there are very few things sƍshirƍ allows himself to do in life. for one is to let down his family honor more than he already has. while there are many feats to being the strongest close quarters soldier in the division, there is little else he can do when it comes to tackling on the bigger kaiju that have been upcropping lately. he fears that while there are no smaller number of yoju that appear, or even after beasts that live inside these giga-titans, remaining vice-captain of a quickly diminishing role would no sooner make himself redundant to the force.
just another reason for everyone to put him down, he muses to himself; mean while his thumb jerks quickly and tap buttons just as fast.
the second is to let loose, and while he is still young, laid back and loves to celebrate successful operations, he is a vice-captain and has a certain air to maintain. not to mention a very impressionable last name he carries. he has no such time to spend countless hours in front of a tv screen, playing video games and watching anime. his room in his family home has books on different sword techniques, fighting styles. pages and pages he's filed away in his mind and replays over and over. the only source of entertainment he had growing up was the imagination of one day being better than his brother and little else.
a leg bumping his own brings him out his deep thoughts, taking notice that they were both on their last stock. in no time did hoshina maneuver his character to block the incoming attack, combo the other character and blow them off the screen. it was satisfaction, a bit of awe, but he definitely rejoiced in seeing the other man's scowl as he lost to someone who's hardly touched a video game before. he chuckles waving the controller a little teasing him as its obvious narumi is skilled at the game. he just adores riling him up.
Tumblr media
‘i'm hardly any different from my brother,’ sƍshirƍ thinks to himself albeit bitterly, but easily turns his attention to the grumpy commander. “you're such a sore loser. so cute,” he muses, readying his character. naturally he picked the green clad swordsmen to go against whomever narumi decided he was good with. “unlike you, some of us take our job quite seriously, y'know? i dunno about staying up all night to play but...”
a small smile grows on his face, “two out of three, huh? so one more win and you will accompany me tomorrow. what about you, hm?”

Chai was holding onto V’s arms, eyes wide with surprise as the two sides seemed to teleport together in unison. Ironclad was suddenly on them and now they were suddenly at the top of a building. He quickly jumped out of V’s arms and reformed his guitar, looking up at the looming mech.
“Wait why do I have to-” There was a groan from the younger man, he resigned because he knew he wasn’t going to get an answer. The device in his chest began to react to Chai’s anxiety and his power started to activate. Around him the world started to move to the beat of the song NEONHEAD by Starcadian, the next song on his playlist.
Now focused on the mech before him, Chai started to tap his foot and snap his free hand. He witnessed some of the plating around the neck area starting to shift, forming somewhat of a path for him to climb up on.
“There it is V. Just keep his eyes on you.” Chai’s voice was surprisingly serious. Before V could react to his statement, the rockstar jumped off the edge of the building and started to make his way towards Ironclad.
Tumblr media
Pulling the blade out of the ground, the mech gave another metal roar. Its eyes locked onto V as it started to charge towards them. There was only one thing on the pilot’s mind, and it was to kill.

cont. from here for @walkedfire
there's something about the incomplete stillness of nights in the after that makes gen wish she had appreciated the quiet more. embraced it, hadn't broken it with mindless talking and too loud music as much, learned to deal with the silence on her own. they had tried, countless times, but it always felt too threatening. it's almost laughable now, to them, that silence had been their biggest fear at one point. gen would give anything to go back to that time, would trade the future for it. she's tired of thinking about what's coming, wants to live in what's passed, what can't be changed by some freak accident.
she remembers a conversation they had once about time travel and she wishes the scientists would hurry up and figure it out. they're too busy trying to figure out how to stop death now, in more ways than one, how to stop the future. gen's seen the theories, the charts, the formulas and none of it makes any sense. no matter how hard they try and get her to embrace the idea, she's too wrapped up in how it could have been prevented. what she'd need to change to do so, if she could go back. she wants so horribly to go back. would trade the freedom she doesn't even have to be able to.
it isn't that she resents buck for dying. he didn't know it would happen, or maybe he did and just hadn't cared, she remembers his panic from that split second. they remember the panic and the empty that followed, all three minutes, and they can't stop thinking about how maybe it could be different. if they could just go back, fix it, tell him what was going to be and what to do. tell him to stay in place, not move, that she'd be fine. there's no way he'd listen and she can't blame him. if the roles had been reversed, she'd have done the same for him. it's why she can't hate him for the situation they're in now.
out of everyone, from the doctors to the scientists to him and even the fucking kaiju, she hates herself the most. she'd been late to their meeting spot, just by four minutes, but still late. she'd forgotten a box in her locker, had almost been at the door when she'd realized, and hadn't thought about the time. just ran, trying to be quick, trying to outrun a ticking that had embedded into her head at some point. if she had been faster getting back, hadn't paused at the door, had just thrown it open and never stopped running, she's sure they'd have made it out.
so no, she doesn't blame him, and she knows he does blame himself, it's not something he can hide from her, even if they're not in the drift. it's evident in how he avoids her, how he looks at her, and she's tired. the nightmares have been raging, dragging her back into a void drift, keeping her stuck in a place where death screams and she can't find a light to scare it away and keep it away from him.
it isn't like she'll have to worry about it for much longer. they'd fucked up again, had another fight with a higher up, hadn't kept her mouth shut and silent. hadn't just accepted orders and given them what they wanted. there had been thrown punches again, she doesn't know how to handle that part, doesn't remember ever being this angry. but, not at him.
she's pulled out of her thoughts briefly when he touches her hair and the softness of the gesture pulls her back to the present, out of the past, and it's crushing. gen doesn't push it away, it's soothing and she's determined to commit it to memory, it won't be hard to, there's nothing about him that she thinks she'll ever forget. he's too burned into her heart for her brain to let him fade. at least, they hope.
their thoughts do start to wander again, but more in relation to his question. no, haven't been able to in weeks, it's fine. she doesn't say it, trying to not be mean or short, and they try to commit his face to memory, another impossible thing to forget but she's just so scared she will. they already almost lost being able to see it. they got it back, he's alive, that should be enough. knowing that they fucked up and that he got hurt and she's about to hurt him even harder makes looking at him ––– hurt.
gen almost looks away, but she can't, just reaches for his face and pulls him close, resting her forehead against his. she closes her eyes and shakes her head and, after letting a beat of silence rest, she speaks.
"i had a meeting today. i'm out. too broken, too angry, keep fighting them. i leave in three days. alone."
they feel like a kid again, out of control and under too much pressure. unsure of what's going on and why she just can't stop fighting. why she insists on being too much , too loud, too explosive, too many questions, not enough respect, no control. tears start falling, burning in her eyes so she keeps them closed, and she speaks quietly, half to him half to herself. "i'm scared."

More Post-Abraxas Genocide Route ideas (Pt. 2)
(Cont. from Pt.1)
Okay, so next let me throw out some thoughts of my own on the Post-Abraxas Coexistence/Genocide Titans other folks on here have talked about, throw some more ideas about them in the blender for people to chew over!
With Gigan, your earlier post about how there was probably the odd surviving lifeform on all those other alien worlds that Ghidorah conquered and turned into its endless-storm-planet trophies came back to me, and I'm thinking: maybe an Abraxas-verse version of Gigan is a survivor from one of those alien worlds. Maybe it was an Alpha Titan on that world before Ghidorah attacked, and it avoided starving to death when Ghidorah turned the skies into a sunless, neverending tempest of yellow lightning. Or maybe Gigan was a bioweapon-beast created by an alien civilisation on the attacked world, in a failed attempt to defend themselves against Ghidorah, kinda like Anigoji Mechagodzilla's origin.
Either way, when Ghidorah was done razing Gigan's homeworld and moved on into space looking for its next target, Gigan followed. Maybe Gigan has a kind of religious worship for Ghidorah; maybe Gigan wants to kill Ghidorah as part of his programming or as revenge for the destruction of Gigan's homeworld but knows he doesn't have the means to kill Ghidorah on his own; or maybe Gigan is just a Titanic parasite who only arrives on Ghidorah's planetary conquests after Ghidorah has finished with them, feeding on whatever scraps are left there. So Gigan is like the reversal of a pilot-fish, following Ghidorah's trail from newly-made storm-world to newly-made storm-world over the eons, and he's been hanging back for thousands of years since Ghidorah came to Earth and has failed to turn it into the next hurricane-covered trophy. Then when Gigan senses Ghidorah's final defeat, that's when Gigan moves in to make landfall on the planet...
And now some ideas for Destoroyah. To fit with how the Monsterverse's shift towards portraying the kaiju more as forces of nature than as embodiments of the atomic age, maybe Destoroyah is an ancient Titan like Godzilla but... older. Specifically... what if mainstream science, just like it got it wrong when it said there's nothing but rock and magma between the Earth's crust and inner-code; also got it wrong when it said nothing more advanced than a few large worms lived on Earth during the Precambrian. What if before the Oxygen Catastrophe 2 billion years ago, the Earth had an entire other biosphere of complex life on its surface, and it's from this time that Destoroyah originally hails. Making Destoroyah the oldest known Titan in Earth's history, and he's regarded by the cast when they find out about him as being one of the first Titans - Destoroyah is to Titans kinda what En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse is to mutants.
Maybe the Oxygen Destroyer was the only thing that caused Destoroyah to stir because its unique energy, though deadly to all forms of modern terrestrial life, is more akin to the Micro-Oxygen that fed Destoroyah and creatures like him in their Precambrian environment. And maybe the O.D. somehow gave the awakening Destoroyah what he needed to adapt his biology to a post-Oxygen Catastrophe world and begin terraforming/xenoforming it to better suit his primordial tastes.
Considering how Mothra in particular seems to be a rather supernatural Titan, and how Destoroyah's Precambrian home is to the modern Titans what the Elder Gods are to Cthulhu... maybe Destoroyah has an affinity with the cycles of life and death and reincarnation that goes way beyond even Mothra's powers, and this is how Destoroyah draws Emma's consciousness into himself upon her death to act as a major part of his hive mind, to make himself perfectly-adapted for re-conquering the new world once he's done stirring from the O.D. blast and he's fully awakened after a few decades.
And now onto Battra. Maybe in the Post-Abraxas Genocide Route, he had a part in the start of Godzilla's genocide. Maybe a few years before Godzilla decided to nuke humanity back to the stone age, Battra was fought and killed, but Battra's radioactive remains seeped into Godzilla upon death just like Mothra's in KOTM. And instead of empowering Godzilla, it enabled Battra's spirit to linger within Godzilla. Having a more-than-mind-control effect on Godzilla, not truly possessing him or forcing him to do anything against his will, just influencing Godzilla's decision-making and impulses over the years, bringing Godzilla to the point of solving the human problem the way Battra thinks Godzilla should have solved it as soon as the atom bombs had awoken him.
---
These... all of these are good ideas, and I especially dig the Cthulhu-esque take on Destroyah.

@rileysroleplayreservoir cont from here
A series of sputtering was heard from the opposite side of the curtain, Majima’s excitement flustering the lilac haired woman to toss articles of clothing she was checking out. There was a handle of costumes she’d snatched up to try - pirate, kaiju, vampire empress, disco queen, pop idol, and the one she ALMOST completely had on

Majima would be greeted with the image of a half dressed witch popping out, eyes and mouth in frustrated slits hardly trying to cover her top half, still clad in a black lace bra. All things considered, without the top the look was on the ‘sexy’ spectrum.
“MAJIMA JUST GIVE ME A MI-”
Her quick turn left a glaring series of colors, but when she finally gave him a look over - now, she may have joked from time to time about him looking good in dresses
but this was straight up UNFAIR. He actually killed this look, even as a zombie!! She was near beet red because of it.
A low whistle she’d long since abandoned the top she had in her hands, giving him a good look over, even making Majima give a turn around in this newly clad outfit. There was an equal giddiness in her eyes to match his own mischief.
“He’s going to have the fright of his life
hoo boy I’m already dying..” She muttered under her breath with a low laugh, peering up at him with a toothy grin, gently grasping his chin between two of her fingers. “Depends. Am I the patient? Because please resuscitate me, Majima-san. I think I’ve died and gone to heaven.”
To which with a quick change of plans, she immediately went to find the cutest doctor outfit she could to match his nurse, had he not already snatched up one “Come nurse! Doctor needs her tools and we’ve got a patient to take care of!! Unless you’re the one feelin’ feverish, nurse~”
To be honest, spooking the shit out of Kiryu sounded like quite the hilarious time.
Beaming when the woman finally emerged from behind the curtain, Majima wasted no time in showing off the outrageous choice of outfit. “And then- and then, I’ll put shit all over my face and he’ll probably piss himself.” If he’d thought about it, some kind of ghost prank might be better, but there was no way he’d believe Majima might be a ghost - however, chasing after him screaming in six inch heels was probably enough to put ten years on the Dragon of Dojima. Trick or DEEZ NUTS was enough to scare the bejeezus out of anyone.
Grinning when Riley grabbed his chin, the Mad Dog swayed from side to side excitedly. "You're gunna do my face, right?" It wasn't really a question, more of a demand. He bounded after her when she scurried off to find a matching outfit. "Heh, well I do feel a lil' hot under the collar," he grinned darkly, stopping as they passed a rack stocked with shoes ranging from the ridiculous to the bizarre in similarly varied sizes.
Kicking off the satin and elastic monstrosities which barely contained his feet, he crouched down squarely to rummage in a bargain bucket under the rack, the skirt riding up in a distinctly unladylike fashion. "Gotta be somethin' in here..."

Coming in a little late for the "would you ever" ask thing, but i just thought of one. Would you ever write a Pacific Rim AU with any of the Tortall characters?
Hell yes.  Pacific Rim AU of everything.
Alanna can Drift with a shocking number of people, given her short temper (she cannot Drift with Thom, however).  The way things ultimately shake out is that Jon is a king and therefore not permitted to go out risking his life willy nilly (just...give me this AU where somehow everyone’s social status is exactly the same and the setting is identical but instead of knights-in-training and an Immortal War they have kaiju and jaegers powered by the Gift), and George is too much of a spy to be good at head-on combat, so Alanna and Raoul Goldenlake pilot Lioness Rampant together.  She’s equipped with a sword, designed to perform merciless, artful slaughter on command, and after every battle the crest on her chest is buffed out until the gold shines.
When things are really dire, Jon and Thayet fight together in their jaeger, powered by the Dominion Jewel at its core and called simply Dominion, and they are a terror.  Thayet is also Drift compatible with Buri, but they don’t generally pair up for real battles because Thayet is a queen and not permitted to go out risking her life willy nilly.
Onua and Sarge pilot Freedom Hound together and fight like a boxer, utterly brutal and efficient, but they’re so valuable finding new pilots that they spend more time running trainees ragged than playing soldier.
Obviously Daine and Numair are Drift compatible.  The only other person Numair was ever able to Drift with was Ozorne (for the purposes of this AU, let’s say that the Drift pre-dated the jaegers and is a function of the Gift, maybe?), so he’s a little shaken up at first when he discovers that he can Drift with this strange girl.  Daine, for her part, didn’t even know that Drifting was a thing that humans could do, because she’d only ever been able to do it with animals.  Except for Numair, she’s able to Drift with anyone with even a speck of wild magic, and with any animal except for dragons.  Theoretically, she might gain that ability someday, but not yet.
Daine and Numair’s jaeger, which is only built in the last days of the war and is only sent out in the last desperate attack, is called Silver Claw and has armor made of Stormwing steel.  Colloquially, the civilians call it Godborn or Mage Tower, and except for Dominion and Lioness, Silver is the most recognizable jaeger around.
I think if I was going to properly plug everyone into a Pacific Rim AU, Numair would be Raleigh, but instead of tragically losing Ozorne in battle, Ozorne got power hungry and managed to find a way to drug Numair inside the Conn Pod, and turned their jaeger Black Opal on a civilian city before Numair disengaged from the neural link and killed him.  He disappeared after single-handedly finishing the fight, and then years later Jonathan Conte comes to find him to help save the world.  Jon hasn’t piloted his jaeger in years because his wife and partner spent most of a decade playing full-time politician to get them funding, and now she’s playing criminal mastermind to accomplish the same thing.  Daine was adopted by Onua three Shatterdomes ago, and now she’s everyone’s little sister at the last Shatterdome at Port Legann, and she saw a kaiju brutally murder her mother and father and grandfather as a child.
Numair arrives and Daine demands the right to try out as his copilot, and that plays out approximately as in the movie. Sarge suffers massive circuitry burns outside Port Legann while they’re facing a double kaiju attack, when Onua loses consciousness after the EMP goes off, which basically benches both of them.  In the same fight, Alanna breaks her arm trying to protect Port Legann, which means that Raoul drops with Thom on the final mission to close the Breach.  They sacrifice themselves to buy Black Opal the chance to get into the Breach and close it with a nuke.  Daine gives Numair her oxygen and destroys the Breach, and they’re picked up from the ocean laughing like lunatics and clinging to each other.  Roll credits.
Pacific Rim AUs for Everything, you guys, do not doubt me.
