a while back on twitter i livetweeted my process with making my meta knight charm

im kinda going insane so i thought i would do the same thing here on tumblr for the new magolor charm im working on. its a lot of images so theres more + a Lot of general merch making commentary from me under the cut

despite being the easiest to make a concept of, with my very first concept sketch being the one i went with, this drawing has fought me every step of the way. the lor is self explanatory (damn you lor) but i had a lot of trouble with magolors proportions and shapes too. in the end i ended up going for something closer to the second sketch to be closer to magolors canon appearance

the lors oars ended up not being able to be as long as my initial concept sketch. i had them extend so high up for framing and to round out the shape of the charm a bit better. without them the charm ends up being really oddly shaped and unbalanced looking, so i added a vortex in the back to help round out the shape in the middle and on the right side. thats not the only reason i added the vortex though! in order to celebrate rtdldx coming out soon i wanted to make the back alt the new manager magolor outfit. because his hat extends into what would be a clear area on the front side (the gap between the lors window and the sail) i had to put something solid in that area if i wanted the alt side to work seamlessly

related to the physical specs, im planning on printing these on rainbow acrylic for the sole reason of i thought it would look really cool if i made the rainbow tech lines on the lor transparent on my artwork, so that the rainbow acrylics effect would shine through, instead of just painting the rainbow effect on the artwork itself. i went to a convention a few weeks ago and apparently rainbow acrylic and gradient colored acrylic charms are really popular right now, so i got a lot of inspiration from there

gonna be honest just drawing the lor alone has kinda burned me out LMAO. i was planning on making another new charm for this batch too initially, mostly considering marx since ofc those two go really well together as a pair but that design requires me drawing nova which No. second i was considering susie but that requires me not only drawing her mech, but doing it at a difficult perspective. and then theres taranza whos very difficult for me to draw in general and i still have not made any concepts ive liked for him so oops

it probably sounds kinda money grubbing of me to make Two magolor designs right as the rtdl remake is coming out, but hear me out first of all ya boys got deadlines to keep on (my manu has a discount that will expire at the end of this month) and i really wanted at least 2 new designs for this batch (plus i still need to draw up a new sticker design to make for freebies) so i wanted to make something a bit more simple, and if you know me, i fucking love elegant shit with frames and halos and that, so here we are. this will be a wooden pin based off this kirbtober drawing i did, which ive always loved. i had a very specific idea for this pin in mind but wood is apparently a finicky thing to work with by nature, so ill have to see if the specs allow. maybe itll be a colored acrylic pin instead?

might reblog this post in the future if id like to update with more progress. (i love that tumblr allows you to be wordy but Man i miss being able to have unobtrusive threads like twitter)

recap of my thrilling day

i was rly tired DESPITE getting a full 8 hours. sleep is a scam man

got a venti java chip frap at starbucks which i NEVER get and let me tell u. that was the tastiest drink ive ever drunk

one of my managers was like ‘hey do u wanna be a lead’ and i was like......sure??? and she was like ‘cool’ so ig im the head of the toddler and baby department of old navy now

found two packs of socks at the bottom of the return bin at work,,,,,,,one was a halloween pack and the other had strawberries on them,,,,,,,,,,,cost me 5 bucks for both of them and im SO excited cause i put them on hold my entire shift and theyre so CUTE

bought an absurd amount of instant ramen bowls at the grocery store next to the mall cause they’re like 70 cents each and i eat them for lunch at work. i looked insane at the self checkout with my 20 packs of ramen but ya know what its worth it 

bought a nice lap desk for like 14 bucks! i sit in bed a lot so hopefully it motivates me to do more work when im just laying around

also bought a really neat shelf to hang over my new desk area (but i might return it cause it was kinda pricey,,,,,,)

i want to make little handmade thank-you cards for my orders, so i got a bunch of small cardstock papers to fold in half and some fun stamps and stickers :) i think itll be more personal and fun than just writing a thank u note on my usual seagull paper (it might take more time but we’ll see how it goes)

i have so many orders to pack. i have a new studio vlog to film. i have crafts to do. things to draw. and yet i took an hour nap when i got home and probably will go to bed right now cause i got up at like 3 am this morning and i don’t feel like being awake anymore

maggies hot sketchbook tip corner

try to pick out a sketchbook that you think you’ll actually like. maybe even splurge a lil. or not, because then you might be afraid to mess up in the sketchbook if its expensive. if you dont draw a lot or get stressed out maybe get a small one. make sure the paper is good enough for whatever medium you wanna use - for example, watercolor and marker wont really work on basic paper 

find a medium you wanna use!! try a LOT of mediums!!! this is a good way to fill up a book and get practice AND find out what u like. maybe buy just a few basic colors of marker, pencil, or a small watercolor or gouache kit?? i tried a little bit of everything and realize i hate marker and love watercolor

using color makes ur book look so much nicer tbh like. even if you’re just filling in negative space with a highlighter or smth it makes it rlly pop yknow

washi tape and sticking random things you wanna remember (tickets, receipts, etc) is cool too

DECORATE THE COVER OF THAT BAD BOY ITLL MAKE YOU MORE ATTACHED TO IT. that way u cant just throw it out bc wtf you put cute stickers on it 

if you’re stumped for inspiration, try to watch sketchbook tours on youtube. they’re like my favorite way to pass the time now!! there’s so many different artists w different styles and they all approach it in a different way so there’s a lot of cool ideas out there that might inspire you

having OCs or a comfort character to draw really helps move things along

maybe try to set a goal or habit. like, i will draw in my sketchbook every day after school/work for 30 minutes, or maybe, i will finish this sketchbook by the end of next month

its risky but also buying a new tool or supply or whatever to play w can help with the art block

remember your sketchbook is just for you and you dont HAVE to make it presentable. personally for me the idea of sharing it with others makes me want to do better work, but you can be as messy and silly as you want!!! its ur book!!! nobodys entitled to see it but you!!

i dont rlly like them but there’s a lot of ~challenges~ to do on youtube and instagram like. only using 1 marker for one drawing or following certain prompts/themes for a month. those can help too i think??

thats really all i got i just really like to watch sketchbook videos i hope this doesnt make me sound like an entitled asshole or anything im just a kid who likes to draw and people are always like :( my sketchbook is so sad

These are in chronological order; I think I like the ones that people don't seem to vibe with which makes me question my voice a little but anyway:

1:

I don't think I've drawn Isabelle better than this. This was the first time I made something I felt like I'd see someone else make and it just kinda happened too, this proved to me I could do this. I still hope to make this a pin or sticker without the dialogue.

2:

I think this is the best I've drawn Phoebe; and just kinda happened too. This and the Kimmy I drew after are really cool, but I still think the Kimmy one's pants are higher than they should be so I went for this one lol. I'd like to do more fashion drawings but my focus has been elsewhere lately.

3:

SORRY I NEVER FINISHED PAGE 2. I never planned on making this a comic, but I was feeling homesick and made the BG messing around just to kinda practice a landscape. I'm not sure when it popped into my head to make it something, but I'm still kinda enamoured at how well the bottom panel came out (I think that's what intimidated me into making page 2, I've thought a lot about the layout of it but it still feels difficult). Uh this was the first time I think I really applied myself in terms of learning how to speak via art but it isn't perfect.

i went to an art fest today and got 3 prints! 9 stickers! 6 badges! and 1 watercolour commission of sam!! 

my laptop case looks really cool now!!! its got aesthetic stickers but also lgbt puns!! stuff like LGB-tea!!!!!! the stuff i got is all so pretty

I also went to a workshop about making webcomics and i drew a comic about sam!! i had no idea what to draw so i was like.,,..,., SAM,.,..,,.makin,.,.tea. But that felt too surface level so, i got inspiration from a comic i read (eerie crests, read it!) and the mc has hallucinations and see these eyes and creatures that arent there. So i may have sorta had sam see hallucinations.,.,.,, i dunno if itll be canon..,.,.,..,.,it might be,,,..maybe. ill see. :/

Day 79

soooooo i went to bed at 8 am in the morning today. Cause i was on the treadmill. with breaks after 30 mins. for a total of 3hrs. so i started at around 3 am and ended around 7 am almost 5 hours for an actual 3hr workout Oh great! 

oh now i put a sticky note on the webcam thingy on my laptop. Lol now ik for sure why almost everyone at uni puts an ugly sticker on it. cause someone might hack into it and stuff. saw it in mr robot. 

oh yesterday we went to a mall and dad had to park and come later after we already entered the mall. so when he was entering he saw some lady lying on the floor having a nose bleed i think. anyways so later in the car he was talking about it and telling how when he saw that he was almost about to call me and then he saw that the ladys like surrounded by more than enough people so theres no need to but then he was like i came to his mind right away. idk what he thinks about me but im sure i havent thought as much about myself for sure lol. hmph. But i wish to live up to his expectations one day inshaAllah. 

so my doctor has been telling me for months now, and once again from my most recent lab investigations results i am supposedly having a very bad bacterial infection. And i have no idea where the hell it is :) so i have to go to the hospital agaaaaaaain to see a nephrologist or urologist after doing an urine culture & bleh not looking forward to it but gta go. maybe tomorrow 

so my mom is really cool. i mean she knows so much about medicine. ‘clinical stuff’. A lot of it. Tbh she knows more than me. ever since year 2 and 3, whenever i find out some interesting clinical management i always ask her about it only with the intention of telling her about it once she didnt know the answer WHICH i only assumed everytime. She mostly answers them right and on top of that i end up learning a thing or two from her esp the medicine names cause like in med school they dont teach us the brand name but the generic name. she knows a lot of brand names too. i mean shes just awesome mashAllah.  Anyways so why im mentioning all these is cause, she freaks out every time my results are out and the doctor goes like i have a bacterial infection. So from urine analysis. Normal level of ‘pus cells’ should be ZERO to 4. Even SIX pus cells means infection and i have like around 26 Pus Cells. Oh Holy

So after hearing that mom who id expect to not say silly things comes up with all weird theories Ughh! she tells about how im so dirty and i dont wash my water flask so it has lipstick stains on it and maybe thats where i got infected from “-” AND once i laughed it off she suggests maybe its from all the ‘burgers’ i eat from outside “-” “-” and how the fast food chains dont maintain hygiene and all Ughh. 

Btw ik my posts are usually really long and all but then its actually funny sometimes. I mean i hardly write anything. There is just SOOOO much stuck in me. i mean you can say i write 1% of it. And if you think im just bluffing, ill raise it to a 3%. But if i say i write even 10% of whats in my head then Ill call myself a liar! See, the thing is. I dont like talking to anyone about these. “except” for him. And that is because i ‘chose’ to. Like its not that i dont have people to talk to, more like i dont even need people to talk to. Cause i dont want to. Its just me ‘wanting’ to open up to him. to trust him. to let him be a part of my life. What im trying to say is. The reason i have so much stuck in me is not because i cant talk to anyone but more like i dont want to. And theres just one person I want to talk to with. Other than that, I find more comfort in my own company rather compared to anyone elses tbh. 

Now i remember in one of my post i was talking about our last conv where he told me to wait for him and he’ll come for me one day inshaAllah and i was talking about idk how much i can do with regards to that to make things easier for us! Idk i think theres more to what i can do. I keep thinking about it and, i believe that i need to be stable and successful enough too. And not just simply stable financially but like, I need to be at good place. A marriage is a two person thing and you always need to lift each other up as much as you can.

One way or the other, this thing always just slips whenever i sit to blog but it entered my head and scared the shit out of me quite a few days ago. So i was thinking of us, life.. Btw when i say ‘life’ it still means ‘us’. Its the same god damn thing “-” Aha! So i was thinking about us, and how times passing by. i really cant say if its going fast or slow. so no comments. i honestly dont know! BUT i feel like there is so much to come yet. i mean.. and then i was thinking.. i mean some day itll be the 100th day. cool And then months will pass. AND suddenly it hit me! NOW if theres some month i really wna skip, like s.k.i.p. like God, can you like pause my life or like fast forward it to the next month or something please? THEN, that would be January! Yesssss. Like, i totally have no. freakin. idea. how ill spend that month. Im like -blank- Like idk how ill be breathing in peace. its that much of a killer for me. im not even exaggerating, idk if it sounds stupid but then maybe i am stupid Ugh. But like honestly, im more okay with feb, than i am with jan. i really have no idea what ill do or how ill pass the time :) 

Ill talk more about it prolly tomorrow. but enough for today i guess!

i need more money to buy little art

honestly tho feeling like for that ideal goal existence i’ll try get to someday, i’ll needa be making proper money comfortable and good so i can spend all i like on society 6 and other to buy shirts and bags and just everything to a house all in different art prints (mostly florals) bc just those pictures are  like everything i want but just so expensive. i’m trying to sum down like 10 to stickers, bc i wanna do up my laptop, but dedicating to a single decal (thats like 25 ON SALE) is too much esp since i love so much. so ive kinda decided to get a hard cover for the laptop just in case i break it, and just in case i do break my laptop that i can keep the stickers on the hard case and dont lose them to replaced parts. idk seems smart. ill probs buy a kinda shady cover off of ebay for 5 or 6 pound and then spend 20 on stickers for it :] since theyre on sale till 8 am today and its 3 am im probs just gonna settle and order them. might order cover tomorrow w my dad bc i need trust assurance. hes not all on board on the stickers so im just gonna go for it. theyre gonna be like my post cards. i buy so many every place. and no. not trashy postcards. i want art. i have so many postcards of paintings in galleries and so many from comic con art valleys (guess who wants to get so much more and 100% will) i love original art the most when its pretty to me and like everyone who sees it. simples okay but i prefer soft and detailed. excited now i can go to con and also be looking for stickers bc maybe ill get a few cool ones that wont cost me as much as the society 6 ones do. and then my laptop can replicate my walls, displaying all the art ive loved that ive been able to take with me (bc theres so much i obviously dont have on my walls) anyway im looking at these and making some small bc i suddenly realise this laptops got realestate. and the saddest thing w stickers (literally why i had one of those waxy paged sticker books as a child) is that i cant dedicate stickers to a single spot. its so much dedication. what if i buy a bigger sticker and it wont fit? what if i get the perfect sticker for that spot and it wont fit? (over lap i guess) how can i be sure i put them in the right spots to start with? augh i dont really wanna cover just half of it and obviously leave space bc that puts pressure on finding stickers and i might get ones i dont love. i cant get sick of any one bc itll be there  (joy of having multiple mean theres less getting sick of anything). anyway i think im happy w the sizes of these 10 stickers and can work w them (also for now i think im just gonna be going around the edges and leaving the apple logo as it is, esp bc it glows and theres already this shitty old smiley face sticker from my old psych teacher and i kinda dont wanna get rid of it, i just wanna add things around it so it doesnt look so: clean (actually dirty) laptop that a child marked as their own) 

anyway society 6 has random discounts all the time which is p rad and maybe the day im ready to invest in my own living space and dont feel obliged to check w my parents about just about any purchase, i’ll then subscribe to something thatll tell me what discount is on. that in mind, i think i’ll only get the 9 now, that hopefully wont cost too much, and leave a bunch in my wishlist, bc there’ll be another discount (this is 20% off everything)  and maybe that’ll be like 50% off stickers and boy then when my collection is underway you bet ill go for it. and like maxx sticks on their sketch book, if i dedicate to a new book maybe ill get more for that and have a pretty thing to keep and reminisce over (tho knowing me, ill not use it much bc i have a need for pretty things to stay perfect and presentable, and i have a need for everything that i might show to others to be like near perfect otherwise its sucks and ill feel bad bc i dont wanna show it off to people. like my art book, sure i couldve made it all experimental and crap and then edited the real pages together on the computer. but no. i needed everypage to be presentable and pretty and handwritten and creative. and they must go page after page, its so awkward showing someone something and then going “oh wait now these few are empty sorry yeah heres the next page” so i baasically have  a book with mhmmm 20-26 pages of beautiful spreads that im quite proud of inside beautiful covers ( i knew id want to be presenting it for years to come) and the back pages are just...empty. and theyll probably stay that way bc i no longer have projects to be doing to fill them with. maybe one day ill grow into myself and grow out the fear of ruining what ive achieved and fill some with new projects to please myself and be an indepenednt artist not just a teacher pleaser. you know its like that with my work too, like it has to have a direction and a plan that will be achieved, and its terribly frustrating when that vision doesnt happen. but i think thats the same with everyone. 

anyway on a side note, dont you guys think its so fun and cool how ive not done my post labs that were due last friday? how every night ends up being 3-4 am until i go... mhmmmm yeah i guess nothing is happening. like i hope id bloom and do work at that 11pm-3am window and then i get here, suddenly having lost all track and sense of time and just sigh. its wasted, its basically tuesday already. have to keep telling myself dates bc it moves so weird. i planned on getting shit done two days ago. here we are regardless. and the most ill get done is get those stickers ordered bc that is i guess what ive been half focused on for mhmmm5 hrs. then ill save my 7 dollars or whatever, have stickers on the way, tomorrow order the case and thats one insignificant thing done. then the question will be have i looked at summer jobs? no of course not ive looked at ballet courses. shush. i havent showered for days bc theyve just slipped by too laying in bed, maybe tomorrow ill take a shower and pick up all the trash and tissues on the ground. maybe i will. i know i wont get real work done tonight, and already ill be sleepy till 1 pm and by then mom will be again on me abt sleeping to latesoo... yeah no point. and here i thought id make a quick totes relatable short post about how i need more money to buy stickers and maybe a brief my ideal life is to have enough money to spend on art being in every part of my life and all this  being unique so people love coming to my house and go wow its so original and cool. and that turned into a word vent thats so far taken me over half an hour. hi my batterys dying. 

lng story short, i’ll order the stickers currently in my basket after so much though, suck it up and do it and know that i have a bunch over in my wishlist for that next maybe even better sale when it happens. the only thing is im taking all the rest as transparent which for sure dulls them down (yeah white background looks sick but for some its just more classy w transparent, then theres this one bear i’m 100% naming wojtek thats in white bc i feel it’ll be best for him, and i guess having him in white will set that theres no clear rules to follow and worst case if it doesnt fit he can come chill on the keyboard side next to my mouse pad thing) honestly i cant tell if i should be getting them all in white and just hope that theyll look gorgeous no matter what. yikes 3 dollar shipping for stickers, ok itll actually be 19.62 pound and using euro card 22.50 in  euros.... am i dumb? maybe. and tho im supposed to be saving money up so i have some, i also did get birthday money sorta recently soo... birthday gift from them. first set of stickers. deep breaths ok. my parents told me when i bugged them that i just have to make a decision and not ask them all the time, and he said to get 3 stickers i told him id pick 12 so i think getting 9 is reasonable. also oh shit realising that the delivery time is 1-3 weeks and im staying here only 1 and a half more so i should really order it to scotland even tho it might get ther ebefore i do bc my parents might not rly want to send them up to me. idk ok order to scotland, thank f at least one of my flat mates is staying and tbh i should really bring her some chocolate... shes done me faavours.
