I am thinking about. Jamie and the Second Doctor.

Because out of all the incarnations of the Doctor, Two is arguably the one who uses manipulation and disguises the most. He thrives on using people's intelligence against them, on tricking people, on bluffing and his bluffs working. He has a different disguise every story pretty much and is constantly playing some kind of role.

And then you look at Jamie, and some of Jamie's most front and center traits are his loyalty and his honesty (and protectiveness, but less applicable). Jamie is loyal to a fault and extremely trusting of the Doctor. He's honest and straightforward and deeply caring.

And Jamie is the one who sticks by the Second Doctor for as long as he physically can--and you'd look at those two characters, one who is manipulative and cunning, and one who is loyal to a fault, and you'd think the Doctor would easily be able to take advantage of Jamie, that Jamie would just be a tool for him but he's not, they're on equal footing. Jamie pulls the Doctor down and reminds him what being human is all about.

Ok I know this would never happen in canon but like I cannot get the idea out of my mind.

We know that Ealdor is a small village on the edge of Cenreds kingdom, near Camelot. Imagine Cenred traveling through Ealdor to get to Camelot so they can make some kind of deal or whatnot and they stop at Ealdor for the night.

When they arrive everyone is all 'yes sire' 'of course sire' bowing and polite and 'my king this' or 'my king that'. Except, that is, for Merlin. He gets scolded by Hunith multiple times to not stare directly at royalty and to bow and do this or that but he flat out refuses to speak to them at all.

This eventually leads to Hunith coming up with the lie that Merlin can't speak so he, hopefully, won't get in trouble for not treating them with the respect they think they deserve.

When Hunith finally manages to drag Merlin into their little cottage to ask him why he's acting this way Merlin mentions that Cenred feels icky and wrong. When she tries to get him to elaborate Merlin can only respond with a few short words.

Saw an old post on reddit about the fourth Doctor and his companions, and someone under it said that Four didn't even care about them cause he was always dismissive and/or mean etc..... But they must not know him like I know him then cause w h a t. What do you mean he didn't care? Did we witness the same character??

merlin’s secret being a visual thing. when he is around arthur or gwen or leon or morgana or [insert whatever character here] merlin seems pale and thin, almost like a ghost or an apparition. when the sun lands on him he reflects it like a corpse, he eyes seem dark and dull. he has this ethereal beauty to him, this otherworldly visage that leads many to believe he is of fae blood. he just doesn’t seem to be 100% human. but when he is ONLY with lancelot or gaius (cough or gwaine bc gwaine DEFINITELY knew) merlin is heartachingly human. merlin shines in the sunlight, colors are brighter and more vibrant around him, and his smiles are wide and his laughs are boisterous. he takes on color and leaves everyone wanting to know him. but when other join in or interact with the two, merlin shifts before their eyes so quickly and suddenly that they aren’t sure whether or not what they saw was a trick of the light. the idea still leaves them wanting more and wanting to see the merlin who is just so full of life but that merlin only appears for a small select group of people. merlin who has a guard so high that it has an effect of other’s perception of him.

There's something about kdj as the " demon king of salvation" and the "oldest dream" as yjhs sponsor. kdj being yjhs salvation at the end of his regressions and also the cruelty that started them (demon) and how he lived for as long as the old dream had chasing his own dream. just incredibly fitting and symbolic I think

WAGAGUGGHH i cannoy WAIT for the captain flashback because you fucking KNOW its gonna make every other fucking scene with him soooo much sadder and crazier in context. every new thing we learn about him necessitates a complete rewatch to put his whole character in perspective. god I love this show.
