self-assured performers that could be put on the spot.
“Why don’t you sing something for us? We could use some live music!”
“Naruto, it’s not nice to ask someone so suddenly,” Hinata said, picking up their son.
“But we’re all friends, and we’ve all heard her before.”
“It was the national anthem at a school assembly in senior year. That was five years ago. Besides Ino, Shikamaru, Choji and the babies, no one else here has heard me since then,” you pointed out.
“Don’t you have to be ready to perform at a moment’s notice or something when you do musicals? What’s the word for those people?”
“Understudies or swings, and they prepare for months. They know exactly what they’re doing when they’re called on. Big difference.”
“Fine, fine, I’ll back off, but if you do it, we’ll take you out for sushi.”
You weakly glared at him as everyone laughed or at least smiled in amusement. The local sushi restaurant was a huge weakness of yours, and they were all close enough to you to know it. “What do you want me to sing?”
“Anything! It can be Jingle Bells if you jazz it up a bit.”
“Please, anything but that,” Temari groaned.
“Do that pretty one you’ve been listening to a lot,” Ino suggested. “It sounds sad, but ends with a good feeling!”
“It’s Not Christmas Without You?” You confirmed, daring her to push it.
“Yeah!”
“Oh, I like that one,” Hinata said.
You sighed, figuring you might as well vent your feelings with a song that hit the nail on the head. You found a karaoke track of it and plugged it into the stereo. Despite knowing that it would be better form to stand, you weren’t going to. You were confident in your abilities, but you weren’t about to stick out further when everyone else was sitting.
“The year’s almost over. It sure looks like December, with snow and ice on the ground,” you sang softly when you knew to come in.
You really hoped Ino was the only one there who knew that it wasn’t just a song to you. You weren’t sure, but you knew that when your emotions ran high- a too frequent occurrence- you were an open book. If you got too emotional during the song, it would be obvious that it was personal, and the others would wonder. Only Naruto would openly ask, if he didn’t decide it was better left alone, but those people had all shown that they cared about you enough to be curious. If that was it, you’d be okay, but you knew some of them might not have to think too much to reach the accurate conclusion. It would be embarrassing enough for them to know you had a general someone in mind, but Shikamaru and especially Temari… That would just be awkward for them to find out that you felt that way about her brother while you were belting out the chorus.
When you were finishing the first chorus, Boruto stirred, recognizing your voice from when you’d sung him lullabies. He reached for you, surprising you a bit. It was rare that he chose to part from his mother when he was sleepy. You weren’t even sure that you’d seen it happen before. You glanced at Hinata as you started the second verse, and she smiled. You nervously took him from her and stood, knowing he’d be happiest being rocked.
It turned out to be a blessing in a few ways. For one, your focus was on him as you carried on. For another, you couldn’t go all in on the bridge and final chorus the way it was called for when he was that close if you wanted to spare his hearing, so you had to control your emotional output along with your volume. You altered the intensity to stay as true as you could while keeping your voice just loud enough for everyone to hear you. It kept you from choking up like you feared.
“It’s Christmas, all I wanted this year, on this Christmas, was for you to be near,” you sang as you watched the infant fall back asleep before lifting your head to deliver the joyful last lines. You almost choked on them when you saw that at some point while you were distracted, Naruto had slipped away to let two more people in. “I won’t wonder if you’re thinking of me, ‘cause you’re here. My one wish has come true, it’s no longer Christmas without you…”
You were trying not to shake as your eyes met Gaara’s while he smiled warmly right at you. Swallowing everything you were feeling that you couldn’t begin to process as you were. Looking for an escape, you turned to Hinata.
“Would y-you like me to put him in his crib?” You tried begging her with your eyes. Luckily, she understood you and gave you the okay. You were in the nursery before you registered anything after that first step out. Trying to rationalize, you told yourself that it wasn’t a big deal. You just felt that way because you caved and gave that impromptu performance, which already had you anxious, but then you weren’t prepared for the sudden addition of two people, whoever they were. Finally, you admitted to yourself, it didn’t help that you had feelings for him, and you’d already made peace with the fact that he wasn’t coming.
You went straight back to Ino and asked her to get you a drink, knowing very little about alcohol. She was surprised, but complied, catching on quickly. You followed through with what you told Ino, but as soon as you saw that Shikadai and Chocho were both out, you were heading for your car. You were so glad you’d driven separately from your sister just so you’d be able to take off if you got too overwhelmed. However, when you stopped by the door to find your keys in your bag, you were cornered.
“Your voice is beautiful,” he said.
“Thank you,” you said, too softly at first, so you felt the need to repeat it after clearing your throat. “I-I guess you were able to get away from work after all.”
“I was. I would have messaged you if I had known it would be such a shock to you.”
You concentrated on rifling through your bag. “Please, I doubt you had any time to think about contacting me.”
“More time than you’d think.”
You finally sighed and stopped, feeling too frantic. “Shock or not, you didn’t owe me anything.”
“Maybe, but I’m sorry I caught you off guard like that.”
“Don’t worry about it. I was already feeling like a deer in the headlights.”
“Naruto mentioned that he bribed you to do it. Let me guess, that sushi restaurant you told me about over the summer?”
You blushed. “Am I that predictable?”
“I wouldn’t say that,” he chuckled. “I just think I’ve gotten to know you well.”
“It would seem so.”
“Would you be opposed to going with me?” His meaning flew over your head at first.
“Of course not. I’m sure Naruto would love for you to come with us when he-”
“I meant just me.”
For the first time, you willingly looked at him instead of doing it by accident, not totally confident that he was asking what you had intended to ask at one point.
“Oh, um… No, I-I wouldn’t be. I’m free whenever you’d like to go, for the most part. Just give me as much warning as you can, in case I have a lesson. I don’t have many to work around.”
He nodded. “I don’t want to keep you, if you have somewhere else you need to be.”
“I don’t… I just know more people should be here soon, and I’m kind of at my limit.” “I understand.” You noted the flash of a frown and furrowed brow, indicating that he was unhappy. “Would tomorrow evening work?”
You were pretty sure you had no prior commitments, and you were happy to deliver a positive answer.
“Yes, it would. I can come get you at six, or do you have a car you’d prefer to drive?”
“That works. Just be ready for any future teasing at my expense. It’s technically the first time I’ve ever asked anyone on a date.”
Everything came to a screeching halt as you realized it was more than you told yourself it was to spare yourself the disappointment if he meant it platonically.
“It’s technically the first time I’ve ever said yes to one,” you faintly laughed.
He smiled again, and you returned it. It was the perfect time to tell him, but you were afraid you’d stumble over yourself too much. Maybe it should wait until the next day.
Car doors shutting signaled the arrival of more people, but you found you weren’t quite as eager to go. He nodded in understanding when you looked back at him, figuring you were itching to get out of there. You had an idea that was so impulsive, you didn’t even register that you’d acted on it until it was over and you were up on the balls of your feet to reach him.
“Sorry,” you quickly said as he set you with a wide eyed gaze. “Let’s just say I’ve been waiting to do that for a year, and I guess I couldn’t wait any longer. I surprised myself too.”
Without warning, he returned the favor, giving both of you a chance to enjoy it.
“I guess I couldn’t wait any longer either,” he said when you broke apart, both of you sporting smiles.
Those smiles only lasted until there was a knock on the door, and someone cleared their throat, attracting your attention. Naruto stood there with a smile that he wore well, one that conveyed the promise of mischief.
“I’ll treat you to sushi for singing, Chii, but unless you want me to run back in there and announce that we just gained another couple, my next ramen bill is on you.”

Tell the World
Pairing: Raleigh Carrera x Cadence Dorian (Platinum)
Prompt: Image
for: @choicesseptemberchallenge20 • Day 25
Note: Hello! This is my first time joining a fic fest and my first time writing, too. It's not the best but I hope you'll enjoy it. Thank you!
---
Cadence wakes up as the rays of sun hit her eyes. She stirs and tightens her arms around the waist of the man beside him, unwilling to move and get the day started. It hasn't even been 24 hours since the last time she went on stage and she feels so tired. She groans as her phone buzzed once again making the latter chuckle from behind her and stroke her hair.
"Babe, you have to wake up. Your phone has been going off since earlier." Raleigh pats her back lightly as he inched himself away from her only to put a kiss on her forehead and on the tip of his nose. Cadence waits for his lips to land on hers yet she didn't feel it. So he opened her eyes and pouts only to see her boyfriend grining down at her. "Thought it's gonna wake you up and it did. Good morning, hermosa. Let's move now, shall we?" He says finally reaching to let their lips meet.
Cadence groans and hides her head on his neck once again.
"Can't we stay for another hour?" She protested and let herself nuzzle the latter's neck. Raleigh just stays still as she does, holding her tighter.
"You know just how much I'd love that but I bet Fiona would disagree." Just then, her phone buzzed once again. Fiona's caller ID appearing on her screen. Raleigh takes it and answers the call.
"Hey, Fiona." He answers brightly. His husky voice long gone. Cadence chuckles as Raleigh continues bickering with her publicist on the phone.
It was after a few minutes when Raleigh sets the phone down on the night stand that he rolls them over, he ends up hovering on top of her.
"My manager talked with Fiona and it's bad news." Raleigh smirks as he lowers himself to trace kisses on Cadence's neck. She giggles at the sudden contact, lulling her head back to give his boyfriend more access.
"How bad?" Cadence asked him as he goes to kiss her on the lips once again.
"Let's just say, a pap saw me walking into your house last night." Cadence hums and pushed him to sit. She moves to straddle him.
"That's not so bad." Cadence says unfazed, trailing Raleigh's neck and chest with her fingers as she follows them with little kisses. The man held her on the waist pulling her impossibly close.
"Except they saw me carrying a box of condoms." Just like a lightning, Cadence's expression changed as she moved away from Raleigh's body.
"They did what?!" She asked, obivously surprised. Well who wouldn't be? The press will eat this issue. Especially when both of them are coming out with an album next month. Especially when they allegedly broke up three weeks ago.
"They saw me walking into your house with a box of condoms in hand." Raleigh chuckles and pulls her back to him. He leans his forehead against hers and smiles. "It isn't that bad, babe."
"Raleigh, we broke up three weeks ago." Cadence says emphasizing the word broke up as if it'll knock some sense into him.
"That's what they know." Raleigh shrugs, Cadence hits his shoulder lightly and stands up. Grabbing clean towels and heading into the shower. "Oh in the shower? Again?"
"You're not joining me for shower today, Mr.Carrera!" Cadence says out loud just as he was about to enter. He laughs and moves away going back to bed as he waits for her to finish.
This will be a long day.
---
They arrived at Overknight early since they did not make any stops today, Cadence did not even speak to him during the whole ride. She just leaned on his shoulders and not say anything. Not that Raleigh would wish for anything else though. Holding Cadence in his arms is more than enough, but surely, being able to tell the world that she is a big part of his life rather than a phase would be great. They walked into the studio hand in hand. Cadence stayed quiet despite Raleigh's efforts to open up a conversation one after another. They sat side by side into a couch in front of Fiona and Raleigh's publicist, Edward.
"I said that you two should be careful." It was the first thing they heard from the two. Cadence's heart beats fast on her chest. Unable to make herself feel at ease because of the possible scenarios this event might lead up to.
She doesn't get nervous often, but then this might affect both of their careers, and she wouldn't like it if this will harm Raleigh's career in any way. She looks down as the publicists talks about the issue, thinking of ways to avoid further controversies.
"If we're talking about publicity then this issue is definitely doing great in terms of exposure. America loved their relationship, don't you think?" Edward scrolls through twitter showing that the netizens mostly had positivie reactions regarding this.
Some even thinks it's funny how their relationship is an open secret the company is trying to hide. Cadence plays with her hands, still unable of what to make of it. Suddenly, Raleigh's hand covered hers and gives it a little squeeze. When she looks at him, she saw Raleigh grinning at her. So she smiles, too.
They continued discussing with their publicists unable to come up with a definite solution, but with the current position of the issue, it seems like there's no way that it'll worsen. After an hour, Fiona decided that it was enough talk for a day.
"I can see that the issue has no significant effect on your standings. I'll leave it up to you both."
Just like that they were dismissed. They said their goodbyes and head home right after.
---
Contrary to what Raleigh had initially thought, today went by fast. They dozed off to sleep right after they reached home and they played a couple of movies during the afternoon, making out a few times in between. Yet, they still haven't decided on what they should do next.
It was night and Cadence is almost done cooking for dinner. Raleigh, on the other hand, is on the kitchen bar stool when he decided to bring the topic up.
"I want to go public." He says randomly as he takes in the sight of his girlfriend moving across the kitchen. Looking a lot more beautiful wearing her messy bun and without make ups on.
This is the kind of sight he would kill to see everyday. The kind of moment he would like to boast around the world. He's the lucky man who gets to eat Cadence Dorian's cooking every day, what's there not to be smug about? He chuckles when he realized Cadence still hasn't moved since he says it. He stands up and goes behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and leaning down on her shoulder.
"I want to tell the world that we own each other, Cadence." He says, placing a soft kiss on her exposed shoulder. Cadence turns the stove off as she looks over her shoulder to reach his lips for a kiss.
"What if some of your fans become mad again?" She says, now leaning her head into Raleigh's chest.
"They're not fans if they act like that. Besides, I don't intend on having fans forever. On the other hand..." he trails off and perched a kiss on top of her head. "... I plan to stick with you from now on."
Cadence chuckles at this, turning around and dragging Raleigh back into the living room where she pushed her boyfriend into the couch and she sits on his lap. Raleigh's arms are wrapped into her in seconds.
"Is this real? Raleigh Carrera being cheesy? Sounds like headlines to me." She teased as she loops her arms around Raleigh's neck.
"Make it a headline then, I don't care." He says nuzzling her neck. "If that's how you want to go public then so be it. Good way, too, since they'll realize I probably plan on marrying you."
"And do you?"
"Of course, hermosa." He chuckles placing yet another kiss on her neck. Cadence giggles and hugs him tighter.
"I love you."
"I love you more, Cadence."
"You go and tell the world how crazy you are for me then."
Raleigh placed one more kiss before the latter stood up and heads back into the kitchen. He follows after a few seconds hastily snapping and image of his girlfriend. Then he opens twitter and types, attaching the picture he just took, clicking on the tweet button once he's done.
He chuckles as their friends replied one by one. The people went crazy, as their names enter the worldwide trends in just a few minutes. Cadence confusedly looked at him as she unlocks her phone only to see his tweet.
"God, why is my boyfriend like this?" She frowns and placed their food in front of Raleigh who is still busy scrolling through the tweets. Cadence sits beside him and sends a tweet.
"What's this? You actually don't mean..." Raleigh trails off and shakes his head, moving closer to Cadence. "Nah, you won't break up with me." He says sneaking his arms around her waist immediately.
"Oh, who told you?" Cadence raises her eyebrows, bringing her tweet to life as he teased his boyfriend. Yet, Raleigh didn't budge. He still wears his confident smirk, inching himself closer to her. He leans his head on Cadence.
"You did."
They both laughed as they started eating. Finally relieved that they wouldn't be sneaking out for a date tomorrow, or the next few days, or ever. They happily ate dinner. Glad that they can finally date freely now.

Into the Unknown- Sam Winchester x Reader
The reader is a Disnerd and is obsessed with Frozen. She watches the movie constantly and plays the soundtrack at high volume in the Bunker. How do the Winchester Brothers react?
A/N: So, I just watched Frozen II with my Mom last night and my favorite song is Into the Unknown. Panic! At The Disco’s version is really good too! I’ve been this singing this song like crazy so I thought to incorporate the Winchesters into my singing world.
DISCLOSURE: I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE RIGHTS TO DISNEY OR ITS AFFILIATES! Lyrics are used for reference purposes ONLY
Warnings: Dean being (slightly) mean, fluff, Disney singing, Sam being adorable
Word Count: 1429
Masterlist
There was something about the Frozen movies that just inspired you. Whether it was the bond between sisters, Anna and Elsa learning to respect each other’s differences and learning to love one another, or the goofiness and all-around adorable snowman that is Olaf. Maybe Sven and Christoff are what you love; talking Reindeer’s are the big thing. Whatever the case may be, you couldn’t get enough! You’ve sat and watched the movie religiously since it came out on DVD and you played the soundtrack on repeat from your room, occasionally leaving the door open. Especially when the brothers or Cas weren’t around, you’d leave your bedroom door open and crank your TV as loud as you could. The song you loved the most was Into the Unknown. Something about this song stood out to you more than the others. You can relate to needing to follow someone or something into the unknown; that described your hunter life. Originally, you were just a normal college student but soon after you graduated, your brother was killed by a shapeshifter and with the help from the Winchesters, you eventually defeated the monster and joined their little “clan” of Supernatural hunters.
One day, while Sam, Dean and Castiel had been out on a hunt, you decided to clean up around the Bunker so of course, you played Into the Unknown and sang along as loudly as you could. You hadn’t realized the other hunts had come back earlier than they said they were going to, so you didn’t hear them come in. They remained silent as you continue singing and cleaning. Everyone froze in their places; your voice was captivating to them. No, you didn’t see yourself as a great singer, yet the angel and the Winchesters couldn’t seem to do anything at the sound of your voice. Sam, Dean, and Cas appeared to have been in a trance, and as you turned around, you jumped when you saw them staring at you.
“Holy shit you guys, you scared me! What…what the hell are you guys doing home so early?” You say, holding your hand over your chest.
“We finished our hunt a bit earlier than we thought it would take,” Cas explained.
“Oh, well, sorry, let me turn this off then.” You say, hitting the power button on the small remote you took with you to control your TV.
“You didn’t have to do that, Y/N. We thought you sounded good.” Sam complimented you, to which you just blew him off. Not being rude to him, you just smiled and looked away from him. Compliments from Sam were something that meant a lot to you. He didn’t give them out often, but when he did, it hit home for you. You admit, you had a big crush on the younger Winchester but admitting that to him is something you can’t do. Not like he had a long relationship with anyone and it wasn’t his fault either.
“Well, I, uh, I’m going back to my room.” You scurry off as quickly as you could, ignoring the calls from Sam.
“That was weird. I hope she’s okay.” Sam says to his brother and best friend.
“Who knows with her. She’s kinda moody sometimes.” Dean says, to which Sam whacks his arm. “Ow!”
“I wonder if she is menstruating.” Castiel suddenly said, surprising both Winchesters.
“What?” Dean asked, eyeing the angel suspiciously.
“Well, I read in one of the books I found in the library about women and it said when they menstruate, they tend to be very ‘moody.’” Cas explained.
“How can you read about that crap, Cas?!” Dean asked, astonished the angel would find interest in that topic.
“It’s good stuff to know Dean. Y/N is the only female in this Bunker. Being able to help her out wouldn’t kill us.” Sam said.
“Whatever, you guys can help with the blood and mood swings,” Dean said, shivering at the thought.
“Good to know where you stand, man,” Sam said, rolling his eyes at his brother.

There's a thousand reasons I should go about my day
And ignore your whispers which I wish would go away, oh
Whoa
You're not a voice, you're just a ringing in my ear
And if I heard you, which I don't, I'm spoken for I fear
Everyone I've ever loved is here within these walls
I'm sorry, secret siren, but I'm blocking out your calls
I've had my adventure, I don't need something new
I'm afraid of what I'm risking if I follow you
The lyrics to that song from Frozen was playing from Y/N’s room again. She’s been listening to it nonstop and singing her little heart out. Honestly, I loved the sound so I crept over to her room, and leaned in close, to hear her voice better.
Into the unknown
Into the unknown
Into the unknown
(Oh)
(Oh)
God her voice was absolutely beautiful. Snap out of Sam! You can’t think like that. Don’t let her get too close; you can’t lose her like all the others.
“Whatcha doing little brother?” Dean said, suddenly appearing behind me.
“Jesus, Dean! Quit doing that!”
“Are you spying on y/n?”
“No, I’m listening to her sing.”
“She’s singing that stupid Frozen song again, isn’t she?”
“Yeah.”
Dean rolls his eyes, “can’t she pick any better songs?”
“Oh, leave her alone, Dean! I think she sounds beautiful.” I defend y/n.
“Really?”
“Yeah, haven’t you seen the way her face lights up when she watches the movie? How passionately she sings? I mean, you can tell it’s from within.”
“And you’ve noticed all this?”
“I have.”
Then Dean gasps, “oh my God, you like y/n!”
My eyes widen. “What? No, no I don’t like her.” I scoff.
“Oh yeah? ‘Do you see the way her face lights up?’ ‘I think she sounds beautiful?’ Dean mimics me, proving his point.
“Okay, okay, fine. I might have a bit of a crush on y/n.”
“Ha, I knew it! Sammy’s in love!” Dean cheered.
“First off, it’s Sam. Second, I’m not ‘in love’ I just, really care about her.”
“Sure, you do. Okay, well, you gotta tell her! Y/N!” Before I even get to react, Dean calls for the girl and, I begin to panic.
“Hey guys, what are you doing in the hallway?” She asks, opening the door, and looking at us. She looks adorable, with her hair tied back in a high ponytail, a tank top, and short shorts.
“Sam has something he’d like to talk to you about,” Dean said, turning to look at me, while I just stood awkwardly.
“What’s up, Sam?” She questions me, craning her neck a bit to look up at me.
“I uh….”
“Sam? What’s going on? You know you can trust me; we’re best friends.”
“I know, y/n, I know. I just. Okay, please let me get this out before you say anything.”
“Alright.” She says, crossing her arms over her chest, that doesn’t do too well at showing she’s not wearing a bra. Damnit, Sam, focus!
“Okay, well since you first came to live here, I was immediately attracted to you but I didn’t want to ruin things between us, just in case you didn’t feel the same, and the fact we live in the same place might make it all uncomfortable. I swear I tried fighting it but then you started singing Frozen songs and you make this really cute face when you watch the movie; your whole face lights up! And I really care about you and don’t want anything to happen to you. I have a strong need to protect you at all times and to be near you. And if that scares you, then good. Cause I’m absolutely terrified of falling in love with my best friend.”
“Sam, I-I’m so glad you said that because I am too. I am so scared to fall in love, let alone with you, but if you’re willing to, I want to give this thing a try. I really like you, too.” She says.
“Oh, thank God!” I said, bringing her close to me to seal our deal with a kiss.
“Okay, this is weird since I’m pretty much half-naked here.” She laughs.
“Nah, it's fine. This is a really good look on you.” I wink at her, leaning down to kiss her again.
“Will you watch this with me?” She asks.
“I would be honored.”

Why won't you love me now?
Tony/Rhodey
Summary: The thing about your best friend constantly bringing up your crush is that it becomes increasingly harder to keep the fact that he’s the said crush a secret, Tony discovers.
Words: 2 102
Tony had never been one to hide his attraction to someone. Had never found any need to pretend he wouldn’t say yes if someone in particular proposed a night filled with more pleasurable activities, and if his friends mentioned it he wouldn’t lie about it. But it became an entirely different thing when that lust turned into something else.
He wasn’t subtle.
At all.
And he fucking hated it.
Rhodey was the one to notice it first with Pepper. Tony could deny it all he wanted, but it was so painfully obvious to both of them that he’d harbored feelings for that woman for years. Through one nights stands to kidnappings to iron suits. He’d had it bad. Rhodey hadn’t pressured him, but this time around, after he and Pepper had gone their separate ways and remained friends, neither he nor Pepper herself were taking his bullshit.
Tony didn’t know what to do about it.
“You ask them out yet?”
Tony rolled his eyes. “Hello to you too.”
Rhodey glanced up from his phone. “Hi. You didn’t answer my question.”
“If I had a date with someone you would be the first one to know,” Tony replied, grabbing a tangerine and peeling it at the counter, mostly to not have to look at Rhodey sitting at the kitchen table. “What’s it to you anyway?”
Rhodey laughed. “Testy. It was just a question.”
“One I hear way too often.”
“I figured I could remind you of the fact that they won’t wait around forever.”
Tony stilled his fingers. “Who says they’re not taken already?”
“With your track record I feel like they’re not. You wouldn’t waste time getting to know someone like that if they were.”
“You think I would stick around someone purely to sleep with them?” He resumed his peeling. “When I fall for people it’s because we were friends first, you know. Not because I planned on it happening.”
Rhodey sighed, and Tony glanced to the side to find him holding up his hands. “All right, I give.”
“I’m happy single anyway.”
“I don’t doubt that, but Tones.” Rhodey tilted his head at him. “I know you. I know you have no problem having fun with people you barely know, but- well, you don’t do that when you like someone.”
“Your point?”
“I can tell it’s a lot easier for you to say you’re content rather than act like it. Because you’re not.”
“Content.”
“Yeah.”
Tony popped a tangerine piece into his mouth. “You done analyzing me?”
“I know your breakup with Pepper hurt you. I don’t want you to make bad decisions due to fear, s’all.”
“Why you claim I’m in love with someone is beyond me.”
“Who said anything about love?”
Tony pointed at him. “You got me there. Want a piece?”
Rhodey held out his hand. “Changing the subject, I see.”
“You’ll steer it right back in that direction soon enough,” he said, taking two steps to hand him the fruit. “Jesus, you’re obsessed with my feelings.”
“Only because I’m quite pleased that you have any.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Any man who has gone through what you have would shut themselves away from everyone. Which you do. But I’m just glad you let someone in for long enough to feel something again.”
Tony hummed. “What about you then? Any dates in the horizon? Don’t think I haven’t noticed you’ve been single since Carol.”
Rhodey’s face betrayed nothing. Tony had suspected he’d been over Carol for a while now, but it still didn’t explain the perpetual singleness. “No… proper dates, no.”
Tony patted his shoulder. “As long as you’re happy. See? I don’t force you to make moves.”
“I’ve never forced you, Tones. I just- I don’t want you to suffer when you could very well have them if you only asked.”
“I can’t have them, Rhodey. The world doesn’t work like that.”
“So there is someone?”
Tony didn’t reply. Popped another piece of his tangerine into his mouth. Chewed slowly, swallowed loudly. “Come on. I have a meeting in twenty.”
Rhodey had failed to realize Tony’s feelings were toward him. Tony had failed to mention it.
*
The first time Tony had crushed on someone Rhodey noticed it immediately.
“Who is it?” he’d asked, all amusement as Tony’s teenage self had blushed to his scalp.
“How did you know?” he’d demanded rather than denied.
“You’re a walking ray of sunshine recently, and it finally clicked why. Now spill.”
Ever since then Tony had been so very aware of how easy he was to read that he almost always told Rhodey at least some variation of the truth if feelings had gotten involved. Usually Rhodey didn’t ask for too much. A name, and if he couldn’t get it out of him he never forced it out. He usually figured it out anyway.
The older they got, the less they properly talked about it. Rhodey had practically been quiet about Pepper, even though he’d known before Tony probably had. It was such a big deal when you were younger, and now it was part of life. What kept him bringing it up was the fact that Tony apparently got so stingy about the subject that it was like free entertainment.
“It’s the only times I see you timid,” he’d once said, and Tony had cursed the fact that he couldn’t keep a small fucking crush to himself. Cursed the fact that he couldn’t talk about it either.
“How exactly can you tell if I-”
“Like someone?”
“That.”
“Well,” Rhodey had said, the two of them still young. Barely fresh out of college. “You just give off that vibe.”
“Elaborate.”
“You look like you need to tell me something or else you’ll burst, and then you rarely do.”
Maybe it was a best friends thing, but the Avengers seemed to notice his enamored behavior too, though only Nat brought it up once and then never again.
“How does one fall for his best friend after so many years?” was what she’d said. Fuck if Tony knew. He’d always loved Rhodey, and then suddenly he loved him in another way as well. An additional way. If Rhodey didn’t love him back, which he didn’t, Tony would still keep his friend in his heart for the rest of his life.
It was a bit of a tragedy.
Rhodey could never know.
Tony had become an expert of not seeking Rhodey out when he was having a Rhodey-related crisis, which was almost every other night. It was strange not going to the one person you always went to while down, but Tony realized how a decision like that wouldn’t help him in the slightest.
But it didn’t stop Rhodey from seeking him out when he was having a bad night.
“Do you think they’ll let me live if I quit?” he asked the moment he entered Tony’s lab. “Because trust me, I am so very close to quitting.”
Tony glanced up at him, literally knee deep in a new creation. “Should I threaten them?”
“Not even Tony Stark could do that.”
“Is that a challenge?”
Rhodey’s lips twitched upward. “No, Tony. Not even close.”
Tony huffed. “Give me a sec.”
He heard Rhodey sit down on the leather couch, knowing he didn’t need to offer him anything. If Rhodey wanted something he would simply have gotten it for himself on his way here.
“Whatcha working on?” he asked after a moment of silence as Tony scrambled to finish up his current task.
“New suit. There might be something for you too somewhere.”
“I’m intrigued.”
“I had some time over.”
“Of course you did.”
Rhodey looked exhausted when Tony emerged, oily and sweaty and not entirely sure if he was happy he was in a tank top or not. Surely showing off the body Rhodey had seen for over twenty years wasn’t going to make a difference, but he liked to think that maybe it could.
Tony tilted his head at him. “What’s up? You look rough.”
“Long week. Month really.”
“You wanna talk?”
“Nah. It’s nothing. Just a lot going on right now.”
“Well, I have a still functioning pair of ears in case you change your minds.”
“Thanks, Tones.”
“Don’t mention it.”
“I could use a drink, though.”
“I have to do everything around here.”
Rhodey smirked. “I didn’t hear you say no.”
“Because I’m not an idiot, Rhodes.”
“You know what?” Rhodey grabbed his wrist. “Let’s get dinner.”
Tony tried to not freeze too much at the sudden contact. “Pizza?”
“Chinese?”
“Your wish is my command. JARVIS, you hear that?”
They’d only taken a few bites of their food half an hour later when Rhodey brought it up. “So. No dates in the horizon?”
Tony rolled his eyes so hard he almost feared they’d get stuck. “For Christ’s sake, Rhodey.”
“Just checking.”
“Why is this so important to you?”
“Because I care about you.”
“I know you do.” Not the way Tony wished he would.
But it was fine.
It was whatever.
(It really wasn’t.)
But he was content anyway.
*
Pepper found out after their semi monthly movie night. “The way you look at him,” she said, voice so soft Tony almost wanted to cry. “How long has this been going on?”
“How exactly do I look at him?”
“Like he hung the moon.”
He is the moon, Tony didn’t say. The only light guiding him through the darkness.
“Bull,” he said aloud.
Pepper tried so obviously to not smile at him. Tony wished, not for the first time, that he wasn’t so fucking transparent.
“It’s a good thing you didn’t try to keep Iron Man a secret,” was all she said, and Tony could only laugh and laugh.
*
“Are you ever going to tell me who they are?”
“Why is that important?”
“It isn’t.” Rhodey shifted, Tony’s hoodie slightly too small on him. “But it’s been months now and I still can’t figure it out. Is it someone from the team?”
“Depends on what team.”
“The Avengers.”
“Not entirely.”
“I like that you’ve stopped denying it.”
“Denying got me nowhere, evidently.”
Rhodey tilted his head, observing him. “You look weary. All that excitement is gone. You don’t even blush anymore.” He touched the inside of Tony’s wrist with his fingertips. “What’s going on?”
Tony looked at the dark water before them, the two of them in Malibu like old times. Neither of them acknowledging how different things actually were. “Turns out crushes that lead nowhere are exhausting.”
“Did they reject you?”
“Not with words.”
“With actions?”
“Well, no. But I know they don’t feel the same.”
“They must be a fool.”
“No. They could set the world on fire and I would trust their judgement.”
“Big words, especially coming from you.” Rhodey stroked the sensitive skin, sending shivers up Tony’s arm. “They must be something.”
“He is.”
“He, huh?”
Tony turned back to him and saw something in his eyes that he couldn’t entirely identify. Almost… sorrow?
He blinked. “Rhodey-”
Rhodey withdrew his hand. “It’s getting a bit chilly out here.” He stood. “Let’s go back.”
Tony listened to his steps in the sand, pieces he couldn’t comprehend flying around his mind in a desperate attempt to come together and make sense. The chair fell as he rose, body shaking for different reasons than Rhodey had claimed. “Rhodey.”
Rhodey stopped. Turned back. “Yeah?”
Tony licked his lips, breathing heavily than he should. “Do you really think I should tell him?”
Rhodey looked at the darkening sky, at the sea, and then finally at Tony. “I do.”
“Even if he ends up rejecting me?”
“He’s a damn fool if he does.”
Tony took a step closer. “Rhodey.”
“Tones?”
“How should I do it?”
“For heaven’s sake, Stark. Just tell the goddamn truth.”
Heart hammering so frantically against his chest, Tony took another couple of steps. “Okay.”
Rhodey mimicked him. “Okay?” He could see Rhodey’s face more properly now. His expression unreadable.
Tony inhaled. “Okay.” He leaned in, stopping with his lips only inches away from Rhodey’s, and said, “Is this version of the truth good enough?”
Rhodey closed the gap.
*
“I kept asking because I had to know,” Rhodey said a few hours later, the room dim and slightly too warm, but no power could make Tony move out of the tangled heap that was Rhodey and him.
Tony squeezed him. “I get that now.”
“I wasn’t too obvious, was I?”
“Maybe to others, but I was too busy freaking out every time you asked.”
Rhodey laughed. “I’m glad we figured that out.”
“So am I, honey. So am I.”

Rio: I mean, when you think about it Rio: is it just us on your private beach Rio: or other people too, just you know, not your sister or mine etc Buster: It's me and you Buster: Why who else do you want to be there? Rio: No one Rio: I see it the same too Buster: Good Rio: Doesn't it confuse you too Buster: No Rio: How are you so sure Buster: I'm never wrong Rio: 😂 Buster: I'm serious Buster: I have great instincts and I trust 'em Rio: But when everyone else would think it's wrong Rio: if they knew Buster: I don't care what anyone else thinks Buster: I do what I think is right Rio: I just can't be like that Buster: I know Rio: you think I'm stupid Buster: You're not stupid Buster: I wouldn't be your best friend if you were Rio: I trust myself but I trust them too Buster: Yeah Buster: It's not like I don't trust anyone but me Rio: just not about the things you wanna do Buster: I'm just not gonna let anyone stop me Rio: Yeah Buster: It's what my mum and dad taught me so they can't be mad Rio: I guess not Rio: but they would be Buster: They always are Rio: True Rio: they must be proud though Rio: all the shit you do Buster: 'Course Rio: so that's gotta feel good, yeah Buster: They'll be even prouder of me by the time I've got my own island Rio: everyone will Buster: So don't worry Rio: I'm not Buster: I know you are Rio: Not for you or your ability to get an island Buster: That's just an example Buster: Of how much you don't need to worry about all the things you are Rio: maybe you aren't worried enough Buster: Maybe life's too fucking short Buster: Or I've got other things to worry about Buster: Right now Rio: I'm not asking you to care Buster: So now you're saying I don't Rio: You said it? Rio: There is more important shit Rio: I don't disagree Buster: I never said I don't care about you Buster: Or what's important to you Rio: It's alright Rio: I get it Buster: You don't if that's what you think Rio: It doesn't matter Rio: today isn't about either of us Buster: Don't tell me what does or doesn't matter Rio: You know what I mean Buster: I care about what I care about whatever day it is Rio: yes but we don't need to talk about this when we're just talking in circles Buster: I'm talking in a straight line Rio: blame me if you want, go ahead Buster: I'm not gonna fight with you just 'cause you want me to Rio: I don't wanna fight Buster: I don't want to, you don't want me to like you any more Rio: because I can't trust me Rio: and it's scary Buster: You can trust me Rio: can I Buster: You know you can Rio: but Rio: what if we both want the same thing Rio: who would stop us Buster: We both said it won't happen again and we both don't say shit we don't mean Rio: Okay Rio: right Buster: It will be okay Buster: Trust me Rio: I'll try Rio: I will Buster: Do you want me to leave when my parents do? Rio: No Rio: I wanna be friends, I meant that too Buster: We are friends Buster: We'll still be friends if I go back with 'em Rio: but stay Buster: I don't want you to be confused or scared or worried or any of that shit Rio: being with you makes me the most happy though Buster: Really? Rio: I wouldn't wanna spend all summer with you and be your best friend if it didn't Buster: I'll stay Rio: Good Buster: I'll stay with you until I have to go to London Rio: then what Buster: Then I'll come back and see you whenever we want Rio: Okay Rio: that's good too Buster: And you can visit London as well Buster: We'll talk all the time just like we do now Rio: I was just checking Rio: that you want that too Rio: not to just go back to how it was at the end of summer Buster: I can't go back to that Rio: Me either Rio: so don't Rio: and I won't Buster: Okay Rio: sorry Buster: What for? Rio: making it weird there Buster: Don't be Rio: but I am, today is gonna be fun and I ain't selling that at all Buster: We're not even there yet, there's loads of time, like Rio: Did I mention the marshmallows? 😏 Buster: You did but cheers for reminding me Buster: I'm well hungry Rio: You need car snacks Buster: There are but it's all fruit and shit Buster: Cheers Nance I really fucking fancied a carrot stick and some hummus Rio: 😂 Rio: you can always burn her marshmallow as payback later Buster: Distract her for me, yeah? Buster: Christ knows how she's related to me Rio: Of course Rio: you don't even look alike, its so weird Buster: I'd say she got swapped but like you've said before she looks too much like she belongs here Rio: You could be swapped, if you like Buster: She'll be less weird in London when we don't have to live with our weird aunt Rio: Its the only drawback of coming back here tbh Buster: Still, they should just let me stay here with nan and granddad Rio: You mean you don't wanna live with Ro all on your own 😂 Rio: must not be an Irish school posh enough Buster: She wouldn't make me weird, I do what I want Buster: They don't want me going to a catholic one and I don't either to be fair Rio: Imagine when she has her kids Rio: how weird they'll be Rio: poor things Buster: She'd need a boyfriend first Buster: And nobody wants to go out with someone that weird Rio: She only needs to pretend 15 minutes Rio: that's how long it takes, like Rio: but she'll probably marry another doctor Buster: She couldn't pretend for 5 Rio: 🤞 he's quick Buster: Well glad the snacks are shit now I won't be car sick at the idea of that Rio: 😂 Rio: Maybe Drew will come back Rio: complete the set, like Buster: Nobody wants him back Buster: He'd have to be a glutton for punishment Buster: Maybe if he found god in prison Rio: Not like he sticks around so Buster: Anyway I heard my mum say Ro can't have babies Buster: She said she's more likely to die than get married Rio: Do they hate each other Buster: I don't think mum loves anyone but us and dad Buster: But you can't hate your sister, can you? Not properly Rio: I've heard Ro telling my mum that yours resents her Rio: its different but kinda the same, yeah Rio: I don't know Buster: Sometimes I wanna be an only child too, don't you? Buster: And that's without all the bad stuff that happened to her that we aren't allowed to talk about Rio: When they're like all crying and screaming at the same time Rio: but I'd probably get bored Buster: I wouldn't let you be bored Rio: I know Rio: but we ain't together day to day Buster: Maybe we would be if we were the only kids our parents had Buster: Everything would be different, like Rio: Maybe Rio: no point thinking about that though Buster: We probably wouldn't be best friends if you had to see me everyday Rio: You reckon Buster: Yeah Rio: You aren't that annoying Rio: give yourself some credit, like 😏 Buster: You're just gonna drown me to try and prove you can then? Rio: I am now Rio: your fault Rio: keep putting it in my head Buster: I'm SO scared, babe Rio: Shut up Rio: all be over soon and you won't be scared of nothing Buster: Make me Buster: I'm scared of nothing already Rio: 'course not Rio: everyone's scared of something Buster: Maybe other people are but I ain't Rio: that's bollocks Buster: It's not Rio: 🤷 Buster: Don't call me a liar Rio: I didn't Rio: I just don't believe that Buster: Then you are Buster: You're saying I'm lying Rio: It can be true to you and not me Rio: it's noting to argue about Buster: Nah, you either believe me or you don't Rio: I believe you believe it Buster: That's what parents say when they don't believe you Rio: It doesn't matter, if you believe it then that's what counts Buster: Stop telling me what matters Rio: I'm just saying like Rio: I ain't trying to start shit Rio: I'm just not gonna agree with you for sake of, you know Buster: I don't want you to Buster: That'd be really boring Rio: Well I won't Rio: you can trust that Buster: I'll teach you some more boxing when we get there if you calm down Rio: I'm so calm Rio: can't say the same for this lot Buster: If you say so Buster: It's your bet to lose if you don't pay attention Rio: What's gonna distract me Buster: I will Rio: That's cheating, I reckon Buster: You said I had to teach you properly and I am Buster: There's loads of distractions when you're in the ring Rio: Okay Rio: fair enough Rio: I'm so zen Buster: Even more distractions if you just wanna hit someone 'cause you're 😡 Rio: It's all about control, I know Rio: I'm already a pro Buster: We'll see how much control you've got Rio: Yeah Rio: you will Buster: 😏 Rio: wipe that smirk clean off, like Buster: I look forward to seeing you try, babe Buster: [Shows up to your function] Rio: [the excitement is real from everyone lbr] Buster: [Nobody let Nance be in charge of the presents cos she'd either forget them in the car or drop them, you sort it boy it'll make you feel important] Rio: [come at the birthday girl who's probably wilding somewhere] Buster: [They'd probably get her such a good gift cos Buster probably picked it and is a wild boy with good taste] Rio: [they would always come through on that gifting front we know it] Buster: [enjoy it Edie babe cos rudely your bdays are downhill from here] Rio: [sad times] Buster: [I'm not even gonna think Buster: [lowkey everyone but Nance and Junie like] Rio: [unathletic gays] Buster: [kids Buster is gonna make you cos he's that bitch] Rio: [force that participation lmao, something for the dads to oversee like byeeee] Buster: [Fraze like allow me to get too involved in this and bury my actual feelings nbd] Rio: [exactly dr phil] Buster: [Poor Nancy does not need her dad and brother in her grill like this soz she's not a sporty gay] Rio: [soz babe this ain't your bday sneak over and help the mums set up 'cos Rio would be 'cos mini mum] Buster: [run girl run] Buster: [and Buster don't get distracted by your bae gotta win this shit boyy] Rio: [realistically you've not got much competition they all too lil so enjoy that easy win babe] Buster: [Edie is probably his closest competition and she's not taking it as seriously so] Buster: [But I like to imagine him helping the little ones too cos he's a good boy and family orientated really] Rio: [Rocky is like 17 so it can be him and Fearghal on a team with some littles and then Fraze and Buster with the others, also imagine lil baby Janis awh] Buster: [I love that so much bye and yeah Janis is Buster's fave of the littles always so he's having her on his team shamelessly] Rio: [baby Grace gonna be falling god bless] Buster: [She'd be dancing when she's supposed to run cos she always dancing as a bub] Rio: [that twerk dance babies do lmao] Buster: [imagine all the food and drink options cos Caleb has come thru bitches] Rio: [picnic mood] Buster: [we know Buster sitting next to Rio and none of y'all can stop him but also baby Janis cos they so won bye] Rio: [you know they're just sharing a plate] Buster: [it's the child friendly equivalent of sexily feeding each other crepes] Rio: [a mood, even if everyone else has to be here, like] Buster: [likewise she should put sun cream on him cos he white af and then he can playfully get her on her nose with it or something cos also a mood] Rio: [imagine the burning otherwise lol, Nancy just like I too am white btw] Buster: [Exactly she HAS TO it's not flirty at all even though he wouldn't burn and Nancy so would] Rio: [yet again everyone, where are you, what are you not seeing here] Buster: [Tess sort it out] Buster: [Also who's being annoying they can bury in the sand together because couple goals as a child tbh] Rio: [so many options lmao] Buster: [One of the adults blatantly cos you think you're bad bitches maybe Rocky cos he sucks at rounders lol] Rio: [lmao soz hun] Buster: [kill some time cos you can't go swimming together when you've just had a picnic like] Rio: [the hour rule my boo say] Buster: [nobody's drowning today] Rio: [or are they, Buster] Buster: [we all know she's a better swimmer and he's gonna sulk so hard] Rio: [we ca skip to that for more talking then 'cos yeah] Buster: [let's say he gets out of the sea and is ignoring her like in the future when they went to skerries and she thought he was flirting with that bitch haha] Rio: What's with the face Buster: [is just having such an in depth convo with his sister all of a sudden] Rio: [looking like ? but then going off to help with some activity for a bit 'cos not gonna hound him but say Nancy gets up then she'll message again] Rio: hey Buster: Just say it Buster: Whatever gloating you wanna do Rio: Will it cheer you up, like Buster: Get it over with Rio: You are funny Rio: I told you I was a good swimmer Buster: Yeah well Rio: Don't be a sore loser, you're quite good too Buster: Shut up Buster: I'm not quite good, I'm good Rio: What am I then Rio: go on Buster: You know how good you are Rio: What's the point of winning if I don't get a prize Buster: What do you want? Rio: Tell me how good I am, that's all Buster: Are you sure you don't want something else? Rio: 😂 Rio: Alright, admit you were wrong, how's that? Buster: Fuck off Rio: Your choice Rio: can't be any fairer, McKenna Buster: I reckon you cheated anyway so Rio: How Rio: jet-propellers? Buster: I don't know yet Rio: 🙄 Rio: lemme know when you work it out Buster: Alright Rio: [🤔 at him] Buster: [shaking his head cos grump] Rio: [pouts] Buster: [looking away hardcore cos he'd give in if he looks at her cute face] Rio: 😡 Rio: come on Buster: You come on Rio: What Buster: Don't make me more mad Rio: I've not done anything wrong Buster: I know but Rio: You're a show-off all the time and I'm not even and you're still angry Rio: I don't get mad at you Buster: I don't wanna be angry Rio: Why are you Rio: it was just for fun Buster: I don't know Rio: Don't ask me to do any more competitions with you Buster: Rio Rio: Its stupid if you end up mad and Rio: just no fun Buster: I won't get mad Rio: You will though Rio: you can't help it Buster: I can try Rio: You should Rio: but just 'cos Buster: Show me how to do it then Buster: If you're as nice as you are good at swimming, it'll be easy for you Rio: I never said I was Rio: I try not to be a bitch Buster: I'm saying you are Buster: So tell me what to do Rio: How to calm down? Rio: What does it feel like, when you get really angry? Buster: Like that's all there is Buster: I'm not even me anymore 'cause I could be watching myself hit something or someone but I can't stop it Buster: I don't really know how to explain it Rio: It sounds Rio: not scary because you don't like that word Rio: you like being the leader though, right? in charge Rio: but being angry is the opposite of that Buster: Yeah Buster: But I don't know how to stay in control when I feel like that Rio: Maybe its working out how you feel right before that Rio: its too late if you feel it but if you work out the before, you could stop it Buster: You mean like when you work out what your opponent is gonna do before they do it Rio: Exactly Rio: some shit that makes you mad, you might be able to avoid, but if you can't then you have to work out when to walk away before you blow up still Buster: Alright Buster: I'll come and find you and then I won't be angry anymore Rio: Yeah Rio: when you're in London, you can message me whenever Buster: You have to swear that you'll always answer Rio: 'Course I will Rio: even when I'm at School Rio: not meant to but I always take my phone in Buster: Me too, it's been confiscated loads Buster: It's so shit that we can't go to school together Rio: I know Rio: you miss loads Buster: What's the point of being angry all the time if it don't mean my mum and dad listen to me? Rio: I'd say they can't listen if you're screaming and shouting but in the case of parents Rio: they never do Buster: Fuck it, come back in the water Buster: I wanna get better at going under Rio: [Does, running like yas 'cos happy 'bout it] Buster: [Gotta let them live their best lives being cute af together in the sea for a bit] Rio: [deffo, all the others would lowkey be too small to do anything but addle so its as close to alone as you're getting rn] Buster: [utterly devastated that you can't kiss under the water though cos someone might still see you] Rio: [so much baby angst] Buster: [Take this degree of privacy and enjoy it while you can though cos at some point your sister will probably appear in the sea to 3rd wheel you again lol] Rio: [god bless you know not what you do] Buster: [I like to imagine while this is going on for them she's crushing on cute little girls at the beach] Rio: [they should all go on a walk, I'm imagining its like a Wells vibe and there's a woods before the beach, then they can go to the front and get chips for tea] Buster: [I like that vibe] Rio: [What would you like to happen/when would you like to skip to next?] Buster: [oooh maybe one of the fam is obvs jokingly like you two are joined at the hip today and they are like OH NO because we said there's clearly a vibe here like] Rio: [I like that, then casually splitting up like that isn't weirder, oh babes] Buster: [way to make it seem even more obvious children] Buster: [cos then we can skip to when they are sleeping under the stars if we want] Rio: [sounds good to me baby] Buster: [omg though such a lame game of truth or dare and never have I ever even worse than the sleepover cos Nancy and Junie are playing this time god bless] Rio: [lmao, just giving each other looks like] Buster: [they should like start playing something sneaky themselves via this like 20 questions or something idk whatever game you can do without alerting the others] Rio: [They could do MASH via messages, and maybe the question game Chloe made up? I'll start if you like] Buster: [I literally was just thinking that they should do something like that cos it's about crushes haha and it's like a less adult shag marry kill] Rio: [less blatant, though they can if they wanna tbh] Rio: Let me tell you your future 🔮🎴 Buster: How? Rio: Pick a future wife, I'll let you have 3 options, as I'm so nice Rio: you have to tell me Buster: I'll either marry a supermodel, famous actress or a WAG, obviously Rio: [whole time clearly putting this info down in her app] Rio: 👍 three cars you'd drive? Buster: Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin Rio: What colour do you want your car to be, pick three again Buster: Black, silver and Blue Rio: Now just pick three numbers, gives it away if I tell you what for Buster: 31, 6 and 1 Rio: 👍 Three places in the 🌍 Buster: London, Dublin and... Buster: Dubai Rio: Fancy Rio: okay, last one, three jobs you'd wanna have Buster: Lawyer, Footballer and Pub landlord 😏 Rio: Calculating 🧐 Rio 'Once upon a time, you met WAG and got married. You moved to Liverpool and lived in a Apartment. You eventually had 6 kids with WAG. You drove around in a Silver van. You worked as a Footballer until the age of 65, when you retire.' Buster: 😂 Rio: You could have done really badly, you got none of my joke answers, jammy git 😒 Rio: 'cept Liverpool and a van but you know, could be worse Buster: I'll need a van to ferry all those kids about anyway so cheers Rio: Seriously Rio: any more and you need a mini bus so Rio: [sends him the app] Rio: do me Buster: You ready? Rio: Born it Buster: So who are you marrying? Rio: Okay, I'll have my first husband the footballer or he'll be mad, a bazillionaire and Rio: Hmm, just put H.E Buster: What does that mean? Rio: Its initials and not your concern Buster: [IRL 😒 rn] Buster: Cars then Rio: a range rover, a jag and a limo Buster: What colours? Rio: gold, white and red please Buster: 3 numbers Rio: 3, 10 and 2 Buster: And the places you want Rio: LA, Vegas and Home Buster: Okay just jobs left Rio: A mogul, an entrepreneur and a famous just 'cos Buster: Alright, hold on Rio: 😬 Buster: Once upon a time, you met a drunk and got married. You moved to Rome and lived in a Shack. You eventually had 3 kids with the drunk. You drove around in a blue Tesla. And you were a stay at home mum to those 3 kids you had, unlucky, like Rio: 😑 Rio: That's so rude Rio: you've doomed me Buster: It's not gonna come true, babe Buster: You'd never only have 3 kids Buster: Unless he died Rio: SHUT UP Rio: you're horrible Buster: [puts his arm around her like there there but also a shameless excuse] Rio: [such a 😡 face] Buster: [whispers to her to calm down cos throwback to their earlier convo when she was helping him but also a flirty pisstake] Rio: [when you'd wanna push him so hard but cannot 'cos Junie and Nancy are still here living life] Buster: [putting a leftover marshmallow in her mouth like this will cheer you up cos they are his fave but also flirting 5ever] Rio: [at least you can hide any blushing by pretending you're just still fuming] Rio: I'm doing my own, you jinxed me Buster: I didn't Buster: You just wanna put all your secrets crushes in Rio: Why would I keep it a secret Buster: I don't know Buster: Maybe the lads are ugly Rio: Again, why would they be Rio: not blind Buster: You gonna tell me whose initials they are then? Rio: If you like Rio: have to actually know him to put him on your list though, I guess? Rio: or what's the point Buster: I'm not putting any lads on my list Buster: I don't wanna marry 'em whoever they are Rio: Then it don't matter to you then Buster: Tell me Rio: Harry Edwards, his family live near the farmhouse Rio: as near as anyone does Buster: Why do you wanna marry him? Rio: I couldn't think of anyone else Buster: So what made you think of him? Rio: We was playing out the other night Rio: he's got brothers and sisters too Rio: not as many as me but there's like 6 of them Buster: Does he go to your school? Rio: Erm I don't go to school here, do I Buster: You will though Buster: It's obvious your parents are loving being back Rio: It's gotta be good to have some time to themselves Rio: first time in a decade, like Buster: Yeah probably Rio: even if it's like an hour, better than none Buster: You can get loads done in an hour if you want Rio: You can Rio: they probably can't Buster: Most adults can't Rio: Exactly Rio: [hardcore on her phone giving herself a nice future lmao] Buster: [just trying to 👀 cos nosy bitch and we know why] Rio: 'scuse you Buster: Excuse you Buster: You're ignoring me Buster: Not very nice Rio: What? Rio: I was basically 😴 soz Buster: Well I guess I'll have to find something fun to do on my own and let you sleep Buster: Shame Rio: Go on Buster: Goodnight then Rio: Shut up, tell me Buster: Don't tell me to shut up Buster: You're meant to have manners Rio: Why are you being so rude Buster: What are you talking about? Rio: Entertain me Rio: I'm bored Buster: Yeah, now your boyfriend ain't here Rio: When was he ever Buster: [is 😒😡 cos she didn't say he wasn't her boyfriend] Rio: What's the matter, you're bored too Buster: Nah, I have a plan Rio: [nudges him like 'and-'] Buster: You're not coming Rio: Why not Buster: 'Cause Nance and Junior ain't invited either Rio: So Buster: So stay with 'em Buster: If they wake up and we're both gone that's unfair on 'em and looks bad on us Rio: So why do you get to go Buster: 'Cause it was my idea and I don't care if Nance gets angry at me Buster: Or if I get caught Rio: Maybe I have things I wanna do too Rio: I'm not being lookout for you Buster: Don't then Buster: Do what you want Rio: Fine Rio: [gets up with her shizz like good day] Buster: [walking away cos too much drama and he does have a bad plan lol] Rio: [go on] Buster: [his terrible plan is that he's gonna try and break into the golf club that skerries has cos they always fancy but he probably won't be able to do it on his own so he really should stop being a jealous moody bitch about the boyfriend she don't have] Rio: [God bless you tiny child, I assume the adults are keeping an eye so you don't get snatched so you'll probably both get told to go in or go back to sleep now, like] Buster: [cockblocked but in the sense that you need to interact again now it's the opposite haha] Rio: [just laying back down awkwardly like 😒 'cos you're 10] Buster: [furiously looking at the sky, what a mood] Rio: That was your fault Buster: Fuck that Buster: You were making loads more noise than I was Rio: You couldn't have stomped harder if you were wearing 🥾🥾 Buster: You didn't even have anywhere to go Buster: If you'd waited til I left to be dramatic, I'd be halfway to the golf club by now Rio: Well now neither of us is going anywhere Rio: and those places always have sensors everywhere Rio: keep the animals off as well as stupid boys like you Buster: Well cheers Rio: You started it Buster: You started it Buster: Don't blame me Rio: How did I Rio: it was totally you Buster: Shut up Buster: No it wasn't Rio: You were being off with me and then you wouldn't invite me Rio: how is that my fault Buster: You know why Rio: No I don't Rio: you got a nice future and everything, mine was rubbish Buster: I'm not playing again so you can get a nice future with that boy Rio: I don't want him Rio: I'm gonna put a fireman instead Rio: they're brave and they have to be really fit Buster: Until they die and you have to marry again or be alone for the rest of your life Rio: Um well your WAG could die from a botched Brazilian butt lift but I didn't put you off Buster: I wouldn't care if she did so Rio: That's just horrible Rio: she's your wife Rio: think of the six kids, like Buster: If she needs surgery she ain't good enough for me and I regret marrying her Rio: 🙄 Rio: maybe your arse ain't all that Rio: but no one is gonna insist you make it look like you got two balloons down there Buster: You're just being stupid now Rio: You are Buster: You are Buster: I'll grow up to have the best arse going Rio: [probably snorts trying to keep that lol in] Buster: [is 😏] Rio: You're so judgmental, honestly Buster: Why? 'Cause I don't want an insecure ugly wife? Buster: I bet that lad you like is neither Rio: She could be lovely Rio: what then Rio: and I don't know, I've met him a handful of times when we're back in the holidays Buster: You know what he looks like and what you think of it Rio: And? Rio: I know what lots of people look like Buster: And you fancy him so you've made a judgement there Rio: I do not, shut up Buster: Yeah you do Rio: I don't Rio: what would be the point Rio: don't even live here Buster: I didn't say you actually had to marry him Buster: Or that it's something you have any control over Buster: If you like someone you just like 'em Buster: The decisions are after that Rio: Well it's irrelevant because I don't Buster: Well you had the entire time I was doing my answers to think of yours and you still chose him Buster: That's not irrelevant Rio: I don't know, it's just a game, like Rio: not actually gonna come true, is it Buster: I know that Rio: then you were trying to look Rio: I didn't make you tell me all your actual crushes Buster: I didn't ask for any of yours Rio: don't be nosy then Buster: Don't be so fucking mysterious then Rio: You either wanna know or you don't Buster: If you'd used his name in the first place I wouldn't have cared Buster: Initials are like a game within a game Rio: I wasn't being mysterious Rio: 'cos you woulda said who the fuck is Harry Edwards Rio: it makes it more drama than it is Buster: I said that anyway Rio: Just forget I said it Rio: got a drunk anyway didn't I Buster: I can't Rio: Why not Rio: he was just the first boy I could think of Buster: 'Cause I don't want him to be the first boy you think of Buster: Some cunt I don't even know Rio: Well it couldn't be you could it Buster: Don't Rio: I'm sorry Buster: Just don't, Rio Rio: [just looking like ?! and sad but does] Buster: [rolls over dramatically or whatever as if he's going to sleep right now immediately but we know he isn't] Rio: Don't be mad Rio: not for me but 'cos you don't need to Buster: I ain't Rio: you're sleepy now Buster: Not really Rio: Don't you wanna do something then Buster: I don't wanna say something I can't take back Buster: Or do something I said I wouldn't Rio: maybe it'd Rio: I think they're all asleep Buster: [a LOOK and a half bitch] Rio: ['it'd be you' you best be so quiet honey also says a lot but also deniable like, obvs it'd be you, you're right here you know] Buster: [saying her name really quietly like he did last time cos forever a mood] Rio: ['we could-' shakes head, shrugs 'we can do anything we want, right?'] Buster: [gestures for her to come closer like he's so worried she's being too loud but we know that's not the reason cos he's also nodding] Rio: [Obviously does, pressing her forehead to his, not daring to breathe or move another muscle, like] Buster: [I was thinking if we need to stop them from kissing they could always knock heads/one could accidentally headbutt the other when they go in for it cos that's surprisingly common if you're overeager and don't really know what you're doing] Rio: [God bless] Buster: [so much opportunity for pisstaking when they hate each other too] Rio: [sad times but yes] Buster: [throwing him under the bus and saying it's his fault cos he's a prick soon] Rio: [need the ammunition you can get honey] Buster: [don't like actually hurt her with your big head though please] Rio: [lmao casual black eye] Buster: [we don't need to be explaining how that happened] Rio: [oh the shame] Buster: [do look after her and be nice and make sure she's okay while you're still a cute baby egg thank you boy] Rio: [you know in the AM all the adults will be so extra like omg what happened and he's gonna be so mad on the low] Buster: [I hope she's come up with a good lie] Rio: [blame one of the toddlers lmao] Buster: [rude but legit] Rio: [when we were on holiday once connor threw a bratz comb at this girl and it made her eye red and her parents were well salty] Buster: [let's take a moment to savour him saying sorry more and genuinely being more sorry than he will for the next few years] Rio: [god bless all of y'all, is there any more skipping we wanna do in this specific convo] Buster: [we could potentially do the next day like you said but equally don't have to cos we know the vibe]

[Tuesday, October 30, 07:29 PM]
"Taehyung...why?"
Tae kept looking down, not daring to look up in Jimin's eyes. They stood outside my door. The winds were getting colder, snow was about to fall.
"Tae...just go home for God's sake!!"
"Hyung, I..."
"What, Tae? Just say it already!" The impatience was evident in his voice: Tae shivered, whether it was because of the coldness in the weather or in Jimin's voice, no one knew for sure.
"Why do you hate me so much?" Tae said, with disbelief in his eyes. Disbelief, and tears.
Jimin looked like he was about to say something, but then he sighed.
"I don't hate you, Tae. I just...you are just such an idiot."
"I know, hyung." He said, looking down.
"Tae, don't feel bad, I didn't mean it like that."
"Yeah, I know what you mean hyung, I just..."
He trailed off. Jimin waited. For him to say something. Anything. The snow had started to fall now.
"I....need your help, hyung."
"Oh no no, Tae, no. I already said I won't help you from now on. Nope."
"Hyung, please." Tae almost begged, and he looked at Jimin's determined face, and fell silent. He looked one last time towards my door, longingly, before he turned away, very slowly...to go back. Home.
[Tuesday, October 30, 03:29 PM]
“I…” He trailed off, looking at me nervously. His eyes darted back and forth and then down.
“Yes, Jimin?”
He cleared his throat. “I just wanted to say that I think you are beautiful, and nice, and kind, and….you are basically everything I have ever wanted.”
For some unexpected reason, my heart beat faster. I put a hand to my heart to calm it down, and exhaled dramatically.
“Are you asking me out, Jimin?”
“Kind of…?” He shrugged ever so cutely, and I couldn't help but sigh. I could never stop thinking he was otherworldly : everything he did was beautiful to me, always.
“I…guess we could try.” I said, biting my lip teasingly. “I mean, yes. I say yes to you.”
“YES!” He jumped up, screaming in such a loud voice that my hand went from my heart to my ears to calm them down. “FINALLY!!!” He said, looking at Hoseok with a triumphant smile on his face.
“Marry him.” Hoseok rolled his eyes.
“Hyung..why are you so salty?” Namjoon said. “She said no to me too, you don't see me complaining, do you?”
“Eyy, what kind of game is this?” Yoongi groaned from the other side of the bed.
“Yeah, exactly!” Jungkook complained too. “We came here to help her with her closet, and instead we are sitting on this bed, playing this stupid pick up game for the past half an hour or so. At this rate, we are gonna finish when, tomorrow? Does that make sense?”
“Stop naming songs, kook.” Jin spoke from where he was sitting on the bed, his hands behind his head on the headboard, and his eyes slightly open. “You are just salty that you didn't get a yes either.”
Jungkook pouted, looking up. “I used a good line.”
I sighed. “Jungkook, asking me if I like chocolate is not a good line.”
“But you are chocolate! It was supposed to be an 'us' thing!!” He pouted even more, which made me laugh. “Kookie, sweetie, but you have to pretend not to be my best friend. That is what the game says.”
“Yeah, don't try to be oversmart, Jungkook.” Jimin said, a playful smile on his face. Jungkook glared at him, but didn't say anything, instead, he looked away.
“Okay it's Jin's turn now.” I said, frowning a little at Jungkook and then shrugging it off after a second as everyone's eyes including mine and excluding Yoongi's turned towards Jin.
Jin turned his head ever so slightly towards me and looked at me silently without moving from his position for a couple of seconds, a smile playing on his lips. I waited with bated breath, looking into his eyes, waiting for him to say something.
And then he winked.
“AHHHHH YES YES YES I SAY YES!!” I screamed.
“How do you do that???” Jungkook said, his eyes as big as saucers. Jin smiled, and closed his eyes.
“Okay..” Jungkook said, his eyes still the same size.
“I believe there is only one person remaining.” Namjoon said, and everyone's eyes darted towards someone on the other side of the bed.
“Oh nah nahh.” Yoongi said, shaking his head. “Nope.”
“It's just a game hyung, come on!” Jungkook jumped again. Yoongi looked at him with distaste. “Yeah, exactly.”
“Are you saying you can't do it because you are scared she might reject you?” Jungkook said again.
Yoongi groaned with frustration. “Fine." He turned towards me. “Y/N, you know-“
“-BTS? Yeah, we all know BTS, and we all know that line. Use something else for a change, hyung.” Jungkook interrupted again.
Yoongi looked at him as if he was going to murder him, but he turned towards me after a second, smiling. “Can I ask you out on a date, Y/N? We could go someplace nice.”
“Where you gonna take her hyung? Hong Kong?”
The next second, a pillow hit Jungkook's face, and he toppled over the bed. Everyone else started laughing.
“Are you okay, Kookie?” I asked between fits of laughter. There was no reply from his side.
"Kook, I asked if you were okay?"
"..."
“Kookie?”
“…”
“Jungkook??”
“…ow.”
Everyone else roared on the bed with laughter.
Ding Dong.
“I got it!” Jungkook, who was seemingly hurt a second ago darted out of the room as fast as lightning. I was only able to see Jimin's panicked face for a split second as he ran after Jungkook.
“JUNGKOOK NO!” He caught Jungkook by the neck of his t-shirt just before he got to the door.
“What? It's just the delivery guy!” Jungkook squealed, looking at Jimin. Jimin looked at Jungkook, but no words came out of his mouth.
“No, he is right, Jungkook.” I said, coming out in the living room. “It's not safe.”
Jimin looked at me for a second with an expression which I couldn't read, and then he smiled. One of those smiles. I felt the same sensation of discomfort, and to shrug it off, stepped forward to open the door.
Jungkook sighed. “Yeah, nothing is ever safe with my name. I swear to G-" He stopped abruptly, his eyes confused as he looked out the window.
“Jungkook, let's go inside.” Jimin said, almost pulling him along with him, an alarmed tone in his voice.
“Hyung, I think I saw-"
“Jungkook, I said, let's go inside.”
“Hyung, there is Tae-“
“Stop panicking, there is nothing.”
“You are not listening, hyung!! By that tree-"
“Jungkook, shh!!”
Jungkook fell silent, contemplating what he saw and what he didn't, as Jimin dragged him back inside the room and I opened the door to the food I had ordered.
There was something really nice about eating with my friends. They were always cracking jokes, not letting you swallow your food down your throat, making you choke on your food, and almost killing you, and then they would share their bite with me, as if that would undo the murder that they almost committed. Believe it or not, it did, I always gave in to them. I couldn't help it, they just were so adorable that I just couldn't stay angry at them with them flopping around me, saying my name in a high pitched baby voice. These were some of the best times of my life; the moment I spent with these people. It made me wonder for a second what it would be like to leave this city, leave my friends behind. Even leave my best friend behind. I felt guilty for a second. I remembered Jungkook asking me not to go. I remembered Jimin almost begging me not to leave. Would I be breaking their hearts by leaving like that? Should I stay?
I looked around at my friends. All six of them.
Six of them, but not all, Y/N.
Yeah….someone didn't want me here. Right. If he had, he would have come. If he was okay, he would have come. If he considered me as even a friend, he would have come.
If he still loved me…he would have come.
“Y/N-ah! Are you here?” I came back to my senses as Jungkook was waving his hand in front of me.
“Hmm? Yeah,” I shook my head as if that would drive all the thoughts of....from my mind. “What were you saying?”
“I am saying that pay attention, it is your clothes, you don't want anyone to ruin those for you.”
I looked around. It had been 3 hours since we had eaten, and after a little rest, everyone had decided to finally get on the clothes packing thing we had decided to do centuries ago.
“Hey what is this?” Jimin said, holding a purple colored sundress in front of him. “I didn't know you were into purple?”
“I was always into purple, Chim.” I rolled my eyes, smiling a little.
“In case you forgot, purple is our color, Jiminie.” Jin said.
“That dress looks good on you by the way, Mochi.” Yoongi said, advancing his hands towards an untouched rack of clothes.
“Can everyone stop with the nicknames please?” Jimin slumped his shoulders down, sighing dramatically.
“Oh but that makes you more adorable, Jimin!!” I pouted, and immediately gasped as I looked towards what rack Yoongi was reaching towards. “YOONGI, NO!!”
“Hey what is this?” He looked confused as he held something in his hands, looking at it, trying to decipher it. I facepalmed myself.
“....that is a bra, Yoongi.”
“What?” Everyone else turned their heads towards Yoongi at the same time. Yoongi looked flustered, his eyes darting back and forth towards everyone in the room, the bra still in his hands.
“Oh…..my God.”
“Give that to me!” Jungkook jumped towards Yoongi, as he grabbed hold of one side of the bra and started pulling it away from Yoongi. Yoongi pulled it back towards him on reflex. “Hey, what the heck are you doing?”
“Give it to me, I am giving it back to her!” Jungkook pulled it towards him.
“I can do that too!!” Yoongi pulled it back.
“Yeah but I am more comfortable with that, you will just be shy.”
“Jungkook, I am holding it in my hands, I don't think I can be shy anymore.”
“Hyung, I want to save you from further embarrassment.”
“Jungkook for the love of God I am not gonna be further embarrassed!!”
“You don't know that, hyung!!”
“Jungkook…”
“Hyung…”
“JUNGKOOK!!”
“HYUNG!!”
As they yelled, the bra snapped free from their hands, and landed on Namjoon's face. He stood silent for a second, and then he slowly pulled it down from his face, his mouth pressed into a thin line.
“Thanks, I needed that.”
“Sorry about that.” Yoongi said sheepishly, as Jungkook jumped. “Are you kidding? He said he needed that! I can give you more of these hyung, don't worry.” He said, as he grabbed another one to throw towards him.
“Jungkook stop that-" Jin came in front of Namjoon, but Jungkook had already thrown it, and it landed on Jin's face. He pulled it down in an instant, glaring at Jungkook. “Oopsy.” Jungkook said in a low voice.
“Look at you all!!” Hoseok said, laughing hysterically. I and Jimin collectively sighed.
“You all are idiots, oh my God!!” Hoseok exclaimed, still laughing, and Jungkook threw another one towards his face. “Okay, I did not need that.” was what he said in a muffled voice.
“Yeah, but you were asking for it.” Yoongi shrugged, smirking. Jungkook looked excited at his remark, putting his hand up in the air for a high-five. “No. Don't touch me.” Yoongi shook his head.
“I will show you what you are asking for.” Hoseok ran towards the rack, and Jungkook and Yoongi jumped out of the way to avoid any flying...things coming towards them. As Hoseok threw my lingerie at them, Jungkook ducked skillfully, while Yoongi stood behind Hoseok to avoid them. The one that Jungkook ducked hit Jin again, and he joined in the throwing as Hoseok ran away from the closet. Yoongi didn't miss this opportunity to hit Hoseok square in the chest again with another bra, and Jimin stood with his arms crossed, pouting at the scene while Namjoon stood in the middle of the mess. “Well, at least I am not causing it this time...?” He shrugged.
“STOP IT RIGHT NOW, ALL OF YOU!!” I screamed. Everyone froze at the place where they were, looking at me.
“The six of you, leave this room right now.” I seethed.
“But what did I do?” Jimin squealed.
“Out.” I said again, pointing towards the door.
“Oh come on Y/N," Jungkook took a little stel towards me. "You are embarrassed now? Around me? This is nothing like the time when I helped you when you got your first period, remember?”
“JEON FUCKING JUNGKOOK!!!!”
☆☆☆
“Okay, okay, geez, I will not move, relax. I will sit here quietly.” Jungkook said, sitting down on the couch in the living room a few minutes later, while everyone else stood surrounding him.
“You better not.” I fumed, glaring at him. “Just look at the mess you have created in my room.” I shivered. “Jimin, can you close the window?”
He nodded, and stepped towards the window as I turned back towards Jungkook. “Before this, I only had to pack them, now I have to clean the room up too. Jesus Christ, what am I gonna do with you?”
“Throw me in a locker, lock it and throw the key in the ocean?” He asked in a low voice.
“No, Jungkook!” I exclaimed. “Are you crazy?"
"Yeah, I know, that was a little ov-"
"There is no ocean here!”
“Wait what?” Jungkook looked up at me im disbelief.
I laughed, and all my anger melted away : as I had said before, I couldn't not give in to their adorable shenanigans.
“I am kidding, Jungkook. How about I go clean the floor up, and meanwhile you all come up with something for us to do?”
“Oh, we could play a game?” Hoseok suggested.
I sighed. “Okay, what game?”
“Twister!” “Pictionary.” “Monopoly.” “Musical Chair.” “Mad Libs!!”
All their voices came together, and I was confused. “Uh…okay. Decide for yourself, and who the heck said Monopoly?”
Everyone looked at each other, not saying anything.
“Riiight.” I sighed. “Okay, decide while I clean up this room, and....Jimin, whaaaat are you doing by that window.”
Jimin looked back at me from beside the window. “Nothing, I just…I was looking outside, it is about to snow I think.” He said, sweating a little despite of the cold weather.
“Uhm…okay." I said, frowning a little. Close the window, and come help decide the game we are going to play.”
“Okay.” He said hesitantly, and looked back outside the window, then closed it shut slowly. Jungkook kept looking at Jimin all this time with a frown on his face.
“Right. I will be back.” I said. As I walked towards my bedroom, Jimin took out his phone and started typing.
“Are you guys texting each other???”
Hearing my voice, they put their phones back in their pockets. I crossed my arms over my chest, frowning.
“Yeah, no, maybe, a little.” Jin said, looking at Jimin with a frown. Everyone else did the same thing, except Jungkook, who looked up at me with a smile.
“Chocolate, I know what game we are going to play.”
“Really? What game?” I asked.
Jungkook looked at Jimin with the same smile on his face, and Jimin flinched.
“Truth or dare.”

It's Tendou and his s/o's first Christmas that they're going to spend together at his parent's place and Tendou is super nervous because his whole family is just straight up fucking WILD and he's more afraid that his s/o won't like his family more than he's afraid that his family won't like his s/o, because who's he kidding, she's an absolute gem. Just a cute little scenario for the holidays :) I'm so glad you're back my patron saint
Hi my alias is Bee and after being gone for nearly half a year I’m back and swinging with a 5,000 word Tendou fic yes’m (Also there are a bunch of family head-canons in here for example- Tendou has two sisters and one of them is gay because why not right it’s 2017)
Also Merry Christmas Eve to all you nerds who celebrate it!
Satori stood at his bathroom vanity with his head in his hands. The sink had been running for a while now, unused, because he was far too lost in thought to even realize it was still running. His hair gel was open on the counter, and his toothbrush sat prepared right next to it. He had to get ready, he knew he did, but he was unable to do anything besides stare at himself in the mirror, his vision blurry and skewed from not blinking since he had spaced out.
He must’ve been standing there for a while, minutes, even. The background noise that the running water provided threw him further off loop, and it wasn’t until the bathroom door opened and slammed into his back did he realize that __ had been knocking. When the door knob collided with his spine, he yelped, his hands flying from his hair to the vanity in front of him. It took him a moment to process what had happened before he could compose himself. In the mirror he saw his girlfriend’s face, pale and terrified, but washing over with relief when he made eye contact with her through it and smiled sheepishly.
“Satori, I was knocking forever.” She sighed, stumbling into the bathroom and hugging him from behind. “You worry me sometimes, you idiot.”
“I know, I know.” He had somehow managed to push out a fictitious laugh, and stood up straight. Now that Satori could finally look at himself properly, he noticed that his eye bags were a lot darker than usual.
“That was a really fake laugh, hun. Are you sure you’re okay? If you’re tired or anything I have no problem just pulling up a map to your parents place and driving, if that’s what you’d like.” Hearing the mentioning of his parents place made Satori’s heart stop all over again. That’s what had started his panicking in the first place– The Holidays.
It had been established for months that this was going to be the first Christmas that Satori and __ were going to spend together. In years past they had either parted their ways to visit their respective families, or had just spent it together in the comforts of their own apartment. Although, this year, __ had insisted that they visit Satori’s family. He had met hers before, on countless occasions, actually, but she had never gotten an opportunity to meet his. It wasn’t that Satori had any problem with his family meeting __, she was incredible, he knew without a doubt that they would love her. It was quite the opposite, really. It was a miracle that she put up with him on a day to day basis, but there was no way that she could ever tolerate the likes of his family.
Satori placed his hands on __’s and gently pushed them away. She shuffled up next to him and sighed, taking his face in her hands instead.
“You look worried.”
“I am worried.”
“Oh?” She smiled, kissing him gently on his lower lip. “Am I really that terrible? Is your family gonna hate me or something?”
“Yeah, absolutely filthy. I can picture their disgust as we speak.” He joked, rolling his eyes and kissing her back. She let out an amused huff.
“Really, Satori, tell me whats wrong. You know you can’t keep shit from me.”
“Unfortunately.” He released himself from her again and grabbed the gel off the counter. He figured if he was just going to stand around, he might as well get ready. There was no escaping this situation, now.
“__, if I’m being honest with you, my family’s a mess.” He sighed, running his gelled hands through his hair. “If we had a sitcom, it would be called, “Terminate The Tendous” ‘cause we need to be stopped.”
“Please.” She hummed, “I doubt you lot are that bad. You’ve met my family before, there’s no way you can get worse than that.”
“Please, you.” Satori finished gelling back his hair and ran his hands under the water, scooting past __ to dry them. “Compared to mine, they’re nothing.”
“Care to tell me what’s so bad about your family? Are they like, serial killer bad or, Aunt Mina has a pinterest addiction bad?” She asked, moving out of Satori’s way as he positioned himself in front of the mirror again.
“Both, but not really both at the same time?” Satori shrugged. “Ah, listen, I’ve dreaded the day that I’d have to tell you this, but I think it’s about time that I’ve told you about them.” He said, in the most pretentious storytelling voice he could muster. She laughed at this, smiling up at him through the mirror.
“Dude, finally. What have we been dating for, five years now? We have our own house plants together but I don’t even know your mom.”
“House plants don’t talk back.” He muttered, barley loud enough for her to hear.
Satori took his time brushing his teeth, __ sitting on the covered toilet seat waiting for him to finish. She looked adorable, he thought. She was wearing a dark green velvet dress that flattered her eyes, her hair in soft curls around her shoulders, bangs being held back with a black hair bow. She was the image of pureness that his family devoured.
“So, I have two sisters, you know that, right?”
“Yeah, the oldest follows me on Instagram, I think.”
“Gre-eat. That would be Hana. She’s five years older than us, and three years older than my other sister, so she’s pretty much always thought she was the absolute shit.” Tendou sighed, trying to talk and adjust his dark green tie, to compliment __’s dress, at the same time. “That, and she happens to be the tallest in the family.”
“Taller than you?” __ gaped, looking up at him from the toilet seat. “How? And why? Can a sister lend me some?” Tendou smiled at this, although it was bitter.
“Never tell her that, please. She’s 6’5, and if you’ve ever seen any of her pictures, she looks pretty normal, but that’s only ‘cause she’s standing next to her husband, who’s 6’11. By the time I was in first grade, she was in fifth, and we barely crossed paths unless she was outside for lunch, and I was at the playground, or something. She had reached 5’2 by then and since I was me, a disgusting little mushroom boy–”
“You were not a disgusting little mushroom boy.” __ interrupted.
“I was a disgusting little mushroom boy. Anyway, she would always scope the playground to see if kids were bullying me and would throw them into the wood chips if they were. You would think people would stop messing with me since I had fucking Goliath following me around, but nah, being protected by my older sister made me even more susceptible to bullying, I guess. But yeah, to this day she still thinks she’s my actual Lord and Savior, so expect for her to examine you until your ears bleed, I’m sorry.”
“She sounds awesome, hun. I think her and I are gonna get along just fine.” She laughed, and Satori grimaced.
“Ye-eah, I’m sure you will.”
“What about your other sister? Is she as bad too?” __ added, sarcastically.
“Worse.”
“Worse? Oh no, don’t tell me, she works at an animal shelter, right? Donates to the church? Helps starving children in third world countries?”
“Harhar, very funny.”
“Thanks!”
“My sister, Aya, is her name, was a wrestler in high school. She went to a different high school than me and Hana, at birth she had somehow dodged the Tendou family gene of creepy ass eyes and permanent scrawniness, so I think she kept her distance from us ‘cause she didn’t want to be known as related to us, y’know.”
“I doubt it, Satori. And could you stop being self deprecating?”
“Never. But, she was, and still is, this really pretty girl, y’know, always looks really well put together, but the moment she opens her mouth– it’s hard to tell the difference between her and some fifty year old guy at a bar on Friday night.”
“Quite the analogy.” __ added.
“I’m not joking. She’s horrible. You think I don’t have a filter? She’s been kicked out of public places more times than I can count on my two hands. She was always a gem though. Despite being kind’ve an ass and pretty immature until her twenty first birthday, she knew how to beat people up, and got like, a million trophies for it, so my parents never really said anything about it.”
“Y’know, Satori, you’re making me think one of your sisters is gonna have me in a choke-hold while the other asks me for my social security number.” __ laughed, finally standing up and helping Satori fix his tie. He hadn’t even noticed that he completely unknotted the thing.
“I won’t be surprised. I’m so nervous, __, I’m so sorry. Is it too late to cancel and just go visit your parents instead?”
“Yes, its too late! We already promised that we’d spend the holidays with your parents, and spring break with mine. Besides, they live six hours away from here, we’re not prepared for that.”
“I know, I know, I’m sorry-y.”
“Stop saying you’re sorry! I have a thick skin, you know! I’m not gonna die. Watch–”
Satori had zoned out from what __ had said next. He watched her as she fixed his tie, glancing up at him every so often and smiling wider. He felt his heart squeeze again. He hated to be overdramatic, he really did, but he couldn’t help but feel like he was throwing his beautiful, little beacon of light into a gladiator stadium, and his sisters were just the opening act.
“Satori, are you really that embarrassed of your family? If they’re anything like you, I’m sure they’re incredible.” __’s words snapped him out of his daze again. He shook his head, and kissed her forehead after she tightened his tie up.
“Honestly, I’m kinda being dramatic.” He shrugged, pushing __ out of the tight enclosure of the bathroom and proceeding to follow her out. “But they don’t know when to stop. I’m sure you’ll find Aya hysterical, her and her girlfriend both– but I know she’s gonna ask you all those weird-ass questions like-”
“Are you a virgin?”
“Exactly.”
“Please, I’ve been preparing myself for these questions since we first started dating.” __ scoffed, slipping on ballet flats over stocking clad feet at the doorstep. Satori sighed, leaning against the frame of the door. He watched her pick up the two carry-on bags, to which Satori hurriedly grabbed from her. She smiled up at him wordlessly for a moment, then shook her head.
“I’m gonna be fine, Satori. Oh! And I’m driving. I don’t want your nervous ass to crash before I ever get to meet your gem of a family.”
She threw a heavy pea-coat over her shoulders before shuffling out of the door, Satori close to follow. As she started the car up, he tossed the luggage into the trunk, then filing into the passenger seat. She already had the music going, one hand on the steering wheel with the other creeping towards his thigh. She winked at him, and for the first time today, he genuinely laughed. __ smiled, for that was her plan all along, and gave his thigh a squeeze.
“I can’t believe we’re going to meet your family and you’re the nervous one.”
“Okay, okay, I’m not as nervous anymore.” Satori interrupted, placing his hand over __’s. “Ju-ust slightly perturbed. How about that?”
“Better, I guess. You still have two hours to worry your little heart out.”
Tendou sighed, fluttering his eyes shut and leaning back on the car seat. A song he didn’t know the name of droned in the background, just loud enough for him to hear, but not loud enough for him to focus on. To keep himself awake, he drew lazy circles into the palm of __’s hand, to which he heard her giggle about. He could feel his pulse in his neck, despite still being two blocks away from his own apartment. He had a feeling that this week was going to be a long one.
Satori promised himself that he would stay awake, but somehow he dozed off. __ said he was out cold twenty minutes after they left, which wasn’t odd, she said, many people crash due to stress. Satori had a hard time believing that, though. If anything, he expected himself to be puking out the window once they hit the highway. They were ten minutes away from his parents, now, and Satori was fixing his hair in the small overhead mirror of __’s car.
“Sorry I wasn’t awake to bother you.” He said, out of the blue. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw __ shake her head.
“It’s fine, it gave me time to lip-sync along to the Arctic Monkeys without being made fun of.”
Satori would’ve responded to her comment much faster, if it weren’t for the fact that __ was taking the exit straight towards the small town he grew up in. A nervous, agitated groan left him the moment she started down the road that lead towards his neighborhood.
“Does being here regurgitate bad childhood memories or something? Or do you really just hate your family?”
“Both.”
“You’re gonna have to take me to Shiratorizawa while we’re here, or at least drive me by the campus. That and like, Wakatoshi’s old house. Maybe even Tooru’s, too.”
“Oh, it’s that a little creepy, __ dearest?”
“No! I’m just saying, I’ve never been around here before, I wanna know how you and all our friends grew up, that’s all.”
“It’s literally nothing special, it’s farm, more farm, small convenience store, high school, farm, farm, bigger high school, convenience store. It’s like this for about ten miles.” __ laughed. She grew up further up the coast, and when they first met, she told him that she had “never seen a pig in person.” Satori made note to take her to see one of those while they were out here, too.
Ten minutes had passed quicker than Satori preferred. Before he knew it, they were pulling into his neighborhood, and with each turn __ took, the more and more anxious he got. He didn’t mind vocalizing his anxiety, either, sighing melodramatically each time the GPS blurted out another demand.
“Y’know Satori, this would be a lot easier if you could just tell me which way to turn to get to your house.” She added, lowering the volume without even looking at her device.
“I know, but I don’t wanna.”
“Whelp, seems like you don’t have to anymore.” She laughed, stopping almost abruptly and taking a sharp turn into a driveway, his driveway. He whined, sinking lower into his seat and covering his face with his hands.
“__, please don’t do this to me, my beautiful little angel baby, you’ll get torn apart in there.”
__ said nothing in reply, kicking her car door open and kissing Satori on his forehead, the softness of her lip balm leaving an imprint.
“C’mon, ya big baby. I’m sure your parents are waiting.”
Satori nodded, unbuckling himself and hesitantly exiting the car. __ was waiting for him, so he took her hand in his own, and walked her up the pavement towards his doorstep.
Before either one of them could even reach the door, however, it had already been slammed open, incoherent, excitable female voices ripping through the house. A brunette woman popped her head out and gasped, then all but screamed as she darted out the door into the snow in sock clad feet and straight for __. __ almost yelped as she was suddenly picked up by the woman, who was taller than her by a foot, at least. She couldn’t quite tell what the woman was rambling on about, but out of the corner of her eye she saw Satori blushing profusely into the palm of his hand, shaking his head and waiting for whoever this woman may be to put her down. All __ could do in that moment was hug the woman back, despite not even knowing her. She had to be one of Satori’s sisters, or at least she assumed so. At first glance, __ saw that she was a tall woman, not as tall as Satori, but she was up there. She had tumbling brown hair that fell down towards her waist, and when __ placed her hands on the woman’s back, she realized she had quite the muscular build. She figured it had to be Aya, she fit Satori’s description quite well.
When she was finally set down by the woman, __ noticed her eyes. Like Satori said, they weren’t as wide, or tired as his, they were almond shaped and beautiful. They were light green and complemented the freckles on her cheeks.
“Oh my god, you’re so adorable.” Aya was beaming, her hands traveling from __’s back to her shoulders, then eagerly grasped __’s hands. “I’m Aya, Satori’s older sister, it’s so nice to meet you, sweetheart.”
__ giggled and shot a glance up at Satori, who was shifting his weight from leg to leg awkwardly in the corner. It shocked him to see her smile, genuinely, and not out of sheer nerves.
“I’m __, it’s really nice to get to meet you after all this time, Aya.”
“Oh, this little idiots been talking about you for years.” Aya rasped, shuffling over the snow to pull her brother into a choke-hold momentarily. “You wouldn’t believe the things that came out of this kid’s mouth before y’all were even dating.” She laughed, ruffling with Satori’s hair before pushing him away, then pulled __ into another hug. She heard Satori sigh, then mutter something about getting the bags from the trunk. Aya paid no mind to it, and lead __ into the house, never losing her grip on the former’s hand.
The moment __ stepped foot into Satori’s house, she couldn’t help but smile. It was very his taste, she thought, from the murals of mountains of the walls to the several misplaced christmas lights hanging across the staircase, it wouldn’t be very hard for her to classify this place as ‘Tendou’.
Aya had lead her into the kitchen, next, exclaiming at the top of her lungs to, “Look at Satori’s girlfriend!” __ felt her cheeks warm up slightly, the exposure not necessarily agitating her, but definitely embarrassing her. A woman with short brown hair examined her next. She had the same, sleepy ruddy eyes as Satori had. __ noticed her eyebrow quirking upwards in the same way Satori’s did when he was examining something, and she found it hard not to call it cute. __ also noticed that nobody else in the house was red-headed like Tendou was. The middle aged man and woman standing by the stove, presumably Satori’s parents, we’re both brunettes, as well as both the sisters, despite who __ thought was Hana, whose hair was a bit lighter than the rest. Despite that one key factor, they all definitely had a familiar resemblance. __ couldn’t help but smile.
“Hi, uhm, I’m sorry. Satori’s still outside ‘cause I was kinda mauled.” __ stammered, and Aya laughed, her free hand slapping her on the back. “I’m __, it’s really nice to get to meet you guys, finally.”
Everybody had gotten up on their feet, and came over to the place where __ stood. Satori had come back with the luggage, and shuffled over to __’s side. He protectively nudged Aya out of the way and replaced her hand with his own. __ looked up at him for a moment, a smile toying on her face.
“They’re great.” She mouthed, before his mother pulled her into a hug.
Satori watched as his mother started talking her ear off, and he started blushing again. He knew tonight was going to be too long– full of repressed memories and everyone taking a stab at him to see how embarrassed he could get, and how fast.
Meanwhile __ found herself being crushed in another grasp, and wondered how everyone in this family had such strong forearms.
“Satori’s so in love with you…” His mother muttered into her ear, and for some reason, despite knowing this for years, __ felt herself get fuzzy. She merely hummed, not knowing how to reply.
“You really make him so happy… when he talks about you I swear I’ve never seen him happier, except for maybe volleyball in highschool, but that’s a different story.”
__ laughed, breaking the hug with his mother and giving him a look. He was talking with Hana, now, who really was as tall as Tendou said she was. Although, she noticed he kept sending her nervous glances every so often, as if monitoring the conversation she was having.
“It really is a pleasure to finally get to meet you, Mrs. Tendou. I really wanted to meet you before, but Satori was more nervous about me meeting you lot than I actually was.”
“Oh of course he was, that little stinker.” His mother shook her head and smiled fondly, first at __, then at Satori. “And please, don’t call me Mrs. Tendou, call me Mom.”
Satori was deep in conversation with Hana, at this point. She was asking him how school was going, how paying rent was going, and everything in between about being an adult. She hadn’t asked any questions about __, yet, but he supposed she was saving those for later. There was a moment of brief pause in their conversation, and that’s when Satori heard it, the mom comment. Suddenly his heart stopped, and Hana must’ve picked it up too, because she laughed under her breath and nudged him in the ribs.
“Oh… my go-od…” Satori muttered, slinking up to __’s slide and throwing an arm over her shoulder.
“Hi Mama.” Satori butted in, throwing his other arm around his mom and kissing her chastely on the cheek.
“Hi honey! I was just talking to your angel of a girlfriend over here.”
“I know.” He muttered through clenched teeth. She shot him a knowing, motherly look, then patted him on the back.
“We’re having dinner in ten minutes, why don’t you two go throw your things up in Satori’s old bedroom? Just so it’s out of the way for later.” His mother suggested.
“On it.” Satori nodded at __ to follow him towards the front door and the stairs, but he noticed that Hana had stretched a leg out to block the hall.
“Need any help?” She said, just sarcastically enough for it to pass as a nice gesture. “Y’know, at least one of you looks like you’d need help.”
Satori knew exactly what Hana was going at, and he hated it. He shot her a look, then glanced over at __, who had picked up on her all but selfless gesture as well. Instead of shooting a witty response back or defending herself like she always had with Satori, he was surprised to watch her cover her mouth, then laugh. This must’ve caught Hana off guard, too, because she stood up straight in the doorway and silently went to pick up a bag from the mudroom.
“That wasn’t all that funny.” He said, nudging __ in the hip once Hana was up the stairs.
“I know, it wasn’t, but that’s such a you thing to say?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I dunno. You. Your sense of humor, your way of speaking. I absolutely love it.”
The ten minutes had come and gone. The bags were placed in Satori’s old bedroom– not without being relentlessly teased about the anime posters hanging above his bed, though. Hana thought it would be funny to show __ just how many figures he had stock piled in his closet, to which __ didn’t really mind. Hana was doing it to tease her, really. Asking her questions about the weird habits Satori has, and how she deals with it. Poking fun at his appearance just to see what __ would do. (In that point in time, she just dismissed all the nerdy things she teased him about and shook her head obviously when Hana mocked his appearance.) It really amused Satori, how Hana could be so protective about him when it came to other people teasing him, but absolutely ruthless when it came to her teasing him herself.
Sitting at the dinner table, Satori found it harder to eat than usual. __ was doing just fine, though. She was having an offhand conversation with Aya in between bites of a roll, covering her mouth with her hand politely as she spoke. If it weren’t for the drastic physical differences between __ and the rest of his family, a stranger would’ve thought that this was __’s family, and Satori was the awkward boyfriend.
The rest of the conversations at the table fell quiet, everybody focused on their own thing to actually slip a conversation through. Well, that’s what Satori had thought, until Aya cleared her throat and, slowly but surely shouted, “Satori? When are you gonna pop the question already?”
Satori stiffened in his seat. If he didn’t have an appetite before, he definitely didn’t have one now. He noticed __ tense up too, covering her mouth with her hand and averting her eyes from the table to her lap. Yes, this was what he had been afraid of.
Aya’s girlfriend hit her on the arm. “You can’t just ask that at the dinner table!” She hissed, only for Aya to shrug
“I do what I want. The kids a keeper. I mean, just look at her.
__ didn’t look so great in the moment, though. Her eyes were blown wide, darting everywhere besides the faces of his family members.
“Aw, she doesn’t look too great.” Hana chuckled. “Does that mean that she doesn’t want to get married?”
Satori didn’t know whether to tell off Aya, Hana, or get his mom involved. He would’ve gone with his mother, but she looked amused, almost as if she was going to throw in a comment of her own. His dad couldn’t care less– this was the type of situation he’d call, “Lady Talk.”
“It’s not that I don’t want to get married to Satori.” __ added, uncovering her mouth. “It’s just that you guys rea-ally have a knack for saying embarrassing things at embarrassing times. Jeez!”
“You sure that’s all?” Hana teased.
“Yes, that’s all. I get that you guys are all real protective of him, with his past and him being the youngest and everything, but I can assure you that I’d never do anything to purposefully hurt him.” __ shrugged, leaning over in her seat to peck Satori on the cheek. “And for the record, we happen to get along ‘cause I’m a nerd too, so your plan to embarrass him kinda failed. There isn’t much that we haven’t shared with each other… ah… I hope that answers some of your other questions, too.” She winked at Hana, who’s smirk had faded into a dumbfound frown.
It was Satori’s turn to flush red now, he couldn’t bring himself to look over at his girlfriend, and only focused of Hana’s face. He was expecting another insult, or possibly a curse, but all she did was hold her hand up slowly, and high-fived __ from across the table.
“Atta girl, that’s what I like to hear.” Hana shouted, slapping __’s hand just a little too hard for both __’s and Satori’s liking.
“Great, great. I mean no disrespect or anything towards you, by the way. I really respect that are aren’t careless about your brother decisions.”
“Really? Thank you! Aya’s right, pop the question!” Hana shot a glance at Satori, who had buried his head in his hands at this point. Satori should’ve known all along that he shouldn’t be worried about his family embarrassing __. He should’ve known that the tables would’ve turned right back on him.
