Kol raised his eyebrow. Okay this nice thing was not his speciality. Kol wasn't even sure if he should leave. He awkwardly squirmed in his chair sipping his coffee. "Dearie you looked like you were going to cry over coffee. You expect me not to pity you." Kol questioned exasperated. There was a sigh. "Come on I wasn't born yesterday just vent to a stranger, we'll never see each other again so just say whats on your mind.. Then we can pretend this neverhappened"
She narrowed her eyes at his comment. "Don't start," she said simply as she took off her jacket and looped her purse strap over her chair, settling comfortably with her coffee. She pulled out her phone and scrolled through her camera roll, deleting pictures of her and Brad together. It hurt how happy they looked in the past, knowing what she did now. Though she'd known then too, and though herself better than fate. She looked up at his next words and narrowed her eyes. "You don't have to do that, pretend to care. Besides, I don't need the pity of a stranger. I'd just like to enjoy my coffee in peace, thank you very much."

Jeremy Gilbert x Reader
****Takes place during season 3 but made a few changes. Hope you all like it!!******
****************************************
“I don’t know if I can go back.” you said.
“Y/n please. We need you.” your brother said through the phone.
“I’m sure Damon is far better without me.” you rolled your eyes.
“He may not show it but he is sorry for how things went.” Stefan said.
“Give me some time to think about it.” you sighed.
“Ok, but please consider it.” he said.
You hung up the phone.
It’s not that you didn’t miss your brothers but they were always getting themselves into trouble.
You groaned falling back on your bed. You knew exactly what you needed to do. You packed and hit the road. You didn’t even let them know you were coming, you were just going to show up.
You pulled up to the boarding house. Regretting it but there was no turning back now. You opened the door, using your vamp hearing to hear where your brothers were.
“There is no way she would show.” Damon said.
“You need to have hope.” Stefan said.
“Til who shows up?” Caroline asked.
“Y/n,” Stefan and Damon said.
“You called her?” Caroline scolded.
“She’s not going to take this well.” Ric said.
“I’m not going to take what well..” you said, coming into view.
Everyone looked at you.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” Stefan said getting up.
“Surprise?” you sassed.
He pulled you in for a hug. Releasing you, you looked at Damon.
“I know, I know.” he held his hands up, instantly knowing what you were thinking.
You stood there, arms crossed, he sighed.
“Come here,” he gestured, pulling you in for a hug. “I’m sorry.” he whispered.
You smiled.
“God I’ve missed you.” Caroline said, pulling you into a hug.
“I am glad you’re back.” Elena smiled.
“Hey kiddo glad you’re safe.” Ric said pulling you in.
“Soooo what am I here for and what won’t I take well?’ you asked,
“Were in kind of a bind and need to visit little Gilbert to contact Rose.” Damon said standing up.
You dropped your smile.
“Don’t even think about it.” Stefan said slowly getting up.
You went to run away only for Damon to stop you. You glared at him.
“You really brought me here for that?” you yelled.
“I told you she wouldn’t take it well.” Alaric said.
Damon put you in a chair.
“Stay..” he said, walking back slowly.
“I’m not ready to face him…” you said quietly.
“Y/n, you were his best friend, first everything you are the one person who can get through to him and im his sister.” Elena said.
You looked at her. Then to everyone else.
“When do we leave..?” you said softly.
Elena smiled.
“Tomorrow.” Damon said.
You nodded.
You hadn’t realized how bad you zoned out the whole trip but you couldn’t help it. You hadn’t seen Jeremy in months and frankly you don’t even know what to say or do. He was the love of your life and nothing could change that. But finding out he was seeing Anna and then walking in on them kissing crushed you, so you left. You pulled up to the motel you guys were staying at for the time being. You plopped on to the closest bed.
“Pull yourself together.” your brother said.
“Shut up.” you said lifting your head.
Elena laughed.
“He’s right Y/n, it’s the first time in months you’ll be seeing each other.” Elena said.
You nodded.
“Alright but only because Elena said it nicer.” you stuck your tongue out at your brother.
“Child.” he rolled his eyes.
You grabbed your duffle and went to the bathroom.
“Ok, I'm ready.” you said coming out.
“Wow.” Elena said wide eyed.
You wore a long flowy rosey colored skirt with white flower detailing that hugged you perfectly and a fitted crop top with your usual accessories.
“Too much?” you said nervous.
“Nope.” she smiled.
“Great, lets go.” Damon said dragging you both out the door.
You pulled up to a batting cage place.
“Batting Cages? Ugh I hate sports.” you groaned.
“Haven’t changed I see?” a voice said from behind you.
You turned around.
“Jere..” you froze.
“..hi..” he said softly.
“Let’s finish this later shall we?” Damon said.
“I’m actually meeting a friend.” Jeremy said. “Here he comes,”
You all look to see Kol.
“Is she still hot?” Damon asks.
You roll your eyes.
“Can we get this over with?” you ask, already annoyed.
The waiting period was getting annoying, but maybe the waiting was a good opportunity to patch things up with Jeremy.
“Can we talk?” you asked him.
He looked at you and nodded.
You guys went for a walk, neither of you knowing what to say.
“I-i uh..” you both spoke at once.
You looked at him and giggled.
“You go first.” he smiled.
“I forgive you.” you stop and look at him.
“You do?” he looks at you.
“Yes.” you smiled.
“I know you cared for Anna and were confused on what to do but-” he pulled you in for a kiss.
You were shocked but kissed back. Memories resurfaced, things felt right.
“Well that was needed.” he said.
“Very.” you laughed.
“Maybe we should head back?” he asked.
“Yeah.” you smiled, taking his hand.
On the walk back to the room Rose came back and gave information. Damon definitely would want to hear. Closer to the room you notice Damon and Elena. The closer you both got the more you could see that they were in fact kissing.
You groaned.
“Elena?” Jeremy said.
They pulled apart.
“Well I'm not letting this down anytime soon.” you smiled big.
Damon rolled his eyes, Elena hid her face and Jeremy laughed.

A Very Merry Mikaelson Christmas | Elijah #13
Request: @panpurplefirebreathingdragoncat “13 with Elijah Mikaelson, I read that and it just sounded perfect in his voice.” You’re absolutely right lol
Prompt: “You cannot, under any circumstance, climb the tree! No matter how badly you want to! Please just use a ladder.”
Word Count: 1.1k
Tag List: @sesamepancakes @kpopgirlbtssvt
Christmas Master List
You stare up at the grand tree in a daze, your hands on your hips and your sweater covered in sap. Drenched in sap is a better way to phrase it. You could glue yourself to the wall with how sticky you are. There truly is no salvaging it whatsoever. You couldn't care less about the hoodie though, not when you’re standing in front of the largest douglas fir that New Orleans has to offer. Had to offer, you should say. The thirteen foot tree is definitely no longer available. You and Kol have seriously outdone yourselves this year.
Kol throws his arm around your shoulder, pulling his lip between his teeth and staring up at the tree with a familiar calculating look in his brown eyes, “so, darling, we got the tree, we put it up, and now all we have to do is decorate it,” his eyes skim the length of the tree, lingering on the top, “that seems easy enough.”
You scoff but smile anyway, shaking your head at the brunette. There is no way that decorating this monster is going to be easy. Even Kol in all of his six foot glory is no match for it. The bottom half will be easy, that part isn’t the problem. Your eyes follow Kol’s and land on the top, right where the star has to go. It’s the top that’s going to take some skillful maneuvering.
“We need a plan,” you tap your foot, tilting your head as you try to think, “a way to get to the top.”
You look at the assortment in front of you. Tinsel, lights, ornaments, candy canes. The whole works, still neatly organized from last year. Obviously you have to start with the lights, there’s no way you would be able to string them up after the decorations are on. You grab a strand, hoping that by touching the bulbs you’ll be able to think of a suitable plan for execution. You need to get this tree decorated pronto.
“You could sit on my shoulders?” Kol suggests as he mindlessly sorts through a bucket of old ornaments, pulling a few special ones out and putting them to the side.
That’s not a bad idea actually. You could hang the higher ornaments and the tinsel that way. But that still leaves the matter of the lights and the star. Even on his shoulders you wouldn’t be tall enough to reach the very top. You scrunch your nose as your mull over all the options. You need another way to the top and you have an idea, one that’s just crazy enough to work.
“I don’t think we can reach the top like that,” you turn to Kol, a grin on your lips and a glint in your eyes, “I think I have to climb it. You know, to put the star on top.”
Kol’s eyes widen, his own grin growing magnanimously, “you’re a genius, darling! Why didn’t I think of that? I’ll hold the base steady while you climb.”
You nod at him, pulling off your hoodie and examining the tree for the best possible foothold. There’s one about three feet off the ground that looks sturdy enough. It could be better but it’s what you have to work with. You grab the star from Kol, tucking it under your arm and making your way to the branch. Here goes nothing.
You grab a branch above your head, “toss me the lights when I get up there, alright? We can string them easier-”
You feel a gust of wind behind you, swirling leather with the heady evergreen scent surrounding you. Before you have time to realize what’s happening a pair of bare arms wrap around you and whisk you across the courtyard, setting you on top of the bar. You set the star beside you, scrunching your eyebrows at the dripping wet man in front of you.
“Eli,” you huff at the vampire with his mouth hanging open, “just what do you think you’re doing?”
Elijah is almost naked, spare the towel hanging precariously from his hips, and he still has soap suds in his hair. Beads of water roll down his chest and drop onto the stone at his feet, a small puddle slowly forming beneath him. You tilt your head at him, reaching out to catch a drop of water rolling down his chin. Did he seriously just leave the shower to run down here?
“Baby,” his voice is a tad frantic as he grabs your jaw, forcing your eyes to meet his panicked ones, “you cannot, under any circumstance, climb the tree! No matter how badly you want to!” his eyes search yours, looking for any inkling of understanding, “Please just use a ladder.”
He shivers as some cold air from the street trickles in through the gate. You pout at Elijah, batting your eyelashes at him. You love him but you’re running out of time to decorate the tree. Tonight is the annual Mikaelson Family Christmas Party and you’re the newest Mikaelson so it has to be perfect! You pull your lip between your teeth and he tightens his grip.
“But Eli,” you whine, your hands finding his face and your thumbs rubbing over his cheeks, “this is faster. The party is at seven and it’s already three!”
Up close he smells even nicer, like the Christmas tree but better, and you try not to let it sway your resolve. He squints his eyes at you, his mouth falling open again for a moment. You hear Kol chuckle from the tree and your face heats.
Elijah raises a brow, leaning down to press his lips against your forehead, “you can’t go to the party if you’re dead, love.”
You grumble at him, your cheeks flaming hotter. What you want to say to him is that he’s dead. That almost everyone attending will be dead. But you don’t want to argue, that will only take more time and time is very quickly becoming an extinct resource. He’s probably right anyway. You settle on nodding your head reluctantly, muttering a quick fine, Eli.
His tense shoulders sag, his lips meeting yours in a quick kiss, some water from his hair hitting your face, “Thank you, baby. I’ll find you the ladder.”
You kiss him back before jumping off the counter and meeting Kol once more in front of the tree. He pulls you back against his sap covered chest, his eyes glued to the lights he’s been toying with in your absence. You lean against him as you wait for Elijah to come back, closing your eyes for a moment. What Kol says next puts a smile on your face.
“We have a ladder?”

For klarosummer bingo, this completes my first row! The prompt was “swimsuit model.”
Fortune Favors
“Bekah, these are amazing,” Caroline gushes. She 100% means it, but she’s laying it on a little thick. She’s seen pictures, mock-ups, and was fitted with prototypes. Now, with the line entirely constructed, all the details finished, Caroline’s impressed.
Rebekah, however, seems frazzled, her usual rock-solid confidence nowhere to be found.
Totally understandable. It’s a big day for her.
Rebekah’s working on launching a swimwear line, is funding a big chunk of it herself. Caroline would have agreed to help out even if she didn’t owe Rebekah a favor. Caroline continues flipping through the garments until she finds the tag with her name on it.
She pulls the first hanger off the rack to look at the suit more closely. It’s a white one-piece with a deep-v neck, a belt slim black belt, and ruffled straps. Rebekah fidgets, “We’re styling this one with red lips and heels, a big hat. We’re going to try to shoot this one on the rocks.”
“Sounds good to me.” The shoot seems far more professional from the ones they’d managed to pull together for school projects. They’d done the best they could with the facilities available to students, but the house they’re using today is by far the nicest one Caroline’s ever been inside of. It backs onto a private beach which seems unnecessary considering the freaking gorgeous pool in the backyard. “Who’s the photographer?”
Rebekah grins, clearly pleased with herself. “I managed to convince my brother to donate his services.”
Well. Now Caroline’s nervous. “Your brother Klaus?” she asks, kind of hoping she’s wrong. Klaus Mikaelson is a big deal. He’s shot major covers, A-list celebrities, million-dollar international campaigns.
He’s used to models who know what they’re doing, and Caroline’s definitely an amateur.
“Yes, Klaus. I’ve forbidden Kol from coming within a five-mile radius. Can’t have him harassing the models. And Elijah’s been a gem, but his expertise lies more in negotiating with suppliers and nagging me to mind the expenses.”
Caroline takes a deep breath, tells herself it’ll be fine.
She studies her next look, a sleek black bikini and a sheer black robe covered in floral details. “Love the appliqués. Did you bead this yourself?”
“Till my fingers were bloody. But I think it’ll photograph well.”
Caroline hums in agreement. “Is this one on the beach too?”
“No, by the pool. Chaise lounge, martini glass, one of the male models in the background. Think rich divorcee seducing the help.”
Caroline hopes it’s a real martini. She might need it.
She flips to the next hanger and has to bite back a distressed groan. Rebekah’s concept leans retro, so the yellow polka dot bikini in her hand is skimpier than Caroline had anticipated.
“Probably should have skipped breakfast,” she mutters.
Rebekah scoffs, “None of that. You’ll look smashing in it. I have impeccable taste.”
Caroline’s distracted by male laughter, a new person slipping into the tent. “So you’ve insisted your whole life. I distinctly recall you sneaking into the family albums and burning most of the photographic evidence of the unfortunate style choices you made in years 7 through 9.”
Ordinarily, Caroline would exploit the opportunity to get a little dirt on Rebekah, but she’s annoyingly tongue-tied and intimidated. She’s pasted on a polite smile, more out of habit than anything.
She may have google stalked Rebekah once upon a time, way back when they’d been rivals at school. And if during Caroline’s research, she’d read several articles and poured over dozens of pictures of Rebekah’s very talented and successful fashion photographer brother, that was her business.
Know thy enemy and all that, she couldn’t have known that rivalry would shift to friendly competition, then to actual friendship.
She’d noted he was attractive, of course, as anyone with eyes and sense would have. Most people don’t manage to live up to photos taken by professionals.
Klaus Mikaelson does, and it’s not helping her insecurities.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Nik.”
He walks further in, offering Caroline his hand. “You must be Caroline. It’s lovely to meet you. I’m Klaus Mikaelson.
She swallows, is relieved when her voice sounds normal. “You too. I’m excited for today. I love your work.”
He nods, appearing pleased. “It’s been ages since I’ve done this kind of shoot, but you must know how Rebekah can be. Wouldn’t stop haranguing me until I agreed.”
Rebekah glares, piqued, and Caroline presses her lips together to hold in a laugh that threatens, knowing it would not be appreciated. “I can’t blame her for doing what needed to be done to ensure the desired outcome. It’s only good business.”
Rebekah nods firmly, “Exactly. Thank you, Caroline. At least someone here appreciates me.” She picks up the last hanger that had been in Caroline’s section and hands it over. “This one’s first since the set-up is the simplest. Bonnie should arrive while you’re shooting. We’ll do her first look while you go back into beauty, then rotate throughout the day. Put this on. I’ll send hair in first.”
She knocks into Klaus’ shoulder when she leaves, hard enough to have him swaying. “That’s why you’re not allowed in my house!” he calls to her retreating form. “Just had the floor redone,” he tells Caroline. “Can’t have her stomping all over them if she has a tantrum.”
“She’s stressed. You might want to be nicer.” Caroline regrets the words immediately, glances away under the pretense of studying the bikini in her hand. He’s donating his time and apparently his house. Their family squabbles really aren’t her business.
But Klaus isn’t offended, “Perhaps you have a point, though Rebekah’s never more productive than she is when she’s angry. Failure’s not an option when she’s fueled by spite.”
Hmm. Caroline has similar ideals. Maybe that’s why she and Rebekah came to understand each other.
She realizes she’s been twisting the bikini top’s strap, hurriedly straightens it out. “I feel like I should warn you, my modeling experience is limited to pitching in with other student’s shoots at school. So, I’m far from a professional.”
He shrugs. “You have nothing to be worried about.”
That startles a laugh from her. “You only say that because you don’t know me. I am a world-class worrier.”
He takes the suit away from her, setting it aside. His knees bend, until their eyes are level. “Caroline. You’re beautiful. Rebekah’s created lovely things. I’m very good at my job. I have every confidence the final product will be spectacular, and I’ll be able to enjoy reminding Rebekah that she owes me a favor down the line.”
Caroline blinks at him in surprise, some of her nerves having drifted away when faced with his absolute and unwavering confidence. “That’s… actually very reassuring.”
“Was it? I confess that’s not a strength of mine.”
She’s not sure if he’s joking or not, but she picks up her first outfit again. It’s another bikini, a tropical print on a pink background with a halter top and a high waisted bottom. “I should change,” she says. “Something tells me Rebekah won’t appreciate it if we fall behind schedule.”
Klaus nods, rocking back a step. “Of course. I just wanted to introduce myself. Please feel free to let me know if you need or want anything at all.”
She thanks him again, and he lets himself out of the tent.
Caroline takes one more deep breath and then ducks behind the screen in the corner and strips out of her sundress.
Once she’s dressed in Rebekah’s design, she begins to feel like everything might just go okay. The suit fits like a dream, propping up her breasts and perfectly hugging the curve of her hips. By the time hair and makeup work their magic, leaving her curls full and her lips slicked bubblegum pink, she feels freaking fantastic.
When she steps out onto the set, Klaus’ eyes widen when he spots her, lingering in a way that’s slightly unprofessional but not at all unwelcome.
He walks over, paying not the slightest bit of attention to anyone on the crew, even when an assistant tries to wave him over. Klaus offers his arm to help steady her as she steps into the matching pink pumps, leans in close, and tells her she looks incredible, his lips brushing her ear and sending a pleasant shiver down her spine.
She might be in trouble.
Will Rebekah kill Caroline if she flirts with Klaus? Probably.
Caroline thinks she’s willing to risk it.

Halloween Prompt list
Why you had been brought along to deal with Kol hadn't been apparent until, you’d been snatched from your spot close to Elijah, and dangled out to him by Klaus like a bribe.
Kol had lost control, more than a little. The autumn festivities seemed to have made him more careless. He drank more, chaotically enough that Marcel complained to Elijah. The witches complained too. When Hayley had been stopped in the street by a wolf and shouted at her about Kol she demanded that Klaus and Elijah do something.
“Why should I do what you say? Just because you can not enjoy yourself doesn’t mean I don’t get to do it.” Kol shouted at Klaus who rolled his eyes. Setting you down between them.
“Brother you need to calm yourself.” Elijah chidded. You couldn’t help think back to how Kol had been when he’d been brought back to life. He was very nice, sweet and kind. You liked him then, whatever had happened between then and now seemed to have changed him completely.
“Can someone kill him again, please?” You whispered to yourself. Looking up you realised Elijah was shaking his head. Klaus was giving you an amused look of approval and Kol just looked plain offended. “Oh! I didn’t mean… well… we’d bring you back again… it’d just be to make you nicer.” You tried to explain, just as quiet as you muttered out your words.

The Young Owl, Episode 2, Part 10
The Young Owl trudged up the dirt ramp alone, leaving Sparrow in the laboratory behind her. She paused when she reached the entrance to the access tunnel back in Kol Mum Cave. It dawned on her that leaving Sparrow alone down there meant Sparrow might begin destroying the laboratory in a fit of spite and vexation.
Standing there at the entrance, the Owl waited to detect any indication of such a scenario. The sounds of yelling, the scent of smoke, the glow of fire. It did not come.
Instead, the Owl heard the sounds of footsteps approaching—from outside the cave.
Her hand found the hilt of her sword and gripped it tight. She stared at the mouth of the cave, frozen. There was no time to hide, no chance to run, and only one way out of the cave. Dropping herself into a relaxed fighting stance, she took a single deep breath.
A figure calmly walked into view. It was tall, draped in leather clothing. A cape descended from its shoulders down to its hips, and tall dark boots rose up from the ground, buckled tightly to the legs. The arms were hung casually at the large, pouch-ridden belt across the waist, and a pair of gloves extended from the fingers all the way to the middle of the biceps, where they were buckled tight to the overshirt beneath.
Framed graciously by a hood, where the face should be, was a pale white mask with a long, spindly beak. The lenses were sunken into the mask’s facade, and the whole array gave the mask an expression of sick amusement.
Dangling at the Sodalist’s hip, however, was a thick tome. An Owl’s codex.
The two Sodalists stared at one another. Both held the hilts of their weapon in their hands, but did not draw. Ignorantly, birds chirped their songs beyond the cave.
“I shall presume,” the heretic said, his voice low and gnarled, “that my workshop is compromised.”
“Shall I presume I am addressing a heretic of our Sodality?” the Young Owl retorted. “Owl’s Codex, unethical experiments, wandering the wilds for your victims… you’re an Osprey, aren’t you?”
“Presume as you please, youth,” the Osprey dismissed. “The integrity of my work here is breached. I shall find some other place.”
“You are a heretic and a danger,” the Young Owl charged. “I’m not going to let you move on and spread infection.”
The Osprey scoffed.
“I can see that vial on your hip, girl,” he spat.
She froze. Of course he could see it. He was a Sodalist.
“Are you a heretic, as well?” He questioned. “I’m not familiar with that miasma. Did you make it yourself? I can help you find test subjects for it…”
The Young Owl drew her sword. The Osprey heretic only laughed.
“Challenge me, and I’ll make it a point to shatter that vial of yours. I know just how to open them. I can tell that miasma is hungry… it’d spread quite fast.”
The Young Owl held her sword at him. He only shrugged.
“Kill me if you think you can,” he told her, turning around. “Or hunt me down for some future day. I don’t care. All that matters to me is the work.”
“You’re an insult to the work,” the Owl snarled, watching him go. “If not for this vial…”
“Stones in glass houses, little owlet,” the Osprey chuckled, disappearing from view. “Stones in glass houses.”
As the Osprey departed, the Owl stood there, shaking as she held her sword out still. She felt the vial at her hip slide ever so slightly. She thought of the parasites infecting the young villagers, of the heretic who placed them there.
How did he find this place? What was he trying to accomplish? Where was he going? How long had he engaged in heresy?
Would he really have unleashed a miasma? Would that have been her fault?
It took all her will not to throw her sword at the cave wall in frustration. Instead, she slowly sheathed it. Her stance straightened, but did not relax. Carefully, she weighed her options. After a moment, however, she could hear footfall approaching from within the tunnels. Sparrow turned the corner and saw her standing there, still looking out at the cave mouth.
“Still here?” Sparrow asked, surprised. “I was sure you’d be halfway back to the village by now to give your treatment and collect your coin.”
The Owl did not answer her. The consequences of the moment sat on her too heavily to answer without thought.
“What?” Sparrow asked. “Too mad at me to speak?”
“I have been… thinking,” the Owl said slowly.
“That’s what you Owls do, I hear,” Sparrow quipped. “Not too much about other people, though.”
“The torches down there were… cold,” Owl said. “Cold, and well-used.”
“And?”
“And of all the tomes down there,” the Owl went on, “there were none that appeared to be notes of any sort.”
“What are you getting at, bird?” Sparrow crossed her arms.
“I do not believe this facility is in active use any longer,” the Owl declared. “Whoever was using it for whatever purpose, I believe they have moved on.”
“What makes you so sure?” Sparrow asked. “They had all their tools down there still.”
“As you pointed out, they could acquire more equipment,” the Owl argued. “It’s probable that this is only one of several outposts being used for… whatever this is. And that this one was recently retired.”
“Why?” Sparrow asked. “Show up, put bugs in some ears, and leave? What’s that gain?”
The Owl sighed, trying to find yet another lie. Or a useful truth.
“There are… certain heresies in the Sodality,” the Owl went on. “They cling to our ways of science, but in… perverse forms. It’s possible that this culprit is one such heretic. We call them Ospreys. Their experiments are unethical, unhinged, chaotic. They travel around, conducting their heinous research, trying to piece together some inhuman greater truth from it all.”
“So… they’re crazy?” Sparrow asked. “Going around killing and maiming folk to, what, write a book about how best to do it?”
“In so many words,” the Owl nodded. “Yes. I think this Osprey has taken wing now that Falk and Feli have progressed far enough for their interests to be sated.”
Sparrow considered this.
“Why do you think it’s a bad bird now?” Sparrow asked. The Owl finally looked at her.
“Because I trust your instincts,” she lied. “And I was wrong to doubt them.”
That much was true, at least.
Sparrow nodded at this, before looking back at the tunnel and then at the Owl again.
“So what about this evil little den?” Sparrow asked.
“The Sodality should know about it… and with the Osprey gone to wing, it’s not dangerous anymore…” Owl muttered.
“We should tell the village, all the same,” Sparrow pleaded. “Come on, birdie. You know it’s the right thing to do. We can explain it was a bad bird and that we chased it off. You’ll be a hero to them!”
The Owl scoffed.
“Sodalists aren’t heroes,” she said bitterly. “Tell them I helped you chase the heretic away, and that you’re coming with me to bring him to justice.”
“I suppose that’s a fair enough story,” Sparrow nodded. “I don’t like lying, you know, but I know you’ve got your guild’s reputation to protect, and how hard things are as is for birds. We can paint a nicer picture about how things went down here.”
“Right…” the Owl sighed, tired already of painting nice pictures. “Let’s get back to the village. Falk and Feli need their treatment, and we need our payment and to get back on the road.”
“So…” Sparrow called out as Owl began to go, “it’s an us again? We’re still traveling together?”
The Owl shrugged. “You have no reason to remain here now that we’ve determined the Osprey has gone. And I’m happy to advise you in how to hunt him down. When we get to Saras I can report the heretic’s presence to the Sodality and begin coordinating a larger search for him.”
Sparrow nodded with a smile. “Well… that sounds all sunny and right to me.”
The Owl nodded, and the two departed. The Owl did not speak as they trekked through the forest again. She was happy to let Sparrow lead the way and focus on trailblazing. There was much to think about, and little to be said.

Fandom: The Vampire Diaries Pairing: Kol Mikaelson x Male!Reader Summary: Kol has a reputation to uphold, you’re just there to feed his ego Word Count: 1,061 Request: @marc-isthename “Cliché trope InCoMiNg: highschool sweetheart x badboi™ which is basically Bughead 😛 But with, if possible, Kol,” A/n: Why do Bad boys always have angsty backgrounds, is there a bad boy because he just wants to be?
No one knows how you’ve fallen in love with the school’s bad boy.
God knows how Kol managed to be blessed to be with you.
Because Kol is hopeless, you are out of his league as Rebekah puts it. You’re too good for him, he thinks, he doesn’t deserve you but you say otherwise.
But somehow, you both work out really good. It’s like grease, you were the sweetheart that everyone loved, no faults about you. You got top grades in most, if not all, your subjects. You were kind and sweet - some could mistake you for being so innocent. But then comes in Kol - the bad boy of the school.
Kol never expected to find himself in High School, that was his sister’s cover-up and to get in with the local gossip. Kol could find entertainment however upon arrival, he was smitten with you.
He almost begged Elijah and Rebekah to introduced himself to you because that’s how he only noticed you. It was your joyful laughter that allured him to you, standing there at the grill laughing at Rebekah’s whining about Klaus as Elijah stood there rolling his eyes.
Kol had never felt so nervous around a person, butterflies in his stomach that are out of control that he felt like throwing up. So, Rebekah dragged him into high school and pushed him into you, knocking you over. So, with cheeks so red he offered to carry your books and bag.
Still, he was only cutesy with you and everyone else found him intimidating. He drives a motorcycle just to spite you and his sister, he doesn’t go to any of his lessons unless you’re in his class so he can distract you. He never participates in gym class because “who actually wants to be alethetic, (Y/n)?” as Kol puts it.
“Just because you’re a vampire and actually don’t need sports to keep active you can’t judge other people who are fanatic about sports.”
“It’s just stupid,” Kol complains, rolling his eyes, “Come on, skip gym with me!”
“In your dreams, boo,” You hummed, kissing his lips before pushing yourself to enter the changing room.
“You know, I still don’t know what you see in him,” Matt greets you, leaning against the locker, looking confused.
“Kol?” You questioned, as he nodded but you shrugged, “Dunno, he’s just... sweet.”
“Sweet?” Matt scoffs, shaking his head, “Dude, Kol is terrifying, have seen that guy? He glares at everyone and everything, how are you dating that guy?”
“Aren’t you dating his sister?” You asked, pulling your gym top on, “Same difference.”
Matt huffs, agreeing with your statement as you two leave the changing room into the gym hall. Sure, you understand why your friends always second doubt your relationship with the Mikaelson.
He’s a psychopath, the needy middle child who is reckless and impulsive. He always needs to get his way, as Klaus bitterly says. Your friends remind you that he’s a vampire, he’s vain and he’s a killer - he has no morals, for all you know he could be using you to get to Elena for Klaus.
Yet, despite their complaints, you don’t see that. In fact, what you see is a man who has been pushed away continuously by his siblings. You see a man who’s so out of life, confused, and unloved. Yes, he was needy, but could you blame him? All he wants was your attention, your love.
So, he comes off cold, bad, unwanted to fend himself - to ward off people who could hurt him further. To him, you were a lifesaver, you were a grace sent by god, you were everything to him.
“You’ve softened Kol, (Y/n),” Klaus announces as he sees you strolling into their kitchen to raid, “He’s not Kol.”
“And is that a bad thing?” You asked, challenging and tinted with a know it all tone.
“Not necessarily,” Rebekah comments as you rip open some large crisp packet, “It’s sweet, I’d say, he’s nicer.”
“You know, if you were just as nice to him he would be nicer back,” You informed them, knitting your eyebrows together before relaxing, “It’s not rocket science, you want respect you give respect back - you have to give to get, you know?”
You stroll back out to Kol’s room, exclaiming you could beat him in another round of some shooter game. Leaving Rebekah and Klaus dumbfounded in the kitchen.
“He’s right,” Elijah calls out to his siblings, “We don’t give Kol much credit than we think we do.”
“But-”
“Kol is smarter than what he leads on, maybe we should try listening to him.”
“I don’t understand why you even go to school,” You say, as Kol leans on the motorcycle whilst you adjust your backpack.
“Well, I’ve been affectionately named as Mystic High Bad boy, I can’t just let that go...” Kol says, grinning at you, “Plus, it annoys Beks beyond belief that I get more attention that she does.”
“Why? She’s the queen bee, she’s taken Caroline’s title,” You say, eyebrows furrowed, “And you’re doing this to keep up a reputation or feeding your ego?”
“Please,” Kol scoffs but pulls you into an embrace and kissing your hair, “A title is not feeding my ego, having the hottest boyfriend is.”
You chuckled into his chest, knowing that heat was slowly rising from your neck to your cheek, you wrapped your arms around his waist.
“You’re a dork,” You mumbled.
“You’re a real sweetheart,” Kol compliments you, “But, you can’t call me a dork when I have a reputation to hold!”
You push him off you, rolling your eyes and scoffing but a big grin on your face. You two looked at each before laughing, though it was cut off when the bell rang.
“Let me guess? You’re going to skip class?”
“No,” Kol says, wiggling his eyebrow suggestively, throwing his arm over your shoulders and glaring off anyone who dares to look at you, “You say Klaus’ hybrid’s giving you shit? I have the first period with him.”
“Don’t-”
“Don’t worry, love, you’ll get an apology at the end of the day from him,” Kol says, walking you to class, not caring that he’ll turn up to his late as he could hear some girls gushing over him, enlarging his stupid menacing grin on his face.
“Don’t murder him.”
“No promises.”

Chapter Summary: Mikael has Maleny and is hell-bent on making Klaus finally pay for everything done in the past. Still, despite her situation, Maleny finally comes to terms with her feelings.
Klaus angrily paced back and forth outside Davina's cabin as he left a voicemail to Elijah, "Elijah, where are you? Mikael is loose with the stake, and Maleny is a hostage, and I am weaponless and in need of reinforcement. Urgently!"
He hung up and returned to the cabin where Kol was calmly rocking back and forth in a rocking chair, Davina still unconscious, "Wake her up," Klaus ordered him, "Tell her to get Mikael back here, now."
"Well, let me- let me think about that," Kol tilted his head in pretend thought, "No! I've got nothing against Maleny, honestly - she was my little mischievous companion after all."
"Okay, now is our time, Maleny," Kol declared to the older blonde beside him.
The two were standing side by side a short distance from a table full of various snacks the villagers had put out for their evening celebration. No one was supposed to have any until the celebration properly started.
Just as Kol started for the table, Maleny anxiously grabbed his arm, pulling him back, "You know we're not supposed to touch anything," she reminded him, "There are rules-"
"Oh c'mon, Maleny," Kol turned to her, pleading with her, "We went over this - remember the plan?"
"Ummm..." Maleny looked to the side, feeling guilty for having even thought about going with his plan.
"Mal?" Kol asked again, giving her a pout, "I said we would share and you know I don't disappoint my adoptive sister, so..."
At that Maleny, arched an eyebrow, "You make Rebekah suffer some times."
"Yeah, but half the time she deserves it," Kol shrugged then smiled at her, "But you're not like her. You're nicer, you're definitely a lot more fun than she is. You're like the sister I always wanted."
"Oh, don't be rude," Maleny playfully hit his arm, "And fine...but I want some berries," she pointed to the bowl of her favorite fruit.
"Got it," Kol beamed, sloppily kissing her cheek before heading out to do their plan.
Maleny chuckled to herself, heading to do her task of distraction in the meantime. She was to distract the one preparing the tables, Miss Heartfield - a terrible, strict old woman. If Maleny was honest, she was terrified by the woman but Kol promised her it wouldn't take more than two minutes max for him to snatch up what they wanted.
Kol kept to his word - in two minutes flat he was motioning to Maleny it was time to go. Giggling like a child would, the blonde scurried after him.
"I told you it would be easy," Kol said as they sat down on the ground, their backs against a home wall, both of them munching on their respective snacks.
"I am never doing that again," Maleny warned him as she dropped a couple of berries into her mouth, but both knew that was false.
She had said the same thing mere days ago.
Kol smiled to himself after reliving his memory. He then looked back at Klaus who remained furious than ever by the entrance of the cabin, "Self preservation, you see," he continued his excuse, "I stay in here, Mikael can't get to me. Well, go on then."
Klaus actually felt like killing Kol on the spot for his dismissal at the problem. But he saw there was no use in wasting time with Kol, "We're not done here!" he warned and then sped out to find Maleny.

Somewhere deep in the woods by the bayou, Mikael dragged along Maleny in a tight hold.
"You know, I remember you being awful and unnecessarily cruel but this is beyond ridiculous!" the blonde angrily shouted, almost able to hide her fear that coursed through her blood.
"And I seem to remember you weren't a big mouth back then," Mikael replied in a snarky tone, "I assume Niklaus taught you that."
"Who, by the way, is already looking for you," Maleny glared at him, "And we all know what happens when Klaus Mikaelson loses his temper."
Mikael sneered as he came to a stop, "Oh, you are an amusing girl - always have been. But let me tell you, amuseming and entertaining will have you killed eventually," he pointed Papa Tunde's blade at her, "And because you are oh-so-close to Niklaus, your end will be even sooner."
Maleny raised an eyebrow, "And you believe somehow this will make me go against him? If you believed you could do that you wouldn't have taken me as leverage. Because that's why you took me, isn't it?"
Though Mikael was irritated the plan was so easily visible, he stated, "Once I threaten to dismember you in front of him, Klaus will hesitate. And, in that moment of weakness, I shall end him."
"This is so wrong!" Maleny erupted into angry shouts, shaking off Mikael's arm in the process. He knew she couldn't out run him anyways so he let her be, "You have never seen Klaus as your son and when there was finally real proof that he actually wasn't, you went hysterical. You've literally been obsessing over the death of someone whose fatal flaw is that he was fathered by another guy! If there's anyone you should be going after it's Esther - she's the one who betrayed you."
"Hush! You are the enabler of the weak!" Mikael pointed, "No wonder he always sought your company."
"Cos I understood him, clearly," Maleny argued, but her mind wronged her by reminding her of a period where that wasn't true.
Maleny was quietly tending to pile of cloths inside her home when she happened to look up and see Klaus passing by. Immediately, she dropped her things and called for him, "Klaus!" she ran for her open door.
"Stay there!" the newly made vampire (or hybrid) ordered her just as she came to the door.
Startled, Maleny froze in her spot, "I...I know what happened out there," she nodded for the forest, "Rebekah, she...told me."
"Then you know what I have become," Klaus opened his arms and walked towards her, unable to really look her in the eyes, "A beast..."
Maleny's eyes lowered in clear sympathy for him, "I'm sorry...I..."
She'd heard from Esther about the savagery state Klaus had entered early at dawn, unable to control himself (as well as the others) after trying to decently feed off people in the forest. They would have died if they hadn't been stopped by Mikael and Finn. She'd wanted to go find him immediately but Esther had stopped her, warning Maleny of the danger she would be placing herself in.
"You are going to stay in there, Maleny," Klaus pointed towards Maleny's home, making the blonde take a quick glance back, "and you are not going to look for me-"
Maleny blinked in confusion, "What? But I-" and when she tried taking a step out of her house Klaus shouted.
"Stay in there!"
The blonde flinched under the harsh tone. Her blue eyes had widened, not in horror but of pain. She was quite used to her father using the same tone to talk to her, but never from Klaus.
"Maleny, I am...something bad," Klaus said, putting in simpler terms, "I have to feed off people to survive and it is a difficult struggle to have control."
"That's not your fault," Maleny whispered, her hand reaching out to his only to have him step back, "Klaus, why are you doing this?" her eyes began rapidly blinking as they watered, "I know what you are. I am not afraid."
"But I am," Klaus confessed under a shaky tone, "You do not understand Maleny. I can hear your heart pumping blood, blood I now crave, blood that warms your pink cheeks. And the last thing I want is for you to become my next prey."
Maleny's tears had begun running down her face, "I know you won't hurt me…"
"Give me time, Maleny. Pain is the last thing I want to cause you."
"Then stop this madness right now," Maleny weakly ordered, stepping out of her home's boundary. She purposely inched closer to him, running her fingers up his arm, "Let me be there for you. I can...I can help you..." she offered, though no specific ideas came to mind at the moment.
Klaus nearly fell under her charms as she brushed her lips against his. But her delicious, human scent became more prominent in the air, and her heartbeat rang in his ears. He pushed her away, making her stumble back into her home, " Stay away from me, Maleny," he whispered, doing a surprisingly good job of hiding his tears, "Stay indoors, where I cannot reach you - nor my siblings," with his final warning he turned away and walked off.
Maleny shut her eyes as she remembered the awful period she'd spent lonesomely whilst Klaus kept away from her. She didn't realize Mikael had taken an interest in distant music that had carried over through their silence.
"I hear music," he declared, glancing back at her, "And, where there's music, there's food."
"Oh," Maleny crinkled her nose, "leave them alone."
"Would you rather it be you I feed off, then?" Mikael challenged, coming back to her.
"Frankly, yes," Maleny nodded, making him laugh.
"How heroic of you," he snagged Maleny by the arm, dragging her towards his next meal's location, "Where'd you learn that one? Because it certainly wasn't from that hybrid."
"This may come as a shocker to you, Mikael, but I do have qualities that are all mine," Maleny rolled her eyes.
But Mikael sneered in return, dismissing her statement, "Oh please, ever since I could remember you were after my family like a lost-"
"I had lost my mother, you ignorant fool!" Maleny snapped, and soon saw the error she made when Mikael abruptly stopped and faced her with rage. Knowing he would break her if he overdid it, he settled for a hard strike across the face. Maleny fell to the ground, drowning her painful screeches as best she could. She looked up, mustering up her courage, "My life was hell after my mother died. My father was cruel and did nothing but hit me and treat me like a servant. I wasn't 'after your family' - I loved them like they were my own."
"Oh how truly sappy," Mikael rolled his eyes and turned away from her, trying to once again locate the distant music.
"Don't be snappish because you weren't able to learn what love was," Maleny said, earning herself a threatening glare back.
"And you think you know what that is?" he challenged, quickly getting the answer.
"Yes, I do-"
"Oh, really?"
"-I know what it is," Maleny spoke over him, "I do. I felt it before I even knew what it was."
Mikael stalked back to her, leaning down as she was still on the ground, "You think what you felt for Niklaus was..." he sardonically laughed, "...love?"
Maleny looked to the side, "Yes...there was no other word for it. Finn, Elijah, and Kol, I loved them to bits and pieces but...as brothers. They were my brothers. But Klaus, I..." she sighed, "...he made the simplest of things such puzzles..."
"Maleny," Rebekah came up to the blonde girl that was just coming out from the forest with a basket of damp clothes on her side, "Oh, thank God I found you. I need your help!"
Maleny didn't even get a word in before Rebekah dragged her by the arm towards a wooden table full of materials needed for basket making, "Let me guess," Maleny began when Rebekah cut her off frantically.
"I completely forgot I had to do this and now my mother is going to come back and shout at me or worse - she's going to-"
"Rebekah," Maleny rose her voice, completely amused by her. Rebekah blinked rapidly, trying to calm, while Maleny put down her basket on the edge of the table, "I can help you. I just finished washing clothes so I have time."
"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!" Rebekah beamed and got straight to work with the blonde beside her.
"Now dear Maleny," they heard Elijah's voice, "don't tell me you're honestly falling for our sister's clever lies."
Maleny looked up, as did Rebekah, and saw Elijah and Klaus coming towards them. Immediately her hands fumbled with the bits she held between her fingers.
"I am not lying," Rebekah huffed, indignant of her brother's accusation.
"Just last week you asked poor Maleny to help you in..." Klaus stopped a moment to remember the task but frowned and looked at Maleny, "...what was it again, Mal?"
"U-uh...fruit collecting," Maleny answered almost instantaneously.
"Right, and then two days ago she asked you to...?"
"Help her wash clothes."
Rebekah looked between her brother and Maleny, at first annoyed Maleny was just giving into the accusations but then she saw Maleny's face and, well...she sighed in defeat. Anything Klaus wanted to know from her she would automatically spill. However, she failed to see Klaus' face whenever Maleny spoke.
Elijah did not. He was outright bemused by the sudden silence that fell between the four. Maleny had returned to her basket making, though her fingers seemed to have lost their talent like if she had never even learned. Meanwhile, Klaus took to staring at her like she was doing the most interesting craft in the world.
But Maleny's yelp cut through the awkward air. She had accidentally poked herself and drew blood from her index finger. "Maybe I won't help," she said afterwards, wincing as she touched her finger, "Ow..."
"Here," Klaus gently took her hand into his, startling Maleny. She blushed madly, rapidly blinking. She felt her heart beating so violently she actually thought for a minute it would simply burst. It was an annoyance sometimes, honestly, to constantly be nervous around someone to the point where it became true fear they might muck it up some way. But she never wished for it to stop.
Maleny smiled to herself, forgetting the monstrous man she had inches from her, "Even to making a bloody basket was difficult for me..." she actually forgot the feelings Klaus provoked - and probably without even knowing it.
Mikael had heard enough and yanked the woman to her feet, gripping both her wrists, "You were doomed from the start, then," he declared and dragged her for the nearby human camp settlement, ignoring her struggles.

"Hayley!" Cami came frantically through the courtyard of the compound, "Hayley!"
"What!?" Hayley came out from one of the rooms upstairs, "I know you're kinda new at this but you realize I have super hearing, right?"
Cami ignored the sarcasm with a shake of her head, "Has Elijah came back yet!?"
The name of the Original put Hayley on edge, "...no."
Cami deeply sighed and ran a hand through her hair, "He's gonna MIA and that's not like him. I told you, he should've came in last night."
Hayley shifted on her feet as she admitted, "I couldn't quite track Oliver either."
That sent Cami a whole new wave of worriment, "If they're both missing then something happened, something Esther did I'm sure."
"We've got to find them," Hayley muttered and hurriedly went for the stairs.
"Please," Cami nearly sounded like she was begging, but she simply couldn't help it.
Even Gia had told her to calm down and just let Elijah call her when he called her. She made Cami rethink all of this 'distancing' idea with how worried she was over the Original. It certainly didn't seem like Cami wanted to stay away.

Mikael dragged Maleny into a run-down warehouse and once they were at the center of the prime room he shoved her to the dirty floor.
"You're a monster!" Maleny pushed her hair out of her face and glared up at the man, "But then that's nothing new. You've always been a monster, a cruel man, and always towards Klaus."
"I didn't always hate him," Mikael interjected, "When Klaus was born, I was overjoyed. I thought, 'This one- this one has the eyes of a warrior. He will be worthy.' But, my hope was short-lived. And, when I found out that he wasn't really my son, my relief was glorious. But, that passed with the knowledge that he was begat of a beast."
"Esther's infidelity was not his fault!" Maleny felt like a broken record as she said those words, "How do I get that through your thick head!?"
"Everything that followed was because of Niklaus' obsession with the wolves! He ventured out to watch them turn under the full moon, and he took my youngest son, Henrik. He was but a child, and he was torn apart."
"But that was an accident!" Maleny got up to her feet.
"An accident?" Mikael nearly lost it then, "AN ACCIDENT? HE MURDERED MY WIFE! HIS OWN MOTHER! Who sought to cleanse him of his beast-like nature! He betrayed me. He turned my entire family against me! And yet, you defend him?"
"You didn't need anyone to make your children turn against you!" Maleny shouted right back but her voice hardly equaled his roar, "You were an awful father right from the start! Everything that happened was because of you - you and Esther."
"And what about you, my dear?" Mikael appeared to be amused by her, "Are you going to forget you participated in the very spell that created vampires?"
A distraught Esther and Mikael were coming out of a friend's (or ex-friend now) house when Maleny approached them, appearing rather nervous.
"I can help," the blonde declared, her fingers playing with each other as a way to relieve her nervousness. Esther looked at the young woman, expecting some explanation, "I know what you're trying to do to Klaus and the others...and I want to help."
"You?" Mikael couldn't help the scoff come from his mouth.
However, Esther seemed less reluctant, "Now wait a minute, I have taught her everything she knows and she is Abigail's daughter, meaning her power is grand."
"I will help as much as I can," Maleny promised.
"Do you even understand what we are trying to do?" Mikael wondered.
"Not completely," Maleny admitted sheepishly, "but I know you are trying to help Klaus and I will do anything to facilitate that."
Esther exchanged a brief glance with Mikael and quickly compiled an easy lie to really get the girl, "We want to strengthen our children, make it so that no one can hurt them."
Maleny seemed pleased with what she heard and smiled, "Then I will most definitely help. All I ask in return is that you allow me to keep seeing your children. I have lost who I loved most when I was a child and I do not wish for that to repeat itself."
Mikael smirked and nodded, "Then it is a deal, child."
"No, I stand by what I did," Maleny straightened up, "Because when I did it I was told it would strengthen them, never to make them into vampires. You and Esther lied, and that is why it's your fault. Do not stand there and blame me, Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah or any of your children for being what they are - for what you and your wife did."
Mikael super sped up to her and grabbed her by the neck, "I used to have appreciation for you," he seemed to be studying her face, "As a child you reminded me of my eldest daughter who died. When you grew up, I thought you would make a fine addition to the family as the wife of one of my sons..."
"I would've happily done that," Maleny coughed as the air struggled to get into her lungs.
"Oh no, no - you speak of Niklaus when I speak of my true sons," Mikael gripped her throat just a little tighter. Maleny's hands flung to his arms, trying to push him off, "Perhaps Finn? Elijah? or Kol? He was nearer to your age..."
"That would've happened over my dead body!" Maleny shouted and kicked his shin. While it did no actual harm, Mikael was forced to let go of her from the sudden spark of pain. Maleny immediately took a deep breath.
"You are a stupid girl," Mikael snatched her by the arm, baring his fangs out for her.
"N-n-n-n-no! Don't-"
But Mikael bit down on her neck and Maleny screamed in utter pain.
~ 0 ~
In the location of Mikael's earlier meal in the woods stood Klaus who finished feeding off the remainders of the living humans. He needed all the bits of strength he could gather if he wanted to save Maleny. His mind was buzzing with all the different strategies that could possibly guarantee Maleny returning home with her life, even if it was just her who was left alive. He hadn't stopped cursing himself for being the complete careless man he kept swearing to Maleny he wouldn't be to keep her safe. Every time he got the smallest distraction (and usually by her ironically) she was hurt.
His phone ringing interrupted his grim thoughts, and when he answered he didn't bother hiding his impatience and rage, "What the hell do you want now, Hayley!? I'm a busy."
"That's rude, even for you," Hayley said back, and Klaus could picture her rolling her eyes, "I take it you've done no progress with Maleny whatso-"
"Don't speak further if you know what's good for you!" Klaus snapped, "Was there a point to this phone call?"
"Something has happened to Elijah. He was supposed to be our decoy last night, and now he's vanished. There's blood everywhere- werewolf and vampire. There's a trail. Cami and I need you to help us track it."
Klaus pinched the bridge of his nose as he mentally added one more problem to his list, "Well, as much as I might like to help you find my brother, I have more pressing matters as the moment."
"What's more important than your own brother?" Hayley indignantly inquired.
"Not 'more important' simply a main priority," Klaus clarified, "Starting with the only one out of all of us that still has a live, beating heart."
"Maleny?" Hayley repeated, confused, "What's happened?"
"Mikael took her," Klaus answered, his rage bubbling in each of the words, "He took her and I'm trying to find her - on my own - before she's truly hurt."
"So you have a plan, then?"
"Not exactly. Mikael now has Tunde's blade and the white oak stake but I'm sure I'll come up with something."
"Klaus, are you out of your mind!?"
"Frankly, yes, but I'm sure that'll go away once I find Maleny...because I will find her," Klaus almost promised at the spot, "And then I'm gonna end this. Either Mikael or I will be ash by day's end."
"I think we would all prefer for the ashes to be Mikael's," Hayley cut in, sounding less irritated than before, "Be careful, and bring back Mal. Cami and I will work to get Elijah back."
"Sounds like a plan," Klaus said, though really the thought of his family hadn't even crossed his mind once since he'd began searching for Maleny. There was no room to think of anything else that didn't involve Maleny.

Cami was inside the bedroom she often used in the compound when she stayed overnight. She held Elijah's gifted journal in her hands, skimming a couple paragraphs across several pages. When she heard footsteps nearing, she looked up and saw Hayley coming in. She closed her journal, awkwardly placing her hands over it like she were protecting it from unwanted eyes.
Hayley saw the action and lightly smiled, "I'm not gonna pick the lock and peek," she playfully warned.
"Sorry," Cami flushed and looked down.
"You know Elijah often looked at that thing while you were gone," Hayley leaned against the dresser, smirking at Cami's horrified face, "I literally mean staring at its covers," Hayley clarified, "As if Elijah would peak into you diary."
"Right..." Cami bit her lip, feeling slightly guilty for thinking Elijah would read her private thoughts when he was the one who gifted her the journal.
"He missed you a lot," Hayley said quietly, "I think he would be happy to see you this concerned over him."
"Just because I left didn't mean I stopped caring for you guys," Cami shrugged.
"Oh c'mon, Cami, if Elijah had done the same thing you did wouldn't you feel a little distraught?"
Cami sighed, rubbing her face in frustration, "God, I messed up. I didn't...I didn't mean to cause all this trouble. I was having problems of my own and I just...I took an abrupt decision, okay? Everyone does it."
"Agreed," Hayley raised her hands to show her neutral side.
"I just...I just want him back here," Cami then said quieter, "Is Klaus on his way?"
"Yeah, about that..." Hayley pushed herself off the dresser and walked about in the room, "...see, there's another problem that he really has to take care of right now."
"What?" Cami frowned. "Is he serious? We need him here to help us find Elijah!"
"Cami," Hayley sharply looked at her, "he's trying to find Maleny."
Cami blinked rapidly for a couple seconds, "C-come again now? Why would he need to find Maleny? I thought he was following her?"
"They found Mikael, apparently, and I guess he broke free from Davina's spell or something because he took Maleny..."
"What!?" Cami jumped from her spot on the bed, letting her journal fall to the floor, "My cousin's missing and you didn't tell me right away!?"
"Sorry," Hayley meekly apologized, "Look, he's going to find Mal and we're going to find Elijah."
"We need to help find Maleny," Cami shook her head, quickly prioritizing in her mind.
"What? But what about Elijah?"
"You said that this place," Cami gestured to the compound, "was home for me too and that everyone here was family. We find the person who needs more help. Elijah's an Original and wherever he is he can't die but Maleny can. He would want us to go find her first."
Hayley could hear Elijah saying something similar, as he once showed it when he chose her before Klaus and Rebekah during Celeste's awful game. It was necessary prioritizing.

It wasn't long before Klaus caught up with Mikael's trail to the abandoned warehouse. He was walking in with no weapons save a makeshift stake from a discarded shovel he found outside. It was nothing compared to what Mikael possessed but it was all there was and he was going to fight no matter what.
He barely contained himself he came into the warehouse and found Mikael holding Maleny at knife-point. He could see Maleny already weakened by the dried up blood on her neck from an earlier feeding - her face of cuts and dirt were the prominent second. Her eyes begged to be helped as the knife poked her flesh.
"You're gonna pay for hurting her," he angrily warned, moving for them but Mikael purposely pricked Maleny's neck to keep him back, "You always talk about what a 'man' should do and yet you use a mortal in your fights?"
Mikael scowled at the accusation, "I don't need a mortal in my battles - I already have two weapons that could easily kill you. She was merely insurance that you followed the trail. However, I did make her a promise that I'd drain the rest of her right in front of your eyes, just before you burn."
"LET HER GO!" roared Klaus, baring his hybrid face. He charged with enough speed to prevent Mikael from threatening Maleny again. He pushed Mikael across the room towards the wall, but from the great blow they broke into the second room.
Maleny fell to the floor and gasped, her hand flying to her blood-covered neck. She winced at the many crashes from the other room and looked around for anything that could help bring down Mikael. She decided nothing could beat the white oak stake but it didn't mean she couldn't use her magic to help Klaus get an advantage over Mikael. Pushing herself up to her feet, she drew a big breath and focused on a spell.
In the next room, Klaus had gotten Mikael down to the floor and was able to retrieve the white oak stake. However, Mikael then flung to Papa Tunde's blade towards Maleny, making Klaus leave speed into the main room to catch the blade before it could hurt Maleny. In doing so, he allowed Mikael to retrieve the white oak stake again from the floor. Mikael wasn't one to waste time so sped up to Klaus and stabbed him in the chest.
To Maleny, it almost felt as if her world has stopped then, "NOO!" she screamed in horror.
Klaus gave his own shriek of pain, his face beginning to desiccate with the stake embedded in his chest. Mikael eagerly awaited for the fire to begin and truly end Klaus but when nothing happened he became furious.
"Why aren't you burning? If you were dead, it would burn. Burn!"
Maleny's breath hitched in her throat when she realized the same thing. There was a spell brewing and it was close by. Whatever it was, it was holding back the stake's power, meaning there was still time to save Klaus. As soon as Mikael left the room to find the mysterious spell's origin, Maleny dashed towards Klaus.
She dropped to her knees and began pulling on the stake, trying to get it out, "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon," she grunted, ignoring her teary eyes as best she could. She didn't know when the spell would stop so she needed to be quick, but her weakness had proven a little stronger, "Isabelle, please help," she whispered and took a deep breath and she reached out to her French coven's help. Once she felt the power source through her veins, she finally pulled the stake from Klaus' chest.
She began smiling when she saw the color return to his face, even though it would take a little longer for him to wake up. What she would give to hear one of his sarcastic remarks, or anything for that matter. Because if he spoke, he would be fine, and then she would be fine too.
"What do you think you're doing?" Mikael's voice startled her into getting up.
She gripped the stake in her hands, holding towards him, "Stay the hell away from us! Or, I swear to God, I'll kill you myself."
Mikael looked mildly impressed, "You have a warrior's heart. Perhaps I'll keep it as a souvenir."
"That's funny - you think I'm alone in this," Maleny smirked with a tilt of her head, "One thing about witches, most of us stand together," she lowered the stake and mustered all her energy to match Isabelle's coven's and with a powerful gust of wind flung Mikael back against a wall, "I am not the naive girl of forest anymore, Mikael. I've learned my share of battle techniques with the centuries!" she made for it to cause an aneurysm, though it was simultaneously draining what little energy she had left.
Thankfully, Hayley appeared, along with Marcel, and started pounding on Mikael. Cami ran straight in for her blonde cousin who wobbled on her feet.
"Now, ENOUGH!" Mikael roared in rage, finally able to shove Marcel backwards, "This night has been a long parade of fools. I'll enjoy killing every last one of you."
Klaus finally woke up with a gasp and wasted no time in getting up. Hayley grabbed a silver chain off the floor and threw it around Mikael's neck, pulling hard enough to knock him off his feet.
"Yeah, I wouldn't bet on it," she cast a smirk.
Davina entered the room in a hasty run, her neck oozing with blood Mikael had decided to feed on due to her spell. She went straight for Maleny, feeling awful she'd let her get caught in the crossfire. Though that also added to the many opponents Mikael already had - and that he knew.
"It's over, Mikael. You're outnumbered," Klaus called out to the man, "Are you going to beg for your miserable life?"
Mikael laughed, "You think having people makes you strong? It proves how weak you are. Come find me when you don't have fools, women and children fighting your battles," he threw them a scrap of wood at them before speeding out of the place.
The relief flooding the room became evident with the sighs that came out of everyone. After things got settled, Hayley and Marcel went to give the immediate area a final check for Mikael. Davina knew she had to get back to her 'friend' Kol who was outside, probably unconscious from Mikael's attack, but she wanted to have a word with Maleny first. She only took two steps forwards when Cami blocked the way.
"Cami, I just want to-"
"You've overdid it this time, Davina," the blonde scolded, though it was clear Cami struggled to be severely angry. She was still used to seeing Davina as just some kid who continued to be caught in crossfires of supernaturals. But now that she was a vampire, she had to force herself to see Davina as what she was: a witch with great power.
"I know," Davina agreed, but she wasn't sorry for trying to kill Klaus. She was only sorry Maleny got hurt and Marcel nearly died.
"Then you know I don't want to see you right now," Maleny called from her spot across the room, now sitting down on a wooden bench. She was waiting for Klaus to return with something to help her clean herself up. She needed Davina to be out of the room by that time that happened. God knows what the raging hybrid might do to the teen then.
"Mal, I'm really sorry," Davina ran a hand through her hair, frustrated.
"I know you are," Maleny could tell by her face the teen was genuinely sorry for her actions but it didn't erase all that happened, "I just don't want to see you right now. I think I'm entitled that after the day I had."
"If I can just explain-"
"Explain what, Davina?" Maleny couldn't help the cold tone lacing her words. She would've stood up if she felt herself again but for the moment she was stuck to the bench, "That you wanted to kill Klaus? Yeah, I heard the story. There's nothing to explain."
"You can't defend him, Mal! He's not a good person-"
"And neither are you, but you don't see me calling you out," Maleny said sourly, "I know what Klaus did to you and you don't know how sorry I am for that. You didn't deserve it."
"He killed Tim!" Davina exclaimed, her anger getting the best of her, "How can you defend that? Do you know how that feels?"
"See that's what I want you to think about," Maleny replied with, "If you know how that feels, losing someone you care about...why would you want to condemn to feel the same thing? After centuries of this curse, I...I don't think I could bear losing him anymore. If he dies then I will follow him."
"Mal, he's not…" Davina's eyes widened, gesturing back, "...he's not...he's not a good person! He's not worth it! You can do so much better-"
"I already have what I want from life and rest assure I will fight against anyone who threatens that," and however she could, she managed to stand but when Cami saw her wobbly legs she ran over to help, "And I'm sorry Davina, but if that means I have to fight you too...then I will."
Davina's eyes became glossy with the declaration, but she would not back down from what she felt was right, "Well," she swallowed down, "then I guess you've picked your side."
"I don't hate you Davina," Maleny whispered, "You're like a little sister to me..."
"I don't hate you either," Davina replied with the same whisper-like tone. Seeing there was no other thing to do, she turned on her heels and walked out.
Maleny sniffled and Cami slowly sat her down, "I'm sorry, Mal."
"For what?" Maleny sighed, "It wasn't you that tried to kill Klaus. I should be thanking you, actually. I heard Elijah's missing and yet you came down to help."
"Yeah well, Marcel learned what was going on and if Klaus dies so does he so that's how we got our ride here."
"And you?" Maleny looked at her cousin studiously, "You've gone for two weeks and you suddenly came by to help?" Cami guiltily looked to the side, "What happened, Cami?" Maleny asked quietly, "Elijah came back and said you two had a disagreement or something…"
"Petty disagreement," Cami dismissed the Original's topic with a clear of her throat.
"Right, well that 'petty disagreement'," Maleny did air quotation marks, "had Elijah moping around like never before," she then noticed the blush creeping over Cami's cheek, making her begin to smirk, "Cami...is there something you'd like to share with me?"
Cami thanked her lucky stars that Klaus came into the room as she was no where near ready to talk about that with Maleny.
"Not much but I did find this," the hybrid waved a long towel in his hand, "Marcel might be pretty irritated I ransacked his car."
Maleny smiled as he came up to them and Cami felt it was time to for her to go, "I'll go see if Hayley and Marcel are back," she excused herself with rapidness and hurried out.
"What's wrong with her?" Klaus asked curiously as he watched the blonde vampire head out rapidly.
"Oh, I'm pretty sure she's got the hots for your brother but doesn't realize it yet," Maleny shrugged casually and took the towel from him, "But don't tell anyone I said that."
Klaus would've laughed at her if it hadn't been for everything that had happened earlier. He bent down in front of her to clear up the dried blood from her when she noticed the stab wound on his chest hadn't cleared up yet.
"Is that going to hurt longer?" she whispered, gently placing a hand over the wound.
"It'll be fine soon enough," Klaus took her hand and gripped it, "You pulled the stake out in the nick of time. A moment longer, and I would have been done for."
Horrified to even hear that thought, she shook her head, "Don't even say it. I don't...I don't ever want to hear the possibility of that. Instead, I'd like to hear how we plan to kill Mikael as soon as we get the chance. Because I want him dead - to ashes if possible."
Klaus raised an eyebrow, taken aback by the cold bluntness in her tone, "Well, and here I thought you'd be getting rest and-"
"Listen," Maleny stopped him with her other hand, "When we stop Mikael and find Elijah then you can be a good nurse this time and put me to bed…" and then she thought how that sounded out a second later, "...okay, that sounded less awkward in my head," Klaus smirked and Maleny, embarrassed, laughed and hid her face behind her hands, "Shut up, just shut up and don't say anything."
Klaus lowered her hands from her face and softened as he reached to touch the bite marks still clear on her neck, "You shouldn't have been caught in this…"
"I've always been in this and that's the way I want it to be," Maleny firmly told him, "This is my side, my choice and no one's going to take it from me," surprised, Klaus blinked and slowly began to smile.
"You made your decision," Klaus felt like a child the way he said it, unable to hide his relief and happiness as he cupped her face.
"In the end, this is my family," Maleny softly said, purposely leaning forwards, "I came so far and I'm not losing any one of you for anything nor anyone."
She had the most beautiful of smiles across her face, so Klaus thought. He traced her lips with a thumb, wondering what kind of scold he would get from her if he stole a kiss off her. Unfortunately, mere seconds after he decided going for one, the others returned.
"So, Mikael's no where to be seen," Hayley announced, eyeing the pink-faced Maleny.
Klaus rose to his feet and turned to the trio, looking less embarrassed than Maleny, "I appreciate your assistance."
Marcel smiled, "Well, hey! You die, I die. Just call me selfish," but his eyes moved to Maleny and for the first time since they met, he spoke to her a in a kind tone, "I'm glad you're okay too, Maleny."
The blonde nodded, "Thank you. I'm glad my cousin's been in good care for this past week. I really appreciate that."
"And now that everything's a little better, I think we all need to turn our attention to Elijah," Cami reminded them all, hoping she didn't sound rude, "And we should hurry up."
And just like she wanted, they did.

One day passed and to everyone's misfortune (especially Cami's) Elijah was no where in sight. It led Klaus to do his common strategies when time was turning precious - torture. Consequently, in her piano room, Maleny desperately tried to drown out the shrill cries of pain by trying to successfully reproduce a tune Elijah had been meaning to teach her.
"Lavender's blue..." she mumbled to herself, wincing every now and then, "...lavender...lavender..." but then came the biggest scream possible and she quit, "Ah!" she growled in frustration and raised her hands, balling them into fists.
It had been her ridiculous attempt to get over being kidnapped and nearly killed instead of going for the usual 'take a rest and nap' thing. Clearly, nothing would be working. Taking a breath, she got up and left the room.
She passed Klaus' bedroom in favor of Hayley's, knowing the first was locked for clear reasons. Hayley was already having a conversation with Klaus in the nursery room, the connecting doors of Klaus' room also shut.
"So, the word 'interrogation' has lost the meaning I knew about," Maleny walked in more or less annoyed with the disturbance.
"Turns out witches are delicate creatures," Klaus said without thinking and earned himself a mock glare.
"Thanks," Maleny crossed her arms.
"Of course not you, love," Klaus casually corrected himself, unaware of the blush and smile the blonde acquired from the comment, "No matter! I suspected my mother had Elijah captive."
"Great," Haley started fishing for her phone in her jeans' pocket, "Then let's call Cami and tell her. She's been out looking with Gia."
But Klaus refused with a shake of his head, "Esther is too powerful. She won't be easily found. I need to draw her out."
"On your own," Maleny blinked, "That's too dangerous."
"Well you can't come with me, can you?" Klaus countered with and quickly shut Hayley down before she nominated herself, "And since you need someone to watch over you, Hayley's staying here."
"Are we really going through this whole babysitting thing again?" Maleny raised an eyebrow, "Because I think I've dealt with worse things now."
"Look, if either of you come," Klaus gestured between her and Hayley, "then my mother will be sure to use one of you - if not both of you - to thwart me. I can't save Elijah if I'm busy saving you," he moved to close the doors again when Maleny stopped him.
"Can we talk afterwards, then?" Maleny inquired in low whisper, "It's really important," and yet even though it was so important she hadn't had the chance to talk to him about it since they returned from Mikael's adventure. Klaus had immediately set to finding Elijah all through the day and the morning.
"Afterwards," Klaus promised with a wide smile, moving back into his room.
Maleny sighed and whirled around to Hayley, looking more than disappointed. Hayley patted her arm and started leading her back to her own room on the other side of the nursery, "There, there, you want a drink?"
Maleny playfully rolled her eyes, "You can't get me drunk to forget my problems, Hayley. One of these days, it's not going to work."
Hayley laughed as they walked out of her room when they both heard a new voice calling out from the courtyard.
"Hello?" it was a young woman's voice...and French too, "Hello? Is anyone in here?"
Maleny's eyes widened as she recognized the voice and therefore the woman. She quickly ran up to the banister and looked down to see a tall, dark-haired woman standing in the middle, curiously looking around.
Hayley came up beside her, confused of what was happening, "Who's that, Mal?"
Maleny smiled at the woman below, "Amarrah!"

Cami and Gia walked into Marcel's apartment wearing glum faces, though the blonde looked more upset as was expected. After patrolling the Quarter, and the Algiers, they came up with nothing new on Elijah.
"So I'm assuming the search wasn't a success?" Marcel asked from the couch.
"Do you see an Original with us?" Cami sarcastically motioned to the space around her.
"She's a bit cranky cos she hasn't slept at all," Gia sarcastically smiled as she plopped down to the couch across Marcel, "We did what you advised - kept a low profile - went all over the city but there's no sign of Elijah anywhere."
"Yeah," Marcel nodded, "The humans I know said the same thing. Maybe Klaus is having better luck?"
"He would've called me already," Cami rubbed her face in pure frustration. She could not believe Elijah had been gone for days now and without leaving a trace.
"Actually," Hayley strolled into the room, "He would not have. Mal would kill him if he did."
Cami quickly turned around for the brunette, "Has he found him yet?"
"No," Hayley shook her head, "But I could use a rescue mission team again."
"For Elijah…?"
"Nope, that's all Klaus," Hayley clarified, "I'm talking about Oliver. Now, he and Elijah were fighting the werewolves together. I've heard that Oliver's been captured and is about to be executed. Now, look- if we can save Oliver, then we might be able to find out where Elijah is."
Marcel thought the plan wrong and made his question, "Kay, so what do you want from us?"
"Just a little distraction. Esther's son, Finn, he's the one that's controlling the werewolves. If you can keep him out of the way, I can go get Ollie myself."
"You can't take on all those wolves by yourself. You'll get killed, and then I'll get killed for letting it happen."
Hayley sighed, "I'm not going in alone. The werewolves may be answering to the witches, but they still have an Alpha. I just have to find him."
"Jackson?" Cami recalled the name of Hayley's supposed betrothed and frowned, "He's been gone for months now. How do you expect to find him?"
Hayley didn't have a clear plan but she knew she was going to find him no matter what, "Are you in or out?"
Cami bit her lip, glancing at the window, "But Elijah…"
"Will be found by Klaus," Hayley assured.
"And Mal…?"
"She sort of has company today," Hayley crossed her arms, "So she'll be pretty safe with that woman. Cami, I really need your help. Can I count on you?"
Cami looked at the brunette and nodded, "Of course," and she motioned for Hayley to lead the way.

Amarrah Collins, daughter of one of the heads in the French coven that helped Maleny recuperate, sat on the foot of Maleny's bed intently studying every aspect of Maleny's bedroom. The expression on Amarrah's face led Maleny to believe she was angry - or at the very least annoyed. To be fair, Maleny was also annoyed with her abrupt presence because she knew Isabelle had sent the daughter to look after her.
"You were kidnapped," Amarrah broke the tensed silence in the room, finally returning her emerald green eyes to Maleny, the blonde leaning against her dresser.
"I suppose Isabelle felt the channeling of powers..." Maleny sighed, but was far stunned after Amarrah made a revelation.
"I have been in the Quarter for two weeks now and I am, frankly, appalled with your situation and the Mikaelsons."
"Wh-what-"
"How in the hell does this all powerful hybrid think it safe for you to wander the streets on your own when you could be hunted down?"
Maleny was blinking rapidly, her mind racing to let it sink in that Amarrah had basically been witness to all that occurred in the last two weeks. Amarrah was a genuinely fun person to be around with - a very witty woman - but when she was angry God help the people who are on the receiving end.
"Maleny, I thought this man, though impulsive as you said, was responsible," Amarrah crossed her arms, quite frankly disappointed she hadn't gotten a chance to meet this Klaus to give him a piece of her mind.
"He is-" Maleny meekly began but Amarrah wasn't finished.
"You have been in and out of this compound and mostly on your own. Very few times have I witnessed either the brunette woman accompanying you. My mother was right - you are in way over your head."
"Now wait a minute," Maleny straightened up, "People can't be with me 24/7. I can walk now, Ams, and I have enough power to defend myself."
"That's not the point," Amarrah interjected, "If someone finds to your last corpse and so happens to know witches they can bring you down."
"Thanks Ams," Maleny walked away from her French friend.
Amarrah sighed, softening somewhat, "You know I care for you, Mal, but I am very concerned for you alright? You told my mother Esther was back and, well...she's crazy!"
"I noticed," Maleny sarcastically said back, pretending to fiddle with a cardigan draped over her vanity desk chair.
"And then you were kidnapped. Do you know how crazy I went when I figured it out!? Mal, I was up and ready to call Mum!"
"You didn't actually do that did you!?" Maleny had whirled around in terror of the idea.
"No," Amarrah assured, "But I feel like I should have. I had no idea how to find you without anything of yours."
"I'm back, and I'm okay," Maleny gestured to her perfectly well appearance.
"I am very relieved," Amarrah sternly said, "But I am very serious about your security guards around here."
Maleny groaned and walked over to her bed, promptly letting herself fall flat on her back. She shut her eyes, "Please, not you too. Anyone but you. You're the fun one! The party one!"
"Am not," Amarrah shot her an offended look, "I'm a Police detective for crying out loud! I don't party."
"But you are still the fun one," Maleny insisted, opening her eyes, "And I am begging you not to talk about my 'safety measures'. For all that is good please spare me it."
Amarrah held her hands in surrender, "I suppose I'm not the first one who's brought it up?"
"You suppose right. Everyone does it - it's like the hot news of every freaking day. But oh! There's no one who does it more than Klaus."
"Hm, I guess there had to be something he did right in the midst of all this," Amarrah pretended to mutter to herself and got a whack on the arm from Maleny, "He couldn't be all bad, I meant."
"He's not bad to me, Ams. We can have our arguments and silent treatments but...even when you saw me out in the Quarter alone I knew he was somewhere in the crowd watching me over."
"Seriously?" Amarrah glanced at the blonde, doubtful. She had figured out there must have been a falling out between Maleny and Klaus during the two weeks she had been there, but she did come to believe the hybrid had just let her friend roam the streets on her own. "How would you know that? Did you see him?"
"Nope."
"Then how would you know?" she insisted again.
Maleny smiled to herself, staring up at the ceiling, "Because that's what he always does. It's actually kind of cute that he thinks I don't know he does it."
Amarrah made a face at that but Maleny didn't see it due to her dreamy stare up above, "You have one weird relationship, have I mentioned?"
Maleny sighed, "It's unique. And I like unique. But you know what I would really like more?"
"What?"
"To actually be in a proper, official relationship."
Amarrah gaped then, "You mean you're still..." she made a gesture with her hand, "...not together?"
"We've been busy," Maleny mumbled, "Arguing...and then solving problems...and arguing...a lot…" at the look Amarrah gave Maleny groaned, "It's not because of him. It's actually my fault."
"How so?"
"It's me being afraid, like usual," Maleny sighed, "It took one of my friends to give me a reality check. I've been meaning to talk to him but there's been some interruptions. But hopefully, when Klaus finds his brother we'll get some free time and I can tell him that I love him."
"I mean...if that's what you want to do," Amarrah scratched her head. Maleny rolled her eyes, knowing quite well that her friend disagreed with her love life. But, unlike Davina, she didn't constantly try to turn her away from it. She understood that it wasn't something she could understand. She was barely twenty six and hadn't really left her ranch town home in France in all of her life.
"I do," Maleny said with absolutely no doubt in her mind.
Amarrah then looked at her again, amusingly smiling, "You have such a weird relationship though..."
Maleny matched her smile, grateful they were slowly falling into their normal selves again, "Hey, at one point in our lives, Klaus and I were normal. It just another story of girl likes boy, boy likes girl."
"Yeah, before boy's parents turned boy into a hungry vampire," Amarrah reminded.
"Something girl also helped them to do," Maleny sat upright and shrugged, "But even after that, it was all good. I mean, there was a point where Klaus pushed me away while he learned to control himself, but eventually he did and we were okay again. All this that's happened, while bad, I wouldn't give up for a 'redo'."
"Seriously?"
"Seriously," Maleny nodded, "Because if we had stayed human we would have been dead for centuries now. There would be no New Orleans, no Cami, no Hayley, no Amarrah," she nudged the dark haired woman, "No French ranch...no little Hope Mikaelson."
"But there could have been different Mikaelson children," Amarrah didn't fail to bring up, "A child, Mal. Children. And they would be yours and Klaus. You wouldn't have been a step mother to some kid."
"I haven't even met Hope and I already love her to bits so please don't ever make it sound like it would be a burden to care for her," Maleny sharply scolded, understanding it hadn't been Amarrah's intention but she never wanted to hear something like that again, "And as for my own kids...they would've been nice - Klaus and I did have plans - but...it didn't happen. And it's sad, but there's nothing to do now."
Amarrah put an arm around Maleny's shoulders, "You're right, though," she said, in an attempt to uplift the mood she had brought down, "All this may be weird but you do sure love your weirdness."
That Maleny chuckle, "Oh Ams, I've missed you. And I'm fairly crossed you didn't come to me the moment you arrived to the Quarter."
"Sorry," Amarrah retracted her arm and stood up, Maleny noticing the sudden change in her tone, "I got, unintentionally, mixed up in a problem."
"What do you mean?"
Amarrah bit her lip nervously, "Mal, there's something you need to know."
"Like?"
"Okay," Amarrah sucked in a big breath and said it all in one go, "By accident I sort of made myself friends with the man I believe is your almost-boyfriend's older brother."
"Finn?" Maleny's mouth fell open.
"Mhm, please don't tell my mother! She will definitely kill me!"
"Ams, what's wrong with you!?"
"I didn't know who he was until a week ago! I thought he was just some guy renting me my apartment!"
"He's passing himself off as your landlord?" Maleny made a face, beginning to grow angry.
"I swear I was going to handle it on my own but I don't exactly know how to deal with a Mikaelson! Especially with a powerful witch like Finn."
"We'd need more people for that job," Maleny pointed, "But for now, I think you may be able to help out with another problem. Ams, I seriously hate to ask you but do you think you could help one of my friends today?"
"Sure, I guess," Amarrah shrugged, "But what's that go to do with this?"
"Because I'm pretty sure you're the key to helping Hayley save her friend from execution today," Maleny sighed and got up, walking to her nightstand where her phone laid.

And so that was how Amarrah found herself opening the door to her apartment for 'Vincent' (Finn) later on that day. Meeting up with this Hayley woman, they devised a plan in which Amarrah would keep Vincent occupied for an entire afternoon while she saved her friend Oliver from dying. That was why her kitchen's sink was an utter disaster.
'Vincent' may probably not even leave until late night came by.
And Finn having no idea who Amarrah herself was nor the trick being played, went right along with it.
~ 0 ~
Maleny read the text message Amarrah managed to send her a couple minutes back. She then texted Hayley to freely move on with her plan to save Ollie. Afterwards, the blonde headed for her room in the compound, still glum she'd been practically sent back like a kid to wait out the danger. Without Klaus, Elijah nor Hayley to 'look after her' Maleny was put under Cami's jurisdiction...though Cami herself wasn't too pleased with the plan. But since Hayley had technically found a much easier way to distract Finn, there hadn't been a need for much backup.
"Still nothing," a distraught Cami walked into Maleny's room, throwing off her jacket in frustration, "I thought Klaus was supposed to be good at hunting people down. Why hasn't he called?"
"Because he's still looking," Maleny said the obvious and earned a mock-glare from Cami.
"This isn't funny!" the blonde vampire exclaimed, "Elijah disappeared without a trace. Esther could be hurting him right now!"
"I doubt it, honestly," Maleny dismissed it casually as she continued ripping out pages from her journal, "Esther can be twisted but her methods are non life-threatening. She just wants them to accept her offer."
"You mean the one to place them, Hayley and I into mortal bodies?" Cami scoffed at the absurdity and went to sit on Maleny's bed.
Maleny sat at the edge and was filling up her area with balled papers, "The very one. Of course for me the offer is to get my previous corpse back and finally end the curse."
Cami shifted to face the blonde, "But can she really do it, though? Can she find your corpse?"
"I don't think she has to look very far," Maleny said and Cami tilted her head curiously, waiting for a clarification. Maleny stopped ripping up papers to look at her cousin, "It took me longer to figure out but I finally did. Esther has had my corpse this entire time."
Cami's eyes widened, "What!? How would you know!?"
"Because she never said to find my corpse, she was always keen on making sure I understood she could end the curse," Maleny elaborated the brief clue but clue nonetheless, "Anyone offering me a deal would begin more specifically by assuring me they would help me find the corpse. She's so calm about this curse and someone who has no pawns to play wouldn't be. She has my corpse somewhere, hidden no doubt."
"And you say this calmly?" Cami blinked rapidly, "If you've known this why didn't you say something?"
"Because I only just realized it," Maleny sighed.
"Are you going to tell Klaus?"
"Eventually, but after he gets Elijah back. Priorities."
Cami gave a nod of understanding. She seemed to be grateful for Maleny's way of thinking. Right now, their main priority was getting Elijah back. She really missed the Original in the sharp suit. Time seemed to pass far slower than it normally would, and it would continue to until Klaus returned with Elijah.

"You know, I liked this whole distracting thing," Amarrah chuckled over the phone, making Maleny roll her eyes. She should've figured Amarrah would be laughing over the grave situation. Amarrah always talked about adventure back in France, how she wanted to travel and do new things. Maleny wondered if these were the sorts of things Amarrah was thinking about.
"Well, Hayley says thanks," Maleny stood at the doorway of her room, actively waiting for the return of Klaus and hopefully Elijah, "She got Ollie back. She's in the bayou right now with him and apparently Jackson."
"But you know, speaking strategically, this thing could be good for you guys," Amarrah paused for a minute, "I think he may like me."
"No, trust me," Maleny shook her head, "Finn has only ever loved one woman and I doubt she'll ever make an appearance. You're some type of pawn for him and Esther."
"Oh, thanks," Amarrah laughed for a minute before going sober, "I meant that this little thing your friend Finn has with me can come in handy when you need another distraction - or even information. Haven't you heard the saying? Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?"
"Except I doubt that saying was talking about a thousand-old witch and her son," Maleny leaned off the door fringe and sighed.
"I'm only saying, Mal. It can come in handy."
"Thank you Amarrah, seriously," Maleny said quietly, "And I'm glad you decided to tell me you were here. Though I'm still not content that Isabelle made you come just to keep an eye on me."
"It's alright," Amarrah said, "The entire family's worried about you, Mal. You've been our most precious possession for centuries."
"Because that doesn't make me feel weird," Maleny laughed, her cheeks a bright pink.
"You are, hush! Now, I must leave you for sleep. Goodnight, Mal. And...good luck with your special talk tonight."
Maleny then blushed deeper, "Goodnight Amarrah," she quickly said back then hung up.
Just as she returned to her bedroom, she heard noise from downstairs. She quickly left her cellphone in her room and ran out, barely catching Klaus going into Elijah's room upstairs.
"Cami!" Maleny immediately called for and ran for Elijah's bedroom. Elijah was laid flat on his bed, his clothes torn and disheveled, "What happened to him?" she asked Klaus quietly.
"My mother," Klaus muttered just as Cami hurried inside.
"Oh my God!" the blonde was in horror but nonetheless ran for Elijah's side, "What the hell happened to him?" she didn't know how to care for him, nor even how to touch him fearing she would only hurt him. He was breathing erratically and shifting in his sleep, which Cami figured wasn't really 'asleep' but some sort of trance or spell.
"It was Esther, she had him in the cemetery and did God knows what," Klaus shook his head and headed out of the room.
"How do we help him?" Cami turned after him but remained put.
"I don't know yet," Klaus answered and glanced to his brother, for once having no idea how to help, "Esther said he would be asleep for an entire day, and then...I don't know..."
Esther had shown Elijah 'the error of his ways' and left him in that state. There would be dire consequences and Klaus could only fear what they were.

Beautiful Distraction
Thanks to the lovely Julie aka @supremeuppityone for her plethora of prompts she sent. I decided to split them up and do one now and hopefully the others at a later stage. For Klaroline Rewind (I’m late but I’ll be doing these prompts all weekend given how many I have). This is set in the TVD world, but not anything in canon.
(3) No amount of sorry was going to fix her idiot friend Enzo breaking Rebekah’s heart...but her first priority was to hide him before Klaus found out.
“Caroline,” he murmured, looking up from his easel, paintbrush in hand. “This is a pleasant surprise.”
Caroline shivered inwardly as his eyes wandered below her creamy neck and golden waves. The fitted, black dress she wore had done its job obviously.
“Klaus,” she nodded, realising she hadn’t practiced what she was going to say but given his effect on her, as usual, Caroline was sure she would have forgotten anyway.
Why the hell did he have to wear those henleys anyway? It gave her far too much access to those necklaces around his bare skin.
“Are you okay, love?”
“Yeah,” she lied, thinking this whole distraction attempt wasn’t going to plan. If only her stupid ass friend hadn’t stuffed up Caroline would be on her couch with a glass of wine and watching the Notebook for the millionth time. “Just fine.”
Three hours earlier
“You did what?”
“Caroline, not so loud,” he growled, holding his head.
“Oh I’m sorry,” she drawled. “Is my talking interfering with your hangover?”
“Well, now that you mention it...”
“How could you be so damn stupid Enzo!”
“Well, I wasn’t in my right mind.”
“You were drunk off your ass, hardly a good excuse for possibly cheating on your girlfriend, Lorenzo.”
“Now, we don’t know that I did actually do that,” he reasoned.
“Oh, so you walk around with ladies panties in your pocket usually, do you?”
“I was drowning my sorrows because Rebekah broke up with me.”
“Rebekah always breaks up with you because you’re always doing stupid things,” she chided. “It doesn’t give you an excuse to hook up with some random from the Mystic Grill.”
“I still dispute that anything happened,” he argued. “I love Rebekah, even if she scares me like ninety-nine percent of the time.”
“Well, nice work Romeo,” she shot back. “If Rebekah doesn’t stake you in the heart, her brother most certainly will.”
“Which one?”
“You make a good point, lucky for you Finn, Elijah and Kol are all out of town this weekend, Klaus on the other hand.”
“And to think the hangover was my biggest concern,” he muttered. “I’m sure I can get to the bottom of this. I just need to find the underwear’s owner.”
“Because that worked out so well for you the last time. Mystic Falls is a small town, if Rebekah doesn’t know about it now she will soon enough.”
“Do you have any better ideas?”
“Yes. Hide.”
“Forever?”
“No, not forever you idiot. I’m going to get Katherine to track down the mystery woman, she has a good eye for lingerie.”
“And what are you going to do?”
“A little distraction 101,” she groaned. “Trust me, I’ve had more than enough practice when it comes to diverting Klaus’ attention elsewhere.”
+++++++
“Okay,” Klaus replied unconvincingly. “Not that I’m complaining about you being here, but why exactly are you?”
“Do I need a reason?”
“Of course not,” he replied. “But you do realise that I’m well aware this is just another distraction attempt by you and your little friends.”
“This isn’t a distraction,” she scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “I happen to need something from you.” His eyebrow shot up curiously, that damn dimple in his left cheek making an unwanted appearance.
“Oh really?” He smirked. “Well, I’m all ears, sweetheart.”
“I need your help.”
“Now, this is intriguing,” he mused, stepping out from behind his easel and making Caroline notice just how toned his legs looked in those dark jeans. She closed her eyes momentarily before continuing. She was supposed to hate Klaus Mikaelson but she couldn’t get her stupid body to behave. “What can I do for you?”
“I’ve uh,” she stumbled, noticing the paintbrush in his hand. “Decided to make the Sheriff a birthday gift this year.”
“And?”
“I decided to paint her something but I don’t know anyone who paints as well as you,” she complimented, hoping it would get a reaction.
“I seem to recall your comments about my snowflake,” he pressed, edging a little closer.
“Well, it was a snowflake,” she argued then remembered she was trying to distract him. “But I thought maybe you could teach me.”
“And you thought that was fitting attire to paint?”
“I didn’t think there were any steadfast rules,” she scoffed.
“Here,” he offered, pulling the paint-stained henley over his head.
“Why, uh, why are you doing that?”
“We don’t want your dress to get paint splatters on it now, do we?” Before she could respond, he was placing it over her head half-naked.
Oh, God. What was she supposed to do now?
“Are you okay, love?”
“Just, uh, fine, thank you,” she replied primly, not expecting him to take her hand, the shock she felt from his touch was enough to start a fire. “What are you doing?”
“Teaching you how to paint,” he grinned, taking her over to the easel and replacing his brilliant beginnings of a landscape with a nearby blank canvas. “Now take this,” he instructed giving her a clean brush.
What she wasn’t expecting was for him to stand behind her.
Closely.
Really closely.
So close his spicy aftershave was assaulting her nostrils.
“Now, I want you to start with some slow strokes,” he commanded, his hand finding hers and grasping the brush with his fingers. As he dipped the brush in paint, it took every last shred of willpower to speak.
“Um, why are you doing that?”
“I’m teaching you to paint, Caroline,” Klaus whispered, his lips practically touching her ear lobe. “Just relax.”
“That’s not really my thing,” she managed to bite out.
“That’s your problem right there,” he offered. “Painting is supposed to be one of the best outlets for stress relief.”
Caroline could think of something else that would be good for stress relief and it didn’t involve painting and required a lot less clothing. She closed her eyes, trying to ignore just how good his toned chest felt against her back.
“Niklaus!” Caroline broke out of her reverie, she’d know that shrill voice and demanding tone anywhere. Enzo St John was as good as dead. “Well, well. What exactly is going on here?”
“Nothing,” Caroline replied guiltily, taking her hands off the brush. “We are just painting.”
“Half dressed? Actually, don’t answer that, I don’t need any more visuals.”
“To what do I owe the pleasure, Rebekah?” Klaus emitted a low growl, the werewolf inside him threatening to emerge.
“I’m sure she’s just paying a nice visit to her brother,” Caroline interrupted before Rebekah could explain. “Not, coming here to tell you anything about what someone may or may not have done and asking you to kill said person.”
“If I wanted to kill someone, I’d want the pleasure of doing it myself, Forbes,” Rebekah scowled. “What is up with you today? You’re being higher strung than usual.”
“She has a point, love,” Klaus agreed, not making any attempts to distance himself from her. Caroline was actually surprised the siblings agreed on something. “You’re definitely more anxious than usual, want to share something?”
“Hello! Anyone home?”
Caroline really did love her best friend but was an absolute idiot sometimes. Why in the hell he was walking into the lion’s den she’d never understand.
“And here I thought it was going to be a quiet evening at home,” Klaus shared. “What are you doing here, St John?”
“Can’t I come visit my favourite brother-in-law without the third degree?”
“You’re going to marry this knucklehead?” Klaus demanded. “I entertained him because I thought you’d get sick of him but I did not sign up for a life term.”
“It was just a figure of speech, bro,” Enzo insisted. “No need to get your panties in a twist, Niklaus.”
“Panties, Enzo, really?” Caroline groaned.
“Speaking of panties, can I have mine back?” Rebekah asked her boyfriend. “They are my favourite pair.”
“Are you serious?” Caroline shouted. “What in the hell, Enzo?”
“Well, Rebekah decided we should do a little matchmaking, apparently Niklaus is nicer when he’s getting some.”
“Hey,” Klaus muttered.
“So, I came over here to help you out so this idiot doesn’t kill you and it was all one of Rebekah’s ridiculous schemes?”
“Basically, yes,” Rebekah offered. “I knew you’d run over here to protect Enzo but I had no idea just how well we’d do.”
“You did not,” she replied childishly.
“Well, he is half-naked,” Enzo pointed out.
“What the hell is going on here? And just so you know killing Enzo isn’t off the table right now,” Klaus said for his sister’s benefit.
“I pretended to be unfaithful to your sister so Caroline would come over to distract you from killing me.”
“Not bad, St John,” Klaus grinned. “Maybe I do like you. But just so you know she wasn’t distracting me, I was already onto her plan.”
“Are you serious?” Caroline baulked. “Please kill him before I do.”
“Looks like the distracter has become the distractee,” Klaus murmured, those sinful, crimson lips curving into a knowing smile.
“Unbelievable,” she growled, turning to leave the room. “You all deserve each other.”
“Until next time we meet, love,” Klaus called out after her.
Caroline was already nervous about when that would be and what it would entail. Klaus Mikaelson was becoming increasingly more difficult to resist and that’s what she was afraid of.

LOVE FOR ETERNITY - PART 47
MASTERLIST
PART 47: | THERE IS A THIN LINE BETWEEN DARKNESS AND LIGHT |
[MARSEILLES, FRANCE: AUGUST, 1002.]
Natali didn’t saw Kol for a few days, but she heard that he killed a lot of people in the villages. He wasn’t looking for her. She wouldn’t either if he said same things that she said to him. But she wanted so badly to share with him that she still has magic so she went looking for him. His sister Rebekah heard that Natali was looking for him so she stopped her in the hallway of the castle and said, “Hi, you must be that girl I heard that Kol was hanging around with.”
- “Yeah, I guess I’m.” Natali told her.
- “I’m his sister, Rebekah.” Rebekah said smiling.
- Natali smiled back, “My name is Natali.”
- “Nice to meet you. I know your family is quite important around here.” Rebekah told her.
- “Do you know where Kol is?” Natali got straight to the point.
- “Unfortunately I don’t know, but I can tell him that you were looking for him when I see him.” Rebekah said.
- “Yes, please, do that. Natali told her.
- “Do you like him?” Rebekah asked.
- “Um, I don’t know.” Natali replied.
- “I suppose you know what we are, I would suggest you to be careful around him.” Rebekah told her.
- “Well I’m like you.” Natali said.
- “What? Did he turned you?” Rebekah asked surprised, but also Natali could see that she wasn’t happy about it.
- “He did. I wanted that, but then I said some things to him and I haven't saw him since then.” Natali told her.
- “He should’ve never do that.” Rebekah said.
- “He didn’t want to do that, but he did when he saw how much I want that.” Natali said.
- “Why would you want to be like us? We are cursed.” Rebekah said.
- “I have my own reasons, but I can’t tell you that.” Natali said.
After that Natali walked away from her and went back into her room, she also took servant with her because she was hungry. In these few days she manage to control herself when she feed, but when she’s angry or upset it’s harder for her to do that. This was one of those times, she feed on the girl and killed her. The girl was lying dead on the floor, while Natali sat on the bed, hoping that Rebekah will tell Kol that she was looking for him. Few minutes later she heard that someone opened doors of her room, but it was her sister. She walked into Natali’s room so quickly that she didn’t even looked at her or the dead girl on the floor and while Renée was closing the door she was saying, “Our parents said that you’ll be going with them-” and when she turned around the first thing she saw was body on the ground in a puddle of blood. Her eyes grow wide when she saw it, then she looked at Natali, “Oh my God! Don’t tell me you’re one of them now.”
- “Then I won’t tell you if that will make you feel better.” Natali replied.
- “You’re a monster.” Renée exclaimed and wanted to open the door, but Natali held her hand in the air and locked them.
- “How did you do that?” Renee asked.
- Then Natali vamp speeds in front of Renée and says, “Becoming a vampire gave me ability to have powers all the time.”
- “No.” Renée said shaking her head.
- “Yes. I have an endless source of power now.” Natali said smiling.
- “I’m going to tell our parents what you’ve become.” Renée said.
- “Tell them.” Natali said and moved herself from the door. When Renée unlocked the door, she stormed out of the room.
An hour later, she came back along with their parents and when Natali opened the door she said, “I was expecting all of you.”
- “What have you become?” Her mother asked.
- “A vampire. Didn’t she tell you that?” Natali said glancing at her sister.
- “She did, but we were hoping it’s not true.” Her mother said.
- “Well it is and now I can have magic always.” Natali told them.
- “You became even a bigger monster, them you were before.” Her father said.
- “So you didn’t just though I’m different? You thought I’m a monster?” Natali said angry.
- “Yes, you’re abomination.” Her father said.
- “So what are you going to do now?” Natali asked wondering.
- “You, you’re not a part of this family anymore and you can’t live here anymore, same as we don’t want you in our castle.” Her father said.
- “Fine. I don’t care, you’ve all lied to me my whole life. I don’t want to be a part of family like that.” Natali said.
- “Then you should go or we’ll call guards to escort you out.” Her mother said.
- “And I’ll kill them all.” Natali said and saw a disgusted look on their faces.
After that she went out of the castle and didn’t came back. Natali went to nearest village and killed some people so she can live in their house. She wasn’t even sorry anymore for killing people.

[THE PRESENT DAY:]
After a long twelve hours of parting in the club and having an after party in their bedroom mostly everyone slept through the whole day.
When Natali and Kol wake up they had a shower together just so it can freshen them up and help them to wake up quicklier. After they were done they went downstairs into a living room where they saw Rebekah and Eric together and they were feeding on humans.
- “Did the plasma wear off of you?” Kol asked, watching as his sister dropped another body onto the floor.
- “It did. But I’m still very hungry.” Rebekah told him.
- “Eric didn’t satisfy your hunger last night, better say morning.” Natali said mockingly.
- “Shut up.” Rebekah let out, giving her a glare.
- Natali laughed before saying, “Well now that you’re sober, tell me what do you think about plasma.”
- “I must say I really felt amazing.” Rebekah replied.
- “I know, right?” Natali said, “It so powerful.”
- “You use it all the time?” Rebekah asked.
- “Well not all the time. Before Kol was undaggered I did use it quite a lot.” Natali told her.
- “Oh, yeah, I remember.” Eric remarked.
- “I’m sure you do.” Natali said with a little smirk.
- “What? What do we don’t know?” Kol asked, sounding a little jealous.
- “Nothing special.” Eric said, “Your girlfriend just almost exposed vampires to humans. Not just here but everywhere she traveled.”
- “Can you believe that even Elijah came here once and told me to calm down.” Natali told them.
- “Yeah, I can.” Kol said taking a sip of his whiskey.
- “That was before things got even worse.” Eric told them.
- “Oh come on. It wasn’t that bad.” Natali stated.
- “Do tell.” Kol said.
- Well when I saw Elijah the first time after that night when he helped Klaus to dagger you, I almost daggered him. But I couldn't because the dagger I had was already made for Klaus into a gold dagger and he reminded me that I will die if I dagger him, so yeah, he was lucky, otherwise I would probably do that to him.” Natali informed them.
- “Too bad.” Kol remarked.
- “Kol!” Rebekah exclaimed.
- “What?” Kol asked turning towards her.
- “Don’t say it like that.” Rebekah told him.
- “Easy for you to say, Elijah wasn’t helping Klaus to dagger you.” Kol said, his voice a little harsh.
- “Well maybe you did crossed a line every time.” Rebekah said quickly.
- Kol gave her a look of disbelief, “Really sister?”
- “I didn’t mean it like that.” Rebekah told him.
- “Oh, you did. You would always take their side.” Kol said.
- Rebekah frowned, “I wouldn’t.”
- “Always and forever, that’s the pact the three of you made.” Kol reminded her, while staring at her intently. He always felt hurt that he wasn’t included into their pact.
- “You are family which mean you’re part of that too.” Rebekah said, her voice sounding nicer than before.
- “Never felt like I’m.” Kol says cloudy, clearly trying to hold his temper, but failing miserably. He glanced at his sister once more, before using his vampire speed and flashing out of the room.
- “KOL!” Rebekah shouted.
The only response she received was the sound of the front door of the mansion closing.
- Natali sighed, “Great. Now I need to go and look for him.”
- “Let me help.” Rebekah says.
- Natali raised a palm of her hand to stop Rebekah, “You’ve done enough.”

Infinitely Different Masterlist
You skipped down the stairs in order to grab a bottle of bourbon from the massive stash held by the Salvatore brothers. The talk you were having with your brothers was less painful than you had originally anticipated. Dean was being fairly tame about the whole situation and Sam was supportive as always. You wish that you could get a straight answer from Dean, but the overprotective big brother role was one he took incredibly seriously. If he could convince you to never date and stay with them at the bunker forever, he would.
You stepped off the staircase with the intention of heading towards the foyer and the large amount of alcohol it held. When you hit the bottom step, something felt off. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but something wasn’t right.
Moving down the hall, you called out for the Salvatore’s, “Damon? Stefan?”
You walked to the large entryway of the boarding house and stopped. No one was in sight and all you heard was the footsteps of your older brothers upstairs. Odd.
Opening your mouth to call for the brothers again, you were interrupted when a solid form slammed into your right side. The force sent you flying into the foyer, causing you to crash into the glass cabinet on the opposite wall.
You laid there for a moment, the impact leaving you dazed. It was a few moments later when you saw Damon rush into the room, obviously alerted by the sound of the crash. Stefan then entered the room, immediately appearing at your side. He put a hand to the side of your head and when he pulled away, it was covered in blood.
“What the hell just happened, Y/N?”
You squinted up at Stefan above you. It took you a moment to answer in your dazed state, “Hell if I know. I didn’t throw myself into this cabinet.”
Damon turned to make his way to you but was also thrown across the room, his form rolling over the pool table. Stefan stood and soon followed his brother, the blonde crashing into the kitchen table behind it. The next thing you knew, you were on your feet on the few steps leading into the foyer. Someone was holding you up, one hand in your hair and the other on your throat.
“Hello gentlemen, I think it’s time we had a little chat.”
You couldn’t see your attacker, but by the looks on Stefan and Damon’s faces when they reappeared in front of you, it was no one good. Whoever it was, was yelling in your ear and the Salvatore’s began yelling back.
“Let her go, Klaus,” demanded Stefan.
Klaus??? Fan-fucking-tastic, you thought to yourself.
“See now that’s something I cannot do,” his grip on your neck and in your hair tightened slightly, causing you to grasp onto each of his wrists, “Now you see I was minding my own business, returning home from New Orleans when I saw this harlot leaving my home here in Mystic Falls. Could you imagine my surprise when I see that she is, not only a hunter, but also a Winchester? And it seems you lot are who brought her here.”
Damon moved forward slowly, his hands held out in front of him, “Klaus she’s not here for you or your family.”
The Original laughed, “Any hunter that comes near my family automatically begins hunting us, I believe it’s an annoying part of their DNA.”
Footsteps could be heard running down the stairs and you knew your brothers were about to appear. All you could think about was whether or not they were about to make things worse.
“Klaus we called her here, yes, but it wasn’t for you. I know one of your brothers had to tell you about the killings that were happening on the outskirts of town, that’s why she’s here. It was a Wendigo and she’s the only person we knew who could take care of it.” Your brothers appeared beside Stefan while he was talking, him holding out a hand to stop them from running towards you. “She stopped the killings and probably prevented us from being exposed. Talk to your brothers, they know about her.”
“Oh I can tell my brothers have met her, she smells a little like Elijah.” He bent his head to speak in your ear, “Tell me love, did you seduce my brother in order to get to my family?”
“No,” you managed to rasp around his hand on your throat.
“Talk to Elijah, Klaus. Just let her go and we can all talk about this civilly; we’ve been peaceful for months, we’d like to keep it that way,” pleaded Stefan.
Klaus’ gaze was locked on your brothers, “I see the rest of the Winchester’s decided to join us. You mean to tell me that you didn’t gather the best hunters on the planet here in Mystic Falls to come after us? Their father sure did a bloody good job hunting us on his own.”
“Thanks for the compliment but we aren’t here for you, bloodsucker. Now let our sister go.” Dean growled.
“I don’t much care for being ordered around by your kind.”
“We aren’t here for you Klaus, I swear. We came for our sister and were planning on returning home. This has nothing to do with you or your family. Please, just let her go.” Sam begged.
“Klau-”
His hand tightened on your throat to the point you couldn’t breathe, “Shut-up.”
You began coughing in an attempt to get air around Klaus’ hand on your throat. Unsuccessfully, unfortunately. If he didn’t loosen his grip, you’d be unconscious soon and dead not long after that. For the first time in a very long time, you were truly scared for your life.
“Take it easy. Don’t hurt her; I promise you she isn’t a threat, none of them are.” Damon’s voice was rising as his concern for your life rose with it. Thankfully, Klaus loosened his grip on your throat enough for the black spots in your vision to recede. You still couldn’t breathe very well, but at least you weren’t in danger of losing consciousness anymore.
Suddenly, you heard the front door fly open. A form flashed into the room and attempted to remove you from Klaus’ hold. Just as fast, however, he flashed out of its reach and ultimately returned to the position you had just been in. When everyone had stopped moving, you saw the identity of the vampire who had run into the room.
Elijah.
“Niklaus, release her.”
“Ah, brother, how nice of you to join us. You came just in time to watch me snap this huntress’ pretty little neck,” He jostled you as he spoke to emphasize his control on the situation.
“Niklaus, there is no reason to harm her. Yes, these are the same Winchester’s whose father hunted us 20 years ago but that is not the reason they are here. There was a creature here in town that she eliminated and she is friends with the Salvatore’s. That is all.”
Klaus leaned down to smell your neck, “Then tell me, dear brother, why this human smells of you?”
Elijah sighed; Klaus was not going to take this well. “Because, she was mortally injured during her hunt near the manor. I found her in the woods and healed her; she had my blood in her system and was at the manor last night, that is why her scent also smells of mine.”
Klaus’ face turned red, “Why was this huntress in our home, brother?”
“To thank Kol and I for saving her life. She and her siblings are not a threat. Let. Her. Go.”
“Ah now see, that cannot be the only reason she was in our home. Even if you gave her your blood two nights ago, she should not still smell of you.” Klaus looked from his brother to yours and back again with a smirk, “Why brother, have you been having relations with this woman? Awfully scandalous of you.”
Elijah blushed and was too busy giving his brother a death glare to notice the one being sent his way by the eldest Salvatore. This really wasn’t the way you wanted Damon to find out, but it seemed it was too late. If you survived this, you had one seriously awkward conversation in your future.
“That is none of your business, Niklaus. Now please, I am asking as your family, let Y/N go.”
The room fell silent. Everyone had different looks on their faces; Sam looked low-key terrified, Dean looked straight up pissed off, Stefan looked worried, and Elijah looked pissed and worried, a looked mirrored on Damon’s face.
“Please, just let my sister go. If you want, we’ll leave Mystic Falls right after.”
“No Sam, I’m not going to let this asshole run one of the best people in my life out of my town.” Damon cursed at the hybrid.
“Now, now Damon, there’s no need for name-calling. Why so upset? Is my older brother encroaching on your territory? Brother did you steal Damon’s human? It’s unlike you to be so rude.”
“Go to hell, Klaus,” Damon hissed.
His grip on your neck tightened once more, “I’d be a little nicer to me if I were you Mr. Salvatore. I’d hate for my hand to slip and accidentally snap your little human whore’s neck.”
“Niklaus, stop this madness. These people are obviously not after us, why are you so angry she was with me?”
“BECAUSE ALL HUNTERS ARE THE SAME ELIJAH!” Klaus yelled, “Their father hunted us for years and came too close to finding the white oak. They are manipulating you, all of you. All hunters seem to hate vampires above all others.”
“Speaking for both my siblings, I can say we hate demons over anything else.” You sassed your captor.
His grip tightened once more, “You’re awfully mouthy for someone in your position, love. I suggest you keep quiet.”
“Just let her go, brother. She poses no threat.”
Klaus removed his hand from the back of your head, inspecting it closely when he realized it was covered in your blood. You heard both of your brothers draw sharp breaths at the realization you were injured. The hybrid looked at the blood on his hand and decided to take a taste.
“I can see why you find her so alluring, gentlemen. I must say, she tastes delicious,” Klaus smirked at Damon and Elijah, who were now side by side in front of him, “But no woman is worth risking my family. I made a vow to protect you as we stuck together, always and forever.”
“Niklaus...”
“I’m doing this for you brother, I am sorry.” He turned to look at the other four men in the room, “To you lot, I am not sorry. You brought this on yourself.”
“Klaus please,” begged Damon. The Original smirked at him, it was obvious Klaus did not care about how whatever he was about to do would affect everyone else.
Time seemed to slow down for you, as it felt like you were having an out of body experience, watching everything happening to you. Both of your brothers looked terrified, as did the Salvatore brothers. Sam and Dean were afraid of what could happen; Stefan and Damon were afraid of what they knew was most likely about to happen.
Klaus smirked once more at the four men before jerking each hand in a different direction. “Sorry, brother.”
“NO!” all five men screamed.
You didn’t hear them. All you knew was a sharp pain in your neck before everything went black.
You were dead.

The Demon’s Lady: 05
Pairing: Kol Mikaelson x Reader
Fandom: The Originals

“This is the third weekend in a row that you’re going out with Kol,” Rich whined.
“Why are you whining? You should be happy that your sister is getting out of the house,” Jean shot back at her husband.
“Because he’s a Mikaelson!” Rich exclaimed.
Y/n rolled her eyes. “Rich, come on, you have to know that those are just stories,”
Rich crossed his arms over his chest.
“Well, I forbid her from going out on any more dates with him,” Rich said.
Jean scoffed as threw her hands up in the air in defeat
“You’re not the boss of me, Rich,” Y/n said.
Jean covered her mouth to hide her chuckle.
“What did you just say to me?” Rich said.
“You heard me, Rich. I appreciate you looking out for me, I really do. But this is my choice. I really like Kol. I enjoy spending time with him and that’s that. I’m sorry that you don’t like it, but that’s what I’m going to do,” Y/n said.
Rich let out a long sigh.
“If he lays one finger on you,” Rich began to threaten.
“You’re not going to do anything, Richard. She’s going to be fine with Kol,” Jean interrupted her husband.
“Fine, I’m going to see the kids,” Rich pouted as he stormed out of the living room.
Y/n looked over at her sister-in-law.
“Don’t worry about him. He’ll come around. Your his little sister he has to keep an eye on you,” Jean explained.
“I know. He’ll get used to it one day,” Y/n replied.
Y/n stayed with her family for a few more hours before heading home. Kol had invited Y/n over to his place tonight. The past few weekends the Kol had taken Y/n out on the town. This time he wanted her in his home where he could cook for her and sweep her off her feet.
Y/n dressed in a pair of jeans and one of her nicer tops. She kept her hair piled on top of her head. Once she was dressed and feeling a little less nervous, Y/n finally made her way out to her car, but she was surprised to see a black limo sitting at the end of her driveway. The driver gave her a small wave and a smile.
“Miss Y/n?” The driver asked.
“That would be me,” Y/n answered.
“Mr. Mikaelson sent me to drive you tonight,” He said as he opened the door.
“Of course he did,” Y/n said with a shake of her head before climbing in.
Inside the limo, Y/n pulled out her phone and dialed Kol’s number.
“Are you on your way love?” Kol asked.
“You know I am more than capable of driving myself, right?” Y/n asked him.
“I want you to enjoy yourself tonight and you can’t do that if you’re worried about driving,” Kol told her.
“Kol,” She began.
“We can talk about this when you get here. See you soon, love,” Kol said before hanging up.
Rolling her eyes, Y/n stuffed her phone back into the purse. She watched the city of New Orleans fly by as the driver drove her across the city to Kol’s place. When they finally arrived, Y/n went to open the door, but the driver was already there and opening it for her.
“Mr. Mikaelson is waiting for you at the door,” The driver said as he helped Y/n from the car.
Looking over at the door Kol was just pushing the door open. Smiling, Y/n headed towards him. Kol came over to her and greeted her with a small kiss on the cheek.
“How was the ride over?” Kol asked.
“Just as lovely as if I would have driven myself,” Y/n told him.
Kol laughed. “Love, just let me spoil you,”
Y/n looked up at him. “It’s hard, Kol, I’ve had to work for everything I’ve ever wanted,”
Kol pulled her in closer to his side. “You’re with me now, love. I’m going to spoil you the way you should be,”
Y/n looked at him with wide eyes. “All of this terrifies me, Kol,”
Kol opened the door to his apartment pulling her in with him.
“Why would you be terrified?” Kol asked.
Y/n gave him a look. “It’s you Kol, you’re an original vampire, with a really damn powerful family, and I feel like one wrong move and you’ll rip my throat out,”
Kol kissed Y/n softly.
“I don’t want you to be scared. Especially of me or my family. I really don’t mean you any harm. I like you a lot, Y/n. More than any other human or vampire that I’ve ever been with. I’m drawn to you and I only want the best for you,” Kol explained.
Y/n stood on her tiptoes so she could kiss Kol.
“I’m only asking for some time, Kol,” She said.
Kol nodded. “But just remember I want you to talk to me. Don’t leave me in the dark. If I do or say something that upsets you please let me know,”
“I will, I promise,” Y/n said.
“Good, now come on I’m making you a real treat,” Kol grinned.
Kol dragged Y/n into the kitchen. He pushed her into her seat at the bar before pouring her a glass of wine.
“So what have you cooked for me tonight?” Y/n asked.
“First off, for an appetizer, I have bruschetta and mozzarella, tomato, and basil salad,” Kol said.
“It all looks so good,” Y/n grinned.
The two of them fell into a simple conversation. The more Y/n was around Kol the easier it was for her to open up. She was falling for him and deep down she knew that in the long run that was going to be trouble, but she really didn’t care. There was something about Kol that just made her feel so alive.
Throughout the night, Kol told Y/n stories of his life. She always found it so fascinating when he could tell her stories from long before her own time. He even told her about the times he fought with his older brother Klaus and how Klaus would dagger him to keep him asleep for years at a time. That always broke her heart whenever he would tell her things like that.
Even though, now things seemed to be better with his siblings, Y/n could tell that Kol still held resentment towards Klaus. And he had every right to be. When Y/n found out that his brother Elijah and his sister Freya caused the death of his last girlfriend, Davina, Y/n’s heart raced.
“Have no fear, love, they will never lay a hand on you,” Kol informed you.
“Not to be brash, but you couldn’t even save Davina, how could this time be different?” Y/n asked.
Kol leaned over his glass of wine, wrapping his hand around the back of her neck to pull her in close.
“This time my love isn’t going to be my weakness,” He whispered before taking her mouth with his.
She could taste the wine on his lips as he deepened the kiss. A sudden knock on the door had Kol pulling away with a curse.
“Who could that be?” Y/n asked in a hushed tone.
“My annoying sister Rebekah,” Kol growled as he flew to the door to answer it.
“Hello baby brother,” Rebekah grinned.
“What are you doing here Beks?” Kol hissed.
“We’ve all been dying to meet your mystery lady. I thought I’d be the first one to introduce myself,” Rebekah said trying to walk past her brother.
Kol kept the door blocked.
“This isn’t going to be another Davina situation, Beks. You’ll meet her when I want you to meet her,” Kol explained.
Y/n slid off the stool. It was taking an awfully long time.
“Kol?” Y/n called out as she walked towards the door.
“Do not come any closer, Y/n. I will be right there,” Kol said.
“Okay,” Y/n said freezing her spot.
Rebekah looked up at her brother.
“You can’t keep her hidden from us forever, Kol,” Rebekah said.
“I know that, but bug off. It’s date night,” Kol growled.
Rebekah smiled. “So my baby brother is smitten and domesticated,”
Kol pushed at her. “Go Rebekah and don’t come back tonight,”
Rebekah flicked her hair over her shoulder. Kol narrowed his eyes at her.
“Fine, but just know Kol that Klaus is very determined to meet her,” Rebekah warned before dashing off.
Swearing, Kol slammed the front door before punching the wall next to it. Y/n came around the corner.
“Kol?” She whispered.
Kol looked back at her.
“Sorry, love don’t be afraid,” Kol replied.
“I’m not, but are you okay?” Y/n asked.
“Actually, love, I’m not,” Kol admitted.
“Do you need me to go?” Y/n asked him.
Kol turned to face her.
“No, I need you stay. Stay the night with me, please,” Kol pleaded.
Y/n bit her bottom lip. She wasn’t sure if she was ready for that.
“I’m not asking to ravage you. We’ll just cuddle and sleep,” Kol reassured her.
“Okay, Kol, I’ll stay,” Y/n finally gave in after a few minutes of silence.
Kol exhaled.
“But Kol I don’t have any pajamas or a toothbrush,” Y/n trailed off.
“You can borrow a set of mine and I have a spare toothbrush,” Kol said.
Kol came over to her and took her hand in his. He pulled her along behind him to his bedroom. He pushed her towards the bed where she took a seat. Kol pulled out a pair of black sweatpants and a deep red shirt.
“Change into these and in the left top drawer should be a new toothbrush,” Kol said.
Taking the pajamas, Y/n disappeared into the bathroom. Kol pulled out his phone and went to the group text message.
To: The Original Idiots
One more person tries to spy on Y/n and I’ll have your heads.
-Kol
Don’t be over-dramatic dear brother.
-Klaus
I mean it I’ll rip them off myself.
-Kol
We only want to meet her.
-Elijah
So you can kill her like the last one?
-Kol
Kol, you’re going to have to eventually forgive us for that mistake.
-Freya
Never.
-Kol
You know Klaus won’t stop until we meet her.
-Rebekah
You will when I decide the time is right.
-Kol
It better be sooner rather than later
-Klaus
I hate you all.
-Kol
Love you too.
-Freya
Throwing his phone onto his nightstand Kol looked up when the bathroom door opened and Y/n finally emerged. His sweatpants hung loosely off her hips and she looked delectable in his red shirt.
“Ready for bed, love?” Kol asked.
She nodded.
“Go on and get comfortable while I get around,” Kol said leaving her alone.
Nervously, Y/n crawled into Kol’s massive bed. She slid under the covers and turned onto her side so she was facing the huge windows in his room. A few minutes went by before Kol returned. He was wearing plaid pajama bottoms with no shirt.
“Was the no shirt necessary?” She teased.
Kol grinned. “I’m hot,”
Y/n rolled her eyes before turning away from him again. Kol killed the lights before sliding into the bed behind her. She didn’t put up a fight when he slid right up to her and wrapped his arms around her pulling her in close. He pressed a kiss to her neck.
“When you sleep do you look dead?” Y/n asked.
Kol let out a hearty laugh.
“No, I look like I’m sleeping,” Kol reassured her.
Y/n only nodded. She ran her fingers up and down his arm while she slowly drifted asleep. Kol listened to her breathing slow as he held onto her for dear life.
“I think I love you,” Kol admitted to the darkness and saying those three words didn’t terrify him like he thought they would.

Playing In The Snow
@austennerdita2533 this is your xmas gift...and it is...well...something lol i hope you like this mess xD love you!!
On FF
Playing In The Snow
Caroline was awaken by an odd shiver, and very much like Lorelai from the gilmore girls - yes, she loved that show - she got up in a hurry, almost falling over and went to the window to see if her suspicions proved correct. Opening up the curtains, she saw a floor blanketed with snow and almost screamed excitedly, but then she looked at their bed and Klaus had one eye open staring at her - he was so grumpy, geez.
Jumping on the bed, - softly, kind of - Caroline peppered his face with gentle kisses, ending on his lips, and taking her time to wake him up in a nicer way, “Come play with me.”
Pulling her into the bed, Klaus hugged her close, “I’ll play with you right here, no need to get wet or cold.”
“No, we’d get hot and wet, which I sometimes prefer but not now. Stay in bed, I don’t care. I’m going.” Caroline joked, giving him one last loving kiss, and putting on more layers of clothes so she could play in the snow as her heart desired. While Klaus stayed in the warmth of their bed, still thinking if he should join her or not, he ended up falling asleep quickly.
It was an important decision. Very important. Should she begin with making a snowman or a snow angel? She couldn’t have a snow fight - yet - so that was out of the cards. Snowman or snow angel. Snowman. Snow angel. Snowm- who was she kidding? Bracing herself she threw herself on the floor - it was so cold but she was too happy to care - and made the best damn snow angel to ever exist. Getting up, she started molding her cool snowman, a smile on her face and her hands frozen.
Suddenly a ball of snow hit the back of her head, and she fell on her face, a familiar snicker coming from behind her, “I can’t believe you didn’t call me, darling. I’m hurt, deeply.”
Scooping snow, she made her ball as hard as she could, and as she got up threw it at him, “I knew I wouldn’t have to, you’d show up on your own eventually. You’re freaky like that.”
“Yes, I am.” he winked at her, cleaning up the snow from his hair.
“Kol. Gross.”
“So, where’s your knight in shining armor?”
“I have one?”
“Fair enough. I’m guessing he’s still in bed, am I right?”
“Yup. Isn’t he so much fun?”
“Caroline, I’m here, do you really need any more fun?”
“If you put it like that, I think you’re usually a bit too much fun.”
“There’s really no such thing, you’ll learn with time.”
“Sure, oh ancient one, please bless me with your amazing knowledge.” she said sarcastically.
“Ok, first of all, the base of your snowman is atrocious, and mine will defeat yours in a grand battle.”
“You’re on bitch, come at me bro.”
“I like that intensity, but please don’t ever call me that.”
“Bitch?”
“No, I’m fairly fond of that word, I meant bro.”
“Well I’m gonna beat your ass, and serve it for dinner.”
“You want to eat my ass? You only need ask.”
“I...now will stop the trash talk, thanks for ruining that for me, forever.”
“You’re welcome.”
XXX
It didn’t matter who won, - she did, she totally did and Kol had destroyed her masterpiece in petty revenge, and Caroline would get him back someway, somehow - because now she was freezing, and after kicking Kol out of their property, she went inside prepared to warm herself up. The fireplace in the living room was on, and Klaus was next to it, stoking the fire, and looking damn hot doing it.
“Enjoyed yourself, love?”
“I could’ve enjoyed it more with you…”
“As if you needed me there, when you were with Kol.”
“I was going to say jealousy doesn’t suit you, but it does and I like it.”
“I’m not jealous of my younger brother.”
“Not even a little bit?”
Staring at her unamused he sighed, “Perhaps a tiny, miniscule, bit.”
“Yeah, I knew that. But guess what? Kol isn’t invited to warming me up, and you are. I’m going up, taking a hot, scalding shower, and you’re welcome to join me...or not. It’s your choice. It always is.”
Klaus would rather warm her cold body, than play with her in the snow, but next time he’d definitely do both. While lost in his thoughts, he heard the water being turned on, and basically ran up the stairs. It was about to become a really long shower.

Yes!! How about one where Klaus introduces Caroline to Hope for the first time. Or a Hayley and Caroline bonding one and Klaus being creeped out about it lol! :)
This prompt was from when I asked for mini ones two weeks ago.It works for klarolineinfinity so I thought I’d finish it up! I *think* it was a reply and not an ask but it’s not in my notifications anymore and I’m sorry but I forgot to copy the prompter with the prompt! Warning: borrows HEAVILY from the various spoilers floating around so don’t read it you don’t know them!
Friends and Enemies
Caroline’s only half paying attention to the contract in front of her – she and this witch have been going back and forth over her employment terms for weeks but it looks like they’ve finally come to an agreement – her hearing carefully tuned to what’s going on around her. The twins are sprawled on a rug with Hope, deep in an intense game of Candyland (the Disney Princess edition). Josie tends to ascribe to a win at all costs mentality and has been known to be a little underhanded. Caroline might be able to relate (anyone who’s ever played a board game with her knows she’s a pro at trash talk) but she’s trying to encourage a little sportsmanship.
If only because tiny tempers sometimes boiled over and became big magical accidents. Hope was a sweet kid but new to the whole socialization thing. Plus, none of her relatives were what could even charitably be called even tempered (save perhaps Freya – Klaus had explained the sister popping up from the dead but Caroline had only met her once in passing) or well-adjusted so the fact that Hope even tried to rein herself in was something of a miracle.
Nevertheless, the three of them had all sorts of power at their disposal and Caroline would rather not have her office bear the brunt of the damage they’d cause if a squabble escalated. Not when it had taken months to get everything renovated and just how she liked it.
The furnishings for the office wing had all come with the property and considering the property was Klaus’ Caroline was sure the rug cost a pretty penny. The hardwood floors of her office were also original, and gorgeous once they’d been painstakingly restored, singeing them would be a crime.
She’s also listening because she’s expecting Klaus to show up any sometime soon. She’s got a pencil shoved into her hair, keeping it off her face, and that’s not a look she wants him to see. She’d treated herself to a wardrobe upgrade when they’d first moved to New Orleans rationalizing that a move to a big city, finally, was the perfect occasion to update her style a little. Alaric had raised an eyebrow at the pile of bags he’d watched her unload from the car but thankfully had kept his mouth shut. She’d had a rationale all prepared – the climate was different – but she’d been glad it hadn’t been necessary. Alaric could read her alarmingly well these days and she had no desire to examine the reasons why she’d been determined to look her best.
They’d slapped her in the face easily enough on the first day of the term in September.
Because while Klaus hadn’t commented on her attire either the frank appreciation in his eyes as he’d taken in her sleek grey dress and black leather pumps that first morning had said volumes.
The answering twinge of satisfaction she’d felt had let Caroline know that all the claims she’d made about not wanting to consider a romantic relationship right now, that she was far too busy and still getting used to a whole new life to open up that can of worms, might have been more bluster than truth.
Klaus hadn’t pressed the issue, not overtly anyway. But Hope staying behind, in Caroline’s care, for an hour or two after school let out was not uncommon. She was unsure of how much of the urgent business Klaus claimed to have was legitimate because he seemed to have no problem lingering over the dinner he usually brought with him (Caroline was pretty sure he was systematically making his way through the best restaurants in New Orleans and that he was probably compelling or bribing some of them into providing kid friendly options).
He’d promised her food was one of New Orleans’ best attributes, once upon a time, and he was certainly not wrong about that.
She perks up when she hears footsteps, but only for a moment before she grows wary.
That’s not Klaus’ tread, it’s lighter and not as smooth, not belonging to any of Caroline’s few friends and acquaintances. She pushes away from her desk, palming her silver letter opener as she rounds it, to stand between the door and the girls. The building’s the school operates on are all spelled. Each of the nine local covens had contributed and Caroline had asked Bonnie to do so as well on one of her visits.
Turns out that knowing an all powerful badass witch who could pop between dimensions was super handy.
Someone with bad intentions shouldn’t make it very far but Caroline knew that magic was rarely foolproof, and she’d been burned before. She keeps her posture relaxed so she doesn’t alarm the kids (Lizzie’s remarkably empathetic) but eyes the door suspiciously.
She’s gotten her hands dirty to protect the girls before. She’d do it again in a heartbeat.
There’s a brief knock before the door turns and Caroline’s momentarily relieved at the familiar head that pops through the door.
Only momentarily.
Caroline was a master grudge holder and Hayley Marshall wasn’t currently one of her favorite people. Caroline could grudgingly admit that it seemed as if she’d do anything for Hope, and she’d heard a few brief stories that made it seem like Hayley’s life post Mystic Falls hadn’t been a cake walk, but Caroline remains guarded.
A snapped neck and betrayal will do that to a girl.
Still, she could be polite. It was technically her job. She pastes on a smile and shifts to the side, tossing the letter opener back on the desk. Hayley watches her de-arm with a raised eyebrow, and maybe a brief flash of respect. “Hey, I guess you’re on pickup duty?”
The girls have barely glanced up, to intent on their game.
Hayley takes a tentative step further in, “Yeah, Elijah texted me. He and Klaus are trying to collect Kol but not having a ton of luck. I’m not sure about the details but I’m sure Klaus will fill you in. You guys have to talk about something when you have your casual dinners, right? I’m supposed to, ‘Convey Niklaus’ deepest apologies for his tardiness and thank Ms. Forbes for her understanding.’”
Caroline blinks for a moment, finds she wants to smile a bit at Hayley’s deeply pompous inflection, “Uh, okay.”
“I’m sure Klaus will make it up to you,” Hayley says, a hint of a smirk on her lips.
Yeah, Caroline was so not willing to go there. She missed quality girl talk but not that badly. “Well, he gave me a house to run the school in so I figure I’m the one who owes him.”
Hayley’s snort is incredulous, “Oh, please. He would have given you ten houses to get you here. He was pissy that you insisted on fixing up the outbuildings and living on the grounds instead of somewhere nicer. Was a real bitch to live with that week, let me tell you.”
They hear a tiny gasp and Caroline glances behind them. Lizzie and Josie are looking a little wide eyed. Hayley looks chagrined, “Whoops, sorry. Language.”
Caroline waves that away, “Don’t worry about it.”
Hope’s bounced up to her feet, “Mom, hi!”
Hayley runs a hand through Hope’s hair, her face softening, “Get your things, okay?”
Lizzie and Josie help and soon Hope’s got her schoolbooks crammed into her backpack, shoes and jacket on. They’re just beginning to say their goodbyes (drawn out since it was a weekend, basically forever to a pair of 5 year olds and a 7 year old) when Caroline hears the familiar noise that Bonnie makes when she propels herself through dimensions. It’s sort of a weird cracking, and while Caroline’s used to it, welcomes it even, Hayley goes rigid, shoving Hope behind her, her fangs dropping. Caroline throws herself in front of Hayley before she can think to lunge – Bonnie can take care of herself but Caroline doesn’t want to clean up blood any more than she wants to deal with fire. “It’s fine!” she rushes out, shoving Hayley back slightly. “You remember my friend Bonnie, right? She poofs in sometimes. It’s a long story.”
“Poofs?” Hayley asks, still eyeing Bonnie like she’s a threat. “Since when do witches poof?”
“She’s not just a witch. Not anymore. It’s complicated but she’s kind of like the devil? Only nice. Well, nice-ish.
“Thanks, Care,” Bonnie says dryly.
Caroline ignores her, “And she doesn’t eat souls. She brings them to her happy little paradise place totally toll free.”
“Are you high?”
Caroline huffs out an offended breath, “Yeah, I get high in front of my children. That’s how I roll. Doesn’t Klaus tell you anything?”
Hayley shrugs, “We don’t do heart to hearts.”
Hope peeks out from behind Hayley’s back, makes an annoyed face when she doesn’t get far before Hayley blocks her, “It’s true, Mom. Miss Bennett teaches us sometimes.”
Josie and Lizzie have wandered over and wrapped themselves around Bonnie’s legs, “Yeah, Aunt Bon’s the best,” Lizzie tells Hayley.
“You can ask Klaus,” Caroline tells her. “Seriously. I’ve explained how everything went down.”
“Have you?” Bonnie asks, sounding speculative, “What happened to, ‘I’m not moving to New Orleans for Klaus?’ Have you been taking long walks in the woods? Discussing the best methods of tree removal, maybe?”
Caroline glares, the innuendo not lost on her even if it probably is on everyone else in the room. She’d gotten a little drunk and a lot overshare-y once and Bonnie had never let her forget it. She waves her hands, nods over to her paper strewn desk, “Um, hello. Look around. I do plenty here. Wrangling three dozen kids of various supernatural backgrounds and half a dozen staff isn’t easy, FYI.”
“Mmm, yeah,” Hayley interjects slyly, “You work very hard. Must be why Klaus takes it upon himself to bring you dinner every night.”
“It’s not every night,” Caroline denies, wincing as her voice rises in pitch. That wasn’t going to make them believe her.
Hayley glances over at Bonnie, “She won’t agree to anything else. Klaus thinks he’s being sneaky.”
Bonnie’s eyebrows have steadily crept up and Caroline knows she’s got some explaining to do. Ugh, good thing it was Alaric’s weekend to have the girls. She’d totally need booze to withstand this interrogation. “Thanks so much, Hayley,” Caroline manages, her tone dripping with faux sweetness, “for all your help.”
Hayley seems unbothered. “No problem. Klaus usually goes to the bar on Fridays, in case you were wondering. You know the one.”
Caroline grits her teeth to refrain from spitting out that she had known that. Klaus had mentioned it, his not so innocent assertion that they stocked an excellent selection of champagnes less than subtle. Hayley ushers Hope out the door, the girl waving at the twins once more before she departs.
Caroline turns from Bonnie, knowing she can only stall so long, clapping her hands together, “Alright! Girls, put the game away, please. Make sure you get all the pieces because I am sure you’ll want to play it this weekend.”
The scurry to collect the various parts, stowing them carefully under Caroline’s watchful gaze. “Do you have wine?” Bonnie asks lowly. “Because we’re going to need it. I can poof somewhere and get some?”
“I do. And bourbon,” Caroline answers. “But maybe get the things for cookie dough?” Sugar always made awkward conversations better, in her opinion.
“On it,” Bonnie murmurs, and soon she’s gone again.
The girls look up, faces etched in disappointment. Caroline smiles warmly, “Aunt Bonnie will be back in a bit, babies. You’ll see her later, promise.”
It would be a momentary distraction for Bonnie, Caroline knew, and she’d have all sorts of questions about Klaus and what Caroline was doing (or considering doing) about him.
Caroline wasn’t sure that Bonnie would like the answers but that was okay. Caroline knew that Bonnie trusted her to make her own decisions, even if she thought they were mistakes. Bonnie hadn’t been thrilled to go to Caroline’s ill-fated wedding a few years back but in the end she’d shown up. It was just the two of them now, Stefan and Elena and Matt all living human lives, Damon in the wind and so many others long gone. They’d figure it out.
Back then Caroline had been clinging to her human dreams, had them in a death grip because she’d felt them slipping away. It’s different now, she’s different now, learning more and more about the supernatural world became a necessity when she and Alaric had opened the school and it’s no longer foreign and scary but filled with possibilities.
Possibilities had been what Klaus had offered her, years and years ago, and Caroline thought she might be nearly ready to explore a few of them.
Maybe she’d drag Bonnie out for drinks once Josie and Lizzie were safely with Alaric. And if they happened to run into some familiar faces what’s the worst that could happen? Bonnie and Klaus were both pretty much un-killable and Klaus could afford to cover any and all property damage.
As long as it wasn’t her office Caroline could deal.

Do I know you nonnie, maybe? Pretty sure you know me toowell with that prompt. Hope you like it and so sorry for the delay : )
Diplomacy 101
July 1….London
“You could have been a little nicer, Niklaus,” Rebekahhuffed.
“I was pleasant enough, sister,” he said dismissively asthey made their way through the expansive hallway at 10 Downing Street. “Why doI always feel like you’re never grown up with all of this nagging?”
“After the display you just put on in the back garden, I thinkyou shouldn’t be questioning my maturity. You’re the bloody Prime Minister andit’s my job as both your press secretary and suffering sister to tell you when you’rebeing an ass.”
Klaus rolled his eyes wondering whatever made him decide tohire her in such a senior position in his administration. He decided to blameit on the wave of elation he felt after winning the election two years earlier.
“What did I do that was so wrong? I was perfectly civil withthe Ambassador, which quite frankly she doesn’t deserve.”
“You were curt at best,” she shot back. “You’re stillannoyed about her winning that impromptu debate at the Lord Mayor’s receptionthe other week.”
“I didn’t lose anything,” he growled. “I was just doing theright thing by letting her win, it’s called diplomacy 101, Rebekah.”
“Please don’t ever utter that phrase again and I’d refrainfrom ever telling the Foreign Secretary that you used it in the first place.”
“Being Prime Minister…”
“Oh please, if I have to hear another sentence beginningwith those three words I might suffocate you with them. You were rude to MsForbes because she outsmarted you, end of story. All we can hope is that yourmanners improve by the fourth.”
“What’s on the fourth?”
“The big Independence Day Gala at the American Embassy, hence the date,” hisExecutive Assistant, Lexi, interrupted from a nearby room falling in stepbeside them. “I’ve had your best Armani Tuxedo cleaned for the occasion, Sir.”
Lexi had worked for him since he was a councillor in ruralEngland and she was as efficient as she was brutally honest.
“Must I go?”
“Sounds like someone’s still annoyed about being schooled bythe Ambassador,” she sing-songed.
“You have no idea, Lexi, he was so rude to her at morningtea.”
“Don’t you two know by now that…”
“You’re the Prime Minister?” A male voice interrupted, obviously bored. “Between you and me, there’s only so much vanity I can spare before lunch.”
“Says my head of security who should be more concerned about my safety than his next meal,” he growled thinking about his error in not employing one family member but two. “How much do I pay you again?”
“Not nearly enough, Your Majesty,” he muttered sarcastically, swiping the chart from Lexi. “You supposedly hated Olivia in the third grade, even muddied her dress, but we all knew you loved her.”
“Excuse me? She told me I was stupid.”
“Exactly, Nik. History repeating itself, dumb ass. Looks like I’m going to need to do a full security detail for the event at the American Embassy and will need to be there on hand, just in case.”
“In case of what exactly? We may have our differences but generally Uncle Sam is still our friend in this part of the world, Kol.”
“Speak for yourself, your dignity and that prawn entree is just too good to ignore, Niklaus.”
His younger brother was gone before he could object, funnily enough so too his sister and most trusted assistant. The silence was overwhelming, something that never worried him until Caroline Forbes arrived.
Klaus wanted to hate her, so much, but she had this endearing habit of fastening a blonde lock behind her ear tellingly while managing to debate him on most subjects. He was fairly certain he fell in love with her at that moment, even if it was a diplomatic ploy.
What he couldn’t deny was just how brilliant she was and as Prime Minister he wasn’t quite sure how to handle those burgeoning feelings ahead of the July Fourth reception, especially given his staff’s interference.
July 4….
Caroline Forbes considered herself a lady but, at the same time, didn’t take grief from anyone, in fact she was fairly certain her position as the American Ambassador to Britain wasn’t a coincidence. Most people had been wonderful since her arrival in London, but there was a prickly someone who wasn’t quite so excited by her arrival.
Klaus Mikaelson was the Prime Minister but he was also an asshole whose ego was the size of Europe and beyond and hated being wrong. Unfortunately, the US frowned upon their Ambassadors causing an international incident due to knee injuries and verbal spats so she was stuck in the whole diplomacy 101 merry-go-round.
She decided to make the best of a bad situation by dressing in her favourite red gown, her blonde waves falling over her shoulders effortlessly. His dark, blue eyes hungrily sought out hers as she made her way into the ballroom.
He held out his arm, a supposedly simple gesture between two countries in waltz format but Caroline was resisting every urge to rip his tuxedo off. Bastard.
“I was an ass,” he began as they moved across the dance floor, startling her slightly. “I’m sorry, I have this tendency of becoming defensive when I like someone.”
“Did you have a brain transplant since we last met?” She murmured through pursed lips, knowing they were being watched.
“My sister, brother and assistant were hoping, but there’s only so many hours in the day, love.”
Did I say you could call me, love? It’s Your Excellency, Mr Prime Minister.”
“I’d rather spend a lot less time on titles and more on…”
“Seriously, Mikaelson?” She growled as he lead her across the floor, her heart beat only increasing with every move. “I’m too smart to be seduced by you.”
“That’s why I like you.” His eyes were fixed on hers as they stopped momentarily. As attracted as she was, Caroline liked to think she wasn’t that easy.
“Between you and me, it’s going to take a lot more effort than that,” she growled, pulling her hand away and losing physical contact.
He seemed surprised but given the way the Prime Minister held her gaze, she knew it was going to be a contest of wills for some time to come. Something both were equally weary and excited about.
