so awkward every time i have the realization that like. a handful of very popular early vocaloid songs were about wwii for some reason. karakuri burst, senbonzakura, secret police, the prisoner/paper planes series. like erm.. what was in the water...

RETCH!!!!#i think secret police and karakuri burst have fallen by the wayside a bit over time #bc ppl have been less than comfortable with songs that are obviously--by the title--about nazis #(karakuri burst has a swastika in the title)#(theres a sequel song where hitoshizuku seems to have realized that was a Bad Decision and she like. abstracts it into a flower)#(in a generalized robotic dystopia or smthn)#but western listeners at least are not immediately familiar with senbon's subject material. so we just enjoy the music w/o thinking abt it #i think if they didnt have those obvious red flags people would still be really into karakuri burst and secret police
