so it's NOT just aziraphale comforting crowley here. it's both of them lamenting their complicitness in the suffering of humanity, it's them realising just how pointless it all is both of them making this one poor man's life miserable just to prove who's side is best (like this whole both heaven and hell torturing one guy to test his faith is that whole thing adam said about the stupidity of armageddon in MICROCOSM), and suddenly coming to the conclusion that they are the only ones who can understand each other. they have no one else in the world, in the universe, who knows how they feel. it's literally them reflecting on their respective positions in this great ineffable cosmic game of chess and realising they are not just playing opposite numbers, but are connected in such a deep and profound way such as that no one else would ever be able to comprehend.

and all of that is literally encapsulated in this one fucking screenshot. that's why it's eliciting so much inexplicable emotion in people. even without the context this shot is so provoking, but it really says it ALL once you understand what's really going on here. even without any dialogue or movement. the vast beauty that surrounds them, the purposeful distance maintained but nonetheless still sitting together peacefully, the quiet moment of reflection upon their places in the universe, and their places in each other's lives. the feeling that they really might be the only two people on earth who matter. what a beautiful place to build this season's romance from. I haven't even seen the scene yet and I'm already in awe

I've seen a LOT of shaming going round at the moment, both here and on twitter, of people who are seeking out good omens spoilers, mostly by those who have watched the new episodes in advance. despite what neil and david and michael may have said on the subject, it's rubbing me the wrong way! so I feel the need to make a potentially unpopular post about

✨SPOILERS AND NEURODIVERSITY✨

now I cannot speak for everybody here but as an autistic person with ocd I actually !prefer! being spoiled ahead of time and will frequently read the entire wiki article for a show I'm about to watch (though weirdly CANNOT skip ahead with books?) in order to alleviate anxiety around the unexpected. trust me when I say that knowing what will happen in advance *enhances* the experience for me and I have yet to regret being deliberately spoiled, even when it comes to my absolute favourite things on earth, things I may have been waiting months and months (or in this case years) for. in fact, the longer I've had to wait, the more the feeling of gut-twisting anxiety and uncertainty beds down in my system and makes itself a very unwelcome house guest.

it's all very well insisting that everybody just be patient and ~wait and see~ but for a lot of neurodiverse folks this can be a very unsettling prospect. personally, I don't like surprises! I don't crave the sensation of being shocked by an unforeseen twist! it makes me do a panic! even the thought of it makes me feel deeply uncomfortable.

we're not simply throwing our toys out the pram because we WANT something and we WANT IT NOW (shout out to verruca salt). there is a soothing comfort and stability to predictability that is difficult to explain to somebody who doesn't experience this.

at this point I should mention that OBVIOUSLY not all neurodiverse/autistic/diagnosed-ocd people feel this way but that doesn't negate the fact that a lot of us do and there's not much we can do about it.

I'm aware that everybody's currently moralising about the rightness/wrongness of illicitly distributing and trading nuggets of forbidden information like crack-laced pokemon cards* (surely in this fandom everything should exist in a grey area?) but please don't jump on this as an opportunity to prove who's the most terribly righteous and which of us gets to wear the Super Duper Bestest Fan Neil's Favourite prefect badge for the day. devolving into needless factions and one-upmanship so near to the official airdate does nobody any good.

on another personal note (this is the 👂🏼♿accessibility♿👂🏼bit) I was due to attend one of the screenings and now can't due to the apparent lack of subtitles. pleeeeeaase think of accessibility, amazon. please? some of us have severely messed up ears and/or auditory processing disorders - it's not hurting anybody to have the words up on the screen but it excludes many of us if you don't.

again, if you think it's terrible and wrong to want to be spoiled or to share spoilers you are well within your rights to think that, and of course I encourage anybody who is participating in a bit of blackmarket spoiler dealing to utilise ALL the tags you can think of to keep it secret (keep it safe), or simply leave it to the DMs, but I really don't see the good in shaming others who feel differently.

The day after watching good omens 2 I had a dream about Azi and Crowley adopting baby Jesus to prevent (?) the second coming (the baby grew up throughout the dream and they were a gender queer chaotic gremlin) and I haven't stopped thinking about it since.

aw man the discourse about the leak openly said what the leak was and now I got spoiled bc they didnt even tag it :( I get some folks enjoy knowing more stuff but for me it ruins it cos I will spend the viewing time thinking about what is coming and when is it coming and how will it be coming and how it will fit into the story, it just ruins the viewing experience. (I know someone will say "thats a you problem, deal with it", but that line of thought goes both ways, dickheads). I wish people would tag more thoughtfully (or at all) regarding stuff like that

I'm so sorry that happened, anon :(( tagging should be second nature to all of us at this point, we've all been in fandom spaces so long that I know we know how to tag. It's not even about this particular spoiler, this is true for any and all spoilers - whether leaked or otherwise - tag your stuff!

We know how to tag, we are on a website that not only lets us tag but also lets us blacklist tags which is so wonderful. So let's all use it!

it's been years since I've read the book so this is going to be the combined book/s1/s2 that exists in my head

for them, it mostly comes down to the yin yang of it all. they're different, yes, but they genuinely like each other and enjoy each other's company. which is something that yk you'd think a lot of ships have but you would be surprised. watching them interact is such a pleasure, honestly. and they're both kinda dicks for entirely different reasons and yet they both want the world and humanity to survive. and these foundations lay the groundwork for everything else. if crowley were a better demon and aziraphale a better angel they wouldn't have made it ('it' hereby meaning their relationship, the apocalypse, etc) but neither of them live up to what their respective sides want and that leaves them somewhere in-between (earth).

all that said, I love how s2 brought their miscommunication to the forefront. it had always been a thing but it wasn't something that had managed to stop them previously so they had never been forced to confront it. and being forced to do so exposed the basic philosophical differences they had been papering over for millennia. liking each other is one thing, shared goals another, but they are fundamentally different people at different stages of addressing their traumas and they both need to evolve as people before they can come back together stronger.

I just finished reading chapter 6 of Heartstopper which means I'll be watching Season 2 of Heartstopper!!!! I'm really excited for Mr. Farouk & Mr. Ajayi!!! Not so much for David though!!!
