Yuma with bad memory issues is so good (for us not for him), it gives us a lot of angst bit also a lot of comfort. For example:
Yuma starting to forget a shit ton of things and getting so frustrated about it that he starts crying and throwing things but then the rest of the Mukami's come there all really worried about him, but personally, I like to think this frustrates him even further not because of having to be vurnerable in front of them, but because he can't remember their names either. Now the Mukami's have a sad and a really frustrated Yuma to deal with but we all know hugs make everything better (right?) so Azusa just runs to him and hugs him:D After a few seconds the others join them and now it's a big comforting Mukami cuddle pile (Yay). And maybe after this they might get a lil bit more protective over Yuma than they were before, because if anyone want's to mess with their brother when he can barely remember his own name, they will have hell to pay>:(. Idk what is it about this but Yuma getting comforted by his brothers is just the best thing ever.
Also a scenario like this but with Shu would be really good because we would get angst with that aswell (maybe even a bit more?), since I think it would hurt Shu a lot more when Yuma forget's his name, to him it could start feeling like he's losing Yuma again. Which is sad but also gives us those nice moments of Shu really doing his best to make him feel better (of course he always tries his best when Yuma is involved but now he also strongly show's it) which would really make Yuma feel better and if the Mukami's were close by it could also show them that Shu actually isn't all lazy and he really does treat Yuma well (maybe this could even built up the trust between the Mukami's and Shu a bit?)
aghhh anon it's such a sweet spot for me!! I love this topic so much, everything in this ask is soooo <3
it's gotta be really stressful, yknow?? I imagine yuma being continuously asked "do you know who I am?" and he starts getting defensive, like he's being tested with every conversation he has, and if he answers incorrectly then the other person might be upset with him. I feel like he'd get sick and tired of it, and maybe even lash out and avoid people so he won't be in these situations anymore. but no regular contact with people he knows = he's more likely to forget them. a vicious cycle!! :'0 but imagining he and the mukamis working this out together is so wonderful to me. I never get tired of it. (I should publish some stuff about it sometime gsdhsfh)
I TOTALLY agree with what u said about shu doing his best to make him feel better!! this is a really complicated thing for shu. on one hand, he might think that yuma would be better off if he completely forgot about him (because he's shu, and he loves torturing himself like this lol). but this is something about shu that always touches my heart: no matter how much he tries to cut himself off from yuma, if he sees yuma suffering, he can't resist going back to help him. plus, yknow, I think shu tends to be overly-considerate of yuma—in canon this is something yuma doesnt like, but in this scenario it might work out. I'd love it if, while yuma is acting tough with everyone else, he felt like he could relax around shu a little more and accept his help. (is that wishful thinking? maybe, but I like it....!!)

it’s that anona saying they want this fandom to be BL when 1) majority of the cast is related to each other 2) the rest hate each other enough to commit homicide ✋🏽😭 like pack it up sweetheart just accept that you hate yumejoshi and go, you dont need to drag in BL as your excuse for attacking people just having fun 😂😂😂
Exactly. I have no problem with BL ships that make sense but it's so difficult to ship DL characters because there's just like...no chemistry between them in a romantic way lol.
For example, I love Ayato and Laito's interactions as brothers, but obviously I would never ship them romantically since they're related. Same with Subaru/Laito interactions.
The only BL ship I could maybe get behind is Shuu x Yuma but Shuu has explicitedly stated that he does not feel romantically or sexually attracted to males in one of his MMB Tokuten CDs so... ^^;; Like go ahead and ship Shuuma all you want but you will have to accept that the ship can only 'work' in fanon works and will never get any canon support.

I would like to hear your thoughts on the DF diaboys routes you have played at this point.
yessir!! under the cut:
Shu: Shu's DF route is an exercise in meeting him where he is. We know Shu loves his family, but we have to understand it isn't easy for him to show it. We're right at the precipice of a big change in Shu and Reiji's relationship, but we have to accept that acting the way Reiji wants him to just isn't what's best for Shu. Yui wants confirmation of Shu's affection for her, but she has to learn that he shows his affection in other ways. It's kind of like this route is showcasing Shu's flaws and you're going, "That's okay! I like Shu because he's Shu!" so I think it's sweet. Take your time, Shu! ...If I had to complain about this route, I'd say that we spend so long away from the other characters that it gets lonely. I guess that's the point, though...I just don't really find all the "hiding from everyone else" scenes very exciting after a while. We could've spoken to Reiji more, and I honestly feel like Shu and Reiji have bigger breakthroughs in other routes, so this one feels like it's missing a big scene with the Beatrix bros.
Ayato: If you had asked me when I had just played HDB and MB, I would have told you, "Never in a MILLION YEARS will I feel anything other than hatred for Cordelia," but well!!! Surprise!!! This one will make you feel things other than hatred for Cordelia, whether you like it or not. I truly understand how the triplets felt when they said they loved and hated her. The situation is too complicated for me to get into it very much here, but in short I'll say that I really liked the direction they took with the plot of this route, and I came out of it feeling like Ayato and Yui took a well-earned step forward. Absolutely loved this one. So proud of both of them. Whenever I play through the DF Sakamaki prologue, it makes me feel cruel if I don't pick Ayato's route lmao
Laito: If you are an angst lover like me then you will eat this shit up. It's an extremely bad time for every character involved. It hurt so good. I had to spend 70% of this route convincing Laito not to kill himself. In this route, Laito discovers a fact about his father that changes his outlook on his entire life, like every single thing about his life, and the performance that Daisuke Hirakawa gives is like.. It's pure art idk what to tell you. Reading this route is not good enough, you need the audio. I was scared, I wanted to cry, and as a triplet lover there were high points too, but my heart ached for the entire route, even through the good ending! I like that even the obligatory fanservice scenes don't let you forget how terrible the situation is! Strongly strongly strongly recommend
Yuma: Alas, I can only give you a super biased review of this one. It's my favorite route because it has so many good Shu/Yuma scenes. This route is our last bit of "Shu avoids Yuma and keeps secrets from him for his own good!" drama before Yuma finally gets the whole truth about his childhood. We get the cute flashback scenes, Yuma gets some awful nightmares and has some panic attacks, there's a little of everything! :D Even Zweig is there and he and Yuma are super cool, and if you know anything about Lost Eden then you know how hilarious that is. Anyway, this all culminates in THE YUMA BEST FRIEND MONOLOGUE which is one of my favorite dialovers scenes, period, because it makes me so happy. It feels soooo good to watch the arson recovery trio...recover from the arson. 10/10. Shuuma shippers, this one is required reading.
Carla: I'm definitely not shaming you if this route is to your taste, but it certainly wasn't to mine :') Most diaboys talk down to you, but Carla talks down to you to such a degree that I started getting offended over stuff I've never been offended about before. Like, "What do you mean you don't like the taste of my blood?! My blood is fucking delicious!" lol. I am not into all the forced pregnancy stuff, I am not into the demon racism stuff, I am not into how often Yui is reminded that she has no family and no one will come save her. I personally found Carla to be unbearable until he collapsed and started the process of dying. Then he got all sensitive and lonely and I was like "ok I can deal with him now." The ending isn't very satisfying either (What do you mean sucking Yui's blood will stop him from dying for now? He's been sucking her blood this whole time and his symptoms got way worse.) and Carla's blood sucking noises made me want to take my headphones off and throw them away (sorry toshiyuki morikawa I respect you so much toshiyuki morikawa) soooooooooo.........I didn't like it. I grew to like Carla around CL so don't be sad if you like him, ok? He's my friend now, but this route is still just unpleasant to me hgfghsdf
Shin: I know I said I hated the forced pregnancy talk and the demon racism plans and I did hate them, believe me, but Shin's route was successful in getting me to like him. I love that they put him in jail and beat the shit out of him, that was such a good scene and I really feel like my tastes are finally being represented lmao. Because it's his introductory route, he's pretty rough around the edges (true for every diaboy—everyone is a huge jerk in their introductory route) but there was still a lot to enjoy! The flashback scenes were fun (dare I say...he was...cute?!) and when put together with Carla's, the Tsukinamis have a super interesting story & dynamic together, and it fits the themes of dialovers really well. The differences with Carla's route, to me at least, are that Shin's scenes feel more like "playing with a diaboy" even when he gets mean, Shin has the added appeal of being teasable and of being a BIG FLUFFY DOG, and of course, Shin's blood sucking scenes didn't make me want to die. I'm clearly in the minority here, though, because Shin is at the bottom of every popularity poll I see lol...Anyway, it didn't make me LOSE MY SHIT like some other routes did, but I had fun playing this one!!

Nat how do you think Shu will react to seeing Yumas body build for the first time. Like I know that Rejet for some reason gave this man abs even tho he barely moves, have an headcon that he has a normal body type and is not that muscular, Yuma on the other hand definitely does has abs and is more of a big man, and he wears lose cloths so how will Shu react to seeing his body bear and seeing how literally big he is
hey, that's kind of a real shuuma plot point! :D
in MB, shu rips yuma's shirt open to confirm his identity. when he was a kid, he saw edgar changing and noticed a mark on his shoulder, which edgar says he got from falling off the roof. so shu goes to check! and sure enough, he finds that mark and a bunch of extra burn marks! mostly it's just painful for him :')
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(yui's face cracks me up lol I make that same face when I read this scene)
.....but maybe that's not quite what you're talking about, especially cuz in the manga adaption, it only exposes yuma's shoulder lol. there have been times in drama cds where everybody got shirtless, though, so I can say for sure he has seen it. (spa cd, chocolate factory cd!)
early on in the plot, I imagine it'd still be painful for shu. like, I bet he's more focused on the burn marks than yuma's build. but I think it'd be a super cute idea if like, as the series progresses and shu and yuma become more comfortable with each other, shu becomes able to look past it and he's like "holy shit wait a second......he's huge. and ripped. fuck" LOL I'd love to read about that. that good old fashioned "this body is familiar and nostalgic to me but it's so different now and I'm having FEELINGS" heheheheh

Shuma and subakou pet names?
great question!!!! this is what I think!
subakou using pet names seems really good, really realistic to me. it's one of the things that really makes it sink in for subaru that they're in a relationship for real. kou, in relationships, has this extra challenge of being an idol for a living so I think he purposefully chooses gender neutral nicknames to call subaru. so he can answer subaru's calls in public and be like "hey sweetheart!!" and it won't cause a million troublesome rumors, and if kou gets asked if he has a gf then he can confidently go "nope!"
little does he know that subaru's actually way more comfortable with these genderless petnames. being called kou's boyfriend usually makes him tense and embarrassed, but he doesn't get those feelings when kou calls him darling or sweetheart or things like that. even if he complains that it's stupid and gross, he actually really likes it and kou can tell. gender affirming on accident! :)
for shuuma (though these arent technically petnames) I've seen a lot of content where they call each other by edgar and lilie, and it makes me think. on one hand it's really sweet that they both have, like, secret names that no one else can call them by. but on the other hand I'm not sure that I share this headcanon, because I think a pretty important part of their relationship is yuma making the distinction, like, "I am not the same person as I was back then. if you want to be close to me now, you have to be close to yuma, not edgar" so shu calling yuma "edgar" all the time doesn't seem quite right to me........it feels like being stuck in the past, when I want them to like each other for who they are now.
and u know?? I really like the way shu says yuma's name. it's just the way shu says names in general, I suppose, but I like that he says it so slowly every time, like it's important. (I wish I had a clip...) so, for both of these reasons, my personal preference is that shu uses yuma's name. and he says it like it's his favorite word in the world (/^_^)/
but I could see yuma using petnames! funnily enough I think he'll still call him NEET and stuff like nothing changed, and I think petnames are something he won't say unless they're alone. so it's surprising when shu hears them!! I can totally picture yuma being like "babe cmon you have to get out of bed" and shu sits up IMMEDIATELY like "what did you say? babe? who's babe? me??"
but yuma will get embarrassed if someone draws attention to it, so it's rare. I feel like shu will try to get a recording of him saying it so he can play it on his mp3 player whenever he wants lol

So a SHUUMA thing I've been thinking sbout recently is:
Yuma starting to feel ill at school but all his brothers are busy so Shu just convinces Yuma to skip and go to the Mukami mansion, Shu takes care of little ill Yuma and takes it so seriously making sure he does everything right (that's the most effort Shu has put in anything). When the other Mukamis come home Ruki's not gonna be happy about Yuma skipping but when Shu explains to him Ruki can do nothing but... THANK HIM (propably takes away all his pride). Ruki might even be nice enough to let Shu stay since Yuma is sick and I know, I JUST KNOW, Yuma's clingy when he gest ill. I can also think about this same scenario with other Sakamakis x Yuma, thank you for your time:)
ANON....ANON U UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!! U GET IT ANON!!!!!!!!!
I gotta tell u, this seriously consumed my thoughts all day lol I could barely get any work done xD I'd love to write or draw something about it, it sounds so great!!
I love the idea of Yuma pushing himself a bit too hard to stay at school, and trying to justify it like, "In the past I've been way sicker! I can handle it!" but he gets so feverish and dizzy that Shu has to put his foot down. If he doesn't take care of Yuma then he won't take care of himself, so there's no choice! <3 Since Yuma usually takes care of others, it'd be really nice to see someone taking care of him for a change <3 <3 and Shu really tries his best, and Yuma thinks "Isn't this out of character for him?" but really he always tries his best when you're involved, Yuma!!! <3 <3 <3
clingy sick yuma is really really really good ;-; I can imagine Shu awkwardly trying to excuse himself when Yuma's all taken care of, but Yuma (barely conscious) grabs Shu's wrist and mumbles curses at him for always leaving. Take responsibility and stay for once...!! So Shu stays by his side even after Yuma loosens his grip and goes to sleep. How can he leave after that? :')

i'm working my way thru shu's CL and i just reached the shuuma parts. please hand over more shuuma headcanons 🙏🙏🙏 maybe modern AU ones if u haven't done that before
oh you know I am ALWAYS ready to talk about shuuma at any part of the day week month year or century
since you asked for a modern au, I'll keep your fic in mind >:3
It's tough to imagine an equivalent of the whole arson amnesia backstory in a modern au, so I think it must be like, they were childhood friends who had a falling out because of Reiji's meddling, then Yuma moved away. I bet, like in canon, Yuma now has the idea in his head that Shu and Reiji look down on him for being poor.
So when he moves back, and Shu starts following him around like a duckling but never actually talking to him, he's like "Is this his way of trying to bully me or something?? Well that's not gonna work, I could kick this guy's ass"
So Yuma shoves him against a wall to intimidate him, gets all in his face and stuff, talks down to him and asks if he wants to get physical (as in FIGHT he's talking about FIGHTING you pervert)
Shu, gay: um. maybe.
Funnily enough, they get a reputation around school for being friends despite how tense things are. Shu is like a legendary Mysterious Pretty Boy at school so girls watch him, and Yuma is well-liked by the people in his class, and everyone's seeing them together so often. The girls who like Shu are like "wow, he's always with that Yuma guy!!" and Yuma's classmates are like "wow, dude, you made friends with the ice prince himself!"
So people end up grouping them together. Like, "Shu and Yuma should do this part of the class project together!" and Yuma groans and agrees "since Shu won't do anything if I'm not around to make him."
(This is 100% true. If Shu got paired up with anyone else he definitely wouldn't lift a finger. But Yuma's VERY effective at making him do stuff, turns out)
So somewhere along the line, it becomes less "Shu is following Yuma around" and more "Yuma is dragging Shu around." Before Yuma even realizes it, HE'S the one searching for Shu and sticking to him. (Shu loves it lol)
After spending a lot of time together I think they'd find time to work out their misunderstandings! probably while smoking weed together lmao. u really nailed that part of the modern shuuma dynamic
and once Yuma stops misinterpreting the way Shu constantly stares at him as like, a weird form of harassment, he's like "ohhhh. he likes me. like really obviously likes me"
Actually another thing from your fic that I really liked was asexual Yuma, and I really loved the comedic potential of Shu thinking that Yuma is the sexiest person in the world but Yuma doesn't have sex often, so when Yuma's like "I might fuck you today" Shu drops everything and FLOORS IT. it's SO funny u were so right

regarding the person who commented about "brothers" in owari no seraph -- no they arent biological brothers. they belong in the same "family" as in their orphanage group and they refer to themselves as brothers/ bestfriends. thats why i said shuuma. no they arent related at all lol
if they see each other as brothers then that’s enough to make me dislike the ship ^^; thanks for clearing it up though!
