even while locked up, Toji will make Valentine's day special for you. He already has a letter sent to you every day leading up to the 14th. Some of them sweet, romantic. Others just straight up dirty. He also has Shiu get you some things, spending the money he has in an offshore bank account.
February 1st
There's a ring at your doorbell, and you sleepily open the door.
"Shiu!" You happily greet before you realize he's holding one of those giant ass bouquets of roses. One of those ramos buchones with the pretty gemstones and your initial spelled out with baby's breath. Flashy as hell. "What's all this?"
"Jus' read the damn letter," he nods to a red envelope, a cigarette dangling out his mouth but away from your precious gift. Toji would kill him even from the inside if he were to find out Shiu got even the slightest of ashes on his girl's gifts. You take the envelope, tracing your name written in Toji’s bold, messy scrawl. You barely close the door before sliding your finger under the seal.
Didn’t forget, baby. I never do. First day, first gift. You better love it. Had Shiu pick out the biggest, most ridiculous thing I could find. My princess only deserves the best, right?
February 2nd
The letter today is simple. Too simple.
Baby, I hope you didn’t think I’d only spoil you with flowers.
Your stomach twists in anticipation. Later that day, you hear a knock. This time, it’s a delivery service. You sign for a package, confusion written all over your face—until you open it. Inside is a velvet box. You slowly open it, and it catches the light, casting rays of color—a necklace, a gold figaro chain with a diamond pendant. Looking closer at the pendant makes your breath hitch.
His initials.
You press your lips together, heart thudding. The note beneath it is shorter this time.
Wear it. Every day. I’ll know if you don’t.
February 3rd
On your front porch it a tiny pink box with another letter perched on top. You open the box first, the whole collection of a lip gloss you wear, one Toji said was his favorite because he loves the scent and the taste when he kisses it off your lips.
I was gonna wait, but fuck it. You know I don’t have patience. I’ve been thinking about you too much, baby. Can’t sleep. Can’t focus. All I can think about is that pretty mouth of yours.
You don’t even finish reading before you slam the letter shut. Your face is on fire. He’s ridiculous. But your fingers linger on the page, gripping it tight. You’re not going to reread it. You’re not.
February 4th
Another gift. This time, it’s a designer perfume. You spray it on your wrist out of curiosity, inhaling the scent—rich, warm, deep. A little spicy yet still sweet. Just like you. A folded note is stuck in the packaging.
This is how I want you to smell when I have you under me.
You hate the way your breath catches. The way you tighten your grip on the bottle, as if that’ll stop the way his words sink under your skin.
February 5th
Shiu hands you the next letter without a word. You expect something dirty again, but instead—
You been eating, baby? Sleeping? You better be taking care of yourself. I’ll be real pissed if I find out you’re not.
You blink at the paper, stomach twisting. You don’t even like that he makes you feel this way. Cared for. Wanted. As soon as you look up, Shiu hands you the bags from behind his back. It's takeout from the place you always went to with Toji. Your favorites are inside, every single thing down to the drink. You knew Toji meticulously picked out each menu item. In the other bag Shiu hands you is self care items. Your creams and serums and even the face masks you force Toji to wear with you.
February 6th
You shouldn’t be looking forward to these letters as much as you do. But you do. This one is short.
You dream about me? Bet you do. Wonder if you wake up wet, missing my hands.
You rip it up, toss it in the trash.
Then, minutes later, you dig it back out, smoothing out the pieces.
You hate him.
February 7th
Another knock at the door. Another gift. This time, it's a dress—silky, short, scandalous.
The note?
Wear this when you come see me.
Your breath catches. He hasn’t mentioned seeing you yet, hasn’t even implied it. But now, it lingers in the air.
February 8th
A different kind of letter today.
If I was there right now, what would you do?
You should throw it away.
Instead, that night, you sit on your bed, staring at it in the dim glow of your bedside lamp, heart pounding in your chest.
February 9th
A small box sits outside your door in the morning. This time it's a velvet pouch. You pull the string, letting the contents slide onto your palm—an anklet, delicate gold with a tiny charm dangling off the chain. This one matches your necklace, his initials are on this one too. You don’t even hesitate this time. You clasp it around your ankle immediately.
This one's gonna be dangling over my shoulder soon.
February 10th
Shiu shows up again. Another box.
Inside? Lingerie.
Red. Lace.
The note is just one line.
Think about me when you put it on.
February 11th
You better be missing me, baby. I know you are.
This time the gift is a whole outfit. One of those flowy white maiden-style off the shoulder dresses, pretty sandals, and even an innocent enough white bra and panty set with cute little bows.
It doesn't go with the letter, which leaves you a tad bit confused.
February 12th
This letter is filthy.
Explicit enough that you don’t even know how he got it past whoever checks his mail.
You have to sit down after reading it.
And take a very cold shower.
February 13th
Another envelope. You open it, expecting a letter. But nope. Just a single ticket to Italy for February 15th. Weird.
February 14th
A single rose sits outside your door, a final letter tucked beneath it.
You should know by now to lock your windows, ma. Don't know what kind of scary men could climb through your window.
What the?? Slowly you turn around, and there he is, in the flesh. All smug and cute like he knows he did a damn good job at surprising you.
"Happy Valentine's Day princess."

oh to baby the ever handsome flawless hero,,, phainon you deserve to be handfed and get your cheeks pinched and cooed at. i need to cut fruits for him i need to make sure he stays warm in cold weather. please maintain your whimsy if he loses that boyish smile i will END IT ALLLLLL
“You're so... cute.”
Being caught by surprise spells death for a warrior and you are a master at enacting that incantation every time. Phainon would've marinated in the bafflement of it all for a while longer, if his reflexes hadn't acted faster, arms springing forward to catch your figure — deliberately pushed towards himself.
“Haa — mmf?” his must look like a visage worthy of jeer, but his attention is too flighty to focus on anything less important than the press of your palms against his cheeks, mushing the flesh together to your whimsy.
It wouldn't be difficult to push you away, if his left hand hadn't been occupied with securing your balance on his lap, firmly coiled around your waist. But it would be incorrect to assume his wishes lay anywhere in that territory, his very free and very much functioning right hand dangling by the side seemed to provide evidence to his prominent disinterest in severing the contact.
Light falls on your back, veiling your exact expression from his curious eyes. But he can tell that you've leaned closer, feel the absence of heat from where your hand parted ways from his skin and settled amongst the ivory strands of his hair.
“How can a man be this... this adorable?” there's a frightening mix of endearment and frustration in your voice, unless he's losing his mind. Your vigorous ruffling of his hair next, assures him that he has not.
“It should be illegal to be this precious.” the pout that he's most certain exists on your lips bleeds its way to your admissions of how endearing he apparently is. He's unable to force words out of his parched mouth, blood clogged around from his ears to his cheeks — where you deliver a sharp pinch to, rouging the skin further.
His winch is promptly muffled by your skin, the abrupt pull your hand causing him to crash straight into your embrace. He can feel the barely-there weight of your cheek brushing against his hair, utterances of a line of words he vaguely recognizes as abstract terms of endearment bounces off his ears. You try to rock him like a newborn child, he assists by melting further in your arms.
The grip you have around him is by no means strong, but the thought that he could take advantage of it to liberate himself from this embarrassing situation does not once cross his mind. He doesn't even find it the least bit flustering, in fact.
Just as quickly as it started, you pull him away from your arms and all the muscles in his face drop. It does not seem like you thought it vital to be acknowledged either, focusing instead on scooping a few grapes from the bowl of fruit that Phainon cannot even recall you putting down.
“What are you thinking about? Open your mouth.” his jaw slackens at the command, at a speed that'd no doubt give many people whiplash. If wind passed by at that moment, it'd no doubt whistle in his head.
You push one after another piece of mouthwatering fruit, but his braincells scurry away from processing the tastes of them. Bright blue eyes cradle the pleased curve of your lips with utmost caution, caress the purse between them whenever he appears slow in following your motion. He feels moisture gathering at the corners of his eyes. Your smile, your warmth, the timbre of his voice, all so heart-wrenchingly ethereal —
“Tsk, look at how messy you are, can't even chew a piece of fruit cleanly.” you suddenly remark, purposefully smearing some pomegranate juice on the corner of his lips. He blinks at the shift in your expression, you tilt your head to address his confusion, nearly burning the remnants of his conscious mind.
Your titillating gaze flits to the scene of your creation next, tracing over the arch of his lips and returning back to gauge his stare — challenging him to speak, to break free, to deny you as you lean closer, fixated on the stain of fruit residue you painted your intentions with.
He answers by decreasing a breath worth of space, the hand that rested so far in serenity on your back pushed you closer, while his right hand wrenched the dagger away from your knuckle tight clasp. Gone is the veil of dew that you cloaked yourself in thus far, expression scrunched in what he can only assume is incendiary displeasure.
He watched as your disgruntled eyes followed the twirl of the dagger now dancing between his fingers, “So close! I must admit, you're getting more and more creative with your approaches, melite!” his energetic response did nothing but worsen your existing disappointment.
You crossed your arms in petulance, no longer interested in keeping that searing eye-contact, “Maybe just poison my food next, eh? Definitely much easier than going through all this trouble.”
The casual lilt of Phainon's suggestion appalls you, compelling you to turn around to face his stupid wide smile, “What are you saying? Didn't you always want a Hero’s death?”
That puts a dent to his disturbing playfulness, he throws away the excuse of a dagger somewhere without care. Eyes glossing over in realization, “You remembered...!”
That earns him nothing but a deadpan.
A boom of laughter fills the air, “Okay, okay, I'll stop ‘messing around’, as you like to say.”
Traces of his amusement linger and gather round to form one last wink, “But I wasn't joking, it really did touch this little heart of mine.” he cradles the mentioned organ in cue, getting a seasoned eye-roll in response.
Now it's his turn to gather you close, you do your duty in pushing against the embrace, like you've done so many times before — losing before his strength like every time.
“And I also wasn't joking when I suggested that you can use more underhanded methods to kill me for good.” he looks directly at you, through you, trapping you in place to match his steps in continuing this charade.
“Why?” you feel compelled to ask and to your bewilderment, Phainon's smile softens.
“Because death by your hand, no matter the way, would be my greatest honor.”

The Shadows That Nurture 10
Added dividers because I felt like the time skip/scene change would become confusing without any indication of it.
I really need an answer on how y'all feel about Immortal x Dupli-kate cuz depending on the popular opinion stuff will change 🤐 I'm willing to split a lot of people up for the drama and/or miscommunication nonsense
Enjoy!

Some place where the supernatural meets the normal, a little place called The Oblivion Bar, John Constantine simply sat shocked at the words he managed to hear and process through his mushed brain. Bobo closes his hung jaw, drinks his whiskey, and pats his friend’s shoulder as the man mumbles a sobering spell, cringing at the effects. “I should go. Good luck, John.” And so, the chimpanzee quickly makes his exit, leaving the Laughing Magician and Death of the Endless to their business.
“I need you to walk me through this again, luv- wasn’t quite paying attention.” Constantine shook his head as he fully turned to face the smiling entity. “You and who did what?!” He hissed, voice barely above a whisper as he tried not to bring attention to what they were saying. This was bad. Really bad.
“Lady Gotham and I took a liking to Batman’s youngest daughter and-“ John quickly interrupted her. “And gave her magical powers beyond my comprehension and immortality- yes, I heard that, did you?!” The man rubbed his face, the thought was making him want to get drunk until he dropped. ”Have you gone mad? Giving a mortal immortality is more of Dream’s style you should know better-“
Death only smiled at him, amusement filling her eyes as she gently laid a hand on his shoulder making him tense up. “She was lonely, she deserves every happiness those powers and eternity are bound to give her. You’ll understand once you see her.” And boy, did John laugh his gut out at that as he shook his finger. “No- no, no, no- there’s no way I insert myself into that mess- Bat’s family is already a mess and reeks of you without magic- No- There’s no way- that’s bonkers-“
Death gets up with a bright smile. “Thank you, John.” Her words make him stutter almost choking on his breath at the audacity. “Don’t thank me ya loon! I’m not going to help her, I’m not even going to see the moppet!” He can only yell and cuss as she leaves.

“Alright, Cecil-“ The old man immediately interrupted you, the little communication device in your ear buzzing with life as he told you to not use names. “… Dude… I’m miles in the air, first of all! Second, that was like a really common name once. it’ll take a while to find you specifically, and I doubt anyone could anyway- you seem like the type that would erase himself from the gov’s documents.”
“Anyway-“ You didn’t give him time to say anything else. “What house am I supposed to go to again? And why?”
The old man sighs at your antics, rubbing the side of his forehead as he feels the headache coming while he gives the address once more. “Your brother’s teacher, Mr. Hiles, has been the mall bomber. It took us a while, he was smart about it, kept his search into biological bomb-making off the internet but he wasn’t that thorough about his paper trail.”
“Be prepared for anything and a confrontation.” The older man cleared his throat. You always made him nervous; you were an unexpected equation in everything, something he couldn’t control without risking Earth. Donald and everyone else just took his weariness and suspicion as him being overly cautious, but Cecil could tell something was clinging to you that just gave him nightmares.
“And thank you- usually I would have sent someone from the Teen Team but…uh-“ His eyes followed the action on another screen. “They’re busy. Your brother and father are helping them.”
“You’re nervous. Yapping again. Chill, I’ll take care of it. Just because I don’t want to be your little puppet doesn’t mean I don’t want to keep people safe.” You found the man irritating, but for now, he was being sane, actually doing his job, so you couldn’t complain. “Getting closer to the target. Going dark.” Was the only warning the man got before the com was powered off.
Finally ready to land you politely greeted the man, walking through the training both Cecil and Nolan provided at the start of your vigilantism. “I didn’t expect to get caught quite this early, and I certainly expected… more conventional authorities when the time did come.” Professor Hiles just sighs and welcomes you in by your birth name. “How did you-“
“Are you kidding me? Mark is unable to shut up about you. And you forget to wear your hood more times than you do wear it.” The man said as he took off his sweater. “Follow me, I’ll show you to the fourth missing student. I assure you, I have no intention of resisting.” Well… This was easier than expected.
As he started to confess about how he started doing this, he led you to his basement. “Mr. Hiles, while I understand the loss of a child to suicide, a divorce, and the loss of a job ruined you until you hit rock bottom, avenging your son like this-“
“I’m not avenging the death of my son. That would be far too cliché.” Your eyes landed on the teen strapped to the table once he turned on the light, breath hitching as you saw the skin of his arms merging sloppily with the metallic torso the professor modified. “It’s the destruction of my life that has me seeking revenge.”
“The domino effect of pain and sorrow that these monsters create. Children who spend too much time at the mall, attend parties, consume alcohol, and play sports when they should be studying and doing homework.”
“I understand your ire, I’m not one for parties or drunks, but not all kids who do that stuff go to extremes, that’s a flawed logic- it does not give you the right to play god and do-“ You tried to placate him, keeping your tone soft and even, to try and make him see reason. “What I did to all of them, turning them into living bombs, an instrument with which to exact my revenge… my crusade to end the pain and sorrow by these- ‘popular’ kids… I feel no guilt for.”
“I can’t think of a more appropriate end to my crusade-” Mr. Hiles ripped open the shirt he was wearing, revealing the same mechanism the unconscious teen had. “-than the death of a superhero!” You quickly acted, not letting him talk more beyond that as the timer set to 50 seconds started trickling down while you grabbed him, breaking through his ceilings and roof and flying high in the air.
“Is this really how you want to die? Suicide bomb? You still can make this right- you don’t have to die like this just tell me how to deactivate it!“ Your eyes remained on the clock. Twenty, nineteen, eighteen. The man just chuckled a dry, humorless laugh. “Do it. There is nothing for me anymore.” Five, four, three.
You couldn’t tell if what you felt was sorrow or shame, but you knew you were defeated. The man was going to get one final death, but it won’t be yours. As your flight came to a stop well above the clouds, you threw the man higher in front of you as the clock struck one second, and as it hit zero, the bomb detonated, the range and heat of the explosion destroying any remains while pushing you back a bit.
Your eyes remained on the cloud of smoke it created. If the cops found him before you did, the bomb would have wiped out the neighbors, too. That’s what hero life was, what it is. Sacrifices left and right that only made you feel more at odds with this job than before.
As you went back to the house, you activated the com, putting it back into your ear. Cecil immediately informs you that the police are en route as well as his clean-up team. “Get an explosive ordnance disposal technician, too. There is a teen in the basement, the bomb doesn’t seem active yet, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I’ll send a report of what happened soon.” You stayed until Cecil’s people showed up, just to be sure the boy was still breathing and that the bomb wouldn’t activate.

Helping Brit and the other heroes clean up the rubble from the alien attack helped keep your mind off things. The Brit enjoyed talking about his kid and wife, yapping until he needed to take a breath and then starting again keeping a smile on your face.
You enjoyed helping clean up, especially when there were no casualties, today wasn't that type of day. But it had become the easy, relaxing part of the job, pick big rubble up, place it into the waste trucks, pick another piece up, make sure to not hit the man in the trench coat, put it in the waste- wait…
Your head snaps back to the man, squinting as your eyes meet. You each take a second to take each other in before your eyes widen in surprise. “Hello, luv. I’m-“ You couldn’t help your excitement as recognition finally settled into your brain. “I know you-“ Your words made John cringe and tense up. When others said that it never ended well for him. “You’re Johnny Con-Job, the lead singer for Mucous Membrane, dude, your band got me into the punk culture.”
That… wasn’t what he expected. He wasn’t sure if he should be proud of that or fight back the mental breakdown that was creeping up his spine. “You’re a bit young for that slop, no?” You just shrug. “Your songs got me to finally put myself first, to get the courage to sneak out, see other stuff beyond the walls of my first house, help others, and leave my neglectful family before they could seriously hurt me.” Her words worried him. John never took Bruce as the “lock his kids up” type, but the man was as paranoid as they came, he wouldn’t put that above him.
“It may be slop and shitty vocals, but it’s what I needed to hear.” You teased him while putting the rubble in the waste collector. He watched as you approached him with a soft smile and sparkling eyes. He could see what Death meant. “I need to talk to you. I’m not quite sure about what luv, but I think it’s about Batman-“ He didn’t get to finish, as soon as the name left his mouth, he was grabbed by the throat and lifted well above the clouds, way too close to the ozone layer. “Did he send you?” you hissed, giving his neck a warning squeeze.
Yup. He definitely saw what Death meant as your eyes glowed a Lazarus green. “Nno-“ He choked out. “Did Bruce Wayne send you?” her question was met with the same answer. Your grip softened, grabbing him by his coat instead of his neck as you brought him closer. “Then why are you here?”
“We need to talk in private…” He whispered as he realized the situation.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
This was a whole mess that John Constantine knew he should have stayed out of- he knew! From Bruce to the whole family basically ignoring the kid, not even telling her about the vigilantism, to the rogues taking her in and doing a better job of raising her to her running away and getting adopted by another hero- a hero that John knew wanted to conquer the world, the whole fucking race wanted to, the fucking demons had a problem with that and wouldn’t stop complaining to him like he can fix it- he takes a deep breath in. “Why are you telling me all of this?” He whined, rubbing his face as he sat on the edge of some skyscraper with you.
“I’m not hiding my past, I’ll happily snitch and tell a reporter that Bruce Wayne is a shit father, they all just assume I’m Nolan’s actual kid that was in the hospital for a deadly something or whatever.” You shrug. “Please don’t- not because I care about the bellend- I just don’t want to deal with… Huh. Now that I’m thinking about it, that may be great blackmail.” His words only made you snicker.
He didn’t know where to begin. Did she know about the Viltrumite? Was she in cahoots with him? Should he tell her any of that? Would she even believe his ass? Maybe he should get the JL involved...
The scruffy man shook his head. “Not why I’m here. You said your hero name is Sorceress? Great, so you know you have magic powers, that makes it easy-“ John took in your shocked expression. Of course, it wasn’t that easy, it never could be. “If this was another world, I’d call you crazy.” You told him simply. “But Midnight City is cursed, and I guess that makes sense… Is that why I can hear the shadows speak?”
John nodded before doing a double take, asking you to elaborate on the shadows speaking part. “They just speak, whisper, giggle the whole thing. They can also emit what they feel. They’ve always been present, they’re not as strong here, but I think that’s because they’re more tied to Gotham and Midnight City… or just- where there is more darkness.”
“Well, you’re not far off there, love.” The man nodded in agreement as his eyes drifted to the dark dome around the cursed city. He knew where to start. “This is going to be a long explanation, you better strap in, hen, and let me finish before you ask questions.”
“You remember the painting and murals you made of gods and other entities, demons, angels, the whole sort, in Gotham and here? Yeah, they brought the attention to you from the entities you drew. Some of the moppets took them as a higher form of offering than others, a few of them decided to stick around you.”
“Those have also decided to- ‘bless’ you with a few gifts, I’m not sure of all of them, but I know specifically that Lady Gotham offered the shadows as a companion and protector, and I know that Death of the Endless has blessed you with… well, immortality.” There was no way of walking around that fact. “I don’t remember if any of these two also gave you your powers, I was quite sloshed, but someone did.” John looked at the kit, taking in her shocked expression before he nudged you a bit. “Come on, kid, say something. You got me all worried here.”
“It’s all just- a bit much.” You mumble. “Yeah, I get it. A lot for you to shoulder, but I’m sure you’ll power through- oh, thanks love… Wha- How-“ John’s eyes moved from the beer in his hands to the energy can you were looking at. You just shrug. "I wanted to know if I could, thought…” You narrow your eyes at the can in your hands. “I’m not sure if this is made out of thin air or just- teleported or something.”
Constantine just slowly looks back at his beer mug… She was taking this better than most. He hoped it was because the shock hadn’t worn off yet. Well, he’s had worse things in his mouth, he's sure, so with a shrug, he takes a sip, humming with delight at the taste, muttering something about this being real beer. “You’re here to help me, right? Like- with my powers… I- I think I need help with this whole worshipping gods and demons- entities- thing, too.”
He knew the easy way out would be to say no, to just leave, she had done just fine without him… But that isn’t what came out of his mouth. “Sure, poppet. Just keep on giving me this fine beer.” Given his track record with people and magic, he shouldn’t feel this accomplished at your happiness, but he was always quite selfish, so he returned your hug, even if he was a bit stiff.
“Now- usually the normal thing is to go from small stuff to big, teach the basics, but I’m not one for rules. Have you ever wanted to teleport via portals?” The big mischievous smile you gave him was all the answer he needed.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
You came home at the same time as Nolan and Mark, everyone’s first stop after greeting Debbie was their bedrooms to refresh themselves before going back to the dining area. “I’m going to be honest, Nolan, the longer hair and full beard fit you better than the silly mustache. Right, mom?” You couldn’t help the teasing as the whole family ate. Debbie looked at Nolan with a scrutinizing eye, before sighing and giving an amused smile. “I’ll definitely miss the beard.”
Mark snorted at the teasing as Nolan pouted, brows furrowing. “It’s not silly- it’s a rite of passage into manhood by the Viltrumite culture-“ you couldn’t help but interrupt. “It’s still a silly-looking mustache. What does the Viltrumite rite of passage for women look like?”
Nolan’s momentary displeasure at the mustache comment was overlooked as the inquiry about the Viltrumite women was brought forth. “Huh… I’m not sure, I never really paid attention to that. I think some cut their hair.” A puff of air escaped you in amusement before deciding to tease him some more. “Well, you clearly weren’t planning for a daughter that’s sure.”
Debbie just took in the chatter. She enjoyed the easy atmosphere, the laughter of her kids. “So, how was everyone’s day?” She asks once the chatter stops. “Oh, I met the Teen Team and helped them with the Flaxan attack, dad got kidnapped by them while I was trying to gather up survivors, made friends with Atom Eve, and met an alien called Allen who apparently got the wrong planet.” Mark shrugged.
“I spent the last eight months enslaved by an army from an alternative dimension, although it seems much less time has passed here. About a week ago, I led a revolt against my captors and regained control of my powers. Today, a team of scientists from the rebellion found a way to get me home.” Nolan lied as easily as he breathed.
“One of Mark’s teachers was turning his classmates into organic bombs in order to take revenge on kids he felt were like the ones who led his son to commit suicide. He turned himself into a bomb also and tried to take me out with him but clearly, it didn’t work in his favor. Helped clean up after the Flaxan mess, and met the lead singer of Mucous Membrane who apparently is a mage. He was here on behalf of Death herself to help me and tell me that my powers aren’t because I’m a meta, they’re magic. Oh, and also, I’m allegedly immortal.” You took a sip of water. “Lex also wants to know if anyone would be interested in attending one of his rich folk parties.”
At the quietness of the room, you lifted your eyes from your plate to look at everyone’s shocked glance. “What?” you ask with a mouth full of food.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
That night, the teens wanted to sleep with their parents, both needing reassurance. Debbie and Mark were already gone, sleeping deep and peacefully. “Dad… You awake?” your question was whispered as your head lay on Deborah's shoulder. He answered with a warm hand squeezing your shoulder and a quiet hum. “...How do you move past people you can’t save or the people we have to sacrifice?”
Nolan wasn’t sure how to answer that, he’d never felt anything for the people he couldn’t save. He knew that if he had to save earth’s people or his kids and wife… Well… Earth can be populated again. “You look at the people who you did save. We can’t always save everyone, that’s the sad reality. It’s… painful. But it’s a truth all heroes have to come to terms with. Even I can’t save everyone.” Nolan wrapped his arms around his girls and son tighter, pulling everyone closer. “If all you could save was a person, you still did everything you could. If you couldn’t save anyone, you just have to keep your head high and try again.”
You snuggled closer into your mom, feeling her arm instinctively wrap around you as you draped yours over her and Nolan’s stomach, your fingers laying on Mark’s wrist. The sad reality of being a hero...

Aerith offered a half-smile, tinged with guilt. This wasn't a proper reception for Somnus at all, it was rushed and messy, it shouldn't have happened this way. But it was too late to change. "They don't know about the marriage. That is, I think you are being eyed as my future-husband, and my current-bodyguard given how we arrived."
The expression she gave him was like a silent apology. "I know this isn't the shining beginning that you deserve, I promise we will do better."
She hoped, at the very least, that he could trust in her promise. He wouldn't always exist under a veil of secrecy within the inner-castle. Though some of their most trusted servants already knew the truth, there would be a slow trickle outwards, quickened if any of the Lucian soldiers present for guarding the ceremony had whispers to share. And yet, he should never have to feel like a whisper...
Perhaps this was an added reason as to why Aerith brought him inside a room that was deeply important to the family. She hoped that she could convey to him that he was important. That their bond was real, and that she considered him her family.
Her lips tickled with another smile. She hummed, affectionately cupping her own hands in a prayer-like motion over her chest. He felt it too... "I love the thrumming in the air. I guess it's comforting, to know you can leave such a powerful piece of your magic behind."
She trailed closer to the wall that had utterly stolen his heart. The weapons, of course. "Yeah, with permission." Her head tilted, and she walked over to the adjacent wall, gesturing to the mastered orbs of materia. "First we have to seek permission from the ancestral spirit. They entrusted their most powerful possession into our care, so it would be offensive if we used anything in this room carelessly. I had to ask three times before I was finally allowed to practice advanced magic. I wouldn't be able to cast spells like I do now, if I had never been allowed to practice with these. I understand now. I needed to demonstrate that I could not only cast the magic, but that I would be able to weave spells carefully."
Half-turning, hands clasped behind her back now, she gave a small dip at her waist towards him. "Maybe one day you'll be granted permission to use one of the weapons here for further training. Practice with Cetran weapons would do you well, especially if you're seeking to incorporate more elemental magic into your battle skill."
Somnus tried to draw a map up in his head, noting down where everything was that Aerith showed him. Treating it a little like a battleplan helped, but it was way more comfortable than this, of course. Instead of imagining tactics he could use to win a battle, here Somnus got to imagine scenes and behaviours he could see himself doing along her family to built a bond. He would have to conquer them in another way. He would have to make a good impression… a better one than the one he had made the day the caravan had left.
“Wait. Do they just not know you would bring a husband or do they think I am Ardyn?”, he tried to get out of Aerith. Both were possibilities. After all their wedding had been a secret – and Jacob’s men had assumed it would be his brother not him.
Either way would be… a surprise for the people around here. Gulping at that thought, Somnus followed along, curious for where they would meet up with her family this evening. After all… they were supposed to be his family, now, too.
Though when the guards opened this gate and Aerith explained… Somnus’ lips feel open slightly as his eyes travelled over the myriad of items inside. It was as if magic had taken a thousand different forms and manifested into this room.
Somnus could feel the power lying in the air. Grabbing for his chest, as if he had to still his heart, he looked down and then to Aerith.
“I can feel it.”
A brimming in his chest, as if the ancient Cetran magic called to his light powers. Like her spells to the Lifestream had done. It was just a gentle sensation right now, like the wings and feet of small bees travelling over his skin. But it was there.
This time it was not like this could overwhelm him. Somnus wanted to see it all. Though him being him, his eyes first stayed with the weapons and he had to hold back from reaching for them. Spears. Staves. Lances. Swords. Shields. Bows. Worked so finely and yet looking like they had spent ages here. Kept safe. Had they ever been used? Surely. But barely a scratch in their material.
“Do you still use any of these things?”

Remus Lupin x Muggle!Reader
Summary: The legend of soulmates and the myth of endless lives tied to one another permanently was once a myth you don't believe. Until you met Remus Lupin.
WC: 4k
CW: Angst no comfort- The reader and Remus's depiction crosses gender and species lines. Hogwarts Legacy reference. Animal death and blood- so much death-
The pub smelled of stale beer and cigarette smoke, the kind of scent that lingered in the wood and clung to the air, no matter how many windows were cracked open. The low hum of music played from an old jukebox in the corner, the neon glow of its lights flickering with age.
It was familiar, comforting in a way that only a Muggle pub on a Friday night could be.
You spun your drink in your hands, watching the ice swirl lazily in your glass as Lily Evans leaned against the table beside you. She looked radiant as always, her fiery red hair gleaming under the dim lights.
“I swear,” She promised for the fifth time. “You're going to love them. Just… be nice to Peter, and for the love of Merlin, don’t ask Sirius about his family.”
You frowned. “For the love of Merlin?”
Lily’s lip twitched.. “Ah- Just… an expression. The boys use it a lot.”
You raised an eyebrow but let it go. Lily had always been a little odd, but she was your odd, your best friend since childhood.
She had been gone for the last few years, tucked away in that mysterious boarding school she never let you visit. Every time she came back to visit, she seemed… different. Like she was carrying secrets she could never fully explain.
Tonight was the first time she was introducing you to her boyfriend- James- and his friends. You had spent years watching her fall out of the abusive cycle of friendship she harbored with Severus Snape- you almost felt bad for him. If only he'd grown up too.
You had, in equal turn, been berated with letters about the slimeball that was James Potter. Just to see her ink blots lighten and her words becoming more fond when it came to his name- you were excited to meet him.
You took another sip of your drink, then looked up as the door to the pub swung open.
A burst of laughter and energy filled the pub as a group of four young men stepped inside, shaking off the damp chill of the London evening.
You saw James first, instantly recognizing him from the photos Lily had shown you. He was all messy hair and glasses, grinning like he owned the world- but the way his gaze immediately sought out Lily made your heart warm.
Then there was Sirius Black, effortlessly handsome, carrying himself with the swagger of someone who knew he could have anyone he wanted, but still acted like he was above it all. His dark leather jacket and roguish smirk screamed trouble.
Beside him was Peter Pettigrew, shorter than the rest, with darting eyes and an almost nervous energy, like he was waiting for something to go wrong.
And then there was the fourth boy- no- man.
The second your eyes landed on him, it was like the entire world narrowed.
Remus Lupin.
He was quieter than the others, his posture a little more reserved. He wasn’t as flashy as James or Sirius but something was still there.
Something in the way he held himself- not quite shying away, but not fully stepping into the spotlight either. His soft sandy blonde hair was slightly tousled, as if he had run his hands through it too many times. His face was lean, cheekbones sharp beneath tanned skin, marred by faint scars that ran across his features. But it was his eyes that caught you.
Warm, golden-brown, and filled with something ancient, something tired, something achingly familiar. Your stomach flipped.
Lily’s voice jolted you from whatever spell had momentarily trapped you.
“Come on,” She squeaked, tugging you forward with a grin. “Let me introduce you.”
Your legs felt unsteady as you followed her through the crowded pub, weaving between groups of laughing strangers. The boys turned as you approached, James immediately scooping Lily into a hug and pressing a kiss to her temple. You barely registered it.
Your focus was on Remus, who was watching you with the strangest look you'd ever seen.
Somewhere between horror and intrigue.
Lily cleared her throat, oblivious to the strange, charged silence between you and Remus.
“Alright, boys,” she said, grinning. “This is her.”
James turned away from Lily just long enough to flash you a charming, lopsided smile. “The infamous childhood best friend!” He declared. “Blimey, I was starting to think you were just a legend.”
You let out a short laugh. “Well, I assure you, I’m very real.”
Sirius tilted his head, appraising you. “We’ll see about that,” he mused, then smirked. “The real question is- are you cool enough to be seen with us?”
“Oh, definitely not,” You deadpanned. “I’m a disgrace to all things cool.”
James barked out a laugh. “I like her!”
Lily rolled her eyes but was smiling.
Meanwhile, Remus hadn’t moved.
He was still looking at you, his expression unreadable. His eyes- those deep, golden eyes- seemed locked onto you, as if he was trying to piece something together, trying to solve something that had no answer.
You met his gaze.
“Remus.” He whispered and you muttered your own name back to him without a second thought. And he smiled, lifted his hand-
The moment your fingers brushed as you shook his hand- it happened.
A bolt of pure, electric familiarity shot through your body, rattling every bone in your frame. The pub melted away, the noise, the people, the dim glow of the jukebox- everything faded into a swirl of golden light and rushing wind.
The world around you vanished. The dim pub, the chatter, the clinking of glasses- all of it was swallowed by the sudden rush of something else. Somewhere in the distance, you could hear the rustling of leaves, the whisper of wind through tall golden grass. The scent of fresh earth, sun-warmed fields, and damp fur filled your senses.
And then, you were there…
You were small, swift, your body light as you darted between the tall stalks of wheat. A fox, red-furred and wild, your sharp nose twitching as you ran through the fields.
And behind you, paws pounding against the earth, was him.
A hound.
Lanky, golden-furred, and young, still growing into his paws. His ears flopped when he ran, tongue lolling as he chased after you, barking playfully.
He was supposed to hunt you. But instead, he chased you.
Every day, when his master wasn’t looking, he sneaked away from the farmhouse, bounding over the hills to find you. Together, you would race through the fields, rolling in the wildflowers, playing until the sun dipped below the trees.
Free, weightless. Soft fur against rough wheat and playfully snapping jaws. Then- Pain. Sharp, sudden pain.
A snapping sound- cold metal clamping down around your hind leg. A trap.
You yelped, twisting, trying to free yourself, but it was tight, unrelenting. The more you pulled, the more it bit into your flesh, blood staining the grass beneath you.
And he- your hound- panicked.
He barked wildly, circling you, nudging you with his nose. He tried to paw at the trap, but he was just a dog- he couldn’t undo his master’s cruel work.
You whimpered, eyes wide, pleading. He threw his head back and howled, loud and desperate, as if somehow, that would bring help.
And help did come. But not the kind he wanted. The farmer arrived. Gun in hand.
The hound whimpered, barking frantically, placing himself between you and his master. But he was a dog. And a dog’s loyalty belonged to its owner. Even when his heart was breaking.
The farmer raised his rifle.
A deafening bang-
Darkness.
The darkness faded, but you didn’t wake up in the pub.
Instead, you were staring at your own reflection in a gilded mirror.
A face- not quite your own, but one you knew belonged to you.
Your hair was woven into delicate braids, strands of pearls threaded through like drops of moonlight. A soft silk gown pooled around you, its fabric cool against your skin. The weight of a crown sat heavy atop your head, a reminder of your fate- one you had never chosen, one you had never wanted.
And behind you- fingers grazing your bare shoulder as they fastened a necklace-
Was her.
Your Lupin.
But not as you knew him.
A woman, dressed in modest, elegant gowns, a lady-in-waiting, her golden-brown eyes lowered in the practiced deference of a servant.
But she was not just a servant.
She was your dearest friend. She was your first love.
She was the one who walked with you through moonlit gardens, whispering stories of ancient myths. The one who pressed flowers into the pages of your books, so that when you opened them, they smelled like spring.
She was the one you could never have.
Not in the way you wanted. Not in the way that made your chest ache, that made your fingers tremble when they brushed against hers, that made your heart scream for a different fate.
Not in the way that had offended your betrothed.
Not in the way that would get you both killed.
You turned in your chair, reaching for her.
Her fingers lingered at the nape of your neck, hesitant, uncertain, as if she wanted to stay there forever- but knew she could not.
She met your gaze in the mirror when you looked back.
Golden-brown eyes, filled with longing and sorrow.
She knew, too.
She had always known.
You swallowed against the lump rising in your throat. The distant sound of shouting, the clang of metal, the burning of the city below- it was getting louder.
“…Do you ever wish we could leave?” You whispered.
Her breath caught. A hesitation.
“…Every day,” She admitted. And your heart broke for her. For yourself.
For the life that could never be.
The chaos below grew closer- the sound of swords clashing, boots pounding up the castle steps. They were coming.
There was no time. No future. No way out.
Your fingers lifted, brushing against her cheek. Soft. Warm. Alive.
She sucked in a sharp breath, her lips parting slightly, her eyes flickering with fear, with need, with desperation-
And then you kissed her.
Not a soft thing. Not a hesitant thing.
But something urgent, something burning, something filled with the desperation of two lovers who knew they were out of time.
A kiss of fury, of grief, of love too big to be contained in a world too small for it.
She pulled you closer, her fingers digging into the silk of your gown, holding you, clutching you, clinging to you like she could tether herself to this moment, to you-
Then-
The doors burst open.
The room filled with shouting, with the gleam of blades, with the iron grip of soldiers as they stormed forward, tearing you apart.
You screamed, struggling against them, fighting, kicking, clawing, biting-
But your fate had already been sealed.
You saw her, your Lupin, your love, your heart, struggling, screaming your name, reaching for you-
And then- A soldier’s blade pierced your chest.
Cold. Sharp.
The world lurched, twisted- And then-
Darkness.
London was a city of smoke and gold. It was filth and grandeur, a place where the rich dined beneath glittering chandeliers while the poor shivered in the streets below.
And in the middle of it all- between the gas lamps and cobblestone alleys, between the choking smog and the perfume of wealth- you ran.
Your boots hit the pavement with a quiet rhythm, quick and light, barely making a sound as you weaved through the bustling crowds of Westminster Market. Your coat was patched and thin, your gloves fingerless, your stomach empty.
But that didn’t matter.
Because in your pocket, you now held a gold pocket watch.
Your lips curled in triumph. It was a beautiful thing- heavy, shining, the kind that belonged to someone important. Someone who wouldn’t even miss it.
Or so you thought.
Because just as you turned the corner into a shadowed alley, a hand closed around your wrist. Your breath caught.
Your instincts screamed at you to run, to fight, to flee-
But then you looked up. And your world shifted.
Him.
A man, tall and fine-boned, wrapped in an elegant dark coat. His hair was soft brown, windswept, his golden-hazel eyes piercing in the dim light. He was young, maybe only a few years older than you, but there was something about him that felt older- as if he had lived a hundred years before this moment.
And despite catching you red-handed, his expression wasn’t one of anger. No.
It was curiosity.
Amusement, even.
His grip loosened, just slightly. “You’re quick,” He panted, voice smooth as silk, his accent refined.
“Not quick enough, but still. Impressive.”
You swallowed, heart pounding against your ribs. “Let go of me.”
“You stole from me,” He pointed out.
You smirked. “You can afford it.”
He actually laughed at that, low and warm, before slowly prying his pocket watch from your fingers. But he didn’t let go of you. Instead, he tilted his head, studying you, like he was trying to place you. Like he had seen you before.
“…What’s your name?” He asked, softer now.
You hesitated. Giving your name was dangerous in your line of work. But something about him- something familiar, something achingly familiar- made you whisper it anyway. His lips parted slightly, his grip on your wrist faltering.
And then- he whispered his own name.
A strange, unspoken recognition passed between you.
Like a secret. Like a memory half-forgotten.
Weeks Passed.
And somehow, against all reason, you kept finding him.
Or perhaps, he kept finding you. He was wealthy, but he was not cruel. A scholar, an artist, a man who saw the world in soft strokes of poetry and charcoal sketches.
And despite your differences- a boy from the slums and a gentleman of high society- you kept returning to him. Perhaps because he never treated you like a criminal.
He treated you like something else entirely. Something important.
Something he was afraid of losing.
One night, beneath the glow of gas lamps, you let him trace the lines of your face with careful fingers.
“You keep looking at me like you know me,” you murmured. His lips parted, breath shallow.
“…Maybe I do.”
And then, before either of you could think- You kissed him. The world tilted, time stretched thin between you, and for a moment, it felt like something had finally fallen into place.
Like this had happened before.
Like it had happened a thousand times before.
But fate, cruel as always, was waiting. Because London was not kind to men like you. It was not kind to pickpockets caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was not kind to a street thief who had stolen more than just coins and watches- who had stolen the heart of a man who should never have looked his way.
You never saw it coming.
One moment, you were running through the streets, laughing, alive- and the next, the constables had you by the collar, dragging you through the mud.
You never had the chance to say goodbye.
They didn’t let him see you before the sentencing. But he was there when they dragged you to the gallows.
And as the noose was slipped around your throat, you searched the crowd- desperate, desperate to find him.
And you did.
His face was pale, his hands clenched into fists, his golden-brown eyes filled with helpless horror. You had seen that look before.
The executioner read your crimes. You kept your eyes on Remus.
And in that final moment- As the platform dropped beneath your feet- As the world fell away- As you left him behind.
You thought you heard him scream.
Then, darkness.
Then- you were back home, in Feldcroft. The sun setting outside the small cottage, casting warm, golden light across the wooden floors. The air smelled of burning wood and herbs, a familiar scent- one that had lingered in your childhood.
And you?
You were at the table, a book in hand, curled up in your favorite chair. The world was quiet. Peaceful. But then-
Hands suddenly gripped your shoulders.
You gasped, nearly dropping your book- only to be met with a familiar grin, a familiar laugh, full of mischief and warmth.
“Sebastian!” You scolded, playfully swatting at him. “You scared me half to death!”
He only grinned wider, stepping back before tossing something small into your hands. A shrivelfig.
“For you,” he said with a wink. “It’ll make you stronger, you know.”
Before you could reply, another hand snatched it away.
“Absolutely not,” Solomon Sallow’s stern voice cut through the air. Your uncle gave Sebastian a look of pure warning, his eyes sharp with disapproval. “She doesn’t need you sneaking around with magic. She needs rest. A shrivel Fig cannot reverse a curse.”
Sebastian scoffed, his jaw tightening. “She needs more than just rest, Uncle. If we’d just-”
Your heart clenched. You had heard this argument a hundred times before.
Sebastian’s obsession with finding a cure.
Solomon’s desperate attempts to keep him away from dark magic.
And you- caught in the middle, growing weaker by the day.
A sudden wave of pain shot through you. You winced, gripping the table, your breath hitching. Immediately, Sebastian was at your side, one hand on your shoulder, concern darkening his features.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, voice urgent. “Are you alright?”
Solomon tensed, his gaze hardening. “Do you see what I mean, boy?”
Sebastian’s eyes flashed with anger. “I wouldn’t-”. But Solomon was already dragging him toward the door.
“Enough,” He snapped. “Outside. Now.”
Sebastian gritted his teeth but followed. The door slammed shut behind them, leaving the house in silence.
You exhaled shakily, closing your eyes.
And then- A presence. Someone still here. You opened your eyes-
And met his.
Remus. From Sebastian’s letters.
He was watching you from across the room, hesitation written in every tense line of his body. He hadn’t followed them outside. He had stayed.
Slowly, he stepped forward, then knelt down beside your chair. His golden-brown eyes, warm and steady, studied you, searching for something.
He reached out- then hesitated.
“You don’t have to pretend you’re alright,” He said softly.
The words unraveled you.
No one ever said it. No one ever acknowledged the truth- that you were dying. That it was okay. That you could be seen in the smallest of moments and the shortest of times- without needing to be fixed.
Sebastian fought against it.
Solomon ignored it.
But he saw it.
And somehow, that made it real. You swallowed hard. “I’m not pretending.”
He gave you a look, one that said he didn’t believe you.
Then, without another word- he sat beside you. And that was all.
At first, he was just a friend.
Sebastian had introduced him- a quiet but sharp-witted student, someone with more patience than most.
Someone who- unlike Sebastian- believed that saving you meant more than just breaking every rule. And yet, despite his caution, he couldn’t seem to stay away.
He would sit with you during your worst days, reading aloud from books when you were too weak to lift them yourself.
He would walk with you through Feldcroft, letting you lean against him when the world became too much.
And when Sebastian grew more reckless, diving further into dark magic, forbidden spells, anything that might bring you back from the brink-
Remus fought to hold him back.
But it wasn’t enough. Sebastian went too far. The darkness took root.
And even when he destroyed Solomon, even when he sacrificed everything- It still wasn’t enough.
But for Remus, no. For Remus it was enough. To sit by you, by the fire. To listen to you talk in your final moments. Your uncle gone and your brother lost to his mind.
He reached out and placed a hand over yours. And when your fingers interlocked, he sighed. Staring at the fire, until your fingers loosened around his hand.
Until, darkness.
The Pub, 1978
The world slammed back into place. The scent of stale beer and cigarette smoke filled your lungs, the dim glow of the jukebox flickered in your peripheral vision. Laughter and conversation hummed around you. The wood beneath your fingers was real. Solid. Present.
But your body? Your mind? You had been somewhere else.
Across from you, Remus was shaking.
His breath came quick, his golden-brown eyes blown wide- not with confusion, but recognition. His hand still hovered where it had just brushed against yours, his fingers trembling like they had touched something far more than skin.
Something ancient.
Something inevitable.
You knew him.
Not just from this pub. Not just from this life. You knew him from a hundred lifetimes ago. From the fox and the hound. From the princess and her lady-in-waiting. From the thief and the gentleman. From Feldcroft. From every time you had found him- and every time you had lost him.
And now?
Now you were back.
His lips parted slightly, a breathless sound escaping, like he wanted to say something- like he didn’t know what he could possibly say.
You swallowed, heart pounding, the weight of a thousand lives pressing against your ribs.
“Remus,” You echoed again.
His fingers curled into a fist. His entire body tensed. And then, just as you saw him understand, just as his expression shifted, just as the words I remember nearly fell from his lips-
The door to the pub slammed open.
The moment shattered.
And then?
He did nothing.
Because what could he do?
What could you do?
Say it out loud? Confess to an impossible truth? Tell him that you had died in his arms over and over again?
That this time- this life- he had to stop it?
So you didn’t say anything.
You just sat there. Staring at each other.
Breathing.
And for now, that had to be enough.
Because in every life before, you had never feared the darkness. Just the loss.
~~~
The Great Hall buzzed with conversation. The sorting ceremony had ended, students were chatting excitedly, the feast had just begun. Plates were piled high, goblets filled with pumpkin juice.
Across the room, Teddy Lupin laughed, running a hand through his hair, which shifted colors between turquoise and soft brown as he spoke. His friends chuckled at something he said, shoulders bumping together, the easy comfort of a childhood spent side by side.
Then-
A hand brushed against his.
His laughter stilled.
The world tilted.
It was nothing.
A casual moment, an accidental touch. A transfer student- someone new, someone unfamiliar- reaching across the table to pass a plate of pastries.
But the second their fingers touched-
A jolt.
Something cold and distant- like the echo of a dream he couldn’t quite recall.
Teddy’s fingers twitched. His breath hitched. The transfer student blinked, eyes flickering to his face, lips parting slightly, as if they had felt it too- as if they knew.
Teddy swallowed. His heart pounded.
And then-
He pulled his hand away.
Just a little too fast. Just a little too tense.
His friends didn’t notice. The conversation continued around them. But the transfer student frowned, staring down at their hand for a moment too long, brows furrowing, like they had just remembered something they weren’t supposed to.
Teddy flexed his fingers beneath the table.
His mind whispered something.
Something about foxes and hounds.
Something about princesses and Ladies.
Something about picked pockets.
Something about darkened pubs and stolen moments.
Something about a name.
A name that felt like his and not his, all at once.
The world lurched- but just for a second.
And then?
The moment passed.
Teddy shook his head, forced a smile, and reached for his goblet like nothing had happened.
Like he hadn’t just felt the weight of every life before this one.
Like he hadn’t just remembered exactly what came next.
brb. currently screaming at the DETAILS of gelboys ep 1
(SOURCE © @virtualtadpole)
text version under the cut for readers' accessibility
I'll leave the raving about Boss and his team's meticulous craftsmanship to u/ThoughtsAllDay and others, but man, there's so much detail packed in here, I had to take notes. Which wasn't easy while watching on iQiyi without VIP, as each time you inadvertently scroll back past an ad insertion point it forces you to sit through another minute of unskippable ads that just ended five seconds ago. Anyway, some thoughts:
The biggest question I had from the series reveal was whether it's going to be one of those works that could generate endless discussions of "Is this a BL?" And so far it sure looks like one of those works. This first episode is the sliciest a slice-of-life teen drama could conceivably be. Or maybe it just feels that way because it's so different, due to the fact that...
The entire series being shot on iPhone (though they just say "phone" because Apple isn't paying them) gives the whole thing such an indie guerrilla film vibe, which is interesting to say the least. The unrestrained depth of field, the sound design picking up on every little jingling of the charms and chains the boys have on their bags, result in this raw, artsy feel that is almost jarring compared to conventional production values.
The open environment alone sounds like a continuity nightmare, though not having paid much attention to the people and cars in the background, I didn't noticed anything egregious.
The opening toilet shot was... a choice.
The song Fourmod's mother plays in the beginning is เด็กมีปัญหา (Dek Mi Panha) by, of course, Four-Mod. It's one of the biggest early hits from the Kamikaze teen-oriented record label. Faye Fang Kaew is another of the label's first groups. You can tell their mother is a huge fan. (By the way, the iQiyi subtitles spelling Fourmod's name after his Instagram handle is really annoying. Hope they drop it soon.)
Fourmod said "this term" when asking to take the BTS, so it's probably the start of the second semester, i.e. November. Senanikhom Station opened in December 2019, while the entire northern extension opened in December 2020. Either Fourmod was referring to starting his P.6 and M.1 years after the station and line opened respectively, or the series is set in 2023.
I laughed at how they needed a disclaimer warning not to run up the escalators and to hold the handrail - clearly mandated by BTS the series sponsor. If you're wondering about the sponsorship, by the way, it probably just involved them making special arrangements for location access and not any cash - this was the case for the 2009 movie Bangkok Traffic (Love) Story, which revolved almost entirely around the BTS. Here, the lack of crowds during the morning rush hour points to most of the people probably being hired extras.
The BTS got plenty of indirect advertising in exchange, of course. Fourmod buying the monthly pass seemed almost forced at first, but was soon leveraged to explain why he didn't know how to tap out of the system, since he'd presumably only used single tickets before. (Like Thoughts said, the attention to detail is incredible, with things like these that you have to zoom in to even notice.)
The depictions of locations are so super specific to reality, almost as if this were a documentary. The school is fictional, of course, but it's slotted into the exact location of Watpathumwanaram School in real life, and everything around it, including the path of the students' commute, is real. Don't know why they'd take a tuk-tuk instead of walking 400 metres to Siam Square, though, as the traffic is totally impossible.
I have no idea how much creative liberty they're taking with the school's flexibility with body accessories, electronics, and transgender students. I'm sure the creators based it on what's possible at some actual schools nowadays, but I can't tell how realistic it is for the setting at all. Very much appreciate the variability in the lengths of the students' shorts as a reflection of their personality, though, as it's rarely seen on screen anymore.
I raised an eyebrow at Fourmod asking for extra MSG in his fruit dip. (The subtitles mistranslate it as "chili salt".) Didn't even know it was a thing - usually it's just sugar, salt, and chilli - but apparently recipes that also add MSG aren't uncommon.
I'm about curious about the passage of time. Their painted nails almost growing out suggests probably two months passing during each of the time jumps, but that would be almost the entire school term already.
It's funny to imagine how they got Yuedpao as a main sponsor. Their shop is actually opposite Kantima Salon, one wonders whether it's a coincidence or they found the location first, then got the sponsorship later.
The Kluay Kluay banana dessert shop was clearly included to keep older viewers connected - it's probably the only Siam Square location in the entire episode that's recognizable to someone who knew the place from the 2000s. Heck, the neighbourhood has changed so much recently, few of the scene locations would have looked like shown even five years ago.
Which brings me to my final point and main impression from the episode: Everything in it feels so deliberate in its depiction of today's youth culture. Which is of course what the creators set out to do. But the thing is, I (and probably most Millennial and older viewers) can't quite tell how accurate it is. I trust that the team did their research well, and on the whole it feels real enough, but the script's particular references, slang and vernacular might as well be a foreign language. It feels rather eerily uncanny how changed some things have become in the space of a generation, and yet how familiar some things remain.
A/N RANT: I find writing easy. I just splat ideas down on the page. It’s the editing that really gets me. I spend so much time deleting and rewriting, googling synonyms because somehow I’ve managed to use the same word 4,000 times in the last twenty sentences. Agonising over the wording and then Word for some reason trying to make me spell things in american. Then the grammar actually sends me over the edge, Word telling me that there should be a comma, so I add a comma and then no that’s wrong there shouldn’t be a comma there. It actually makes me go feral. Anyway, if anyone wonders why it takes me so long to post more parts, these are some of the reasons.
Chapter 1
It had taken a little over a month for your father and your entourage to reach the castle of Winterfell. As you journeyed, the number of layers and furs you wore in the carriage increased, each piece a necessary defence against the northern chill. It was the last day of the trip, and you were thankful it had finally come to an end, eager to sleep in the same bed for more than one night in a row. You stepped up into the carriage and turned to your father, who was already seated, his expression one of calm reassurance. "Almost there," he said, his voice steady as he attempted a smile.
You averted your gaze, sitting down and looking out at the landscape that unfolded outside. A heavy blanket of snow cloaked the ground, transforming the world into a vast, seamless expanse of white. The trees stood tall and skeletal, their branches laden with frost that sparkled like diamonds in the weak and low winter sun. Occasionally, the wind howled through the barren branches, sending a shiver down your spine and creating an eerie symphony that filled the otherwise still air.
The world outside seemed lifeless, devoid of colour and warmth—how you longed for the vibrant greens and the golden hues of the south, of home. You hadn’t seen an animal for more than a week, and the silence felt oppressive, magnifying the sense of isolation that you felt. Your mind wandered to what your sisters would be doing right now, likely studying or playing in the garden with your mother watching sewing something beautiful as she always was. A lump formed in your throat as you thought about how long it would be until you saw them again. This new landscape was as much a part of your new life as your upcoming marriage; it revealed in its stark beauty but also served as a constant reminder of the challenges that lay ahead. With the shutter closed, you felt a growing knot of anxiety within you, the weight of the impending changes heavy as the snow that blanketed the ground.
At some point, you had fallen asleep, though you couldn't recall when. The anticipation of the day had kept you awake through most of the night, and the uncomfortable seat of the carriage left your body aching. But then, the resounding blast of trumpets heralding your arrival jolted you from your sleep.
“Are we here?" you asked, glancing at your father, whose expression was distant, as if lost in thought.
"Yes," he replied, turning his gaze to meet yours.
"How long do we have before meeting the Starks?" you asked, smoothing your clothes and hoping the nap hadn’t left your hair in disarray.
"Lord Stark will greet us as soon as we step out of the carriage," your father replied, straightening in his seat.
"What? Aren’t we meeting in the hall after we've freshened up?" you exclaimed, taken aback by the immediacy, realising just how soon you'd face the man who’d share your future.
"Ah, but they're Northerners," your father said with a dismissive wave, "They'd find you lovely even in rags." The carriage lurched forward, jolting you both, as your heart raced.
You thought you would have just a little more time, a chance to gather your thoughts and brace yourself for the momentous introduction. Panic rose inside you as it became clear you had mere minutes before meeting the man who would be your husband.
Your heart raced with a flurry of questions and doubts. Would he be as the tales described—harsh and unyielding as the Northern winters—or might there be warmth beneath the layers of fur and Stoic silence? The uncertainties swirled, each more daunting than the last, wrapping around your thoughts like a relentless blizzard.
You fidgeted with the edge of your cloak, trying to calm the rising tide of unease. What if your mannerisms seemed too foreign, your presence too delicate for the rugged North? At this moment, you realised your entire future might rely on one singular, daunting introduction.
You focused on your breathing, counting each inhale and exhale slowly to five, as your mother had taught you to do in moments of unease. Her voice echoed in your mind, recounting stories of Lord Cregan Stark and how he had become the embodiment of his house’s strength. At just seventeen, he had fought for power against his uncle, rallying the North to his cause and earning the legendary title of the Wolf of the North.
Now, at twenty-five, he was widely renowned as the most powerful man in the region, with whispers even calling him the King in the North. His influence stretched far, untethered by the intricacies of southern politics. In the refuge of your measured breathing, you hoped to draw some comfort from the formidable reputation of the man who would soon become your husband. Could a man so brilliant at war be kind?
The carriage came to a rest, jolting you back to the present, you looked at your father, who attempted to give you a reassuring nod as the door of the carriage swung open. He moved through it first, giving you a precious few moments to prepare yourself before he turned and extended his hand inside the carriage to help you out and down.
The cold hit you first, making you draw a sharp breath, the icy air burning your lungs. For a brief moment, you looked around and watched as snowflakes danced in the chilled air, touching gently on Winterfell's ancient stone façade. You stepped out, the snow crunching beneath your feet, you were thankful for your father's firm grasp on your hand, worried for a moment that without it, you would slip.
The northern air was sharp and invigorating, a biting chill that seemed to permeate the very fabric of everything it touched. It was the kind of cold that, if endured for too long, would nestle deep into your bones, leaving a lingering reminder of the North’s untamed power. Pulling your thick cloak more tightly around yourself, you sought its warmth and comfort, a shield against the relentless chill.
Your father stepped forward with the practiced grace of his station, turning to address the Northerners who had assembled to witness your arrival.
"Greetings House Stark, I am Lord Borros Baratheon, of the House Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End. I have come to present to you, my daughter." His voice was, steady and confident. It carried over the soft whisper of the wind, acknowledging the strength of the Northern families and the significance of the union that would soon bind Baratheon and Stark.
He turned to you and gestured for you to step forwards, and you did, curtseying to the group. Your eyes swept over the crowd of Northerners—a sea of rugged faces hardened by the winter landscape. And there he stood, amidst them, undeniably Cregan Stark. His towering form was enveloped in commanding furs, every inch the lord who embodied the unforgiving north. He looked younger than you thought he would, hearing stories of how the north aged you beyond your years made you worried about what you would be confronted with up getting here.
Cregan stepped forward with an elegant grace, offering a formal bow. Yet, the warmth in his eyes spoke an unspoken promise of understanding and curiosity.
"Welcome to Winterfell," his voice resonated, deep and steady, his accent thick.
Your father and Cregan began discussing the plans for the coming days, their voices a steady hum amidst the towering stone walls of Winterfell. You followed closely behind them, the chill of the Northern air slowly giving way to the warmth of the hall, its fires crackling and casting flickering shadows that danced across the ancient stone.
Eventually, you found your place on a chair, one of many surrounding a small table strewn with maps and parchments that detailed the intricacies of alliances and strategies. The gathering of lords settled into their respective seats, enveloping the table in a sense of purpose and gravitas. Your father leaned forward, engaged in discussions about the expectations of this union, emphasising duty and honour—the very fabric of noble life.
As they spoke, a few lords occasionally cast friendly glances in your direction, but you could sense the unspoken rules that governed the conversation. This was not the sort of assembly where women were expected to voice their thoughts; instead, you listened intently, absorbing the dialogue around you. It was both fascinating and daunting, a whirlwind of responsibilities that felt far removed from the warmth of family gatherings you had known.
You were taken aback that they allowed you to sit at the table at all, a privilege that your father would never have granted you in the South. Perhaps the customs were different in the North, a notion that intrigued and unsettled you. As your gaze wandered around the assembly, it landed on one woman at the table—until that moment, you hadn't realised she was among them.
Dressed in masculine attire, she seemed to blend right in with the lords surrounding her, sitting tall and confident as they addressed her with the same respect reserved for their male counterparts. It was a striking sight, one that momentarily pulled you from your anxious thoughts about the future.
Then, the unexpected happened; she caught your eye and offered a warm smile that brightened her otherwise stern countenance. Heat rose to your cheeks as you realised you had been staring. Quickly, you turned your attention back to Cregan, the man you were to marry, feeling the weight of the room around you as you grappled with the complexities of your new reality.
Cregan Stark was a striking figure to behold, towering head and shoulders above your father, making it instantly clear why others held him in such high esteem. His presence conveyed more than mere physical stature; as soon as he began to speak, his demeanour and the way he carried himself revealed the essence of a man of honour. Unlike the tall men of the South, who seemed like a gust of wind might send them hurtling over the battlements into the sea, Cregan's stature was built broad and firm.
The cloak draped over his shoulders only added to his impressive build, yet you could tell at a glance that this was a physique forged through hard work and rigorous training, not by indulgence in luxuries. Every movement hinted at discipline and strength, an embodiment of the Northern spirit you had heard so much about.
Your eyes focused intently on his face as he spoke, captivated by the way his shoulder-length brown hair framed his features, catching the light to highlight the rugged lines that undeniably spoke of his Northern lineage. Cregan had a strong jaw, lending a chiseled quality to his visage that perfectly complemented the air of unyielding determination he exuded.
But it was his piercing blue eyes that truly drew you in—striking and deep, they seemed to hold an entire world within them. In contrast to the often stark demeanour he carried, those eyes contained an unexpected warmth, like a flickering flame against the cold backdrop of winter. There was a kindness in their depths, a silent promise that perhaps beneath the fierce exterior lay a man capable of tenderness and understanding. With every glance, you felt the pull of his gaze, an invitation to see beyond the bravado and discover the complexities that made him who he was.
He turned and met your eye, and it took you a second to realise that he had asked you a question, you looked around the room at the lords. All poised to listen to your response. You looked to your father for guidance.
"You'll have to excuse my daughter, the journey north has been long. However, I do think that she has enough strength left to accept your suggestion of a tour of Winterfell." he smiled at Lord Stark, who looked from you to your father, an understanding smile playing on his lips as he worked out you hadn't been paying attention.
He didn’t say anything, didn’t expose your lapse in concentration, just stood and shook your father's hand. You stood too as all the other lords stood and moved towards the door. You watched as they filtered out of the room, your father and Cregan being the only two aside from yourself still left in the room.
"Well, I would say that no chaperone is required, it is said that no one in the realms have as much honour as the Starks." your father said, resting his hand on the hilt of his sword as he looked between the two of you.
He nodded and gave you a small smile and turned to leave the room, the guards at the door opening and closing the door. You felt the resounding boom of the door closing in your chest as it seemed to echo around the entire room. The room seemed smaller as you looked from the door to Lord Stark, he looked so much more intimidating now it was only you in the room.
"My Lady, what part of Winterfell would you like to see first?" he asked stepping towards you.
"I- I don’t know." you whispered, finding it too difficult to look him in the eye.
"May I?" he asked, gesturing to your cloak which you had removed and placed on the back of your chair.
You nodded, he carefully picked it up and placed it over your shoulders, you moved your hands to do up the buckle that would secure it to your body and turned to Lord Stark. The massive sword slung across his back caught your attention, its hilt visible above his shoulder—a symbol of the strength and legends whispered in the halls of your childhood home. It seemed a natural extension of him—an embodiment of Cregan Stark, the warrior and the lord.
He smiled down at you, warmth and friendliness lighting up his features. With a gentle tilt of his eyebrow, he extended his elbow towards you, inviting you to take it.
"Well, I shall show you my favourite parts of the castle, and then we'll join your father and the other lords for a late tea," he said, his deep voice smooth and rich, like honey.
You nodded, not trusting yourself to speak, as you took his hand and allowed him to guide you out of the room. Agreeing to marry someone you had never met was undoubtedly a gamble, fraught with uncertainties. Yet, with this match, a sense of hopefulness stirred within you—a feeling as if you had struck gold in a world tarnished by rusted steel.
Your thoughts drifted back to the moment you first learned of your betrothal. That night, your mother had remained by your side, holding you close as you cried, part of you mourning your childhood and the other terrified of the future. She assured you that everything would be alright, words you initially dismissed as just the comforting words you say to someone when they're crying.
But now, with time and distance, you started to see that moment in a different light. There was a certainty in her voice that had been unwavering, and it made you wonder if she had played a part in your match with Lord Stark. Her confidence lingered in your mind, suggesting that perhaps this match carried more promise than you dared to imagine in those initial, tear-filled moments.
Winterfell was a beautiful castle, said to be one of the oldest still standing. As Cregan showed you around, you noticed something different in the way he spoke. Unlike most men, who seemed more interested in proving themselves smarter than you by belittling or over-explaining, Lord Stark had a unique approach.
His way of speaking about the castle and its history felt more like listening to a passionate teacher than a rehearsed lecture. He engaged you with stories, making each tale and detail come alive, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of respect and curiosity grow within you. It was refreshing and made you appreciate not only Winterfell, but also the man guiding you through its storied halls.
He had suggested that the two of you look out over the battlements before retiring to the great hall for something to eat. The climb up to the battlements was more challenging than you had anticipated. The stairs were far narrower than any you had navigated at Storm's End, making you marvel at how men clad in armour could swiftly manoeuvre them during times of war. Yet, as you reached the top, the sight that greeted you was nothing short of breathtaking—a vast, snowy landscape stretching as far as the eye could see. There was a vast expanse of forest in the distance, but even that was coated in snow.
Your home back in Storm's End prided itself on its massive walls for protection against invaders. However, here at Winterfell, the tall walls paired with its isolated, formidable position in the North presented a different kind of strength. The harsh, unforgiving landscape surrounding Winterfell seemed an ally to its defenders, an icy gauntlet capable of claiming the lives of unprepared southern soldiers long before they could even reach the walls. The beauty and latent power of the scene sent a shiver through you, a reminder of the resilience required to thrive in this raw and rugged part of the world.
"There is a small moat hidden by the snow at the bottom of the wall," Cregan began, his gaze shifting to you with a knowing glint in his eyes, as if he was sharing a secret of the North only a few were privy to. "If aren't aware of it and attempt to climb the wall, you sink into snow taller than a man."
You withdrew your hand from the warmth of your fur muff, moving to grasp the metal handle fixed to the wall, hoping to steady yourself for a better view over the battlements. The chill of the metal immediately shot through your fingers, contrasting sharply with the cozy warmth of the muff.
"Agh," you gasped, yanking your hand away from the frigid metal.
Before you could even check for injury, Cregan Stark's gloved hand enveloped yours with a surprising gentleness. He looked down at your hand, his thumb softly brushing across your palm, sending a tingle through your skin. "Careful, My Lady," he murmured, his voice carrying a deep, soothing timbre. "Warm hands stick to cold metal. You could lose some skin if you're not careful."
You grimaced at the thought and glanced back at the metal, reassuring yourself that none of your skin lingered there. "It burns,” you whispered, eyes dropping to the red mark on your palm.
Cregan's gaze met yours, holding a mix of concern and something unspoken. He raised his hand to his mouth, biting the finger of his glove and pulling it off, his breath misting in the cold air. He placed his large, now bare hand over yours, its warmth seeping through your skin, soothing the sting of the cold. His touch seemed to linger longer than necessary, then he removed his hand from yours and pulled the glove from his mouth.
"Careful my Lady, the cold burns sometimes more than fire." He remarked, eyes locked on yours, before slipping his hand back into the glove with deliberate care. "We ought to get you some gloves." His voice carried both practicality and an undercurrent of tenderness that surprised you.
He offered his arm once more, and this time, as you looped your arm around his, the touch felt more intimate, more charged. You tucked your hand back into your fur muff, your hand still feeling the ghost of his.
If I could be self-indulgent, how would Gale care for an overworked, overwhelmed, constantly on the verge of a breakdown tav?
Anon, I feel you! This is the perfect question to kick off another Monday and, dear god, the start of yet another workweek. Come, take my hand as we escape The Horrors©️ of emails, Teams chat, and all political news. Instead, we’ll daydream about perusing the shelves of Sorcerous Sundries with our lovely wizard husband.
The same wizard husband who, by the way, would do anything and everything to ensure that his beloved Tav was not pushed to the point of being overworked & overwhelmed. Being a man of considerable magical talent, he’s extremely experienced with invisibility spells and making things disappear; so you’d best believe he’d do everything in his power to make Tav’s stressors disappear completely.
But! Even the most carefully laid plans sometimes fail, and I do think there would be occasions where Tav would be stressed, despite Gale’s attempts to prevent it. In those instances, he’d have to adopt a different approach.
Anon, perhaps you may have heard of the two great scholars I mention below? Several years ago, these two brilliant individuals concocted a flawless strategy to de-stress and practice self-care. A strategy they called…“Treat yo self”!
Gale Dekarios adheres firmly to this strategy in his care for a stressed Tav, using all of the following:
Comfy clothes for Tav (from Gale’s own Waterdeep tailor)
Soothing fragrance/candles/bath oils
Mage hand massages at Tav’s request
Mimosas & brunch served to Tav in bed, prepared by Gale
Fine leather-bound books (Gale might also purchase a book or two for himself 😇)
And not to mention, lots and lots of wizard smooches. Which, along with the massages/scented baths, may or may not lead to other, uhhh…potentially de-stressing activities. 🥵
Suffice it to say, anon, Gale will ensure that Tav will be stress-free and blissfully relaxed in no time at all.
#Gale would like to take this opportunity to remind you all to TREAT YO SELF#Thanks for the ask!#bg3#gale dekarios#baldur's gate 3#gale x tav#galemancer#answered ask#gale of waterdeep
Guess whos back on their Che’nya theory shit again. Me.
Also some of this is just me going on about random and absolute far stretched shit, but hopefully the majority makes sense to y’all.
I’m about to sound batshit insane and this is going to be some MatPat sounding shit but here we go anyway.
WARNING‼️⚠️ MAJOR BOOK 7 SPOILERS AHEAD. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
———————
I just made the realization that Che’nyas UM and already natural abilities we’ve seen puts him in a position to be deadass playing the Floor is Lava with Malleus as the lava rn.
They wouldn’t have told us his UM in the main story if it didn’t matter somehow. They had the opportunity to show us Neiges in Rooks dream, yet didn’t, so it isn’t a heres RSA UMs for for shits and giggles thing, and we don’t know ANY of the teachers UMs, so it isn’t a “filling npc” thing either.
In EVENTS, we learn the UMs of only the very important and/or dangerous characters. Rollo, Skully, and Fellow. (Geez, Halloween trio now that I think of it).
Do we know Dylia Spades? No. Do we know Eric Schronheits? No. Do we know Ambrose the 3rds? No. Do we know Elizas? No, we get slapped. Do we know Najima Vipers? No. (She might not have one yet tho but still).
These characters are all confirmed as mages, or not directly said to be magicless, so it’s fair to assume they are mages.
So they told us Che’nyas UM for a reason. Why?
Like if his UM makes him invulnerable to magic/attack and invisible, and straight up on ANOTHER PLANE OF EXISTENCE, then if he’s not technically “all there”, Malleus wouldn’t be able to sense him.
Plus, this would explain how Orthos body was floating on the water when STYX found it, as when we know Orthos HEAVY AF, and would more than likely sink, since I doubt they had the time to build in something inflatable enough to balance that weight.
To boot, Ortho was at the docks, which from the map, is super close to RSA.
(Both normally and under Mals spell)
The Cheshire Cat is the one who gets Alice out of Wonderland (In the movie, the tunnel Alice runs through matches the Cheshire cats color and stripes + He’s the only one not chasing her+ in the OG book, the Cheshire Cat is more of a Guide and the only one who really sticks with and helps Alice for the whole shabang), and if he’s in RSA, then I think the writers know that.
Aswell as the fact Che’nya appears in both Books with “Tyrant” in the name, and the Cheshire Cat is the only person completely immune to the Queen of Hearts control, as the second most powerful being in wonderland next to LITERALLY TIME ITSELF.
Look in most Disney Villain Line-Ups, and you’ll find the Cheshire Cat. Why? Marketing, the Cheshire Cats a popular character that isn’t directly portrayed as a hero, and more as a mysterious reoccurring character that isn’t necessarily seen as a helper unless you squint.
Additionally, we’ve seen Che’nya use flight, self gravity control, teleportation(unconfirmed but implied on that one) and use his UM for extremely long periods of time, and now that I think of it, we’ve never seen it wear him down, even without the lack of a magestone on his design.
And anyway, in the manga, he’s been doing such things since before we meet him for the first time at age 8-9 from Rids perspective.
Which means long enough that he basically has full control over it at that age, so probably either since birth or very, very young.
Which gives us the know that unlocked his UM way before meeting Riddle and mastered it, which means likely as a literal toddler woke up one day and went “Hey what if I just fucked off to another plane of existence and became both invisible and invulnerable, while capable of movement and communication on this plane the whole time.”
Now back to Book 7.
So heres what caught my attention, Silver mentions the only people he can pop into the dreams of are people he has connections with.
Seeing as we get Sebek first crack out of the box, and then Lilia, this makes sense.
However, it falls off when the next people start to be people Silver either doesn’t know, or very loosely knows.
Yes, I understand the commercial and writing point is meant to be a dorm countdown, but it would make far more sense to be a Russian Roulette, kind of upping the anticipation of whos next.
But to me, with what we know of Silvers connections, it would make far more sense to have the second years be first after Dia, then maybe the third years that he knows because of Lilia, and finally the first years, still leaving room for Ace to get his UM towards the very end.
Now if we drive this back to my Che’nya playing Yuu’s guardian angel theory, it would make more sense to start with Pomfieore after Igi, because not only is it recent connections, so probably easier to bring to the forefront of Silvers UM, it gives him time to get up to NRC right after pushing Ortho or simply getting him out safely.
Before you mention malleus’s barrier, Che’nya gets past NRCs barrier that took STYX heavy power shots to break like its every other tuesday, without Crowleys notice aswell, he stands a viable chance of slipping past Malleus’s.
If he can jump to another plane of existence in which he is invulnerable to magic, theres nothing stopping him from sliding past to get Ortho out and slipping back in under Malleus’s nose.
It also gives him a good “oh shit” moment and an idea of the root of whats happening.
And if I’m wrong and he can’t teleport, he can latch on to Malleus (possibly referencing the Cheshire Cat latching onto the Queens back after she gets a card solider executed I think) to teleport with him back to NRC.
With that, he could be preventing Silver OBing by basically shattering the shade/phantom before it can even do anything, while also hiding Idia being awake. That, or basically lending Silver magic enough to keep going while praying to god Mal doesn’t notice.
Lilia playing the worlds most dangerous game of tag with Mal in dreamland gives him the distraction he needs for this aswell, and it could be that everything went to shit around Trey-Riddles Dreams, and Che’nya popped in to speed up the process and or Dream Che’nyas revealing his UM kinda got his ass caught by Mal, or caused Mal to finally detect a disturbance in the force.
So if I’m right with the previously theorized Guardian Angel thing, Che’nya could be hotwiring Silvers UM to send Silver and co to the people he remembers helped Yuu and the rest recently without risking Malleus putting two and two together on who could be fucking with the dreams other than Silver, depending on how he was portrayed in Trey and Rids Dreams.
Though it would be hilarious if with the Floor is Lavaing it he was also Night at the Musueming it and just repeatedly moved each dreamer closer to Silver physically so they’d have a physical connection (like pinky to pinky or head to head) and basically had Malleus doing a eyebrow raise everytime he turned around trying to figure out if that person had been moved or he was seeing things until he realized there was an exponentially large group around Silver that definitely wasn’t there before.
Another thing: We know the Three Good Fairies weren’t affected by Maleficent’s curse and are the ones to untie Philip when he’s caught and give him the Sword and Shield, which his has, and loses all but the sword in the fight against Maleficent, the Sword and Shield which in the Og twst Trailer that scene is likely referenced by Silver as the Sword (duh) and Sebek as the Shield, with Lilia where Philip would be, although his arm is raised higher.
You kinda have to flip Sebek and Silvers positions but yea.
Sebek being Virtue is self explanatory. He strives to have the virtue of a knight worth of Malleus, and shows this in many ways, but his faults are his rudeness, arrogance, biased or generally rude assumptions, and overexaggertion, stemming from his own internilzed racism (or speciesism? I guess?) , which lead many others to not want to be around him, deflecting the truth of his heritage as to not focus on his own insecurities like a shield to an attack, no matter who its from, in a way.
Now that he has begun to bond and not be as rude to the rest of the non fae cast however, he ends up passing out? Like how a shield seemingly has no use if its not defending, unless you get real creative with it (Its Reyn time I mean who said that)
Silver balances this out as truth, as he is someone we see is honest to almost no fault. His UM also shows truth, in its own way, by showing the truth of the desires of those around him. However, a truth has also been held directly from him, aka the truth of his birth, and the undeniable truth that to break the curse upon him, Lilia did have to truly love him, even as the child of his friends killer.
So he is both benefited and harmed by truth, just like how the same sword can both protect and kill, it just depends on who wields it.
Anyway, back to the point at hand, Now that Malleus seemingly has the time to go and pull a FNAF 4 at Idias door, the odds are Lilia may have somehow gotten caught or restrained (like Phillip is) for enough time to have Malleus notice the Shrouds are pulling shenanigans on his private dream servers and feel the need to go confirm this.
The way in the movie the Three Good Fairies are caught hiding Aurora by Maleficent in the first place is by getting too cocky on the day before Aurora’s B-day and using magic like crazy, fixing up and making their “gifts” much better, as they didn’t know how to create them without magic.
These gifts? A Cake by the GREEN fairy, the calmest and most mature of the three: Fauna, and a Dress, which the RED AND BLUE FAIRIES Merryweather (the most rebellious yet sensical) and Flora (the leader, most work focused and overconfident) keep fighting over which color it should be, Pink or Blue.
(I rewatched their scenes and I forgot how much of a fucking MVP Merryweather was, everyone else turning things into rainbows, bubbles and flowers while my girl was out here burning chains, hunting down snitches, turning her mfking ops to stone and had to be physically held back from throwing hands with Maleficent by herself, god bless this tiny blue diva)
Fauna can obviously be placed as Trey here. Calmest, a Cake, Green. Done.
You can combine Flora and Merryweather into the two sides of Riddles Dream, the first being very punk yet sensical lifestyle, the blue, bringing in the sadness of what he desired yet cannot have, and the second half being Flora, the extremes of overconfident and tyrannical leadership, the red of rage, to say.
Red and Blue obv equal Purple, Che’nyas signature color, probably because purple isn’t actually a fucking color. I’m not going to explain the history of purple, but there is not such thing as purple in science, only shades of violet.
Speaking of Pomfieore, the first non dia dreamer group we see, is VIOLET. I said it. (Octavielle is Lavender, so no, not directly purple) Bright Red is Heartstabyl. (Scarabia is Maroon, which is a shade of red, but again, not directly bright red)
Now what I’m going on about here is this: If In the dreams, each dreamers NPC versions of their friends strictly abides by what the dreamer desires them to, how did dream Che’nya not only transfer to both parts of Riddles dream, but also go directly AGAINST the dream and the dreamer?
The dream versions of the others cannot, under any circumstances, break the character the dreamer creates without breaking the dream itself.
We see this in Lilias dream, in Treys, and Deuces. The Senate, Cater and Ace respectively breach the line of what is and isn’t in character for them in the dreamers memory to hold the dreamer within the dream, causing their respective dreamer to wake up sheerly due to the stark contrast.
These characters will go to lengths to keep the dreamer asleep, so how is it that this dream version of Che’nya can do the exact opposite?
And in Treys dream, Che’nya is the only one not practically turned into Eric Cartman variants, which given the fact Cater, certified sweets hater, has too, means that Che’nya, certified sweets stealer, somehow dodged that bullet in Treys subconscious, which breaks the rules set by the dream.
These rules are delicate, seemingly. It takes one too out of character word, one too out of character action to knock the dreamer awake.
So either Trey sees Che’nya as having the self control of a monk (a small scene in manga implies Che’nya steals from the Clovers fridge so often Treys own damn siblings hear the fridge open and assume its him and not their own damn brother, so I doubt that he’d think that) or Che’nya can bypass these rules.
Many of the dreams would have been so much easier if they could conveniently convince the dreamers friends to go up against them for their sake or just to simply help wake them up.
Of all people, the dream version of Ace fucking Trappola actually listening to and abiding by Riddles tyranny and not jumping at the opportunity to S.O.S to Leona, Yuu and co says enough about this as is.
Anyway, what I’m saying here is that Che’nya either got his ass caught, or finally managed to hotwire himself into Silvers UM conga line, which unfortunately left Idia now in Mals notice and Silver becoming more weary from excess UM use.
Just like how the good fairies thought they’d succeeded and jumped the gun with using magic a day early, Chen could have thought that since they made it this far, their clean until further notice, and is gonna feel the hit of it later.
As my phone is dying and I want a fucking nap, this has been Blues randomass rant about Che’nya again.
More at ???? Folks.
Sad SJ hour </3
what if Shen Qingqiu met Binghes mom Su Xiyan and was able to rescue both her and the fetus??
he takes her back to CQMS and over to Qian Cao peak, and some people start a rumor that SQQ knocked up a disciple from HHP and is now taking responsibility.
anyways rumors aside after SXY is healed she reveals what the HHPM did and how he forced her to take a poison to abort her baby but since she didn't want to she almost died.
Therefore with the information the new SQQ has on the HHPM he starts a plan to take over HHP and eventually is recognized as genuine threat by HHP.
The HHPM attempts to kill him by sending succubus demons to drain his life force. Instead SQQ and the demons become friends and create a peace treaty between CQMS and their group. He even talks to Madam Meiyin and after she tells him about his soulmate. SQQ doesn't believe her so MMY gives him potion that essentially works as a truth spell.
So SQQ uses that potion on YQY and gets him to reveal the secrets behind Xuan Su and why YQY "abandoned him."
Through the succubus demons help, SQQ also finds out that SQH had been selling CQMS out and instead of killing him they instead marry him to the Mobei Clan for another peace treaty between CQMS and the demons.
Then SQQ reveals what the palace master did, with the help of CQMS and some demons takes it over and becomes the NEW palace master.
anyways the demon realm wants TLJ to be released from his imprisonment and so does SXY because she js revealed that TLJ is the real father so SQQ as the new palace master has the power to do that and he does.
With his power as the PM and also with his wedding with YQY he's essentially one of the most powerful men in the world.
Therefore, he uses it to get rid of slavery give women more equal rights, as well as redirects wealth from the rich and gives it to people struggling with poverty and FINALLY gets his happy ending.
Pookie, how is this sad hours???
But also fully agree, tbh I think SJ and SXY could have been the besties of all time. Like they would be talking sooooo much shit about everyone. I also think she’s probably the only one who could get SJ to reconsider his position on demons.
Also madam Meiyin? Wingwoman of all time. Shout out her and her cutting through the bullshit plot devices.
As for the arranged Moshang marriage, it would be so funny if it was like, a demon cultural difference for MBJ to be in like a sold to one direction situation. Like “uncle sold me to Peak Lord Shang to secure an alliance, kyaaa!” SQH also thinks he’s in the same situation. They were both sold to one direction.
It would be too funny if upon TLJ’s release he started hitting on YQY, like “ohh you’re soooo strong mister cultivator, you beat me soooooo well” And it’s quietly driving SJ to deviate. Eventually he snaps infront of god and everyone “HE BELONGS TO ME. MINE ONLY.” And YQY gets so hard he passes out.
Lastly, shoutout comrade SJ. I want to see him become the people’s hero so bad
Prompt 8 - Arrow
@wolfstarmicrofic February 8, word count 688
“I told you not to open your stupid mouth!” Remus yelled at him as they tore through the forest.
“How was I supposed to know they’d take it the wrong way?!” Sirius squawked as he narrowly avoided the arrow aimed directly at the back of his head.
“Arrogant pureblood,” Remus darted sharply to the left and away from Sirius.
“Oi, Moony, don’t leave me!” Sirius chased after him and almost slipped down the steep bank. A hand shot out from below him and dragged him down and into the safety of a huge sycamore's unearthed roots.
He crouched close to Remus as Remus cast undetectable charms around them as the centaurs thundered overhead.
“They must have doubled back,” one said.
“Leave them, Feanor, they are not worth our time,” another answered.
“And do you believe such insolence should go unpunished, Lorin?” Feanor rebutted, stomping his hooves impatiently against the hard ground. Sirius pressed back into Remus as grains of soil trickled between the roots above him.
“They are young and foolish, Feanor; besides, I heard the wolf chastising his mate as they ran,” Lorin chuckled. “I feel nothing we can do to that young wizard will even be comparable to what the wolf has planned.”
“You may be correct,” Feanor conceded. “Let us return to the others and seek insight from the stars, they may let you know what path we should take.” The sound of hoofbeats faded away, and Sirius let out a shaky breath. He knew better than to rile up the centaurs, but that Feanor had rubbed him up the wrong way, and he couldn’t keep his mouth shut.
“Remus,” He said quietly. “Next time there are centaurs, cast a silencing charm on me, please.”
“With pleasure.” Remus let his head flop back against roots and earth.
They waited a while to make sure it was safe to move about the forest again. They headed back up to the castle and back up to their dormitory for hot showers and mugs of hot chocolate.
“What do you think he meant by ‘mate’?” Sirius asked. He’d found it an odd way to refer to him. They’d called Remus a wolf, which meant they knew what he was, so why had they referred to Sirius as his mate? Remus had turned bright red and was trying to hide it from Sirius.
“No idea,” Remus choked out, looking very uncomfortable. “Some weird centaur terminology. Head in the clouds, y’know.” Remus hurried ahead of him, leaving Sirius to ponder. Remus’s reaction had been just as odd as the centaur's words.
It was as he passed a couple who thought they were being sneaky, making out in an alcove that he was hit with understanding. The centaurs thought he and Remus were together, and Remus’s red face and sudden departure was because the centaurs had picked up on how Remus felt. Sirius broke into a run. He needed to find Remus now and ask him point-blank if that’s what it all meant, as he couldn’t let the spark of hope deep inside him reignite if the centaurs had got it wrong. Please don’t let them be wrong.
He caught up with Remus, and instead of asking him anything, he spun him around by his robes, stood on his tiptoes and kissed him. Remus’s lips were frozen beneath his, and he panicked, only for Remus to reach out and pull him into his body, kissing him back. The spark inside Sirius flared into life, filling his entire body with heat.
“Ten points from Gryffindor,” Professor McGonagall barked behind them, and they pulled apart, smiling shyly at each other. The second she was gone, Remus pulled him into a nearby broom cupboard and, using the spells he’d used in the forest, kept anyone from interrupting them before Sirius was pushed into the back of the cupboard. Remus kissed him again, more fervently this time. The centaurs were right. He vowed never to piss them off again. Well, apart from Feanor, perhaps. He stopped thinking about the centaurs when Remus’s knee pushed his legs apart and moved his own leg into the space.
Eye Contact
Pairing: Henry Winter x Fem!Reader
Summary: While you and the others are at a bar, you catch Henry staring at you intently, the tension between you thickening
The bar is dimly lit, lined with dark wood, and filled with the scent of something smoky—burnt orange peels from someone’s cocktail, maybe, or the ancient varnish of the counters, rubbed raw by too many hands, too many nights like this.
It’s late enough that the initial noise has settled into a comfortable hum. The six of you are pressed into the corner booth, shoulders brushing, the drowsy lull of alcohol softening the sharper edges of the day.
Richard is talking about Cicero, or was it Catullus? You haven’t been listening.
Not since Henry spoke.
He asked you a question. You can’t even remember how it started, what led to it. All you know is that his voice slid through the conversation, effortless, quiet but certain, pulling you into focus like a thread being wound tight.
And now, he is watching you.
No. Not watching—listening.
Henry Winter listens the way other men look: like the act itself is intimate, deliberate, a ritual performed with precise devotion.
You try not to waver beneath the weight of it.
His eyes—Christ, his eyes—are trained on you so intently it's as though your words are worth inscribing on stone. Eternum aliquid. Something eternal.
The corner of his mouth twitches—amusement, curiosity, like quiet, deep enjoyment, and you feel it ripple through the air between you, dark and warm, curling around your spine.
You don’t even remember what you were saying.
You take a sip of your drink, letting the cold bite of the glass steady you, force yourself to hold his gaze as you finish your thought.
"So, if you think about it, the retributive cycle in Aeschylus is never really broken," you say, and your voice is definitely steadier than you feel. "It doesn’t end. It just shifts. There’s no real absolution. No one’s hands are clean."
Henry hums, low in his throat, a quiet sound of approval. He tilts his head slightly, considering you. His fingers, long and elegant, trace absent patterns against the side of his glass, and his gaze hasn’t left yours once.
"No one’s hands are ever clean," he echos back. His voice is dark silk curling at the edges. "Not truly."
There is something in the way he says it.
A weight. A certainty. A knowing.
You feel it low in your stomach, warm and insidious, slipping beneath your ribs, pooling beneath your skin.
The moment stretches.
Henry doesn’t look away.
His pupils are blown dark, swallowing the blue. He looks sculpted from another time or an oil painting lost to the ruin of centuries. Or maybe both.
And he is looking at you.
You can feel it now, the unspoken thing between you, and it's heavy. A current humming beneath the surface, gathering strength, waiting to break.
The air shifts.
Henry’s lips part, just slightly, like he might say something—
"Good God," Bunny slurs, slumping back against the booth. "Do you two ever stop?"
The tension fractures. The spell, if that’s what it was, splinters under the weight of his voice.
You blink, exhaling a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding.
"What?" you frown.
Camilla smirks, twirling the stem of her glass between her fingers. "You do realize the rest of us are still here, don’t you?"
You open your mouth, but Charles cuts in smoothly, tipping his drink in Henry’s direction. "Not that it isn’t riveting to watch you two intellectually fornicate, but I’m beginning to feel like I should excuse myself."
A slow, quiet flush creeps up your neck.
You glance at Henry, half-expecting him to scoff, to roll his eyes, to dismiss the implication entirely.
But he doesn’t.
Instead, he lifts his glass to his lips, takes a slow sip of brandy, and watches you over the rim. He holds your gaze as he swallows, throat bobbing, fingers curling around the crystal.
There’s a darkness curling at the edges of his expression. Amusement... something that looks suspiciously like triumph.
You swallow hard.
Bunny groans dramatically, slamming his drink onto the table. "Oh, for fuck’s sake. I need another drink."
The others laugh and you force a smile, shaking your head as Richard mutters something about the dramatics of the group.
Henry doesn’t look away from you.
Not once.
-
Back at Francis’ house, the night is raw with cold, the air sharp enough to cut. Inside, Richard is likely asleep, Bunny sprawled in a room, snoring through his whiskey dreams.
But Henry is here, and so are you.
The porch is coated in a thin film of frost, glistening under the weak light of the moon. You stand just outside the threshold, arms wrapped around yourself, your breath curling in the air.
It’s too cold to be out here but neither of you go inside.
Instead, Henry withdraws a pack of cigarettes from his coat pocket, his movements slow. He doesn’t ask if you want one. He simply holds the pack out to you, gaze dark and unreadable beneath the low moonlight.
You take one.
His fingers brush against yours.
It’s nothing.
It’s nothing—but your breath catches anyway.
Henry watches you.
The way you fit the cigarette between your lips. The way the wind teases at the loose strands of your hair. The way you look at him as he lifts his own cigarette to his mouth, a quiet expectancy lingering between you.
Then—
A flick of his lighter. A brief flare of flame.
You lean in, and he lights yours first.
The heat flashes against your face, fleeting but vivid, and for a moment, you look at him through your eyelashes. You can see him in stark detail—the sharp cut of his jaw, the pale angles of his face, the way his lashes cast faint shadows against his skin.
Then the flame dies and you both inhale.
Smoke drifts lazily between you, curling at the edges of the cold.
"Do you always stare this much, or is it just me?" you murmur, exhaling a slow breath of smoke.
Henry hums, tilting his head slightly. "Do you always deflect with humour, or is it just me?"
You smile, taking another drag. "I don’t know. You tell me."
Henry exhales, the smoke slipping between his lips in a slow, calculated way, like everything he does.
"I think you like it," he says finally.
You blink. "Like what?"
"The way I look at you."
It’s not a question.
The cold does nothing to stop the warmth that rushes to your face.
You could argue. Laugh. Roll your eyes.
But instead, you only meet his gaze.
You hold it.
“You seem very sure of yourself,” you whisper.
Henry exhales another slow ribbon of smoke, gaze never leaving yours.
“I am.”
You swallow. Shift slightly, pressing the cigarette between your fingers.
The wind howls softly through the trees, cold air biting at your bare skin, but you don’t move to go inside. You’re caught in the thick and heavy smoke passing between the two of you.
It's dangerous.
Henry continues to watch you.
He waits.
But you don’t give him the satisfaction of looking away first.
So he does something else.
He places his cigarette on the ashtray, reaches out, so slowly that your breath stutters, and plucks the cigarette from your fingers.
Holds it between his own.
Raises it to his lips.
And inhales.
Something in your stomach tightens.
He doesn’t smirk. He doesn’t say anything at all. He simply exhales the smoke into the night, then—without looking away—reaches forward and presses the cigarette back between your fingers.
Your skin is warm where he touched you.
You hate that he knows it.
The silence lingers. The tension stretches, thin as a thread, taut enough to snap.
The faint sound of a door opening inside.
A creak. Footsteps. Someone moving in the house.
The moment shatters.
Henry takes another slow inhale of his cigarette, exhaling through his nose as he finally breaks eye contact, gaze flickering toward the door.
His voice—low, smooth, knowing, “You should get some rest.”
You swallow. Flick the cigarette away, watching as the embers scatter against the ground.
“Goodnight, Henry.”
He watches you slip inside.
Watches the door click shut behind you.
And then he exhales.
Petty Compensation
prompt. you accidentally take the wrong drink order, and the actual owner demands a sip as compensation
characters. scaramouche / wanderer x gn!reader
tags. modern au, attempt at humor
warnings. none
You don’t notice your mistake at first.
The cafe is busy, and you're distracted. Probably by the group of students arguing over a project in the corner or the fact that you only got four hours of sleep last night. Either way, you hear your name being called, or at least, you think it was yours.
Without giving it much thought, you grab the cup from the counter, take a sip, and wince at the unexpected bitterness. Still, you don’t question it and head back to your seat like nothing’s wrong. The cafe is packed and the staff seem overwhelmed that the barista doesn’t even notice who took the drink.
It’s not until someone clears their throat in front of you that you realize something might be off.
“That’s mine.”
You glance up, only to be met with sharp indigo eyes staring you down. The guy in front of you has striking deep blue hair, sharp jawline, and an expression that somehow manages to be both bored and vaguely irritated at the same time. He gestures toward the cup in your hand. “You took my drink.”
You blink at him, then at the cup. Then at him again.
Oh.
In your defense, it looks like your order. You squint at the scribbled name on the side, and sure enough, it’s not yours.
Kunikusushi, it says.
Either his parents had a grudge against him, or the barista completely butchered the spelling.
Still, regardless of how his name is written on the cup, one thing is clear. You already drank from it, which means—
“Oops?” you offer sheepishly.
His brow twitches. “Oops?”
“order for [name]!” the barista calls out.
You glance toward the counter, where another identical cup sits unattended. Your actual order.
You stand up to take it from the counter and offer it to the stranger. His intense stare burns into you the entire time. Shifting under the weight of it, you clear your throat. “Um, sorry. You can take mine instead?”
He looks unimpressed, eyeing the cup with clear disapproval. “My drink is made exactly how I like it. And you’ve contaminated it. I’d take it back but what if you have some kind of disease?”
“I don’t,” you deadpan.
He shrugs. “Can’t be sure.”
“Are you serious?”
He exhales through his nose, gaze flicking to the cup in your hands. “Fine,” he says, holding out a hand. “Give it here.”
You blink. “Wait, what—”
“If I can’t have mine untouched, I want compensation,” he says. “You took a sip of my drink. I’m taking one of yours.”
You gape at him. “That’s literally the same thing you were just complaining about.”
“Yeah, but this time it’s my choice.” He scoffs. “Give it.”
You hesitate but ultimately sigh, handing the cup over. He takes it, and without breaking eye contact, he lifts it to his lips and takes a slow sip.
Your brain short-circuits for a second.
As he swallows, immediately, his nose scrunches in utter disgust. “Ugh. How do you drink this?” He sets the cup on your free hand and glares at it like it personally offended him. “It’s sickeningly sweet.”
You raise a brow. “No one forced you to drink it, asshole.”
“Tch.” He wipes his mouth with the back of his hand, still grimacing. “Consider yourself lucky. I’m feeling merciful today.”
You scoff, crossing your arms. “Merciful?”
“You should be grateful I didn’t make you buy me a new one.” He smirks, sharp and infuriating.
You roll your eyes, but before you can throw a retort, he steps back, grabbing his actual drink from your hand.
“I’m taking this back. Try not to steal from me next time, thief.”
You sputter out incoherent words in disbelief. He could’ve just taken it from the start. “Petty!” You say back but he ignores you.
And just like that, he walks away, leaving you flustered, annoyed, and (frustratingly) just a little bit intrigued.
Wait. Next time?
You glance down at your drink and feel a small scrap of paper, torn from what looks like a receipt, clinging to the cup’s condensation. Scribbled across it in messy handwriting and bleeding ink is a string of numbers. His number.
Your cheeks flush and your mouth gapes.
Instinctively, your gaze flicks to the exit, searching for him. He’s already by the door, his own drink in hand, but just before stepping out, he glances over his shoulder.
The moment your eyes meet, he smirks. He knows you’ve found it. Then, without a word, he turns and disappears into the crowd outside.
You stare after him. Your heart knocking once against your ribs, skipping a beat.
Did he plan that from the start?
Snow Moon - February 2025
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f167a21ab975bf9cbd9afbf4e4d568b5/e1353271030cbcde-f7/s540x810/b0b7693480c70834336373dd408ad2563710fd76.jpg)
Boots and mittens on, witches - it’s time for the Snow Moon!
Snow Moon
The Snow Moon is the name given to the full moon which occurs during the month of February. Despite what certain groundhogs will tell you, February is the month that sees the highest rates of snowfall across much of North America, according to the National Weather Service, and many alternative names for the moon and the month in which it falls reflect this.
As with many full moon names, we find the roots of the Snow Moon among the indigenous peoples of North America. In this particular case, a colonist explorer noted in 1760 that the Naudowessie (Dakota) people called this month Snow Moon specifically due to the tendency for snowstorms to come during that month. Some other indigenous names for this moon and month refer to commonly-sighted animals. Some examples include Eagle Moon (Cree), Bear Moon (Ojibwe), Groundhog Moon (Algonquin), and Goose Moon (Haida). Another notable example is Hungry Moon (Cherokee), denoting the scarcity of available food in deep winter.
The moon will be at peak illumination at 8:53am EST on Wednesday, February 12th. It will be below the horizon at this time, meaning the moon may appear to be full on the 11th and the 12th, depending on where you live. It should be highest in the sky around midnight EST on the 12th - the perfect time for magic!
What Does It Mean For Witches?
February is a month of change and transition. Though winter still holds on, many places may be showing early signs of spring. Little buds may be coming out on the trees, certain species of birds are beginning to migrate back, and hibernating animals start to wake up and reappear.
As we begin to turn toward the end of our long winter’s rest, it’s a good time to think about how we prepare for oncoming change and how we care for ourselves and our practices during times of stagnation.
We might also contemplate the concept of distance and stasis as it relates to our practices, be it keeping long-distance bonds fresh, doing things remotely either alone or as part of a larger group, or feeling distant from your craft or your deities. And yes, such things are normal and cyclical. Our inspiration and motivation wax and wane just as the moon does. If it feels like you’ve been far away from your craft for too long, perhaps it’s time to bring it back into your orbit.
What Witchy Things Can We Do?
Gather fresh snow or icicles for moon water, or make your own moon ice by leaving a bowl of water out overnight to freeze, if the temperature drops low enough.
If it snows in your area, you can wish upon a snowball. Grab a handful of powdery snow, whisper your wish to it, and throw the whole thing up in the air to release the wish into the universe
With winter scarcity in mind, practice creating a minimalist spell as an exercise. Create a workable spell with as few components, words, movements, or ritual elements as possible. This is more of a challenge if you’re used to using material components or rituals in your spellwork. Many witches cast spells with focused thought or energy work alone.
You can also try creating a spell with only components and materials that you already have on hand. Explore your home and see how many items you can identify a magical purpose for and brainstorm different ways they could be used in your craft.
Explore the concept of self care as magic. Use your routines to create moments of rest and harmony, make a point of being kind to your body and your mind, and cultivate a more positive relationship with yourself - it’s the only one guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Connect with your local biome by looking for any early signs of spring in your area. Feed the returning birds and identify the plant and animal species you see around you as they appear one by one.
Happy Snow Moon, witches! 🌕❄️
i need more!!!!! wolstar + Sirius almost dies <3
And more you shall have!! This was so challenging for me because I usually find it a lot easier to write humor, but I hope I did this justice!!! ❤️
"Remus."
God there's so much blood. How can someone losing this much blood still be alive?
"Remus, baby."
There's so much blood!
And it's not stopping. He's throwing every single healing spell he can at it, but he didn't see the spell when it was cast, and all he has on him is his wand. He doesn't even see anything nearby that can stop the bleeding. His shirt is already soaked in it.
God, he's bleeding everywhere.
"Moony..."
"I know, I know, I'm sorry I'm trying everything I can, I know it must hurt-"
"Moony, my love..."
Remus feels shaking fingers skim his cheek. The coolness against his face lets him know that there's now blood—Sirius's blood—smeared where his fingers have touched.
"I'm trying! I'm trying just hang on-"
"Baby, look at me..."
Remus doesn't.
He focuses instead at the gaping wounds carved into Sirius's skin. He's helplessly moving his wand over the body below him, racking his useless fucking brain for anything, anything that will help. That will save-
"Remus, please look at me."
It's the please that finally rips Remus's gaze away from the injuries he's desperately trying to heal.
Sirius is breathing in ragged, painful wheezes, but his eyes are clear. He looks into deep grey eyes, dark like storm clouds, and feels his own well up immediately.
"Have I-" Sirius's voice is weak, "Have I ever told you..."
It looks like it's taking every last bit of his energy to get words out, but he's smiling slightly. Something sad and tired and resigned.
Remus can feel the grip on his fingers get tighter.
"You know, you look so- so sexy when you're freaking out."
Remus let's out a startled laugh that dissolves into a gasping sob.
He collapses onto Sirius, gripping his shoulders, his hair, any part of him he can reach as if he'll be able to keep all the life in him from bleeding out under his hands.
"Sirius, I'm so-" He lets out a broken sound, and it's loud in the empty room. "I'm so sorry, I'm sorry I'm sorry-"
"My love-"
"I'm so sorry, I can't fix it, I'm so sorry-"
He cries and cries, all the while Sirius is murmuring any and every word of affection he's ever said to Remus; like he needs to get them all out now. Like he'll never have another chance.
Baby-
My love-
Moony, darling-
I love you-
"I love you, I'm sorry, I love you-"
Remus feels Sirius go slack in his arms moments before he's ripped away from him—kicking and screaming and probably doing more damage than anything else.
He sobs into James's shoulder first, still standing in the safe house they were ambushed in just an hour before. He's covered in blood and can feel the rage in James's voice as he screams at Moody to leave them alone for fucks sake!
Then he cries again, this time with Lily. They're sitting in the waiting room at St. Mungos.
He cries now, gripping Sirius's hand while he lays motionless in a hospital bed. He's been waiting here for days, and every time he thinks he's done crying, the image of Sirius bleeding out beneath his fingers flashes behind his eyes.
The only sounds to be heard are from the healers in the hallway outside, and the small brokenhearted noises Remus is letting out as he cries.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're sexy when you're in distress?"
A croaky voice speaks, and Remus whips his head up to stare at the exhausted smile on his boyfriend's face.
"Sirius!" He's climbing onto the bed before he can even think about whether or not it might hurt the other man, "Sirius, oh my god! You were dead Sirius-"
"Well, you can't get rid of me that easy-"
"Oh my god, you were dead and I didn't know what to do, I couldn't fix it, I'm sorry-"
Sirius shushes him gently at that.
There are tears streaming down his face, and Sirius reaches shaky fingers up to wipe them away. They're both quiet for a beat.
"Is it an inappropriate time to mention that you crying gets me all hot under the collar?"
Remus laughs, smiling so big it hurts his cheeks, and leans down to pepper kisses across Sirius's face.
His forehead first. Then his nose. His jaw. His cheeks. His eyelids. His brow.
His lips.
In a moment he'll call in the healers. They'll want to look him over and check his wounds. He'll need to notify James, Lily, and Peter—they'd all gone home for a change and a shower—and the Order will need to be called as well.
Remus doesn't move to do any of that.
For just a little while longer he'd like to feel Sirius underneath his lips—so beautiful and brave, and so very alive.
Why is he so cold?
Fred Weasley x female reader
Summary - The battle of Hogwarts ended like none of you thought it would, with a greater loss than you could have ever imagined.
Warnings - Sadness, and my very crappy writing. I also didn't check for spelling errors.
Wow, the last post was in 2023. Writer's block is crazy. ANYWAY, please give tips and respectful criticism only. Other than that, enjoy!
_________________________________________
You honestly thought that you'd gone through all of the pain that someone could go through in their life.
Well, in your time at school, that is.
You survived a troll entering Hogwarts castle in your third year, courtesy of Percy directing you back to the common room.
You survived the chamber of secrets being opened in your fourth year, and many muggleborns being petrified. Along with Ginny, a girl who was like a little sister to you, going missing.
You survived dementors being sent to Hogwarts grounds in your fifth year when a supposed mass murderer escaped from Azkaban.
You survived the school-wide grieving loss of Cedric Diggory in your sixth year, along with attending the difference events for the Triwizard Tournament.
You survived an insufferable DADA teacher in your seventh, and final year at Hogwarts, who looked like the textbook definition of a pink toad.
And once you graduated from Hogwarts after Fred and George made their early, and rather glamorous, departure, you went on to being hired for the career you dreamed of ending up in during your time in Hogwarts. In your free time, when not spending time on your favorite hobbies, you loved to help Fred and George out with their shop.
Life had been good. So good. You and your friends had been through a lot together, and yet you persevered together. Shouldn't that be all their is to it? Shouldn't the chaos end there? There should be nothing more than marriage in the future, maybe kids if you and Fred decide you want them. You'd attend the wedding of whoever George decided to marry, as well as Lee and your other friends and family. You'd meet up with your friends from Hogwarts often, as well as colleagues from work, and You'd never be separated from those you love.
At least that's what you thought as you stared down at your boyfriend's body, fiddling with the promise ring around your ring finger.
You remembered the moment Fred had given it to you. It was around the time you graduated Hogwarts, and when you were hired for your new job.
He knew that proposing would be a bit too soon. He and George had just begun to grow their business, and he knew how hard you had worked to get into the career of your choice, and he'd never try to get between you and that. So, you both agreed to getting each other promise rings. A promise that you'd be there for each other. Grow together. Love each other, and support each other. A promise that you'd both help the other become the people you were meant to be for when marriage finally felt right for the both of you.
Now the ring was a reminder of what you'd never have.
You'd never marry the love of your life. The boy who was nice to you along with his brother during your first year at Hogwarts, when you were still trying to find good people to be friends with. The boy who wiped your tears and made you laugh whenever another student was mean, or a teacher made you sad. The boy who, over time, began to show just how infatuated with you he really was. The boy who eventually got the courage to ask you to the Yule Ball, and then ask you out during the summer after that school year ended, before your seventh year was to begin. To him, Cedric's death was a reminder that we should live every day as if it was our last, and to him, he wanted his last day on earth to be a day filled with fun, laughter, and love. And most of all, he wanted to be with the people he loved. You included.
None of it made sense. Was he really dead? No, he had to be just sleeping. Or playing one of his pranks that he loved so much. Sure, playing dead took things a bit far, but he always did commit to the pranks that he pulled. Right?
You were frozen in place, not knowing if you were numb, or about to fall to the ground in tears. When did you stop screaming? It was obvious you were in shock, but the moment felt so real and yet so fake at the same time. The only detail that you could process in that moment being the color of your boyfriend's hair, and a few drops of a liquid of the same color residing on a stone nearby.
A voice. A distant one. Or maybe multiple distant ones? You couldn't figure it out, but it sounded like maybe your name?
A tug. Or maybe a push. All you know is the world began to shift until you were facing. . . Fred? No, George. Merlin. They looked so similar. You never realized how painfully so until only one of them was alive.
George said your name again, and your eyes focused enough to see the visible tears filling his eyes, although he did his best to keep them from falling.
"We have to move him," he spoke softly, as he tried to stop another round of tears from falling himself, explaining that Voldemort had told them all to dispose of their dead after commanding for his death eaters to retreat for the time being.
"Move him." You repeated slowly, the words and the way they formed sounding confusing coming out of your mouth.
George only nodded, gently brushing some of the dirt on your face away from a cut that you had received on your forehead. "Yes, move him. We can take him to the Great Hall where the others are being brought, and then I promise that we won't have to leave his side for awhile. We can spend time with him, and. . . say goodbye." Through the fog in your mind, you could hear him trying to not choke up on the last word he said.
"Okay." It took you a moment to form the word, and without realizing it, you were helping one of your best friends carry the love of your life into the Great Hall, were many other bodies were already scattered.
It wasn't until after you and George gently set Fred's body down that it finally hit you. Not until after you stood up, and slowly looked around, the sight and sound of grieving families, friends, and partners seeping into your mind and grasping onto your heartstrings until it felt like it was squeezing the life out of you.
Your eyes finally found their way back to Fred, every piece of the mental puzzle you had been trying to solve settling into the picture of the truth that lied on the ground before you.
Fred Weasley was dead.
You heard a noise of pure pain and anguish before feeling what seemed like raindrops falling from your eyes down to your cheeks. Were you crying? Definitely crying, as no one else around you was wet, and you were inside the Great Hall with everyone else.
It wasn't until you saw how people were looking at you that you realized the noise of pain had actually came from you.
The ground started to appear like it was coming closer until you felt loving arms wrap around you, and what sounded like a soothing voice began to become clearer as you listened.
"It's alright, dear. It's alright." The voice of Molly came from beside you as she hugged you tightly, tears of her own falling down her face as Arthur stayed close to her. And as you looked around, you saw George hugging Ron, and then Ron hugging Fred's body.
You didn't know when Ginny took you from Molly to hug you, but you were grateful for every hug that you got, as it reminded you that you were still alive.
Soon, another pair of arms wrapped around you from behind, and Lee came in to focus in front of you when Ginny had stepped away to hug Harry.
You didn't want to intrude. They were his family, and they all deserved to say goodbye to Fred first. At least that's what you told yourself so that you wouldn't cling to him in an instant.
"Go," Lee murmured, gently brushing your hair away from your tear streaked face, still taking care of you as one of his best friends just as he did in Hogwarts. "You're his family, too. We all are." He kneeled next to Fred's body with you, and gently took your hand, placing it in Fred's.
"His hand is colder than it usually is." You spoke in a whisper, tears clouding your vision at the newest reminder of the ghost of him before you. "His hands were always warm." You held Fred's hand tightly in your own. "Why is he so cold?"
Lee responded only by putting a hand on your shoulder in consolation. He didn't know what to say. He'd never done this before. Never, in his whole life, did he think he'd be so young and consoling one of his best friends about the death of another best friend. He never thought any of them would lose each other so soon.
It felt like days, when in reality it was only a fraction of that time. The war had been won, but you could barely recall the events of anything past losing Fred. You knew Harry was alive, but you didn't remember how, nor how he eventually defeated Voldemort. Other than flashes of memories of George making sure you returned safe with him and the rest of his family to the burrow, nothing more happened.
You made your way into the twins' old room with George, the both of you laying on Fred's old bed, just wanting to feel close to him.
Mrs. Weasley tried to encourage you both to eat, but the two of you didn't move. Moving made things real, and neither of you wanted them to be.
