I don't straight up ship VaultGhoul, but I'm also not in the "that's disgusting, stop" camp.
I do, however, see them as deeply combative coworkers. Wherever that dynamic takes us....only the wind knows.

Tumblr media
So the new teaser dropped, and I think it's time for a chat.
From day one, I've been trying to curb my excitement for Fontaine because its aesthetics and influence are some of my favorites and the ones I like using. But as with Sumeru and Inazuma, I've been trying to hold back my excitement as creaks have started to appear in the story. Mostly in pacing issues, either Inamuza being too slow and too little with honestly feeling like a waste of time, Sumeru was too much and too fast with too much loaded in the front end that these last few patches have been making me say, Ok? couldn't we have worked this in better?
But now we are at Fontaine's doorstep, and my feelings are mixed. I don't know how I feel about Arlecchino being the main antagonist here. In some ways, it does make more sense. But I'm not really into the idea of them being possibly playable, to be honest with you.
But outside of here, it does look like we are getting quite a fun batch of characters. But I bet you guys are more interested in who potentially vibes for the Diluc harem. And no one should be surprised it my initial impression is the Wriothesley is my first pick. Considering he was sitting next to Sigewinne, and the found family vibes were IMMENSE.

Tails and Eggman
For the Ask Game, please
Tails ✨
Tumblr media
Canon did Tails so dirty 😭💦 he's not a character I'm particularly into, but I do enjoy his setting of being a young genius fox with his self-doubt & insecurities sometimes, and looks up to Sonic for all the reasons. In SA1, he tried to prove himself through various means, at least in Lost World he's still trying his best to help Sonic. (even tho the drama between him & Sonic came out of nowhere, it's not like Sonic looked down on him? 😭) But later on in Forces, Tails only looked pathetic when they kept on enhancing the incecurities into straight up "inability to fight", I get that they're trying to make a very kid friendly story where the concepts of good and evil, hero and sidekick(s) are very clear and simple, but they can definitely do a much better job, such as having Tails stand in a defensive pose, cautious of the phantom-made Chaos before Classic Sonic came? Heck, standing there would be easier for the animators to do as well. If they don't wanna do the characters justice, they might as well skip doing them at all. 🥱
But Tails as himself still has lots of potential! A game character doesn't always have to be top-notch in fighting and saving the day, and I think Tails's abilities can definitely give him lots of advantage in any aspect. It's like an engineer creating all kinds of gadgets and tools and have your creations do all the work for you, you can do fighting/healing/defending/buffing etc... that's the badass part I wanna see from Tails more ✨
Eggman 🥚
Tumblr media
Particularly indifferent to Eggman except my thoughts of animating him doing sexy pole-dancing lives rent free in my head 👀💦
He does have a very iconic look tho, helps with inspiring me on art related fields... But let's talk about his character 😅
Despite not being into the movies' portrayal 100%, they did help me gain a better look on Eggman. His motivations for world domination & Eggmanland were established to be linked to his past, developing this twisted mindset of a villain. While 'turning evil due to past events' leans more on the cliche side, it does work in having Eggman became more believable in my head. He got his brain, and his ego that motivates him in wanting to make use of his smarts to the fullest, while also taking revenge on a world that does not stand with his supiority over the rest of them. He's evil & he'll take every opportunity to prove so 💨
Eggman might be the one I enjoy more in Frontiers, even tho I did not get his relationship with Sage. Him taking that giant pistol and shot Sonic to the moon was pretty badass to see, definitely carried much more charm than simply holding out their hands to hold the shield like the other characters. It showed him as someone with ambitious ideas when in comparison.
But still, I don't have that much opinions about Eggman, except that he should lean more into the evil side than the 'relatable' side. Imo, he would not have the "what have I done to you?😭" "I did not ask for this🥺" mindset, he should already know what he's doing & is having fun with stirring up shit when he wants to. He only victimizes himself when he needs to convince ppl to do evil with him. (eg Knuckles being told Sonic was attacking him & was planning to steal emeralds)...and the reason why he hates Sonic so much is not too much on Sonic's motivation to defeat him, but the fact that he actually got defeated. See it as a huge toll on his immense ego.
Also, fans getting the toxic relationship between Eggman and Sage as heartwarming & wholesome is a huge loss. It's straight up ppl getting core values of what makes a family wrong. The effort of trying to appeal to the 'found family' trend is also not enjoyable to watch, almost felt like they have a whole checklist of gimmicks when writing the dialogues. Don't get me wrong, I like Eggman and Sage as their own character. They work together good as well, even when Sage do think themselves as a family deep down. But trying to drive the 'they're a wholesome family!✨✨' mindset into the audience is mockery towards Sage's complicated emotions towards Eggman who did create her, but did not give her validation as a living being, but treat her as a tool, and then the potential manipulation when Eggman did say she was his daughter, straight up. Idk, I wished that ppl see them as family in a skeptical way than actually rooting for their father-daughter dynamic. At this point I can only try convince myself that found family is only a funny meme. 😐

I think my favorite aspect of the Hades II announcement is the idea that, somewhere in the underworld, a very thunderstruck Zagreus is demanding, "What do you MEAN, I have a sister?!"

I do think Blazing Saddles handled its one depiction of native americans very poorly, and the full extent of its representation of chinese workers on the railroad is they were literally just there. not even one single speaking line. unclear if this is worse or better than the redface.
it's fucking phenomenal at lampooning antiblack racism though. extremely blatant, extremely funny satire, which is constantly and loudly saying "racism is the philosophy of the terminally stupid at best and morally depraved at worst, and we should all be pointing and laughing at them 24/7"
plus the main character is a heroic black man who has to navigate a whole lot of bullshit but is constantly smirking at the extraordinarily stupid racists and inviting the audience into the joke. the one heroic white character is a guy who was suicidally depressed until he met the protagonist and they just instantly became buds, and he's firmly in a supporting role the whole time and happy to be there. the protagonist saves the day with the help of his black friends from the railroad, and uses the position of power he was given to uplift not only those friends, but all the railroad workers of other minorities too, in an explicit show of solidarity.
anyone saying "Blazing Saddles is racist" had better be talking about its treatment of non-black minorities. it had better not be such superficial takes as "oh but they say the n-word all the time" or "they have nazis and the kkk in there!" because goddamn if that's the full extent of your critique I very seriously suggest you read up on media analysis. there is too much going over your head, you need to learn to recognize satire.

cw: pro-hero bakugo, reader has boobs, kind of explicit/nsfw? idk i describe boobs, reader is smaller and shorter than bakugo, unedited sawry
bakugo's muscle tee looks as ill-fitting as it'll ever be draped over you.
there are reasons for this, perfectly founded and logical reasons for why that is—the main one being that, it's, well, his; two, maybe even three sizes larger than what it should be to fit you properly.
but, he can't stop staring, and there are reasons for that too—the main one being that, it's his, and yet, the only way he can ever imagine it now is when it's being worn by you.
your hips sway to the song you've been humming for the past five minutes. it's the same one, the chorus on a perpetual loop. he's sure it's the only part you know; you do this often enough that it's the only part he knows now, too.
the hem of his tee hits right at the top of your thighs, concealing just enough to tease, but he’s confident that if you reach up even the slightest bit for the cupboard overhead, there'll be nothing to hide.
he feels a little bit like a creep like this, watching as he stands in the middle of your shared living room, but it's impossible too look away—you've got to be doing this on purpose, right?
heat flares inside of him when you turn your body ever so slightly, the armhole of his muscle tee large enough to give him the clearest view of skin—
he gulps.
it's smooth, sloping just right; the side view of your under boob curves into its perfect shape and he can imagine it, feel—
(is this considered perving if he's been with you for years?)
the pan in front of you sizzles as you plop in god knows what. you pour in something from the side and wait, one hand propped on the hip you pop out. then, you pick up the pan, attempting to flip what's inside (probably a pancake, now that he thinks about it).
it’s hard to focus on what you’re cooking though, especially when all he sees is plump flesh jiggling, bouncing as you further agitate the pan.
he just got the pants of this suit readjusted, and now they're fucking tight.
bakugo normally runs hot; it’s kind of part of his dna. but this warmth is different, flushing him from head to toe. it creeps up the side of his neck, painting the tips of his ears a blooming red.
you turn around then, plopping the pancake on the plate atop the counter behind you.
"oh! you're done," you greet him with a smile. so. fucking. casually.
as if your tits aren't fucking peaking against the gray fabric of his tee.
as if you think he buys the fake innocence poorly concealing that sly, conniving look in your pretty eyes.
as if you aren't standing in front of him in his muscle tee, wearing nothing underneath it like you didn’t do this on purpose. like you don’t know what it fucking does to him.
his eyes squint suspiciously, deep vermillion staring straight into yours.
you tilt your head, the tips of your lashes kissing the top of your cheekbones as you blink. you reach for a bottle of honey.
“everything okay?” you ask, voice syrupy, sickeningly sweet.
your movements play in front of him languidly, the corner of your lips curling up slightly as you smirk. honey catches on your finger as you pop open the bottle cap.
he’s supposed to be out the door in five minutes if he wants to make it in time for a meeting at the agency. technically, he should already be there if he wants to keep up his track record of consistently being fifteen minutes too early.
but you start to approach him, rounding the kitchen island. there’s a narrow space between him and the slab of marble, but you slide into it like it was made for you.
he’s certain it was, from the way the tip of your nose brushes against his as you tiptoe. your tits are right fucking there, brushing against the skintight material of his suit.
there’s too much fucking fabric if you ask him, between cotton and spandex.
your grin widens, and he feels hot, the heat from his cheeks radiating.
then you whisper, still saccharine, “breakfast is ready,” before kissing him on the lips lightly. a short peck, soft in the way that promises more before you slip away, giggling in your retreat.
he huffs, watching you leave. his feet shift as he thinks.
five minutes, huh?
like hell he’s going to eat these damn pancakes for breakfast today.

I’m actually serious about this, if at all possible, right now is a very good time to request queer books from your local library. Whether they get them or not is not in your control, but it is so important to show that there is a desire for queer books. I will also say getting more queer books in libraries and supporting queer authors are pretty fantastic byproducts of any action.
This isn’t something everyone can do, but please do see if you are one of the people who has the privilege to engage in this form of activism, and if you are, leverage that privilege for all you’re worth.
For anyone who can’t think of a queer book to request, here is a little list of some queer books that I think are underrated and might not be in circulation even at larger libraries:
Refusing Compulsory Sexuality: A Black Asexual Lens on Our Sex-Obsessed Culture by Sherronda J. Brown
Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco
Harvard's Secret Court: The Savage 1920 Purge of Campus Homosexuals by William Wright
The Perks of Loving a Wallflower by Erica Ridley
God Themselves by Jae Nichelle
IRL by Tommy Pico
The Pink Line: Journeys Across the World's Queer Frontiers by Mark Gevisser
Passing Strange by Ellen Klages
The New Queer Conscience by Adam Eli
Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars: A Dangerous Trans Girl's Confabulous Memoir by Kai Cheng Thom
Queering the Tarot by Cassandra Snow
Wash Day Diaries by Jamila Rowser
Queer Magic: Lgbt+ Spirituality and Culture from Around the World by Tomás Prower
Before We Were Trans: A New History of Gender by Kit Heyam
Beyond the Pale by Elana Dykewomon
Hi Honey, I'm Homo! by Matt Baume
The Deep by Rivers Solomon
Homie: Poems by Danez Smith
The Secret Life of Church Ladies by Deesha Philyaw
The Companion by E.E. Ottoman

Dear Senthuran: A Black Spirit Memoir by Akwaeke Emezi
Peaches and Honey by Imogen Markwell-Tweed
Nepantla: An Anthology Dedicated to Queer Poets of Color by Christopher Soto

A fun way imo to develop characters is to look at them and ask, "what does this imply?" This unfortunately only works if you already have a character concept in mind, but it's always been useful for me when I need to create some interiority for a character who feels a little flat.
As previously stated, literally all you're doing is looking at a character and performing a rudimentary analysis of them based on what you've already developed. A good example of this is my character Mordred, who early on in his development was conceived of as a sickly looking teenager wearing a full suit and bowtie. This is because I thought there was a lot of potential in this image. "What kind of teenager goes to school everyday wearing a full suit and bowtie?" Probably a kid who takes himself very seriously and has some interest in looking "polished" -- perhaps he even views himself above his peers for how he dresses. And, how might this visual extend to other aspects of him? Is he always someone who goes against the grain? Does he actually have an interest in men's wear, or is this a symbolic image for how he stands against his peers? I bet he has strong opinions on society. Did he buy the suit himself, or did his mom buy it, because one or the other also implies some stuff about the nature of their relationship, if his mother is supportive of his oddness or not, etc. etc. etc. A lot of stuff that you can find out, just from looking at one small aspect of a character! The same kind of process can spiral from anything - a character's actions, a character's thoughts, their beliefs, a line they say, a face they make, a hobby they have... all can be a good starting point for developing them further and figuring out more about them.
In a similar vein, I know that people recommend filling out character charts and stuff, but usually I find it more useful to think of a character in terms of a "scenario" or a "description" than in terms of their traits. "This character is smart" vs. "This characters complains to the teacher when the test has a question that isn't in the book" ; "This person is stubborn" vs. "This is the kind of person who'd rather starve than order food if they said they weren't hungry." Figuring out a character through something like this gives me a specific image of how they might act in a story as opposed to more broadly-described traits. Being as I tend to think up characters with story ideas and scenarios, it's much more helpful for me! "Ah, but how do you do this, Gert?" Easy: you stare at a wall for multiple hours until you have a revelation about a character. This is surely what everyone is capable of [nodding sagely]

enough stories about how someone learns to truely be happy through love. i want a story where someone is desperately seeking out love thinking it's the only way to be happy only for them to learn by the end that happiness is what they make of it and they don't need love at all to make it.

when people refer to canon story-relevant kingdom hearts games as ‘spinoffs’ it makes me sad not only for the obvious reasons i always say but also bc like man i WISH this series had spinoffs. imagine what they could do if they had permission from nomura to truly go off the rails and ignore the greater canon for a second and just do some fun whimsical plotless thing in an alternate universe. imagine a fishing/boating game on destiny islands. kh fighting game. it is an injustice that we have been deprived of kingdom karts. can anyone hear me
#in terms of alternate gameplay and lack of reliance on plot#i feel like melody of memory is the closest thing kh has actually had to a spinoff#but even that is important in its own way in the end#union cross to a certain degree as well what with being an online multiplayer gacha type game#its original concept i would definitely classify as a spinoff game#bc it was set in a totally different world and time period and was supposed to be about customization and fun with friends#and nomura or someone said it wasn’t meant to be connected to the plot#but then like. he did very much go and give it a plot. like he went back on that almost immediately#and even then. given that the game is still very much combat and exploration#even from the beginning can it really be called a spinoff? it’s just kh in a different format#i’m talking like a game in which the objective is something totally different.#racing game or cooking game or fighting game or (another) rhythm game#ace attorney style detective game. dancing game. dude i don’t know#there are so many different flavors they could go with here#alas nomura is allergic to genuine whimsy which is hilarious given that this is a disney series#like he apparently was like ‘ohhh should we really let sora in smash? would it make sense in the story?’#my brother in christ surely we’re not supposed to interpret this as canon to kh right? right????#i guess it’s just that the kh franchise has a very specific pristine vibe he wants to maintain#which is disney shenanigans as a seasoning on top of a main dish of Stone Cold Serious Anime Plot#kingdom hearts#kh#mine: kh

got a worm nibbling my brain. can someone help me find a piece of obscure media?
webcomic/indie comic from the 2010s. basically a sci-fi short story about a young girl (with red hair?) who was being raised by scientists as part of an experiment. she receives a haircut/has her head shaved, in preparation for her annual brain scan/testing. it is revealed that while her body is human, her "brain" is artificial, made of computer implants throughout her skull and spine. at some point her biological mother (also a scientist on the same campus?) encounters her and is repulsed, viewing her as a machine who has murdered her daughter.
it was very poignant and it bruised my heart and i can NOT find it anywhere
